Materials Of A Rocket Or Space Shuttle
Abstract: Many people think that going to the outer space is not that complex when talking about the
materials of a rocket or space shuttle. Most people believe that metal is all that is needed and that in
fact that is all it has. The truth is that it required a lot of research and procedures to come up with the
right materials to people to withstand rigorous conditions. In other words, materials had to be
engineered to work with extreme heat, cold and pressure changes. Due to some other issues such as
collision from debris and unforeseen events the space shuttle had to be cancelled. The risks were too
high even with all the engineering of materials.
During the 1955 the race to see who would send the first astronaut to space began between the United
States and the Soviet Union. At that time, they were using rockets without the thought of being reused.
All they really want was to win the race of who would send the first astronaut to space. As time went
by, they decided that the rockets should be able to be reused. The problem with the first designs is that
they were disposable and expensive. So in 1972 the space shuttle program officially began. The
shuttle were a way to lower the costs by having an aircraft connected with a rocket that would boost it
out of space and then be able to land on earth. Therefore, the aircraft would be reused and just have a
new rocket and external tank. The problem was to come up with a material that could be reused
without suffering from

Feminist Theory In The Movie The Accused
1
1. Introduction
Feminist theory is a supporter of equality for man and women. For such long time, mostly the old
days, there were so many limitations to what a lady should be or permitted to do, throughout the years
with the assistance of education and acknowledgment that all sexual orientations are and should be
equal, this has become less and less over time but it still exist at this very moment. In the movie The
Accused , Sarah Tobias (Jodie Foster) is ruthlessly assaulted by three men in a bar while individuals
watch and cheer. A district Attorney Kathryn Murphy (Kelly McGillis) takes the case, however, allows
the rapists to receive a mild sentence. A distraught Sarah decides to seek punishment for the men who
witnessed and encouraged the assault. To get justice, Sarah must take the stand and revisit the night of
her attack in this drama based on true events. In this essay, I will dive into the film The Accused then
explain what the feminist theory really means and its background and lastly, apply the theory to the
film to better understand how it works in reality.
2. The Accused
After having a bad fight with her boyfriend, Sarah Tobias goes to a bar to sit down to chat with her
great friend. They sit and discuss anything to get her mind off of her boyfriend issue which prompts
her flirting with one of the guys at the bar. She had an impression that he was funny and cool, so
appreciated his company. She starts drinking and smoking with the guy, which was a bad idea.

Financial Reporting And The International Accounting...
Introduction Purpose
Complexity in financial reporting is apparent especially when applying it to relevant accounting
theories. Complexity is the state of being difficult to understand and apply (SEC 2008, cited in
Petersen, 2012). When we apply complexity to accounting we think of it in terms of applying it to
accounting transactions which flow onto financial statements and how these were developed from the
Accounting Standards. (Peterson, 2012, p.73). The purpose of this report is to address the complexity
of financial reporting and how the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) intends to do
address this problem through its Disclosure Initiative .
The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is the international accounting standards
developed by the ISAB. The ISAB have set up the Disclosure Initiative to examine where IFRS could
be improved.
We will examine the complexity of financial reporting and how it applies to Positive Accounting
Theory (PAT). We will also discuss how measurement of financial reporting effects the complexity of
financial statements in terms of fair value and historical cost methods. We will use supporting
evidence from peer reviewed journal articles to support our argument. We will then present our
findings and recommendations to the Corporate Governance Council Chairman of Australian
Securities Exchange (ASX).

Theories Of Brain Aging
Aging is a process of becoming older. It is among the largest known risk factors for most human
diseases and most common neurodegenerative disorders. The multisystem de¬cline is associated with
increasing pathology. Aging process is associated with several structural, chemical, and functional
changes in the brain as well as neurocognitive changes. Brain aging may occur in several forms, such
as progressive loss of specific neuronal populations and connections, behavioral and memory deficits,
increased oxidative stress (Maynard et al., 2015). In the brain, the most sensitive regions to oxidative
stress include the cerebral cortex, the hippocampus, and the striatum. Brain aging has many theories,

Voter Identification Dbq
Among many political issues in the election seasons of 2012 and 2016, voter identification has
become a prominent talking point among candidates and subsequently all of America. Voter
identification laws require that prospective voters to show some form of state provided identification
in order to be able to cast a ballot. The ones who create these laws proclaim that they are in order to
reduce voter fraud in elections, but the real purpose is something much more sinister. The true reason
so many people support voter identification laws is because they suppress minorities from voting,
usually helping the Republican party. Minorities have a harder time acquiring valid identification, and
therefore are more negatively impacted by these laws. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Voter identification laws are made specifically in order to stop certain people from voting, and hurt the
candidates that they would have otherwise voted for. This can be seen from an analysis of where the
voter identification laws have been passed and how they have affected the winners of elections.
Source E cites a Washington Post article that draws a direct line towards voter identification laws and
Republican legislatures. The article says, Where these laws are enacted, the influence of Democrats
and liberals wanes and the power of Republicans grows... What they are really saying is that
Republicans pass these laws to suppress Democratic voters, so they can be voted in again in the next
election. It is a widely known fact that more minorities vote Democrat, so these Republican
lawmakers try to stop some of the minorities from voting by passing these identification laws. This
perpetuates the unfair balance of power in our seemingly democratic nation, and makes it so the white
man stays in power while the minorities do not have a voice. This problem is also addressed in the
novel Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, where the white man s power is
unchecked while the minorities have no voice. Although written in a very different time, it can be
argued that many racist views held long ago are still present in modern America. One such example of
this continued racism is

