podcast is being filmed in
a studio which is mostly
exposed brick and wood.
It’s very spacious and
clean also in the back is
the logo for the podcast.
Angle: The camera is far
away from the people so
you can see everyone in

studio is all black and
comfortable so the
hosts and guests talk
naturally.
Angle: The cameras are
set on one person each
and they shift in
between the guests and
hosts depending on
who’s speaking.
Post-production: While in post
production, the editors have to
make sure all the cameras are
synced to the people speaking.
At the beginning and at breaks
the editor would have to add in
the jingle.
Props: The only props the
podcast use are 4 mics and 4
cameras one each for the
guests and hosts.
Mise en scene: The hosts and
guests are sat around the
table with the same distance
between them.

an audience by being natural

listen to it, they also tell funny
stories and discuss urban
legends so the audience
varies.

covered in mics, cameras
and computers with a

the sofa as well as cameras
and computers.
Colours: The studio is red,
grey and brown which it
gives it a retro look which
works for the podcast.

people who want to see
interviews with big
celebrities.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have? They all are professional and
have a lot of good equipment.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work? The camera angles,
lighting and how they sit while talking to each
other and guests. I’ve never noticed how the
angles and camera would affect the podcasts
overall look.

Interview 1
• Kal’s interview
• What’s your favourite horror movie? Why?
One of my favourite horror movie is The Conjuring because I watched it when I was younger
and it made me run away from the TV.
• Do you like Saw, if so why?
I love saw because it was one of the first horror movies I ever watched, also it added
something new to the horror genre and the twist is brilliant.
• Do you like horror movies? If so why do you like horror movies?
I like horror movies because its fun getting scared and I also like the story in horror movies
more than in other genres.
• In a horror movie podcast what are you looking for?
In a horror movie podcast I look for comedy and I want the hosts to know a lot about horror
movies.
• What’s one thing you don’t like about horror movies?
My least favourite part about horror movies is stupid decisions the survivors make for
example when Addison Corday puts both her hands in a box in Saw 2 while trying to get an
antidote.
Interview 1
• Observation: My audience likes horror movies
and knows about podcasts.
• What this says about my audience: They’re a
big fan of saw and other horror movies.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience: We’ll be talking about saw in a
podcast format which is two things they know
about.
Interview 2
• What’s your favourite horror movie? Why?
My favourite horror movie is Child Plays because Chucky’s creepy to me because I
watched the movie when I was younger.
• Do you like Saw, if so why?
I like saw because of the practical effects of the gore and how fleshed out the
characters out.
• Do you like horror movies? If so why do you like horror movies?
I like the feeling of suspense and the thrill from jump scares.
• In a horror movie podcast what are you looking for?
I’d want people who know a great deal about horror movies to give their opinions and
give meaningful insights into the film and its production.
• What’s one thing you don’t like about horror movies?
I hate dumb decisions that characters make. An example would be in the film The
Conjuring why does the family move in and stay there after seeing all the paranormal
stuff.

that they know a lot about what they want in

Audience Profile
Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience
Age Range
My primary audience is
16-19 year olds and my
secondary audience is
20-30 year olds.
My product will appeal to the primary
audience by being entertaining and so we
can keep their attention. It’ll appeal to the
secondary audience by informational so
older viewers can enjoy it.
Gender
My audience is 80%
male and 20% female so
the primary audience is
males and the
secondary is females.
To appeal to a male audience we’ll use a
bold font in the logo and name of the
podcast. Females could enjoy the podcast
if they enjoy horror but its not catered to
them.
Psychographic
My primary audience is
belongers and my
secondary is achievers.
It appeals to belongers by being on well
known horror movies and it appeals to
achievers by being educational to horror
movies.
Social Status
The primary audience is
middle class and the
secondary audience is
working class.
It appeals to the working class and middle
class because we’re working class and
middle class so the audience will have
similar personalities and upbringings as us.
Research Evaluation
Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research.
Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
To research existing products, I broke them down to the lighting and angles they used and
how they appeal to the audience. This is helpful because we can incorporate what they use
to make ours more professional.
– Questionnaires
We used survey monkey to write ten questions that we asked the audience this helped in
confirming the movie we are going to review and the type of podcast we were going to be.
– Interviews
The interviews were helpful, because we could get a more in depth look at why the
audience likes horror movies and podcasts so we can make ours similar stylistically to the
things that they enjoy.
Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
In the survey the majority of people were males, who like
horror movies and occasionally watch podcasts. This
information helps in making the podcast as we’re males who
like horror movies and watch podcasts so we are catering to
ourselves.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage
and a disadvantage. I used Survey Monkey to distribute my
survey. An advantage of using it was that it was easy to use
and to distribute. However a disadvantage would be that
we could only distribute it via a link to people we knew
and not the public so we couldn’t broaden our audience.

Angle: The camera is far away from the people so you can see everyone in shot, because they’re far apart. Lighting: The lights in the studio aren’t too prominent as a lot of the set is dark but the people are visible Mise en scene: Everyone is spaced out however the guest is slightly further and the hosts are facing the guest. Angle: The cameras are set on one person each and they shift in between the guests and hosts depending on who’s speaking. Post-production: While in post production, the editors have to make sure all the cameras are synced to the people speaking. At the beginning and at breaks the editor would have to add in the jingle. Props: The only props the podcast use are 4 mics and 4 cameras one each for the guests and hosts. Mise en scene: The hosts and guests are sat around the table with the same distance between them. Audience appeal: They attract an audience by being natural so it doesn’t take a lot to listen to it, they also tell funny stories and discuss urban legends so the audience varies.

  • 25. Research Evaluation • Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each method – Product Research To research existing products, I broke them down to the lighting and angles they used and how they appeal to the audience. This is helpful because we can incorporate what they use to make ours more professional. – Questionnaires We used survey monkey to write ten questions that we asked the audience this helped in confirming the movie we are going to review and the type of podcast we were going to be. – Interviews The interviews were helpful, because we could get a more in depth look at why the audience likes horror movies and podcasts so we can make ours similar stylistically to the things that they enjoy.
  • 26. Research Evaluation – What sort of a response did you get? In the survey the majority of people were males, who like horror movies and occasionally watch podcasts. This information helps in making the podcast as we’re males who like horror movies and watch podcasts so we are catering to ourselves. – How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage. I used Survey Monkey to distribute my survey. An advantage of using it was that it was easy to use and to distribute. However a disadvantage would be that we could only distribute it via a link to people we knew and not the public so we couldn’t broaden our audience.
