Understanding And Managing Recreational Fisheries Within A...
Fishing is often seen as a recreational escape from work or daily routines, as it also meets the basic
human needs of nutrition. In the report, Illustrating the critical role of human dimensions research for
understanding and managing recreational fisheries within a social ecological system framework, by
Hunt et al., we look more closely at the management of recreational fisheries in relation to the fishers
themselves, and how it may influence the outcomes of the fisheries ecological systems. In turn we see
critical connections between the ecological and social systems, which give us great feedback on a
recreational fisher s actions and how we can better manage those actions. In the report they focus on
the coupling of fisher s behaviors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These give the researchers better information in regards to the connections and feedback between the
natural and human components of the recreational fisheries system management. In terms of
recreational fishing, using human dimensions research provides information about a fisher s
preference, behavior, attitude and wellbeing when it comes to the support of fisheries management.
Taking an in depth study of the fisher s views and opinions on policy and management issues can
better illustrate how fishers make choices for pursuing fishing among sites that may differ greatly in
their regulations and many other attributes. Being able to understand a fisher s evaluations on a wide
scale will better help human dimensions researchers interpret and predict their future behaviors, which
has become an important area of enquiry. Before, human dimensions researchers studied a small scale
of fishers and did not account for diversity; the new studies being conducted do the exact opposite.
L.M. Hunt et al. look at the fisher s evaluations in a much broader aspect. By taking a deeper study
into understanding fishers and what prompts their actions will better allow human dimension
researchers and biologists to make connections between the fishers and fish, whereas they would
otherwise solely focus on the fisheries biology. The

Essay on Microeconomics and the Board Game Monopoly
All I ever needed to know about microeconomics I learned from the Hasbro board game Monopoly.
Some people, like myself, need practical models in order to understand certain concepts and theories.
In our text book The Economy Today it completely ignores the intrinsic value of business decisions
because you can t put a numeric value on it. The game Monopoly™ is all about the numbers. In the
game of Monopoly™ you have goals: The object is to bankrupt all opponents. To do so, you must be
dedicated and make each decision with the aim of improving your chances and wiping out your
opponents. (Monopoly) In what I will call throughout the paper real life, the goal is the same. Look at
the excerpt from an ABC New article called The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Know when to cause a building shortage If you have only low rent color groups, quickly build three or
four houses per property to restrict the availability of houses to owners of high rent color groups.
Never move up to a hotel anywhere if the return of houses to the bank would enable an opponent to
develop an expensive color group. (Example: the Yellow group has just been formed. There are only
three houses in the bank, but six hotels. You own the light blues with four houses on each. Do not buy
hotels. Doing so would give the player owning the Yellows an opportunity to build up to hotels on
them.) (Monopoly.com)
By buying up the houses you are creating a barrier to entry. It is a barrier even if your opponent has
the necessary funds to enter. This is because of the basic economic principal of scarce resources, or as
Stephen Slavin calls it in Economics Control over essential resource. (Slavin 541)
The game Monopoly is a prime illustration of scarce resources; that is, There s a limit to the amount
we can produce in a given time with available resources. (Schiller 9) The property is limited Nothing

Early Anthropogenic Hypothesis Essay
Did humankind prevent the start of an ice age during the Holocene? Discuss arguments for and against
the Early Anthropogenic Hypothesis.
The Holocene Epoch is the timescale given to the last 11,700 years of earth s history, beginning at the
end of the last ice age. (BD Smith et al, 2013) Therefore it can be noted as being a relatively warm
period in history in comparison to other scales of time from the past. The Early Anthropogenic
Hypothesis is an idea put forward by Professor William F Ruddiman from the University of Virginia
which states that the effects of human induced greenhouse gas emissions did not occur simply since
the industrial era, but may well have been kick started many thousands of years before this, closer to
the start of the Holocene. By which may have prevented the start of an ice age during this timescale.
However there are many views ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This coincides with Ruddiman s belief of CO2 levels increasing due to human activity. There is a clear
pattern between the rise in industrial activity and the rise in CO2 levels. Since the industrial revolution
(1750 1900) there was a rapid rise in levels of CO2 being created and emitted into the atmosphere. As
a consequence, this saw a rise in the CO2 levels from 270ppm to roughly 310ppm by the 1950 s,
which increased again in the following 30 years by 70ppm, after the initiation of the Great
Acceleration of industry (W Steffen et al, 2007). Non coincidentally the Little Ice Age which occurred
during the Holocene ended at around 1800, shortly after the beginning of the Industrial revolution.
(Richard Prentice) This shows a clear correlation between the increase of CO2 levels and human
activity. Although this is most certainly in more recent times, it still provides clear evidence to suggest
that Ruddiman was correct in his belief that human activity causes CO2 rise and therefore has the
potential to prevent the start of an ice

Smoking Informative Research Paper
5 million people die from smoking annually, along with 600,000 affected by second hand smoke.
Smoking leads to more deaths than guns and texting while driving. Cigarettes main ingredient,
tobacco, has over 4,000 chemicals, 51 of them known to cause cancer. When someone begins to
smoke most of the time there s no turning back, as quitting is very difficult. The nicotine in cigarettes
forces you to become addicted to smoking and the more you consume, the more you you feel
uncomfortable when quitting. This is what makes cigarettes so dangerous. I think cigarettes are the
most harmful invention because it slowly kills the user, but most importantly hurts innocent bypassers.
First of all, smoking causes too many deaths, more than Illegal drug

