Old Testament Exegetical Paper – Isaiah 62
The prophet Isaiah lived in the Southern Kingdom of Judah in the 3rd century B.C. He had a
reputation as an uncompromising prophet who did not soften his words of condemnation and urge to
make changes (Stafford 616). The nation of Judah stood in a precarious position: the wickedness of
the people, the civil war which divided the Israelites into two kingdoms of Judah and Israel, the
neighboring countries which stood by, threatening war and the dilemma that faced the leaders about
whether or not they should take on allies all indicated the downfall of the nation of Judah if the people
did not heed his words and change their ways. According to The Interpreter s Bible, Isaiah 62 was
written in the later part of the prophet Isaiah s life. By ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most references to Zion take place in the books of Psalms, Lamentation and Isaiah. Its first
appearance is in 2 Sam 5:6 as the stronghold of Zion . G.A. Barois points out that it need not be
interpreted restrictively as a single building, but rather as the fortified crest of the hill between the
valleys (959). The name ‘Zion has been suggested by many to designate the entire walled town that
covered the southeast hill of Jerusalem. During the exile however, the whole of Judah came to be
known as Zion. ‘Zion occupies synonymous parallelism with the noun ‘Jerusalem (not just the
southeast hill) while sons of Zion and daughters of Zion implies the inhabitants of Jerusalem (Lam.
4:2, Isa. 10:32). In 1Kings 8:1,2 we read, out of the City of David which is Zion Hence we can
correctly assume that both refer to the same place, which is Jerusalem. Since my chosen passage is
about ‘Zion , it is good to be sure what exactly is being spoken about.
Now that I ve mentioned Zion the city, I d like to cover another important aspect concerning cities that
s mentioned several times in the Bible— watchmen. According to The NIV Exhaustive Concordance,
the word ‘watchmen has been used 13 times in the Old Testament (the singular form, ‘watchman ,
has been used 16 times). This word is often used figuratively in the Bible, hence it is important to
understand its particular meaning in the passage chosen. ‘Watchmen is mostly found in the books of

Ap Euro Dbq French Revolution Calendar
The French Revolution inspired the desire for change and freedom from oppression. Being limited by
the Roman Catholic Church and government was no longer ideal, resulting in many new proposals. Of
these proposals was the notion of wanting to change the Gregorian calendar to a new and non religious
calendar, the Revolutionary calendar. This calendar was made strictly on reasons aimed to improve
France and change previous rituals. With the new system of different months and days, the adoption of
the calendar stimulated controversy between supporters of it and the opposition. Those in favor of the
calendar argued that in order to fully break away from the old customs of France and the church, there
must be a reform in all former things. This includes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The new calendar should not have changed because everyone was already used to the system of the
Gregorian calendar. Making a new calendar will confuse many and throw off schedules of customary
practices (Document 2). Abbe Sieyes responded with this because he was a clergyman who supported
the National Assembly, meaning that the new calendar could consequently result in hardships for the
lower class, which went against what Sieyes fought for. Adding onto this, the people of the lower class
will have a harder time with the new ten days in a week. Working nine out of ten of those days doing
hard labor is vigorous work that required all of their time. A peasant at this time would hate the
Revolutionary calendar because having only one day to take a break is not enough for one to fully
regenerate themselves after constant weeks of labor (Document 4). In addition, this calendar upset
many because it was imposed on the people by force, no one previously had a problem with the
Gregorian calendar (Document 5). Also, images of spiritual related objects will constantly be seen and
since the people were accustomed to religion, practices and traditions will never fade away (Document
6). Being a government official who resides in a French town will have first hand view of the rituals
among the people and will notice that the new calendar system is flawed. It was only a matter of time
until the

Since the late 1960 s, Jack White s mixed media abstract work, defined as abstract impressionism , has
been inspired by African art forms and symbolism. The works included in the Ancestral Image
exhibition are outside the boundaries of traditional painting or sculpture. They contain elements of the
spiritual, the artistic, and the utilitarian that define African art. Reflecting on his work, White states,
Like most human beings I am curious about my ancestors; as a black American, I can know only that
they came from Africa. Art gives me the power to explore the lives of those ancestors and expose
audiences, minority and mainstream, to my discoveries.
While serving in the Air Force, White was both stimulated and inspired by the cultures he was
exposed to during his world travels. White s global experience manifests in much of his art, with
paintings, that are a mixture of various media that construct abstracted visual landscapes.

