2. This proforma is to record how you worked on your production
You should complete this each week during production
Consider all relevant areas that you covered that week
Think about what worked/what didn’t work/how you can improve
and actions for the following sessions/weeks
3. This week I started by completing my ‘Initial Reactions’
PowerPoint.
In this PowerPoint I talked about my ideas I could use for my
short film and made a mind map of how they could play out
through the film. My first ideas was to make the genre a
horror/comedy, however I later changed it to horror/thriller.
I made a mood board of the main ideas and features that would
be in my film, for example I am going to include drugs, a knife, a
watch and a chase.
I started to then make my ‘Research and Experiments’
PowerPoint once I had finished my first PowerPoint.
4. This week I was finishing off and completing my ‘Research and Experiments’
PowerPoint.
First of all I did my primary research, which meant I had to make a survey on
SurveyMonkey regarding my short film genres and ideas to see if it was a
good choice and to see which gender and which ages like which type of film
etc.
Next I did my secondary research which was researching statistics of movie
genre preferences from both genders and different ages, from various
websites, such as Reddit and Participations.
Then analysed these results and identified my target audience due to which
age group and gender liked my genre choice.
Using my target audience analysis and BBFC Guidelines, I chose my film
rating and discussed my audience appropriate content.
I then analysed three professional products and discussed how they used
lighting, camera shots and music in their productions.
I also talked about my experiment filming, editing and audio productions and
reflected on them.
Finally I discussed the constraints on production and what was limiting me to
do certain things whilst filming.
5. In this week I completed the PowerPoint ‘Planning and Pre-
Production’.
In this PowerPoint I completed the story development, which
was the basics of my story.
I also made a structural breakdown table, showing what will
happen in each scene and the visual and sound notes I will
include.
I discussed the visual planning by talking about lighting, setting
and how the mood of the scene will be shown in the setting, and
I also made a concept board to show the main features of my
film.
6. This week I was finishing my ‘Planning and Pre-Production’
PowerPoint. I completed a shot list to help me when filming.
I also filled out a production group and cast information table,
and filled out other tables for location information (and backup
locations), risk assessments, contingency planning, production
schedule, call sheets and what props/costumes I will be using in
my film and how I can transport them from one location to
another and what settings I will use and the items I will use in my
settings that would be a main feature of that scene.
Finally I discussed what digetic and non-digetic sounds I will use
and how I will be able to get these sounds.
7. In the final week (after filming over the weekend) I spent all week
editing my short film, using Premiere Pro.
I downloaded some sound effects and music from YouTube using
KeepVid.
The first day was mainly making the sequence and putting all the
clips together and in order. I cut down certain clips, using the
razor tool, to make sure it looked more professional.
The next days I added sound effects and music to certain points
in my film, making sure they fitted with the right moment of the
film.
Finally I added in audio and video transitions and effects, and I
also edited the colour correction and change etc, to give the
scenes more a certain mood/feel to them.
