Benefits Of Live And Virtual Domains Enhances Training
Air Force units and personnel need to train in a complex tactical, operational, and strategic level
environment, under all likely threat and weather conditions, emulating potential contingency locations
world wide, while integrating with composite, joint, and coalition partners. XX Combining the unique
benefits of live and virtual domains enhances training by increasing opportunities to train with joint
and multinational partners, enabling realistic combat scenarios, and ensuring interoperability of
systems. While live training exercises are limited by the number of players available, through
distributed LVC OT more players can be brought into training scenarios. This expanded access to
training events allows for a realistic blue force laydown for readiness training that supports specific
theater campaign plans and named operations. Rather than relying on costly just in time live mission
rehearsals, joint and combined forces tied together in a continuously available virtual battle space can
regularly rehearse and hone TTPs prior to deploying. Additionally, realistic models and simulations
more accurately represent red forces, in capability and numbers, to challenge blue force training
objectives and modern weapon systems capabilities. [INSERT EXAMPLE RF or VF] This capability
is critical as the Air Force prepares for the challenges of full spectrum combat versus near peers in
contested environment.
Furthermore, by training with partners, not only TTPs, but can ensure

The Common Wealth Bank Of Australia
Cloud computing can be defined as an internet based computing model that can be used to provide
services to multiple users, simultaneously, as and when requested. The Common wealth Bank of
Australia (CBA) included cloud service models in their IT infrastructure quite recently, and has
released in public the details of this project. The white paper released in public provides the details of
the cloud model implemented by the organization, along with the factors that had driven the project
and the benefits that have been availed from the project. This article is aimed at providing a detailed
description of infrastructure that has been adapted by the Common Wealth Bank. Discussions have

developmental environments to design software applications. 3. Case study: Commonwealth Bank of
Australia 3.1 Background of the project: The Commonwealth Bank of Australia is one of the major
multinational banking organizations of Australia. Headquartered in Sydney, the organization has a
well managed IT strategy. Besides this, CBA has been effective in incorporating infrastructure capable
of catering to the complex requirements of the banking sector (Schlagwein, Thorogood and Willcocks
2014). In 2006, the higher management of the organization declared their decision of migrating to the
cloud platform. As, at that point of time the organization was aimed at making significant reductions
in their IT infrastructure costs and migrating to the cloud platform was the best available option. 3.2
The drivers and barrier of the project: The very first factor that encouraged the implementation of the
Cloud based IT infrastructure was the fact the migration to such a model made promises of huge cost
savings. The other drivers of this project are listed in following section: a. Migrating to the cloud

The Pursuit Of Knowledge Depicted In Mary Shelley s...
When people think of Frankenstein, they usually think of a big scary monster. These people are
usually not educated, because if they were, they would know that Frankenstein was actually the
creator of the big scary monster . Frankenstein is a novel written by Mary Shelley that follows the
journey of a young scientist named Victor Frankenstein, who constructs a sentient creature in his quest
to create a living being. Mary Shelley portrays the themes of gender inequality, pursuit of knowledge,
and man playing God through her use of characters and events in Frankenstein.
The first major theme the novel illustrates is the oppression of women. This can be shown when
Walton expresses to his sister, Margaret, how he [has] no friend (Page 4).Through the feminist lens,
Walton is a privileged white male because he gets to travel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When Victor is in production of his monster, he says the creature s limbs were in proportion, and [he]
had selected his features as beautiful (Page 35). One of the characteristics that separate Victor from
God is how Victor only sees what s on the outside. He s astonished to perceive that his creation is
unattractive, and he can t see to figure out why. Maybe if Victor were actually a God, his creature
wouldn t be ugly. An alternative example of Victor s narcissistic thinking and constant comparisons to
almighty beings is when he states that a new species [will] bless [him] as its creator and source
including how many happy and excellent natures would owe their being to [him] (Page 32). He really
thinks he s the maker of a new species; a God. Though there are some similarities between Victor and
God, maybe Vicky Frank here should hop off his high horse for a little bit and breath in fresh air
called reality. To summarize this theme, Victor Frankenstein basically has a superiority

Nursing Drug Abuse Essay
Drug Abuse: A Recommendation for Acts of Prevention In Hospitals
Within the past year, nurses with Annie Penn Hospital have been involved in over three hundred
situations that led to significant changes in the hospital s surveillance and protocol. Many nurses have
been taking non prescription drugs while on the job causing impaired judgement, which leads to
complications during surgeries. These encounters have prompted a series of outraged families
demanding justice, and the United States oldest non profit healthcare organization has decided that
there has to be a change in hospital protocol. Recently, Mayor Donecker has made recommendations
to the local hospital to adopt surprise drug tests as the preferred approach to discovering the potential
impaired nurses. The response from the nurses to the mayor s call to change protocol have been both
negative and positive. As the head CRNA, I have been asked to look into the issue and report to the
Joint Commission. This report includes a review of the professional literature on how job performance
is related with stress. Then it will refer to drug abuse and how it can affect an employee s daily life.
Next, this report will recommend several tactics to help hospitals regulate, and reduce the abuse ...

Microaggression In The Classroom
A professor, for the most part, is usually the one in charge in the classroom. They help lead and guide
discussion while ensuring that all involved feel safe and free to share their thoughts without backlash
and unnecessary criticism. Professor Deidre Cobb Robert (2011), a professor at the University of
Southern Florida, tells a different tale. She tells the story of a young man who, within her own
classroom, subtly caused disruption and diminished her authority through his actions, citing safety for
his reasons for doing so. He told this teacher and administrators of this school that he felt
uncomfortable with and felt attacked during discussion, and, eventually, that he felt unsafe in the class
and required security presence to attend class. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states that the the microaggression notion seems fixed so that whites can t do anything right. In a
sense, he is correct. The way microaggression is defined, failing to acknowledge a person s
background is racist, but at the same time, viewing someone only from their background is considered
racist too. If this is the case, where does it end? This is why there are those who see microaggression
as minorities being whiny, oversensitive, and even lazy. Mike Rosen, a political commentator in
Denver, Colorado, speaks on how microaggression, by its own definition, is based on the perception
of the so called victim, which makes it even harder to truly define it, or at least narrow it down enough
that it can be acted on. In his example, if a black woman overhears two people say the word negro and
she is offended, it is a microaggression, even though, when put into context, it was two Hispanic
women speaking in Spanish and one complemented the other on the black dress she was wearing. For
some, microaggression is an excuse for parinoia and

Las Vegas, seat of Clark County in southeast Nevada, is the largest city in the state and one of the
fastest growing cities in the United State. Las Vegas has a favorable business climate: taxes are
relatively low, and there are neither city nor state income taxes. This is because gambling and sales
taxes, paid by tourists, have allowed the city and state government to avoid personal and corporate
income taxes. Las Vegas offers more than 310 days of sunshine per year as well as mild, sunny winters
and low humidity year round. The Las Vegas inland desert area is virtually free of tornados and ice
storms.
Shopping New York, London, Paris, they have got nothing on us. Las Vegas is home to some of the

