Aladdin Research Paper
The Ultimate Falafel Experience in Miami at Aladdin If you would like to experience a great Falafel
sandwich and many other traditional Middle Eastern meals then Aladdin is the Middle Eastern Market
that you should visit. The country that Falafel originated from is not quite known but it is thought that
it could be Egypt. It contains no meat and is a deep fried ball made from chickpeas or fava beans. It is
generally served like a sandwich in pita bread topped with salads and combined with tahini sauce
which is absolutely divine. Middle Eastern Appetisers The great thing about Falafel is that it can be
served as a full meal along with the numerous salads on offer at Aladdin or on its own as an appetiser.

Elizabethan Poor Law 1601
Elizabethan Poor Laws
The Human Services world we know today is based on a law that started back in the 15th century.
Before the Reformation, it was considered a religious duty to assist the poor. However, after the
establishment of the Church of England, those duties seemed to slowly decimate. Queen Elizabeth I,
also known as the Virgin Queen, started the Poor Act of 1601 These laws were implemented in
English society to assist those in need of help. Thus, giving human services a foundation.
Queen Elizabeth I was the daughter of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. After Anne was beheaded,
Elizabeth lost the title of Princess and became a lady after she was deemed illegitimate. It was not
until Catherine Parr married her father that Elizabeth got her education. After her father died,
Elizabeth s nine year old brother became king. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After twenty five years, the Parliament created the post of the Overseer of the Poor. It was not until
four more years later in 1601 that all the prior laws were lumped together created the Elizabethan Poor
Law of 1601.
This law required two Overseers of the Poor to be selected by each parish. It was the Overseer s job to
see what the financial needs wherein their parish, then they would have to set up a poor tax. Thus
collecting it from landowners in the said parish. Then they would be overseeing the money or food is
giving to the poor and supervising the almshouses.
The system that the Poor Law of 1601 has brought has greatly established the human services here in
modern America. To be specific, the system for food stamps and cash assistance is the very same way.
In order to be granted food stamps, you must show that you are in one of the three categories, idled
poor, able bodied poor, or impotent poor. With the proof, the people within the offices are able to
determine how much you can get and if you can find a job to help you get back on your

Effect of Colonisation
Maori world views were encapsulated in Whakapapa, which provided them with their identity, in
Whanau, Hapu, Iwi and Whenua, the land. Their world views also included believing in wairuatanga
(spiritual connection to the natural environment), kaitiakitanga, which is that people are linked to all
living and non living things and it is the responsibility of the mankind to safeguard the ecosystem. In
addition, they believed in oneness (kotahitanga) and manaakitanga the ability to care for others
(Hikuroa, 2010). According to Durie (as cited in Dew Davis, 2006) Maori people were able to manage
health by sound public health principles. They were able to preserve and store food, maintain clean
water supply, have proper sanitation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another breach in the Treaty was seen when the Tohunga Suppression Act 1907 was passed and
outlawed tohunga. Hence Maori lost the freedom to employ traditional methods of healing through
karakia, mirimiri (massage), and wai rakau (Maori plant medication) contributing to the destruction of
many traditional skills as well as expertise. Several other law enforcement and fragmented governance
during the peak of colonisation affected the Maori and was in breach with the Treaty. The main agenda
was the assimilation of the Maori with the Pakeha. One such Act was the draconian Town and Country
Planning Act 1926, which was used to remove Maori from their traditional settlements to blend with
Pakeha culture. The aim of which was to provide the pakeha with enough land to do the farming.
Consequently, Maori were forced to leave behind their traditional world in the name of urbanisation
causing separation of Maori from Maori. Poor levels of education exacerbated the social situation, like
poor housing, unemployment and low income. All these factors are the determinants of health and it
was seen that from year 1964 1984 there was a continual decline in Maori health. Now Maori
represent lower socioeconomic status in all the strata and this will probably predict a greater
likelihood of adopting risk laden lifestyle. Implications to nursing As nurses we represent a powerful

Public Education
There are many fundamental factors of our public education. I think that teachers are the most
fundamental factors of our public education because teachers teach us thing we need to know for the
future and that helps us get a better career. Technology that we have now is also important. I also got
information from other students of what they thought was the most fundamental factor of our public
education. Students I asked mostly all of them said the same thing I did. They said, Teachers are the
most important part of school because they are the ones that are educating us. and The teachers
because they help you and affect your future. Other students I asked said, If you don t get an education

With technology we have more resources we could use and find more information from, otherwise
without Chromebooks we would have to get information from the textbooks and they don t have a lot
of information in them. If we didn t have Chromebooks, we would have to write more on paper which
is bad because our hands would hurt a lot after writing stuff in seven different classes. Also, we would
be using a lot of paper which is bad because people are cutting down trees for paper. Having
Chromebooks is also beneficial because if we are absent any day we could go one Google Classroom
and do the assignment or we could email our teachers so they could tell us what they did in class. We
are lucky that we get an education. Other kids around the world don t get an education. In 2013, an
estimated 110 million kids around the world don t go to school or can t go to school. Out of those 110
million kids, 60 percent are girls. In some places, only boys get to go to school and girls just help at
home. In other places, kids can t go to school because they have disabilities, child marriage, child
labourers, or they can t afford it and here it s free to go to school.
There are a lot of fundamental factors of our public education. To me, teachers are the most

