Freud s Theories Applied in Inception
In every great piece of art there is usually an inspiration of some sort that gave the artist influence on
their production. In contemporary society, we often see modern artists use influences from past
theories, ideas, designs, etc. Inception, the 2010 sci fi action film, is a movie about illegal spying by
entering the minds of certain individuals by sharing dreams. Dom Cobb and his partner, Arthur, use
this tactic to extract or plant desired information from or into their unconscious. Mr. Saito, an
exceedingly wealthy business owner, asks Cobb and Arthur to perform Inception (imbedding an idea
inside a person s mind without them recognizing) on his only remaining business competitor, Maurice
Fischer. Saito wants Cobb to implant the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second function of the dream, according to Freud, is to protect the dreamer s sleep from
disruptions in the sleep environment. It is obvious to see this attribute operating in the movie
Inception. While Cobb and his team go into the mind of another individual during a dream, they often
do it on comfortable chairs, beds, or recliners. It is one team member s job to make sure that the
dreamers are not woken up by anything, or in contradiction, they wake the dreamer up if the dream is
not going as planned. The team member awakens them by measures of a kick, or a means of falling.
When you dream and you get a feeling that you are falling, it often wakes you up in a jolt. Inception
shows various scenes where the team member staying back is trying extremely hard to protect the
dreamer s from awakening in their unconscious state. Freud strategized that the personality was
composed of three elements; the id, ego, and superego. The id is the component of personality that is
present from birth, and is exclusively unconscious. According to Freud, the id is the source of all
psychic energy, making it the primary component of personality (Cherry,1). On the other hand, the ego
is the element of the personality that is responsible with reality. According to Freud, the ego develops
from the id and ensures that the impulses of the id can be expressed in a manner acceptable in the real
world (Cherry, 1). It

Paul Laurence Dunbar And Maya Angelou Comparison
For each of us, freedom plays a very important role in this life. With me, I think there is nothing which
is greater than we are free to do what we want to do, dream what we want to dream or simply, eat
what we want to eat. We all worship freedom. I or Paul Laurence Dunbar and Maya Angelou do too.
Paul Laurence Dunbar and Maya Angelou expressed their freedom through their poems which are
Sympathy and Caged Bird in a very personal, dramatic and profound way. Although we were
published in two different times, I feel that these two poems also have harmonies in ideas or the way
the authors think about freedom in them. Besides, each of them contains their own characteristics
which make them have their own colors and meaning. During the civil rights era, the racism, that
horrible system that discriminates against people based on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maya Angelou and Paul Larence Dunbar were African American, who grew up in that era so they
experienced and felt the sadness and pain that Africa Americans when they became slaves for White
people received at that time. From the same feeling, the same inspiration, the poems express their
feeling when they used to face with that discrimination in their life every single day. The poems also
assert the importance of freedom and its value in life. Besides the coincidence of the subject and
circumstances of the birth of these two poems, there is another interesting similiar thing is that the
image of a bird which is trapped in a cage is used as a metaphor to symbolize African Americans who
suffered racial discrimination during this period. I feel this is a very interesting metaphor. That same
point also makes the poems special and have very personal beauty , not to be confused with other
poems. Birds are always associated as a symbol of freedom. Everyone

The Legacy Of The American Civil War
The American Civil War was the result of decades of sectional tensions between the North and South.
Over the next several months eleven southern states seceded and formed the Confederate States of
America. During the first two years of the war, Southern troops won numerous victories, but saw their
fortunes turned after losses at Gettysburg and Vicksburg in 1863. From then on, Northern forces
worked to conqueror the South, forcing them to surrender in April 1865.
The roots of the Civil War can be traced to increasing differences between the North and the South
and their growing divergence as the 19th century progressed. Among the issues were expansion of
slavery into the territories, the South s declining political power, states rights, ... Show more content