Personal Narrative Letter Essay
Wolliso, Ethiopia, June 1997
Around 9:30 on the day I am to leave for a three day respite in Addis Ababa I try to mail my letter to
Maureen at the post office. I do this, rather than carrying the letter with me to the city to mail, even
though letters from Wolliso can take days to reach Addis Ababa. Perhaps I just want to get to know
Wolliso better, and it is rumored that the woman who runs the one room, one desk, one drawer post
office has lived in the States and speaks impeccable English.
The door to the post office is locked, but through the slats I can see that someone is inside and I can

runner, has just been in a car accident in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hope was so tangible that even the foreign community was living in a heightened sense of
anticipation. The hard part for me today is that the memories of those heady early days of hope are
tinged with the reality of the carnage that followed. I will always remember that night in 1974 when
hope turned to fear with the execution of former Prime Minister Endelkachew Makonnen and
members of his government. For the past 20 years, I have tried to put to rest that time and those events
that fascination with danger, with living in places of great risk. In Ethiopia, danger and risk were
coupled with a tinge of guilt: That as a foreigner, I was not a target of the revolution; that I got off
easy and therefore must continually prove if only to myself that I am not a coward; that I will not run
from danger as I had by leaving my friends behind, friends who disappeared in the night.
So I thought that by returning to Ethiopia to take a three month contract job with the Peace Corps to
train a new group of volunteers, I might finally close the door on that haunting time. It would be
simple. I would return to my old house on Bishoftu Road in Addis Ababa, where I lived at the height
of the revolution. If the house had remained gleaming white and the lilac colored

Persuasive Essay On Space Mountain
It was our first trip to Disney World, and we were visiting what I thought, was the scariest ride in the
world. I thought that certain ride was scary, because ever since I was five I would always throw up on
the roller coasters, or even car rides. I hated roller coasters ever since I threw up. I thought to myself,
This is Disney World we re talking about, I have to go on this ride, I need this. I promised myself I
would go on every single ride here. I will get over this fear. After that thought I looked at my dad, as
he was already planning on going on this ride. The ride was called Space Mountain, I was told that
people with motion sickness shouldn t go on the ride, but that won t stop me. I ve also been told it is a
pretty cool and fun ride, so that is another reason why I m going on Space Mountain. Daddy, I told
him. I wanna go on Space Mountain. I felt so confident in that one moment of my life. My mom gives
me a look. Peanut, you shouldn t go on that ride, you will get sick and puke. She says. I look back at
my mom then my dad. My dad whispers something into her ear as my mom turns to me and hands me
a doggie bag.
Use this just in case you puke. She says. Have fun sweetie, my mom says softly. My dad takes my
hand and tells me he is proud of me, he leads me to Space Mountain.
As soon as I looked up, I felt sick, the structure and ride was so big. I didn t know that I could do it,
but I had to, I couldn t chicken out in front my Dad. After all I already told him I would go. We
walked into Space Mountain, there were lights everywhere we looked. I started to jump up and down,
I started to get excited for once about a roller coaster, I felt so proud of myself, I would actually get a
chance to ride a roller coaster again! I felt scared, and I also felt so happy and proud of myself at the
same time. My Mom and brother chickened out on going, so I felt so alive, and mature to be riding
such a big ride. I looked at the line, there were no people, we were early! Come on Daddy, there are
more people coming behind us! Behind me and my dad, were a big group of people walking in, we
wanted first in front of the, so I ran and dashed through the aisle, the lights lit up

Comparison Of Blackboard Jungle And Rebel Without A Cause
Seeing a drastic shift of teenage culture within a decade is mesmerizing. After watching these two
movies I believe that there is a clear difference in how the teenage culture has shifted within a small
amount of time. The similarities between Blackboard Jungle and Rebel Without a Cause were that in
both movies the teenagers fit the stereotype of acting out of line. The difference is the, type of sound
track, different take on the youth movement. In Blackboard Jungle the sound track portrays a type of
rebellion mentality while in the movie Rebel Without a Cause there is an unknown type of mentality.
A contemporary example of these movies that have been made in recent years would be Step Up 2 The

In the movie Blackboard Jungle the sound track portrays a type of rebellion mentality while in the
movie Rebel Without a Cause there is an unknown type of mentality. The song that was playing in the
beginning of the movie Blackboard Jungle was called Rock around the Clock by Bill Haley. Because
of the up tempo beat and the lyrics it reminded me of a rebellion type of music. The song talks about
rocking around the clock so I can imagine the teenagers in the movie breaking the teachers records
while causing mad hysteria in the classroom. In the movie Rebel Without a Cause the song was more
an unknown type of mentality. When I heard the song at the beginning of the movie I didn t know
where the song was going to go for instance if the beat was going to increase or slow down. This
correlated in the movie because the main character Jim is used to leaving every time he makes a
mistake. On the other hand, this time he decides to stay and do the right thing. I think this shows that
there is still hope for the youth culture because they are able to realize their own mistakes without
parents. However, there was a belief that teenagers were a separate class they assumed that they were
separate and unequal. It s neat to see that rock n roll played a roll into the growing division. Rock n
roll helped separate and define their class in the USA. It helped merge the

The Impact Of Internet On East Asian Countries
The Concept of Internet Technology: An Analysis of Efficiency, Benefits and Hindrances of Internet
coverage across Sub Saharan Africa and East Asian Countries. The internet provides a way for us to
connect and communicate with each other across various political and economic boundaries. Since its
inception couple of decades ago, we as humans have found doing certain things such as
communication, transportation and business aspects of our lives pretty easy than we did in the past.
The internet has improved various aspects in our community such as health, infrastructure, business
and education. But in this paper, I am going to explore the impacts the internet in particular as a form
of media technology has on East Asian Countries and its possible benefits for Sub Saharan Africa
region in the area of politics. I also tend to analyse the competence of the internet in enhancing the
political processes of Thailand and its probable benefits for a country like Nigeria ridiculed with
poverty brought about by immense corruption. As we all know the internet as a form of technology
has its advantages as well as disadvantages in structuring our society this also is an aspect that would
be examined in this paper. At the end of this paper I hope to establish a point that the introduction of
highly effective internet services across Sub Saharan countries in Africa would increase its rate of
globalization in this present age, where technology is an integral factor for development. The