The Theme Of Family Relationships In Oedipus Rex By Sophocles
In the trilogy of Oedipus, Sophocles constructed an enthralling family dynamic that induces central
themes throughout the play. In numerous works of literature, family relationships engage in the central
message of a piece of work. In Sophocles three plays, specifically interconnection between siblings
and parent relationships create, refines, and complicates themes of power, love family, pride, and
extreme fate. Starting with Sophocles primary play, Oedipus Rex, the relationship between Oedipus
and his parents support the works theme of fate and pride. Through antecedent action told throughout
Oedipus Rex, Oedipus received a prophecy that he would kill his father and sleep with his mother.
Jocasta, his biological mother additionally received a prophecy long before Oedipus pronouncing her
child to kill her husband. Both, Jocasta and Oedipus recall that they can outsmart the prophecies by
avoiding the fate in which they write. With extreme pride that they carry out avoidance plans that
contribute to the plot and irony of Sophocles work. Jocasta sentenced her son to death to avoid her
prophecy. Oedipus ran from his perceived real parents, from Corinth to Thebes to avoid his fate,
killing a stranger on the way to the new kingdom. Eventually, Oedipus and Jocasta get married and
conceive children together providing accuracy to their fate later when all mysterious are discovered.
Their relationships shows that the Gods are beyond their control, even though with their hubris that
noted they could get out of it. The family relationship aspect of Oedipus Rex, situation adds more
dramatized plot to Sophocles work. Faith in the trilogies is a concept in all of Sophocles three plays
that can unarguably be avoided, Oedipus and Jocasta having the same thought process and traits
shows a son and mother relationships. Jocasta and Oedipus marrying one another is Sophocles way of
creating the irony for viewers of the play. In addition to parent relations, in, Oedipus at Colonus, the
family relationship of siblings shows the aspects of pride, power, and loyalty. Polynices and Eteocles,
Oedipus sons/brothers are at conflict with one another, both wanting the loyal power of the King
position. Eteclos has claimed the

Non Verbal And Verbal Communication
Communication is important in any industry. There are many forms of communication and it is
constantly evolving. One such field that communication is important in is physical therapy. There is
constant interaction between patients, physical therapists, physical therapists assistants, other
employees, other health professionals, etc. This report will look at communication within different
levels of employment, non verbal and verbal communication, communication impacted by the
audience, technology, interpersonal skills, and feedback.
First and foremost is non verbal communication. The very first impression you have of someone is
their physical appearance. Nonverbal communication plays a large role in the dynamics of how people
relate to one another in the workplace (Perkins, 2010). It is important for workers in the physical
therapy profession to dress appropriately and show confidence. When working with patients there is a
lot to consider. What type of message do you send, consciously and unconsciously, in the way you
dress, your facial expression, your greeting rituals, your displays of emotion, your gestures, your tone
of voice, or your use of space? (Perkins, 2010, p. 51). It is important to consider all these because the
patient wants to know and feel they are in good hands.
Nonverbal communication is also important within the work area. Employers want to know they can
trust their employees especially with patients. An individual also wants to get along with their

Lao Tzu Vs. Machiavelli
Government
(Lao tzu V. Machiavelli) What is government? Government is the governing body of nation, state, or
community. Government determines the way any group of people are ran. There a several different
types of government used all around the world. In the United States for example, uses a type of
government that has three different branches of power. The Legislative Branch is the law making
branch. The Judicial branch is the courts and the low enforcement. Lastly, the Executive branch is the
presidential branch. Each has its own responsibilities and at the same time they work together to make
the country run smoothly and to assure that the rights of citizens are not ignored or disallowed.
(Osborne) Usually, governments break up the responsibilities into two or more groups. Two very
influential writers wrote about their views on government; Lao tzu and Machiavelli. These writers
were in very different times which makes it very interesting to compare their views. Lao tzu and
Machiavelli had very different views on the ultimate purpose of government, the obligations of
government leaders, and the main work of the state. To begin, Lao tzu s and Machiavelli s views on
the ultimate purpose of government are very different. First of all, Lao tzu s idea of the purpose of
government is more as a suggestion or a guide. Lao tzu believes that government should not be a part
of people s personal lives in any way shape or form. He believes in a very simple type of government.

Building A Financial Portfolio For A Hypothetical Client
Introduction This report will lay out the various steps involved in construction a financial portfolio for
a hypothetical client. This report will lay out the various steps involved, right from the acquisition of
the client, to the constructing of a portfolio, and back testing that portfolio to see how the portfolio
performed over the most recent one or three year period. The process of portfolio management
involves a lot of subjective and objective analysis, especially when dealing with individual high net
worth clients. While the definition of a high net worth client varies, it is usually taken to mean an
individual with more than $1 million of investable assets excluding collectibles, consumer durables
and the primary residence (The Guardian, 2014). For the purpose of this report, our hypothetical client
has the following characteristics: Age: 56 Employment Status: Employed Time Horizon: 25 years
Investable Assets: $5 million Domicile: London, United Kingdom Years to Retirement: 5 Level of
Risk Aversion: High Other preferences: Not looking for capital growth, mainly income with low
volatility; Prefer passive investing The objective of any portfolio manager is to maximize return for a
given level of risk, or minimize risk to achieve a certain level of return. The objectives relate to
making decisions about the investment mix, matching investments to objectives, and balancing risk
versus performance (CFA Society, 2010). Portfolio Construction

Analysis Of Black Forest Christian Fellowship
As one enters Black Forest Christian Fellowship s building, a school auditorium, the first thing he
would notice was the talking. Groups of people are gathered throughout the building, conversing
animatedly; they are mostly white and young. No one sits alone. Floor to ceiling windows fill the
auditorium with welcoming light as slides flash on the screen announcing events coming up during the
next month: mostly fellowship picnics and guest speakers. The worship band quietly gathers onstage,
and the worship leader, a tall man in his fifties, plays a few notes on the baby grand piano. Everyone
moves to their seats like clockwork, still whispering amongst themselves. One of the church s pastors
greets everyone with prayer and announcements, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the songs to the preaching to the prayers BFCF sets itself apart as a place for loyalists,
Christians who already know what they re looking for in a church. The songs and prayer specifically
appeal to more Christians seeking fellowship and growth with an emotional undertone. Unbelievers
would be welcome, but they would feel out of place, especially due to BFCF s overarching views on
culture. Black Forest Christian Fellowship makes their cultural views clear from the first song. They
sing about winning the nation back, begging God to set their hearts on fire for Him. Even the sermon
illustration about comic books begs the question as to why Christians are spending so much time and
effort on the things of the world. They believe there is hope for the culture, but that God must bring
about change. Seclusion is not preached, but there is a distinct separation between church and culture.
And while some of the songs, sans lyrics, could easily be the background to a song playing on the
radio, the lyrics are distinctly worshipful. Black Forest Christian Fellowship is attempting to be in the
world but not of it, strengthening already converted Christians in their faith. It utilizes aspects of the
culture, such as music, but it is not incredibly involved in evangelism on a church basis. Certainly,
members of the church are highly involved in evangelizing the community. Some are even
missionaries. It is simply a church not for