On the 21st, they met a Confederate army near Manassas and were defeated.
Following the defeat at Bull Run, Major General George McClellan was given command of the new
Union Army of the Potomac. In early 1862, he shifted south to attack Richmond through the
Peninsula. Moving slowly, he was forced to retreat after the Seven Days Battles. This campaign saw
the rise of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. After beating a Union army at Manassas, Lee began to
move north into Maryland. McClellan was sent to intercept and won a victory at Antietam on the 17th.
Unhappy with McClellan s slow pursuit of Lee, Lincoln gave command to Major General Ambrose
Burnside. In December, Burnside was beaten at Fredericksburg and replaced by Major General Joseph
Hooker. The following May, Lee engaged and defeated Hooker at Chancellorsville, VA.
In February 1862, forces under General Ulysses S. Grant captured Forts Henry Donelson. Two months
later he defeated a Confederate army at Shiloh, TN. On April 29, Union naval forces captured New
Orleans. To the east, Confederate General Braxton Bragg attempted to invade Kentucky, but was
repelled at Perryville on October 8. That December he was beaten again at Stones River, TN. Grant
now focused his attention on capturing Vicksburg and opening the Mississippi River. After a false
start, his troops swept through Mississippi on May 18, 1863.
In June of that same year, Lee began to move north towards

The Tempest Natives
The Tempest is a play that was written 118 years after Columbus famously sent his letter home in
1493. Shakespeare created a character in this play that conforms to the idea that the Europeans had
about native people during the time. The idea of a monstrous native came from details mentioned in
Christopher Columbus letter home to the king and queen of Spain. One common characteristic that
both Shakespeare s Caliban and the natives in Columbus letter share is that they are both depicted as
being uncivilized. Both Shakespeare s Caliban and the natives in Columbus letter are described as
being creatures to be feared of and taken control over. The natives are seen as uncivilized because they

Shakespeare takes the images that Columbus planted in Europe s mind about the new world he had
founded and turned it into a character of his own. Trinculo describes Caliban as a strange fish upon
him discovering Caliban under his cloak (2.2.28). Shakespeare writes that Caliban is legged like a

Economic Inequality In The United States Has Risen And
Economic inequality in the United States has risen and absolute growth has slowed over the past half
century. This growing level of inequality sparks in a wave of support for redistribution. The U.S. s
inability to redistribute to the bottom quartile of the income distribution results a multitude of factors
that explain why people would support or oppose redistribution. An explanation of economic
inequality involves the argument that the wealthy have the needed resources in order to flourish in
achieving political decisions that they favor, through campaign contributions and other forms of
economic influence (Gelman 1213). The proposal for this paper is that there is a factor that is
unaccounted for, in which it is possibly impacting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the U.S., they computed the probability that individuals in different income brackets will reach
levels of income in the future which will make them net losers from redistribution (Alesina, Glaeser,
and Sacerdote 19). They make the claim that the probability of upward mobility is major predictor of
one s support for redistribution.
The second factor explains how social mobility for households is related in what influences the
support for redistribution. The result of this is that families would have to achieve social mobility and
move up higher in the income distribution, rather than the distribution itself moving. In simple terms,
in the future, the growth in income is more likely to derive from income mobility as opposed to
baseline growth. Because of this, the consequence is that the increase in income for individuals would
typically come at the expense of other individuals.
The third factor explains how immigration can affect redistribution. For example, as there is a rise in
inequality, what occurs at the same time is the rise in immigration. This leads to the median voter s
household income deviate drastically from the median household income in the nation. The major
point is that low voter turnout amongst eligible voters is not driving the lack of redistribution in the
United States. Rather, the change has come in the large number of residents in the U.S. who lack
citizenship.

Data Collection Methods

ualitative researchers typically rely on four methods for gathering information: (a) participating in the
setting, (b) observing directly,
(c) interviewing in depth, and (d) analyzing documents and material culture. These form the core of
their inquiry the staples of the diet. Several secondary and specialized methods of data collection
supplement them. This chapter provides a brief discussion of the primary and the secondary methods

In this way, the researcher is able to discover the recurring patterns of behavior and relationships.
After these patterns are identified and described through early analysis of field notes, checklists
become more appropriate and context sensitive. Focused observation then is used at later stages of the
study, usually to see, for example, if analytic themes explain behavior and relationships over a long
time or in a variety of settings. Observation is a fundamental and highly important method in all
qualitative inquiry. It is used to discover complex interactions in natural social settings. Even in
studies using in depth interviews, observation plays an important role as the researcher notes the
interviewee s body language and affect in addition to her words. It is, however, a method that requires
a great deal of the researcher. Discomfort, uncomfortable ethical dilemmas and even danger, the
difficulty of managing a relatively unobtrusive role, and the challenge of identifying the big picture
while finely observing huge amounts of fast moving and complex behavior are just a few of the
challenges.
Whether a researcher is simply observing from afar or finding a participant observer role in the
setting, some contexts may present dangers. Street ethnography is a term that describes research
settings which can be dangerous, either physically or emotionally, such as working with the police (as

