Internet Neutrality
Who owns the internet? The common opinion is that the web is a free and equal source for all its
users, belonging to no one and everyone at the same time, however the increasing monopolization of
content producers and methods of access has become a major cause for concern. As a unified, single
entity, the Internet does not belong to any single person or organization, but the quality and levels of
access available are dependent on thousands of corporate groups and impact every internet user. While
once seen as an equalizing field, discussions of web fast lanes, private platforms, and pay for play
access have turned the once obviously neutral Internet into a highly contested structure. Net neutrality
is a step forward towards ensuring a future ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The preferential leveraging of certain websites by telos and ISPs inherently implies reduced access to
others, Panda explains, ...this could lead to blocking others, either fully or, with choked access... ISPs
are the gateway through which all access must pass. Millions of web pages, platforms, app, services,
with any and all types of information and resources available. There are small, niche sites (Reddit
forums on Twilight Zone special features) to large, global content (the DOW summary) available at all
hours of the day, and while the educational value of each of these would undoubtedly vary from
person to person, access to both of these does not. Comparatively, in a world without net neutrality
equalized education is constantly at risk depending on their whims of the ISP. Attempting to access
event coverage on FOX news could be slowed or blocked completely if Comcast is your internet
service provider. This not only leads to biased or even misinformation, but further monetizes the very
nature of education. Paid prioritization, where those with the most financial resources can speed up
access to their content, would hurt public and non profit content providers, such as libraries, that
cannot afford a fast lane for research and archival collections (Long). Additionally, because content
providers that pay more for fast lanes could pass extra charges on to consumers for access to
organizations that have not paid for such lanes, leading libraries and schools to end up paying more
for commercial content while still losing their consumer base. ISPs are businesses at their core and
thus have financial incentives to favor their own content over others, but once customers pay for their
internet access, they should have the rights to choose the content they access. When someone
purchases a car, they determine the route and

Moon Landing Conspiracy Research Paper
Moon Landing Conspiracy Theories
Many people think that the moon landing was faked. Lots of people think it was just done in some
studio in Hollywood. But why do people think its fake? People think it is faked because of some of the
pictures the astronauts took up on the moon.
Many human beings think the moon landing was faked because of the pictures. In the background
there are no stars in any of the pictures. Even some pictures there is a crater in the back that looks
exactly the same but the stuff is just moved. Some pictures in the middle you can even see a line
which looks like the bottom of a backdrop.
There are even more pictures that looked faked like under the ship there was no landing crater. And it
looks like there are studio light glares in some pictures. witnesses also say that the spaceship that they
launched didn t even go to space, people say it only had fuel to reach the ocean somewhere, where
there was a boat waiting to get them once they landed in the ocean. ... Show more content on

But even with the flag with the wire in it the bottom of the flag was still waving. And with the landing
crater if there was a crater from the landing dust would still be around the area in the pictures. Plus
there are also conspiracy theories that the reason we didn t go the moon is because aliens could be a
possibility because when russia went to the moon there were theories that the original people never
came back and they just had people that made it look like that came back when they really didn t.
Problems with some of the rovers sent to the moon had unknown problems and they don t know why.
It was system failure or anything like that they were

The principle of historical cost is still used in...
Synopsis.
Historical Cost Accounting is a traditional valuation method as it reflects only on the past cost of the
asset, however in the contemporary business environment companies must remain flexible and
transparent. This belief has lead to the creation of several other valuation methods, due to word
constraints I have focused primarily on Fair Value Accounting as an alternative to Historical Cost
Accounting. Although Fair value accounting is a theoretically superior valuation methodology, there
are several severe problems in its current application, due to lax regulations and ineffective methods of
determining current values of non current assets. These problems within Fair Value Accounting have
ensured that most companies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Appropriate valuation of assets without verifiable data can be difficult and subjective. This is
especially the case when there is no market for the asset and valuation must be wholly speculative,
often leading to unintentional over valuations of assets.
Furthermore, management using Fair Value Accounting may intentionally over value assets to
improve the financial position of the company, as asset appreciation is recorded as revenue. Watts
(2003, 2) points out that Enron s ability to manipulate fair values and WorldCom s capitalisation of
unverifiable unused capacity, were factors in those particular accounting scandals.
Comparison between Historical Cost Accounting and Fair Value Accounting.
Quite clearly historical cost accounting has several limitations and flaws that can have notable
influences on businesses and are often criticised. Still historical costs are the standard form of
accounting due to its unique features and conventions that make it better than all currently available
alternatives.
If markets were liquid and transparent for all assets and liabilities, fair value accounting clearly would
be reliable information useful in the decision making process. However, because many assets and
liabilities do not have an active market, the inputs and methods for estimating their fair value are more
subjective and, therefore, the valuations less reliable. Management bias, whether intentional or
unintentional,

Research Paper On John Grisham
The anatomy and physiology of the human body is extremely complex in many different aspects.
Scientifically, the human body is organized from simple to complex. The organization sequence
begins with diminutive cells and finishes with multiplex organ systems. All people are typically
organized in the same fashion. However, psychologically all people do not process information the
same way. People have a myriad of motives for the actions they take in life. For instance, a person
may be motivated or inspired by a situation he or she has been in, and they decide to act upon his or
her beliefs. John Grisham, a well known novelist, was inspired to become a writer by past
circumstances he has experienced, the knowledge he obtained by being a lawyer, through the
stimulating people he has met throughout his life thus far, and to prove that people can experience a
little adventure while reading. Axiomatically, to completely understand how an author writes his or
her books people need to know the author s background. John Ray Grisham, Jr., was born on February
8th, 1955 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. John s father was a construction worker, and his family moved to
different states frequently (June Harris). After spending most of his childhood in Arkansas and
Louisiana, the Grisham family found a permanent home in Southaven, Mississippi. After graduating
high school and finishing his undergraduate studies at two different colleges, John Grisham attended

Analysis Of Scott Momaday s Journey To Rainy Mountain
Introduction
People come from different backgrounds and ancestral foundations. They are at times defined by these
beginnings, and some may end up wanting to know more. Most do not find their ancestral grounding
in their childhood but come to realize it later in life. Many have the advantage of being someone and
identifying with their culture as a basis of their personality. Maintaining proper and adequate
understanding is determined by what one handles and does on a personal, cultural and familial level.
Scott Momaday is a reflection of a person who has been born and lives within the culture. His book,
Journey to Rainy Mountain, is a collection of poems, memoirs and myths on the Kiowa culture.