The Problem Of Chemical Dependency
Chemical Dependency is common. It is most likely more common than one would think. The 2013
report from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found the percent of people 12
years of age and over with any illicit drug use in the past month: was 9.4%. The statistics also show
people 12 years of age and over with any nonmedical use of a psychotherapeutic drug in the past

Risk Factors and Protective Factors
According to Walsh (2012), experimentation with alcohol and drugs is the most prominent risk to
becoming a substance abuser. There are neurologists and mental health professions that agree some
people are more susceptible than other people to becoming addicted to substances because of genetic,
biological, or environmental differences. Some of these risk factors include, but are not limited to:
family history of substance abuse, mental disorders, childhood trauma, and early experimentation with
substances. Even someone who does not have these risk factors but experiments with substances can
still become addicted. Typically, the more risk factors a person has, the more likely are chances that
using drugs will lead to abuse and addiction. Alternatively, having protective factors reduce a person s
risk of developing addiction. These protective

Spanish and French Monarchial Beliefs
The palace of Versailles was built by Louis XIV of France (1643 1715), and the Escorial was built by
Philip II of Spain (1556 1598). By examining the aerial and frontal facades of these two palaces, it
may be seen that there were many similarities and differences between the two kings perception and
practice of monarchy. Each king set his own goals for his life, and concluded as to how a monarch
ought to behave. Both Louis XIV and Philip II had religious duties to pay attention to, organized the
distribution of power in their respective kingdoms, communicated with other countries and entities
through war and diplomacy, raised militaries, and made plans for the expansion of their own beliefs,
thoughts and practices. Aside from these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Louis XIV preferred to delegate power to new nobles, or affluent bourgeois who had recently received
their noble status from the king. The lords who were not hereditary nobles had not yet had enough
time to gain any actual power that could be used in rebellion against the king. Philip II, however, did
not diversify the existing hierarchy of power, but embraced it. Upon the building of the Escorial, many
new Hidalgos were not created just to satisfy the needs of a larger bureaucracy. In addition, the Roman
Catholic church even went inside the walls of the Escorial. This shows Philip II s embrace of the
existing power of the Holy See. Conversely, at the court of Versailles, Louis XIV did not make the
church a significant part of his chateau, therefore removing most of the internal persuasion from the
clergy. (Even if there was a large religious influence at Versailles, by the Pragmatic Sanction of
Bourges (1438), the ‘Galician church was politically independent from the Holy See.) br br Louis
XIV and Philip II had some similar and some different methods for handling foreign affairs. Louis
XIV deployed the French army against many different peoples, being always at war or preparing for
war in order to keep peace at home, and war abroad. Philip II also deployed his armies against various
people, however, he did so in order to expand the boundaries of Catholicism. Concerning diplomatic
relations, Louis XIV was much more involved than

The Ethics of Stem Cell Research Essay
According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), stem cells are 1 Cells with the ability to divide
for indefinite periods in culture and to give rise to specialized cells. Stem cells are basically
unspecialized cells that can, with proper physiologic or experimental conditions, become specialized
cells. Specialized cells are usually called differentiated cells. These differentiated cells can then be
used to repair damaged cells and eventually cure many diseases and disorders in humans. This could
revolutionize the way society treats health issues. Instead of trying to destroy and sure a disease or
disorder, doctors could simply grow new cells that would be able to repair or replace the damaged
cells and tissue.
Adult Stem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recently, however, there has been some evidence that indicates that adult stem cells may be able to
develop into more than one type of specialized cell, but nothing is entirely conclusive. Because of
these problems, adult stem cells are difficult to use for extensive research.
Embryonic Stem Cells
Embryonic stem cell research is the more controversial of the two major types of stem cells. These
types of stem cells are taken from embryos that were produced through in vitro fertilization. Most
embryos used for stem cell research are taken from those donated after in vitro fertilization. Once the
embryo that is to inserted back into the woman?s body is chosen, scientists use the left over embryos
to extract stem cells. After about four or five days after fertilization, the egg becomes a group of cells
called a blastocyst. The inner cell mass of the blastocyst contains about thirty cells that can be
extracted. Once extracted, the cells are put into a culture dish which contains a nutrient broth or
culture medium. The culture dish has been coated with mouse skin cells in the past. This gives the
stem cells something to attach to. Recently, researchers have been able to grow stem cells without the
use of the mouse cells. This eliminates the risk of any contamination that the mouse cells may have
caused. In this dish, the cells divide and grow in number. As the cells grow and begin to crowd the
original plate, they are carefully removed and placed into

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Special Needs Pupils
In Rantsu the approach for the special needs pupils is different from the other two analysed schools:
they have special classes, some of them are stable, others are used just in some periods.
The decision to make special classes can be based on the presence of serious cases of disabilities or
can be a way to help these special needs pupils to have a more personalized study path.
Even if it could be a good method to teach them, it could be dangerous to isolate these pupils from the
others. The other pupils will not face the presence of them, and these pupils will not be pushed to

