2. • What is your chosen brief?
Create a DVD/Blu-ray front and back cover, a teaser poster and a main theatrical poster. This
can be for a genre of your choice, for any major film company and targeted to 16-25 year
olds.
• What is your chosen genre?
I have chosen a horror/detective hybrid as this isn’t something that I have seen much of, yet I
think the two genres will work well together.
• Who will be your institution and why?
Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema as they are known for their slightly darker films, and have
recently came out with IT which would be one of my selling points.
• What existing products inspire you and why?
Unfriended-Shows the technology side of things.
Cabin in the woods- One aspect of the film is to complete set tasks.
Tron- Being trapped in a game.
• How will you appeal to your audience?
My audience appeal is ‘from the creators of IT’ and also that it has a 15 age rating, so that all
of the target audience can view it but it wont be too mild.
• What will be the synopsis for your film?
After a number of disappearances occur, a new game sweeps the nation and one group of
friends sync together to play. However the characters in the game are those that
disappeared and the group control their every move. Yet uninstalling the game makes their
characters join the game.
• What will be colour scheme?
A black background with monotone images (the main ones will have a slightly blue tint) and
red text.
3. • What fonts will you use?
Courier New
• Use of media language
Barthes Hermuetic and Proairetic codes and encodes/decodes.
• Representations
I will be using two different social groups that both show a range in ethnicity as well has having some photos that show an older generation.
• Industry context
New line cinema, founded in 1967, became part of a unit of Warner Bros. in march 2008. They have since created films such as Lord of the Rings,
Annabelle: Creation and IT.
• What model/s will you use?
I will be using my friends Isabelle Auty, Sarah Blackhall, Alice Jewitt, Ellie-Jai Brown and Mayleen Yew as central characters as well as some friends
and family as extras.
• What will they wear for each photo?
Group A (IA, SB and AJ) will be wearing ordinary clothes so that the audience can relate to them being normal teenagers. Group B (EB and MY) will be
wearing black tops (no wide shots of them as the characters/avatars will be used) and then wearing typical dance attire along with the rest of my
friends (Group C) to show a difference in the social groups.
• What will be their facial expression, pose, body language?
Group A- sitting on phones, confusion, excitement, one will be sleeping in a shot, standing facing away from the camera, close up of eyes.
Group B- stood still, scared, facing camera, determined look, close up of eyes.
Group C- sitting on phones, dancing to show skill.
• What will their hair and make up look like?
Groups A and C will have natural makeup and everyday hair to show how normal they are, whilst Group B will have their hair tied up as if they are
ready to run somewhere.
• Where will you take your photos?
I will take my photos in the living room and bedroom of my house as well as the exterior of the house and some photos will be taken at my dance
school ‘Zazz’.
• Do you have any inspirational photos, products?
The overall idea is inspired by Unfriended, Tron and Cabin in the woods, however for the images themselves I have taken inspiration for the colour
scheme from Star Trek (2009) and the theory of Everything (2015) as the poster for this film have math equations in the background and I have
decided to put binary in the background of mine to symbolise the idea of being trapped in a game.
