Location: It’s in the
middle of a dark, misty
forest, which has
negative connotations
which gives it a creepy
feel because the house is
in the middle of
nowhere. It produces
questions as to why the
person is just standing in
the mist of lake, with
why the is a noose
hanging from a tree.
Angle: The angle is a landscape angle,
which get more of the landscape in the
picture. The angle of the photo is a long
shot on so they get the house with forest
in the background, setting up the scene
Lighting: The lighting is
very dark, this is so it will
give a mysterious feel to
location and make more
horror like. The audience
would prefer a darker
lighting because if it was
light it would be
associate the film to be a
happy film, but when
the lighting is dark it’s
usual a horror or a
creepy film.
Audience appeal: The appeal to the audience
is that it’s set in a forest, with a surrounding
mist with a shadow in the mist. This appeals
to the older 15+ audience as it creates
suspense over what is happening or going to
happen
This doesn’t advertise or
promote a film but it does
intrigue the audience to
what’s happening
Existing Product
Location: It’s in the
middle of the forest,
which gives it’s a horror
feel to the DVD cover.
Also with Jason in the
middle of the forest with
not a lot light
surrounding him makes
look more threating.
Lighting: It’s very dark by
Jason not having not
much light around him,
meaning his features
aren’t clear, so only his
outline is visible which
makes him more creepy
and mysterious.
Angle: The angle is facing
upwards towards Jason, to
give him a more of scary
look on the front cover. It’s a
mid angle to give the effect
of emphasising how big
Jason is and haunting.
This intrigues
the audience to
make them
want to buy the
film
Audience appeal: The appeal is that it’s
horror film to a well know character, also it’s
a remake of the original Friday the 13th. This
helps the audience appeal as many having
already seen the original will be interested
in the remark to be able to compare. The
main gender would be male because the
use blood and gore seen on the cover, this
would more for the male gender because
most male prefer that to women, because
some women don’t enjoy films or covers
with blood and gore seen on them.

This advertises and
promotes Friday the
13th clearly as the
only words on the
poster are the title
Audience appeal: The appeal
is that it’s horror film to a well
know character, also it’s a
remake of the original Friday
the 13th. The age would be
15+ because the character use
in the poster is seen in other
films, that are very bloody and
has a lot of gore, therefore the
appropriate age rating would
15+ .
Existing Product
Colours: It has a mixture
of colour from light red
to black and grey. This
gives it’s a sense of
horror and makes the
poster stand out more to
the audience so when
they see the poster, it
will make them want to
go and see it the film.
Location: It’s in the
middle of the lake which
gives it a creepy feel to
the poster. Also the lake
is covered in blood to
give it a sense of
creepiness and horror to
the poster, this would
help people identify the
film as a horror film.
Angle: The angle is a forward
angle of forest which shows
all the forest. The angle is
long so it gets the effect of
the lake cover in blood, to
give a horror effect.
Audience appeal: It’s appeals
to the audience because this
poster uses a mixture of
colours to make it appeal
more to the audience for a
horror movie. The social status
would be balanced because
the community would want to
help each other to solve who
the murderer is and to help
people to escape the lake of
the killer.
Existing Product
Colours: It has one main
colours of blue and
white, this makes the
poster more eye
catching to the audience
by having a strong
contrast from other film
poster for example the
conjuring. Also the
represent what the film
is going to be like, with
the dark colours.
Location: The location of
the poster is in a mysterious
place because it seems
outside a prison cell with no
surrounding light, but
there’s a light shining
through the key hole. Which
makes the cell seem like it is
outside. This makes the
atmosphere creepy because
you don’t know what's on
the other side of the cell.
Angle: It’s a close up at the
hand and key holes. This
gives the effect of mystery
because, the audience won’t
know what the person or
creature is. This would make
the audience want to watch
because they would want to
find out what the
creature/person is and what
is behind the key hole.
This product works as it made to
advertise the film, and the
image intrigues the audience as
to what has happened
Audience appeal: The appeal to the
audience is that it’s the last film in the
series of them which would make them
want to watch it to see what happens
in the final section of the storyline. Also
the colours used in the poster are
different from other horror posters
which would intrigue the audience as it
looks different to your average horror
film. The age rating would be 15+
because it features sinister content on
the poster for example the keys coming
out of the fingers, this would scar an
audience who are younger than 15,
making this an appropriate age rating.
