2. Location
• The planning for location isn't that hard to figure out for me as it will be a piece recorded in a
maximum of 2 locations those being my house and York College the easy part of this is that I can
record in both locations fairly easily as there is resources to make that possible in both my home
and college, the only issue that maybe arise with the locates and their differences is the file will
move around a lot increasing its chances of corrupting and possibly messing up my project in the
process however of course this is easily solvable again by using a USB and using multiple back ups
therefore I dot lose anything from the project no matter what.
• Location for an audio piece is less important than a video piece but still fairly important in the
long run of things due to the difference in sound and background interference over two locations
to line that up perfectly is essentially impossible therefore the majority will be filmed in just one
location to avoid this I have not made that decision just yet.
3. Time
• Time planning is the most necessary component of the planning to create a piece for a deadline
because as soon as you know it that deadline will be upon you and you'll get lost in the amount of
time you actually have left, leaving enough time to do each piece to a good enough standard is
the most important thing in the entire project other than literally sending off the pieces to the
examiners, the individual PowerPoints and the final project will all be done by the 21st of May as
that is the submission date for all this work.
• To manage time better allotting a schedule to work around is a wise idea especially if followed
closely a weekly structure will likely work the best with some end of the week goals as they go
which makes the piece the best possible and also gives me enough time to just work on these
things.
4. Personnel
• The organisation of the personnel is a major goal of mine to overcome as with the piece I have
never actually been to Tombstone therefore to get a more authentic story and to be taught a little
more about the place I will be speaking to various people in Tombstone, AZ this will obviously be
difficult to do due to the lack of connections I actually have to the place, however due to the
internet and slightly I part to the covid landscape this will arguably be an easier task than before
as people are much more available on calling platforms such as zoom and skype.
• The other personnel in this piece will be the narrator which will be me and possibly a couple of
others will lend their voices to this piece and make it work but for now I am only planning o
having my own In the piece, it could of course all change and I could have a couple of people
contribute their voices but for now the plan is much more of a solo piece itself.
5. Meetings/Interviews
• I will be conducting interviews with a few people who know about Tombstone, and a couple who
live in tombstone now so experts and residents so I can learn more about the place I am talking
about from these people hopefully in order to do it the most justice possible when I make my
piece combining both facts and also folklore into this piece I feel is the best way I can possibly do
this. The interviews that I will be conducting are question and answer structured interviews in
order to gain more information about the projects themselves and the history of the area a bit
more.
• The interviews will be conducted over zoom most likely as this is the easiest platform for
Americans to use to connect with people in the UK which of course in this case would be me ill
schedule the meetings with the individuals who are taking part in it.
6. Sound
• In my project I will be using various sound apps such as Adobe Audition, Premiere and Audacity to
attempt to balance this projects voice, music and effects as effectively as possible and make the
best project possible that I can make, the balancing will be mainly done on audacity to attempt to
get all sounds at an even base volume and be used effectively so the use of audacity wont be
major but it will still be included in my piece as the piece will be a higher quality if do.
• In the Adobe applications I will use them to manipulate the audio primarily in audition to create a
group sound so the audio comes out as well as possible the use of audition will very likely be
necessary should I have recorded the sound in more than one location which is very likely to be
the case in the end as its unlikely I get all of it recorded in the same place, the use of premiere will
be I order to cut audio and shave clips down as it is just a personal preference to me to use that
program above others as the audio editing section is very in depth and surprisingly good for a
primarily video editing application this is why I will be using it.
7. Post-Production
• In post production I will be evaluating my own piece and getting evaluation from other people for
the piece itself I will not be doing feedback on the planning or anything like that I will just be
evaluating the final piece as that is the main evaluation point. In post I will also be doing final
editing cuts and other bits around it on top of evaluation and adding various sound effects to the
piece this may include recording my own sound effects and working on them that way or just
downloading some royalty free sounds that will be able to be used for the piece.
• Other parts I things I will do in post production will be sorting the various interviewers quotes into
production itself because I am still in two minds of whether to use someone else's voice in the
piece because I would really like to use just mine but the input from the people in the know
would add more authenticity and maybe make the piece have more marks but at the same time I
don’t think I'm happy with having that in there just for the sake of it when I would arguably be
happier having the piece as good as I can make it in my own eyes.
