2. Process
I started out with simple models
of Ned Stark and Jaime Lannister,
two important characters in the
game of thrones series/books, I
chose these characters because
they appear in a duel scene mid
way through the first series, the
models that I made were used
using the paint tool, I spent quite
a lot of time creating these as
they are the main part of the
animation, if the characters don’t
look good then the animation as
a whole won’t either.
3. Process
• Here we have them both at
the start of the duel, their
swords are ready, I took
some inspiration from
another pixel animation,
getting their swords in the
right position was a key part
in making this, if the swords
didn’t look right then it
would have fallen apart very
quickly, I made the swords
with the pencil tool and
obviously the animation is
made with the timeline
tool.
4. Process
• Making their swords and
arms move was gruelling
but eventually was
worth it, they looked like
they were bending for
the most part of the
animation, but when put
at a high speed they look
like swords moving at a
high speed which is
what I was going for, I
did this with the
timeline tool and the
pencil tool.
5. Process
• Here he is standing with his
sword held aloft, this is
similar to the Star Wars a
New Hope poster where
Luke Skywalker holds his
lightsabre above him, again
I had to use the pencil tool
to create the movements
made by the characters, I
had to move their arms and
the swords at the same
time to try and make it
seem realistic, I did the
animation with the timeline
tool.
6. Process
• I had to make the sword and
arms look like they had
actual movement otherwise
it wouldn’t have worked
well, this was about making
it feel and look professional,
if it didn’t look professional I
had essentially made in
making a functioning trailer
for my game, I was still only
using the pencil and
timeline tool to create this,
so I was keeping it simple
while trying to create
something quite intricate.