A bottle is suddenly broken, a fist is suddenly clenched, his speech is slurred. He gets up to get into his

While alcoholism is a complex disease, it starts generally as a person being a social drinker. These

Operation Anaconda Joint Planning Failure
Joint Planning Failures of Operation Anaconda In January 2002, intelligence began reporting on a
heavy concentration of Taliban and al Qaeda forces in and around the Shahikot Valley area of
Afghanistan. With the intelligence available and experience to date, the U.S. Coalition Forces began
planning Operation Anaconda. The end state of U.S. officials was to drive all enemy forces out of their
strongholds within the valley, allowing coalition forces to capture or kill the enemy (2003). Even
though the original plan of three days stretched into a seventeen day battle and resistance was much
greater than expected, military officials hailed Operation Anaconda as a success (Andres, 2007).

Unit 14 Event Driven Research Paper
Key Features of Event Driven Programming
Event Driven Programming consists of a programming paradigm, a programming paradigm is a basic
style for computer programming. It serves as a way for building structure for a computer program. A
paradigm in its simplest form is a typical example or pattern of something, a pattern or model.
An Event Driven Program is not restrained by the style of procedural programs, instead of the top to
bottom functionality of a procedural program, where the code starts at the top and just reads down, on
an already determined path, instead of this, event driven programming has code placed in logical areas
of events, this code is not used in a determined order as the user has full control over the program by

This could be something as simple as operating a leaver to open a hidden door. Another advantage
within event driven programming is the use of sensor technology to operate functions within a
program. This allows hardware to easily interact with applications within the computer, an example of
such application is the ability to have a microphone plugged in the recording jack of the computer and
it too only activate when the microphone receives a signal over a certain decibel level so that the
microphone can constantly be on. A use of such feature could be within multiplayer video games
where concentration is needed constantly so fiddling about with buttons to activate the microphone is
distracting from the game and could make you

Palenquero. The cultural advantages of being in this linguistic minority are that they are closer knit
with everyone in the community. Everyone within the community speaks the same language and will
always be able to understand everyone else.

Are there any cultural disadvantages of speaking the majority language? If so, describe them. If not,
why not?
Answer: Most people if not all speak Palenquero in this country. Cultural advantages of speaking this
language are that they are able to communicate with all residents of San Basilio. Unfortunately, they
also face disadvantages such as jobs. Being that they are typically the only ones who speak this
language, getting jobs aren t easy. Not only do they not have enough for everyone to gain within the
community so not they must look elsewhere outside of the community. They are discriminated
because of the language they speak when trying to get a job outside of San Basilio.
5. What tangible cultural evidence might support the social disadvantages of the lived experience of
being in the majority group? And the minority group?
Answer: Cultural evidence that might support the social disadvantages of the lived experience of
being in the majority group is that they may not be enough jobs to go around, conflict in interest may
come easy, and they aren t able to effectively communicate with others. For minority groups there s
more of a chance that they will be looked down on just for being within a minority group. Also, newer
generation that may not speak the native language will be separated in order to get a better life/job.

Symptoms And Treatment Of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Today, there are many diseases people have to deal with. Some of them are treatable and some of them
are permanent. One of the visible autoimmune diseases is vitiligo. Vitiligo occurs when melanocytes
die or stop producing the pigment that gives a skin, hair, and eyes color. When people have vitiligo the
skin becomes whiter, and it usually occurs on skin on both sides of the body. The exact trigger is not
known but it relates to immune system to attack, destroy the melanin forming cells because of the
family history, sunburn, stress, or exposure to chemicals. It can happen at any age but usually occurs
before the age 20. In the article For Vitiligo Patient, Arthritis Drug Restores Skin Color from June 24,
2015 says that a medication for treating rheumatoid arthritis has given the color back to the skin in a
patient with vitiligo. It is reported that steroid creams and light therapy are not as effective in reversing
the pigmentation. Yale investigators decided to use FDA approved medication (Janus kinase
inhibitors). The patient was given tofacitinib, before this medication the patient s white spots were
increasing. After two month the results were seen, patient had repigmentation on the face, arms, and
hands. After five months, this white spots were almost gone; the patient had only several white spots
left on the body. There were no negative results seen using tofacitinib. The scientists believe that this
could be a breakthrough in the treatment of vitiligo. Brett