Abigail Williams Responsible For The Salem Witch Trials
The Crucible is a book about the Salem witch trials during the puritan times. The author is Arthur
Miller. In the book there are many questionable acts, but one main question is who is responsible for
the witch hysteria. Many people can be suspected, but, Abigail Williams is to blame for the Salem
witch trials and all the lives lost because of it. Abigail Williams is most responsible for the Salem
witch trials. Abigail started all the lies by saying Now look you. We danced. And Tituba conjured ruth
putnam s dead sister. And that is all (I.363 366). Abigail is telling all the girls the story that they have
to follow. She is basically threatening them so they won t tell the truth about what really happened.
She is convincing the other girls to lie. This is when Abigail became the ringleader of the lies. This
brings her powers, which she starts to use for revenge. Continuing on, Abigail won t let go of her
feelings for John and resents Elizabeth. She is still convinced John loves her when she says it s she put
me out, you cannot pretend it were you. I saw your face when she put me out, and you loved me then
and you love me now (I.425 429). Abigail is convinced that John still loves her and Elizabeth is
coming between them. This makes her grow more angry with Elizabeth and more desperate for John.
She uses this growing power and hate for revenge. Abigail accuses Elizabeth of witchcraft shortly
after this encounter. To add on, Abigail leads all the

Documentation In Healthcare
If it is not written, it was never done this mean that if it was not written down it could be lost and
forgotten as time goes by like if it never happened. You can only prove what you did by the
documentation that you do. If you don t document it, then you can t prove you did it. A proper
documentation is always important in a healthcare setting. By having incorrect information or no
information at all it may result in serious injury or death of a patient, that why it very important to
keep track of all information of a patient, not only to protect the patients but also to stay on the right
side of the law. The record is a legal document so everything that you write is memorialized
permanently and what you don t write is questioned forever.

A Bit of Earth by Suchen Christine Lim
Historical fiction is often able to provide readers with an understanding into past events through the
lives of the characters portrayed. Seen in Suchen Christine Lim s novel A Bit of Earth , we follow the
journey of the main protagonist Wong Tuck Heng. Through Tuck Heng s story, the novel provides a
chronicle of the Chinese immigrant story, depicting the social situation in nineteenth century Malaya.
The novel exemplifies the presence of anti colonialist feelings, the struggles amongst the various
communities living in Malaya, highlighting issues of racial differences as well as conflicts that arose
from the dichotomy of tradition and modernity. However, through the use of revisionist tactics, the
text attempts to intervene in history and the historical imagination , disturbing the comfort of received
knowledge and interrogating historical events for readers. (Poon, 2008) Thus, this essay seeks to
explore the history of Malaya through Lim s A Bit of Earth and understand how an alternative
perspective is presented in viewing characters from the past. Suchen Christine Lim s A Bit of Earth
depicts the lives of characters spanning across three generations, living within the period of nineteenth
to early twentieth century Malaya. The title of the novel A Bit of Earth creates a sense of
insignificance with regards to the earth , where land seems to be of minor importance to the characters
in the novel. Yet, this act of trivializing the value of land in the fictional

The Culinary World Of Culinary Arts
Burning sherbets, instantly frozen ice cream, pasta made out of jelly or vegetables, edible menus,
kitchens with sonicators, pH meters, liquid nitrogen, which can flash freeze almost anything, makes it
feel almost like magic or something out of a fantasy or science fiction novel. But it is not, in fact it is
part of culinary arts, where innovation has taken wings, and revolutionized the art and science of
cooking. Terms like culinary science, culinology and molecular gastronomy have become part of the
innovative culinary world. Innovation is communicated and translated into culinary arts, especially by
chefs and others involved in the industry through creative adaptations, like molecular gastronomy,
culinology, fusions, transformations, co creation etc. Innovation spans through different areas of the
culinary world and is not only limited to the process of cooking, but also to understand the consumers,
as well as to develop different utensils and incorporate other means of technology. (Várela, 2013)
In the world of innovative culinary arts, culinology, a term coined by Winston Riley, founder and
former president of the Research Chefs Association (RCA), is considered as the approach to food, that

3-D Printing Essay
Introduction
3 D printing is a relatively new technology compared to other manufacturing methods. It first showed