Canada Family Structure
Canada is a popular country that neighbors the United States of America and was originally controlled
by the French and British. The nation of Canada has a primarily cold climate and its citizens are
usually stereotyped as friendly and over apologetic. Canada seems to have good relations with many
other countries, which could explain its ethnic and cultural diversity. Despite it s close proximity to
America, the prime family structure of Canada differs slightly. In Canada, there are many families
who don t follow the typical nuclear family structure. A nuclear structure consists of two parents and
their children, while most married couples in Canada do not have children. In Canada in 2011, only
31.9% of family consisted of two parents with children while 35.1% consisted of just a married

Differences Between Wolf Alice And The Company Of Wolf
Similarities and differences between Wolf Alice and The Company of Wolves by Angela Carter
Angela Carter was born on 7 May 1940 and died on 16 February 1992. She is known for her feminist,
magical realism, and picaresque works. Angela Carter story The Company of Wolves British Gothic
fantasy horror film was directed by Neil Jordan in 1984. Angela Carter s literary work is her interest in
changing gender roles and this is evident in both stories The Company of wolves tells the story of a
girl who is deceived and captured by the fake form of a handsome man who is actually the wolf in the
story. In The Company of Wolves and Wolf Alice , Angela Carter uses the supernatural practicality,
violent behaviour and sexually aroused, to present ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the company of wolves carter uses words such as knife to show braveness of the girl. When the girl
laughs looking at the wolf it too signifies that the girl won t be bullied or feel afraid of any beast.
Accept otherness, and give confidence the other to do so because everyone is intelligent to find
pleasure and live contently even though the views of society may enjoy. According to Carter feminism
does not mean a dominating sex, but equal opportunity between genders, as each is equal within
creation. Carter influences the reader the danger of women being deceived and captured by the false
form of men. This idea is totally differing in Wolf Alice it is women who are obtainable as beasts and
the only passion that complete them as human is that they were not actually wolves. Nothing about her
is human except that she is not a wolf (Biblioklept, 2013). Both the story has all the quality of Carter s
writing style which she uses a mixture of basics and sensible fiction to change the conventional
characteristic of the fairy tale style. Angela Carter meaning from the both story is same, that women
should transform the roles and develop into the aggressor instead of the target, she use different
themes to present it and women have the most significant role in her

Empowering Your Organization
Empowering Your Organization
Introduction
Organizations are about people. People are the most valuable asset that an organization can possess to
create success. The development of these people and the ability for an organization to retain talent can
be complex. An organization must be organized to communicate and provide the structure necessary
for growth and development. They must also have the people within the organization understand their
ability to grow and the directions available within the organization for growth.
In the industrial age a company was primarily there to provide goods and serves. Many organizational
behaviorists at that time focused on getting the most production from the employee. ... Show more

A great example of this is in losing weight many people choose to go on a quick fix diet plan. This is a
wonderful way to reduce the weight in the short term but the person eventually returns to their
previous weight. Change must come from the inside through long term changes in the way that they
think about food and the long term change in diet.
When an organization has the symptoms of disempowerment it is not just from the inability of the
individuals internally but from a dysfunctional mindset within the organization. Therefore the
organization must perform a metamorphose to change the structure of the company and the mindset of
the individuals and management.
There are six values that are an essential part of the framework necessary for change within an
organization. These six values are self responsibility, authentic communication, trust, learning and
growing, interpersonal process skills and caring.
When looking at an organizational level of self responsibility the empowering organization has
individuals that take responsibility for their jobs, team and organization being the way that they need it
to be. This is the opposite of the mindset of victimization and an understanding that changes comes
from each individual within an organization.
If an organization promotes authentic communication it is obvious through

What Is The Reading Response To Towards An Aesthetic Of...
Reading Response to Towards an Aesthetic of Popular Music.
In the Article, Towards an Aesthetic of Popular Music, Simon Frith proposes a new way to look at the
value of popular music. He argues that people listen to music to create a sense of identity, express
feelings, and have a sense of time. Therefore the aesthetic of popular music is how well the music
performs those specific tasks. He then went on to break down how the proposed aethstetic could be
measured using the music itself, voice, and the sense of truth.
To support his argument of identity, feelings, and time he brought in specific facts to illustrate each
point. For the creation of an identity he explained that Irish music is played in Irish pups because it

The Functions Of Language In A Clockwork Orange By Anthony...
The functions of language in the novel A Clockwork Orange and how those functions are achieved in
the film.
The argot in the novella A Clockwork Orange has many functions. Anthony Burgess uses the Nadsat
to alienate the reader, veil the violence and occasionally draw the reader into the action. Although
Burgess uses language to achieve these functions, Stanley Kubrick uses various cinematic techniques
to achieve these functions in the film. This will be further substantiated in the essay.
Anthony Burgess makes use of a fictional register in the novella A Clockwork Orange. In the words of
Dr Branom, Nadsat is described as Odd bits of rhyming slang, a bit of gypsy talk, too. But most of the
roots are Slav. (Burgess, 2011:86). The argot is predominantly based on Russian and ... Show more

It did not take long for the dead bodies to be discovered. Shortly after the clock struck midnight on
June 13, 1994, Nicole and Ron s bodies were found by police following a 911 call they had received
from a passerby ( He could run ). Chicago police examined OJ s hotel room after he had checked out,
finding a bloody towel and bedsheet, as well as a broken glass. OJ s attorney would go on to claim
that Simpson had broken the glass, thus cutting himself when he heard about Nicole s death ( He could
run ). Los Angeles police officers searched Simpson s mansion upon his return to LA and taking him
in for questioning. While investigating the house, police found tennis shoes and a bloody glove. The
officers also noticed a few stains on the driveway and traces of the victims types of blood at OJ s

Away With Murder
How to Get Away with Murder has a multitude of elements that come into play throughout the series.
The series follows a group of law students being mentored by Annalise Keating, a prominent defense
attorney. The group deal with multiple deaths, usually caused by them, by using anything ranging
from their knowledge of the law to hired hitmen to get their way. The repeated theme in the series
exposes the harsh reality of how the local government and the people within are corrupt. A
conscienceless society is a major concept that shapes each character s narcissistic frame of mind
where they will do anything to achieve their own personal goals. Even with all the murders and deceit,
in the end each character seems to accomplish part of their mission. ... Show more content on

