Demographics
Gender
The gender that
my magazine was
aimed at was
females.
Age
For my magazine I
targeted people that
were aged around
12-21 so this was
like the young
teenager age range.
Social class
For my magazine I aimed it at people known
as YAKS (young adventures Keen and
Single). These are people that are lower
class who live at home and are unemployed.
The genre of my magazine attracted my audience
because typically pop magazines are targeted at this
type of audience because of the…
Language- the
language is
informal and may
use slag words
that only the
younger
generation would
understand
Colours- bright
colours and
typical girly
colours such as
pink and purples
are often used in
pop magazines
The images- the type
of models that are
used in the
magazines are
usually well-known
artists from the pop
genre that my target
audience would look
up to.
The content- the
stories in the
magazine are
usually gossip
stories that the
younger female
audience are
typically interested
in.
When taking my images I took into consideration the model I used, the shot types, the camera angle, the costume props I used and edits so that it
would suit the pop genre and attract my target audience.
For the model I looked at other pop magazines and saw that throughout the magazine they use typical slim, pretty, young women that are popular
with in the music industry. So for my magazine I decided to use Phoebe as I feel she suited this stereotype of artist which would attract the target
audience.
For the shot types I thought about how the audience would want to perceive the model. As my target audience is quite young girls I think they
want to look up to the model and aspire to be like them but they also want to seem like they are like them already and that they can relate to them
and seem like they are similar and separate from them. So this means the shot type I used was a medium shot. I decided to use this because it
means that they have eye line with the audience and aren’t looking down on them. It is a more intimate shot which is good for my target audience
as they want to be able to relate to the model and feel as close to them as they possibly can.
For the costume that I decided to dress my models in I thought about what is in fashion at the minute and what young girls what to see. As they
want to be inspired by the model it means that the model has to be presented well and dressed like they would if they went out. So thinking about
think I decided that my model should wear a more casual but still dressy outfit and then also wear a really dressy outfit as well to show two
different types of outfits. So for the more casual one I dressed her in jeans and a crop top. This is very in fashion now a days and a lot of young
girls would wear this. Then for the other outfit I decided she should wear a white playsuit as this is the sort of thing you would wear if you were
going out to a party and this is what my target audience would be doing at their age so this would inspire them and show them that the artist is
similar to them.
For the props I decided to have a microphone. This was to show the audience that it is a music artist on the front cover which will instantly attract
them as it could also suggest a pop concert feel to it and my target audience would be interested in going to a music concert to see their favorite
artists.
For editing the photo I took into consideration what my target audience would expect to see on the image. Typically on the front cover of a girl
teenage pop magazine there is a female music artist who is flawless and has no imperfections. So this is what I tried to create with my images. I
erased all the imperfections the model had on her face to create a flawless effect and then I also enhanced the blue eyes to make them bluer and
My Images
Model
My model conformed the stereotype of the pop
music genre because she was pretty, had long
brown hair, very glamorous, slim and suited the
clothing appropriate for the genre. Typically in
pop magazines the models used are all these
things above to create the idea of being ‘perfect’.
The young girls look up to these ‘perfect’ models
and aspire to be like them. They want to be all
those things mentioned above because they feel
like if they aren’t then they don’t fit in. so the
model in the magazine sets the boundary and
shows the young girls how they want to look. I
feel like my model did this very well and suited
the pop genre completely.
Content
When creating the content for my magazine I wanted to concentrate on things that my target audience
would want to see. For this I looked into other pop magazines with the same target audiences and saw
what content they used. In the magazines they mostly talked about gossip, fashion, interviews with artists
and chart reviews. So I took this into consideration when creating my content.
The pug
I wanted this to be short and to
the point and somewhere very
obvious on the front cover as this
is very important in this genre of
magazine and for my target
audience. As my target audience
are young they mostly likely don’t
have jobs and if they do they
wont be getting very much so
this pug is important to them as it
gives them a chance to win
something they maybe could not
afford to get. So when creating
mine I decided to make it a big
prize to make the audience
interested and want to join the
Cover lines
because my audience are
younger readers they want to
put drawn in quickly and they
don’t want to have to read a lot.
So thinking about this I made
my cover lines short and snappy
so that the readers would be
intrigued straight away. I wanted
to create a sentence or a few
words that told the reader
exactly what the story was.
Double page spread
For this I decided to create a
interview with a new up and
coming artist. I thought that this
was a good idea that my target
audience could be interested as I
have seen it in other popular pop
magazines. I made the interview
very serious and factual while
making it quite informal and
personal at the same time so that
you can have that balance.
Because the audience want to
know about the sort of stuff about
the music industry ect. But they
also want to hear gossip and get to
know the artist in a more personal
Marketing campaigns
As my target audience is aimed at the younger audience
which typically the younger generation are online a lot more
and their lives revolve around social media platforms. So
thinking about this I think that to promote my magazine I
want to use the internet so that the audience enjoy it and
want to get more involved so this will be things like using
YouTube to have a channel or having adverts on other
popular YouTube channels or creating an app. These things
are really accessible for my target audience as they can just
get these on their phones on the go where ever they are. It’s
the most convenient place for them to have it to because
typically the younger generation are associated with their
phones and similar technologies.

