1. How did you attract/address
the audience?
By Humayra Suleman
2. Front Cover: Cover Image
The main photograph of the featuring artist is classy
and attractive. This appeals to the audience because
females may want to read the magazine because of the
good looks she has. However, males may want to read
the magazine because they may find the featured artist
sexy and might have the desire to make the artist their
partner, even though they cannot.
3. Front Cover: Masthead
The masthead is relevant to the audience because it is
vibrant and the text is bubbly giving out a fun sociable
effect towards the reader. It is appropriate for the
audience because my audience is for the more younger
side meaning that the fun and bright look really does
contrast well with the readers.
I used the bubbly effect throughout the whole of the
front cover, to give a young and fun inspirational theme
to the magazine. Making the message to be sent out
stronger, inputting the idea into the readers mind.
4. Front Cover: Cover lines
I chose limited number of cover lines to allow the reader to focus
on the important bits of what the magazine offers. I used a
personal quote to attract the reader informing them that the artist
has a personal input to the magazine article inside. I used the
quote “I’m NOT as perfect like my fans think”. This enables the
reader to become interested into the personal life of the artist, as
they tend to ask themselves “What isn’t perfect about you?”.
For the other cover lines I highlighted these by putting them into
rectangular boxes. Highlighting the cover lines to be important, but
the personal pull quote is a larger size, making the reader
acknowledge the importance of the quote much more than the
others.
5. Colour Scheme
I had used the traditional black, white and grey colours to emphasise
the normality of the star/artist being spoken about in the magazine.
This is so that this looks like a existing magazine, as a variety of bright
colours would not make the reader think it is mature enough for
them. I also did this to make sure that both genders are aware that
the magazine isn't aimed for specifically one gender. I used the teal
colour because it is genuinely good looking. It is typically worn
through clothing by both genders. I had found that teal would make
an effective impact on my magazine, as the colour has no meaning to
it, readers may relate Prominence music magazine with the specific
colour of teal. The normality of the colours relates to chart music as it
reflects the view that chart music contains preferences of all people;
whom are normal and listen to these songs on a daily basis.
6. Contents Page
The contents page consists of an urbanised male on the page which
suggests rap and hip hop genres of music both coming under chart
music. This is due to the grey hoodie making him look like a normal
teenager with the sense of street style. Once again relating back to the
pull quote on the front cover about being normal and imperfect like
everyone else. The prop used in the photograph is the over head beat
headphones by Drake. This shows he is into music and the head
phones are something most males desire to purchase as famous artist
Drake designed and brands them; attracting the male side to the
audience.
The contents page also consists of large page numbers and a large
cover line which is put by the male image to relate this to the photo.
These are done to make the reader want to read the magazine as big
lettering s much easier to read, and they are bothered to read the rest
of the magazine by looking at page numbering system.
7. Double page spread
In the front cover and double page spread the female artist
has fashionable and stylish clothing. This is to emphasise the
fact that she is a star and she can afford to look attractive
meanwhile the colours almost normalise her to be a bit like
us. Typical girly magazine readers or maybe even normal
females and not to girly, would wear this type of clothing.
Which is stylish but not too expensive; meaning it is
something a normal person can afford to wear.
The double page spread appeals to the audience because of
the interview styled article, as the questions are similar to
the question the reader may ask the celeb, but as they
cannot the readers can review the answers the artist may
reply back to the reader.
