2. Front Cover
Images;
Fonts;
Colours;
The use of the red, yellow, black, grey and
white are conventional colours for the
indie/rock genre so they appeal to the
target audience. During my research I
found out that these were the most
appealing colours. The use of the red,
black and grey signifies violence and
danger which can be stereotyped towards
people related to indie/rock genre. This
means it appeals to the target audience.
I have used various different types
of san-serif fonts which appeals to
the target audience as it’s a more
masculine font and appeals to the
more younger masculine target
audience. I found this out through
my research. They are also large
and stand out on the page and are
easy to see. The more important
text on the page is in capital
letters which is conventional as it
stands out . Overall I believe my
fonts are conventional of the
indie/rock genre as they are sanserif which appeals to the target
audience. The use of the bold and
bright colours attracts the reader
to the magazine.
I have used two images on my front
cover which both appeal to the
target audience due to the mise-enscene, body language and shot types
used. The main image is conventional
as I have used a close up so you can
see the artists face and what he is
wearing. The use of the costume is
conventional as they are dark
colours. His facial expression and
body language appeals to the target
audience as he looks very angry and
violent which appeals to the target
audience. The smaller image is
conventional as the use of the guitar
is conventional. His costume is dark
and the use of the mid shot allows
you to see all this. The low key
lighting in the images is appealing
because it makes the artist stand out
more and look important.
Mode of Address;
The mode of address used on my front cover is aggressive, but also puts
across the feeling of passion. The images and colours put across the
feeling of aggression. The images also shows the feeling off passion due to
there facial expressions and body language. This is appealing to the target
audience.
3. Contents Page
Images;
Fonts;
Colours;
The use of the red, white and black are a
selection off colours that I used on the
front cover. I used these colours to create
a consistent house style for my magazine.
This is appealing as it keeps it
recognizable. The use of the black makes
the text stand out on the white
background therefore making it easier to
read. The use of these colours keep the
feeling of indie/rock because of the
violent and aggressive aspects.
I used the same sort of fonts on
the contents as I did on the
front cover to keep a consistent
house style like I did with the
colours. The use of the san-serif
fonts appeal to the target
audience as they are more
masculine fonts and appeal to
the younger masculine target
audience. The fonts are large
and bold which is conventional
and appeals to the target
audience, this allows the to
read the text and attract the
reader.
I have used two images on my contents
page which both appeal to the target
audience due to the mise-enscene, body language and shot types
used. The main image is conventional
as I have used a long shot to fit both
artists in the image and to see what
they are wearing and any props. The
use of the instruments is appealing and
there costumes are dark which appeals
to the target audience. The use of the
grey background makes the image
stand out which is appealing. There
body expression connotes passion
which is a conventional mode of
address for the magazine. The low key
lighting makes the image stand out
more and shows them to be powerful.
The smaller image is appealing due the
close up shows the reader who the
artist is.
Mode of Address;
The mode of address used on my contents page is aggressive, but also puts
across the feeling of passion. The images connotes passion because of the
body language and facial expression while the colours connotes violence
and anger.
4. Double Page Spread
Colours;
I have used the same colours on the
double page spread as I have during the
whole magazine as it keeps a consistent
house style which is appealing. The
colours are masculine colours which
appeals to the male target audience.
The use of the black and white in the
photo gives a vintage feeling which isn’t
normally appealing but in this image I
believe it is appealing due to the high
quality image.
Fonts;
Images;
I have once again stuck with
the same style of fonts
because it keeps a
consistent house style
which appeals the target
audience. The fonts are
bold and stand out which
makes it easy read which is
appealing. The body text is
all the same which is
appealing and the headline
and pull quotes are the
same font which is
appealing. The stand first is
a different font which is
appealing as it stands out
and is important as it gives
an insight into the article.
This is appealing to the
target audience.
I have only used one main image
for the double page spread which
covers whole page. This is
appealing as the reader will
recognize who the the artist is and
that its about him. The use of the
mid shot allows you to see the
body language and costume he is
wearing. The body language is laid
back and shows that he only cares
about himself. This is appealing
the target audience. The clothes
are dark which appeals the target
audience. The use of the black and
white image makes it look more
vintage and the artist looks more
stylish and high class. The use of
the high key lighting makes him
stand out and makes him look
power. The image is taken in front
of a plain background as it keeps
all the attention on the artist
which is appealing.
Mode of Address;
The mode of address used on my double page spread is aggressive, stylish but also
puts across the feeling of passion. The images connotes passion because of the body
language and facial expression while the colours connotes violence and anger. The
image also connotes style due to the black and white image.