Existing Product
Colours: The main
colours are black and
white with a bit of red at
top. This makes very
similar to other horror
DVD cover that are out,
by having the same
colour scheme. This
makes the audience
know what the genre
the film is or that it has
dark connotations
towards the plot.
Location: The location is
outside a house in the
middle of the forest,
which give a effect of
fear because, a lot of
people are have fears of
being alone in house in
the middle of nowhere.
Also there fog in the
back which makes more
mysterious as to where
about they are.
Angle: There are multiple
angles for the close up, side
shots and long shots. This
makes the DVD cover more
effective by the close up
shot as you don’t see a face
of the person.
This product advertises
the film well and shows
a hint of what is in the
film
Audience appeal: This appeals to the
audience by having an review of the
from a newspaper or film company
which would make the audience want
to go and watch it as the film is
obviously rated highly. The social status
would be belonger because it has
people help each other to get out the
house, which is link to the to that social
group because they want help each
other out which can be seen in covers
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have?
• They all use dark colours, such as blacks, and navy with a contrasting bright title, to
make it stands out to the audience. Also the 3 of them have a mist over the top of
Jason and the shadow person. So all the Friday the 13th and the uninvited have
the colour black around the edge creating the dark theme of the horror film,
making the middle of the image more eye catching as it stands out against the
black, so it means the important things can be put in the middle as that’s what the
audience is most likely to look at. But insidious uses lighter colours but still has the
colour contrast where the lightest colour is in the middle drawing the eye.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your on work?
• I will include the mist and the dark colours of the posters, to set the scene of the
genre for the audience with the bright contrasting colours of the title. I will use a
dark colour round the edge similar to the Friday the 13th posters and DVD covers
and the uninvited so that only a figure is visible as I think this is very effective and
eye catching. I will also include the dark colours in my trailer by only filming in
black and white to have similar effect of old fashioned movies.
Questionnaire Analysis
Audience research
• Observation: 77% of people are under 18.
• What this says about my audience:
• That my audience is younger as the majority are under 18 with 77%. With a small percentage being
within 18-24 and 45-54. This is something I should consider when producing my products so that
they are suitable for those under 18
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• My product would appeal to this audience because it would include things that would appeal more
to a younger audience, than an older one, as many younger people see horror as being adult and is
therefore makes them feel older by watching it. However it would also still include graphic content
that could scare younger viewer, so I will have to take this into consideration
Audience research
• Observation: just under 70% of people are male.
• What this says about my audience:
• That most of my audience are male with 68%, while female audience is 21%.
Therefore I should target my audience towards males, but not make it exclusively
for male as there is still females.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• My products will appeal to both of my audience because it would content that
appeal to both male & female, by not having anything that would make it favour
one gender over the other.
Audience research
• Observation: 90% of my audience white or Caucasian.
• What this says about my audience:
• That 90% of my audience come from a white or Caucasian background, while 10%
come from an African. Therefore the majority of the audience are white or
Caucasian
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• My product will appeal to all ethnic groups because it won’t have anything that
would favour one over the other, by not having stereotypes to their ethnic
backgrounds, however I can take it in to consideration that I can include factors
which white or Caucasian relate to more the African.
Audience research
• Observation: That the colours of red, black and grey are the most common colours associate with
horror.
• What this says about my audience:
• That my audience know what colours are associated with horror for colours, and the same colours
came up a lot, showing that used of these colour, will signify horror to the audience
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• My product will appeal to the audience because it will include many of the colours that have been
mentioned and many more other colours to help aid the product. Also the colours will seen in other
horror films which make it similar to other, which would make it more appealing to the audience as
they will able to make connection by glancing at the dark colours used that the genre is most likely
horror, so they know what to expect
Audience research
• Observation: That the majority of people are wanting a trailer a least 2 minutes.
• What this says about my audience:
• That my audience prefer a longer trailer which will contain more information and insight into the
plot of the film to a quick 30 seconds.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• My product will appeal to my the audience because it will be between 1-3 minutes long. This will
make sure that the audience will not get bored during the trailer as its not too long but also has
enough time to show the basics of the lot and sets it up so it’s entertaining for the audience to
watch.
Audience research
• Observation: That 65% of people wanted the name of the film and with release date being a 25%.