In Praise Of The F Word By Mary Shelly
In Praise of the F word is a short story written by Mary Shelly which demonstrates the deficiencies
within the educational system. No student should be allowed to move onto the following grade just
because a teacher cannot tolerate him or her in the classroom. Shelly illustrates this within the story as
she tells the reader that she is in agreeance with the teacher s policy of failing her students. Because of
this the reader will realize that students should put in their maximum effort in the classroom instead of
diminishing their studies. Once students grow up and move onto their responsibilities in the future, the
ones who took school seriously will have an easier time handling those things rather than the ones
who slacked off in school. Students should not be afraid to flunk classes because it matures them and
prepares them for their future, and gives them a sense of accomplishment when they pass the class. To
begin, using the F word to motivate students illustrates matures them as adults and prepares them to
expect anything in the future. Fred Phillips from the University of Saskatchewan stated, when
planning classes, accounting faculty make choices about pedagogies, content, and instructional design
that affect the difficulty of students initial learning experiences. These choices can make initial
learning experiences easier and more comfortable for students, or they can make initial learning
experiences more difficult and challenging (1). How a student

The Law On Attempt Offences
The law on attempt offence is one of three principal crimes linked with inchoate offences the two
other key ones being incitement and conspiracy. This essay will however only be focusing on and
assessing the law on attempt offences.
Attempt crimes can be classified in two different ways: the first one being when the original plan of a
crime fails to succeed as consequence of an unforeseen factor. The second being when the bringing
about of a crime fails due to a mistake from the offender s side. Both categories involve the
perpetrator having taken actual steps towards committing the crime, but it failing for unexpected
reasons. Simply put any attempt to bring about a crime is a crime in itself.
This all sounds straightforward but in reality, it is far more complicated as what seems per instance,
how do you go about, and why, at all, can someone be punished for a crime which was not even
successfully committed those are questions worth asking. The reason that the conviction of an attempt
crime is possible has to do with the fact that the accused has done their best in bringing about the
crime. Ergo the mens rea was present, and it was merely external factors that prevented the crime from
happening. Thus, the accused can still, and is still seen as a danger to society. Secondly, one should
bear in mind that if this kind of interference was not possible, it would be virtually impossible for law
enforcement to intervene in crimes that were at the early stages of

Essay about Narrative Styles In Poe, Melville, Hawthorne
narrative styles in Melville s Bartleby, Poe s Arthur Gordon Pym, and Hawthorne s The House of
Seven Gables. How all three authors utilize a conversational tone for the function of their work.
In works by three of the most classically American authors of the nineteenth century, Melville, Poe,
and Hawthorne, a trait that can be considered common to all three authors is pronounced clearly as a
means to their narration. This trait is that of deploying a narrative laden with and moreover led by
conversational phrasing and asides. The flow of passages in these authors works, Bartleby, Arthur
Gordon Pym, and The House of Seven Gables, takes on a spoken structure, and numerous operations

In The House of Seven Gables Nathaniel Hawthorne utilizes the conversational approach perhaps the
most overtly of any of the three authors, at times situating the narration in the first person plural,
which thereby has the effect of drawing an assumed commonality between the reader and the party of
the narrator. Indeed his use of we is scattered through the entire book, as in the passage (pg. 139): We

Bizarre Fruit
In the mid 1930 s, the south would perform, what they believed to be acts of justice by hanging, or
lynching, black men who were convicted of doing a crime. The Poem Strange Fruit is an interesting
poem depicts a very horrid image of pure racism in the south and how lynchings were such a
gruesome image, and was meant to be a protest against the inhumanity of racism (Blair) . The poem
Strange Fruit was published in 1937 by Abel Meeropol after he viewed an image of a lynching that
occurred in the south. Meeropol was haunted by the image and was inspired to write and publish the

The elements of imagery are seen in the poem when Abel writes The bulgin eyes and the twisted
mouth (6). The sentence describes a very horrid image of how the African Americans looks as they
were being hanged against their will. This depicts imagery because it gives a very detailed image in
the reader s mind of how they looked like as they were hanged. Personification is present in the poem
Strange Fruit when Meeropol writes For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck (10). This is
personification because it gives the rain the trait of gathering things, and it also gives the wind the trait
of sucking. Within the poem, Meeropol also includes juxtaposition, for example when he says Scent of
magnolias sweet and fresh/ Then the sudden smell of burnin flesh (7 8). This is an example of
juxtaposition because it brings out the difference between the sweet smell of a flower, and the bad
dark smell of burning flesh, and it makes the difference between those things more apparent.
Throughout the poem Strange Fruit Meeropol also uses metaphors, such as when he puts Southern
trees bear a strange fruit (1) in his poem. The entire poem itself is a metaphor because the poem
compares African Americans that have been lynched, and the strange fruit that hangs from trees. The
poem is comparing the strange fruit to it actually being the African Americans that were

