Demographics matter because it allows the
publisher to see what type of demographic the
magazine may appeal to. An ideal demographic
would be the class that they are in, which
coincidentally will display the occupation they
have.
In this case, the demographic would be a student,
or a working class.

Stereotypically, Alternative Rock music is
associated with males, however, as a whole
Alternative is popular amongst males and
females.
Age – 16 to 26. Alternative music is mainly popular
with Students, and 16 to 24 Is the average age
for a student.

used as a tool to relax the listener.
Psychographics – Psychographic segmentation
divides the market in to groups such as class,
