This document is Daniel Firth's evaluation of his pre-production and production work. In the pre-production, he believes he did good research but could have improved by adding more detail, contingency plans, and audience research. His planning also lacked detail apart from his production proposal. He could have improved his planning document and finding original footage. In his experiments, he learned editing techniques but some effects ruined the original footage. For the production, he liked the video clips and interview but could have improved the audio, added transitions, and tried to get his own footage without a watermark.
2. Pre production evaluation
• Overall I believe my work has many areas I could have improved my
pre production work but I also think I did some parts well, as I
researched many different facts and figures for my doc, and got a
good idea for what I wanted to make from my research of existing
products following similar themes (forces tv, British army videos). I
researched my target audience and all of the different factors of my
proposal/idea which will appeal to different groups of people and
how they would hopefully react.
3. Pre production evaluation
• There are many ways I believe I could have improved my research, as
both my research and audience research documents lack detain and
my audience research document is incomplete or sparsely written in
on some slides, I could have improved my research document by
making contingency plans and written in more detain about the films
I had researched, I could have also done more research into my topic
and researched into back up topics for if they were needed.
4. Pre production evaluation.
• Overall I believe my planning also lacked detail and effort, apart from
my production proposal as I decided what I wanted to make and how,
I also planned my evaluation and my concept of my work and how I
wanted to make it, another part of my planning I believe was good
was my script which was changed due to circumstances and the
required length of the project its self but I used the script in my
production, I also added some facts/figures to my script.
5. Pre production assessment
• The main part of my planning I could have improved was finding ways
to get original footage and not rushing my planning document as it
lacks detail, effort and due to the changes made it lacks relevance to
my production, I could have written more detail on how I was going
to get the shots and why I wanted to use that there. I also could have
planned made a contingency plan for if something goes wrong.
(which it did).
6. Pre production evaluation
Some parts of my experiments I believe I did well, as I learned lots of
things with the software and how it can be used to create a film. I used
many different editing techniques some that I found on videos on
YouTube or from just figuring it out by myself, I really like some effects I
used in my experiments, especially my first pairing in my third
experiment as I really like how it turned out as the pairing looks really
clean.
7. Pre production evaluation
• There were some parts of my experiments which I didn’t like and
believe look unprofessional and silly. I also believe I could have used
some editing technique's that would have been helpful with my final
product, I also think that some of the effects I layered ruined the
original footage on my experiments.
8. Production evaluation
• I think there were many parts of my final production I liked such as
the video clips that I found and used, I also liked the interview
dialogue and I also liked how I managed to work and edit down my
doc from 10 minutes to 3 minutes 24 seconds, by removing a lot or
irrelevant footage and audio.
9. Production assessment
• There were some elements of my final production I believe I could
improve and change such as…
• I could have edited my audio and footage.
• I could have also added transitions between the footage
• I could have also done my audio better as its choppy and seems very
unprofessional
• I could have also tried to get my own footage instead of using footage
from YouTube as it has the watermark on the top left of the footage.
