Working Title:
ShutEye
Audience:
My audience is based between 16-25 years old who use social media. This is due to my survey
showing that the majority of this age range watch or have seen short films online. From a logistical
point of view this is the best way to distribute short films and has a greater reach when posted on
social media such as YouTube and Facebook. . Overall my target audience is 16-25 year olds who
frequently use the social media to view content as this is where most short films are viewed and
promoted. The social grade of the audience doesn’t matter as the film will be accessible to
everyone however the age range has been bound to reflect the target tastes of young adults from
my survey. A socially conscious psychographic would probably relate to my film more as I plan to
feature many psychological motifs that conscious people are more likely to pick up on. The film
may feature a different world other than our own which relates to the gratification of entertainment.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
My skills in Premiere Pro have developed dramatically over the year and I am excited to put them
into practice to create this project. Knowledge on such things as audio design and editing will aid
me to create a good piece of work whilst also developing new skills from conducting research into
different techniques. Currently I have not spent enough time as I would like to on Premiere Pro but
I have developed enough knowledge and skills to be able to produce a high quality product.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept of my film is a character who shifts between worlds when he goes to sleep not
knowing which one is real. In both worlds there will be a threat present which leads to the
character questioning which world he would rather spend more time in. One of the worlds will be
there character in bed drifting between consciousness whilst the other will be outside in a
dangerous world with an oncoming threat. The film ends with the character waking up to the same
threat that was in his dream in his bedroom.
I will conduct some location scouting prior to filming as I would like to find a desolate area to film
the dream world and possibly my own room for the bedroom set. I will also research some different
visual effects techniques to alter the threat and make it look more professional. I can do this but
looking online at various tutorial and YouTube videos to better my craft in programs like Premiere
Pro and After Effects.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
I would like to experiment with some specialist techniques when developing my film such as a dolly
zoom and a steadicam/shoulder mount. I feel like these are a good start point to start developing
new skills. From watching various online lessons and tutorials I also plan to experiment with
various visual effects on both Premiere pro and After Effects. Overall I am using this project to
develop the skills which will allow me to make future projects even better.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate my work and make notes on my progress whilst I am producing my project so to
lengthen my contingency time towards the end. This will include taking screenshots, completing
progress diary and making notes so that when I do a full write up of my evaluation and self
reflection, I have the tools necessary to write it in as much detail as possible.