This episode really highlights the element s of how corrupt other can be due to how easily the hospital
staff was bribed to forge false medical documents. This just goes to show corruption can transcend the

become desensitized by being unsympathetic toward the shooting they were involved in. They even go
as far as plotting to kill the victim after finding out he is still alive. The students only show concern for
themselves and the people within their group. Oliver Hampton is the only character to openly express
sympathy for the victims. He seems to be a personified version of the other characters conscience.
Early in the series he is not as prevalent because the students have not been introduced to their life of

Thermal Conductivity Of Soil And Rock Classification Manual
Thermal conductivity of soil is defined as the amount of heat passing in unit time through a unit cross
sectional area of soil under a unit temperature gradient in the direction of heat flow. It is measured in
watt per meter per kelvin (W/mk) or also in British thermal unit per foot hour per Fahrenheit
(BTU/ft.hr.°F). Knowing thermal conductivity of ground is very important for many geotechnical
works. During construction of foundation in permafrost ground, to design underground power line
design, for stabilizing ground by freezing, and for utilizing geothermal energy by geothermal heat
system we require knowledge of ground thermal conductivity. Thermal properties of ground are
difficult to measure exactly. Here estimation of thermal conductivity (k) by different approach is
summarized. There are various methods for measuring this parameter including empirical formulas,
laboratory tests, and in situ tests.
Empirical Formula and Soil Classification
Soil and rock classification manual (Salomone et al. 1989) published by international ground source
heat pump association categorizes soil/rock into different groups and typical values to each group are
given. Also, many empirical formulas based on the soil properties (water content, saturation, porosity)
are available for the estimation of k with the accuracy of ±25% in Farouki (1986).

Questions:
1.) Suppose a household product label says it contains NaHCO3. How would you test this material for
the presence of sodium bicarbonate?
a. Add hydrochloric acid to the household product, and if the chemicals began to bubble, once mixed
together, then this would indicate that sodium bicarbonate is present.
2.) You know what color phenolphthalein and BTB turn when testing an acid or a base. Use three
household cleaning products with BTB. Name the items tested and their results:
a. Windex: when combined with BTB this cleaner changed orange, indicating that the cleaner has an

Sweat By Kate Chopin Analysis
Zora Neale Hurston Kate Chopin Poetry is used by writers such as Zora Neale Hurston and Kate
Chopin to express ideas and words through a sense of writing and rhythm that is felt by the poet who
is writing it. Years ago, poets would use poetry as a record of history where they told life events that
was happening or how modern societies were expected to be. The Poetry of this period forms the
immediate background and matrix of their own work, so much so that unless one keeps the later
nineteenth century. (Venuti, The translator s invisibility, 2017.) Each author made poetry different by
changing the tradition and outlook on poetry which is also known as the dead poet s society. Authors
from the past heavily influenced everything that was created in a poem. Sweat written by Zora Neale
Hurston was written during a time period women didn t have an opinion and it was frowned upon to
disagree or go against your husband. This woman in the story over comes the current times cultural
norms. The Awakening written by Kate Chopin, speaks out against societies gender roles and says
women are evolving to hold more than the titles mother and housewife. It was the time of shifting
order and woman gaining more rights than was handed to them. Kate Chopin used her poetry to give
an insight of what limitations she might have encountered in her life as a woman and it explained her
choices she chose to help the reader understand what she may have felt towards the subject during this

In the Vatican Synod the bishops voted a ⅔ majority on how people who were divorced can marry

predetermined results. In the Vatican Synod, they also talked about a more merciful church for
divorced people. For example, they had said that the church will provide spiritual help for those that
were married then divorced and may soon be allowed to be welcomed back into the church. Also,
there was a different setup than previous years in the Vatican Synod. For example, in years before the

different than prior years. For example, in years before this the Vatican Synod was just a discussion of
what they changed, but this year they discussed and voted on laws for the church. In my opinion this
was a good idea so Pope Francis would know why certain people voted for something and try to find
out what affected their decisions. In the Vatican Synod, Pope Francis changed very important laws for
the church. For example, he changed how you can be welcomed back into the church if you were

preserved site because of the formation and rapid movement of the desert sands which covered up the

similar metal deposits dating to approximately the same time have been found in the region, at Ibri, for

of rainfall will cause flash floods in this and surrounding low areas (Genchi, Giardino, and

Sample Extraction Technique Is Necessary For Various Other...
Mel cepstral feature extraction technique is required in some or the other form in most of the latest
speech and speaker recognition system. Here, first samples of speech are splitted into overlapping
frames. Generally the length of frame is 25 ms and frame rate is 10 ms. Each and every frames are
refined by pre emphasis filter which amplifies higher frequencies. Next is to apply windowing so that
Fourier spectrum for each windowing frame is achieved here Hamming window is used. To obtain
vector of log energy, Mel spaced bank of filter is used which varies from 20 to 40 depending upon the
requirement of particular application. The output of which is converted to give cepstral coefficients
using DCT. Initially for computing the feature vector, 12 coefficients are obtained along with one
energy make its 13 cepstral coefficient. The extended MFCC consist of triple differentiation. 1St order
differentiation is known as Delta coefficient is denoted by _D which has 13 delta cepstral coefficients.
2Nd order differentiation is known as Acceleration coefficient is denoted by _A having 13 delta delta
coefficients. 3Rd order differentiation is known as Third order (Triple delta) coefficient is denoted by
_T which again has 13 triple delta coefficients. Its is said that standard MFCC is given by 39 feature