Flight Training Research Paper
Jocelyn: Does the GI Bill Cover Flight Training Expenses?
The GI Bill does cover flight training expenses, but there are certain restrictions. Below explains about
the details of what is and what is not covered.
The Basics
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) offers flight training benefits to service members who want
to achieve advanced pilot qualifications. First, the candidate must already have a private pilot s license
and must have completed the mandatory medical exam. The aviation school must submit verification
of enrollment and proof of graduation to the VA in order for the tuition to be reimbursed. Only certain
types of flight training are covered, such as B747 400, rotary wing, dual engine and flight engineer
programs.
Older Benefit Bills
While service members must adhere to the basic benefit participation requirements, the actual
payment amount depends on the specific bill and aviation school. For example, any 2015 payments
which fall under the older the Montgomery Bill (MGIB) will cover service members enlisted for over
three years at $1,789 every month and those enlisted less than three years at $1,454 every month. In

This is because they constantly keep their shelf stock moving. This is shown by the SKU (stock

of new products. Therefore brand loyalty will not be as high for Trader Joe s. Trader Joe s keeps their
costs per unit down achieving exceptional economies of scale. All of these barriers to enter the market
make it difficult for new entrants trying to enter the market. The second force that I will use to analyze
the Trader Joe s company is the the rivalry among established competitors . Factors to consider when
looking at the rivalries in the industry are industry demand, cost conditions, and exit barriers. Trader
Joe s competitors include The Kroger Co., Whole Foods Market, and Safewat Inc., and all super
markets in general (Llopis, 2011). With that said, there seems to be a high demand for what Trader Joe

evidence pointed to a lot of people, but then there was evidence that pointed to someone else. The

Essay on Discrimination of Sikhs in India
For decades without end, members of the Sikh faith have suffered countless injustices at the hands of
their fellow countrymen. The Sikh religion was started in India during the fifteenth century by the first
guru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The Sikh were a peace loving people who spread messages of freedom
and equality. They even went as far as too risk their lives to help out other religions. Despite all this in
the past century the decedents of the very people the Sikhs sacrificed and continue to sacrifice
themselves to save have turned their back on them. India reduced Sikh s to second class citizens, and

both economically and socially. Instead of receiving even the minimal amount of government help,
Sikhs began facing economical, social, religious discrimination. Punjab s agriculture industry was
completely broken by the central government. Farmers faced unjustly higher taxes on their produce
and had lower selling prices forced on their crops. the central government even went as far to banning
selling their produce in other states because that would give them higher prices for their labour. Even
the electricity produced in Punjab by dams in Punjab was not given to them, majority of it was
diverted to neighbouring states and the small amounts given to them still cost more, a problem that
still exists today. In addition to this seventy five percent of the water available in Punjab is given to
other states. Also seventy percent of revenues produced by the people of Punjab to improve their states

The Federal budget process is like our budget but federal, the federal budget can be compared to a
personal budget. A personal budget allows and individual to limit and spend a certain amount of
money or on household items, goods and services. The government s budget works in the same way as
our s does, the government has to spend their money in three different areas, these area are mandatory
spending, discretionary spending, and interest on debt. If the government exceeds their budget amount
they will have to cut some of their spending cost to some areas. An example of exceeding cost would
be when we exceed are budget on groceries or items for are home, if these does happen will have to

Marketing Plan For Grocery Markets

There is an ongoing competition for grocery markets offering natural products for lower prices. Top
competing grocery markets have followed trends to lower prices, but this may become a problem in
the future. Customers may be concerned with the high costs of products; consequently they perceive
these same products with lower values. According to BusinessDictionary.com, perceived value Is
defined as a customer s opinion of a product s value to him or her (WWWebTek). Customers evenly
match price with value. If the products cost is low the quality in the product will be perceived as a
lower quality. Perceived value may be seen as three of the following levels: not enough value with low

The problem remains that we struggle to maintain a competitive advantage, when stores like Sprouts,
Costco, and Trader Joes continually lowering their prices meanwhile our prices remain the same. I
propose a real and practical suggestion that will fix our continuous struggle against our intrusive
competitors, by improving our price perception.
Overview
Improving our price perception can fix our current conflict with our aggressive competitors in the
market to sale natural foods. For a while our company has been referred to as The Whole Pay Check ,
because of our high prices for natural products (Npr.org). Unfortunately, we have been perceived this
way because of our prices and that is something we aim to change. We must focus on improving our
price perception instead of reducing our prices. As a company, We recognize we need to move faster
and go deeper to rebuild traffic and sales and create a solid foundation for our long term profitable
growth, said Mackey, who was recently named one of the world s best performing CEOs by the
Harvard Business Review ( Austin Business Journal). Our goals for the future demands a new change
that we should definitely accept this proposal to improve our price perception rather than lowering our
prices , which results in less growth and no competitive advantage.
Analysis
Our competitors also offer natural products, And if everyone is offering organic food, and most are