In the early 2000 s, breakthroughs occurred when working printed kidneys appeared and SLS
(selective laser sintering) machines became available. During late 2009, the early advocates finally
produced machines cheap enough but still capable of great precision and accuracy that were available
to the consumer. These machines can produce items of virtually anything with applications varying

Around 2010, 3 D printers became available to consumers in desktop form and their popularity

gun, which was fully functional. This simple but cutting edge piece of consumer technology became a
diadem in the eyes of hobbyists and small scale manufacturers alike while arousing concerns amongst
governmental and anti weapons activists as to the legality and safety issues 3 D printers posed. (Simon
Bradshaw)By now, anyone with only some designing inclinations could use freely available Google
SketchUp to create basic 3 D objects. Because of the applications of this wonderful technology, the
industry grew in leaps and bounds. With companies such as Boeing, Virgin Atlantic, Bentley, Delphi
and MTT investing into research and development, the estimated worth of the industry is currently
estimated at 2.2 billion dollars. (Jon Excell) Boeing s interest in 3 D printing comes from their desire
for complex, hard to manufacture parts for jet engines. In fact, Boeing uses 22 thousand different 3 D
printed parts across the broad range of their military aircraft. (Christopher Winnan) Healthcare is right

Eighteenth Century English Literature
Chapter III: Eighteenth Century English Literature
LITERATURE OF THE ENLIGHTENMENT
(18th century)
The 17th century was one of the most stormy periods of English history. The growing contradictions
between the new class, the bourgeoisie, and the old forces of feudalism brought about the English
Bourgeois Revolution in the 1640s. As a result of the revolution the king was dethroned and beheaded
and England was proclaimed a republic. Though very soon monarchy was restored, the position of the
bourgeoisie had changed.
The 18th century saw Great Britain rapidly growing into a capitalist country. It was an age of intensive

Such composition of the novel gave the author a chance to create an all embracing picture of the 18th
century England, to write a comic epopee as Fielding himself called the novel.
Fielding also worked out the theory of the novel. In the introductory chapters to the eighteen parts of
The History of Tom Jones he put forward the main requirements that the novel should meet: to imitate
life, to show the variety of human nature, to expose the roots and causes of man s shortcomings and to
indicate the ways of overcoming them.
3. Late Enlightenment (Sentimentalism) (1750 1780).
The writers of this period, like the Enlighteners of the first two periods, expressed the democratic
bourgeois tendencies of their time. They also tried to find a way out of the difficulties of the existing
order. However, while their predecessors believed in the force of intellect, they considered feelings (or
sentiments) most important. The principal representatives of sentimentalism in the genre of the novel
were Oliver Goldsmith (The Vicar of Wakefield) and Lawrence Sterne (Tristram Shandy, The
Sentimental Journey) and in drama Richard Sheridan (School for Scandal and other plays).

Very Tempting
During the 1800s, women were completely controlled by the men in their lives. Most of their fathers
controlled their lives in order to find them a good spouse. They had to behave a well manner to not be
looked down as a harlot or a slut. In Goblin Market by Christina Rossetti, the writer uses the goblins
as men tempting to give two woman sexual pleasure. In Alfred Tennyson s The Lady Shalott , he uses
an imprison woman to show how woman were supposed to behave in the 1800s. Both Rossetti and

Similarities Between Jekyll And Dr Moreau
Mad scientists are a popular trope in Western culture. These mad men of science are usually portrayed
as crazed and cruel men who would stop at nothing to get what they want, to the point where they will
hurt other living beings in order to get what they want. The mad scientist archetype existed back when
the first scientists began, when ancient peoples first started to employ the use of the scientific method.
The trope roared into popularity in the Victorian era, where many books such as Frankenstein, Doctor
Jekyll and Mister Hyde, and The Island of Doctor Moreau were published. These books had shaped
the public s perception of both scientific progress and scientists in general. In the books I have studied,
both Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While The Island of Doctor Moreau was a book that harshly criticized vivisections, Jekyll and Hyde
was more of a criticism to scientist at the time where Darwinism was first discovered and popularized.
Jekyll and Hyde focused on the personal ruin of one prideful and ambitious scientist while The Island
of Doctor Moreau had a scientist who had ruined the lives of many animals and a few men.
Furthermore, both books had the similar themes of man s inner monster and people s connection to
evolution. In Jekyll and Hyde, this inner monster was Hyde and in The Island of Doctor Moreau, this
monster was the beast men. This mean that both books held the common belief that men always
carried some sort of primal being inside of them, and that all men, even civilized scientists, can revert
back to that animal state. The books also held the common portrayal of the arrogant mad scientist,
where the archetypal mad man s hubris led to his own downfall and death. In Jekyll and Hyde, Jekyll s
creation of the blood red potion had literally turned him into a cowardly monster, a monster that drove
him to suicide. In The Island of Doctor Moreau, the mad doctor creates a race of beast men that turn
against their creator and murder him. Finally, both books become timeless in their message towards
people and scientists. The message both books give out is that science without ethics becomes more
akin to dark wizardry and evil