Part 1 Al Momaday
Looking at the father s memoir and experiences, there is a lot to be discussed because he is a sign of
historical accuracy. He gives an account of how things were in terms of family, leadership and his
existence as a Kiowa man. It gives experiences on how his life was formed around the people of
Kiowa and his obligations to the tribe, nature and family (Momaday 20). His role as a Kiowa man
brings forth his understanding and shows a lot of offerings and activities that happened along ancestral
grounds. It demonstrates the kind of attitude and impression that Momaday had towards his father and
what he regarded him to be in terms of being the head of the family (Momaday 26). It presents the
responsibility that the father took up and other men had within the tribe. The mythical part is mostly
within the experiences and explanations of the father who sets the tone of showing the Kiowa life in a
balanced yet mystical way.
Part 2 Historical Information
The historical information regarding the Kiowa people reflects on the mythological and culture of the
Kiowa people. It sets the tone of identifying the strengths of the tribe, practices and ideas that
developed within the tribe. It also shows a relation of the Kiowa people to nature, other mythical
creatures and how the culture came into existence. It also shows what made the culture of so much
importance to those who practiced it and in what context they felt that they were able to

The brain is divided into two separate bisections, the left and right hemisphere, children need both
sides of the brain innervated in order to learn properly. The left hemisphere is responsible for
perceiving information more logically and analytically, it is the side that processes things math,
science, and writing. Whilst the right hemisphere of the brain is responsible for more imaginative
creative thinking, the importance of developing both segments of the brain is not something that
should be overlooked. With the aid of the arts, children see there are an infinite set of different
perspective, each complexity is in the eye of the beholder, this shapes how kids view and react to
problems. Every child is different, and art can be compromised to each child s individual personality

ABSTRACT Presented within is a synopsis of the conceptual design, analysis and testing of a
camless engine (CLE) with an electro hydraulic valve train. The system makes use of a piezoelectric
controlled hydraulic actuator. This actuator serves as a replacement for the camshaft in an internal
combustion engine (ICE). In essence, the actuator is an electro hydraulic device capable ... Show more

The concept of variable valve timing has existed for some time. Unfortunately, the ability to achieve
truly variable valve timing has eluded automotive manufacturers. Most variable timing mechanisms
were created as tools for the automotive engineer. Their use was limited to the laboratory as a means
of testing multiple, virtual cam profiles. These early camless engines allowed for the designers to
choose the best cams for the engine under scrutiny, but were less than energy efficient. Furthermore,
they were laboratory machines and were not capable of being mass produced or utilized in an
automobile. There have been a few attempts at developing production models of camless engines,
most notably by Ford, but the use of solenoids has impeded their implementation. Using solenoids to
control hydraulic fluid and ultimately the opening and closing of the engine valves introduces its own
limitations. The solenoids consume considerable energy and are a binary control device they are either
on or off. Therefore the hydraulic fluid, controlled
LIMITATIONS OF THE CAM: NEED FOR VARIABLE VALVE TIMING
Automobile manufacturers have recognized the compromises associated with
by the solenoids, is either flowing or blocked. This design allows for some variance of valve timing,
but is still limited by the response capabilities of the solenoids. Furthermore, it cannot directly address
valve velocity or displacement changes.

Theme Of The Interlopers
Why do we engage in war? Is there ever a significant outcome?Just like the Korean War, the story
Interlopers by Saki, share similar themes and outcomes. In the Interlopers, the author Saki conveys a
theme of don t waste your life on engaging in hatred cause death will follow, using the literary
techniques of situational irony, imagery, and foreshadowing.
Saki has displayed a theme of wasting your life on engaging in hatred because death will follow, by
using the technique of irony. This theme comes into notice when the forresters walk out into the open
to explore. Ulrich and Georg, the forresters, meet eyes in the middle of the open forest. Then, lighting
struck and branches from the trees fall down onto Georg and Ulrich. The hatred turned from each
other onto nature. Hoping that the other is dead, Ulrich shouts I m caught in my own forest land , and
then their was a moment of silence (Saki 8). Georg was silent because he knew that this situation he
got in, is very ironic. They re on their own land but yet trapped and nearing death all because of this
long lasting family feud. Since death is nearing, Georg starts to get into panic mode. He shouts at
Ulrich and says, Death and damnation to you, Ulrich Von Gradwitz , as they were trapped under the
heavy tree branches (Saki 8). Georg didn t mean that in a bad way. He just wanted to make sure that
Ulrich knew that if they did died under those branches, that it would be all his fault for making this a

Wasteland Motherhood
Motherhood is an extremely complicated process that every mother goes through when taking on the
choice to acquire a child. Based on the individual, this process can be one that is natural or extremely
difficult to execute. Within this process, there are new issues and mindsets that emerge in the threshold
of motherhood that creates intense struggles. In the texts Waste Land (Walker, 2010) by Lucy Walker
and Morning Song by Sylvia Plath the poet and director display these issues and mindsets within these
two different mediums that arise in the never ending process. These texts connect to one another by
demonstrating and including struggles of urges to provide, emotions of detachment, and improving
mindsets through the process of motherhood. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the article, Plaths Morning Song David Ketterer makes the statement about how Morning Song
expresses Plath s conflicted feelings at the birth of her first child... (242 243). These feelings are
implied adamantly throughout the poem and start off as feelings of detachment. The speaker of
Morning Song exclaims We stand around blankly as walls when describing her mental composure to
the audience. At this point the reader understands that the concept of motherhood is wildly new to the
speaker and she has no idea what to do or how to connect herself to the child. The speaker also depicts
the child as a new statue (line 4). This comparison is one that shows the audience that the mother sees
the child as something mystifying and not human. Consequently, if she cannot view the child as an
opposite of these characteristics, then she will fail to recognize her duties as a mother. And if she fails
to recognize this, she will also fail to create a stable connection and positive feeling towards her new
born child. However, these feelings of detachment later cease to exist towards the final two stanzas of
the poem, unlike the intense feelings displayed in Waste

The Negative Impacts Of Social Media, Technology And Privacy
Social media and technology play major roles today. For example, we use technology and social
media to connect with one another and attain knowledge. While these advancements have helped
improve our quality of life, there are a multitude of negative aspects that come alongside today s
technology. There are countless of victims who have had to go through issues dealing with privacy

personal information and the manipulation of firsthand assets. We are connected to numerous websites
and applications that have our personal information on their records. These applications are not always

I have a few theories as to why I am so unnaturally excited to go back to school. Theory One: After
attending Sally Nofke s 15th birthday party with my annoyingly quick witted friend Orazio Zorzotto, I