International Law And International Legal Theory
Since its beginning, the conflict in Eastern Ukraine has raised legal issues that get to the core of
International Law and international legal theory. In particular, the debate among legal experts has
focused on the question of secession, the right to self determination of people, and the respect of the
territorial integrity of States. The main concern of the scholarship has been to identify the political and
legal consequences of a secession of Ukraine s eastern territories and the possible violations of
International Law that would occur in such a situation. A less investigated aspect of the conflict is the
chance to find a legal solution to the hostilities, seeking to cease violence among the parties and to
settle the dispute under the aegis of the UN. This goal may be achieved with the deployment of UN
peacekeeping forces. The idea of a peacekeeping operation in Eastern Ukraine is advanced following
the requests sent to the UN by the Ukrainian Government in the last two years. In particular, on 4
January 2016 the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN has called for a UN peacekeeping
mission in the region of Donbas. Previously, on 14 April 2014 and on 23 February 2015, other two
requests were filed for the deployment of UN peacekeeping forces in the territory of Eastern Ukraine.
In these last two requests reference was made to the possibility to have the European Union involved

The Company s Attrition Rate Essay
III. Staffing Strategy The company s attrition rate is steadily rising. Even with the higher attrition rate,
the marketing and sales teams continue to push sales in an expanding market. Due to higher demand,
the output needs to be heavily increased. All of these factors have lead Motors and More Inc. to look
into what their exact hiring needs are across the organization. Motors and More Inc. does not currently
have a HR department to assist with any of the hiring requirements, including planning, recruiting.
Having a recruiting team that can build a relationship with the technical school and community
college in the area will help draw qualified talent. It will also help to diversify the employee pool, by
reaching out to a growing population of Kurdish and Hispanic in the area. The department will also
help in the aid of having a career succession plan in place when attrition occurs for each level of
employee from entry level up through senior management. Core Competencies Research suggests that
some individuals may be 20 times more productive than others. Clearly, any CEO would welcome as
many of these individuals into an organization as could be mass produced. Matching individual
competencies with job competency models puts individuals in positions where they can contribute

The Importance Of A Musician And A Fine Artist
Two careers that the Focus 2 Assessment claims would be a satisfactory fit for me include a musician
and a fine artist. For both of these occupations, I would be more than willing to deliberate about taking
up either of them in the future, taking into consideration that I am currently a performing musician. I
also have plentiful experience in the visual arts as well, so I could imagine being a fine artist as well.
Both jobs include doing things I enjoy to a great extent. A musician is an individual who typically
plays an instrument, but numerous musicians may also compose music, direct ensembles, or teach.
Demand in musician positions is expected to grow by about 5% until 2022, which is slower than the
average growth for other occupations. Musicians need continuous training to maintain skills,
knowledge, and the ability to interpret music. Much of this training can be achieved through colleges,
universities, and musical conservatories. Typically, this training culminates in a variety of bachelor
degrees, including Music Education, Music Performance, and Music Business. Participation in some
sort of musical ensemble is pertinent while studying to become a musician. Skills that are typically
required of musicians include troubleshooting, experience in the performing arts, manual dexterity,
managing time, listening, and decision making. The salary for musicians is typically around $45,000 a
year. However, this can vary between musicians due to short term contracts or working

Essay Comparing Counter Attack and the Soldier
Comparing The Soldier and Counter Attack
At the beginning of the century two ideas prevailed about what war was like; it was either heroic or
mere butchery. These ideas are represented in the 2 poems The Soldier by Rupert Brookes and
Counter Attack by Siegfried Sassoon.
Rupert Brooke (1887 1915) was an accomplished poet in WW1. Unlike Sassoon, Brooke never fought
at the front line, but joined the Mediterranean Navy where he died of a mosquito bite. Rupert Brooke
expressed his feelings about war (war being a heroic act) through poems such as The Soldier where he
talks about the solemnity of the soldier and represented war as the ultimate sacrifice and honourable
act for your country. Siegfried Sassoon (1887 1967), however, was a ... Show more content on

Whereas, Brooke s The Soldier glorifies death, emphasises the greatness of England and shows
soldiers are proud to be English and fighting for her sights and sounds .
WE D gained our first objective hours before , is the first line in Counter Attack . The personal pro
noun WE D is emphasised in the poem telling the reader that THEY (him and the soldiers) have
accomplished their objective and could imply that the generals or people in higher command have not.
This sends a message to the reader that generals do not accomplish tasks/objectives. Adding to this, by
describing the soldiers as Pallid, unshaved and thirsty tells the reader that they are lacking in, colour,
spirit or intensity. This conveys the message that soldiers are not happy or proud to be in the war. On
the contrary, Brooke uses personification; gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given
which helps to convey the message that he is proud to be in the war. In addition, Counter Attack
portrays death to be of mere importance and not elegant dead green clumsy legs . Green and clumsy
presents death as not glorious but mere butchery. By Contrast, Rupert Brooke describes his dead body
as A richer dust concealed which portrays death as an experience to cherish and not to fear. Finally,
Rupert Brooke uses words such as: CORNER of a foreign field , richer dust CONCEALED and body
of ENGLAND to convey the message that there were many soldiers who died

The Importance Of Growth Mindset In Education
In today s education, educators encourage students to endorse a growth mindset for their learning. A
growth mindset is when someone believes that their intelligence can be developed through hard work
and dedication. A fixed mindset is when students believe that they can not develop intelligence rather
they are smart or not. In the United States education system, the US is struggling to keep pace with
other countries student academic achievements. In the article, Leveraging Mindsets to Promote
Academic Achievement: Policy recommendations , the authors state, Academic mindsets are powerful
when implemented correctly: they can left grades and motivation, particularly among struggling
students, and they can reduce racial, gender, and social class achievement gaps. Growth mindsets are
praised in the education communities because it s reflects high results of studies that show that student
raise their grades and intelligence through persevering through hard work. Students who adopt a
growth mindset, will further develop their intelligence and achieve academic goals
Many people believe praising students for their intelligence will boost their confidence and motivation
to learn but praising students does the complete opposite. When students are praised about their
intelligence, it gives them pride for a short amount of time and stops students from continuing to push
themselves to learn more. In a studied conducted by Carol S Dweck in The Perils and promises of

argument that America has the responsibilities of helping Iraq and leaving Iraq to Iraqis. The
refutation occurs when he acknowledges nine eleven and how it led to reactions that were against
traditional belief and made the promise to take troops out of Iraq by 2012. He also makes the promise
to have Guantanamo Bay closed. These promises were big promises that received great attention. I
consider the promise Obama made about bringing all troops back from Iraq by 2012 to be one of the
most impactful promises that he made as a president because it affects nearly everyone s family and
friends in the United States. The next part that is about the issue of Palestinians and Israelis. He brings

