Institutions research powerpoint 2
1. What kind of media institution
might distribute my media
product?
By Kenza Hardy
2. Bauer Media
• Bauer media are a cross media
convergence group that owns a
number of established brands
like 4 Music and Mother and
Baby. They target a younger
audience and they mainly focus
on music. however they market
news and radio.
3. Bauer Media
• They are European based which
manages a collection of over 600
magazines, 400 digital products
and 50 radio and TV stations all
over the world. These include
brands like Q and Kerrang and 4
Music. Bauer Media was
founded in 1875 and is based in
Hamburg, Germany.
4. Bauer Media
• Bauer media has employed 11,000
people worldwide. The Bauer
Media Group operates in 19
countries including the UK,
Germany, Poland, Australia, New
Zealand and the USA.
• This will help with trade and profits
because of the location of the
company. Due to having so many
employees based all over the world
it means the company can be
marketed in other countries.
5. Relevancy to my magazine
• Bauer media currently does not
publish a Jazz magazine. This
leaves a gap in the market for
my magazine. Bauer is one of
the most popular companies
worldwide and due to being
world wide will increase
opportunities to sell copies of
my magazine. This means that
my magazine will get advertised
with large brands.
6. Relevancy
• Although it will be difficult to find an audience at first, it shouldn’t
take too long as Bauer’s products are mainly for a similar target
audience to my magazine.
7. News Corp
• News Corp is another mass
media company. News Corp is a
spin off from the previous
company News Corporation. The
company are based in New York
and was founded in 2013 so it is
a relatively knew company. News
Corp mainly focus on
Newspapers and publishing.
However they also own fox
Entertainment Group.
8. News Corp
• Some of the major brands of
news Corp are The Sun, The
times and the New York Post.
9. Relevancy to my magazine.
• Upon reflection News Corp
would not be a good institution
to distribute and produce my
magazine as the genre of my
magazine would not suit or fit
into the existing brands under
the umbrella of News Corp.
10. Relevancy to my magazine.
• Therefore to help my magazine reach its intended target and to
ensure that my magazine was available and promoted to the
audience, it would be better off being publicised under a institution
that would greater serve the needs of the magazine.
11. Relevancy to my magazine.
• News Corp mainly focus on newspapers so this would not be a good
audience for my magazine. Even though there is a gap in the market
in this institution for my magazine, copies would not sell as the
brands produce suggest that it has an older target audience.
12. Rhinegold Publishing
Rhinegold publishing is a UK
based media institution which
produces magazines for the music
and performing arts. They publish
magazines such as Classical
Magazine and Opera Magazine.
13. Rhinegold Publishing
• Rhinegold cover a wide variety
of topics ranging from singing to
instrument works and also
magazines for teachers. They
even produce brochures and
leaflets for clients.
14. Relevancy to my magazine
• Rhinegold is relevant for my
magazine due to the existing genre
of magazines the institution
already caters for. I believe that my
magazine will fit in well to the
umbrella of magazines already
distributed because it not only
suits the intended target audience
but opens the magazine up to a
new audience by forming close
links to other magazines such as an
interest in an instrument or styles
e.g. clarinet, trumpet.
15. Upon Reflection
• Upon reflection, the best institution to publish my jazz magazine is
RhineGold Publishings. This is because they already publish classical
magazines and as a result of this a lot of classical instrumentalists
would be interested in having a go at jazz. For example, clarinet and
trumpet players. Also due to them not producing a jazz magazine
already, there is a large gap in the market for my product.