Brunhild because of a potion he was given. Therefore, he agrees to take the form of his friend so
Gunnar can marry Brunhild. Sigurd clearly cares very much about doing the right thing and keeping
the promise he made to Gunnar. In fact, Sigurd makes sure to place his sword between him and
Brunhild when they sleep together. It can be argued that Sigurd was willingly being deceptive towards
Brunhild, but this situation does show Sigurd s inner desire to be honorable by helping others and
fulfilling his promises. Additionally, when Sigurd is able recall the fact that he loves Brunhild, it is his
honor and recognition of the fact that she is someone else s wife that prevents him from acting on his
feelings. Bakaridjan Kone is another example of a hero who takes pride in his moral and ethical code.
He is even willing to die so that he may act in accordance with it. In the myth, Bakaridjan Kone makes
the imprudent decision to boast that I am so strong that if I were to stamp one foot, so much earth
would give way that the entire kingdom of Segu would be swallowed up! But the people would have
nothing to fear, for I could pull out all of Segu with one finger! But if I were to fall into

Of The American Dream And The Wordy Shipmates
American Dreams Lit. Analysis The American dream exists within the minds of individuals, who live
in communities.
We can interpret the ideas of that dream based on the communities themselves. In The Wordy
Shipmates, we follow John Winthrop, Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson and learn their idea of,
and path to the American Dream. In Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl we get to know Harriet s
struggles and how she ultimately achieves her American Dream. In both books, we find out that
achieving the American Dream is much more difficult without the help of family, friends and the
community. I think that both books highlight that sometimes to achieve your dreams you must be
willing to take risks and leave behind what s holding you back. Winthrop and the Puritans left
everything they knew to start the life they wanted to have. Harriet left behind her family and friends to
leave a bad situation and find freedom. The Puritans in Wordy Shipmates have a very important place
in American History.
Winthrop s ideas of Christianity and sticking together as a community helped shape how
America is today. The Puritans even went as far as having their seal from England depicting an Indian
with a message coming from his mouth. The message read come over and help us , the same message
could describe the American foreign policy over the past century or more. From Europe in both world
wars to South Korea and Vietnam to Iraq,

Italian Cuisine and Spaghetti
Nicholas Wicklund
English 100
Mrs. Britt
12/06/11
Mhmmmmmm tastes good! This is a quote from the movie Balls of Fury I have used many times to
describe the most delicious meal on the planet. It is not a very unique meal and almost anybody can
make it. This heavenly meal I am talking about is spaghetti and it is held on a pedestal above all other
foods. I have loved spaghetti ever since I was young, sitting at the dinner table with my fork, twirling
the noodles around and taking the largest bite ever, slurping the seemingly endless noodles off of the
plate. It was always a challenge on these nights to not make a mess with the slippery noodles, the
bouncy meatballs, and most difficult of all, the sauce. The spaghetti sauce was the ... Show more

The American version uses meatballs, which is also frowned upon by our Italian counterparts. A chef
named Massimo Bottura, the so called leader of the angered chefs, and 450 other chefs started a
campaign to stop their cherished meal from being even more transformed (24). They believe ground
beef is the main ingredient and want to save the custom of spaghetti.
Spaghetti has a very precise way of being processed. A pasta factory in Italy shows exactly how goods
are processed into making the perfect spaghetti ingredients. 17 hours. That is how long it takes to
make the noodles, all done by machine. The buildings have clean and pure air to prevent the pasta
from taking in foreign flavors ( Hazelton 1157). Sheets of the dough are rolled, flattened, cut, pushed
through scores of teflon lined molds and put into wire trays to dry (Hazelton 1158). It always has to be
watched and just the right amounts of ingredients have to be mixed together because too much or too
little could devastate the flavor.
The Italian way of making the noodles are better because it holds together better in cooking and will
not mush (1158). Italians use wheat flour that is higher in gluten than what Americans use, making
their noodles more durable. The noodles can come out in forms like straight or twisted, long or short,
smooth or ridged, and in different shapes like stars, tubes, animals, and angel hair. There is also

The Statue Of Liberty Analysis
The Statue of Liberty has a greater significance that cannot be seen so blatantly. While at first it may
just seem that this monument is not that complex, but with a deeper analysis many new and surprising
emblematic meanings arise. While analyzing this monument we can see how the text correlates with
the changing of its meaning. We can also see how the physical embodiment of the Statue plays a
major role in affecting the viewers in multiple ways. The monument appeals to a lot of ethnicities that
have been included in its history. The text on the Statue of Liberty may be one of the most vital parts
of the monument. Inside the pedestal there is a sonnet written by American poet Emma Lazarus. This
sonnet was originally made to raise funds for the Statue but officials and the public realized the impact
it had and decided to include it in the monument in 1903. The sonnet is called The New Colossus and
is directed to immigrants arriving through Ellis island. It includes statements and words like world
wide welcome and Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free . The
Statue of Liberty was a symbol of welcoming and new life for many immigrants which came from all
over the world. Many of these immigrants were escaping from famines that ravished their countries or
many governments, especially in Europe, did not provide the same economical opportunities as the
United States did, hence the sonnet receiving any new populace who wanted to have a

Cheerleading Research Paper
Considering cheerleading was a big part of my life, cheer bows were a must. However, ordering them
online is kind of expensive, so I learned to make my own. Eventually, after I got pretty good at it,
people asked me where I got my bow, and immediately they wanted one. So now I have my own
hobby/business called Em s Unique Bowtique. I have made bows for individuals, babies, as well as
teams such as color guard, marching band, and high school and middle school cheer teams.
I also really love to volunteer because it makes such a difference in the community. That being said,
although we only had to volunteer forty five hours to graduate I definitely went above that just
because it was so much fun. I usually like to volunteer local more than nationwide

credibility on the subject matter they are writing about. Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, written by
Amy Chua, was a story of Chua herself and her encounterance of different parenting styles. In her
novel, Chua claimed that Chinese parenting was the most effective style and disapproved the Western
style. To established the credibility of her book, Amy Chua experienced the parenting style herself,
enforced it on her daughters, collected stories from others, and did some research on the topic. By
having Chinese immigrant parents, Amy Chua had a firsthand experience of the Chinese parenting.
She was demanded excellence in everything that she did, but despite these demanding expectations,
Amy Chua was proud and even found strength and confidence in her peculiar family (Chua 17).
Seeing how positively Chinese parenting affected her, Chua decided to use the method on her two
daughters, but it backfired on her. I HATE my life. I HATE you, and I HATE this family, screamed
Lulu, her youngest daughter, as she desperately tried to make Chua stop all her controlling (Chua