Detroit s Real Estate Market
The racial undertones of Detroit have been extremely problematic to Detroit s real estate market for
well over 50 years. These social disruptions continue to have an effect on the current residents of
Detroit. During the middle of the nineteenth century, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA)
introduced real estate tactics such as redlining, which is the practice of flagging minority dense
neighborhoods for the purposes of denying approval of mortgages or inflating the price of the homes.
Redlining had a profound social and economic effect on all residents of Detroit. The white majority
began abandoning and selling their homes in fear that the value of the home would plummet, leading
to a great financial loss when minorities moved in the area. This idea is known as white flight, and is
the primary reason that Detroit has one of the highest African American populations in the country.
However, through revitalization and gentrification of the Midtown/Downtown area, Detroit is slowly
becoming more diverse. Throughout history, racial politics of the mid to late twentieth century
affected Detroit s real estate market by excluding minorities from the real estate market. Although
adding stadiums, high end retail, small shops, and restaurants is economically valuable to the city of
Detroit, this is conflicting and potentially problematic for the original residents of the area because the
prices of these new establishments are often much higher than the residents can afford.

peak of the Russian conflict and along the way, he composes the ten directives in 1917 called the April
Theses, which the people of Russia eventually follow with the promises of food, land, equality, and
peace, while the Soviets take charge. With the documentation of the April Theses, Lenin soon
becomes the pride leader of the Bolsheviks, aiming towards his goal of a socialist revolution. As a

Last Of The Mohicans Thesis
SECTION HEADER The main thesis I wanted to focus on and the only one that caught my attention
in this book would be Interracial love and friendships in The Last of the Mohicans, which was written
by James Cooper. The Last of the Mohicans is considered to be one of James Cooper s best work of
literature . The book happened to be set in 1757 but wasn t written until 1826 . I see the setting of the
book as one of the context clues because , 1757 was the fifties when race , segregation , and interracial
relationships were claimed to be a foreign and/ or abnormal thing to happen almost as if it was wrong.
The setting has also taken place during the French and Indian War. At this time of the war , the French

The second reason I chose this to be my thesis is because , growing up in an unsegregated
environment I myself ,and others have begun to lose sight of the blessing we have , being born into an
environment where we always have had the opportunity / chance to interact with other people outside
of our own race. Its unusual to be told that another race is better than or less than anyone else s, I
believe this is something that our future generation takes for granted and loses sight of . Doing
researches on this book , writing an essay for it , and just reading the book by itself has humbled me a
little bit and really has opened my eyes to realize that we do take our freedom for granted and that
goes for every race out there. The last reason I have chosen to write about interracial relationships
obtaining to the book is because, I would like to point out the good , genuine forbidden love between
Cora and Uncas , I really liked that they had a sort of Romeo and Juliet tragedy with them both being
younger adults , whose family are both enemies , they are both willing to do anything to be together
even if it cost their lives. They both believe that their race should not define them , or stop them from
falling in love with one each other . Some things I learned and hope others have learned from this
book is that things are not as they seem and that there is a picture behind the bigger picture.
Essentially what I m trying to say is that even though the colony / the people that they are governed by
sees race as a problem and that racial mixing should not be tolerated , this does not mean that
everyone there thinks like this , Some of the residents there are actually suffering because them being

How Far Was the Provisional Government Responsible for Its...
When the Provisional Government came into power Russia was in a state of major unrest. Russia had
just overthrown the Tsarist regime, which had been in place for three hundred years and there were
multiple groups who wanted to take power for themselves such as Lenin s Bolsheviks, they were
fighting in an endless war and losing terribly, peasants where rebelling in the countryside and the
people were angered over food shortages. On top of all these problems the Provisional Government
was made up of members of the Duma who had no experience actually being in charge or having
power over anything let alone the biggest and most culturally diverse country in the world. All these
factors played a role in the downfall of the Provisional Government but overall it was the Provisional
Government who played the biggest part in their own failure.
When started the Provisional Government was an interim government which was to govern Russia
until a new constitution was drawn up. But as soon as the Provisional Government was put in charge it
faced the immediate problem of legitimacy. It was made up of members of the Duma and was
dominated by members of the Octoberist and Kadet parties, who were minorities with only one radical
member, Alexander Kerensky. This would give the Provisional Government the problem of not truly
representing the people. If it was made up of minorities how can it represent the majority? The
Provisional Government also faced the problem of the All Russia Soviet. The

from becoming dated (15), gives each reader a different experience and have immense possibilities on
how to view Alex as a character. The question of human morality has been discussed and argued for
many years, and Anthony Burgess challenges the question of free will in A Clockwork Orange. First,
what exactly is human morality? In a the journal of Strong Reciprocity and the Roots of Human

better than groups of selfish individuals, and the fitness losses sustained by altruists were more than
compensated by the superior performance of the groups in which they congregated (Gintis, Henrich,