Caledonian Credit Company
Caledonian Credit Company (C.C.C)
Outcome DJ42 34 CCCCC
The managing director of C.C.C had asked me to answer the following 7 questions relating to
customer care/ focus and aftercare.
To understand what excellent customer care and the impact of both positive and negative experiences
can have on a customer, we must firstly understand what a customer is and secondly what Customer
Care is.
A customer can either be an individual or a business, on a daily basis we interact with customers both
internally and externally. Each customer will have a unique set of requirements and needs. For
external customers this could be to have bank accounts to save money in, ability to pay bills (Direct
debits etc), buy/sell shares, create pension ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To enable C.C.C to embrace this concept there needs to be a radical change in the management style.
Obstacles which will stand in the way of customer care would be poor communication, lack of
commitment from management, proper staff training and lack of resources.
The most appropriate style of management would be no.3 the Flat organisation. This will remove
some of the barriers between external and internal customers.
Question 4 overlaps with no.3, to remove some of the decision making levels of management means
that that front line staff need to have the ability and responsibility to make decisions and respond to
customer complaints in a manner which does not need to be authorised by the high level management.
An example of this could be charges placed on a customer s account for their account going
overdrawn due to an oversight. The front line staff can be given the authority to on individual cases to
refund those charges if they felt that it was more an oversight that intentionally abusing the overdraft
facility. In doing this it gives both the customer satisfaction and also the staff in that they are making a
difference helping C.C.C in attaining targets. Empowering the staff should also make the role of
management easier, if issues arise the managers can ask the staff how they think they can resolve or
improve services without them

Progressive Era Reform Essay
Through the years 1890 and 1920, many changes occurred. This time was called the Progressive Era,
and during the time period, there were new political and social changes. New laws that the public
wanted were enforced, and new opportunities came to a rise. Many of the changes that took place
affected a lot of people. During the progressive era, many political and social changes took place.
Some political changes that took place were the recall, direct election of senators, referendum, and the
initiative just to name a few. The recall was a process by which people may vote to remove an elected
official from office. This reform helped get rid of corrupt officials. Another political reform was the

Some of the social changes were women s rights, conservation, and minority groups fighting against
discrimination. Women s rights was a big thing back then. Women started entering higher professions
and becoming doctors and lawyers. They fought to protect women and children. They also raised
money for libraries, schools, and parks. In 1919, women got the right to vote after working hard for
several years. Conservation was really important back then and still is to this day. Conservation means
the protection of natural resources. Roosevelt loved the outdoors and worried about the destruction of
the wilderness, so he pressed for conservation. Roosevelt also had thousands of acres of land set aside
for national parks, which is a natural area protected and managed by the federal government. Minority
groups fighting against discrimination was also a social change that occurred in the progressive era.
Some of these minority groups were Mexican Americans, African Americans, Jewish Americans,
Asian Americans, and Catholics. The NAACP worked for equal rights for African Americans.
Mexican Americans formed mutualists, or mutual aid groups who helped each other. Catholics were
looked down upon and because of discrimination, the set up their own schools called parochial
schools, or schools sponsored by a church. Many of these minority groups just wanted to be treated
equally and not be judged. Those are some social changes that took place in the progressive

Castleton Tourism Case Study
In this case study I will be investigating the hypothesis Tourism in Castleton is managed effectively. I
will be investigating tourism in Castleton and how well they manage it, and the measures they take to
control it. I will then decide whether the hypothesis is true or false. I will answer the key question
Where is Castleton? because it is important to know the area and how easily accessed it is and just
how many tourists it gets because of its location. I will also answer the key question What issues
surround tourism and what impact does it have on certain areas? because it is important to know about
how much tourism Castleton gets to see if it even needs managing in the first place. I will also answer
What strategies are used to manage tourism? Because this will help to decide if Castleton does try to

