The research conducted included analyzing existing podcast products to understand their studio layout, camera angles, lighting, and audience appeal. A questionnaire was distributed through Survey Monkey to gather information about the target audience's demographics, interests, and preferences. Interviews were also conducted to get a deeper understanding of why the audience enjoys horror movies and podcasts. The research provided insights into catering the new podcast to the primarily male, 16-19 year old audience who enjoys horror content and occasional podcast listening. Distributing the survey through Survey Monkey made it easy to use but limited the audience size. [/SUMMARY]

23. Audience Profile
Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience
Age Range
My primary audience is
16-19 year olds and my
secondary audience is
20-30 year olds.
My product will appeal to the primary
audience by being entertaining and so we
can keep their attention. It’ll appeal to the
secondary audience by informational so
older viewers can enjoy it.

achievers by being educational to horror
movies.
Social Status
The primary audience is
middle class and the
secondary audience is
working class.
It appeals to the working class and middle
class because we’re working class and
middle class so the audience will have
similar personalities and upbringings as us.
25. Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research.
Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
To research existing products, I broke them down to the lighting and angles they used and
how they appeal to the audience. This is helpful because we can incorporate what they use
to make ours more professional.
– Questionnaires
We used survey monkey to write ten questions that we asked the audience this helped in
confirming the movie we are going to review and the type of podcast we were going to be.
– Interviews
The interviews were helpful, because we could get a more in depth look at why the
audience likes horror movies and podcasts so we can make ours similar stylistically to the
things that they enjoy.
26. Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
In the survey the majority of people were males, who like
horror movies and occasionally watch podcasts. This
information helps in making the podcast as we’re males who
like horror movies and watch podcasts so we are catering to
ourselves.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage
and a disadvantage. I used Survey Monkey to distribute my
survey. An advantage of using it was that it was easy to use
and to distribute. However a disadvantage would be that
we could only distribute it via a link to people we knew
and not the public so we couldn’t broaden our audience.
