Production Process Evaluation
Research
• I specifically found one which was my favourite to talk about as it is so a like to my
plan so it helped me to get better professional ideas I explored what all the 3 existing
products had in common and how they linked with my audio book. In the research I
also explored my audience profile this was very helpful because beforehand I was
unsure on who my audience was targeted at but when looking at the social status ad
psychographics I had a better idea and knew which appealed to my female audience,
my secondary research audience would be older males as this causes a disaster ad
could sound intense to this audience also. However a weakness was I didn't’t really
know fully how to create an audiobook and at the beginning I did get confused on
the difference between an audio book and podcast so for in the future I would need
to do some research beforehand and know the steps to producing this, therefore it
would have been a lot more easier for me.
The strengths in my research were I was able to
look for existing audio books using Spotify and
YouTube and explore them into more detail
therefore this gave me a better understanding
and ideas for my audio.
Planning
• I began my planning by completing the script for my audio book I briefly
typed this out but when actually recording I added a lot more detail when
reading the script out. Secondly, I completed the pre-production PowerPoint
this involved the sound effects an music which I mostly found on bensounds
and this was quite simple and easy to find because I already knew and
planned out the exact sound effects in my script. The schedule slide I also
found very useful so it helped me to plan out an order of how I will complete
my project it was almost like a plan or to do list. My weakness was definitely
the health and safety and contingency planning because I struggled with
finding that many different ideas. This would have an effect on my product
because if a disaster happened for example my computer crashes I wouldn't
have a plan on how to resolve this. I did also struggle with the script because
I only wrote it quickly so when it came to recording I had to think quickly off
the top of my had to add more detail this also cause me to mess up and have
to keep re-recording this results in time management.
Time Management
Within the time I had to complete my whole project I think I managed my
time very efficiently and it was successful as near the end I was ahead with
most PowerPoints, I also didn't have to cast that many people which was a
benefit because it didn't’t take as long to record or get that many people
together so it was quite easy and simple. I completed all my work in college
and didn't have to finish any at home therefore this was also another
benefit of having a lot more free time when completing PowerPoints.
However editing my audio in premier was the most time consuming bit this
is because when adding my sound effects my audio messed up in premier
resulting me in having to re start when I found out the audio wasn’t long
enough so I then had to restart ad add the sound effects in again luckily I
saved them in my project 6 file and where easy to locate. If I would have had
more time I would of made my audio a bit more longer adding more sound
effects this would have made my audio a bit more understandable and
better in general.
Technical Qualities
Existing audio book=

QZ10Yxo6V0
My audio book=
Both the audios are similar because the storyline is very similar in these exact
episodes because they include a setting of in the airport and a tragic disaster
happens to one character which these are both female characters, the main sound
effect of the background airport noises are featured in both audios all the way till it
ends and they both have background music at the beginning before the audiobook
starts I think this lays out the audio a lot better. These were also both families in
each audiobook and both going on holiday. Lastly they use both informal language
throughout the whole audio.
However there is a few differences within each audio book because the characters
aren’t all the same and don’t specifically talk about anything that is similar to my
own audio characters. My audio book is also a lot shorter as the existing audio is
over 7 minutes long and includes a lot more detail, and the storyline near the end is
a lot different as mine is left on a cliff-hanger whereas the existing gets past the
disaster on the first episode.
Aural Qualities
Furthermore, I believe that my work does sound good an was creative as I did spend
a lot of my time pursuing the storyline plan through mind maps and writing down
extra notes in my notebook to make sure it made sense to myself and would for my
audience. The main aspects of my product which I love was definitely the sound
effects and background music this is because at first I didn’t potentially think I was
able to find the exact sounds effects I was looking for and wrote in my plan but when
looking on ben sounds I was able to find one very similar and they matched perfect
and made my audio complete and stand out a lot more than I was expecting.my
favourite sound effect was the airport atmosphere as it made it a lot more clear and
easier for my audience to picture the setting and this was my goal for my audio. I
also did like the turn out of how I edited my audio on premier as I was struggling
with getting the sound effects in the right places but after I managed to correct it, it
turned out perfectly. On the other hand I would improve the quality of my audio (the
setting) because I did record in a hallway which echoed a lot and there was
background noise which when it came to editing it made it harder for me as I had to
edit the volume settings, therefore I would improve this by recording in a place with
a less busy atmosphere maybe even at home so there isn’t many distractions. As well
as I would also improve my script as I know for a fact I rushed through this process
because I wanted to record my audio so I could begin editing so my script wasn’t as
detailed as I would have liked it to be because I wrote short sentences which my
characters were saying, I would have improved this by spending a lot more time and
putting more detail and effort into the script and making sure I have enough time to
complete everything else instead of rushing through it.