Maugham Canyon Essay
Bingham Canyon was settled in 1848 by the Bingham brothers, Thomas and Sanford, who were
ranchers with no mining experience. It has come along way since the Bingham brothers started mining
in Bingham Canyon. Today the mine is 2¾ miles across at the top and ¾ of a mile deep. You could
stack two Sears Towers (now known as the Willis building), on top of each other and still not reach the
top of the mine. About 30 to 40 million years ago, molten, metal bearing rock deep within the earth s
crust began to push toward the surface and formed Bingham s ore deposit. Volcanoes erupted above
the evolving ore body. This particular ore body contains primarily copper, gold, silver and
molybdenum. It all started when the Bingham brothers came to Utah and claimed the land now known
as Bingham Canyon, or the Kennicott Mine. Later in 1863, soldiers stationed at Fort Douglas in Salt
Lake City explored the canyon and discovered lead ore. Utah s first mining district was created in the
Bingham Canyon area that same year. In 1893, Daniel Jackling, a metallurgical engineer, and Robert
Gemmell, a mining engineer, studied the deposit and recommended developing the ore body through a
revolutionary open pit mining method and processing the ore on a large, industrial scale. ... Show

The World s Wife Carol Ann Duffy Analysis
The World s Wife is a collection of poems by Carol Anne Duffy published in 1999. Throughout Duffy
s collection of the poems she represents women from history, myths and fairy tales, particularly those
whose stories tend to be defined by men, or who have only a cameo appearance in male dominated
scenarios. The Worlds Wife collection explores the themes of sexism, inequality and stereotypes,
which women, sadly still face in modern society. In Duffy s collection some poems look at the story of
the man from a woman s perspective, such as the poem Mrs Aesop . Other poem s stories have been

At the end of the same sentence the speaker says you came at last at the edge of the woods. The full
stop of this sentence further emphasises the speaker s childhood ending because the whole sentence of
being innocent is coming to an end. This sentence also creates a lot of tension and excitement building
up within the speaker, as she is stepping out of her comfort zone. Little Red continues on saying I
made sure he spotted me. This line makes the speaker sound quite dominating as Little Red was
demanding the Wolf to watch her. Already we can get a sense of reversed roles, as stereotypically men
are seen as more dominating in relationships than woman, but it is Little Red who is dictating in their
relationship. Little Red towards the end of the poem, after 10 years of their relationship describes it as
year in, year out, season after season, same rhyme, same season. The constant repetition is an imagery
how bored Little Red is with her relationship with the greying wolf and that she desires something
new in her life, something more exciting. Also, the sibilance emphasises how irritated Little Red is
becoming towards her partner, as the s sound mirrors the sound of an evil snake, linking to the next
sentence when Little Red describes how she took an axe/to a willow to see how it wept. These two

Government Control In Harrison Bergeron
Does our government have too much control on us? Do we have too many rules to follow? Kurt
Vonnegut, the author of Harrison Bergeron, writes about how the government tries to take control of
everyone. In this story Vonnegut writes how the Handicapper General makes the smarter, prettier and
stronger people wear handicaps. Some readers may think Vonnegut is writing about civil
rights. However, throughout this paper I am going to prove them wrong. In Vonnegut s story Harrison
Bergeron went against government control by taking off his handicaps. In the story Harrison showed
his rebellion when Harrison tore straps of his handicaps harness like wet tissue paper, tore straps
guaranteed to support five thousands pounds (Vonnegut). This quote represents the refusing of
government control by not obeying the government.Bradshaw made it clear that nobody willl ... Show

When Perschon states We need to act like Harrison and rise up to cast off the handicaps that bring us
down to the level of mediocrity (Perschon) he is saying we need to rise up and fight against
government control. We might need to be punished for breaking the laws but death is a little too far.
Consequences will happen if you don t follow government control.Kurt Vonnegut is going against
government control in the story he is not fighting for civil rights. There is no such thing as a perfect
society.Everyone will be different no matter what the government does. In the story Harrison died
because he was going against government rule.We need some government control but to much control
is wrong. We need rules and laws but we also need our