Civil War Advantages
The North vs. The South During The Civil War There were many differences between the North and
the South during the Civil War. Most differences were a result of advantages and disadvantages
between the two sides. The Unions advantages at the time included a higher population count, more
factories, faster food production, faster transportation by railroads, and overall, a better economy.
Although minimal, the Confederacy also held specific advantages. Southern advantages included a
first rate military leader, as well as other experienced military leadership, and highly motivated
soldiers (civilwar.org, n.d.). These were both great advantages to have during the civil war, and even
led to a few defeats over the experienced and prepared Union. The South consisted of eleven total
states which succeeded from the Union in order to preserve their beliefs on slavery, states rights, and
political liberties. After succeeding, they formed the Confederate army and prepared to fight against
the Union. The North, on the other hand, consisted of twenty three states which ultimately fought to
preserve the Union and protest slavery, hopefully leading to an end of slavery altogether. Despite the
strategies each side held, the pre war characteristics determined specifics about how each would fight.
These characteristics also provided potential reasoning as to why the fighting between the North and
South began (civilwar.org, n.d.). As stated above, the North had a greater economy than the

The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and The Story of an Hour by Kate
Chopin are two different stories with the women both suffering from an illness. One of the
women are sufferering from a mental illness and the other physical, and both are bery emotionally
detached from their husbands. In An Story of an Hour Mrs. Mallard is at first devistated from her
husbands death but soon realizes this means she is free from him, and in The Yellow Wallpaper it
seems that John is very controlling and doesn t pay true attention to his wife. The illnesses of both the
women affect their relationships in very similar ways.

It
is evident in An Story of an Hour that the protagonist lead a very sheltered life due to her illness and
people often too caution, but it is also evident that she wished to be free and to live her life despite her
restriction because of her illness. Though her husband may love her on some level he still keeps her
confined to that house in the name of her health. The contrilling spouse in an emotionally abusive
3
relationship usually makes major decision, such as where to live and how to furnish the home. The
protagonist in The Yellow Wallpaper wants to take another room but John would not hear of it
(p119). He didn t undertand or chose to ignore the fact that the wallpaper in her room was affecting
her
mental state. These evidential factors all lead to emotional abuse, using the two women s illnesses as
excuses for their actions.
Both women in the stories suffer from an illness, both physical and mental, an extent in both
stories. Though there is emotional detachment, there is still some form of love, though it may have
lead
to spousal abuse. Though their husbands were taking action for their illnesses it seems that the
husbands only thought of their wives by their illnesses, not as a person having one. This caused a great
disconnect and in the end causing a great emotional rift to be caused between husband and wife, and
making both of their lives harder

event of Cold War was the time for the aspects of diplomacy and its role for the world order.
I.Introduction Cold war is historical event to be described as the conflict between communist states
and democratic states, as the Soviet Union led the Communist Bloc and United States led the Free
World nations. It was after the Second World War when the Cold War began, the United States and
Soviet Union, particularly Russia, former partners against Axis powers, started to distrusted each other

For a tornado to form there must be a cold front, and low level moisture. Tornadoes are associated
with big and strong thunderstorms. A column of warm and humid air will rise quickly. How it begins
to rotate is not understood by scientists, but what they think is that two different winds with different
altitudes and speeds. This creates a wind shear. The column of air sometimes gets caught in a super

One popular idea is that small cloud particles have a positive charge, and then the other larger particles
are negatively charged. The particles separate, and the upper part of the cloud becomes positively
charged, while the lower part becomes negatively charged. The positive and negative charges attract
each other and the charges will grow strong enough to overcome the air s resistance to electrical flow.
Then the charges race toward each other, they connect, and create an electrical circuit. Then it
discharges the accumulated electricity as lightning. Lightning will most likely occur in the summer
time during a thunderstorm. As the lightning strikes, it travels downward toward the ground. Lightning
is measured by how much electricity a bolt of lightning will contain. What you should do during a
lightning storm is try to stay indoors. Be sure to avoid water. Stay on low ground, and avoid being in
the open. Also, if you have any trees that touch your house, cut them because if the tree were to be
struck, the electricity would go through your home. Floods start when there has been a heavy rainfall,

Animal Testing Is Not All Humane And Pain Free
An estimated 26 million animals are used every year in the united states for scientific and commercial
testing (ProCon.org). We are rapidly using up the earth s supply of small animals. A 2011 poll of
nearly 1,000 biomedical scientists conducted by the science journal Nature found that more than 90%
agreed that the use of animals in research is essential (ProCon.org). Right now, millions of mice, rats,
rabbits, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked up in cages and are getting killed for scientific tests to
create products and medicines. Thus, animal testing is cruel and inhumane to be experimenting on
animals, there are alternative methods available to researchers to replace animal testing, and that
animals are so different from human beings that research on animals often yields irrelevant results.
First, Animals used for scientific testing is cruel and inhumane because animal s experience feelings
just like humans. What I discovered in my research is that animal testing is not all humane and pain
free as most people think. The US Department of Agriculture reported in 2010 that 97,123 animals
suffered pain during experiments while being given no anesthesia for relief (ProCon.org). If humans
receive anesthesia during surgeries, then so should the animals. These animals undergo procedures
that cause these animals to feel 100% pain. Although animal testing may seem environmentally
friendly, animals are subjected to force feeding, food and water deprivation, and the

In the story of Robin Hood, Robin Hood was a criminal who stole from the rich and gave to the poor.
In many people s eyes, he was seen as a hero, while the king and royalty saw him as a thief. Well it is
not too far off of what Satoshi Nakamoto did. In the article The Crypto Currency written by Joshua
Davis, Nakamoto created a currency system called the bitcoin. The bitcoin deals only with electronic
transactions of cash. It is essentially online cash. The bitcoin is not to be confused with a credit card.
With a credit card, the transaction goes through a bank, with interest and the bank then pays off with
their cash. The bitcoin is cash, which is online, so there is no middle man such as going through banks

Bridging the distance between nineteenth and twentieth centuries, Gerard Manley Hopkins poetry is of
great significance. As often the case with innovators and artists who are ahead of their times, Gerard

Some of the recurrent themes and motifs in Hopkins poetry include the idea that the world resembles a
book written by God, through which he expresses himself in order to provide humans with an
opportunity to understand and approach him (Gardner 11). In God s Grandeur Hopkins can be seen to
express his concern about the spiritual crisis of the Victorian period. During this time of urbanization
and industrialization, Hopkins voiced his distress about human indifference to destruction. This poem
is one of the very few which he wrote during the time when he served as a priest.
The form of God s Grandeur is an Italian sonnet, but with some alteration. Even though Hopkins does
not use sprung rhythm here, he varies his sonnet structure from the traditional iambic pentameter.
Typically, a sonnet contains 3 quatrains (4 lines) and a couplet (2 lines); the Italian sonnet is
characterized by having 1 octave (8 lines) and 1 sestet (6 lines). In God s Grandeur a similar pattern is
followed, however, Hopkins presents a technique he often employs in other works as well, that of
using the octet to present a personal or a sensory experience and the octet in order to provide some
reflection on the topic (Gardner 221).
God s Grandeur paints a poignant image of the destructiveness of contemporary human life, in
particular, in the second quatrain. The second quatrain also presents a feature that is specific for
Hopkins and different from the rhythm of the Italian

veterans experienced a scene of devastation very similar to that of the battlefields. They initially