• What this says about my audience:
• That the audience find the title of the film the most important feature on a film poster shown by the survey
results showing that the majority of people want the name of the film on the poster so they know what they are
watching with 65% of people. Also with 25% of people wanting the release date on the poster, shows that the
release is the second most important feature to include on the poster, followed by the actors
• How will your product appeal to this audience: My product will include the name of the film and the release date
of the film to give the audience more information about the film. This will let the audience know when the films is
coming out, also what actors are in the film to make them watch the film more.
Audience research
• Observation: That the audience wanting colours and a big title with 5 people.
• What this says about my audience:
• That to have a poster to stand out to the rest its important to have big title and colours with a good
fonts. As knowing the name of the films is important.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• My product will appeal to the audience because it will include large writing with colours that stand
out from the rest, also the font will make different from the rest of them, this will make the product
eye catching for the audience to look at and to read.
Audience research
• Observation: 100% of people wanted the writing to large and to have some sort of colours to go with.
• What this says about my audience:
• This says that my audience want a big writing and a colour to make the poster & DVD cover stand from other
products.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• My product will appeal to the audience because it will include large writing to make the product stand out more
from other similar products. This make the product more eye catching to the audience to look at because if the
poster is boring and not having much colours the audience won’t look at all, because of how boring its is.
Audience research
• Observation: That 75% of people associate blood, forest & weapons with horror.
• What this says about my audience:
• This say that my audience associate many of weapons & blood with horror, with it also it also being in a forest as
well, therefore this would help to set the scene for the audience by using these within my product
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• It I will include the blood and the weapons with the mask, with the creepy forest. This would make the images use
link to the horror theme for the poster and covers. This would make the audience know what they are looking at
and what genre it is. By including blood, weapons and a forest within my product this would help the product
appeal to the audience as it set the scene of the genre of the product so the audience know what they are
expecting
Audience research
• Observation: 4 people want the bright colours to make the DVD cover stand out more with the picture and the
title.
• What this says about my audience:
• This say that my audience have a want a bright colours and bold image to make the cover stand out more than
other DVD cover.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• My product will appeal to the audience because it will include many of the things that were mention in the

• What this says about my audience: That my audience know what's
is associate with horror with colour and the weapons use in the
horror films. This means that they have other films with the use of
weapons during the films which makes making the of film be much
easier as by using an axe it helps to link to a horror film, also the
use colours of red help them associate to the genre, suggest danger
and blood.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: It appeal with to my
audience because they like this genre of film. It would also include
similar colours of black, greys and white, this colour scheme would
help to appeal to the audience as the dark shows the dark plot of

this case most likely an axe as mentioned in the interview. That are
seen in other horror films which that they can link with my film

• What this says about my audience: That my audience knows what
in horror and what's its about as this interview answers include the
same sort of things as the first of suspense gore and jump scares.
Also that the genre isn’t a favourite as they doesn’t watch any
horror at all as they find them too bloody but they know what is
associate with the genre which means that they have watch it a
little bit.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• My product will appeal to my audience because it will include
similar colours and weapons, to those which they included in there
answers so, I will look to include an axe in my final project. However
to try make it appeal to this person more I wont make the horror

the are really bloody.
Audience Profile
Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience
Age Range
15 • Because it will include graphic content and
include a lot of jump scares, but doesn’t
contain scene which may be traumatising or
have any nudity so it doesn’t need to be 18
Gender
Male • It contains lots of suspense, and includes
slight gore and hump scares which
stereotypically males prefer
Psychographic
Belonger • The content that appeal to this audience is
that it’s in community oriented place, so
people would go there. Also the product is
made in the UK which this audience would
prefer because they don’t want things that
are being made from outside the UK.
Social Status
Balanced • Because its made for socially conscious
groups to help them, find and help out the
community which links to this social status
because they want to help people and that
is what is seen in my trailer.
Research Evaluation
Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the
strengths and weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
• A strength would be that there is many similar products that I could research into and get some
ideas of what I could do for my final product.
• A weakness would be not trying to repeat myself with the analyse of the product for example
keep analyse the colours on every product.
– Questionnaires
• A strength is that you get a wide range of answers that will help me create my product in depth
and to get aim at the certain audience.
• A weakness is that the answer don’t always help you in the way that you want to be help in, by
having certain products you want to make but from the research it might come up with a
different answer.
– Interviews
– A strength would be that its from a range of people and not just one person, this
gives a wider view on the product that I want to make.