Audience Appeal
My audience is aimed at females aged 16-40s this is my primary target audience because
my audiobook involves characters which are ranged around this age so I believe that my
audience will be able to connect with the characters. And I made this audio an audiobook
in which you have to listen to, to understand so you can picture this in real life (Asif you
are there) this will reflect on an older audience so they understand more. Therefore, my
secondary audience men aged 30-50s I chose this because I believe older men would enjoy
more of a drama, disaster audio book and would find It interesting. The specific bits such
as the sound effects of the background music is more calm and relaxing in which I believe
this is what my audience-women prefer this music features at the opening and ending of
my audiobook. I also think the storyline of my audio being set on a holiday scene appeals
to this audience because women tend to enjoy a holiday and they enjoy tragic disasters in
films and being left with a cliff hanger. One of the characters in my audio is a ‘mum’ and
my audience age range are mostly mums so its very similar. On the other hand my
psychographic category is achievers I chose this because it is there own personal account
of there holiday this then means this is individuality and also the holiday destinations will
be desirable which I mentioned beforehand of this appealing towards my audience this
links to the wealth and power towards achievers. Lastly, the social status I chose was
needs driven this appeals to my audience as my audio is mainly about the needs of a child
doing something which involves a ‘disaster’ for example in the first existing product the
girl character was determined to see the wales this cause and disaster to occur.
Peer
Feedback
Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– Good sound effects that were used
– Good script for characters to say
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Could have made it a little longer
Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the sound effects.
– The story was very interesting.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Ava could of been more enthusiastic.
Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– The thing I like the most about this product is the way
jess included an airport audio to create the busy
atmosphere.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Ava could have improved how enthusiastic she was
when saying her lines in the script.
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I agree with the feedback of my audio could have been a
bit more longer because it was over 2 minutes but for next
time I would have wanted to improve how long my
storyline was and make it longer and more understandable
for my audience. I also agree with that my sound effects
were good as I planned out the sound effects beforehand
to make sure they were good.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– I disagree with that one of my characters didn’t put as
much effort in as that’s how I did want my characters voice
to sound like and in the end it matched the voice and
when listening to it, it was just how I expected it to turn
out for me to match my plan.
Peer Feedback Summary
Overall, from my feedback I would make a few change for
example I think my audiobook wasn’t as long as I had
planned as I though my script would make it a lot longer but
it resulted in being very short at the beginning. This leads
onto my script which I also would change the story plan a bit
because I didn’t like the outcome of the girl going missing I
would have rather done were she falls in the deep pool just
like the existing product example because I think that one
was a lot better than mine. Although I disagreed with my
characters not putting much effort in I think next time I
would practice with them beforehand to see if they would
match that character as I rushed and recorded straight away
and used that audio.

Secondly, I completed the pre-production PowerPoint this involved the sound effects an music which I mostly found on bensounds and this was quite simple and easy to find because I already knew and planned out the exact sound effects in my script. The schedule slide I also found very useful so it helped me to plan out an order of how I will complete my project it was almost like a plan or to do list. My weakness was definitely the health and safety and contingency planning because I struggled with finding that many different ideas. This would have an effect on my product because if a disaster happened for example my computer crashes I wouldn't have a plan on how to resolve this. I did also struggle with the script because I only wrote it quickly so when it came to recording I had to think quickly off the top of my had to add more detail this also cause me to mess up and have to keep re-recording this results in time management.
  • 5. Time Management Within the time I had to complete my whole project I think I managed my time very efficiently and it was successful as near the end I was ahead with most PowerPoints, I also didn't have to cast that many people which was a benefit because it didn't’t take as long to record or get that many people together so it was quite easy and simple. I completed all my work in college and didn't have to finish any at home therefore this was also another benefit of having a lot more free time when completing PowerPoints. However editing my audio in premier was the most time consuming bit this is because when adding my sound effects my audio messed up in premier resulting me in having to re start when I found out the audio wasn’t long enough so I then had to restart ad add the sound effects in again luckily I saved them in my project 6 file and where easy to locate. If I would have had more time I would of made my audio a bit more longer adding more sound effects this would have made my audio a bit more understandable and better in general.
  • 6. Technical Qualities Existing audio book= https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydP1_PiCDKs&list=PLusg82NCLi1JH9mAPakF1Un QZ10Yxo6V0 My audio book= Both the audios are similar because the storyline is very similar in these exact episodes because they include a setting of in the airport and a tragic disaster happens to one character which these are both female characters, the main sound effect of the background airport noises are featured in both audios all the way till it ends and they both have background music at the beginning before the audiobook starts I think this lays out the audio a lot better. These were also both families in each audiobook and both going on holiday. Lastly they use both informal language throughout the whole audio. However there is a few differences within each audio book because the characters aren’t all the same and don’t specifically talk about anything that is similar to my own audio characters. My audio book is also a lot shorter as the existing audio is over 7 minutes long and includes a lot more detail, and the storyline near the end is a lot different as mine is left on a cliff-hanger whereas the existing gets past the disaster on the first episode.