Adam Smith
Adam Smith was a Scottish political economist and moral philosopher, who studied moral philosophy
at Oxford University and University of Glasgow. Smith is considered by many to be the founding
father of economics and the first free market capitalist. In fact, in many ways his philosophies and
theories have helped shape our country and our economy into what it is today. Smith introduced us to
the invisible hand theory which referred to the free markets. The invisible hand theory stated that
ultimately when people were left able to pursue their best interests, meaning that they were able to
pursue work that made them happy and that enabled them to command the highest wage for
themselves or when entrepreneurs were able to provide good ... Show more content on

Adam Smith s ideas are very much relevant today. However, with recent events in today s economy, it
s obvious that some of the practices that worked previously need some serious revision to work in
today s world. There was a recent market crisis in early 2008, mainly because of the way that the
markets were being run and the lack of transparency. Smith s theories held that there is no need for
government involvement, but clearly lack of government involvement in this case was simply not an
option and would have lead to an even more chaotic situation. Smith s theories were a great
foundation and a lot of the ways in which we live today are based on these theories. It s evident in our
ever growing society, in the many professions that people work in and the number of new businesses
being created.
With that said, even though Smith s theories are still relevant, with the changing times and society, the
way the markets are handled will need to be improved. This will probably mean more government
involvement at many levels to ensure and promote transparency. As the world continues to change and
as new challenges are faced, there will definitely be the need for a new way of thinking to be applied
to smith s ideas
In conclusion, Smith s ideas were and still are very instrumental to our society and the way that the
free markets are run. Since Adam Smith s ideas and theories have outlasted those of any other
economist,

