3. Existing Product
This is the original fight between Jaime Lannister and Ned Stark, two of the main characters of the show, they are in
Kings Landing which is a fictional city created by G.R.R Martin (The Author of the books). The Angle is side on so we can
see them clashing swords.
It is light, and the characters are both wearing some sort of leather outfit, they both have prop swords which they are
fighting each other with, the colours are light creams and dark shades of brown.
The audience for this scene would be for older teenagers or adults that watch the show âGame of Thronesâ or anyone
whoâs interested in swords fights or the like.
4. Existing Product
This is a poster of the well received film Braveheart, it is a full body shot of Mel Gibson
dressed as the famous William Wallace, he is standing in front of a sunlit sky, which in my
mind signals hope, he is holding a great sword, and the font used is strong and makes it look
like a film about history.
5. Existing Product
This is the animated Lord of the Rings film, it is a drawn poster for the film, the angle is quite
strange as it almost puts us below Gandalf as his sword is bearing down on the ground, Frodo
and Sam stand by him but look out of place in the world of violence, the lighting is mostly
dark except from a light part in the sky which signifies the small good agaisnt evil.

- All the products I chose are fantasy/medieval, they all feature large battles and
historic warfare, I.e Swordfighting, the four products I chose all have swords in the
pictures.

⢠Observation: This shows that people prefer to see Disney or pixel like
animations but not animation like Looney Tunes

⢠Observation:People like Game of Thrones and how to train your dragon equally. Lord of the
Rings is liked less.

animation of how to train your dragon and the adult feel of Game of Thrones that Lord of the Rings canât
give.

with Game of Thrones so it will appeal to the people who have said they like Game of thrones.

⢠Observation: A compelling adventure makes a fantasy film great, more so than an interesting
villain or well made protagonists and side characters
⢠What this says about my audience: They like films like the Hobbit and Lord of
the rings more than films with extremely devious and deceitful villains and they also prefer a good
adventure to well made characters

have an adventure as it will be a short pixel animation, making a long adventure would be challenging.

⢠Observation: Intense moments and politics with deceit are more popular than fight
scenes.
⢠What this says about my audience: They like fight scenes BUT they
prefer the other aspects of the show.

product will be mostly focused on sword fighting, so maybe people will still like it somewhat?

⢠Observation: Ned Stark is the most loved character out of the ones I displayed.
⢠What this says about my audience: They like more realistic characters
like Ned Stark and maybe they enjoy the loving father side to his character.
⢠How will your product appeal to this audience: Ned Stark will
be the main character of my animation so this will appeal to the people who like him.

⢠Observation: People like the skill and the swordmanship of the actual sword
fight when seeing one.
⢠What this says about my audience: My audience probably
prefers the violent scenes in sword fights and/or the epic duels.
⢠How will your product appeal to this audience: My
product is literally a duel between two experienced swordsmen from the show âGame
of Thronesâ hopefully it will capture the skill of a swordsman.

duel?
⢠Answer 1: I like to see intense scenes, and well choreographed
fights in sword fights as I believe this makes them good as a whole.

⢠Answer 2:I really enjoy the beautiful adventures that most of these films
take us on as viewers, theyâre fun and thrilling to watch.
⢠Question 3: Would you find a pixel animation sword fight fun to
watch?
⢠Answer 3: Yeah I guess, I mean I like animated things and I like
watching fight scenes in film, so I donât see why I wouldnât.

they are probably 14-19 and play or watch a variety of fantasy products.

audience: My product will appeal to these people because it is
fantasy themed and is a pixel animation duel.

⢠Question 1: Do you like the fantasy genre and if yes/no, why?
⢠Answer 1: No, I donât enjoy these films or shows, they just arenât my
thing, I prefer a good horror or comedy, I think I find them too childish.
⢠Question 2: If you had to name something you DO like about
fantasy what would it be?
⢠Answer 2: Despite me not actually liking the fantasy genre, some
films and shows have some things I like, a interesting and evil villain and
deceitful and tense moments which create a sense of horror.

⢠Answer 3: Not a chance, I donât enjoy that at all, itâs too action
packed and just not really my thing.

⢠The product research I did was useful, because it allowed me to get an idea of what
other products were composed of and how they did their fights, and other scenes.

⢠The questionnaires helped because I could get an idea of what people liked in
fantasy/medieval shows/films, so now I can incorporate those things into my
product/
â Interviews
The interviews also helped because it gave me answers that were more in depth
than the questionnaire so I could really get an idea of what people like.

â What sort of a response did you get?
â I got a decent response, most people seemed to like the fantasy/medieval genre and
swordfights, this helped me come up with what I should do for the final product, so
when I make it I can incorporate all these things into one big piece, which will garner to
a larger audience.
â How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
â I distributed it to my friends from my city/old school, they gave me answers pretty quick,
so I was able to really get an idea of what people in the range of 14-19 liked about
fantasy, the only disadvantage is it may be too biased towards fantasy and medieval
shows/films.