Article Review of VoIP Definition and Solution
VoIP Technology
This essay evaluates an analysis presented in an article discussing voice over Internet protocol (VoIP)
technology. The article, VoIP Definition and Solutions, written by PCWorld and CIO author and editor
Thomas Wailgum, describes how VoIP works, its capabilities and its applications. The article
examined the treatment of VoIP topics including its definition, objectives, systems and solutions.
The term voice over IP refers to a technology that carries voice calls over an IP network by digitizing
and packetizing voice streams. Closely related to IP telephony and Internet telephony, VoIP
technology allows analog communications to be routed over data networks that include wide area
networks (WANs), local area networks (LANs), and the Internet. Combining voice and data on one
network can offer the Army potential telecommunications savings and efficiencies, but there are
challenges that come with maintaining network capability, reliability, flexibility and security.
Callers connect to VoIP technology in three ways. One method uses a regular telephone, along with a
fast Internet connection, and for the individual soldier placing a call, an analog telephone adapter or
ATA. The ATA converts analog voice signals into digital packets of data to be sent over the Internet.
This application of VoIP technology is easy to set up and use, and is frequently used by VoIP
consumers.
The Army, which has many users on traditional telephones, would need to use a specialized

New Generation Of Ships For The Merchant Marine
Despite extensive renovations and unsympathetic additions to her superstructure, The Emerald, as she
was known for her final years of service, was in fact a significant ship in maritime history. She was
one of the last American built passenger ships and steamships, able to survive years of obscurity and
the bankruptcy of two owners to have a long career.
Starting her life as Santa Rosa, her story began as part of the United States Government s post World
War II initiatives to encourage development of a new generation of ships for the merchant marine. A
beneficiary of these efforts, in 1954 Grace Line entered into a $286 million agreement for one of the
largest ship replacement programs in American history.
Grace Line was a storied firm, tracing its roots back to William Russell Grace, who was born in 1832
in County Cork, Ireland. He established a trading business between Peru, Europe and the United
States, operating magnificent clipper ships before transitioning from sail to steam. By the 1950s,
Grace Line s fleet consisted of twenty three passenger and cargo vessels operating on three Latin
American trade routes, including two 1932 built 10,000 gross ton sister ships, Santa Rosa and Santa
Paula, that offered fortnightly service from New York with stops in the Caribbean en route to
Columbia and Venezuela.
Grace s new passenger ships would be designed by America s preeminent naval architect, William
Francis Gibbs. His plans called for two, very solid looking 15,000

experience in the red room, probably the most metaphorically vibrant of all her early experiences,
forces her deeply into herself. For the red room, stately, chilly, swathed in rich crimson, with a great

her vision of the society in which she is trapped, an uneasy and elfin dependent. No jail was ever more

room where Mr Reed, the only father Jane has ever had, breathed his last. It is, in other words, a kind

Rheumatology-Personal Narrative
Ever since I was 9, I ve had bone and joint pains and when I finally went to rheumatology about it, the

Susan B Anthony Dares To Compare And Contrast Essay
In the two stories, Susan B Anthony Dares to Vote and Don t give up the fight the theme is likewise.
The theme of the stories is being different. The reason the theme of the stories is being different is
because it clearly states that in both passages. In Don t Give Up the Fight Ava is the only girl on the
track team. Also in Susan B Anthony Dares to Vote, Susan wants to stand up for women s rights when
no one else does. The way the two passages are different are the characters. In the first passage Ava

The Most Iconic Civil Rights Movement Influencers Of All...
To begin my essay, I would like to start off with arguably the most iconic civil rights movement
influencers of all time, Billie Holiday. Eleanora Fagan was born on April 7, 1915 and is from the
Quaker City formally known as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Eleanora childhood could be best
described as unsteady, at times. During these trying points in her life, Eleanora enjoyed singing along
to records and escape the harsh reality of her life. When she made the move to New York with her
mother around the age of 15, she began to perform at local clubs under the name Billie . After a while

She began to play piano at her father s church for some time. Nina dreamed of becoming a pioneer
African American pianist but her hopes and dreams were crushed when her acceptance to an
institution was denied. Unsurprisingly, Nina Simone s ethnicity influenced the rejection of her
application. This did not stop her as she began to play at local bars and soon enough, at the age of 24,
she caught the attention of several labels. One of Simones most famous and controversial pieces of art
is the track titles Mississippi Goddam . This track rose to fame by unsettling her relationship with
white listeners but strengthening her position within the civil rights movement. Nina Simones
Mississippi Goddam was a track that the artist wrote following the horrific events that took place in
Mississippi and Alabama. In Mississippi, a prominent civil rights activist named Medgar Evars was
murdered. Meanwhile in Birmingham, Alabama a church was bombed taking the lives of four young
African American women. Enraged, Simone retaliated by doing what she does best, music. She

The Timeline Of U.s. Healthcare History
The timeline of U.S. healthcare history began with Early American medicine with Native Americans
and common folk practices performed by settlers. Practices included herbal remedies, procedures such
as bleeding, blistering, and purging (Batnitzky, Hayes, Vinall, (2014). Practices were based on theory
and environmental contributors rather than diagnosis of treatment. The First Marine Hospital fund was
signed into law in 1789,creating the beginning of organized medicine and facilities. The First Marine
Hospital fund ensured military members and individuals with federal eligibility were provided
medical treatment and preventive care. Funds in maintaining treatment facilities was acquired though
payroll deductions. This treatment was provided at various hospitals and facilities. Through growth
and expansion, treatment facilities were operated and maintained by military operations. In 1847, the
American Medical Association (AMA) was founded by Dr. Nathan Davis. Standards and guidelines
were determined for the education requirements for medical professionals, drug manufacturing,
preventing disease, sanitation, and in providing higher standards of treatment and care (American
Medical Association [AMA], 2015). In 1872, the American Public Health Association [APA] was
formed in promoting prevention of communicable diseases. This was the next major breakthrough in
reducing diseases such as smallpox, whooping cough, and other common diseases that highly spread.

The Effect Of Electricity On The Early 1800s
This article explained how electricity was generated in the early 1900s. Burning coal in the city
centers produced electricity and also helped to heat buildings. Only people near from the city were
able to use electricity because there was not way to transmit the electricity to rural areas. After a long
time coal plants started to grew and people were facing difficulties because the coal plants occupied
space and they also produced pollution to the city. People decided to move coal plants to the outside of
the city in that way people would not be affected, they started to use transmission wires to carry
electricity. Even though they did not have the same efficacy to obtain electricity they were finding a
way to improve it. At the beginning of 1970 technology began to improve, so many mass produce
engines were produce and they can be located in the middle of the population, also decentralized
plants were used to recycle the wasted heat. After all these benefits of the new technology, industry
decided to make some changes. Electric monopolies started to charge people for the use of electricity.
Later on, congress tried to open competition in 1978 and some independent power companies started
to develop one site generation. This article was focused in a research on how to build new power
generation providing technology, capital costs and fuel prices. After all of this significant and dramatic
changes in electricity, United States was facing problems because the power industry