Appellate Power Vs Supreme Court
First of all, it is important to distinguish that the appellate and discretionary powers belonging to the
Supreme Court are two separate powers. The appellate power is the power of a higher court to reverse
or uphold the ruling of a lower court. The Supreme court is the highest court and thus takes more
appeals cases than trial cases. This is due to the limited original jurisdiction of The Supreme Court.
Unless the case is between two states, involves the United States as a party, or involves a
representative of a foreign nation the U.S. Supreme Court lacks original jurisdiction. The Supreme
Court also has limited appellate jurisdiction. The Court can only hear a case if a federal question is
presented, The United States federal government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Allowing for appeals to the highest court allows for important decisions to be made that set precedent
for the rest of the courts. It also allows for errors made in the lower court to be corrected. The
appellate jurisdiction that The Supreme Court holds is granted by The Constitution. In Article III of
the preamble The Supreme Court is only limited by the discretion of Congress. In a way this power
has more checks in place than the discretionary powers. One major critic of the appellate power of The
Supreme Court is that it allows for lower courts to be invalidated. This can lead to less faith in the
lower courts and thus undermines the power of the overall judicial system. Another problem with the
appeals process is the amount of useless litigation that results from the ability to appeal. The Supreme
Court does not often overturn decisions made by the lower courts and thus most of the cases brought
to The Court take up time and resources that might be better used. The process of appeals for the
Supreme Court solves some of this problem, but does not completely mitigate it. The review process
used by The Supreme Court is highly effective and ensures only cases that need the decision of The
Supreme Court reach the justices. As such, the appellate powers of The Supreme Court have few
issues and serve an important function in the Judicial

Comparison Of The Hundred Year s War Between England And...
There are many events that took place between England and France that built up to what is known as
the Hundred Year s War. William of Normandy s conquest of the duchy of Aquitaine allowed England
to have claim over lands in France. This increased tension between the English king, Edward III, and
the French king, Phillip VI, that would inevitably create a war that lasted one hundred and sixteen
years (Fiero 175).
King Edward III maintained that he held claim to the French throne. When Edward III was only
fifteen years old, Charles IV of France died without a male heir. This left the succession of the French
throne to Edward III through his mother Isabella, sister to Charles IV and daughter of Phillip VI.

Stroke Prevention
Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States (National Stroke Association, 2010).
Stroke is also a leading cause of disability. Approximately every 40 seconds someone in the United
States has a stroke which is about 795,000 per year (National stroke Association, 2010). The incidence
of stroke makes it a major health problem in the United States. Prevention and early intervention is the
key to reducing death and disability from stroke. Cost effective prevention strategies are needed for
the delivery of stroke awareness and prevention. A priority of our health care system should be to
educate the community about stroke risk factors and stroke warning signs to decrease potential death

Non modifiable risk factors for stroke are age, gender, race and ethnicity, and family history. The risk
for stroke doubles every 10 years after the age of 55 (Rosamound et al., 2007). African Americans
older than age 65 have two to five times the risk of stroke compared with Caucasian adults of a similar
age (Hylek et al., 2006). Hispanics have a higher incidence of stroke than Caucasians (Stroke
Association, 2010). According to the National Stroke Association (2010), approximately 55,000 more
women than men have a stroke each year. The target audience for this project will be people age 55 or
older. All individuals may take part in this program regardless of age. Stroke warning signs are an
important component in educating the community. Stroke warning signs include sudden paralysis,
weakness or numbness in the face, arm, or leg; sudden blurred or decreased vision in one or both eyes;
difficulty speaking or understanding simple statements; dizziness; loss of balance or loss of
coordination; and sudden intense headache (National Stroke Association, 2010). Decreasing the time
from stroke onset to hospital presentation depends on the stroke knowledge of the community. The act
F.A.S.T. (Face, Arms, Speech, and Time) campaign promoted by the National Stroke Association is a
great way to educate the public on what to do if someone is having a stroke. The acronym prompts

The Role Of Clothes In The Victorian Era
Victorian Dress Alexander Mcqueen once said, It s an era in fashion There are no rules. It s all about
the individual and personal style, wearing high end, low end, classic labels, and up designers together.
In the Victorian Era there was a lot going on especially for the rich. If you were rich you had
glamorous tea parties and nice clothes, shoes, hair, makeup and everything else that rian had to do with
your body. If you were poor you did not have the glamorous lifestyle or clothes.
Women in the Victorian Era women dressed very extravagant. There were all kinds of different clothes
and things that mattered because of your wealth. The rich woman would wear huge dresses. They
sometimes would wear a wooden skirt under there dress to make the round shape. They would also
wear corsets that they would tie super tight. These corsets would make their waist very small; because
men liked the skinny waist in a woman. Over the corsets and hooped skirts they would pull over a
dress. Some dresses may of been made out of lace, silk,or ruffles. Women would wear very humble
clothing. All the dresses were very out there they had very well stitching and hard work paid into it.