How The Glasnost Policy To Modernize And Revitalize The...
As George Washington once said, If freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may
be led, like sheep to the slaughter is a concept that is connected to the policy that was appointed in
Soviet Union. Mikhail Gorbachev, the new leader of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic launched
three policies in 1985, to modernize and revitalize the Soviet Union. The three policies were
Perestroika, a political movement for reformation within the Communist party, Glasnost, the open
discussion of political/social issues, and Demokratizatsia, which enabled them to make changes by
permitting wider access to the government (Cold War Perestroika and Glasnost). The Glasnost policy
brought enormous changes, politically and socially in the Soviet Union. It brought openness to the
media and reduced the traditional constraints on the flow of government. ... Show more content on

Although the policy of Glasnost caused much of the Soviet Union to panic with the openness of
media, it encouraged the people to express their opinion, abetted the introduction of western culture
and increased international affairs, which ultimately proves that Glasnost was the key to Russian
success in the world.
Glasnost was beneficial to the people of Russia and the media because it emboldened them to express
their opinions and recognize the past problems of the Soviet Union. Mikhail Gorbachev wanted the
public to actively participate in the society and create more transparency between the government and
the public. The book Glasnost the Dawn of Freedom by Richard Shifter quotes that Glasnost permitted

Country Club Golf Degree
During the high school summers, I worked on a country club golf course. My job mainly consisted of
greeting the members as they came to golf, clean their clubs, and wash the carts. I was basically the
face of the country club golf operations. Many members are regular golfers whom come by the club
multiple times a week. Through the years, I met and formed really close friendships with a select few
members. These members collectively decided to take me under their wing. This was around the time
I was applying for colleges. Through our many conversations, and learning about their lives (they are
both in the business field), I changed my intended major from chemistry to finance, and switched my
intended school from the out of state University of Michigan to the in state Indiana University. These

Our Knowledge Of Living Things Increases Essay
As our knowledge of living things increases, as we come to a deeper understanding of their life cycles,
their interactions with other organisms, and the manifold ways in which they adjust to the
environment, we become more fully aware of how each of them is carrying out its biological functions
according to the laws of its species specific nature. But besides this, our increasing knowledge and
understanding also develop in us a sharpened awareness of the uniqueness of each individual
organism. Scientists who have made careful studies of particular plants and animals, whether in the
field or in laboratories, have often acquired a knowledge of their subjects as identifiable individuals.
Close observation over extended periods of time has led them to an appreciation of the unique
personalities of their subjects. Sometimes a scientist may come to take a special interest in a particular
animal or plant, all the while remaining strictly objective in the gathering and recording of data.
Nonscientists may likewise experience this development of interest when, as amateur naturalists, they
make accurate observations over sustained periods of close acquaintance with an individual organism.
As one becomes more and more familiar with the organism and its behavior, one becomes fully
sensitive to the particular way it is living out its life cycle. One may become fascinated by it and even
experience some involvement with its good and bad fortunes (that is, with the occurrence of

Okonkwo as Classic Greek Hero in Things Fall Apart
A sense of foreboding envelops us from the first. We sense all will not end well for Umuofia. The chill
of fear grips us as the world of Okonkwo and his clan truly falls apart. Okonkwo will need all of his
power to fight the forces against his world, but tragically he is crippled by the most destructive malady
of all, fear of himself. Achebe employs the form of classical Greek tragedy to tell his African tale of
the rise and fall of Okonkwo.

we understand the problem for the hero and his society change is coming, but the hatred of his father
and the resulting anger and fear have afflicted Okonkwo. His flaw will be his downfall in coping with
the changes to come.
Okonkwo fears for his disturbingly weak son, Nyowe, and teaches him with his stories masculine
stories of violence and bloodshed. (p. 53) But Nyowe prefers the stories of his mother stories which
teach wisdom rather than action. Nyowe knows that it pleases his father to listen to his stories, but it is
apparent that Nyowe is a thinking person. As Nyowe absorbs the shock of Ikemefuna s death, we feel
the first break in the solidarity of the clan. . Nyowe knew that Ikemefuna had been killed, and
something seemed to give way inside him, like the snapping of a tightened bow. (p. 61) Nyowe is
forming his own impressions of the rituals of his society.
We sense that the death of Ikemefuna has been a turning point in the story. The sense of foreboding
grows. We know the inevitability of disaster now; the crisis is developing. Okonkwo has ignored the
advice of Ezeudu, the wise man inserted in the tale in traditional Greek form. Although he was

Project Risk Management
Risk ( the effect of uncertainty on objectives, whether positive or negative) the probability of
unfortunate events . Risks can come from uncertainty in financial markets, project failures, legal
liabilities, credit risk, accidents, natural causes and disasters as well as deliberate attacks from an
adversary. Project finance is different from traditional forms of finance because the financier
principally looks to the assets and revenue of the project in order to secure and service the loan. In
contrast to an ordinary borrowing situation, in a project financing the financier usually has little or no