Eggs Are A Popular Choice
Eggs are a popular choice in countries all around the world as they are low in cost and have no
restrictions within religious beliefs (Miranda, Xaquin, Redondo Valbuena, Roca Saavedra, Rodriguez,
Lamas, Cepeda 2015). A hen starts laying eggs at around eighteen to twenty two weeks old, depending
on the breed of chicken and the time of the year (Jacob, Wilson, Miles, Butcher, and Mather 2015). At
twelve months, old the hens egg laying count declines and they are considered spent leading the hen to
get slaughtered. A hen will lay around three hundred eggs a year depending on environment it is being
raised in. Most people who go into an grocery store are not aware about what the different types of
eggs mean therefore they don t know what they are truly buying and consuming. As a carton of eggs
has a nutrition chart on it, it does not show or describe the living conditions that the hen is being
housed in. I have obtained appropriate information regarding eggs and how they are produced to help
consumers make informed choices. The choices to take into factor are; the type of egg, nutrition,
diseases, cost in stores, and production cost.
Different types of eggs
There are five main egg types that are carried in most grocery stores. These types are based on what
environment the hen is being kept in and what type of fed they are being given. The main
environments in which a hen is being kept is in battery cages, free run, and free range housing

Composition II
Who should be responsible for Television Violence? Can we afford to continue ignoring the
connection between television violence and the increase in mass murders? The answer is no. We have
to take a stance now and fight for stricter regulations by the government and the Federal
Communications Committee (FCC). Television has been associated with influencing controversial
acts since the beginning of its creation. One of the most recent acts that television is being blamed for
is the violence associated Columbine High School murders in 1999. Many adults enjoy the

This works because it helps eliminate the peer pressure amongst children who can and cannot watch
certain shows. The second half to the village theory is the way government handles certain
regulations. Currently the government assigns the FCC to regulate all media matters. The FCC
enforces laws prohibiting the airing of obscene programming at any time and the airing of indecent
programming or profane language during certain hours. The FCC also has the ability to revoke a
station license, impose a monetary forfeiture or issue a warning if any station violates the law.
However this is limited to nudity and foul language. Congress has not given the FCC power to
regulate violence. So, the message is it s more important to bleep foul language or run to commercial

Fast Food Has A High Energy Density And Low Nutrient Profile
The days of eating every home cooked meal at the dining room table are disappearing. As working
and living styles become more fast paced, the time to exercise or prepare nutritious meals diminishes.
Eating habits have changed to achieve convenience. Drive throughs, delivery, and pre packaged meals
regularly provide consumers with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack options within minutes of
ordering. However, fast food has a high energy density and low nutrient profile that has led to a
worldwide increase of waistline. Obesity is becoming one of the most prevalent nutritional diseases in
developed countries. In the United States, adult body fat is measured using body mass index.
Approximately 73 million adults have BMIs greater than or equal to 30, which diagnoses them as
obese (Bell et al., 2011). Health professionals have not thoroughly understood the physiological
processes leading to the rapidly increased prevalence; however, high adiposity certainly results from
excess caloric intake and decreased energy expenditure. Childhood obesity, particularly beyond age
12, persists into adulthood in 80% of cases (Huang, Lee, Lu, 2007). About 30% of children ages two
to 19 years struggle with overweight (Mcpherson, 2012). The World Health Organization (WHO) and

Racial Discrimination And Its Effects On American Culture
If there is one thing I have noticed during my, admittedly, short sixteen years, it is the racial
discrimination and obvious bigotry of the those who are not white . Stereotypes and detrimental
comments are slung every which way. Others, rely on subtle jabs while some are oblivious to the
offense of the people they are around. It seems to me, that people do not seem to care. I have listened
to countless conversations where people would nonchalantly insult their own culture and heritage as if
they were being humorous. I have friends who would willingly describe themselves as whitewashed.
Washwashed: Used to cover up or gloss over faults, errors, or wrongdoings, or absolve a wrongdoer

quickly swept under the rug. The Komagata Maru is an excellent example of racial discrimination, as
well as the many residential schools that wrecked abuse and havoc upon so many Native families. On

Nō Drama – Atsumori Nonomiya
Nō drama plays an important role in Japanese literature. It was an important entertainment in the old

were written according to popular novels or prose works. In this essay, I would like to introduce two
Nō dramas, Atsumori and Nonomiya, as well as the respective sources references. Atsumori is a Nō
play written by Zeami. This is classified as the second category of Nō drama, which talks about
warriors. The plot of this play is base on the Heike Monogatari, and the story happens in the late 12th
century at Ichinotani, the place where Atsumori was killed by Kumagai no Jirō Naozane. In the Heike

So elements of the story such as place and characters were pretty much fixed. However, the
personalities of the main characters are presented differently in the Nō play, which tend to depict
emotions more exquisitely. In Renshō s case, since he was changed from a warrior to a monk, it is no
doubt that the depiction would have been quite different. For Atsumori, in the original work, Atsumori
was not described in very detail. He was just depicted as a high born young man, talented with
musical skills, and brave when encountering enemies. But in the play, there are more emotions shown
through the songs, as well as the conversation between Renshō and the Villager. Atsumori was
suppose to leave for home with the clan, but because he left his flute in the battlefield and he hated if
the enemy would have take it, so he went back to take his flute. That made him missed the crew, and
he was left behind. ...he was riding into the sea, hoping to swim his horse out to the ships... This

home together after the victory. ...reining in my horse, I halted, at loss for what to do... I could imagine
a picture of a young boy looking panic because of being left behind. But Kumagai called him at the

Therefore, he ended up died in a foreign land. This was so sad for a warrior who had already won

is, Nadine, like all other teenage girls, are bound by the (1) the need to excel at girl stuff, (2) the need
to excel at boy stuff, and (3) the need to fit into the narrow beauty and behavior standards assigned to

For Nadine and many others, the consequence is abandonment. Nadine s failure to fit into the behavior

after failing to sacrifice herself for her friends and family, Nadine s mother, brother, best friend and
love interest have all abandoned her. Furthermore, Nadine s father s death was a kind of abandonment,
and unfortunately, this trauma heightens Nadine s sensitivity to betrayal in her relationships. Clark
explains that the consequences of ripped apart family system remain a constant source of brokenness
throughout one s life (48). Moreover, Nadine, like other adolescents, feels pressure to meet the
unrealistic expectations assigned to her in part because she is immersed in a larger culture of
abandonment in which social institutions and adults abandon their responsibilities to adolescents, and
instead, they assume that adolescents should fulfill roles that serve adult interests (Clark 27) . Nadine s
mother demonstrates this attitude because she believes that her teens should sit on a pedestal to serve
her emotional needs. Unfortunately, for Nadine and many other teens, a willingness to meet these
conflicting expectations will not automatically lead to their independent flourishing and success; More

when people start a new job they usually go through some type of training getting them ready for the
work. That s what this experiment is about, but it s not just your average type of training. In the Article
Increasing Cognitive Readiness Through Computer and Videogame Based Training by Jorge Peña and
Nicholas Brody, a study was made to see if exposure to emotional or tacticle miltatry videos had an
effect on two compents of congnative readiness, emotional regulation and metacognition. Also

U.S military forces try to increase cognitive readiness, through military computer training systems.
These types of videos, try to expose them to life similar situations that they might encounter while on

behaviors (Pena and Brody) . Playing it over and again can also increase long term effects, such as
playing a violent video games can increase a person s violent thoughts which can in turn modify moral
judgement. Before the military trainees were trained to control their thoughts and reactions, they were
first exposed to negative emotional videos, watching the death of a teammate or watching a harshful
wrong doing, which made them overcome with emotions and let anger take control of their mind.