Evaluation media question 1

  • 2. Demographics Gender The gender that my magazine was aimed at was females. Age For my magazine I targeted people that were aged around 12-21 so this was like the young teenager age range. Social class For my magazine I aimed it at people known as YAKS (young adventures Keen and Single). These are people that are lower class who live at home and are unemployed.
  • 3. The genre of my magazine attracted my audience because typically pop magazines are targeted at this type of audience because of the… Language- the language is informal and may use slag words that only the younger generation would understand Colours- bright colours and typical girly colours such as pink and purples are often used in pop magazines The images- the type of models that are used in the magazines are usually well-known artists from the pop genre that my target audience would look up to. The content- the stories in the magazine are usually gossip stories that the younger female audience are typically interested in.
  • 4. When taking my images I took into consideration the model I used, the shot types, the camera angle, the costume props I used and edits so that it would suit the pop genre and attract my target audience. For the model I looked at other pop magazines and saw that throughout the magazine they use typical slim, pretty, young women that are popular with in the music industry. So for my magazine I decided to use Phoebe as I feel she suited this stereotype of artist which would attract the target audience. For the shot types I thought about how the audience would want to perceive the model. As my target audience is quite young girls I think they want to look up to the model and aspire to be like them but they also want to seem like they are like them already and that they can relate to them and seem like they are similar and separate from them. For the costume that I decided to dress my models in I thought about what is in fashion at the minute and what young girls what to see. As they want to be inspired by the model it means that the model has to be presented well and dressed like they would if they went out. So thinking about think I decided that my model should wear a more casual but still dressy outfit and then also wear a really dressy outfit as well to show two different types of outfits. So for the more casual one I dressed her in jeans and a crop top. This is very in fashion now a days and a lot of young girls would wear this. Then for the other outfit I decided she should wear a white playsuit as this is the sort of thing you would wear if you were going out to a party and this is what my target audience would be doing at their age so this would inspire them and show them that the artist is similar to them. For the props I decided to have a microphone. This was to show the audience that it is a music artist on the front cover which will instantly attract them as it could also suggest a pop concert feel to it and my target audience would be interested in going to a music concert to see their favorite artists. For editing the photo I took into consideration what my target audience would expect to see on the image. Typically on the front cover of a girl teenage pop magazine there is a female music artist who is flawless and has no imperfections. So this is what I tried to create with my images. I erased all the imperfections the model had on her face to create a flawless effect and then I also enhanced the blue eyes to make them bluer and My Images
  • 5. Model My model conformed the stereotype of the pop music genre because she was pretty, had long brown hair, very glamorous, slim and suited the clothing appropriate for the genre. Typically in pop magazines the models used are all these things above to create the idea of being ‘perfect’. The young girls look up to these ‘perfect’ models and aspire to be like them. They want to be all those things mentioned above because they feel like if they aren’t then they don’t fit in. so the model in the magazine sets the boundary and shows the young girls how they want to look. I feel like my model did this very well and suited the pop genre completely.
  • 6. Content When creating the content for my magazine I wanted to concentrate on things that my target audience would want to see. For this I looked into other pop magazines with the same target audiences and saw what content they used. In the magazines they mostly talked about gossip, fashion, interviews with artists and chart reviews. So I took this into consideration when creating my content. The pug I wanted this to be short and to the point and somewhere very obvious on the front cover as this is very important in this genre of magazine and for my target audience. As my target audience are young they mostly likely don’t have jobs and if they do they wont be getting very much so this pug is important to them as it gives them a chance to win something they maybe could not afford to get. So when creating mine I decided to make it a big prize to make the audience interested and want to join the Cover lines because my audience are younger readers they want to put drawn in quickly and they don’t want to have to read a lot. So thinking about this I made my cover lines short and snappy so that the readers would be intrigued straight away. I wanted to create a sentence or a few words that told the reader exactly what the story was. Double page spread For this I decided to create a interview with a new up and coming artist. I thought that this was a good idea that my target audience could be interested as I have seen it in other popular pop magazines. I made the interview very serious and factual while making it quite informal and personal at the same time so that you can have that balance. • 7. Marketing campaigns As my target audience is aimed at the younger audience which typically the younger generation are online a lot more and their lives revolve around social media platforms. So thinking about this I think that to promote my magazine I want to use the internet so that the audience enjoy it and want to get more involved so this will be things like using YouTube to have a channel or having adverts on other popular YouTube channels or creating an app. These things are really accessible for my target audience as they can just get these on their phones on the go where ever they are. It’s the most convenient place for them to have it to because typically the younger generation are associated with their phones and similar technologies.
