How didyouattract / addressyouraudience?
Usingthe informationthatIhad gathered,Idecidedtoadjustmymagazine todirectlyappeal to
them.Since mostof the maleswhowere intoindie rockand the womenstill likedit,Ibelieve that
the decisiontogo withthe all male modelsforthe prototype wouldactuallyworkoutreallywellon
the mainmagazine.Byhavinga male on the frontcover,it may directlyattractothermalesthatare
into the indie genre.
To attract myand addressmyaudience.Idecidedtoimplementvariousfeaturesonmymagazine to
make it standout to those particularpeople.Firstly,onthe frontcover,I made itso that it wasvery
conventional,sothatstudentscoulddistinctlytell thatitwasan indie magazine.Onthe frontcover,I
decidedtomake mymodel someone of theirage,therefore itmayattract them, since theyhave
somethingtorelate andlookupto. The front coverof the magazine alsofeaturesaboldfont,and
therefore itmaydirectlystandout,notjustto my targetaudience,buttoanyone whowalkspastthe
magazine.The backgroundof the magazine isalsoblue,whichIbelieve will standoutamongstthe
usual white backgroundmagazines,suchasQ or RollingStone.Mycoverline alsoincludesBeck,who
isdesignedtobe makinga comeback,andtherefore myattract the otherside of my audience,who
isbasedin the 24 yearold category,andmay have recognisedhimif theyhave beenfollowingthe
Indie genre.Anotherthingisthatinthe bottomrightof mymagazine isArcticMonkeysstar. Arctic
monkeyshave become extremelypopular,andtherefore byaddingapicture of one of their
membersonthe frontmay attract the audience.The Arcticmonkeysstarisalsooutline withaglow,
justto make himstand outthat little bitmore.
On mycontentspage I have alsoplaceda picture of anotherartist,whoismeantto be up and
coming.Since he isrepresentedasarapper,withthe backwardsball cap, thismay particularly
appeal tosome of the youngerdemographic,being16to 18. I have alsoaddeda “Give away”,
where the readerisable towina pairof ticketstoMilkyChance.MilkyChance are extremely
popularinthe indie scene,andtherefore,people maybuythe magazine solelytoenterthe
giveaway.The contentspage isverydifferentcomparedtoothermagazines,andmaygive the
impressiontothe readersthatthismagazine hasa new style,andmayappeal to a lotof people.On
the contentspage as well,Ihave deliberatelytriedtoavoidaddingany“gossip”,because basedon
my interest,the audience are likelytohave aninterestedpurelyinthe music,donotreallycare
aboutany of the gossipinthese glamourmagazines.
I decidedtokeepmydouble page spreadextremelysimplistic,withthe picture beingonthe leftside
of the page,andtherefore allowingawhole page forthe article.Withstudents,althoughsome may
have a nice disposable bitof income tospendonthe magazine,alotof people will be buyingthe
magazine foralbumreviews,andtherefore thismeansthattheywantan honestreview forthe CD
to see if itis worthbuying.Insteadof doingastandardQ andA on the double page spread,Ialso
decidedtomerge the albumreviewin,andtell the audience how theymayparticularlylike the
album.I believe thiswill cause alotof influx of readers,since theyare able togethonestreviews,
and maystand out amongstsome of the othermagazines.Inthe double page magazine,there isalso
2 keypoints.The factthat Beck hasmovedto LA fora freshlife,thislinksdirectlybacktothe
