3. Graphic Design Production
ā¢ Advantages of working in this medium
ā¢ Good experience in photoshop and a good chance to test your skills, it will also help you for future photoshop endeavors which is
always useful
ā¢ Itās easier to come up with an advert for a bigger company with more resources because, you can see past posters and use them for
inspiration to help your own
ā¢ Disadvantages of working in this medium
ā¢ Itās difficult to create something with originality because of the size of the company, the poster you make might have already been
made by someone because of the size of the company
ā¢ Itās easy to go overboard and ruin it completely, if you use too many photos and over complicate the poster you may ruin it and itās an
easy thing to do
ā¢ How did your planning come into the final piece
ā¢ It didnāt really end up anything like my plan, I thought of a simpler and better idea which would fit better
ā¢ I used the fonts in my plan, which made the poster look a lot better than it would have without them
ā¢ Did you find it easier to create your poster with planning
ā¢ Not really, as I didnāt stick to the plan at all. Finding the fonts was helpful however
ā¢ I wouldnāt say planning isnāt important however, if you have a solid plan itās a good thing to fall back on
ā¢ Self evaluation of the effectiveness of the whole piece
ā¢ I personally love the simplicity of my poster, it is colourful and striking, which gets the attention of the viewer
ā¢ The green valley in the background represents the āLifeā in the āCoca Cola lifeā drink
4. Graphic Design Production
This is the official coca cola life
poster, as you can see it is fairly
different to my own for a few
reasons, but there are similarities
too, this one features a coca cola
bottle and not a can, which mine
has, this one is a bottle in a field,
emphasising the importance of life
and nature in this new coca cola
venture, at the bottom of the
poster it has a few words talking
about the drink āSweetness from
Naturel sources, lower calorieā this
also shows that itās about nature
and health.
My product features a Coca cola life can in
a river, and in the background is a green
valley, which shows and emphasises the
importance of life and nature for this drink
and advert, around the coca cola can is a
source of light, making the can come off
as being somewhat like the sun, which
makes life grow, this connects to the
whole theme of life and nature, at the top
of the poster thereās the actual coca cola
life logo in green which again connects to
nature and life, and below this is the catch
phrase, āTaste lifeā.
5. Graphic Design Production
The weakness of this piece
Is the Zero, itās too dark
For the background so
Almost blends in, if I could
Change anything itād be
This.
I really think one of the
Main strengths is the
Background, somehow it
Manages to look like
Something Coke Zero
Would use but also looks
Like it belongs in a James
Bond opening sequence.
I really like the bottom bar
It makes it look very
Professional, with the
Coca Cola and Skyfall logo.
The fact that thereās an
Actual coke zero James
Bond bottle makes this
Poster 100x better than it
Would have been without.
6. Radio Production
ā¢ Advantages of working in this medium
ā¢ You get experience in the Radio sector of media, which could help you if you wanted to go further into radio, or can just give
you a lot of experience over all in Audition.
ā¢ You get to have a hands on go at āAuditionā which comes with the photoshop package, itās quick and easy to use but hard to
master, I donāt think Iāll get that far but itās certainly a fun thing to work on.
ā¢ Iād never imagined Iād be able to do something like this, but my confidence has been boosted greatly because of it, doing a
radio advert is extremely fun, contrary to what I may have believed before hand.
ā¢ Itās fun and enjoyable to go and record noises, and then finally import them onto the computer put them on Audition and
edit them.
ā¢ Disadvantages of working in this medium
ā¢ There arenāt many disadvantages to working on Radio Production, you get to have a go at the radio scene and really make
some ground if youāre looking for a job in this sector, BUT if you arenāt really too good with Audition youāre going to have an
awful time trying to make something decent, but if you can youāll be proud of yourself.
ā¢ Because of this disadvantage, you might have to practice with Audition a lot to be able to make a radio advert of a good
standard, of course this could help you eventually but itās just an obstacle to get around.
7. Radio Production
My final product featured war sounds at the start of the advert followed by a man injured, suddenly someone says āTry a sip of
thisā, the famous sound of a coke can opening plays and you hear in sigh in relief as he drinks it, suddenly heās back in his office
and refreshed fully, which then the man says āCoke, sure to refresh you even after the hardest days workā followed by the famous
āTaste the feelingā Jingle.
I really like this whole piece because it touches on the difficulty and despair of a long day at work, and shows that COKE is the
drink to help you through it, itās a bold claim but I feel like coke can definitely be bold for the size of their company and how
successful theyāve been.
Although my ad works well as a radio advert, I feel that it would have worked better as a TV advert, it would make more sense
seeing these things visually rather than hearing them with audio, there are some drinks advert when the person is in a bad
situation until they take a gulp of the drink which is being advertised, this is what I was aiming for because it really sends a
message as Iāve said above and can DEFINITELY make people want to drink said beverage.
Obviously my advert isnāt up to an amazingly high standard as these other ads are but for a student piece I think itās decently
made and is more original to changing the song lyrics of a song to coca cola or coke, as others have done.