stock market crash Essay
The Stock Market crash of 1929 has been looked at as the greatest symbol of depression is our
countries history. Although the Stock Market crashing had a huge effect on the beginning of the Great
Depression, there are still factors to consider when looking for a source to blame. It s hard to put
responsibility on the stock market for something so huge and disheartening. The Great Depression is
seen as a slippery road downward, not a sudden jolt into hopelessness.
The Stock Market in the 1920 s had consistently seen prices climb over the last few years. By the fall
of 1929 the prices of stock were severely overpriced and unaffordable. When stockholders saw the
severity in the prices they all panicked and began ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The banking system of the 1920 s is not what it should have been. Today we have insurance on the
money we put in the bank, so if that bank should go under, we can still have our money. This was not
the case in the 20 s. If your bank closed, and many of them did, you lost all the money you had saved.
No one could help you and many families ended up on the street due to this loss.
Bread lines were now crowded as people tried any way they could to feed themselves and their
children. Suicide was now at a high as well. Many businessmen or farmers and really anyone else who
had lost their job or business due to the times often committed suicide as the easy way out. The way
out of the Depression was a long road ahead.
FDR, in my opinion, is mainly the reason that the Great Depression ended. FDR would hold fireside
chats everyday on the radio. This was very consoling for a country who thought they were headed
nowhere. It was nice to hear a man of power tell you that everything was going to be okay. He gained
even more great respect after announcing the New Deal.
The first New Deal was aimed towards business recovery. He insisted that the banking industry now
be regulated and developed F.D.I.C. that would insure your deposits up to $5,000. This is the same
system that we use today.

Intrinsic Motivation, By Daniel Pink
At the point when a person arranges or needs to accomplish something, he or she has a motivation for
that particular thing. As it were, the point at which a person accomplishes something, that person has a
motivation behind why he or she ought to do that thing. Not generally there is motivation to
accomplish something, yet in some cases might be numerous reasons that are support a person to take
those activities to do it. Two of those motivations which Daniel Pink discusses are intrinsic and
extrinsic motivation, and how they are once in a while consolidated together. Dweck in the other hand

Aftereffects Of The Las Vegas Shootings
I will be providing information from three articles. The three articles I have chosen are about the
shooter of the Las Vegas shooting on the country music festival that happened on the night of October
1, 2017. From what we have been told by the media, the shooting that happened during the concert
was from the Mandalay Bay Hotel window just across the street from the concert. The aftereffects of
the concert left about 500 people injured and almost 60 people killed, which includes himself. The
shooting has affected everyone in the United States because almost everyone is scared that it was a
terrorist attack and that there will be more closer to their homes. Some people think the shooter was
working alone and some people, such as the people that were attending, say that there was more than
just the shooter from the hotel. I will examine and analyze how the three authors have written about
the Las Vegas shooting. I will examine each author s credibility, the evidence that the author uses, and
logical and/or emotional points of the story. My essay will also include assessments on the potential
biases from the the Media Bias Fact Check site for the three article I have found.

I sprinted into school and up four flights of stairs, and returned to the announcer s booth. When I
arrived, I was exhausted and disheveled, and worst of all the game had already begun. I turned the

that filled the crowd as my co announcer and I cracked corny jokes and encouraged everyone to cheer
for the powder puff football game. As my voice hung over our entire high school community, I

Essay On Teacher Observation
The art of teaching is a difficult to define. The evaluation tools used by school administrators must be
counted upon to do just that, define what an excellent teacher looks like and does. Danielson (2010)
says that teaching describes not only the teaching that occurs in the classroom but also the behind the
scenes work of planning and other professional work, such as communicating with families and
participating in a professional community. The Framework for Teaching encompasses all of these
aspects and more within the teacher evaluation process.
Administrators should enter a teacher s classroom with the idea that the teacher is a terrific teacher.
Preconceived optimistic feelings are essential because the administrator wants to build on the positive
aspects of their teaching ability. Nonetheless, it is also important to keep in mind that every teacher
can improve in some area. The administrator s goal for observations should be to build a relationship
with each member of the faculty so that offers of advice and ideas on how to improve in areas where
refinement is needed can be given in a way that is comfortable for both parties. I chose to observe
someone that teaches in close proximity to me, both personally and physically. This teacher, who will
in this report called Ms. Merry, has been teaching for over 20 years and has looped this year with her
class from the first grade into the second grade. When I first requested to complete the observation

The rise of WoW to the top of the video game industry showed us that living in a virtual world is not

The Little Chinese Seamstress Character Analysis
Of course not everybody in the world likes to talk about exactly what they are feeling or thinking all
the time. There is a certain degree of things that generally are kept private. However, in the book The
Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie, the main character (who doesn t ever reveal his name to the
audience, so is simply called the Narrator), comes off as an especially closed off character specifically
in the beginning half of the story. He rarely ever speaks what he is actually thinking, which makes him
a kind of difficult character to relate to. The Little Seamstress, a local beauty, has caught his eye along
with every other male in the village , but he struggles with how to express his feelings because he is
not used to doing so, and because his best friend (Luo) is dating her. On pages 161 163, Luo has left
the village and asked the Narrator to keep an eye on the Little Seamstress while he is away. However,
even though the Narrator keeps his word, he can t help but feel attracted to her and an inner battle
between what he wants and what is right begins. In this part of the story, the Narrator feels torn
between his love and affection towards the Little Seamstress and his commitment/promise to Luo.
Here, the Narrator finally portrays to what extent he feels towards her, but does so very subtly (which
is fitting seeing as that s who he is a character: altogether reserved).

exercise physiology through my undergraduate career exposed me to a variety of healthcare
philosophies, all using different methods and having different outcomes, but rooted in the same goals
of improving a person s well being. Exploring the nuances of nutrition, fitness and the applications of

The Gulf Of Tonkin Incident
Under the Johnson legislation, the Gulf of Tonkin Incident was a catalyst that inevitably escalated the
American involvement in the Vietnam War. It was on August 2nd 1964 that three Vietnamese torpedo
boats allegedly attacked the American destroyer, the U.S.S Maddox. Apprehensive of losing more
countries to communist ideals, the U.S intervened ten years prior to the incident in the Gulf of Tonkin
without any major military campaigns. Influenced by former president Eisenhower s Domino Theory,
which stated that if one country is communist, the other countries would be influenced by communist
ideals, Lyndon B. Johnson and his administration was led to believe that the United States was
obligated to stop the spread of communism. It was the incident in the Gulf of Tonkin where the U.S
had its first major encounter with the North Vietnamese. Allied with the south, the Gulf of Tonkin had
plunged the United States further into a full scale war. However, with America s response to escalate
the war, many people wonder even today if the Gulf of Tonkin was truly a counter offensive from the
North Vietnamese. Did the U.S really act responding to Vietnamese aggression or did the U.S just
declare that they responded to an act of aggression just to escalate the war? Under the lead of
President Harry Truman, in 1947, a foreign policy doctrine was forged during the Cold War called the