– A weakness would be getting similar answer to the questions which makes not as
in depth as I wanted it to be, so limited my research of there ideas of horror
Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
– I got really useful response from my survey which help my created my product, and
what to use in my poster and DVD cover with what colours, as the results from my
interviews produces similar colour answers of red, black and grey similar to the
questionnaire answer. Also the same interview answers for props in horror films. The
questionnaire and the existing products helped with the font, colours, size I should use,
as the colour should be contrasting to fit in with other horror films and the size of the
font should be big as that’s what most people wanted.. Also I got good response from
my survey which will help me create the film trailer, with how long it should be and what
should be include within the trailer. This is so the audience don’t get bored of watching
the trailer and they can get a sense of the film by having it under 3 minutes, also making
them wanting to go watch the film when it’s comes out. I also found what images and
props people associate with the genre, for example: mask, knife and haunted house in a
forest etc. Therefore the audience would recognize the genre of the film by the images
that have been shown and the trailer with the scenes being used throughout the trailer.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
– A advantage is that you can get answers from a range of people, for example age, gender,
social status and with different psychographic. This makes its easier to created a product
because you will know who are you main audience is, and what they want/ look for in the
product
– A disadvantage is that it can take a while to get answers or enough answers to start evaluation
of the answer, and only those which I emailed or sent the link to were able to answer so it’s a
smaller amount of people then I wanted answered.

  • 2. Existing Product Location: It’s in the middle of a dark, misty forest, which has negative connotations which gives it a creepy feel because the house is in the middle of nowhere. It produces questions as to why the person is just standing in the mist of lake, with why the is a noose hanging from a tree. Angle: The angle is a landscape angle, which get more of the landscape in the picture. The angle of the photo is a long shot on so they get the house with forest in the background, setting up the scene Lighting: The lighting is very dark, this is so it will give a mysterious feel to location and make more horror like. The audience would prefer a darker lighting because if it was light it would be associate the film to be a happy film, but when the lighting is dark it’s usual a horror or a creepy film. Audience appeal: The appeal to the audience is that it’s set in a forest, with a surrounding mist with a shadow in the mist. This appeals to the older 15+ audience as it creates suspense over what is happening or going to happen This doesn’t advertise or promote a film but it does intrigue the audience to what’s happening
  • 3. Existing Product Location: It’s in the middle of the forest, which gives it’s a horror feel to the DVD cover. Also with Jason in the middle of the forest with not a lot light surrounding him makes look more threating. Lighting: It’s very dark by Jason not having not much light around him, meaning his features aren’t clear, so only his outline is visible which makes him more creepy and mysterious. Angle: The angle is facing upwards towards Jason, to give him a more of scary look on the front cover. It’s a mid angle to give the effect of emphasising how big Jason is and haunting. This intrigues the audience to make them want to buy the film Audience appeal: The appeal is that it’s horror film to a well know character, also it’s a remake of the original Friday the 13th. This helps the audience appeal as many having already seen the original will be interested in the remark to be able to compare. The main gender would be male because the use blood and gore seen on the cover, this would more for the male gender because most male prefer that to women, because some women don’t enjoy films or covers with blood and gore seen on them.
  • 4. Existing Product Angle: The angle is facing upwards towards Jason, to give him a more of scary look on the front cover. It’s a mid angle to give the effect of how big Jason is and haunting. Location: It’s in the middle of the forest, which gives it’s a horror feel to the DVD cover. Also with Jason in the middle of the forest with not a lot light surrounding him makes look more threating. Lighting: It’s very dark by Jason not having not much light around him which makes him more creepy and mysterious. This advertises and promotes Friday the 13th clearly as the only words on the poster are the title Audience appeal: The appeal is that it’s horror film to a well know character, also it’s a remake of the original Friday the 13th. The age would be 15+ because the character use in the poster is seen in other films, that are very bloody and has a lot of gore, therefore the appropriate age rating would 15+ .
  • 5. Existing Product Colours: It has a mixture of colour from light red to black and grey. This gives it’s a sense of horror and makes the poster stand out more to the audience so when they see the poster, it will make them want to go and see it the film. Location: It’s in the middle of the lake which gives it a creepy feel to the poster. Also the lake is covered in blood to give it a sense of creepiness and horror to the poster, this would help people identify the film as a horror film. Angle: The angle is a forward angle of forest which shows all the forest. The angle is long so it gets the effect of the lake cover in blood, to give a horror effect. Audience appeal: It’s appeals to the audience because this poster uses a mixture of colours to make it appeal more to the audience for a horror movie. The social status would be balanced because the community would want to help each other to solve who the murderer is and to help people to escape the lake of the killer.