I feel like most people will be including some sort of song into theirs so I steered clear of that to be original, and I hope it worked
as I believe originality is key to adverts, for instance I donāt think there has been a coke advert which has included war or anything
on those lines, itās as I said before a bold thing to do.
8. Radio Production
There are many strengths and weaknesses of my advert, strengths being: The message of Coke being able to refresh you even
after the worst day at work will make people thirst for coke and thatās the aim of the whole thing, so I believe thatās a good point.
Another strength would be the fact that itās not too over complicated which is a constant aim of mine, I donāt like things to
become too complex because I feel like it can detract from the advert as a whole and so degrades its overall performance.
The other strength I must mention is the originality of the advert which can be very important when trying to catch the attention
of the viewers or in this situation the listeners, I havenāt seen a coke advert including war as of yet which means my advert holds a
lot of originality which is why I believe this is a strength.
With strengths come weaknesses and my advert has a few of those too, one being: It doesnāt exactly sound professional, Iām no
voice actor so I couldnāt exactly make my lines sound fully committed, in truth they fall a bit short and in total might ruin the
advert but there is no voice actor on hire so we made the most of what we had.
Another weakness might be that people may not fully understand the transition between war sounds and then the bleak and
normal sound of an office, if people donāt get why this transition is made then the advert just doesnāt work and so itās ruined.
10. Video Game Production
ā¢ Advantages of working in this medium
ā¢ It gives me experience for future endeavours into games design, which helps as this is the field I
wish to go into when Iām older.
ā¢ I really enjoy animating things, especially when the topic is games, this helps me work harder
because Iām interested in the topic.
ā¢ Pixel art is something Iām very passionate about, itās simple and easy and overall just fun to do.
ā¢ But I also just love games development as a whole, Iām very excited to design games in the future.
ā¢ Disadvantages of working in this medium
ā¢ To make something truly brilliant you need a lot of time because animating can take a while if make
your characters do every small movement per frame, this is tedious but rewarding.
ā¢ Because of this disadvantage, making animations will take a while but it will pay off in the long
term.
ā¢ If you donāt want to go into games design you may not enjoy doing this topic, which is completely
understandable.
11. Video Game Production
Similarities are that they both
eat/drink the branded product
and then their appearance
chances because it refreshes
them.
Both will probably have the same
Target audiences as the one on the
right features Mr Bean which is
Comical and funny and the left
Features Zelda, a game that came
Out a while ago, but I believe that
16-17 year olds will appreciate it
More than adults.
My advert is about the game Zelda mixing with
coke, Link (The main character) offers Ganon (The
antagonist) a coke, ganon is coloured like a pepsi
and link like coke, when Ganon drinks the coke he
turns into the Princess Zelda in the colours of coca
cola, giving the idea that when youāre thirsty you
arenāt yourself, this is very similar to the snickers
advert and thatās where I got the idea from in the
first place, mine is also a lot lighter and more
colourful but of course is pixelated.
This is the snickers advert, and it starts off with Mr
Bean messing up when heās meant to be on a secret
mission with ninjas, he falls down into a building and
one of his friends throw him a snickers, when he
takes a bite into he changes back to his normal ninja
self and jumps out the building rejuvenate, this is
similar to my own advert and this is not a
coincidence, this advert is a lot darker with more
contrast, and it is also real life, rather than pixelated.
12. Video Game Production
Clouds and other
background
Drawings look
nice, the art is
something I
especially like
about this piece of
work, itās vibrant
and colourful, yet
simple and nice to
look at.
I extremely like this
piece of work
because it is based
on a game I
particularly like,
the only
weaknesses Iād say
are that itās very
simple and possibly
too short, there are
a lot of things I
could have added
to it to make it to
have made it more
complex.
If I could change anything I would make the blue pig or Ganon, hold the coke up in the air
when he receives it, as this is what happens in the game, I believe this would make it more
complex and look at lot better as a whole, it could also be longer as well.
13. Comparison
ā¢ Which product do you believe advertises the product
the best? Why?
ā¢ I think by far the Advergame is the best and advertises Coke the best, because it gets the message across
clearly and soundly.
ā¢ As the target audience is for 16-17 year olds it works, because maybe adults wouldnāt like an advert that
has games included, also for 16-17 year olds it works because itās short and simple and most people at this
age have small attention spans.
ā¢ It doesnāt use the coca cola logo but itās pretty obvious that itās their advert, saying coke and using red,
one of the characters even drink from a coke bottle.
ā¢ Which of your products is the most professional? Why?
ā¢ The advergame, the animation is liquid and works nicely, while also getting the message of the ad across, I
also like the advergame the most by far.
ā¢ Iād also say the advergame took the most effort, the tools used were professional and helped me make
something that looks like it could truly be a actual advert on the internet.
ā¢ It takes quite a while to get used to the tools that we use in these softwares but after you get used to
them you can make professional pieces of work.