Social media has become an essential part of society in this day and age because of its many positives

Most minors that post on social media sites, don t have their near future in mind when they hit post .
As social media becomes more prominent among minors, a record number of college admission

Servant Leadership And President Andrew Jackson As A...
Leadership refers to the act of leading a considerable number of people within an establishment or the
capacity to do this. Leadership has to do with coming up with a vision that is crystal clear and the
ability to spreads that idea out in a manner that makes individuals, given the information, knowledge,
and methods to understand, willing to follow. Subsequently, balancing and coordinating the
conflicting interests of all stakeholders and members. It is typical for any good leader to step up in the
event of a contingency, with the potential to imagine and act creatively in situations that prove to be
difficult. Different from management, leadership can never be taught, in as much as it may be learned
and bettered employing mentoring and coaching (Servant Leadership Based on Robert Greenleaf s
Writings, 2010).
An example of an individual that had outstanding leadership skills is President Andrew Jackson, who,
irrespective of previous letdowns, with persistent innovation and passion did all he could to clinch the
presidential seat and make America a better place. He being categorized among our forefathers, the
first Presidents of the United States, makes him an individual that was not motivated by money or the

How To Install A Handicapped Grab Bar
Give a Helping Hand with a Handicapped Grab Bar As people age, it becomes harder for them to do
certain things. One of the hardest for a lot of people is getting up from a sitting or a lying down
position. It means that even the simplest things can become hard for them. They may have trouble
getting out of bed in the morning, getting up from their favorite chair, taking a bath or a shower, and
even getting off the toilet. You can help them by providing them with a handicapped grab bar and
allow them all the privacy that they deserve. Why Install a Handicapped Grab Bar? The grab bar is
designed to help people get up when they are unable to do so without help. This allows them to do
things more independently. They gain privacy by not having to have help when it is time to bathe or
use the bathroom. They will no longer have to have help when getting up off their favorite chair or out
of bed, depending on where you install the grab bar. They are stainless steel bars that resist rust and
corrosion. This means that they can be put virtually anywhere that a person may need help getting up
or down. If you have a wall on one side of the toilet in their bathroom, you can put the support bar on
the other side to give them something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You do not only need them if a person is unable to stand on their own. The purpose of a safety grab
bar is to help anyone stand without help or worry about a potential fall. This means if you know
someone who suffers from frequent dizzy spells when they stand up quickly, the bar will give them
something to hold on to for stability. If a person has broken a leg and now has trouble standing up,
they can use a bar to help them take a shower or do other things. Elderly who are not disabled, but
may benefit from having something to hang on to at times can also use them. Even a pregnant woman
who is nearing her due date may benefit from having a pole to hold onto when trying to stand up

My Learning Experience
In the last year, I have moved from New Jersey to New York to Iowa. Moving away from your family
is hard, but can be done by having a strong relationship with people and good friends. Moving
multiple times for the same reason, hockey, can be mentally and physically tough, but the outcome
and experiences that you will encounter will make up for it. Moving is hard but can be overcome and
can be viewed as a learning experience. Being born and raised in New Jersey has impacted my life in
a very special way. From kindergarten through eighth grade, I was in the same school called St. Paul s,
which is located in Princeton. I made some amazing friends during my time in middle school. During
this time, I was playing hockey for a team called The Little Flyers, which was just outside of
Pennsylvania. We were a remarkable team that won many games and championships over the years.
The coach was a former player in the National Hockey League named Stephane Charbonneau. He was
a special coach who had exceptional advice and knowledge of the game. Two days out of the week,
when I did not have team practice, I would have goaltending lesson with a goaltending coach named
George Bosak. George is one of my favorite goalie coaches I have ever worked with. He has so much
knowledge and love for the game. After eighth grade when I graduated from St. Paul s, I had to make
a decision: stay and play high school hockey, go to Buffalo, New York or go to Canton Michigan to
play and develop my skills as

The Importance Of The Media

spread of news, entertainment has a rapid speed through the media and mass communication. The
public opinions and thoughts can be easily affected by the spread of media, also, mass communication
of the news media may provide some bias and prejudice of the news. In this sense, to have a powerful
communication tool, the agenda setting theory demonstrates that it is better if shaping the various
news in order to create a moral society (Kiousis and McCombs, 2004). In general, agenda setting
describes the effects of the media on the general public, the ability to choose important issues (Moon
2011, p.699). The sense of agenda setting has been deeply accepted by the public a long time ago. In
1992, Walter Lippmann (1992), a newspaper columnist, argued that the mass media has the ability to
produce images of events that can be present to the public. Since 1948, Lazarsfeld and Metton (1948)
acknowledged that the function of the press to give specific status upon events it emphasizes. Till