them were women. Participants were asked to complete 3 surveys. First, demographics, second they
had an option to watch one of two training stimulation videos, one of them had a comrade dying, the
other was would you shoot a non identified target, possibly a civilian. Thirdly they went to play the
military game Moral combat The participants first went through a training simulation where they
learned how to move, use the gun, and take photos. The game mission itself lasted 6 minutes, and
participants needed to take pictures of targets in a bazaar, operate when under enemy fire, interrogate
suspects, and inspect a room either forcefully or defensively(Pena and Brody) . The second video of
would you shoot the target turned out to be a boy with a toy. In summary the after the video game

Essay on Homosexuality and the American Baptist Church
Homosexuality in the Baptist Church:
Homosexuality is one of the most debated issues among Christians today, regardless of the
denomination of their church. Some churches view homosexuality as a sin and have no tolerance for
it, while other denominations are more accepting and consider it a non sin. Even though some
denominations have taken a stand on homosexuality, there seems to much discord within the
governing bodies of the churches regarding this issue. It has moved from a topic rarely discussed and
considered very personal and private, to a mainstream topic of conversation.
Although there has been a growing acceptance among certain Christian denominations regarding
homosexuals, the American Baptist Church has remained firm in its ... Show more content on

They also established a Commission on Human Sexuality Resources to provide clarification and
guidance for a Christian understanding of God s gift of sexuality.
By June of 1992 the General Board of the American Baptist Church was being pressured by some of
their member churches to accept the practice of homosexuality within their denomination. A resolution
called Homosexuality and the Church , which identified Gods plan for the fulfillment of sexual union
to be one man and one woman in heterosexual, monogamous, and lifelong marriage, was narrowly
defeated. The resolution further stated that the redeeming love of Christ is available to practicing
homosexuals as it is to all who turn to him in faith and repentance.
Then a few months later, in October 1992, the General Board was again approached and was forced to
vote regarding the issues of homosexuality in their church. They finally agreed to issue a one sentence
standing that was called American Baptist Resolution on Homosexuality . The sentence briefly stated
We affirm that the practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching. This started the
ball rolling and in June of 1993 the General Board next came up with another resolution that was
called American Baptist Resolution Calling for Dialogue on Human Sexuality . That resolution states
that there exists a variety of understandings throughout our denomination on issues of human
sexuality

Ww1 Austria-Hungary Research Paper
This essay will attempt to answer the question To what extent is Austria Hungary at fault for causing
the start of World War One? This topic is significant due to the ongoing debate about how WWI
started and because of the debt some countries only recently, have paid off. In 1914, the country to
declare the first war was Austria Hungary s(AH) declaration of war on Serbia. Following this was
Serbia s ally, Russia, who mobilized its troops in preparation, and Germany soon after declaring war
on the russians. As the snowball effect came into place, countries such as France, the United Kingdom
and Belgium followed in declaring different wars amongst each other. This resulted in the start of
World War I. It began in 1914 one of the greatest wars in all of history, ending almost five years after
in November of 1918. The causes of WWI, will continuously spark debates between people, as there
were so many countries involved. This essay will argue that Austria Hungary is mostly to blame for
inducing the beginning of the First World War. Evidence of this appears when looking at crises such as

Thus, Austria s imperialistic aims had become to diminish Serbia s power for the benefit of expanding
their own empire. An example of how they went about this was the Balkan Crisis. The Balkan Crisis
involved countries that wanted to increase their size into more land area. An issue that Austria
Hungary dealt with was that as they expanded the empire struggled with keeping the different ethnic
groups together. A way of distracting from these internal conflicts, was to go to war. The imperialistic
ideas of Austria Hungary contributed to their declaration of war because of their fight for pride. For
the longest time, Austria Hungary and Serbia fought over land and power. For this reason, Austria
Hungary was quick to declare war on Serbia to finally settle the debate of

Curriculum Of American Education Essay
Malala Yousafzai, Bill Gates, Michelle Obama, and Emma Watson. What do all of these people have
in common? Besides being people that I personally look up to, these are all activists for education
around the world. As someone who has been fortunate enough to have gone through school in such an
excellent district, I have seen the impact that an excellent education can have on a child. This is why I
firmly believe that education is the strongest asset that any generation can have to succeed.
In recent years, the United States has fallen behind other countries in education. While we might not
be seeing the immediate effects right now, but unless we make education more accessible and
comparable to other countries curriculum, Americans will fall behind in the global market. It is
imperative that the curriculum of American schools is reevaluated in order to help future generations
have the assets required of them in our globalized world.
In addition to traditional classroom education, knowledge is also critical in order to create a more ...

In most other countries, children begin learning a second language very early in their schooling. Most
American schools, however, do not begin foreign language instruction until middle or high school. It
is clear to see the detrimental effects of this. If you ask anyone who took a foreign language class in
high school, chances are that they have retained none of it, unless they continued to study it in college.
This is because by the teenage years, it is much harder for the human brain to learn a second language.
If more schools began teaching a second language in elementary schools, it is more likely that students
will retain more language skills. As a result, more individuals will have the language skills required in
this global market to succeed with international relations and

Owls Persuasive Essay
Many Ravens will likely root for the Denver Broncos to knock off the Carolina Panthers in Super
Bowl 50. After all, the Broncos are coached by former Ravens Offensive Coordinator Gary Kubiak
and have a pair of Ravens from last season (tight end Owen Daniels and safety Darian Stewart). Don t
count Ravens outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil among those necessarily pulling for the Broncos,
however, even though he used to play for Denver. Dumervil suited up for the Broncos for six seasons
before a fax snafu led to his release, and it seems that he s not thrilled that the team is playing in the
Super Bowl three years later. Dumervil is still close with former Broncos teammate Von Miller, but
not so much with the organization. Von is like a younger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

first Super Bowl with Baltimore. Wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. is another Ravens veteran still looking
for his first Super Bowl ring who will watch his former team in the big dance. Smith and the Panthers
lost to the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVIII at the end of the 2003 season. Similar to Dumervil, Smith
said he s excited for his former friends, and for the city where he still lives. He didn t specifically say
he was pulling for the team, however, after the Panthers and General Manager Dave Gettleman
released him after 13 seasons. On last week s Dan Patrick Show, Smith predicted the Panthers will
beat the Broncos, but said, I think it s going to be a better game than people think. I wouldn t be
surprised if [the Panthers] ran away with it, Smith said. But the Denver Broncos do have a solid
defense and it s going to be interesting to see what kind of game plan and how effective they will

African American Freedom And Injustice
The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without restraint, is what we know today as
Freedom. While an unjust act or occurrence is implied as Injustice. These two terms are examples of
the issues that many African Americans face daily in America. Freedom and Injustice could be
combined to define the term of Slavery. Slavery in America began when the first African slaves were
brought to the North American colony of Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619, to aid in the production of
such lucrative crops as tobacco. It was practiced throughout the American colonies in the 17th and
18th centuries, and African American slaves helped build the economic foundations of the new nation.
Slavery was ultimately outlawed and laws prohibiting discrimination against African Americans
passed, racism against this community remains and is manifested in more subtle ways today. The song
Be Free is a response to the accident of African American teen, Mike Brown, who was shot by a police
officer due to the color of his skin. J. Cole was moved by the event, and instead of ignoring it, he uses
his power to voice his feelings and thoughts of the issue that has been present in the world for
Decades. Cole s song punctuated what was already a strong reaction in hip hop circles, with artists,
fans and critics going online to express themselves and debate the issue. Born in Germany on January
28, 1985 as Jermaine Lemarr Cole, J. Cole is an MC and producer who has achieved phenomenal