My Dragon In Beowulf
As humans, we all possess great qualities. We develop memories that we can cherish forever. Hopes
and dreams help us strive to do great things. However, we all have our demons that we all tend to
conceal. The famous poem Beowulf is renowned for the battles against Beowulf and many monsters.
The battles in the poem pose as metaphorical battles. Beowulf defeating the monsters represent him
trying to overcome his demons. The last battle was between him and a dragon. To the reader s
surprise, he lost the battle. The dragon represents Beowulf s greatest demon. Despite the dragons that
Beowulf faced that are external, my dragons are more internal. One of the most hellish dragons that I
possess is my anxiety. My anxiety has got the best of me most of the time when I was younger. It
would be difficult for me to go out with other people. I often found myself isolating myself from the
rest of the world. In the poem, Beowulf , Grendel often hides in his dwelling. A powerful monster,
living down in the darkness, growled in pain, impatient as day after day (ln 80). Having excessive
anxiety has developed into my second dragon which is appearence. My appearance is the most
staggering dragon that I have is because it is a dragon I know I can never defeat. This dragon was

The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Essay
Methods One major method that will be used will be the statistics taken from the Behavioral Risk
Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) provided by the NC department of health. Also, data will be
used for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Trust for America s Health study, done for the
year 2015. Both of these will give pertinent data on what factors may increase obesity over the target
population. While the method of this surveillance may use the BRFSS, there can be many more other
methods that can be used. In evaluating a financial project, majority of the times the methods used
during the evaluations will be quantitative, in order to prove financial gain (Makarova Sokolva, 2014).
The same quantitative method can also be used in two different ways within this project. The first
method used for quantitative reporting, would be as the same as Makarova Sokolva mentioned, which
would be using it as a financial indicator of the overall success of the project (Makarova Sokolva,
2014). As stated earlier, obese individuals spend about 1,429 dollars more on health care than a
normal individual (Finkelstein, Trodgdon, Cohen Dietz, 2009). If an analyst wanted to take this
quantitative method, they would use the amount of money saved per year, over the course of an
individual s life, as a way to show that the evaluation of a plan was successful. To further this, if the
surveillance saw one person stay below obese for 25 years, this would yield a total savings of around

In contrived observation, the respondents behaviour is observed in an artificial environment, for
example, a food tasting session.
Personal
In personal observation, a researcher observes actual behaviour as it occurs. The observer may or may
not normally attempt to control or manipulate the phenomenon being observed. The observer merely
records what takes place.
Mechanical
Mechanical devices (video, closed circuit television) record what is being observed. These devices
may or may not require the respondent s direct participation. They are used for continuously recording
on going behaviour.
Non participant
The observer does not normally question or communicate with the people being observed. He or she
does not participate.
Participant
In participant observation, the researcher becomes, or is, part of the group that is being investigated.
Participant observation has its roots in ethnographic studies (study of man and races) where
researchers would live in tribal villages, attempting to understand the customs and practices of that
culture. It has a very extensive literature, particularly in sociology (development, nature and laws of
human society) and anthropology (physiological and psychological study of man). Organizations can
be viewed as tribes with their own customs and practices.
Advantages
1)Helps capture the behavior of customers directly.
Disadvantages;
1)Time consuming and costly exercise.
2) Personal biasness of investigators will distort the findings.

The Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Reading
I. Introduction
A. Background information
General Background: For a long time, it is known that reading is an inseparable part of daily living for
an educated person.
Specific Background: There are a large amount of articles that discusses the advantages and
disadvantages of reading. Some authors discuss the negative sides of reading and literateness while
others wrote the article which is about the positive sides. One of those types of articles is Why our
future depends on libraries, reading and daydreaming by Neil Gaiman who is an outstanding English
author of fictions, novels, comic books, and so on.
B. Thesis Statement Although there is a weaknesses in the article such that importance of libraries,

People may access the libraries data, and easily find the information which is appropriate for their
interests. It will also help them to save their time.
Main idea/aspect # 2: Gaiman presents a strong argument about daydreaming that it does not not
matter, you are reader or writer, children or adult, everyone should daydream.
A. Supporting idea #1: We have an obligation to imagine . It refers his claim smoothly.
1. When people imagine, they can change everything over and over, from smaller to bigger by
daydreaming.
B. Supporting idea #2: People can make things different in order to improve themselves.
1. Individuals make the future, and they do it by imagining that things can be different . People may
sit somewhere, and imagine something which is does not exist in there. With this way, they can dream
about their future.
Main idea/aspect # 3: Another powerful argument of Gaiman s article is that importance of reading
fictions.
A. Supporting idea #1: People improve their empathy by reading functions.
1. While reading a book, people create a person and a place in their mind. It helps to use our creativity
and imagination.
2. The world does not have to be like this. Things can be different . It helps people to go somewhere

Electricity, Heating Water Electricity, heating and water consumption can be substantial costs in a

They found that women are worst at this, but are also better at selling the clothes again. One of the
causes are impulse buys, therefore, a remedy would be avoid sales, window shopping, outlet visits or
browsing the internet shops for ideas, when not having anything better to do. Instead, prepare a
shopping list in advance and stick to it, e.g. only buy the new trousers you actually need. Another way
to reduce impulse buys is; leave the debit cards at home when you are shopping and bring cash
instead, which may be harder to spend; the cost becomes real. In addition, it is also easier to limit the
amount you put in your pocket in advance. Some claim that it is possible to dress nicely for everyday
and parties for little money. The easy solution would be buying clothes and shoes in the supermarket,
but you can actually buy fashion and branded clothing at decent prices on the internet. There are
several advantages using the internet; a large selection, buy with a few clicks when you have the time

can often find attractive offers. If you have fallen in love with a jacket from a known brand, you

Methods Of Detecting Clandestine Malware Using Behavior...

In learning about Surreptitious code, specifically malware code I wanted to learn more about how to
detect hidden, secret, or misleading malware on a system and how to remove or even prevent it. The
article of choice was Causality reasoning about network events for detecting stealthy malware
activities by Hao Zhang, Danfend Yao, Naren Ramakrishnan and Zhibin Zhang. The article was
published in the Computers Security Journal, Issue 58 in 2016, pages 180 to 198.
Objectives The authors of this article stated the purpose of the article was to describe methods of

et al., 2016, p. 180). Malware creators get paid if their software is installed and runs so newer malware
has to over come, evade, and fool the anti malware software that it might come up against. Thus more
and more of the modern malware is being created to be installed surreptitiously, and then run
clandestine. The authors attribute the malware being harder to detect because modern security
solutions rely on the ability to recognize known code and signatures.
This article was the summary of research conducted in order to introduce a network request level
causal analysis for malware detection (Zhang, H. et al., 2016, p. 181). The major premise of the article
was that they propose the use of algorithms to search and monitor triggering events. Triggering events
that were not caused by a user action were referred to as vagabond requests (Zhang, H. et al., 2016, p.
183). Events that were occurring without legitimate cause by a user interaction, requests or initiation
were viewed suspiciously as possible malware activities (Zhang, H. et al., 2016, p. 183). Examples
given were DNS requests given without the user requesting it, or information being sent to a site
without authorized initiation.
The next step was to formulate the problem of triggering relation discovery (TRD) in network requests
(Zhang, H. et al., 2016, p. 184). The two train of thoughts are to use rule based discovery detection
and learning based discovery detection as the means to record and evaluate

