2. This proforma is to record how you worked on your production
You should complete this each week during production
Consider all relevant areas that you covered that week
Think about what worked/what didn’t work/how you can
improve and actions for the following sessions/weeks
3. At the start of the rotation, I looked
at pre existing short films to help
me get inspiration for our own
short film. I looked at a wide range
of short films from all genres to see
what kind of film I wanted to
make. One short film that stood out
to me was a short film called
desperate. This was a dramatic
film with a comedic payoff. When
looking at this, I knew I wanted to
do something similar and got
inspiration for what film I wanted
to do. I also did my initial plans for
the project. This includes a mood
board and mind map of what kind
of aspects I want in my short film. I
feel like this helped me because it
gave me a solid foundation of what
I wanted to plan.
4. For this week I began doing
research in the target market and
things that will be included in my
short film. To find out who my
target market was and what they
wanted in a short film, I did a
questionnaire using the website
survey monkey. I ended up getting
good answers but could of done
with more responses. For my
secondary research I used websites
such as IMDb to find out what
genre of film had the best ratings
from my target market. After
completing the research task, I
began the proposal document in
which I talked about who is my
target market, a quick summary of
what the film was about and what
I could do in this project when
looking back on my previous pieces.
5. In week 3, I finished off my
proposal and began my pre
production. In this document, I
used techniques such as story
boarding and shot lists to plan
my short film in detail of what
was going to happen in every
scene and shot. I also organised
my production days by adding
contact information of cast,
crew and location, created a
risk assessment and a
contingency plan. The pre
production really helped me
because it gave me a better
understanding f what has to be
done in order for the short film
to be a successful product.
6. In week 4, I finished off my
pre production at the
beginning of the week and
spent the rest of my time
filming for my project. For
this production I used a high
quality camera and a tripod. I
really enjoyed working with
the equipment because it is
easy to use and when used
properly, gives a smooth, high
quality performance. I luckily
got all the visual shots that I
wanted to include in the short
film, however I wish I could of
used audio equipment such as
a microphone to capture audio
assets.
7. Production and editing
For this week, I began
editing my final project. I
used Adobe Premier Pro to
assemble my visual and
audio assets. I ended up
using royalty free sound
effects and music to finish
the audio section of
production. I feel like if I
collected my own music and
effects, the production would
of turned out better.
