This image is the cover art for the
game. It’s looking straight onto the
characters, with a spotty background
which will be similar to mine.
They’ve used shadows and colours to
make the girl (3rd left) stand out, and
the angles of the girls portray what
their character will be like.
The light colours will attract the
audiences eye, and the unique look of
the characters will draw them in. The
cute, pastel look will relax the
audience, and will make them think
that this game is relaxing and
innocent.
3. Existing Product
This is some cover art for the
game Night in the woods. It’s
looking straight at the
characters, who are placed so
it looks like they’re falling.
They used a gradient effect to
make the background and
title stand out.
They used a subtle glow on the
title to make it stand out and
look mysterious. It also gives the
effect that it’s night, It shows
two of the characters, which
implies they’re important to the
game.
The interesting art style
will draw them in, plus the
mystery that is shrouded
and amplified by the
background colours. The
leaves add a simple
outdoors feel too.
4. Existing Product
This is the loading
screen from a video
game named Petscop.
The game doesn’t
actually exist, but
there is a series on
YouTube of someone
playing through it. The
angle of the title
makes it look exciting.
The
background is
mainly shades
of white, which
makes the title
stand out. The
text is soft and
smooth, giving
the impression
that it’s a nice
game.
The simplistic art style will make the
audience curious about what the
game holds. The present connotes
that its’ a game about presents. The
overall look is simplistic enough to
warrant curiosity.
5. Existing Product
This is a poster promoting
the film Carrie. It’s very
simplistic and straight
forward, which makes the
title stand out and look
unusual. The lighting and
the angles of the shots of
Carrie make her look
innocent in the first box
and murderous in the
second.
The font is bold and makes the
title stand out, the yellow
contrasts well with the black.
The red (in the second photo)
denotes blood, making Carrie
look evil and crazy. The dress
she’s wearing is white, which
connotes innocence.
The simple phrasing and imagery will pull the
viewer in. They may also recognise one of the
celebrity names and wish to see it because of
that. The yellow on black will grab the
viewers attention.

27. Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the
strengths and weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
Strengths: The products had similar aesthetics to what I was picturing which
helped me expand on my ideas.
Weaknesses: I already had a strong idea of what I wanted to do with my product
so it felt useless to look at other ideas.
– Questionnaires
Strengths: I got a clear idea of what my audience wanted which helped me
eliminate some ideas, and it also gave me ideas of what I could add to my project.
Weaknesses: I was originally going to target y project towards females, but as
more males answered the questionnaire, I had to change it so that it was equal to
both genders, as I didn’t think there was enough grounds to be solely male.
– Interviews
Strengths: It helped me narrow down the audience that I would be targeting
and seeing what things that they all wanted so I could be sure to add it.
Weaknesses: The opinions of people clashed at certain points which means that
I had to find compromises or change bits of my idea so that everyone would be
happy.
28. Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
I got a mostly positive response. Everyone's opinions were helpful in the
processing of my idea, as I knew what things to add and what to leave out. For
example, I know that my audience are expecting a wide range of colours, and that
the aesthetic should change from each project. There were a few unhelpful
points where I feel like I could’ve worded my question better, but other then that
I’m happy with the responses given.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a
disadvantage
I sent a link online to fellow classmates, along with a few friends I know. I also
had the survey up on my computer so that people could answer it there.
– Advantage: It was easy to share with friends.
– Disadvantage: It was hard to get the number of responses that I wanted.