Marcellus And Utica Shell And Fracking
Marcellus/Utica shell Fracking
What is Marcellus Shale? It is a marine sedimentary rock buried thousands of feet beneath the earths
surfaces. Sedimentary rock is one of the three main rock groups and is formed in four main ways: by
the deposition of the weathered remains of other rocks; by the accumulation and the consolidation of
sediments; by the deposition of the results of biogenic activity; and by precipitation from solution.
Marcellus Shale is found throughout the Allegheny Plateau region of the northern Appalachian basin
of North America. It stretches from upstate New York south through Pennsylvania to West Virginia
and west to parts of Ohio. Marcellus shale was named after a town in upstate New York, the rock itself
is millions of years old, formed from mud and other natural materials. Its made up of the formation of
black shale that may contain lime stone beds and concentrations of iron pyrite and siderite. The
Sedimentary beds and structure is very well developed. Lighter colored shales in the upper portion of
the formation tend to split into small thin edged fragments after exposure. The fragments may have
and leave rust stains from exposure of pyrite to air, and tiny gypsum crystals from the reaction
between both of the fragments pyrite and the limestone particles. Fresh exposures of the pyriteiferous
shale may develop the secondary mineralization of orange limonite and the pale yellow efflorescence
or bloom of sulfur, associated with acid

Genocide In Cambodia Essay
Cambodia is a country in Southeast Asia which is about half the size of California and was ruled by
the French until the Japanese could win the war. Cambodia borders the Gulf of Thailand,

gave Cambodia their independence on November 9, 1953. King Sihanouk formed his own political
movement in favor of his father from 1955 1970 then when his father died he named his movement

Khmer Rouge s interpretation of Leninist/Marxist/Maoist communist model made them believe that
they could mold a classless society by eliminating all the social classes apart from peasants who are

people died in the killing fields and more than a million died from starvation due to only eating 200
calories of rice each day. Those that complained about their labor or tasks were tortured in a detention
center like the infamous S 21, and the would be killed. The bones of the people who died are filled up
in mass graves all over the country. Pol Pot seized control of Cambodia and renaming the country