Analysis Of Two Ears, Three Lucks By Grace Paley
Defining Grace Paley is hard since she is called many things. In short, she could be portrayed as a
political activist fighting war and injustice, a proud Jewish American, a creator of a better world
through listening, reading and teaching literature, a divorcee of two failed marriages, a hard core
feminist, a mother of a son and a daughter, a pacifist disapproving of war and nuclear weapons, a
woman, and both a postmodernist as a traditional realistic writer. Above all, her literary work as well
as her life and personality are not only fascinating but also well intertwined. Grace herself speaks of
her Two Ears, Three Lucks . She refers to her ears, one for home and one in charge of literature, and
her three lucks are in fact the meeting with an editor of Doubleday, Ken McCormick, the publication
of her short stories, and her involvement in history that happens to you while you re doing the dishes

Development and Use of the The DF-1 Cell Line
The DF 1 cell line was first created in 1997, by D. Foster and L. Foster at the University of Minnesota,
USA. DF 1 is a non tumorigenic chicken embryo fibroblast cell line derived from 10 day old East
Lansing Line eggs. Primary chicken embryonic fibroblasts were originally dissociated and grown in a
laboratory culture setting. The cells were then passaged until they began to deteriorate, then
concentrated to maintain around 30 60% confluence. The non aging cells were then identified and
grown for additional passages. This passaging resulted in the creation of the spontaneously
immortalized chicken cell line DF 1. Under a microscope, live adherent cells take on a spindle shaped
form, whereas dead cells will present as more rounded than spindle like. When culturing a DF 1 cell
line, the most common medium used for growth is a minimal essential medium, with 5% fetal calf
serum. The cell line is then grown/incubated at 39° Celsius. The DF 1 cell line is often used in the
research of avian viruses. It is unique to the group of mammalian cell lines in that it does not contain
endogenous sequences linked to avian sarcoma and leukosis, a first of its kind in continuous avian cell
lines. The study of avian retrovirology relies heavily on access to a continuous cell line, and the DF 1
cell line is both continuous and non transformed. Because the cell line lacks any sequences related to
avian viruses, it is most popularly used to study the effects of these viruses on cells as they

Equality In Early Generations In The United States
Earlier generations who migrated from other countries that came to start a new life had many things to
accomplish. At the start of the migration, people and settlers came for a new beginning and also a
fresh start at life itself. With that tough task at hand, it also came with a price, such as equality,
fighting for rights, the constant need for change and following a movement. During this essay I will be
able to shed some light and point of views on equality on generations, political pressure, engaging in
strikes and the division in social classes. In earlier generations, equality was not a topic that was very

essentially trying to contain us, so that we are so unprivileged and exhausted we wouldn t put up a

classes are divided in this perspective, if you knew or know someone of power them you belonged and

What Causes Sensorineural Hearing Loss?
Unlike conductive hearing loss causes, sensorineural loss is associated with the function of the inner
ear, including the nerves associated with hearing. Tumors, otosclerosis and other forms of genetic
hearing loss conditions can all contribute to this type of loss.
Meniere s Disease is a disorder that includes progressive hearing loss in the low frequency range.

The objective of the stadium can be considered as two levels including national level and project level.
For the national level, the stadium is designed for a landmark building by mixture of Chinese art and

For the project level, the construction needs to meet all technical requirements and all athletes

Common Cold Recovery
The runny nose, the painfully scratchy throat, and clammy body are all common symptoms of the

By following three simple and very effective steps, one can recover more quickly from a cold and
possibly avoid catching one altogether. Some of the best ways include following certain, specific
hygienic protocols, eating the proper, nutrient rich foods, and most importantly of all, resting. First,

Our bodies are outstandingly complex and capable of doing extraordinary things. Many of these things
happen while we sleep, such as the encoding long term memories. The repair of tissues and damaged

its way into our bodies, begins the task of injecting its own DNA into our cells, not only reproducing

Our bodies then attack these viral cells with the white blood cells, causing our bodies to kill these

Strategic Thinking and Strategic Management Processes...
A critical consideration of the contribution of strategic management and strategic thinking processes to

Strategic management and strategic thinking processes make a significant contribution to
organisational performance.
A strategy, according to Robbins and Barnwell (2002, p. 139) is the adoption of courses of action and
the allocation of resources necessary to achieve the organisation s goals .
It is important for organisations to achieve their goals, as this can assist them to reach a competitive

The nature of strategic thinking and strategic planning can be simplified through a comparison of
strategic planning as single loop learning and strategic thinking as double loop learning. The
relationship between the two shows them as separate factors, which are however, interrelated and
complementary thought methods. (Heracleous, 1998)
It is important to understand both strategic thinking and strategic planning in drawing conclusions of
the contributions of strategic thinking on organisational performance; this is due to the similarities
between the two. They must not be mistaken for one another and the results of one should not be
contributed to the results of the other.
Managers and organisations plan because it provides them with some direction and reduces
uncertainty within the firm. It is also used to set standards for controlling, it is therefore very
important within organisations. (Robbins, Bergman, Stagg Coulter et al, 2006)
According to Jones, Scholes and Whittington (2008, p. 402) Strategic planning may take the form of
systemised, step by step, chronological procedures to develop or coordinate an organisations strategy .
Strategic Thinking can be described as a process which enables senior management to create a
strategy, debate relevant issues, evaluate the internal and external environment, create strategic goals
for the organisation and carry the strategy through effectively. (Decision Processes International,

Palestine is the Holy Land of three of the world s major religions Islam, Judaism and Christianity.
They all have significant historical and religious sites in this region. (Harper, 1986, p.17)
The biblical claim, supported by the historical claim by the Jews, is at the heart of the major reasons
for the creation of the state of Israel. Its creation was based on the belief by Jews that the land was
promised to them by God. Even though there has been a series of take overs and occupations by others
in this area and the occurrence of numerous persecutions of Jews (which will be commented on later
4
in greater detail) worldwide since, causing other reasons for Jews to seek refuge in a homeland of their
own, the Biblical reasons should not be underestimated as a major factor for the state of Israel being
realised in the first place.
It was after Jewish exile and disaspora thereafter worldwide and the subsequent ramifications of this
that caused renewed motivation for the creation of the Jewish state. One such example came in the
form of Zionism.
ZIONISM
Since the abovementioned exile, the Jews experienced a broad disaspora and settled in numerous parts
of the world, notably Europe and the United States. There had been many persecutions of the Jews

