Who does Glamour appeal to? 
 Glamour is designed to appeal to women around the 20+ Mark. 
The idea of glamour is to achieve what you want, and to do so by 
being “Glamorous”. The colour schemes used in each magazine 
is meant to represent power, wealth, desire and passion. It is 
focused to women who are independent and in a middle class 
environment, since most of the women in the magazine worked 
their ways up in what ever industry they are in.
Front cover 
This magazine is designed for Women and revolves 
around Women’s glamour. It is designed to 
appeal to the target audience is various ways. 
The colour scheme is specifically designed to 
appeal to Women. Firstly, the masthead is pink. 
The colour pink is commonly associated with 
Women and glamour. The title will also appeal 
heavily to women. Stereotypically, Women are 
actively seeking Glamour and the title sells the 
magazine, Since it is portrayed as an ideology of 
what Women want. The front cover also displays 
various articles, which include “Easy beauty 
tricks” and “How to eat, drink and not gain 
weight”. The magazine also appeals to target 
audience because of the articles, which glorify 
women that are already known to be 
“Glamorous”. The model on the front is Michelle 
Obama, who is known to be a smart woman and 
is an icon to Women in America. The model is 
featuring a red dress, which is also a very 
feminine colour and is associated with strength, 
power, determination and passion. These are 
some ideologies that are commonly wanted by 
women, and this could heavily appeal to the 
target audience, since the target audience are 
women. Also, on the front cover, the language 
used heavily appeals to women. For example, 
“Cutest”. The articles featured on the front cover 
are made to relate to Women’s problems, “How to 
eat, drink and not gain weigh, yes, even during 
cookie season”, and in the eyes of the target 
audience, these are things that they can relate to. 
The background of the magazine features snow
Contents 
page 
The contents page sticks to the idea of Glamour 
and being glamorous. The colour scheme is 
used very well to attract people to this 
magazine. Firstly, the representation of colours. 
Orange is a mixture of red and yellow, so it 
combines the energy of red, and the joy and 
freshness of yellow. Orange also represents 
pleasure. The colour scheme is also reflected 
on to the model. She is wearing a red shirt, 
yellow belt, and yellow shoes. This shows 
continuity within the magazine, and also 
represents the attributes of the colours towards 
the model. The model is a woman in her 20’s, 
which also appeals to the target audience, since 
women in their 20’s are aiming to look like this. 
The model also takes up a look proportion of 
her page, which may represent being bold and 
dominant. The model can also be represented 
as quirky because of her hair style, and NVC, 
which may relate to the target audience. The 
style of the context page is also very simplistic, 
which represents it as a modern magazine, 
which means that it is designed to look as good 
and as fresh as you can. Also, the fact that it is 
clean and simple, may represent that it is not 
hard to look glamorous. These features will 
heavily appeal to the target audience because 
the style in today's society is quite retro and

spread 
 The double page spread shows an 
odd colour scheme, only showing the 
colour orange. This firstly represents 
continuity, since the magazine 
revolves around having various 
headers in orange. However, Orange 
displays desire, pleasure and 
domination. This appeals to the 
target audience, because in the 21st 
century these are stereotypically 
some of the aims of women. Also, 
the idea of the magazine “Glamour” 
aims to help women with achieving 
these goals, with the aims of the way 
you look and dress. In the top right 
of the article, it says “Fun Fearless 
Female”, which emphasises this 
point as well, as if it is a guide to 
women to achieve their goals, or 
perhaps even inspiration. The model 
is looking directly at the reader, 
which would appeal because to 
them, it is seen as a direct approach. 
The model is also wearing a fear 
coat, which shows wealth and power. 
This will heavily appeal to the target 
audience because of the fact that 
this just emphasises what they want 
to achieve. The style of the double 
page spread also represents the 
simplistic modern approach. It uses 
simple questions to interview the 
model, and it represents it in a 
simple to read and understand 
format. This will appeal to the target 
audience because there approach to

  • 2. Who does Glamour appeal to?  Glamour is designed to appeal to women around the 20+ Mark. The idea of glamour is to achieve what you want, and to do so by being “Glamorous”. The colour schemes used in each magazine is meant to represent power, wealth, desire and passion. It is focused to women who are independent and in a middle class environment, since most of the women in the magazine worked their ways up in what ever industry they are in.
  • 3. Front cover This magazine is designed for Women and revolves around Women’s glamour. It is designed to appeal to the target audience is various ways. The colour scheme is specifically designed to appeal to Women. Firstly, the masthead is pink. The colour pink is commonly associated with Women and glamour. The title will also appeal heavily to women. Stereotypically, Women are actively seeking Glamour and the title sells the magazine, Since it is portrayed as an ideology of what Women want. The front cover also displays various articles, which include “Easy beauty tricks” and “How to eat, drink and not gain weight”. The magazine also appeals to target audience because of the articles, which glorify women that are already known to be “Glamorous”. The model on the front is Michelle Obama, who is known to be a smart woman and is an icon to Women in America. The model is featuring a red dress, which is also a very feminine colour and is associated with strength, power, determination and passion. These are some ideologies that are commonly wanted by women, and this could heavily appeal to the target audience, since the target audience are women. Also, on the front cover, the language used heavily appeals to women. For example, “Cutest”. The articles featured on the front cover are made to relate to Women’s problems, “How to eat, drink and not gain weigh, yes, even during cookie season”, and in the eyes of the target audience, these are things that they can relate to.   • 4. Contents page The contents page sticks to the idea of Glamour and being glamorous. The colour scheme is used very well to attract people to this magazine. Firstly, the representation of colours. Orange is a mixture of red and yellow, so it combines the energy of red, and the joy and freshness of yellow. Orange also represents pleasure. The colour scheme is also reflected on to the model. She is wearing a red shirt, yellow belt, and yellow shoes. This shows continuity within the magazine, and also represents the attributes of the colours towards the model. The model is a woman in her 20’s, which also appeals to the target audience, since women in their 20’s are aiming to look like this. The model also takes up a look proportion of her page, which may represent being bold and dominant. The model can also be represented as quirky because of her hair style, and NVC, which may relate to the target audience. The style of the context page is also very simplistic, which represents it as a modern magazine, which means that it is designed to look as good and as fresh as you can. Also, the fact that it is clean and simple, may represent that it is not hard to look glamorous. These features will heavily appeal to the target audience because the style in today's society is quite retro and
  • 5. Double page spread  The double page spread shows an odd colour scheme, only showing the colour orange. This firstly represents continuity, since the magazine revolves around having various headers in orange. However, Orange displays desire, pleasure and domination. This appeals to the target audience, because in the 21st century these are stereotypically some of the aims of women. Also, the idea of the magazine “Glamour” aims to help women with achieving these goals, with the aims of the way you look and dress. In the top right of the article, it says “Fun Fearless Female”, which emphasises this point as well, as if it is a guide to women to achieve their goals, or perhaps even inspiration. The model is looking directly at the reader, which would appeal because to them, it is seen as a direct approach. The model is also wearing a fear coat, which shows wealth and power. This will heavily appeal to the target audience because of the fact that this just emphasises what they want to achieve. The style of the double page spread also represents the simplistic modern approach. It uses simple questions to interview the model, and it represents it in a simple to read and understand format.