The financing is typically secured by all of the project assets. Project lenders are given a lien on these
assets, and are able to assume control of a project if the borrowers have difficulties complying with the
loan terms.
Project financing discipline includes understanding the rationale for project financing, preparation of
the financial plan, assessment of the risks, designing the financing mix, and raising the funds. In
addition, one must understand the cogent analyses of why some project financing plans have
succeeded while others have failed. A knowledge base is required regarding the design of contractual
arrangements to support project financing; issues like the host of legislative provisions, government
and administrative constrains, public and private infrastructure partnerships, public and private
financing structures; credit requirements of lenders, how to determine the project s borrowing
capacity; how to prepare cash flow projections and use them to measure expected rates of return; tax
and accounting considerations; and analytical techniques to validate the project s feasibility.
Project finance is finance for a particular project, such as a mine, toll road, railway, pipeline, power
station, hospital, which is repaid from the cash flow of that project. Project finance is different from
traditional forms of finance because the financier principally looks to the assets and revenue of the

Diagnostic And Diagnostic Classification System Essay
Introduction
Mental health disorders has been very strenuous and complex to understand and diagnose, many
diagnosis criteria such as DSM have been used to determine the disorders and medication (Szabo,
2011). I am asserting that Yes, Psychopathology diagnostic classification systems (such as the DSM or
ICD) are of little use to health professionals and patients because behaviours are often misidentified
and medicalised . To assert this, this paper is going to explore four main topics that contribute to the
little use of psychopathology diagnostic classification system, these include downsides for using DSM
diagnostic criteria, Medicalisation and misdiagnose, consequences of medicalisation to the health
professionals and community and Psychological trauma in patients. Szabo, (2011) states that
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) has been utilised to diagnose and
categorize mental illness in psychiatry. However this diagnosis is focused on definitions of operational
rather than the cause (Warelow Holmes, 2011). This paper will first explore the downside of using
DSM criteria to diagnose mental health.
Downsides for using DSM diagnostic criteria
Using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder as a diagnostic method has been of
little use for clients and health professionals as this method gives indications that are similar for nearly
all mental health issues (Johnstone, 2008). The fact is that there is no individuals who can claim

Persuasive Essay On Society
People think of me as a mannequin. All show and no substance. It s not often that someone can say
that they have something in common with a celebrity; however, unfortunately I can. Brooke Shields,
the well known model turned actress that verbalized my thoughts, and I are alike in one way; both of
us have been molded into life size dummies. The object that best represents me is a mannequin. I have
discovered this through universal, personal and practical avenues of inquiry.
Firstly, we don t often think about how a life size dummy relates to us as humans or the impact they ve
had on our society as a whole; however, they play a major role in the way we view ourselves as
individuals and function as a collective society. We preach about how precious individuality is, but
intentionally or not, we often strive to become identical to the perceptions of perfection in society. As
a matter of fact, mannequins are often perceived as a universal image of perfection due to their
figures, the various on trend outfits they display, and sometimes even the human like faces painted
onto them. As young children, whenever we go shopping with our parents we would stumble across
displays that would showcase little boys and girls with cool , new outfits and toys and we would
attempt to convince our parents to buy them. As we get into our teen years, often as girls, we see the
mannequins as constant reminders of what we strive to be based on whatever the ideal body type may

Statistical Data For Forecasting Future Staffing
A wide selection of statistical methods is available for use in Human Resources forecasting. Out of the
many techniques some of the prominent ones include, trend, ratio, and regression analysis methods.
Trend Analysis:
Essentially, trend analysis, looks at previous employment levels against business variables to predict
future staffing requirements. All the more, trend analysis uses historical data for forecasting future
staffing needs. Likewise, trend analysis creates a relationship between past and future staffing needs.
Trend analysis is appliedwhen organizations have data mostly on historical staffing levels with less
detailed information on specific predictions. The breaking down of data into specific time periods of
demand are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A trend analysis allows the human resources department and the owner of the organization to pinpoint
the main causes and issues affecting the rate at which employees leave a workforce and are replaced.
Further, it pinpoints how these actions impact the business. Trend analysis results can help in
estimating the complexity and supply of skills that may be available in the future and from there make
projections about future workforce requirements (Lohrey, (n.d.)..
A trend analysis generates both quantitative and qualitative data outcomes. While quantitative data is
most valuable for making staffing predictions, qualitative data is useful in a diversity of ways. It can
help you discover why employees leave and why they choose to stay. Furthermore, this information
can be crucial in creating employee engagement initiatives that are intended to increase morale,
employee satisfaction and, most of all, productivity. It can also help you determine whether additional
training is required to develop current employee skill sets to improve retention rates (Woltmann
Whitley, 2007).
Moreover, trend analysis is more suited for an existing business because it requires historical staffing
data to make future staffing projections and predictions. Likewise, this generates an association
between past and future staffing needs by connecting the two using a performance or financial metric
called an operational

