9. Shining
• They took out all scenes of horror and only
used ones that looked light hearted, along
with the happy go lucky music this made a
very jolly trailer come to life and it worked
extremely well, by doing this they completely
changed the feel of the film, it is amazing how
the soundtrack of a film and a few edits can
completely change how it looks, it goes to
show how important editing and sound are in
media.
10. Scary Mary
• Took all scenes that could be possibly scary and
put them together to make a decently weird
trailer, add the creepy music on top and you have
a horror trailer, it was very well done and made
me think it was a horror film, this also completely
changed how I viewed the film as a whole, the
sound made the whole film seem like a horror
movie and this is crazy as Mary Poppins is
nothing like that, the editing was done incredibly
well to give this idea of a horror film.

14. Iconography- Western
• In a western I would expect to see cowboys
and possibly a group of them working to
defeat a group of bandits using rifles and
revolvers, you would see small towns with
saloons and lots of open fields, also included
in this would be a horse chase or something to
do with a train, there would be gold mines

take place in America.

about something set in space with futuristic

lots of special effects, hyper speed, there
would also be an emphasis on travelling
through space from planet to planet, there
would also be a load of aliens who are
probably the bad guys.
16. Iconography- Fantasy
• In a fantasy film I would see, a magical and
enchanting world full of weird and strange
creatures and people, the main character
would embark on a quest to journey across
the world to save the whole planet and its
inhabitants from certain doom, there would
be lots of beautiful locations and many
dangerous ones filling the landscape.

• Narrative Definition

time to the next without using flashbacks or flash-forwards and then returning to the present.
• Linear Narrative Film Example

• Non-Linear Narrative Definition
– Nonlinear narrative, disjointed narrative or disrupted narrative is a narrative technique,
sometimes used in literature, film, hypertext websites and other narratives, where events are
portrayed, for example out of chronological order, or in other ways where the narrative does
not follow the direct causality pattern of the events featured, such as parallel distinctive plot
lines, dream immersions or narrating another story inside the main plot-line. It is often used
to mimic the structure and recall of human memory, but has been applied for other reasons as
well.
• Non-Linear Narrative Film Example
– Pulp Fiction