`` Everything But The Coffee ``
Bryant Simon s novel, Everything but the Coffee, sought to expose the exploitations of the famous
coffee company, Starbucks, by unveiling the corporation true s intention on selling its over priced
coffee laced with disguises of false lies and advertisement. In the selected passage, Simon describes
Starbucks as a typical corporate business, and that the company advertises to sell its product through
false claims. Ethical consumption means that the consumers use their buying power to affect political
outcomes or raise political consciousness (203). In other words, consumers use money to buy products
from companies to spread awareness, or provide a solution to it. Simon states that Starbucks changes
its image and portrays itself as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter seven, it was stated that the coffee shop company do not completely buy from the small
time farmers. In case regarding towards Rwanda, a developing area where Starbucks supposedly
performs fair trade, it was discovered that Starbucks buy their coffee beans from bigger plantations
and the middle man, who buys coffee beans from small time farmers usually scamming them (216).
This creation of image of Starbucks being a good corporate business in helping the small time farmers
earn more income is contracted by Simon s findings, and shows that the coffee company is actually
taking advantage of the small time farmers, when Starbucks buys from the middle man or the big
plantation owners, it pay less for the coffee beans than they do if Starbucks purchases beans from
small time farmers. The greed of Starbucks at the expense of the individual farmers is unethical, yet
the coffee shop company markets the contradiction.
In the beginning of the chapter, Simon discusses on the issue of Starbucks and its profits on stories
that the company sells on how they help the farmers in third world countries like Nicaragua. Simon
traveled to Nicaragua and met Santiago Rivera. Rivera s cultivation of coffee beans was his life
profession, for much of his life, he lugged hundred pound burlap sacks of green coffee...sold his
crop...to a middleman..at this point, Rivera got doubly cheated...buyer might swindle him on the

Tales In The Canterbury Tales
All three articles have several things in common but also have several thing which distincts them from
the others. Lawrence, Pratt, and Meyer Lee all share a different idea of how the tales in the canterbury
tales were written. They all have different arguments on how the ordering and the editing of the tales
were. Some of them Along with that they also argue about the manuscripts and the order that the
manuscripts can be in due not knowing dates on when it was written. Furthermore, they also introduce
the idea of having discussions of the tales because they don t just want their audience to read the tales,
but they also want hear assumptions and open more discussion. In the Sequence of the Tales by
Lawrence, he discusses his view based off what Furnival s beliefs are. Lawrence is actually one of the
only editors that agrees with Furnival s order but doesn t agree with his reasoning in choosing that
order. Lawrence uses the letter grouping such as, A, B, B1, B2, to group the tales and he believes this
is the best way to order them (Lawrence, 93). He believes this is the best way because some stories
could have been moved around to keep a sequence going on in the story. He also doesn t agree with
Furnival s method about relating the tales to Chaucer s trip to Canterbury. Although the tales were not
finished, Chaucer was able to have parts that showed fluidity (Lawrence, 99). There is a three in a half
day method in which Lawrence believed all stories fit into, but

The Traversal Of The Infinite
Finiteness has to do with the existence of boundaries. Intuitively, we feel that where there is a
separation, a border, a threshold there is bound to be at least one thing finite out of a minimum of two.
This, of course, is not true. Two infinite things can share a boundary. Infinity does not imply
symmetry, let alone isotropy. An entity can be infinite to its left and bounded on its right. Moreover,
finiteness can exist where no boundaries can. Take a sphere: it is finite, yet we can continue to draw a
line on its surface infinitely. The boundary , in this case, is conceptual and arbitrary: if a line drawn on
the surface of a sphere were to reach its starting point then it is finite. Its starting point is the boundary,

The second thesis is that every substance is made up of simpler substances. The two mathematical
antinomies relate to the infinite. The answer to the first is: Since the world does not exist in itself
(detached from the infinite regression), it exists unto itself neither as a finite whole nor as an infinite
whole. Indeed, if we think about the world as an object, it is only logical to study its size and origins.
But in doing so, we attribute to it features derived from our thinking, not affixed by any objective
reality.
Kant made no serious attempt to distinguish the infinite from the infinite regression series, which led
to the antinomies. Paradoxes are the offspring of problems with language. Philosophers used infinite
regression to attack both the notions of finiteness (Zeno) and of infinity. Ryle, for instance, suggested
the following paradox: voluntary acts are caused by wilful acts. If the latter were voluntary, then other,
preceding, wilful acts will have to be postulated to cause them and so on ad infinitum and ad nauseam.
Either the definition is wrong (voluntary acts are not caused by wilful acts) or wilful acts are
involuntary. Both conclusions are, naturally, unacceptable. Infinity leads to unacceptable conclusions
is the not so hidden message.
Zeno used infinite series to attack the notion of finiteness and to demonstrate that finite things are
made of infinite quantities of ever smaller things. Anaxagoras said that there is no smallest

International Mathematics And Science Study
Many students in the United States are not ready to compete in a society that demands critical
thinking, the ability to problem solve, and to work with others (Team Pennsylvania Foundation, 2011).
Team Pennsylvania Foundation has reported sub par performance on state mandated high school
assessments suggesting that our classroom instruction lacks the rigor required to ensure student
success on these exams (2011). In 1957, the launch of Sputnik marked the need for the United States
to take a serious look at the education provided to its children (Powell, 2007). The next 30 years
ushered a renewed emphasis on mathematics and science in schools across the country. Focus centered
on systemic changes to curriculum and improving instructional techniques. Schools increased
expectations to meet the realized needs of a nation ready to take the next technological step (Thomas,
2013).
Nearly 40 years later, the effectiveness of the United States educational system again came into
question. The launch of the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) in 1995
measured student performance in mathematics and literacy worldwide. Twelfth grade students in the
United States ranked among the lowest in the world (Schmidt, 2012). While the United States
demonstrated growth ranking in the top 36%, just 9 years later many of the countries that participated
in the first study chose not to participate in the follow up study. Schmidt (2012) theorized that the