Theme Of Immigration In West Side Story
Cultural interactions are important when it comes to settling during an immigration. The movie West
Side Story shows the way the Puerto Ricans tried to fit in and be a part of the New York City
community. Once they got into New York City, the Puerto Ricans engaged themselves in various
economic activities like working in stores for other people. The main theme of the West Side Story
showed that intercultural relationships were an important part of the lives of the immigrants and
emigrants of NYC. The paper has managed to show that cultural interactions are of great importance
when it comes to the settling in of immigrants in a new community. The Puerto Ricans indeed faced
many issues when they got to NYC. The existing communities made it difficult for them to settle in
well. There was too much hatred and violence between the two cultures in that community that even
brought about death. Love usually have a way of cooling people down. When Tony and Maria fell in
love despite the differences in their cultures, something special happened. Although they were not able
to achieve their dreams because Tony ended up being killed, the two cultures were able to discard their
hatred for each other and come together for the first time. Indeed, the smooth settling of immigrants
greatly depends on the cultural interactions in their new destination.

Throughout the years 1825 1850, reformers in America sought change and worked to get it. Through

own cause. America saw many movements that sought to provide positive reformation in areas such as

reform movement that sought change during this time period were those who believed in temperance.

Asymmetrical Relationship Between Government And...
In our reading of Illicit by Naim (2005), he suggests that the asymmetrical relationship between the
government and transnational crime groups create a struggle for the government to respond to these
transnational crimes at a decent rate (Naim,2005). On the other side our reading in McMafia: A
Journey Through the Global Criminal Underworld by Glenny (2009), suggest otherwise. Glenny
(2009) suggests that of a relationship between transnational crime groups, the public, the government
and this is a huge aspect to how the government responds to these factors. Both perspectives contain
their strengths and weaknesses, however the dependency theory by Glenny has more valid points than
that of the asymmetrical theory by Naim.
The asymmetrical theory by Naim says that the differences between the government and that of
transnational crime creates asymmetry (Naim,2005). Different government agencies are organized in a
hierarchical relationship that functions consistently from the top to the bottom (Naim,2005).
Governments must often follow legal processes that take up time and cost money. These governments
are forced to follow budget constraints, as well as legal and political reservation (Naim,2005). These
governments must operate within the control of their constitution. In comparison, these transnational
crime groups operate in less harsh structures, and are able to have more flexibility in their decision
making, as well as have unlimited funds available to them. The government s

Mankind has been aware of the presence of magnetism and electricity since ancient times. Prehistoric
man observed instances of lightning and static electricity, as well even creating a primitive version of
the compass. Magnetism wasn t officially discovered until the late 16th Century, and it would be even
longer until scientists learn to wield electricity for demonstrations in the 18th Century. Now, three
hundred years later, we are combining these two forces to enhance transportation across the globe.
From underground subway systems, all electric cars and even hover cars, electromagnetism has
revolutionized the way we get around.
Once the concepts of electricity and magnetism were grasped, it did not take long for automobile
manufacturers to begin to use electricity and magnetism to improve their products. Before the starter
motor was implemented, engines had to be manually primed by the use of a hand crank. Not only was
this a bothersome inconvenience to automobile owners, but it was dangerous as well. Any number of
injuries could be sustained from a back firing engine. As engines became larger and more powerful, it
also became more physically demanding to start them, making it almost impossible for those with any
sort of handicap to operate without assistance.
History:
In 1896, in East Peckham, England, H.J. Dowsing installed the first electric starter on an Arnold, and
the idea soon spread to the United States. Cadillac released self starting models in

* Expansion in the retail sector has led to creation of jobs which has raised attrition levels to up to 50
%. As a means of retaining employees and cutting down the costs incurred due to attrition, companies

demand for engineers, resulting in an increase in their movement across companies at the rate of 25 %.
The engineering companies are starting to pay hikes and growth assurance, to curtail attrition levels. *
The manufacturing sector remains most consistent among all sectors with a consistent attrition rate of
20% across the years. * Loss of intellectual property is one of the most challenging problems faced by
the companies as an upshot of attrition. Hospitality, IT, hospitals, engineering sectors are the worst
affected sectors in terms of intellectual property loss especially in the absence of any laws to protect
the interest of an organization. * The study has found that the most attrition is taking place among the
employees who are in the age group of 26 to 30 years and experience level of 2 to 4 years while the

How Did Langston Hughes Contribute To The Harlem Renaissance
The Harlem Renaissance stands as one of the greatest cultural, social and artistic movements in U.S.
history. This time period consisted of a migration of black Americans from rural Southern states such
as Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana to urban Harlem, New York. Originally called, the New Negro
Movement meaning, many believed this brought a new black cultural identity to an almost all white
culture. At this time, Langston Hughes, famous Harlem Renaissance author, wrote many controversial
pieces about slavery, he mentions that they send him to eat in the kitchen (Hughes 1) which describes
how many slaves suffered in these days. For America, this movement helped redefine how America
saw the African American community, and it helped set the stage for the Civil Rights Movement of
1950 1960. For Langston Hughes, his works reflected his love for jazz music but also told the story of
what he saw and heard back in the 1920 s to the 1930 s, what most call, the Harlem Renaissance. ...