Because of all these different ways of using land in National Parks, many conflicts have arisen in the

Buster Keaton Research Paper
The history of the American motion is heavily influenced by various dominant and prominent eras and
their stars. The era of silent comedy is such an impactful era. This era is often considered as the period
that changed the shape of the whole industry. Until that period of time, there were not any film star or
actor who had successfully redesigned comedy. But the base of the American motion was to undergo a
huge change. The scenario completely changed with the advent of three heavyweights of that era
namely Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and Harold Lloyd. All of these three actors had uniqueness in
their acting capabilities and styles. They produced quality work and became famous. These were the
three faces who changed the shape and direction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keaton had become a household and prominent name during the era of silent films. His first
appearance in the feature length comedy was in the movie titled The Saphead (1920). He was soon
awarded his own production company titled Buster Keaton Comedies. He starred in short films like
One Week (1920), The Playhouse (1921), Cops (1922), and The Electric House (1922). His acting was
acknowledged and gained appraisal from both audiences and critics. Then he decided to return back to
the feature films again. He starred in several acclaimed and renowned films like Our Hospitality
(1923), The Navigator (1924), Sherlock Jr. (1924), Seven Chances (1925), The General (1926),
Steamboat Bill Jr. (1928), and The Cameraman (1928). All of his films were unique and astonishing in
their own sense. Keaton impressed the audience with the consistency of stoic and deadpan
expressions. His expressions were as beautiful and as inhuman as a butterfly. There was hardly any
actor who used the method of expressionism with such high accuracy. He took this skill to a whole
new level. Most of his career progressed without any interruption. This clearly shows the passion and
dedication Keaton had for films. He was famous for his physical comedy. He was willing to sacrifice
his own safety for the sake of the film. The wide range of emotions he used was simply outstanding
and stunning. No one could take anything away from Keaton. He thought, produced and wrote his
own gags. He was also interested in depicting influencing incidents like he did in The General. This
film, depicting scenes of the Civil War, is arguably the best comedy film ever made. His use of parody
in multiple films represents his genius and his flexibility. He was not startled by anything. The rigid
look on his face, the reposed characteristic dignified his persona. He used the strategy of immediate

Essay on Dobbie the Duck
On a farm near the state of Oklahoma, there lived a little duck named Dobbles. Dobbles was the most
energetic, loud, and crazy duck on the farm. The pond near the farm was his favorite place to play. He
and his friends were always having fun and causing mischief at the pond. It was the perfect place to
cool off during the summer. One day when Dobbles went to the pond, none of his friends were there.
They met at that pond at the same time everyday, so he was very worried. Dobbles looked everywhere
for them. He looked behind their favorite log, near the tallest tree, in the water, and in the grass, but he

high school is worth $495,000 and a draft ready basketball player is worth more than $1.5 million to

Comparing Dostoyevsky s Leviathan And The Grand Inquisitor
Introduction
The books Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes and The Grand Inquisitor by Fyodor Dostoyevsky intensely
discuss the two authors one sided views on what they believe the state of nature is about. They
question whether human beings are authentic or inauthentic before or without having connections to a
political, religious, economic, or social group. In Leviathan, Hobbes writes about his perceptions on
the state of nature. He believes the state of nature is characterized by man against man, [M.A.
Soupios], where every person looks out for themselves and their well being first. This was during a
time where both Hobbes and Dostoyevsky were living in a turmoil century, there were constant and
violent conditions of hate, sneakiness and everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Sovereign should have the most power and that every man ought to endeavour peace, as far as he
has hope of obtaining it; and when he cannot obtain it, that he may seek and use all helps and
advantages of war. [p. 190] He strongly believes in control of a higher authority to maintain an ideal
state of nature, he believes that man fears and mistrusts every other man in the real world and that
there is no such thing as injury or justice, he even goes on to state that it is absurd . Hobbes believes
the Law of Nature is that the authority of the sovereign is absolute , in the sense that no authority is
above the sovereign and that its will is law. Hobbes says, that every man has a right to every thing;
even to one another s body. And therefore, as long as this natural right of every man to every thing
endureth, there can be no security to any man. [p.190] In this quote he means that in the state of nature
you have no (human) rights of property, self, and everyone else has a right to what you take as yours.
This goes alongside Hobbes controlled ideological views of an ideal state. Hobbes discuses the mutual
transferring of rights where a social contract subsequently leads man to leave the state of nature, and
enter into a contract to transfer the right to thing, exchanges of goods or land and money. He goes
against this as he feels that man may become dependent on things, subsequently it will threaten and
perhaps collapse the sovereignty because the power of it is compromised and wont be able to protect

