4. Question 1
I asked this question because I
wanted to know which colours
most appealed to my target
audience, so that my magazine
would look attractive to them.
Most people liked blues and
purples, which tells me that
people relate indie pop to cool
and relaxing colours. A few people
liked greens a neutral colours, but
no one chose reds and oranges,
telling me that my target audience
doesn’t relate indie pop to bright
and warm colours. As the majority
chose blues and purples, I will use
this as my colour scheme.
5. Question 2
I asked this question because I
wanted to know what type of
artists my target audience would
prefer to read about, so that the
artists I include in my magazine
are of interest to the readers. I
found that people would like to
read about both bands and solo
artists, but solo artists gained
more votes than bands. To
respond to these results I am
going to include more solo artists
in my magazine, with a few bands
as well.
6. Question 3
I asked this question because I
wanted to know the type of
articles I should include in my
magazine. The most popular was
upcoming artist interviews,
meaning that I am going to make
my double page spread an
interview with a new artist. More
people liked the idea of album
reviews than festival and concert
articles, which would tell me that
my target audience would prefer
to read about music that artists
create over music events and
experiences.
7. Question 4
I asked this question because I
wanted to know what style of
interview my target audience
prefers, so that they are able to
understand and enjoy them more.
My target audience all said that
they prefer question and answer
styled interviews, showing that
they prefer them to appear more
interactive and less formal. For my
upcoming artist interview on my
double page spread I will use the
question and answer format.
8. Question 5
I asked this question because I
wanted to know how much writing
my target audience would like to
see within articles. As more people
voted to have more images than
text, the double page spread will
have an image as the main focus,
perhaps covering one of the two
pages, and I will break the text up
into columns so it doesn’t
overwhelm the reader.
9. Question 6
I asked this question because I
wanted to know the amount of
content my magazine would need
to contain. If my magazine were to
come out weekly, then it wouldn’t
need as much content as it would
if it only came out seasonally, as
readers would be updated often,
as opposed to only four times a
year. Half of my target audience
voted for the magazine to come
out monthly, meaning that my
magazine won’t need a lot of
content, but perhaps 40-60 pages,
which is conventional amongst
most music magazines that have
new issues monthly.
10. Question 7
I asked this question because I
wanted to know whether my
target audience would like posters
of artists to be included within the
magazine. Most people answered
with ‘yes’, showing how perhaps
music artists can influence and be
inspirational towards teenagers, as
posters are usually put up on walls
and represent peoples interests
and idols. These results mean that
I am going to include posters in
my magazine.
11. Question 8
I asked this question because I
wanted to know if my target
audience were interested in
competitions. Almost all said that
they would like competitions to be
included within the magazine.
These results tell me that my
target audience like to be
interacted with, meaning that I will
advertise competitions within my
magazine.
12. Question 9
I asked this question because I
wanted to know, if there were to
be competitions, what would my
target audience most like to win.
Half of my target audience voted
for concert tickets and 30% voted
for a meet and greet with artists,
showing how my audience is
invested into music and the artists
that produce it. These results
mean that I will make concert
tickets and meet and greets the
prizes for the competitions.
13. Question 10
I asked this question because I
wanted to know whether my
target audience wishes to get their
own music recognised. All of my
target audience voted ‘yes’,
meaning that I will put a reader
feature section in my magazine.
This tells me that my target
audience thinks that I is important
that a magazine interacts with the
audience and gives them
opportunities to showcase their
talents.