With whites standing as the more dominant race back then, many of them became curious of what
actually occurred in the daily life of a black man in Harlem. This curiosity lit the match for the Harlem
Renaissance to occur. Many African American poets, singers, and painters, like Langston Hughes,
came into the light at this time and joined in on the cultural tradition of African American humor,
music, and song; their work thus accords a privileged place for the many and varied sounds of
laughter in black America at this time (Chasar 58). The culture these African Americans brought to an
almost white country in every way other than color, deems worthy of more praise than it received. The
Harlem Renaissance brought a cultural explosion to a predominantly white nation. The effects of this
cultural blend became far reaching even though it gained far less recognition than

The Day After Analysis
The Day After The American television film The Day After is a 1980s science fiction film dramatizing
the catastrophic events resulting from a nuclear fallout between the United States and the Soviet
Union. The movie documents the accustomed lives of two diverging families in three distinct,
chronological stages. The first phase begins in a pre war period during which Dr. Russell Oakes and
his wife, Helen, a noble Kansas City family, receive word from their daughter that she will be moving
to Boston. Meanwhile, in the bordering state of Missouri, the Dahlberg s, a rural family of five, are
preparing for the upcoming marriage of their eldest child, Denise. Amid these monumental changes,
the families are further burdened by an emergency broadcast, warning a sudden declaration of war.
When the first missile hits, Dr. Oakes is stranded on a crowded highway some thirty miles away, en
route to the University of Kansas Hospital. He arrives by foot to treat a myriad of wounded patients,
suffering from exposure to the high levels of radiation released upon the missiles impact. As the crisis
escalates, and another missile is launched from a nearby field in Missouri, the Dahlberg s move hastily
to take shelter in their basement, however, not without consequence; their youngest son, Danny,
catches sight as a missile detonated and is blinded. Soon thereafter, KU student Stephen Klein
wandered upon the farm and is warily taken in by the Dahlberg s. But, when Denise goes frantic after

My Big Fat Greek Wedding Essay
Family Analysis of My Big Fat Greek Wedding In the 2002 movie, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, one
can find many interesting family details. The story is about a Greek woman, Toula Portokalos, who
falls in love with a non Greek man, how she gets her family to accept him, and how she sees herself as
a Greek individual. As for structure, the family is very patriarchal in nature. This is evidenced by the
way in which the women in the Portokalos family goes about breaking the news that Toula wants to
work at her aunt s travel agency. As Toula s mother says, The man is the head of the house, but the
woman is the neck. The women trick Toula s father into thinking that it was his idea to have her work
at the agency so he will allow her to work there. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the text, families add their own controls to achieve peace and quiet by using family
myths (CITATION, pg. 132). In other words, to help keep structure and the family in line there are
myths that are formed to keep the family closer. This is seen when Gus believes that Windex can heal
any wound; he sprays the cleaning product on cuts, rashes, and even pimples! The Greek family
believes that spitting on a loved one warns off evil spirits. There is also the myth that a Greek woman
has to marry a Greek man. Of course, Ian didn t have to be baptized for him to marry Toula, but as a
sign of respect for the family he did. Keeping everything the same and keeping everything Greek is a
way for the family to achieve their peace and quiet. Another theory that explains how to family relates
to each other is through the balance of social/behavioral exchange as explained in cognitive behavioral
theory. The theory of social exchange is when people strive to maximize rewards and minimize costs
and the behavior exchange theory is when there is a high ratio of benefits to costs (CITATION, pg.
168). Basically, the balance of social/behavioral exchange is about balanced relations; there is a
balance in giving a

Animal Testing And Its Effects On The Poor Treatment Of...
An increasing number of activists believe that animals have rights. However, this idea is somewhat
controversial because animal activists look down upon the poor treatment of animals. They have a fear
that animal testing is causing abuse and suffering to the helpless animals. Animal testing is a fairly
serious matter because of all of the malfunctions and harm that leads to animal suffrage. The types of
animals being used, such as rats, mice, rabbits, and chips are selected specifically for the test that is
being performed. The outcomes of the test, depends on which animal is being tested and what it is
being examined for. Common tests being used on animals include, medicine for human diseases,
cosmetic products and their reactions, and students in training utilizing animals in educational
laboratories. Many different types of species are used for testing and experimentation, but the most
common types are mice, rats, rabbits, and chimpanzees. Rodents such as rats and mice are commonly
used for testing products for many reasons, one being their frequent reproduction. Mice and rats are
mammals with nervous systems similar to our own therefore, they are tested and given cancer, tumors,
paralysis, and high levels of anxiety and depression in their immune systems. Rabbits are often used in
animal testing and experiments because of their mild temperament and they are easy to handle. They
are used in cruel chemical test to study cardiovascular disease, skin conditions, and spinal