  • 2. Old Testament Exegetical Paper – Isaiah 62 The prophet Isaiah lived in the Southern Kingdom of Judah in the 3rd century B.C. He had a reputation as an uncompromising prophet who did not soften his words of condemnation and urge to make changes (Stafford 616). The nation of Judah stood in a precarious position: the wickedness of the people, the civil war which divided the Israelites into two kingdoms of Judah and Israel, the neighboring countries which stood by, threatening war and the dilemma that faced the leaders about whether or not they should take on allies all indicated the downfall of the nation of Judah if the people did not heed his words and change their ways. According to The Interpreter s Bible, Isaiah 62 was written in the later part of the prophet Isaiah s life. By ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most references to Zion take place in the books of Psalms, Lamentation and Isaiah. Its first appearance is in 2 Sam 5:6 as the stronghold of Zion . G.A. Barois points out that it need not be interpreted restrictively as a single building, but rather as the fortified crest of the hill between the valleys (959). The name ‘Zion has been suggested by many to designate the entire walled town that covered the southeast hill of Jerusalem. During the exile however, the whole of Judah came to be known as Zion. ‘Zion occupies synonymous parallelism with the noun ‘Jerusalem (not just the southeast hill) while sons of Zion and daughters of Zion implies the inhabitants of Jerusalem (Lam. 4:2, Isa. 10:32). In 1Kings 8:1,2 we read, out of the City of David which is Zion Hence we can correctly assume that both refer to the same place, which is Jerusalem. Since my chosen passage is about ‘Zion , it is good to be sure what exactly is being spoken about. Now that I ve mentioned Zion the city, I d like to cover another important aspect concerning cities that s mentioned several times in the Bible— watchmen. According to The NIV Exhaustive Concordance, the word ‘watchmen has been used 13 times in the Old Testament (the singular form, ‘watchman , has been used 16 times). This word is often used figuratively in the Bible, hence it is important to understand its particular meaning in the passage chosen. ‘Watchmen is mostly found in the books of ... Being limited by the Roman Catholic Church and government was no longer ideal, resulting in many new proposals. Of these proposals was the notion of wanting to change the Gregorian calendar to a new and non religious calendar, the Revolutionary calendar. This calendar was made strictly on reasons aimed to improve France and change previous rituals. With the new system of different months and days, the adoption of the calendar stimulated controversy between supporters of it and the opposition. Those in favor of the calendar argued that in order to fully break away from the old customs of France and the church, there must be a reform in all former things. This includes ... Adding onto this, the people of the lower class will have a harder time with the new ten days in a week. Working nine out of ten of those days doing hard labor is vigorous work that required all of their time. A peasant at this time would hate the Revolutionary calendar because having only one day to take a break is not enough for one to fully regenerate themselves after constant weeks of labor (Document 4). In addition, this calendar upset many because it was imposed on the people by force, no one previously had a problem with the Gregorian calendar (Document 5). Also, images of spiritual related objects will constantly be seen and since the people were accustomed to religion, practices and traditions will never fade away (Document 6). • 12. In Praise Of The F Word By Mary Shelly In Praise of the F word is a short story written by Mary Shelly which demonstrates the deficiencies within the educational system. No student should be allowed to move onto the following grade just because a teacher cannot tolerate him or her in the classroom. Shelly illustrates this within the story as she tells the reader that she is in agreeance with the teacher s policy of failing her students. Because of this the reader will realize that students should put in their maximum effort in the classroom instead of diminishing their studies. Once students grow up and move onto their responsibilities in the future, the ones who took school seriously will have an easier time handling those things rather than the ones who slacked off in school. Students should not be afraid to flunk classes because it matures them and prepares them for their future, and gives them a sense of accomplishment when they pass the class. To begin, using the F word to motivate students illustrates matures them as adults and prepares them to expect anything in the future. Fred Phillips from the University of Saskatchewan stated, when planning classes, accounting faculty make choices about pedagogies, content, and instructional design that affect the difficulty of students initial learning experiences. • 13. The Law On Attempt Offences The law on attempt offence is one of three principal crimes linked with inchoate offences the two other key ones being incitement and conspiracy. This essay will however only be focusing on and assessing the law on attempt offences. Attempt crimes can be classified in two different ways: the first one being when the original plan of a crime fails to succeed as consequence of an unforeseen factor. The second being when the bringing about of a crime fails due to a mistake from the offender s side. Both categories involve the perpetrator having taken actual steps towards committing the crime, but it failing for unexpected reasons. Simply put any attempt to bring about a crime is a crime in itself. This all sounds straightforward but in reality, it is far more complicated as what seems per instance, how do you go about, and why, at all, can someone be punished for a crime which was not even successfully committed those are questions worth asking. The reason that the conviction of an attempt crime is possible has to do with the fact that the accused has done their best in bringing about the crime. Ergo the mens rea was present, and it was merely external factors that prevented the crime from happening. Thus, the accused can still, and is still seen as a danger to society. Secondly, one should bear in mind that if this kind of interference was not possible, it would be virtually impossible for law enforcement to intervene in crimes that were at the early stages of ... Personification is present in the poem Strange Fruit when Meeropol writes For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck (10). Within the poem, Meeropol also includes juxtaposition, for example when he says Scent of magnolias sweet and fresh/ Then the sudden smell of burnin flesh (7 8). This is an example of juxtaposition because it brings out the difference between the sweet smell of a flower, and the bad dark smell of burning flesh, and it makes the difference between those things more apparent. These social disruptions continue to have an effect on the current residents of Detroit. During the middle of the nineteenth century, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) introduced real estate tactics such as redlining, which is the practice of flagging minority dense neighborhoods for the purposes of denying approval of mortgages or inflating the price of the homes. Redlining had a profound social and economic effect on all residents of Detroit. The white majority began abandoning and selling their homes in fear that the value of the home would plummet, leading to a great financial loss when minorities moved in the area. This idea is known as white flight, and is the primary reason that Detroit has one of the highest African American populations in the country. However, through revitalization and gentrification of the Midtown/Downtown area, Detroit is slowly becoming more diverse. Throughout history, racial politics of the mid to late twentieth century affected Detroit s real estate market by excluding minorities from the real estate market. Although adding stadiums, high end retail, small shops, and restaurants is economically valuable to the city of Detroit, this is conflicting and potentially problematic for the original residents of the area because the prices of these new establishments are often much higher than the residents can afford. ... Its unusual to be told that another race is better than or less than anyone else s, I believe this is something that our future generation takes for granted and loses sight of . Doing researches on this book , writing an essay for it , and just reading the book by itself has humbled me a little bit and really has opened my eyes to realize that we do take our freedom for granted and that goes for every race out there. It has come along way since the Bingham brothers started mining in Bingham Canyon. Today the mine is 2¾ miles across at the top and ¾ of a mile deep. You could stack two Sears Towers (now known as the Willis building), on top of each other and still not reach the top of the mine. About 30 to 40 million years ago, molten, metal bearing rock deep within the earth s crust began to push toward the surface and formed Bingham s ore deposit. Volcanoes erupted above the evolving ore body. This particular ore body contains primarily copper, gold, silver and molybdenum. It all started when the Bingham brothers came to Utah and claimed the land now known as Bingham Canyon, or the Kennicott Mine. Later in 1863, soldiers stationed at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City explored the canyon and discovered lead ore. Utah s first mining district was created in the Bingham Canyon area that same year.