  • 7. Aural Qualities Furthermore, I believe that my work does sound good an was creative as I did spend a lot of my time pursuing the storyline plan through mind maps and writing down extra notes in my notebook to make sure it made sense to myself and would for my audience. The main aspects of my product which I love was definitely the sound effects and background music this is because at first I didn’t potentially think I was able to find the exact sounds effects I was looking for and wrote in my plan but when looking on ben sounds I was able to find one very similar and they matched perfect and made my audio complete and stand out a lot more than I was expecting.my favourite sound effect was the airport atmosphere as it made it a lot more clear and easier for my audience to picture the setting and this was my goal for my audio. I also did like the turn out of how I edited my audio on premier as I was struggling with getting the sound effects in the right places but after I managed to correct it, it turned out perfectly. On the other hand I would improve the quality of my audio (the setting) because I did record in a hallway which echoed a lot and there was background noise which when it came to editing it made it harder for me as I had to edit the volume settings, therefore I would improve this by recording in a place with a less busy atmosphere maybe even at home so there isn’t many distractions. As well as I would also improve my script as I know for a fact I rushed through this process because I wanted to record my audio so I could begin editing so my script wasn’t as detailed as I would have liked it to be because I wrote short sentences which my characters were saying, I would have improved this by spending a lot more time and putting more detail and effort into the script and making sure I have enough time to complete everything else instead of rushing through it.
  • 8. Audience Appeal My audience is aimed at females aged 16-40s this is my primary target audience because my audiobook involves characters which are ranged around this age so I believe that my audience will be able to connect with the characters. And I made this audio an audiobook in which you have to listen to, to understand so you can picture this in real life (Asif you are there) this will reflect on an older audience so they understand more. Therefore, my secondary audience men aged 30-50s I chose this because I believe older men would enjoy more of a drama, disaster audio book and would find It interesting. The specific bits such as the sound effects of the background music is more calm and relaxing in which I believe this is what my audience-women prefer this music features at the opening and ending of my audiobook. I also think the storyline of my audio being set on a holiday scene appeals to this audience because women tend to enjoy a holiday and they enjoy tragic disasters in films and being left with a cliff hanger. One of the characters in my audio is a ‘mum’ and my audience age range are mostly mums so its very similar. On the other hand my psychographic category is achievers I chose this because it is there own personal account of there holiday this then means this is individuality and also the holiday destinations will be desirable which I mentioned beforehand of this appealing towards my audience this links to the wealth and power towards achievers. Lastly, the social status I chose was needs driven this appeals to my audience as my audio is mainly about the needs of a child doing something which involves a ‘disaster’ for example in the first existing product the girl character was determined to see the wales this cause and disaster to occur.
  • 10. Feedback 1 • What did you like about the product? – Good sound effects that were used – Good script for characters to say • What improvements could have been made to the product? – Could have made it a little longer
  • 11. Feedback 2 • What did you like about the product? – I like the sound effects. – The story was very interesting. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – Ava could of been more enthusiastic.
  • 12. Feedback 3 • What did you like about the product? – The thing I like the most about this product is the way jess included an airport audio to create the busy atmosphere. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – Ava could have improved how enthusiastic she was when saying her lines in the script.
  • 13. Peer Feedback Summary • What do you agree with from your peer feedback? – I agree with the feedback of my audio could have been a bit more longer because it was over 2 minutes but for next time I would have wanted to improve how long my storyline was and make it longer and more understandable for my audience. I also agree with that my sound effects were good as I planned out the sound effects beforehand to make sure they were good. • What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? – I disagree with that one of my characters didn’t put as much effort in as that’s how I did want my characters voice to sound like and in the end it matched the voice and when listening to it, it was just how I expected it to turn out for me to match my plan.
  • 14. Peer Feedback Summary Overall, from my feedback I would make a few change for example I think my audiobook wasn’t as long as I had planned as I though my script would make it a lot longer but it resulted in being very short at the beginning. This leads onto my script which I also would change the story plan a bit because I didn’t like the outcome of the girl going missing I would have rather done were she falls in the deep pool just like the existing product example because I think that one was a lot better than mine. Although I disagreed with my characters not putting much effort in I think next time I would practice with them beforehand to see if they would match that character as I rushed and recorded straight away and used that audio.