  • 2. Understanding And Managing Recreational Fisheries Within A... Fishing is often seen as a recreational escape from work or daily routines, as it also meets the basic human needs of nutrition. In the report, Illustrating the critical role of human dimensions research for understanding and managing recreational fisheries within a social ecological system framework, by Hunt et al., we look more closely at the management of recreational fisheries in relation to the fishers themselves, and how it may influence the outcomes of the fisheries ecological systems. In turn we see critical connections between the ecological and social systems, which give us great feedback on a recreational fisher s actions and how we can better manage those actions. In the report they focus on the coupling of fisher s behaviors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These give the researchers better information in regards to the connections and feedback between the natural and human components of the recreational fisheries system management. In terms of recreational fishing, using human dimensions research provides information about a fisher s preference, behavior, attitude and wellbeing when it comes to the support of fisheries management. Taking an in depth study of the fisher s views and opinions on policy and management issues can better illustrate how fishers make choices for pursuing fishing among sites that may differ greatly in their regulations and many other attributes. Being able to understand a fisher s evaluations on a wide scale will better help human dimensions researchers interpret and predict their future behaviors, which has become an important area of enquiry. Before, human dimensions researchers studied a small scale of fishers and did not account for diversity; the new studies being conducted do the exact opposite. L.M. Hunt et al. look at the fisher s evaluations in a much broader aspect. By taking a deeper study into understanding fishers and what prompts their actions will better allow human dimension researchers and biologists to make connections between the fishers and fish, whereas they would otherwise solely focus on the fisheries biology. Some people, like myself, need practical models in order to understand certain concepts and theories. In our text book The Economy Today it completely ignores the intrinsic value of business decisions because you can t put a numeric value on it. The game Monopoly™ is all about the numbers. In the game of Monopoly™ you have goals: The object is to bankrupt all opponents. To do so, you must be dedicated and make each decision with the aim of improving your chances and wiping out your opponents. Know when to cause a building shortage If you have only low rent color groups, quickly build three or four houses per property to restrict the availability of houses to owners of high rent color groups. Never move up to a hotel anywhere if the return of houses to the bank would enable an opponent to develop an expensive color group. (Example: the Yellow group has just been formed. There are only three houses in the bank, but six hotels. You own the light blues with four houses on each. Do not buy hotels. Doing so would give the player owning the Yellows an opportunity to build up to hotels on them.) (Monopoly.com) By buying up the houses you are creating a barrier to entry. It is a barrier even if your opponent has the necessary funds to enter. This is because of the basic economic principal of scarce resources, or as Stephen Slavin calls it in Economics Control over essential resource. • 4. Early Anthropogenic Hypothesis Essay Did humankind prevent the start of an ice age during the Holocene? Discuss arguments for and against the Early Anthropogenic Hypothesis. The Holocene Epoch is the timescale given to the last 11,700 years of earth s history, beginning at the end of the last ice age. (BD Smith et al, 2013) Therefore it can be noted as being a relatively warm period in history in comparison to other scales of time from the past. The Early Anthropogenic Hypothesis is an idea put forward by Professor William F Ruddiman from the University of Virginia which states that the effects of human induced greenhouse gas emissions did not occur simply since the industrial era, but may well have been kick started many thousands of years before this, closer to the start of the Holocene. By which may have prevented the start of an ice age during this timescale. However there are many views ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This coincides with Ruddiman s belief of CO2 levels increasing due to human activity. There is a clear pattern between the rise in industrial activity and the rise in CO2 levels. Since the industrial revolution (1750 1900) there was a rapid rise in levels of CO2 being created and emitted into the atmosphere. As a consequence, this saw a rise in the CO2 levels from 270ppm to roughly 310ppm by the 1950 s, which increased again in the following 30 years by 70ppm, after the initiation of the Great Acceleration of industry (W Steffen et al, 2007). Non coincidentally the Little Ice Age which occurred during the Holocene ended at around 1800, shortly after the beginning of the Industrial revolution. (Richard Prentice) This shows a clear correlation between the increase of CO2 levels and human activity. Although this is most certainly in more recent times, it still provides clear evidence to suggest that Ruddiman was correct in his belief that human activity causes CO2 rise and therefore has the potential to prevent the start of an ice ... • 7. Persuasive Essay On Space Mountain It was our first trip to Disney World, and we were visiting what I thought, was the scariest ride in the world. I thought that certain ride was scary, because ever since I was five I would always throw up on the roller coasters, or even car rides. I hated roller coasters ever since I threw up. I thought to myself, This is Disney World we re talking about, I have to go on this ride, I need this. I promised myself I would go on every single ride here. I will get over this fear. After that thought I looked at my dad, as he was already planning on going on this ride. The ride was called Space Mountain, I was told that people with motion sickness shouldn t go on the ride, but that won t stop me. I ve also been told it is a pretty cool and fun ride, so that is another reason why I m going on Space Mountain. Daddy, I told him. I wanna go on Space Mountain. I felt so confident in that one moment of my life. My mom gives me a look. Peanut, you shouldn t go on that ride, you will get sick and puke. She says. I look back at my mom then my dad. My dad whispers something into her ear as my mom turns to me and hands me a doggie bag. Use this just in case you puke. She says. Have fun sweetie, my mom says softly. My dad takes my hand and tells me he is proud of me, he leads me to Space Mountain. As soon as I looked up, I felt sick, the structure and ride was so big. I didn t know that I could do it, but I had to, I couldn t chicken out in front my Dad. After all I already told him I would go. We walked into Space Mountain, there were lights everywhere we looked. I started to jump up and down, I started to get excited for once about a roller coaster, I felt so proud of myself, I would actually get a chance to ride a roller coaster again! I felt scared, and I also felt so happy and proud of myself at the same time. My Mom and brother chickened out on going, so I felt so alive, and mature to be riding such a big ride. I looked at the line, there were no people, we were early! Come on Daddy, there are more people coming behind us! In the movie Blackboard Jungle the sound track portrays a type of rebellion mentality while in the movie Rebel Without a Cause there is an unknown type of mentality. The song that was playing in the beginning of the movie Blackboard Jungle was called Rock around the Clock by Bill Haley. Because of the up tempo beat and the lyrics it reminded me of a rebellion type of music. The song talks about rocking around the clock so I can imagine the teenagers in the movie breaking the teachers records while causing mad hysteria in the classroom. In the movie Rebel Without a Cause the song was more an unknown type of mentality. When I heard the song at the beginning of the movie I didn t know where the song was going to go for instance if the beat was going to increase or slow down. This correlated in the movie because the main character Jim is used to leaving every time he makes a mistake. On the other hand, this time he decides to stay and do the right thing. I think this shows that there is still hope for the youth culture because they are able to realize their own mistakes without parents. However, there was a belief that teenagers were a separate class they assumed that they were separate and unequal. It s neat to see that rock n roll played a roll into the growing division. • 10. International Law And International Legal Theory Since its beginning, the conflict in Eastern Ukraine has raised legal issues that get to the core of International Law and international legal theory. In particular, the debate among legal experts has focused on the question of secession, the right to self determination of people, and the respect of the territorial integrity of States. The main concern of the scholarship has been to identify the political and legal consequences of a secession of Ukraine s eastern territories and the possible violations of International Law that would occur in such a situation. A less investigated aspect of the conflict is the chance to find a legal solution to the hostilities, seeking to cease violence among the parties and to settle the dispute under the aegis of the UN. This goal may be achieved with the deployment of UN peacekeeping forces. The idea of a peacekeeping operation in Eastern Ukraine is advanced following the requests sent to the UN by the Ukrainian Government in the last two years. In particular, on 4 January 2016 the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN has called for a UN peacekeeping mission in the region of Donbas. Previously, on 14 April 2014 and on 23 February 2015, other two requests were filed for the deployment of UN peacekeeping forces in the territory of Eastern Ukraine. Musicians need continuous training to maintain skills, knowledge, and the ability to interpret music. Much of this training can be achieved through colleges, universities, and musical conservatories. Unlike Sassoon, Brooke never fought at the front line, but joined the Mediterranean Navy where he died of a mosquito bite. • 21. The And The Qur An Essay His reference to the Qur an brings back to the moment he began establishing ethos with his stream of metaphors that explain the ripple effect. Although, this time, he uses a more positive tone in the sense that one good deed will lead to an infinite amount of good deeds. It s almost as if he carefully chose this reference and purposefully delivers it 10 minutes after making the stream of metaphors. Making a connection like that with a huge time gap is a very difficult task and requires a lot of eloquence, something that only Barack Obama and a few other speakers possess. Each part of the speech includes proof and refutation. For example, when Obama brings up the issue of Iraq, He provides the logical argument that America has the responsibilities of helping Iraq and leaving Iraq to Iraqis. The refutation occurs when he acknowledges nine eleven and how it led to reactions that were against traditional belief and made the promise to take troops out of Iraq by 2012. He also makes the promise to have Guantanamo Bay closed. These promises were big promises that received great attention. I consider the promise Obama made about bringing all troops back from Iraq by 2012 to be one of the most impactful promises that he made as a president because it affects nearly everyone s family and friends in the United States. The next part that is about the issue of Palestinians and Israelis. He brings up the history and logical argument about each side of the story but ultimately refutes ... • 22. Appellate Power Vs Supreme Court First of all, it is important to distinguish that the appellate and discretionary powers belonging to the Supreme Court are two separate powers. The appellate power is the power of a higher court to reverse or uphold the ruling of a lower court. The Supreme court is the highest court and thus takes more appeals cases than trial cases. This is due to the limited original jurisdiction of The Supreme Court. Unless the case is between two states, involves the United States as a party, or involves a representative of a foreign nation the U.S. Supreme Court lacks original jurisdiction. The Supreme Court also has limited appellate jurisdiction. The Court can only hear a case if a federal question is presented, The United States federal government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Allowing for appeals to the highest court allows for important decisions to be made that set precedent for the rest of the courts. It also allows for errors made in the lower court to be corrected. The appellate jurisdiction that The Supreme Court holds is granted by The Constitution. In Article III of the preamble The Supreme Court is only limited by the discretion of Congress. In a way this power has more checks in place than the discretionary powers. One major critic of the appellate power of The Supreme Court is that it allows for lower courts to be invalidated. This can lead to less faith in the lower courts and thus undermines the power of the overall judicial system. Another problem with the appeals process is the amount of useless litigation that results from the ability to appeal. The Supreme Court does not often overturn decisions made by the lower courts and thus most of the cases brought to The Court take up time and resources that might be better used. The process of appeals for the Supreme Court solves some of this problem, but does not completely mitigate it. The review process used by The Supreme Court is highly effective and ensures only cases that need the decision of The Supreme Court reach the justices. As such, the appellate powers of The Supreme Court have few issues and serve an important function in the Judicial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