  • 6. Existing Product Colours: It has one main colours of blue and white, this makes the poster more eye catching to the audience by having a strong contrast from other film poster for example the conjuring. Also the represent what the film is going to be like, with the dark colours. Location: The location of the poster is in a mysterious place because it seems outside a prison cell with no surrounding light, but there’s a light shining through the key hole. Which makes the cell seem like it is outside. This makes the atmosphere creepy because you don’t know what's on the other side of the cell. Angle: It’s a close up at the hand and key holes. This gives the effect of mystery because, the audience won’t know what the person or creature is. This would make the audience want to watch because they would want to find out what the creature/person is and what is behind the key hole. This product works as it made to advertise the film, and the image intrigues the audience as to what has happened Audience appeal: The appeal to the audience is that it’s the last film in the series of them which would make them want to watch it to see what happens in the final section of the storyline. This makes the audience know what the genre the film is or that it has dark connotations towards the plot. Location: The location is outside a house in the middle of the forest, which give a effect of fear because, a lot of people are have fears of being alone in house in the middle of nowhere. • 8. Research Analysis • What common features do the researched products have? • They all use dark colours, such as blacks, and navy with a contrasting bright title, to make it stands out to the audience. Also the 3 of them have a mist over the top of Jason and the shadow person. So all the Friday the 13th and the uninvited have the colour black around the edge creating the dark theme of the horror film, making the middle of the image more eye catching as it stands out against the black, so it means the important things can be put in the middle as that’s what the audience is most likely to look at. But insidious uses lighter colours but still has the colour contrast where the lightest colour is in the middle drawing the eye. • What aspects of the research will you include within your on work? • I will include the mist and the dark colours of the posters, to set the scene of the genre for the audience with the bright contrasting colours of the title. I will use a dark colour round the edge similar to the Friday the 13th posters and DVD covers and the uninvited so that only a figure is visible as I think this is very effective and eye catching. I will also include the dark colours in my trailer by only filming in black and white to have similar effect of old fashioned movies.
  • 10. Audience research • Observation: 77% of people are under 18. • What this says about my audience: • That my audience is younger as the majority are under 18 with 77%. With a small percentage being within 18-24 and 45-54. This is something I should consider when producing my products so that they are suitable for those under 18 • How will your product appeal to this audience: • My product would appeal to this audience because it would include things that would appeal more to a younger audience, than an older one, as many younger people see horror as being adult and is therefore makes them feel older by watching it. However it would also still include graphic content that could scare younger viewer, so I will have to take this into consideration
  • 11. Audience research • Observation: just under 70% of people are male. • What this says about my audience: • That most of my audience are male with 68%, while female audience is 21%. Therefore I should target my audience towards males, but not make it exclusively for male as there is still females. • How will your product appeal to this audience: • My products will appeal to both of my audience because it would content that appeal to both male & female, by not having anything that would make it favour one gender over the other.
  • 12. Audience research • Observation: 90% of my audience white or Caucasian. • What this says about my audience: • That 90% of my audience come from a white or Caucasian background, while 10% come from an African. Therefore the majority of the audience are white or Caucasian • How will your product appeal to this audience: • My product will appeal to all ethnic groups because it won’t have anything that would favour one over the other, by not having stereotypes to their ethnic backgrounds, however I can take it in to consideration that I can include factors which white or Caucasian relate to more the African.
  • 13. Audience research • Observation: That the colours of red, black and grey are the most common colours associate with horror. • What this says about my audience: • That my audience know what colours are associated with horror for colours, and the same colours came up a lot, showing that used of these colour, will signify horror to the audience • How will your product appeal to this audience: • My product will appeal to the audience because it will include many of the colours that have been mentioned and many more other colours to help aid the product. Also the colours will seen in other horror films which make it similar to other, which would make it more appealing to the audience as they will able to make connection by glancing at the dark colours used that the genre is most likely horror, so they know what to expect
  • 14. Audience research • Observation: That the majority of people are wanting a trailer a least 2 minutes. • What this says about my audience: • That my audience prefer a longer trailer which will contain more information and insight into the plot of the film to a quick 30 seconds. • How will your product appeal to this audience: • My product will appeal to my the audience because it will be between 1-3 minutes long. This will make sure that the audience will not get bored during the trailer as its not too long but also has enough time to show the basics of the lot and sets it up so it’s entertaining for the audience to watch.