The State Of Nature In Thomas Hobbes s Leviathan
In Thomas Hobbes Leviathan, the state of nature is described as a state of war. Hobbes says that the
lack of a common, sovereign power causes a state of war. In order to understand the argument that
Hobbes makes, I will define commonwealth, natural man, state of nature and law of nature. These
terms are crucial to understand the complex argument that Hobbes lays out calling the state of nature
a, war of every man against every man, (Somerville 142). In this paper I will discuss Hobbes
argument in detail.
The key terms throughout this complex argument that Hobbes uses, are important to understand, to
fully comprehend the point that Hobbes wants to come across in Leviathan . When referring to the
commonwealth, Hobbes wants the reader to understand, that this is a body of people that submit to a
sovereignty to rule over them completely. This complete compliance with their new government is
meant to uphold peace and order in their society. A natural man, in Hobbes argument, means a man, or
woman, in the state of nature. The state of nature, according to Hobbes , is the natural state of
humankind that would exist if there were no government. Along with having no government, there is
no civilization and no law to control human nature. The law of nature is what gives every person the
right to self preservation. These terms greatly contribute to the structure and meaning behind Thomas
Hobbes argument that the state of nature is a state of war. Thomas Hobbes starts out

The Effects of Television Violence on America Essay
America has the highest crime rate in the world. Along with that crime rate is also the very high
violence rate. Why is violence becoming and everyday event in our society? When you flip on the
television and tune into the news, the highlight of every show is somehow directly related or
connected to violence. We see it every evening and perhaps say Oh my gosh and then forget all about
it two minutes later. Or perhaps we don t even make any comments at all, just a simple grunt or Oh,
how terrible . This numbness to violence is very scary and real. It makes you blind to the fact, that
America has the most crime and violence. Why not Switzerland or Australia? Are we not as civilized
and advanced as they are? I believe it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They need to learn to talk out and solve any disagreements or problems through other means than
violence. They must not know violence as an answer, as if violence was never even an option to
consider in solving a problem. I recently became aware of the problem of violence in children when I
started observing my child at play at my apartment complex. I had watched my daughter play with
many children and never really noticed nothing violent nor aggressive about her. However as she gets
older and more interested in television she is becoming, much more aggressive especially as she plays
outside with her friends. She would punch and copy the moves of the cartoon shows she watched even
to the point of copying their war cries and sayings. The media claims that they have no influence on
children, that could not be further from the truth. Children are the easiest to manipulate and take
advantage of because they are innocent and because they are innocent they are also ignorant. The main
problem was the television shows that she was watching. That is very obvious. The problem was not
just television itself but the combination of television and child. Children are very susceptible and
easily persuaded as we all know. In the early 1960 s, Albert Bandura of Stanford was the first to
present the theory that children not only learned from their parents through imitation but also through

Legal Implications Of In Nursing Essay
Legal Implications of Understaffing in Nursing
Noa Schwartz
Hunter College
Abstract
A shortage of nursing staff in a healthcare center is a great burden for all involved. For the nurse, it is
overwhelming and even potentially dangerous to take on the grand responsibility of many patients to
care for. For the patients, the burden lies in getting the care they deserve. For the hospital it is the
burden of staying afloat financially and utilizing resources to the fullest. This tug of war between
nurse, patient, and administration is key to many legal issues in healthcare. Who is responsible if any
part of this relationship goes awry? What are some solutions to help mitigate the burden? Is there a
magic number in staffing ratios? Understaffing nurses in healthcare is a gray area, with definitions that
cannot be defined indefinitely. What laws are involved and the debate if it should be a legal issue at all
is up for discussion. This paper will analyze and discuss the topic, elaborating complications and
implications this issue has in nursing.
Legal Implications of Understaffing in Nursing
The harsh reality of understaffing in healthcare centers is a real and prevalent issue. Nurses are being
forced to compromise care due to being given responsibility over too many patients at a time. The
New England Journal of Medicine (Needleman et al., 2002) explains how staffing issues are linked to
adverse patient outcomes. This includes length of stay in

Essay on Recognizing the Armenian Genocide
The Armenian Genocide, also known as the Armenian Holocaust, was the organized killing of
Armenians. While there is no clear agreement on how many Armenians lost their lives, there is general
agreement among Western scholars that over a million Armenians may have perished between 1914
and 1918. It all happened during the Ottoman Empire, present day Turkey, where 2 million Armenians
lived. The Armenian Genocide is the second most studied massacre, after the Holocaust. To date
Twenty two countries have officially recognized what happened as genocide, but Turkey to this day

However, in 1913, an ultra nationalist group within the movement seized control of the group. This
faction was comprised of men who believed in creating a pure Turkish country that excluded non
Muslim and non Turkish people like the Christian Armenians (FACT SHEET). Two of head people of
CUP (Committee for Union and Progress) would later be responsible for initiating the mass murder.
They were Talat Pasha, and Jamal Pasha. Talat Pasha, also known as Mehmed Talat, was the minister
of interior affairs and Jamal Pasha was the Military Governor of Syria. These leaders became close
friends with Germany which in turn supplied the Turks with military support and training and in 1914,
the Ottoman Empire aligned itself with Germany and the central powers in World War I. As the war
raged on, and the Turks fought the Christian Russians, they began to worry about the Armenians. They
were worried that the Armenians would turn on them and fight on the enemy s side. Therefore CUP
decided the best thing to do is eliminate the race, wipe them off the face of the earth. The start of the
genocide started early in the year of 1915. The Turkish government starts to poke at an Armenian
massacre by publicly accusing and punishing Armenian bakers on an obviously false charge of
poisoning their bread (Genocide). By this time the Turks have also disarmed most of the Armenians
that are/were serving in the military (FACT SHEET). April 24th 1915,

majority of human civilization produced toys. Nowadays, toys are mass produced and have become an
essential item in the human lifestyle. So much so that these toys have the ability to shape children or
adults to act or be a certain way. Companies take advantage of their products and advertising to have