William of Normandy s conquest of the duchy of Aquitaine allowed England to have claim over lands in France. This increased tension between the English king, Edward III, and the French king, Phillip VI, that would inevitably create a war that lasted one hundred and sixteen years (Fiero 175). King Edward III maintained that he held claim to the French throne. When Edward III was only fifteen years old, Charles IV of France died without a male heir. • 32. Essay On Teacher Observation The art of teaching is a difficult to define. The evaluation tools used by school administrators must be counted upon to do just that, define what an excellent teacher looks like and does. Danielson (2010) says that teaching describes not only the teaching that occurs in the classroom but also the behind the scenes work of planning and other professional work, such as communicating with families and participating in a professional community. The Framework for Teaching encompasses all of these aspects and more within the teacher evaluation process. Administrators should enter a teacher s classroom with the idea that the teacher is a terrific teacher. Preconceived optimistic feelings are essential because the administrator wants to build on the positive aspects of their teaching ability. Nonetheless, it is also important to keep in mind that every teacher can improve in some area. The administrator s goal for observations should be to build a relationship with each member of the faculty so that offers of advice and ideas on how to improve in areas where refinement is needed can be given in a way that is comfortable for both parties. Leadership has to do with coming up with a vision that is crystal clear and the ability to spreads that idea out in a manner that makes individuals, given the information, knowledge, and methods to understand, willing to follow. Subsequently, balancing and coordinating the conflicting interests of all stakeholders and members. It is typical for any good leader to step up in the event of a contingency, with the potential to imagine and act creatively in situations that prove to be difficult. Different from management, leadership can never be taught, in as much as it may be learned and bettered employing mentoring and coaching (Servant Leadership Based on Robert Greenleaf s Writings, 2010).