Public College Boosting
. In the article Public College Boosting Aid to Wealthy as Poor Are Left Behind, by Marian Wand, the
author shares a story of little girl, Shauniqua Epps, she is 19 years old. Epps family lives in subsidized
housing in South Philadelphia. Epps father died when she was in the third grade, her mother lives on
social security which provides $698 a month. She has a good GPA and is also good in sports. She
applied for three colleges for higher education, but none of the colleges provided financial aid to her.
She did not go to any of the colleges because she could not afford the tuition. No one in family can
support her because Epps mother does not have enough knowledge to encourage her. This proves that
the students from low socio economic background were not encouraged by their ... Show more content

Deficiency in academic preparation occurs because of poor plans to attend college and an absence of
earlier experience of how the college environment works. The students from impoverished
backgrounds did not go to high level schools, so they do not have the college knowledge which is
needed to succeed in college and the future. In the article New Student Majority in South and West:
Poor Children by Sarah D. Sparks, the author shares that mostly in the south and southwest states
students live under poverty. Students academic careers are at a high risk because it is difficult to deal
with their problems. More than 50 % of the students live in poverty which is a pretty high rate, there
seems to be no place to get away from it. The biggest barrier for students in poverty is after graduating
from high school and deciding to move on to college. Most of the students from low socio economic
backgrounds always have a gap year after completing high school. They are not ready for college due
to the deficiency in language and quality of education.

Heroin In the Streets of Illinois
Who would expect that a town known for their excellent education systems, well developed economy,
and rapid population expansion to have the highest record of heroin deaths in one year in the United
States? Naperville, Illinois, is a suburb of Chicago, has been dealing with the loss of seven young
adults from overdoses of heroin in 2011 (Wilson). The early deaths of these young people are
completely avoidable. Having proper knowledge of the warning signs that heroin displays can help;
but to further the knowledge, having videos available to watch helps parents talk to their kids about
drug use. Better communication can always help any problem, which is another tactic that the city of
Naperville is planning to do.

One of the filmmakers stated that they felt like the use of heroin went underground after the film was
released because parents and others learned the secrets of drugs after watching it (Healy). This was the
film that brought Naperville together to work towards a safer community.
The shaken Naperville community is beginning to take steps to stop the craze of heroin. The city of
Naperville realized that it needed to have the whole community involved including schools, local
businesses, and religious groups. KidsMatter is a nonprofit organization that created ParentsMatterToo
which is aimed to help parents raise kids who avoid drugs. Having a strong connection between parent
and child can dramatically alter the outcome of their lives. A local article states that: 67% of
youngsters believe their parents are their biggest influence with regard to staying drug free (Welge).
Creating a bong between parent and child can save a life. ParentsMatterToo has interactive videos and
support groups which is offered to anyone wanting to know more (Wilson). Having this opportunity to
become educated about drugs can give parents more comfort when talking to their kid about drug use
and prevention.
ParentsMatterToo provides endless information about drug use, a common topic that would be
discussed with the support groups would be the warning signs. Parents need to be observant if they
suspect that their child is using drugs. Warning

Importance Of Leisure And Leisure
Introduction to Sociology: Assessment 3
How does thinking sociologically help us to understand the role and significance of sport or leisure in
contemporary Australia?
Leisure and sport play a significant role in contemporary Australia. Leisure can be defined as activities
we choose purely out of enjoyment and have no obligations to do and Sport can be defined as a
competitive activity. Leisure must be recognised as the opposite of work.
Sport and Leisure hasn t always had a major part of our everyday lives, as time has evolved so has
societies attitudes, the importance of sport and leisure has become emphasised, especially since the
industrial revolution. Sport and Leisure plays an important role of social development, self
development and community development. Within modern society, perceptions on leisure time and
sports has changed and improved dramatically, for example; prior to the 19th century national parks
didn t exist and the land would ve been seen as inconvenient or a burden on society whereas nowadays
it s somewhere you can go on an adventure and use the land in ways the pre revolution society would
never have imagined.
In the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) it states that all humans have the right and
should be entitled to rest, leisure and the reasonable limitation of working hours and access to the
cultural life of the community. Long before this was declared by the UDHR, in 1856 the 8 hour
working day was achieved in Australia,

Rosecrans s Battle At Chickamauga
In September of 1863 Major General William S. Rosecrans was on a roll. He and his Union Army of
the Cumberland had initiated their campaign in Tennessee against Confederate General Braxton Bragg
in December of the previous year. After fighting a major battle at Murfreesboro (Stones River) and
maneuvering adroitly to force the Confederates out of Tullahoma and then Chattanooga, Rosecrans
had driven Bragg s army completely out of Tennessee and into northern Georgia.
But now Bragg was through retreating. He had received enough reinforcements, including troops from
Robert E. Lee s Army of Northern Virginia under James Longstreet, to have numerical superiority
over Rosecrans, and he meant to make aggressive use of that advantage.

Rosecrans himself.
Rosecrans makes a fateful blunder
Gen Thomas J Wood, Union General at the Battle of Chickamauga
General Thomas J. Wood (Wikimedia)
Having been erroneously informed by staff officers that a gap had formed in the Union line facing the
Confederates, Rosecrans quickly ordered Brigadier General Thomas J. Wood to take his division and
close the gap. But in pulling his force out of its position and moving it to close a gap that didn t exist,
Wood opened up a real one.
It so happened that General Longstreet was already preparing an attack on just the position Wood was
moving away from. Longstreet s troops quickly poured through the now all too real gap in the Union
line, cutting the Northern force in two.
The result was little short of an absolute rout of the Federal army, with most of the troops, including
Rosecrans himself, along with most of his generals, running as fast as they could in disorganized
retreat back to the hoped for safety of Chattanooga. Only a heroic stand by General George H.
Thomas, who would thereafter be known as The Rock of Chickamauga, prevented the total
disintegration of the Northern

Oil Drilling and Pollution
One way that drilling for oil destroys animals homes is that fossil fuels create carbon dioxide, and then
that burned carbon dioxide goes into the atmosphere and then Global Warming is starting to melt the
ice caps that animals live on. Also, drilling the new wells that we have to drill to get the oil, that
makes the amount of land for the animals to make homes go down, and when the land amount goes
down so does the length of the animals, like the polar bear, go down. The average length of the polar
bears mating season is about from the months March until May. Where they want to reproduce is
normally around where seals like to be. But then When Global Warming gets more and more
threatening, they have nowhere to go now. Males tend to be very aggressive during the mating period,
so that kills off the population even more. When the female gets pregnant, she gains at least 44o
pounds because once the ice breaks, she won t be able to hunt for food. Another reason is that if we
happen to have an oil spill, that will devastate all the animals in the Arctic. For example, the oil spill in
the Gulf of Mexico oil spill was created because when the BP operated rig Macondo Prospect
exploded. The area in the Gulf that was affected by the spill was eight thousand five hundred miles, to
nine thousand, four hundred and twenty one miles in 2010. But, the use of technology has really
helped the oil and gas industry because it has stopped useless drilling. An example of this would be

