2. Bauer Media Group is a large European-based media company,
founded in 1875. Headquartered in Hamburg, Germany that
manages a portfolio of more than 600 magazines, over 400
digital products and 50 radio and TV stations around the world.
The portfolio extends to include print shops, postal,
distribution and marketing services. Bauer Media Group
has a workforce of approximately 11,000 employees in 17
countries.
The company owns some of the most know
and established brands in the UK. Such as Q
magazine, Heat and Empire.
3. Time Inc. UK, a wholly owned subsidiary of Time
Inc., is a consumer magazine and digital publisher in
the United Kingdom, with a large portfolio selling
over 350 million copies each year. Founded in 1968
United Kingdom.
-One of the largest media
distributors in the world.
-A monthly audience viewing
of over 120 million people
globally.
Although Time Inc Uk is an very
recognized and successful
institution , It wouldn’t be the best
to consider for my magazine as
their audience is based on music
more than lifestyle and cultural
magazines. Due to the lack of this
influence this institution wouldn’t
be very beneficial for my
magazine.
4. Immediate media has 75 different brand,
including some in which are significantly
popular and well known. Such as Mr Men Little
Miss and Bob The Builder. In addition to this
the institution tend to target their work to a
younger audience viewing.
However they do own lifestyle magazine
which aim at a older audience of young
adults+. The company shares a reliable
link with the established BBC company.
Awarded media company of the year
2015.
5. Which Institution would benefit
my magazine the most?
All three of these institutions are very well established and would be suitable to publish my
own magazine. However I feel as though there’s one in particular that would help and
support my products best. This institution is Bauer, which is a very experienced institution
that manages a portfolio of more than 600 magazines. Their wide range magazine genres
makes this institution stand out from the rest, suggesting they won’t have a problem selling
my magazine. As they have the knowledge and understanding required to distribute a
lifestyle magazine that will also be regional.
Although Time.Inc has a much larger volume of following and could have been a suitable
institution to use, I don’t think they have the same experience and range of genres
compared to Bauer. This makes me inquisitive to whether a regional lifestyle magazine
would be successful coming from a incaution that has very rarely handled them before. As
for Immediate Media I believe this institution was the least suitable as they tend to aims at
a much younger audience, which suggests to me that this isn’t the place for my magazine
as my audience are of a much older and matured age.
