Research
• What were the strengths of your research?
• One strength of my research was that I chose a variety of existing
products. I had professional adults magazines to kids magazines.
• How did your research help your product?
• It helped my product because through out I chose if I was going to a dull,
simple, but more professional magazine or a colourful, complex, but more
childish magazine. I chose to do a more complex one as I could use more
techniques.
• What were the weaknesses of your research?
• There wasn’t really any weaknesses of my research.
• What could you have done better/improve?
• I could have written a tiny bit more on the first slide.
• What effect would this have had on your product?
• It didn’t really have any effect.
Planning
• What were the strengths of your planning?
• One strength of my planning was that I got the chance to pick the style of the product. For this one
I chose to do fonts and colours. This helped in my magazine a lot as I got a chance to see which one
would work and wouldn’t. another strength would be that I got the chance to plan out my
magazine and to see where all my writing/ pictures will go. Also I got the chance to plan for all the
contingencies.
• How did your planning help your product?
• It helped it a lot because I had the chance to plan potential things before they actually happened. It
was good because it lifted a lot of weight off my shoulders. It helped me think off things before I
actually put them in my final product and it also helped me plan the contingencies.
• What were the weaknesses of your planning?
• One weakness was that I felt that it was a waste of time and this made me not actually think
thourerly through all of it.
• What could you have done better/improve?
• I could have concentrated more throughout the work and thought of more things to say
before I tackled it in the actual product.
• What effect would this have had on your product?
• It made my final planning not as thought through as I didn’t think of good enough things to
plan out.
Time Management
• Did you manage your time well?
• Yes I managed my time really well on this project as I got all my things in
on time and I felt good with them. Until I got to the actual project. I took
so long on the magazine cover I forgot all about the inside and I had to
rush through it to get it in on time.
• Did you complete your project on time or would your products have
improved with additional time?
• I would have improved my inside of my magazine if I had more time.
• What would you have done if you had more time to produce your work?
• I would have changed the colour scheme and maybe added more photos
and more stories.
Technical QualitiesI have a masthead at the top
of the screen in the biggest
size because this is the main
part of my magazine. We have both got
a big main image
that is big,
however mine
covers the whole
front page where
as theirs has a
section with the
title in.
I have sub images and
headings on my
magazine where as
they have not got any
images and very little
headings.
I have more of a story
going on my magazine
where as you cannot tell
what is going on in the
other magazine
I have a big price tag on
my magazine and on
theirs they don’t have one
that you can easily see.
Aesthetic Qualities
I like the fact that her head is in
front of the title. It makes it look
really professional and part of the
picture.
I like the vs sign in the picture. It shows that there
is a conflict/competition between the two brands.
However the vs sign is pretty big and gets in the
way of the people a bit.
I like the sub images because they make the
audience more curious of what has happened to
the two people.
All of the sub headings are good because they make the audience more interested.
Saying that there is exclusive images it would make the audience more intrigued with the
story and want to read about it. The names of the people are also good as they are some
peoples idols and they want to see what has gone on
Audience Appeal
My front cover has a male
and a female on the front
because I am expressing the
fact that both sexuality's are
accepted.
My target audience would like
bright colours because students
are more known to like bright
colours.
I advertised it as £3.99 for
students. Students are not
normally wealth or have a
lot of money.
The names of the people attract the audience because some people idolise
these people and want to read more about the story.
Peer
Feedback
Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– The colour scheme is bright and vibrant which makes it eye
catching for the audience. The visuals are of a high quality and
directly relate to the genre of the magazine. The fonts suit the
aesthetic style and the layout meets conventions.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
– There could be more variety for cover stories and extra
subheadings to give wider context to the content as the cover
lines are quite brief. The use of white space is good however it
makes the article look quite sparse in comparison so possibly
adding a gradient or simplistic background would make the
double page spread more visually interesting. The font size of
the article is quite large and the text isn’t set out into sections.
Page number is needed on double page spread.
Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I like that you have made the text stand out
– You have put some main headlines on the front
cover.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– I think that you should more of an in depth story
on the front.
Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I like how the bright colours contrast with the sub
headings and images.
– I like how the girls head it in front of the
masthead.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– You could have added more sub images to explain
the story more with out giving too much away.
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I agree with the fact that the colour scheme is bright and eye
catching.
– The visuals are suitable for the genre
– That I have main the text stand out
– I agree that “there could be more variety for cover stories and
extra subheadings to give wider context to the content as the
cover lines are quite brief”.
– I also think I could have added a more in depth story on the
front.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– I disagree with the person who said that I should add more sub
images to explain the story more as it would not make sense to
the target audience.
Peer Feedback Summary
I would add sub headings explain the story and what had happened. This is
because people don’t really know what is going on with the people. I would
also use less white space in my magazine article as it looks cheap.
