LENGTH OF THE LESSON​:​ ​40 MINUTES.
CLASS DESCRIPTION:​ ​There are twenty-three students in each course (4​th​
D and
4​th​
C), all between nine and ten years old. They have English classes once a week,
each class lasts forty minutes. This group of students work actively and they and her
teacher avoid speaking in L1. Their proficiency level is Pre-A1.
SKILLS TO BE EMPHASIZED:​ ​Listening and speaking.
LANGUAGE:
- Vocabulary about healthy and unhealthy food as well as eating groups.
- Vocabulary from the story.
AIMS:
By the end of this class, students will be able to retell the story “The very hungry
caterpillar”. Also, they will use old and new vocabulary from the story.
VALUES:​ ​Children will be aware of the importance of eating healthy food each day.
Also, they will be aware of avoiding eating too much unhealthy food such as fats,
sweets, etc.
MATERIALS:
● Proyector
● A computer
● The book: “The very hungry caterpillar”
● Board
● Marker
● Masks
EVALUATION​: ​​We expect that students comprehend the story that we will read and
will be able to retell it. They also will learn new vocabulary from the story and will
describe their students’ masks.

We’re going to start the

Clap your hands, stamp
your feet, it’s time to say
Hello, Hello!
“If you are happy”
“Today is Wednesday, how
are you?”
We’re going to show
students flashcards about
the weather. Then we will
write on the board the date
and the weather.

Reading the story
We will ask students what
they remember from the
previous classes.
Then, to close the unit “I’m
hungry”, we will read the
story “The very hungry
caterpillar” using the book
and also the projector, to
show images of the story
so that children understand
better the story.

retelling.

We will ask students some
LOTS and HOTS questions
and they will try to retell the
story using their own
words.

To finish the class, we will
give students masks of
fruits, vegetables, meat,
etc. with different shapes
and colours. Then, children
will describe their partners’
masks using the
vocabulary learnt in the
unit.

  • 1. Practice II, Didactics of ELT and Practicum at Primary School Level MAGIC BAG PROJECT:​​ ​​“The very hungry caterpillar” by Eric Carle. MENTOR TEACHER:​ Joana Herrán. NAMES: ​Nieto Paola and Corral Lucrecia. CLASS:​ ​Fourth Grade 4​th ​ C from 16:10 to 16:50, and 4​th ​ D from 16:50 to 17:30. LENGTH OF THE LESSON​:​ ​40 MINUTES. CLASS DESCRIPTION:​ ​There are twenty-three students in each course (4​th​ D and 4​th​ C), all between nine and ten years old. They have English classes once a week, each class lasts forty minutes. This group of students work actively and they and her teacher avoid speaking in L1. Their proficiency level is Pre-A1. SKILLS TO BE EMPHASIZED:​ ​Listening and speaking. LANGUAGE: - Vocabulary about healthy and unhealthy food as well as eating groups. - Vocabulary from the story.
  • 2. AIMS: By the end of this class, students will be able to retell the story “The very hungry caterpillar”. Also, they will use old and new vocabulary from the story. VALUES:​ ​Children will be aware of the importance of eating healthy food each day. Also, they will be aware of avoiding eating too much unhealthy food such as fats, sweets, etc. MATERIALS: ● Proyector ● A computer ● The book: “The very hungry caterpillar” ● Board ● Marker ● Masks EVALUATION​: ​​We expect that students comprehend the story that we will read and will be able to retell it. They also will learn new vocabulary from the story and will describe their students’ masks. Procedures Stage/stage aim Description Interaction Timing Warm-up We’re going to start the class singing: Clap your hands, stamp your feet, it’s time to say Hello, Hello! “If you are happy” “Today is Wednesday, how are you?” We’re going to show students flashcards about the weather. Then we will write on the board the date and the weather. Ts–Ss 5 minutes
  • 3. Reading the story We will ask students what they remember from the previous classes. Then, to close the unit “I’m hungry”, we will read the story “The very hungry caterpillar” using the book and also the projector, to show images of the story so that children understand better the story. Ts-Ss 15 min. Answering questions and retelling. Production (describing) We will ask students some LOTS and HOTS questions and they will try to retell the story using their own words. ❏ Did you like the story? ❏ Do you like caterpillars? ❏ What happens in the story? ❏ Does the caterpillar like healthy food? To finish the class, we will give students masks of fruits, vegetables, meat, etc. with different shapes and colours. Then, children will describe their partners’ masks using the vocabulary learnt in the unit. Ts-Ss Ss-Ss 10 min. 10 min.
