2. What is kinesiology?
Kinesiology is the scientific study of human or
non-human body movement.
Kinesiology addresses physiological,
biomechanical, and psychological mechanisms of
movement.

3. Meaning of kinesiology
The word kinesiology is derived from the Greek
term “kinesis” meaning “motion” and “logos”
meaning “word of knowledge” or “to
discourse” or “to study”. Kinesiology originally
defined as “the study of motion”.

4. Kinesiology today is related to four
well known fields of knowledge
Anatomy
Physiology
Physics and
Mathematics
Kinesiology is based specifically on
biomechanics, musculoskeletal anatomy, and
neuromuscular physiology.

6. ANATOMICAL KINESIOLOGY
Anatomical kinesiology is the study of human
anatomy in relation to health and wellness.
This field of study simply relates physical
movement and exercise to health outcomes

7. STRUCTURAL KINESIOLOGY
Structural kinesiology is the study of muscles as
they are involved in science of movement.
In structural kinesiology both skeletal and
muscular structures are involved.
It explains about the different sizes and shapes of
bones, particularly at the joint, which allows or
limits movement.

8. APPLIED KINESIOLOGY
Applied kinesiology is the clinical application of the
study of movement and function.
This type of kinesiology utilizes manual muscle
testing as measures of the central integrative state of
the nervous system.
Applied kinesiology focuses on restoring proper
functioning to the inhibited muscles.