  • 15. Audience research • Observation: That 65% of people wanted the name of the film and with release date being a 25%. • What this says about my audience: • That the audience find the title of the film the most important feature on a film poster shown by the survey results showing that the majority of people want the name of the film on the poster so they know what they are watching with 65% of people. Also with 25% of people wanting the release date on the poster, shows that the release is the second most important feature to include on the poster, followed by the actors • How will your product appeal to this audience: My product will include the name of the film and the release date of the film to give the audience more information about the film. This will let the audience know when the films is coming out, also what actors are in the film to make them watch the film more.
  • 16. Audience research • Observation: That the audience wanting colours and a big title with 5 people. • What this says about my audience: • That to have a poster to stand out to the rest its important to have big title and colours with a good fonts. As knowing the name of the films is important. • How will your product appeal to this audience: • My product will appeal to the audience because it will include large writing with colours that stand out from the rest, also the font will make different from the rest of them, this will make the product eye catching for the audience to look at and to read.
  • 17. Audience research • Observation: 100% of people wanted the writing to large and to have some sort of colours to go with. • What this says about my audience: • This says that my audience want a big writing and a colour to make the poster & DVD cover stand from other products. • How will your product appeal to this audience: • My product will appeal to the audience because it will include large writing to make the product stand out more from other similar products. This make the product more eye catching to the audience to look at because if the poster is boring and not having much colours the audience won’t look at all, because of how boring its is.
  • 18. Audience research • Observation: That 75% of people associate blood, forest & weapons with horror. • What this says about my audience: • This say that my audience associate many of weapons & blood with horror, with it also it also being in a forest as well, therefore this would help to set the scene for the audience by using these within my product • How will your product appeal to this audience: • It I will include the blood and the weapons with the mask, with the creepy forest. This would make the images use link to the horror theme for the poster and covers. This would make the audience know what they are looking at and what genre it is. By including blood, weapons and a forest within my product this would help the product appeal to the audience as it set the scene of the genre of the product so the audience know what they are expecting
  • 19. Audience research • Observation: 4 people want the bright colours to make the DVD cover stand out more with the picture and the title. • What this says about my audience: • This say that my audience have a want a bright colours and bold image to make the cover stand out more than other DVD cover. • How will your product appeal to this audience: • My product will appeal to the audience because it will include many of the things that were mention in the answer, because if the cover has bold image and text it would make the audience want to look at the cover and see what the film is about. Also to see what age rating is the film.

Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each method – Product Research • A strength would be that there is many similar products that I could research into and get some ideas of what I could do for my final product. • A weakness would be not trying to repeat myself with the analyse of the product for example keep analyse the colours on every product. – Questionnaires • A strength is that you get a wide range of answers that will help me create my product in depth and to get aim at the certain audience. • A weakness is that the answer don’t always help you in the way that you want to be help in, by having certain products you want to make but from the research it might come up with a different answer. – Interviews – A strength would be that its from a range of people and not just one person, this gives a wider view on the product that I want to make. – A weakness would be getting similar answer to the questions which makes not as in depth as I wanted it to be, so limited my research of there ideas of horror
  • 28. Research Evaluation – What sort of a response did you get? – I got really useful response from my survey which help my created my product, and what to use in my poster and DVD cover with what colours, as the results from my interviews produces similar colour answers of red, black and grey similar to the questionnaire answer. Also the same interview answers for props in horror films. The questionnaire and the existing products helped with the font, colours, size I should use, as the colour should be contrasting to fit in with other horror films and the size of the font should be big as that’s what most people wanted.. Also I got good response from my survey which will help me create the film trailer, with how long it should be and what should be include within the trailer. This is so the audience don’t get bored of watching the trailer and they can get a sense of the film by having it under 3 minutes, also making them wanting to go watch the film when it’s comes out. I also found what images and props people associate with the genre, for example: mask, knife and haunted house in a forest etc. Therefore the audience would recognize the genre of the film by the images that have been shown and the trailer with the scenes being used throughout the trailer. – How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage – A advantage is that you can get answers from a range of people, for example age, gender, social status and with different psychographic. This makes its easier to created a product because you will know who are you main audience is, and what they want/ look for in the product – A disadvantage is that it can take a while to get answers or enough answers to start evaluation of the answer, and only those which I emailed or sent the link to were able to answer so it’s a smaller amount of people then I wanted answered.