Benefits Of Live And Virtual Domains Enhances Training Air Force units and personnel need to train in a complex tactical, operational, and strategic level environment, under all likely threat and weather conditions, emulating potential contingency locations world wide, while integrating with composite, joint, and coalition partners. XX Combining the unique benefits of live and virtual domains enhances training by increasing opportunities to train with joint and multinational partners, enabling realistic combat scenarios, and ensuring interoperability of systems. While live training exercises are limited by the number of players available, through distributed LVC OT more players can be brought into training scenarios. This expanded access to training events allows for a realistic blue force laydown for readiness training that supports specific theater campaign plans and named operations. Rather than relying on costly just in time live mission rehearsals, joint and combined forces tied together in a continuously available virtual battle space can regularly rehearse and hone TTPs prior to deploying. These people are usually not educated, because if they were, they would know that Frankenstein was actually the creator of the big scary monster . Frankenstein is a novel written by Mary Shelley that follows the journey of a young scientist named Victor Frankenstein, who constructs a sentient creature in his quest to create a living being. Mary Shelley portrays the themes of gender inequality, pursuit of knowledge, and man playing God through her use of characters and events in Frankenstein. The first major theme the novel illustrates is the oppression of women. This can be shown when Walton expresses to his sister, Margaret, how he [has] no friend (Page 4).Through the feminist lens, Walton is a privileged white male because he gets to travel ... He s astonished to perceive that his creation is unattractive, and he can t see to figure out why. Maybe if Victor were actually a God, his creature wouldn t be ugly. An alternative example of Victor s narcissistic thinking and constant comparisons to almighty beings is when he states that a new species [will] bless [him] as its creator and source including how many happy and excellent natures would owe their being to [him] (Page 32). Many nurses have been taking non prescription drugs while on the job causing impaired judgement, which leads to complications during surgeries. These encounters have prompted a series of outraged families demanding justice, and the United States oldest non profit healthcare organization has decided that there has to be a change in hospital protocol. They help lead and guide discussion while ensuring that all involved feel safe and free to share their thoughts without backlash and unnecessary criticism. Professor Deidre Cobb Robert (2011), a professor at the University of Southern Florida, tells a different tale. She tells the story of a young man who, within her own classroom, subtly caused disruption and diminished her authority through his actions, citing safety for his reasons for doing so. If this is the case, where does it end? This is why there are those who see microaggression as minorities being whiny, oversensitive, and even lazy. Mike Rosen, a political commentator in Denver, Colorado, speaks on how microaggression, by its own definition, is based on the perception of the so called victim, which makes it even harder to truly define it, or at least narrow it down enough that it can be acted on. In his example, if a black woman overhears two people say the word negro and she is offended, it is a microaggression, even though, when put into context, it was two Hispanic women speaking in Spanish and one complemented the other on the black dress she was wearing. • 9. Civil War Advantages The North vs. The South During The Civil War There were many differences between the North and the South during the Civil War. Most differences were a result of advantages and disadvantages between the two sides. The Unions advantages at the time included a higher population count, more factories, faster food production, faster transportation by railroads, and overall, a better economy. Although minimal, the Confederacy also held specific advantages. Southern advantages included a first rate military leader, as well as other experienced military leadership, and highly motivated soldiers (civilwar.org, n.d.). These were both great advantages to have during the civil war, and even led to a few defeats over the experienced and prepared Union. The South consisted of eleven total states which succeeded from the Union in order to preserve their beliefs on slavery, states rights, and political liberties. After succeeding, they formed the Confederate army and prepared to fight against the Union. The North, on the other hand, consisted of twenty three states which ultimately fought to preserve the Union and protest slavery, hopefully leading to an end of slavery altogether. Despite the strategies each side held, the pre war characteristics determined specifics about how each would fight. These characteristics also provided potential reasoning as to why the fighting between the North and South began (civilwar.org, n.d.). As stated above, the North had a greater economy than the ... Some of the recurrent themes and motifs in Hopkins poetry include the idea that the world resembles a book written by God, through which he expresses himself in order to provide humans with an opportunity to understand and approach him (Gardner 11). In God s Grandeur Hopkins can be seen to express his concern about the spiritual crisis of the Victorian period. During this time of urbanization and industrialization, Hopkins voiced his distress about human indifference to destruction. This poem is one of the very few which he wrote during the time when he served as a priest. The form of God s Grandeur is an Italian sonnet, but with some alteration. Even though Hopkins does not use sprung rhythm here, he varies his sonnet structure from the traditional iambic pentameter. Typically, a sonnet contains 3 quatrains (4 lines) and a couplet (2 lines); the Italian sonnet is characterized by having 1 octave (8 lines) and 1 sestet (6 lines). In God s Grandeur a similar pattern is followed, however, Hopkins presents a technique he often employs in other works as well, that of using the octet to present a personal or a sensory experience and the octet in order to provide some reflection on the topic (Gardner 221). God s Grandeur paints a poignant image of the destructiveness of contemporary human life, in particular, in the second quatrain. • 21. Article Review of VoIP Definition and Solution VoIP Technology This essay evaluates an analysis presented in an article discussing voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) technology. The article, VoIP Definition and Solutions, written by PCWorld and CIO author and editor Thomas Wailgum, describes how VoIP works, its capabilities and its applications. The article examined the treatment of VoIP topics including its definition, objectives, systems and solutions. The term voice over IP refers to a technology that carries voice calls over an IP network by digitizing and packetizing voice streams. Closely related to IP telephony and Internet telephony, VoIP technology allows analog communications to be routed over data networks that include wide area networks (WANs), local area networks (LANs), and the Internet. Combining voice and data on one network can offer the Army potential telecommunications savings and efficiencies, but there are challenges that come with maintaining network capability, reliability, flexibility and security. Callers connect to VoIP technology in three ways. One method uses a regular telephone, along with a fast Internet connection, and for the individual soldier placing a call, an analog telephone adapter or ATA. The ATA converts analog voice signals into digital packets of data to be sent over the Internet. This application of VoIP technology is easy to set up and use, and is frequently used by VoIP consumers. The Army, which has many users on traditional telephones, would need to use a specialized ... New Generation Of Ships For The Merchant Marine Despite extensive renovations and unsympathetic additions to her superstructure, The Emerald, as she was known for her final years of service, was in fact a significant ship in maritime history. She was one of the last American built passenger ships and steamships, able to survive years of obscurity and the bankruptcy of two owners to have a long career. Starting her life as Santa Rosa, her story began as part of the United States Government s post World War II initiatives to encourage development of a new generation of ships for the merchant marine. A beneficiary of these efforts, in 1954 Grace Line entered into a $286 million agreement for one of the largest ship replacement programs in American history. Grace Line was a storied firm, tracing its roots back to William Russell Grace, who was born in 1832 in County Cork, Ireland. He established a trading business between Peru, Europe and the United States, operating magnificent clipper ships before transitioning from sail to steam. By the 1950s, Grace Line s fleet consisted of twenty three passenger and cargo vessels operating on three Latin American trade routes, including two 1932 built 10,000 gross ton sister ships, Santa Rosa and Santa Paula, that offered fortnightly service from New York with stops in the Caribbean en route to Columbia and Venezuela. Burning coal in the city centers produced electricity and also helped to heat buildings. The game mission itself lasted 6 minutes, and participants needed to take pictures of targets in a bazaar, operate when under enemy fire, interrogate suspects, and inspect a room either forcefully or defensively(Pena and Brody) . • 41. Essay on Homosexuality and the American Baptist Church Homosexuality in the Baptist Church: Homosexuality is one of the most debated issues among Christians today, regardless of the denomination of their church. Some churches view homosexuality as a sin and have no tolerance for it, while other denominations are more accepting and consider it a non sin. Even though some denominations have taken a stand on homosexuality, there seems to much discord within the governing bodies of the churches regarding this issue. It has moved from a topic rarely discussed and considered very personal and private, to a mainstream topic of