The Life of Katherine of Aragon
Katherine of Aragon is famous for being the first of Henry VIII s many wives, the one who fought
back and defended her papally sanctioned marriage; the mother of Mary I; and the daughter of Isabella
of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon, founders of the kingdom of España. These facts place her in the
position of a traditional sixteenth century woman by defining her as wife, mother, and daughter. In
these roles, many women have been overlooked as the subject of their own study, and it certainly
makes sense to do this, as on the surface they are not in control of their own agency. Looking deeper,
however, one can see that this role places women instead in a position of power. From behind the
scenes, women like Katherine were able to pull the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the last Plantagenet was out of the way, Isabella and Ferdinand sent Katherine off to England
with a valuable trousseau and a fleet of wealthy Spanish nobles. The trip was long and hard, but when
they arrived in Plymouth they were greeted with joy and excitement. There were celebrations and
dinners before they continued on their way to London. On the night of November 4, at the Bishop s
Palace in Dogmersfield, Henry VII, his son Arthur, and members of the Privy Council arrived
unannounced to see the Infanta. After being told that she was already in bed Henry insisted on seeing
her anyway and proceeded to her room where they met for the first time. On November 9, Katherine
arrived in London, and she and Arthur were married on the 14th. After their marriage, they were taken
to their public wedding bed, where they were to consummate their marriage. According to Katherine s
testimony in later years, nothing of the sort actually happened. When the couple emerged from the bed
the next morning, the English report seeing a healthy boy of sanguine complexion. Yet both Katherine
and her Duenna continued to insist that she was still a virgin. Whatever their status, the newlyweds
soon went off to a castle in the country, where they stayed until Arthur died in April of 1502, less than
six months after they had been married. Widowhood and Father Figures Following the death of Prince

