1. An Analysis of Harpers Bazaar Fashion Magazine
This is a three step analysis of the cover, double page spread and content page of harper’s bazaar magazine. This is
the magazine that I referred to most and will takeinspiration fromfor my own media product. I believe it targets
the same audienceof female young adults and adults that I want my magazine to target.
Cover page
Model analysis
After scrutinizingthecover it can be determined that the model’s look is distinctly prominentand eye catching.
Her attireis dark and sultry which gives off a rather mysterious aura.The makeup look that she has is minimalist
yet strikingfurther enhancing her features whileher body and facial expression gives her an air of boldness and
power. The model here does not depict the stereotypical idea of women and instead represents confidence and
high fashion.This is appealingto the audience and therefore attracts more readers.
Fonts and text
The font used in this covers gives it a very sophisticated look with the name of the magazine on the very top with
bold letters. The text is not takingup a lotof spaceand does not disclosemuch. The pink colour of the text has a
very girly vibewhich would attract females. The text expresses women power and that fashion has no age
targeting it to a wider range of audience.

2. The gray background complements the text and the model’s look.The scheme is dark and elegant makingthe
reader curious to gain the knowledge of what is inside.The dark theme gives the magazinea polished and refined
appearance.

Model analysis
The models on this page intricately illustratea very unique and original demeanour.One of them has a black
costume on whilethe others are clothed in vivid and brightly coloured garments givingthem an old school look.
The expressions of the models areupliftingand lively,perkingup the audience. These models give the content
page a feminine atmosphere which proves to be suitablefor the audience the magazine is targetting.
Font and text
The font used is simpleyet graceful with the name of the magazinewritten as caption on the top. Almost half the
page has text on it explainingwhatis insidethe magazine makingthe viewers eager to read this.The text is plain
black.There are health tips and other fashion tips alongwith gossip on renowned and well known actors and
actresses for the targeted audienceto enjoy.
Over all scheme and design
The colour theme of this is an interestingblend of white, black and red which gives it an appeasingaesthetic.It
entices the spectators and gets them burningwith curiosity.This pagehas pictures that go with the whole contrast
and gives the magazinean artistically beautiful and classic mood.
3. Double page spread
Model analysis
The model here exhibits an ambienceof professionalism.Her outfit is very slick and businesslikeyet fashionable
and feminine. Her shirtis black with pastel pants and suitjacket; this is matched with bold brightred shoes
elevating the clothes to the next level. The model has a mix of modern and old time clothingmakingaudienceof all
ages relateto itand appealingthem. Her poseis also very confident and daringempowering the female audience.
Font and text
There is no text as the audienceis usually morepleased with visuals.Itjusthas the model on itand the fact that a
picturespeaks a thousand words can be determined by this spread.
Overall scheme and design
The theme is very lightand pastel contrastingwith the model’s outfit. This gives the effect of gracefulness and
makes the magazine trendy. The theme is very eye catchingand itinterests the audienceas the colour scheme is
very different. There are no sharp or brightcolours in the background but instead softones givingita girly look
which is suitablefor young adultfemales.