One such Act was the draconian Town and Country Planning Act 1926, which was used to remove Maori from their traditional settlements to blend with Pakeha culture. The aim of which was to provide the pakeha with enough land to do the farming. Consequently, Maori were forced to leave behind their traditional world in the name of urbanisation causing separation of Maori from Maori. Accept otherness, and give confidence the other to do so because everyone is intelligent to find pleasure and live contently even though the views of society may enjoy. According to Carter feminism does not mean a dominating sex, but equal opportunity between genders, as each is equal within creation. Carter influences the reader the danger of women being deceived and captured by the false form of men. This idea is totally differing in Wolf Alice it is women who are obtainable as beasts and the only passion that complete them as human is that they were not actually wolves. Nothing about her is human except that she is not a wolf (Biblioklept, 2013). Both the story has all the quality of Carter s writing style which she uses a mixture of basics and sensible fiction to change the conventional characteristic of the fairy tale style. The development of these people and the ability for an organization to retain talent can be complex. An organization must be organized to communicate and provide the structure necessary for growth and development. They must also have the people within the organization understand their ability to grow and the directions available within the organization for growth. This is a wonderful way to reduce the weight in the short term but the person eventually returns to their previous weight. Change must come from the inside through long term changes in the way that they think about food and the long term change in diet. When an organization has the symptoms of disempowerment it is not just from the inability of the individuals internally but from a dysfunctional mindset within the organization. Therefore the organization must perform a metamorphose to change the structure of the company and the mindset of the individuals and management. There are six values that are an essential part of the framework necessary for change within an organization. These six values are self responsibility, authentic communication, trust, learning and growing, interpersonal process skills and caring. When looking at an organizational level of self responsibility the empowering organization has individuals that take responsibility for their jobs, team and organization being the way that they need it to be. This is the opposite of the mindset of victimization and an understanding that changes comes from each individual within an organization. In the Article, Towards an Aesthetic of Popular Music, Simon Frith proposes a new way to look at the value of popular music. He argues that people listen to music to create a sense of identity, express feelings, and have a sense of time. Therefore the aesthetic of popular music is how well the music performs those specific tasks. He then went on to break down how the proposed aethstetic could be measured using the music itself, voice, and the sense of truth. To support his argument of identity, feelings, and time he brought in specific facts to illustrate each point. The argot in the novella A Clockwork Orange has many functions. Anthony Burgess uses the Nadsat to alienate the reader, veil the violence and occasionally draw the reader into the action. Although Burgess uses language to achieve these functions, Stanley Kubrick uses various cinematic techniques to achieve these functions in the film. This will be further substantiated in the essay. Anthony Burgess makes use of a fictional register in the novella A Clockwork Orange. In the words of Dr Branom, Nadsat is described as Odd bits of rhyming slang, a bit of gypsy talk, too. • 27. Thermal Conductivity Of Soil And Rock Classification Manual Thermal conductivity of soil is defined as the amount of heat passing in unit time through a unit cross sectional area of soil under a unit temperature gradient in the direction of heat flow. It is measured in watt per meter per kelvin (W/mk) or also in British thermal unit per foot hour per Fahrenheit (BTU/ft.hr.°F). Knowing thermal conductivity of ground is very important for many geotechnical works. During construction of foundation in permafrost ground, to design underground power line design, for stabilizing ground by freezing, and for utilizing geothermal energy by geothermal heat system we require knowledge of ground thermal conductivity. Thermal properties of ground are difficult to measure exactly. Here estimation of thermal conductivity (k) by different approach is summarized. There are various methods for measuring this parameter including empirical formulas, laboratory tests, and in situ tests. Empirical Formula and Soil Classification Soil and rock classification manual (Salomone et al. 1989) published by international ground source heat pump association categorizes soil/rock into different groups and typical values to each group are given. Also, many empirical formulas based on the soil properties (water content, saturation, porosity) are available for the estimation of k with the accuracy of ±25% in Farouki (1986). Mel cepstral feature extraction technique is required in some or the other form in most of the latest speech and speaker recognition system. Here, first samples of speech are splitted into overlapping frames. Generally the length of frame is 25 ms and frame rate is 10 ms. Each and every frames are refined by pre emphasis filter which amplifies higher frequencies. Next is to apply windowing so that Fourier spectrum for each windowing frame is achieved here Hamming window is used. To obtain vector of log energy, Mel spaced bank of filter is used which varies from 20 to 40 depending upon the requirement of particular application. The output of which is converted to give cepstral coefficients using DCT. Initially for computing the feature vector, 12 coefficients are obtained along with one energy make its 13 cepstral coefficient. In Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl we get to know Harriet s struggles and how she ultimately achieves her American Dream. • 42. Italian Cuisine and Spaghetti Nicholas Wicklund English 100 Mrs. Britt 12/06/11 Mhmmmmmm tastes good! This is a quote from the movie Balls of Fury I have used many times to describe the most delicious meal on the planet. It is not a very unique meal and almost anybody can make it. This heavenly meal I am talking about is spaghetti and it is held on a pedestal above all other foods. I have loved spaghetti ever since I was young, sitting at the dinner table with my fork, twirling the noodles around and taking the largest bite ever, slurping the seemingly endless noodles off of the plate. It was always a challenge on these nights to not make a mess with the slippery noodles, the bouncy meatballs, and most difficult of all, the sauce. The spaghetti sauce was the ... A chef named Massimo Bottura, the so called leader of the angered chefs, and 450 other chefs started a campaign to stop their cherished meal from being even more transformed (24). They believe ground beef is the main ingredient and want to save the custom of spaghetti. Spaghetti has a very precise way of being processed. A pasta factory in Italy shows exactly how goods are processed into making the perfect spaghetti ingredients. 17 hours. That is how long it takes to make the noodles, all done by machine. The buildings have clean and pure air to prevent the pasta from taking in foreign flavors ( Hazelton 1157). Sheets of the dough are rolled, flattened, cut, pushed through scores of teflon lined molds and put into wire trays to dry (Hazelton 1158). It always has to be watched and just the right amounts of ingredients have to be mixed together because too much or too little could devastate the flavor. The Italian way of making the noodles are better because it holds together better in cooking and will not mush (1158). Italians use wheat flour that is higher in gluten than what Americans use, making their noodles more durable. The noodles can come out in forms like straight or twisted, long or short, smooth or ridged, and in different shapes like stars, tubes, animals, and angel hair. There is also ... • 43. The Statue Of Liberty Analysis The Statue of Liberty has a greater significance that cannot be seen so blatantly. While at first it may just seem that this monument is not that complex, but with a deeper analysis many new and surprising emblematic meanings arise. While analyzing this monument we can see how the text correlates with the changing of its meaning. We can also see how the physical embodiment of the Statue plays a major role in affecting the viewers in multiple ways. The monument appeals to a lot of ethnicities that have been included in its history. The text on the Statue of Liberty may be one of the most vital parts of the monument. Inside the pedestal there is a sonnet written by American poet Emma Lazarus. This sonnet was originally made to raise funds for the Statue but officials and the public realized the impact it had and decided to include it in the monument in 1903. The sonnet is called The New Colossus and is directed to immigrants arriving through Ellis island. It includes statements and words like world wide welcome and Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free . The Statue of Liberty was a symbol of welcoming and new life for many immigrants which came from all over the world. Many of these immigrants were escaping from famines that ravished their countries or many governments, especially in Europe, did not provide the same economical opportunities as the United States did, hence the sonnet receiving any new populace who wanted to have a ... • 45. Cheerleading Research Paper Considering cheerleading was a big part of my life, cheer bows were a must. However, ordering them online is kind of expensive, so I learned to make my own. Eventually, after I got pretty good at it, people asked me where I got my bow, and immediately they wanted one. So now I have my own hobby/business called Em s Unique Bowtique. I have made bows for individuals, babies, as well as teams such as color guard, marching band, and high school and middle school cheer teams. • 47. Adam Smith Adam Smith was a Scottish political economist and moral philosopher, who studied moral philosophy at Oxford University and University of Glasgow. Smith is considered by many to be the founding father of economics and the first free market capitalist. In fact, in many ways his philosophies and theories have helped shape our country and our economy into what it is today. Smith introduced us to the invisible hand theory which referred to the free markets. The invisible hand theory stated that ultimately when people were left able to pursue their best interests, meaning that they were able to pursue work that made them happy and that enabled them to command the highest wage for themselves or when entrepreneurs were able to provide good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Adam Smith s ideas are very much relevant today. However, with recent events in today s economy, it s obvious that some of the practices that worked previously need some serious revision to work in today s world. There was a recent market crisis in early 2008, mainly because of the way that the markets were being run and the lack of transparency. Smith s theories held that there is no need for government involvement, but clearly lack of government involvement in this case was simply not an option and would have lead to an even more chaotic situation. Smith s theories were a great foundation and a lot of the ways in which we live today are based on these theories. It s evident in our ever growing society, in the many professions that people work in and the number of new businesses being created. With that said, even though Smith s theories are still relevant, with the changing times and society, the way the markets are handled will need to be improved. This will probably mean more government involvement at many levels to ensure and promote transparency. As the world continues to change and as new challenges are faced, there will definitely be the need for a new way of thinking to be applied to smith s ideas In conclusion, Smith s ideas were and still are very instrumental to our society and the way that the free markets are run. Since Adam Smith s ideas and theories have outlasted those of any other economist, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