  • 2. Internet Neutrality Who owns the internet? The common opinion is that the web is a free and equal source for all its users, belonging to no one and everyone at the same time, however the increasing monopolization of content producers and methods of access has become a major cause for concern. As a unified, single entity, the Internet does not belong to any single person or organization, but the quality and levels of access available are dependent on thousands of corporate groups and impact every internet user. While once seen as an equalizing field, discussions of web fast lanes, private platforms, and pay for play access have turned the once obviously neutral Internet into a highly contested structure. Net neutrality is a step forward towards ensuring a future ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The preferential leveraging of certain websites by telos and ISPs inherently implies reduced access to others, Panda explains, ...this could lead to blocking others, either fully or, with choked access... ISPs are the gateway through which all access must pass. Millions of web pages, platforms, app, services, with any and all types of information and resources available. There are small, niche sites (Reddit forums on Twilight Zone special features) to large, global content (the DOW summary) available at all hours of the day, and while the educational value of each of these would undoubtedly vary from person to person, access to both of these does not. Comparatively, in a world without net neutrality equalized education is constantly at risk depending on their whims of the ISP. Attempting to access event coverage on FOX news could be slowed or blocked completely if Comcast is your internet service provider. This not only leads to biased or even misinformation, but further monetizes the very nature of education. Paid prioritization, where those with the most financial resources can speed up access to their content, would hurt public and non profit content providers, such as libraries, that cannot afford a fast lane for research and archival collections (Long). Additionally, because content providers that pay more for fast lanes could pass extra charges on to consumers for access to organizations that have not paid for such lanes, leading libraries and schools to end up paying more for commercial content while still losing their consumer base. ISPs are businesses at their core and thus have financial incentives to favor their own content over others, but once customers pay for their internet access, they should have the rights to choose the content they access. • 3. Moon Landing Conspiracy Research Paper Moon Landing Conspiracy Theories Many people think that the moon landing was faked. Lots of people think it was just done in some studio in Hollywood. But why do people think its fake? People think it is faked because of some of the pictures the astronauts took up on the moon. Many human beings think the moon landing was faked because of the pictures. In the background there are no stars in any of the pictures. Even some pictures there is a crater in the back that looks exactly the same but the stuff is just moved. Some pictures in the middle you can even see a line which looks like the bottom of a backdrop. There are even more pictures that looked faked like under the ship there was no landing crater. And it looks like there are studio light glares in some pictures. witnesses also say that the spaceship that they launched didn t even go to space, people say it only had fuel to reach the ocean somewhere, where there was a boat waiting to get them once they landed in the ocean. ... • 4. The principle of historical cost is still used in... Synopsis. Historical Cost Accounting is a traditional valuation method as it reflects only on the past cost of the asset, however in the contemporary business environment companies must remain flexible and transparent. This belief has lead to the creation of several other valuation methods, due to word constraints I have focused primarily on Fair Value Accounting as an alternative to Historical Cost Accounting. Although Fair value accounting is a theoretically superior valuation methodology, there are several severe problems in its current application, due to lax regulations and ineffective methods of determining current values of non current assets. These problems within Fair Value Accounting have ensured that most companies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Appropriate valuation of assets without verifiable data can be difficult and subjective. This is especially the case when there is no market for the asset and valuation must be wholly speculative, often leading to unintentional over valuations of assets. Furthermore, management using Fair Value Accounting may intentionally over value assets to improve the financial position of the company, as asset appreciation is recorded as revenue. Watts (2003, 2) points out that Enron s ability to manipulate fair values and WorldCom s capitalisation of unverifiable unused capacity, were factors in those particular accounting scandals. Comparison between Historical Cost Accounting and Fair Value Accounting. Quite clearly historical cost accounting has several limitations and flaws that can have notable influences on businesses and are often criticised. Still historical costs are the standard form of accounting due to its unique features and conventions that make it better than all currently available alternatives. If markets were liquid and transparent for all assets and liabilities, fair value accounting clearly would be reliable information useful in the decision making process. However, because many assets and liabilities do not have an active market, the inputs and methods for estimating their fair value are more subjective and, therefore, the valuations less reliable. • 6. Research Paper On John Grisham The anatomy and physiology of the human body is extremely complex in many different aspects. Scientifically, the human body is organized from simple to complex. The organization sequence begins with diminutive cells and finishes with multiplex organ systems. All people are typically organized in the same fashion. However, psychologically all people do not process information the same way. People have a myriad of motives for the actions they take in life. For instance, a person may be motivated or inspired by a situation he or she has been in, and they decide to act upon his or her beliefs. John Grisham, a well known novelist, was inspired to become a writer by past circumstances he has experienced, the knowledge he obtained by being a lawyer, through the stimulating people he has met throughout his life thus far, and to prove that people can experience a little adventure while reading. Axiomatically, to completely understand how an author writes his or her books people need to know the author s background. John Ray Grisham, Jr., was born on February 8th, 1955 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. John s father was a construction worker, and his family moved to different states frequently (June Harris). In essence, the actuator is an electro hydraulic device capable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The concept of variable valve timing has existed for some time. Unfortunately, the ability to achieve truly variable valve timing has eluded automotive manufacturers. Most variable timing mechanisms were created as tools for the automotive engineer. Their use was limited to the laboratory as a means of testing multiple, virtual cam profiles. These early camless engines allowed for the designers to choose the best cams for the engine under scrutiny, but were less than energy efficient. Furthermore, they were laboratory machines and were not capable of being mass produced or utilized in an automobile. There have been a few attempts at developing production models of camless engines, most notably by Ford, but the use of solenoids has impeded their implementation. Using solenoids to control hydraulic fluid and ultimately the opening and closing of the engine valves introduces its own limitations. The solenoids consume considerable energy and are a binary control device they are either on or off. Therefore the hydraulic fluid, controlled LIMITATIONS OF THE CAM: NEED FOR VARIABLE VALVE TIMING Automobile manufacturers have recognized the compromises associated with by the solenoids, is either flowing or blocked. This design allows for some variance of valve timing, but is still limited by the response capabilities of the solenoids. Furthermore, it cannot directly address valve velocity or displacement changes. DEVELOPMENT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Interlopers, the author Saki conveys a theme of don t waste your life on engaging in hatred cause death will follow, using the literary techniques of situational irony, imagery, and foreshadowing. Saki has displayed a theme of wasting your life on engaging in hatred because death will follow, by using the technique of irony. This theme comes into notice when the forresters walk out into the open to explore. Ulrich and Georg, the forresters, meet eyes in the middle of the open forest. Then, lighting struck and branches from the trees fall down onto Georg and Ulrich. The hatred turned from each other onto nature. Hoping that the other is dead, Ulrich shouts I m caught in my own forest land , and then their was a moment of silence (Saki 8). Georg was silent because he knew that this situation he got in, is very ironic. They re on their own land but yet trapped and nearing death all because of this long lasting family feud. Since death is nearing, Georg starts to get into panic mode. He shouts at Ulrich and says, Death and damnation to you, Ulrich Von Gradwitz , as they were trapped under the heavy tree branches (Saki 8). Georg didn t mean that in a bad way. In the texts Waste Land (Walker, 2010) by Lucy Walker and Morning Song by Sylvia Plath the poet and director display these issues and mindsets within these two different mediums that arise in the never ending process. The speaker of Morning Song exclaims We stand around blankly as walls when describing her mental composure to the audience. At this point the reader understands that the concept of motherhood is wildly new to the speaker and she has no idea what to do or how to connect herself to the child. The speaker also depicts the child as a new statue (line 4). This comparison is one that shows the audience that the mother sees the child as something mystifying and not human. Consequently, if she cannot view the child as an opposite of these characteristics, then she will fail to recognize her duties as a mother. One of the most hellish dragons that I possess is my anxiety. My anxiety has got the best of me most of the time when I was younger. It would be difficult for me to go out with other people. I often found myself isolating myself from the rest of the world. In the poem, Beowulf , Grendel often hides in his dwelling. A powerful monster, living down in the darkness, growled in pain, impatient as day after day (ln 80). Having excessive anxiety has developed into my second dragon which is appearence. My appearance is the most staggering dragon that I have is because it is a dragon I know I can never defeat. This dragon was mostly fueled by words that still haunt me to this day. • 18. The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Essay Methods One major method that will be used will be the statistics taken from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) provided by the NC department of health. Also, data will be used for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Trust for America s Health study, done for the year 2015. Both of these will give pertinent data on what factors may increase obesity over the target population. While the method of this surveillance may use the BRFSS, there can be many more other methods that can be used. In evaluating a financial project, majority of the times the methods used during the evaluations will be quantitative, in order to prove financial gain (Makarova Sokolva, 2014). The same quantitative method can also be used in two different ways within this project. The first method used for quantitative reporting, would be as the same as Makarova Sokolva mentioned, which would be using it as a financial indicator of the overall success of the project (Makarova Sokolva, 2014). As stated earlier, obese individuals spend about 1,429 dollars more on health care than a normal individual (Finkelstein, Trodgdon, Cohen Dietz, 2009). If an analyst wanted to take this quantitative method, they would use the amount of money saved per year, over the course of an individual s life, as a way to show that the evaluation of a plan was successful. To further this, if the surveillance saw one person stay below obese for 25 years, this would yield a total savings of around ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The authors attribute the malware being harder to detect because modern security solutions rely on the ability to recognize known code and signatures. This article was the summary of research conducted in order to introduce a network request level causal analysis for malware detection (Zhang, H. et al., 2016, p. 181). The major premise of the article was that they propose the use of algorithms to search and monitor triggering events. Triggering events that were not caused by a user action were referred to as vagabond requests (Zhang, H. et al., 2016, p. 183). Events that were occurring without legitimate cause by a user interaction, requests or initiation were viewed suspiciously as possible malware activities (Zhang, H. et al., 2016, p. 183). • 28. Development and Use of the The DF-1 Cell Line The DF 1 cell line was first created in 1997, by D. Foster and L. Foster at the University of Minnesota, USA. DF 1 is a non tumorigenic chicken embryo fibroblast cell line derived from 10 day old East Lansing Line eggs. Primary chicken embryonic fibroblasts were originally dissociated and grown in a laboratory culture setting. The cells were then passaged until they began to deteriorate, then concentrated to maintain around 30 60% confluence. The non aging cells were then identified and grown for additional passages. This passaging resulted in the creation of the spontaneously immortalized chicken cell line DF 1. Under a microscope, live adherent cells take on a spindle shaped form, whereas dead cells will present as more rounded than spindle like. When culturing a DF 1 cell line, the most common medium used for growth is a minimal essential medium, with 5% fetal calf serum. The cell line is then grown/incubated at 39° Celsius. The DF 1 cell line is often used in the research of avian viruses. It is unique to the group of mammalian cell lines in that it does not contain endogenous sequences linked to avian sarcoma and leukosis, a first of its kind in continuous avian cell lines. The study of avian retrovirology relies heavily on access to a continuous cell line, and the DF 1 cell line is both continuous and non transformed. It is important for organisations to achieve their goals, as this can assist them to reach a competitive advantage, which is a highly attractive position for a firm to be in. This essay will look at strategic management processes and how they can be used to improve organisational performance; it will also describe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The nature of strategic thinking and strategic planning can be simplified through a comparison of strategic planning as single loop learning and strategic thinking as double loop learning. The relationship between the two shows them as separate factors, which are however, interrelated and complementary thought methods. (Heracleous, 1998) It is important to understand both strategic thinking and strategic planning in drawing conclusions of the contributions of strategic thinking on organisational performance; this is due to the similarities between the two. They must not be mistaken for one another and the results of one should not be contributed to the results of the other. Managers and organisations plan because it provides them with some direction and reduces uncertainty within the firm. It is also used to set standards for controlling, it is therefore very important within organisations. (Robbins, Bergman, Stagg Coulter et al, 2006) According to Jones, Scholes and Whittington (2008, p. 402) Strategic planning may take the form of systemised, step by step, chronological procedures to develop or coordinate an organisations strategy . Strategic Thinking can be described as a process which enables senior management to create a strategy, debate relevant issues, evaluate the internal and external environment, create strategic goals for the organisation and carry the strategy through effectively. Palestine is the Holy Land of three of the world s major religions Islam, Judaism and Christianity. They all have significant historical and religious sites in this region. (Harper, 1986, p.17) The biblical claim, supported by the historical claim by the Jews, is at the heart of the major reasons for the creation of the state of Israel. Its creation was based on the belief by Jews that the land was promised to them by God. Even though there has been a series of take overs and occupations by others in this area and the occurrence of numerous persecutions of Jews (which will be commented on later 4 in greater detail) worldwide since, causing other reasons for Jews to seek refuge in a homeland of their own, the Biblical reasons should not be underestimated as a major factor for the state of Israel being realised in the first place. It was after Jewish exile and disaspora thereafter worldwide and the subsequent ramifications of this that caused renewed motivation for the creation of the Jewish state. One such example came in the