NBA 2K18, an annual installment of the 2K series, is targeted towards anyone who generally enjoys
basketball who is over the age of ten. Interestingly, many parents opt to buy this game for even
younger children who are fans of the NBA so that the children themselves can indulge in continuing
their interest in basketball. What makes NBA 2K18 so effective is the realism it portrays through
simulation. Players are able to control an NBA player or team and learn many different play styles of
basketball. Implicitly, the game allows players through observation to fundamentally make
adjustments to their own play style in real life or mimic aspects of professional player to make
themselves better. On the other hand, players through simulation may simply play their own play style
and learn its weakness and strengths through success or failures against other players, friends, or
computer simulated games. For anyone who does not play basketball, NBA2K appeals to many
because the NBA has such a huge fanbase. By being able to control players in the NBA, fans can

  • 2. Materials Of A Rocket Or Space Shuttle Abstract: Many people think that going to the outer space is not that complex when talking about the materials of a rocket or space shuttle. Most people believe that metal is all that is needed and that in fact that is all it has. The truth is that it required a lot of research and procedures to come up with the right materials to people to withstand rigorous conditions. In other words, materials had to be engineered to work with extreme heat, cold and pressure changes. Due to some other issues such as collision from debris and unforeseen events the space shuttle had to be cancelled. The risks were too high even with all the engineering of materials. During the 1955 the race to see who would send the first astronaut to space began between the United States and the Soviet Union. At that time, they were using rockets without the thought of being reused. All they really want was to win the race of who would send the first astronaut to space. As time went by, they decided that the rockets should be able to be reused. The problem with the first designs is that they were disposable and expensive. So in 1972 the space shuttle program officially began. The shuttle were a way to lower the costs by having an aircraft connected with a rocket that would boost it out of space and then be able to land on earth. Therefore, the aircraft would be reused and just have a new rocket and external tank. The problem was to come up with a material that could be reused without suffering from ... • 3. Feminist Theory In The Movie The Accused 1 1. Introduction Feminist theory is a supporter of equality for man and women. For such long time, mostly the old days, there were so many limitations to what a lady should be or permitted to do, throughout the years with the assistance of education and acknowledgment that all sexual orientations are and should be equal, this has become less and less over time but it still exist at this very moment. In the movie The Accused , Sarah Tobias (Jodie Foster) is ruthlessly assaulted by three men in a bar while individuals watch and cheer. A district Attorney Kathryn Murphy (Kelly McGillis) takes the case, however, allows the rapists to receive a mild sentence. A distraught Sarah decides to seek punishment for the men who witnessed and encouraged the assault. To get justice, Sarah must take the stand and revisit the night of her attack in this drama based on true events. In this essay, I will dive into the film The Accused then explain what the feminist theory really means and its background and lastly, apply the theory to the film to better understand how it works in reality. 2. The Accused After having a bad fight with her boyfriend, Sarah Tobias goes to a bar to sit down to chat with her great friend. They sit and discuss anything to get her mind off of her boyfriend issue which prompts her flirting with one of the guys at the bar. She had an impression that he was funny and cool, so appreciated his company. She starts drinking and smoking with the guy, which was a bad idea. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Financial Reporting And The International Accounting... Introduction Purpose Complexity in financial reporting is apparent especially when applying it to relevant accounting theories. Complexity is the state of being difficult to understand and apply (SEC 2008, cited in Petersen, 2012). When we apply complexity to accounting we think of it in terms of applying it to accounting transactions which flow onto financial statements and how these were developed from the Accounting Standards. (Peterson, 2012, p.73). The purpose of this report is to address the complexity of financial reporting and how the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) intends to do address this problem through its Disclosure Initiative . The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is the international accounting standards developed by the ISAB. The ISAB have set up the Disclosure Initiative to examine where IFRS could be improved. We will examine the complexity of financial reporting and how it applies to Positive Accounting Theory (PAT). We will also discuss how measurement of financial reporting effects the complexity of financial statements in terms of fair value and historical cost methods. We will use supporting evidence from peer reviewed journal articles to support our argument. We will then present our findings and recommendations to the Corporate Governance Council Chairman of Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). The Opportunistic View AGENCY THEORY Agency theory refers to the relationship between the owners ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Voter Identification Dbq Among many political issues in the election seasons of 2012 and 2016, voter identification has become a prominent talking point among candidates and subsequently all of America. Voter identification laws require that prospective voters to show some form of state provided identification in order to be able to cast a ballot. The ones who create these laws proclaim that they are in order to reduce voter fraud in elections, but the real purpose is something much more sinister. The true reason so many people support voter identification laws is because they suppress minorities from voting, usually helping the Republican party. Minorities have a harder time acquiring valid identification, and therefore are more negatively impacted by these laws. