2. I chose this image for the front
cover because the expression on
my model’s face is friendly and
calm, which would indicate the
relaxing nature of indie pop
music. I followed the convention
of using direct address through
eye contact, as I think that it is
important to connect with the
audience through the cover. The
clothing and make-up connote
the indie pop genre, and the
microphone connotes the music
genre, meaning that the genre
of magazine is obvious to the
reader upon seeing the cover.

3. I chose this image for the
contents page because it would
intrigue the audience into
reading the article that the
image is anchored to because
my model isn’t giving direct
address through eye contact,
meaning that she will come
across as being quite mysterious
and make the audience want to
learn more about her. This image
also links the contents page to
the front cover, as the artist is
wearing the same outfit, creating
continuity within my magazine.

4. I chose this image for the double page spread because my model
doesn’t seem threatening and dominant, as she is sat down,
meaning that whilst the audience reads the article and learns more
about her, it will seem more personal and friendly. My model is also
giving eye contact for the same reason. The use of the notebook
and pen would link to song writing, connoting the music genre. This
image also links the double page spread to the front cover and
contents page.

5. I chose this image for the contents page because the guitar
connotes the indie music genre, which would reiterate to the
audience what the magazine is about. The two shot also means that
not all the images in my magazine are of just one person, meaning
that it appears as though the magazine represents a range of artists
within the genre.

6. I chose this image for the
contents page because it will be
easy to edit the background out,
as it is plain. I also think that the
eye contact suggests that the
magazine is directly addressing
the readers, meaning that, as
this image will be anchored to
an advice column, the audience
will feel as though the advice
given will aim to help them
personally.

meaning that, as this image will

column, the audience will feel as