conversation. They also established a Commission on Human Sexuality Resources to provide clarification and guidance for a Christian understanding of God s gift of sexuality. By June of 1992 the General Board of the American Baptist Church was being pressured by some of their member churches to accept the practice of homosexuality within their denomination. A resolution called Homosexuality and the Church , which identified Gods plan for the fulfillment of sexual union to be one man and one woman in heterosexual, monogamous, and lifelong marriage, was narrowly defeated. The resolution further stated that the redeeming love of Christ is available to practicing homosexuals as it is to all who turn to him in faith and repentance. Then a few months later, in October 1992, the General Board was again approached and was forced to vote regarding the issues of homosexuality in their church. They finally agreed to issue a one sentence standing that was called American Baptist Resolution on Homosexuality . The sentence briefly stated We affirm that the practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching. This started the ball rolling and in June of 1993 the General Board next came up with another resolution that was called American Baptist Resolution Calling for Dialogue on Human Sexuality . That resolution states that there exists a variety of understandings throughout our denomination on issues of human sexuality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Ww1 Austria-Hungary Research Paper This essay will attempt to answer the question To what extent is Austria Hungary at fault for causing the start of World War One? This topic is significant due to the ongoing debate about how WWI started and because of the debt some countries only recently, have paid off. In 1914, the country to declare the first war was Austria Hungary s(AH) declaration of war on Serbia. Following this was Serbia s ally, Russia, who mobilized its troops in preparation, and Germany soon after declaring war on the russians. As the snowball effect came into place, countries such as France, the United Kingdom and Belgium followed in declaring different wars amongst each other. This resulted in the start of World War I. It began in 1914 one of the greatest wars in all of history, ending almost five years after in November of 1918. The causes of WWI, will continuously spark debates between people, as there were so many countries involved. A way of distracting from these internal conflicts, was to go to war. The imperialistic ideas of Austria Hungary contributed to their declaration of war because of their fight for pride. • 43. Curriculum Of American Education Essay Malala Yousafzai, Bill Gates, Michelle Obama, and Emma Watson. What do all of these people have in common? Besides being people that I personally look up to, these are all activists for education around the world. As someone who has been fortunate enough to have gone through school in such an excellent district, I have seen the impact that an excellent education can have on a child. This is why I firmly believe that education is the strongest asset that any generation can have to succeed. In recent years, the United States has fallen behind other countries in education. While we might not be seeing the immediate effects right now, but unless we make education more accessible and comparable to other countries curriculum, Americans will fall behind in the global market. It is imperative that the curriculum of American schools is reevaluated in order to help future generations have the assets required of them in our globalized world. In most other countries, children begin learning a second language very early in their schooling. Most American schools, however, do not begin foreign language instruction until middle or high school. It is clear to see the detrimental effects of this. If you ask anyone who took a foreign language class in high school, chances are that they have retained none of it, unless they continued to study it in college. This is because by the teenage years, it is much harder for the human brain to learn a second language. If more schools began teaching a second language in elementary schools, it is more likely that students will retain more language skills. As a result, more individuals will have the language skills required in this global market to succeed with international relations and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While an unjust act or occurrence is implied as Injustice. These two terms are examples of the issues that many African Americans face daily in America. Freedom and Injustice could be combined to define the term of Slavery. Slavery in America began when the first African slaves were brought to the North American colony of Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619, to aid in the production of such lucrative crops as tobacco. It was practiced throughout the American colonies in the 17th and 18th centuries, and African American slaves helped build the economic foundations of the new nation. Slavery was ultimately outlawed and laws prohibiting discrimination against African Americans passed, racism against this community remains and is manifested in more subtle ways today. • 48. Tales In The Canterbury Tales All three articles have several things in common but also have several thing which distincts them from the others. Lawrence, Pratt, and Meyer Lee all share a different idea of how the tales in the canterbury tales were written. They all have different arguments on how the ordering and the editing of the tales were. Some of them Along with that they also argue about the manuscripts and the order that the manuscripts can be in due not knowing dates on when it was written. Furthermore, they also introduce the idea of having discussions of the tales because they don t just want their audience to read the tales, but they also want hear assumptions and open more discussion. In the Sequence of the Tales by Lawrence, he discusses his view based off what Furnival s beliefs are. Lawrence is actually one of the only editors that agrees with Furnival s order but doesn t agree with his reasoning in choosing that order. Lawrence uses the letter grouping such as, A, B, B1, B2, to group the tales and he believes this is the best way to order them (Lawrence, 93). He believes this is the best way because some stories could have been moved around to keep a sequence going on in the story. He also doesn t agree with Furnival s method about relating the tales to Chaucer s trip to Canterbury. Although the tales were not finished, Chaucer was able to have parts that showed fluidity (Lawrence, 99). There is a three in a half day method in which Lawrence believed all stories fit into, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. The Traversal Of The Infinite Finiteness has to do with the existence of boundaries. Intuitively, we feel that where there is a separation, a border, a threshold there is bound to be at least one thing finite out of a minimum of two. This, of course, is not true. Two infinite things can share a boundary. Infinity does not imply symmetry, let alone isotropy. An entity can be infinite to its left and bounded on its right. Moreover, finiteness can exist where no boundaries can. Take a sphere: it is finite, yet we can continue to draw a line on its surface infinitely. The boundary , in this case, is conceptual and arbitrary: if a line drawn on the surface of a sphere were to reach its starting point then it is finite. Its starting point is the boundary, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second thesis is that every substance is made up of simpler substances. The two mathematical antinomies relate to the infinite. The answer to the first is: Since the world does not exist in itself (detached from the infinite regression), it exists unto itself neither as a finite whole nor as an infinite whole. Indeed, if we think about the world as an object, it is only logical to study its size and origins. But in doing so, we attribute to it features derived from our thinking, not affixed by any objective reality. Kant made no serious attempt to distinguish the infinite from the infinite regression series, which led to the antinomies. Paradoxes are the offspring of problems with language. Philosophers used infinite regression to attack both the notions of finiteness (Zeno) and of infinity. Ryle, for instance, suggested the following paradox: voluntary acts are caused by wilful acts. If the latter were voluntary, then other, preceding, wilful acts will have to be postulated to cause them and so on ad infinitum and ad nauseam. Either the definition is wrong (voluntary acts are not caused by wilful acts) or wilful acts are involuntary. Both conclusions are, naturally, unacceptable. Infinity leads to unacceptable conclusions is the not so hidden message. Zeno used infinite series to attack the notion of finiteness and to demonstrate that finite things are made of infinite quantities of ever smaller things. • 50. International Mathematics And Science Study Many students in the United States are not ready to compete in a society that demands critical thinking, the ability to problem solve, and to work with others (Team Pennsylvania Foundation, 2011). Team Pennsylvania Foundation has reported sub par performance on state mandated high school assessments suggesting that our classroom instruction lacks the rigor required to ensure student success on these exams (2011). In 1957, the launch of Sputnik marked the need for the United States to take a serious look at the education provided to its children (Powell, 2007). The next 30 years ushered a renewed emphasis on mathematics and science in schools across the country. Focus centered on systemic changes to curriculum and improving instructional techniques. Schools increased expectations to meet the realized needs of a nation ready to take the next technological step (Thomas, 2013). Nearly 40 years later, the effectiveness of the United States educational system again came into question. The launch of the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) in 1995 measured student performance in mathematics and literacy worldwide. Twelfth grade students in the United States ranked among the lowest in the world (Schmidt, 2012). While the United States demonstrated growth ranking in the top 36%, just 9 years later many of the countries that participated in the first study chose not to participate in the follow up study.