  • 44. Importance Of Leisure And Leisure Introduction to Sociology: Assessment 3 How does thinking sociologically help us to understand the role and significance of sport or leisure in contemporary Australia? Leisure and sport play a significant role in contemporary Australia. Leisure can be defined as activities we choose purely out of enjoyment and have no obligations to do and Sport can be defined as a competitive activity. Leisure must be recognised as the opposite of work. Sport and Leisure hasn t always had a major part of our everyday lives, as time has evolved so has societies attitudes, the importance of sport and leisure has become emphasised, especially since the industrial revolution. Sport and Leisure plays an important role of social development, self development and community development. Within modern society, perceptions on leisure time and sports has changed and improved dramatically, for example; prior to the 19th century national parks didn t exist and the land would ve been seen as inconvenient or a burden on society whereas nowadays it s somewhere you can go on an adventure and use the land in ways the pre revolution society would never have imagined. In the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) it states that all humans have the right and should be entitled to rest, leisure and the reasonable limitation of working hours and access to the cultural life of the community. Long before this was declared by the UDHR, in 1856 the 8 hour working day was achieved in Australia, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Rosecrans s Battle At Chickamauga In September of 1863 Major General William S. Rosecrans was on a roll. He and his Union Army of the Cumberland had initiated their campaign in Tennessee against Confederate General Braxton Bragg in December of the previous year. After fighting a major battle at Murfreesboro (Stones River) and maneuvering adroitly to force the Confederates out of Tullahoma and then Chattanooga, Rosecrans had driven Bragg s army completely out of Tennessee and into northern Georgia. But now Bragg was through retreating. He had received enough reinforcements, including troops from Robert E. Lee s Army of Northern Virginia under James Longstreet, to have numerical superiority over Rosecrans, and he meant to make aggressive use of that advantage. Bragg attacks Rosecrans at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rosecrans himself. Rosecrans makes a fateful blunder Gen Thomas J Wood, Union General at the Battle of Chickamauga General Thomas J. Wood (Wikimedia) Having been erroneously informed by staff officers that a gap had formed in the Union line facing the Confederates, Rosecrans quickly ordered Brigadier General Thomas J. Wood to take his division and close the gap. But in pulling his force out of its position and moving it to close a gap that didn t exist, Wood opened up a real one. It so happened that General Longstreet was already preparing an attack on just the position Wood was moving away from. Longstreet s troops quickly poured through the now all too real gap in the Union line, cutting the Northern force in two. The result was little short of an absolute rout of the Federal army, with most of the troops, including Rosecrans himself, along with most of his generals, running as fast as they could in disorganized retreat back to the hoped for safety of Chattanooga. Only a heroic stand by General George H. Thomas, who would thereafter be known as The Rock of Chickamauga, prevented the total disintegration of the Northern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Oil Drilling and Pollution One way that drilling for oil destroys animals homes is that fossil fuels create carbon dioxide, and then that burned carbon dioxide goes into the atmosphere and then Global Warming is starting to melt the ice caps that animals live on. Also, drilling the new wells that we have to drill to get the oil, that makes the amount of land for the animals to make homes go down, and when the land amount goes down so does the length of the animals, like the polar bear, go down. The average length of the polar bears mating season is about from the months March until May. Where they want to reproduce is normally around where seals like to be. But then When Global Warming gets more and more threatening, they have nowhere to go now. Males tend to be very aggressive during the mating period, so that kills off the population even more. When the female gets pregnant, she gains at least 44o pounds because once the ice breaks, she won t be able to hunt for food. Another reason is that if we happen to have an oil spill, that will devastate all the animals in the Arctic. For example, the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill was created because when the BP operated rig Macondo Prospect exploded. The area in the Gulf that was affected by the spill was eight thousand five hundred miles, to nine thousand, four hundred and twenty one miles in 2010. But, the use of technology has really helped the oil and gas industry because it has stopped useless drilling. An example of this would be the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Life of Katherine of Aragon Katherine of Aragon is famous for being the first of Henry VIII s many wives, the one who fought back and defended her papally sanctioned marriage; the mother of Mary I; and the daughter of Isabella of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon, founders of the kingdom of España. These facts place her in the position of a traditional sixteenth century woman by defining her as wife, mother, and daughter. In these roles, many women have been overlooked as the subject of their own study, and it certainly makes sense to do this, as on the surface they are not in control of their own agency. Looking deeper, however, one can see that this role places women instead in a position of power. From behind the scenes, women like Katherine were able to pull the ... Once the last Plantagenet was out of the way, Isabella and Ferdinand sent Katherine off to England with a valuable trousseau and a fleet of wealthy Spanish nobles. The trip was long and hard, but when they arrived in Plymouth they were greeted with joy and excitement. There were celebrations and dinners before they continued on their way to London. On the night of November 4, at the Bishop s Palace in Dogmersfield, Henry VII, his son Arthur, and members of the Privy Council arrived unannounced to see the Infanta. After being told that she was already in bed Henry insisted on seeing her anyway and proceeded to her room where they met for the first time. On November 9, Katherine arrived in London, and she and Arthur were married on the 14th. After their marriage, they were taken to their public wedding bed, where they were to consummate their marriage.