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Voter identification laws are made specifically in order to stop certain people from voting, and hurt the candidates that they would have otherwise voted for. This can be seen from an analysis of where the voter identification laws have been passed and how they have affected the winners of elections. Source E cites a Washington Post article that draws a direct line towards voter identification laws and Republican legislatures. The article says, Where these laws are enacted, the influence of Democrats and liberals wanes and the power of Republicans grows... What they are really saying is that Republicans pass these laws to suppress Democratic voters, so they can be voted in again in the next election. It is a widely known fact that more minorities vote Democrat, so these Republican lawmakers try to stop some of the minorities from voting by passing these identification laws. This perpetuates the unfair balance of power in our seemingly democratic nation, and makes it so the white man stays in power while the minorities do not have a voice. This problem is also addressed in the novel Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, where the white man s power is unchecked while the minorities have no voice. Although written in a very different time, it can be argued that many racist views held long ago are still present in modern America. One such example of this continued racism is ... As George Washington once said, If freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter is a concept that is connected to the policy that was appointed in Soviet Union. Mikhail Gorbachev, the new leader of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic launched three policies in 1985, to modernize and revitalize the Soviet Union. The three policies were Perestroika, a political movement for reformation within the Communist party, Glasnost, the open discussion of political/social issues, and Demokratizatsia, which enabled them to make changes by permitting wider access to the government (Cold War Perestroika and Glasnost). The Glasnost policy brought enormous changes, politically and socially in the Soviet Union. It brought openness to the media and reduced the traditional constraints on the flow of government. ... Although the policy of Glasnost caused much of the Soviet Union to panic with the openness of media, it encouraged the people to express their opinion, abetted the introduction of western culture and increased international affairs, which ultimately proves that Glasnost was the key to Russian success in the world. Glasnost was beneficial to the people of Russia and the media because it emboldened them to express their opinions and recognize the past problems of the Soviet Union. Mikhail Gorbachev wanted the public to actively participate in the society and create more transparency between the government and the public. • 9. Country Club Golf Degree During the high school summers, I worked on a country club golf course. My job mainly consisted of greeting the members as they came to golf, clean their clubs, and wash the carts. I was basically the face of the country club golf operations. Many members are regular golfers whom come by the club multiple times a week. Through the years, I met and formed really close friendships with a select few members. These members collectively decided to take me under their wing. This was around the time I was applying for colleges. Through our many conversations, and learning about their lives (they are both in the business field), I changed my intended major from chemistry to finance, and switched my intended school from the out of state University of Michigan to the in state Indiana University. • 10. Our Knowledge Of Living Things Increases Essay As our knowledge of living things increases, as we come to a deeper understanding of their life cycles, their interactions with other organisms, and the manifold ways in which they adjust to the environment, we become more fully aware of how each of them is carrying out its biological functions according to the laws of its species specific nature. But besides this, our increasing knowledge and understanding also develop in us a sharpened awareness of the uniqueness of each individual organism. Scientists who have made careful studies of particular plants and animals, whether in the field or in laboratories, have often acquired a knowledge of their subjects as identifiable individuals. Close observation over extended periods of time has led them to an appreciation of the unique personalities of their subjects. Sometimes a scientist may come to take a special interest in a particular animal or plant, all the while remaining strictly objective in the gathering and recording of data. Nonscientists may likewise experience this development of interest when, as amateur naturalists, they make accurate observations over sustained periods of close acquaintance with an individual organism. As one becomes more and more familiar with the organism and its behavior, one becomes fully sensitive to the particular way it is living out its life cycle. One may become fascinated by it and even experience some involvement with its good and bad fortunes (that is, with the occurrence of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In our reading of Illicit by Naim (2005), he suggests that the asymmetrical relationship between the government and transnational crime groups create a struggle for the government to respond to these transnational crimes at a decent rate (Naim,2005). On the other side our reading in McMafia: A Journey Through the Global Criminal Underworld by Glenny (2009), suggest otherwise. Glenny (2009) suggests that of a relationship between transnational crime groups, the public, the government and this is a huge aspect to how the government responds to these factors. Both perspectives contain their strengths and weaknesses, however the dependency theory by Glenny has more valid points than that of the asymmetrical theory by Naim. The asymmetrical theory by Naim says that the differences between the government and that of transnational crime creates asymmetry (Naim,2005). Different government agencies are organized in a hierarchical relationship that functions consistently from the top to the bottom (Naim,2005). Governments must often follow legal processes that take up time and cost money. These governments are forced to follow budget constraints, as well as legal and political reservation (Naim,2005). Prehistoric man observed instances of lightning and static electricity, as well even creating a primitive version of the compass. Magnetism wasn t officially discovered until the late 16th Century, and it would be even longer until scientists learn to wield electricity for demonstrations in the 18th Century. Now, three hundred years later, we are combining these two forces to enhance transportation across the globe. From underground subway systems, all electric cars and even hover cars, electromagnetism has revolutionized the way we get around. Once the concepts of electricity and magnetism were grasped, it did not take long for automobile manufacturers to begin to use electricity and magnetism to improve their products. Before the starter motor was implemented, engines had to be manually primed by the use of a hand crank. Not only was this a bothersome inconvenience to automobile owners, but it was dangerous as well. Any number of injuries could be sustained from a back firing engine. As engines became larger and more powerful, it also became more physically demanding to start them, making it almost impossible for those with any sort of handicap to operate without assistance.