Isolation In Disney Pixar s Film Brave
In the Disney Pixar animated film Brave, an unconventional princess, Merida, suffers from her own
isolation her entire life as she acts contrary to how traditional royalty should. However, her rift
between who she is and who she should be comes to a head when she puts a curse on her mother. Not
only does the movie take Merida on a journey of acceptance and learning, but forces Merida s mother,
the queen, to live in exile alone in her own mind as she is transformed into a bear. The meaning of this
mental isolation goes deeper than the surface themes of Brave, as Elinor nearly loses her humanity,
revealing the impact isolation can have on one s humanity and how dire meaningful relationships are
to a functioning society as a whole. Elinor s curse is first shown to expose this idea of isolation
equating to non humanity when she and Merida are hunting for their first meal away from the castle.
Shown to be unsuccessful in finding her own food as she tries to eat poisonous berries, Elinor is
characterized as someone who relies on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of humanity s essential qualities is to go against the grain, so to speak. Disney subtly shows this
ideal in every character from traditionalist Elinor entertaining Merida s childhood encounter with will
o the wisps to Merida s rebellion against her betrothal. So, in this way, Elinor s struggle to go so
against the grain to maintain her humanity is made more potent. If she had simply gone with what
nature told her, she would become a full fledged bear, unthinking and only relying on instinct. This
can be seen as a direct result of isolation as the lack of relationships with other higher thinking
humans takes away the need to rely on anything besides instincts; Elinor s mental isolation and
difficulty communicating with Merida removes her relationship, thus forcing her into a more
animalistic state to

outline the different forms of verbal and non-verbal...
Communication is the activity of conveying information through the exchange of thoughts, messages
or information; as by speech, visuals, signals, written work or behaviour. It is the meaningful
exchange of information between two or more living creatures. Communication requires a sender, a
message and a recipient although the receiver does not have to be present or aware of the sender s
intent to communicate at the time of communication thus communication can occur across vast
distances in time and space. Communication works in two systems which are verbal communication
and non verbal communication whose forms this essay seeks to outline and discuss. Verbal

Furthermore, it takes more time in composing a written message as compared to word of mouth and a
number of people struggle for writing ability.
On the other hand, the other system of communication is non verbal communication. Non verbal
communication is the sending or receiving of wordless messages. Therefore communication other than
oral and written, such as gesture, body language, posture, tone of voice or facial expressions is called
non verbal communication. According to Mehrabian (1972) non verbal communication describes the
process of conveying meaning in the form of non word messages . Non verbal communication helps
the receiver in interpreting the message received. Often, non verbal signals reflect the situation more
accurately than verbal messages. Sometimes non verbal responses contradict verbal communication
and hence affect the effectiveness of message.
More so, non verbal communication has three elements which are; appearance, body language and
sounds. Appearance includes the speaker, clothing, hairstyle, neatness and use of cosmetics, more so,
surrounding and furnishings. Body language includes facial expressions, gestures and postures.
Sounds includes voice tone, volume and speech rate. According to Martes (2011) forms of non verbal

The Importance Of City Elections In Canada
This paper will examine municipal elections in British Columbia, taking Surrey and Vancouver as
direct examples to show that a ward system would be a much more fair and democratic way to elect
city councils. Municipal elections in these two cities currently take place in an at large system. The
argument behind why this system is superior is that city councils have a more citywide approach to
representation, as opposed to a regional one. Many political scientists have argued that a ward system,
which splits cities into districts that are all represented by at least a single councillor, are a better way
to hold more democratic and representative elections. Because of the current lack of representation for
some lower income or underprivileged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goal of ward systems is to make sure that all sections of a city are equally represented by at least a
single councillor. Even though cities such as Vancouver have for some reason rejected it (as seen in
2004), it is a much more fair system to all citizens of a city. The at large system easily tends to favour
wealthier communities in a city. When taking Vancouver as an example, the Berger Commission of
2004 found that [it] is generally accepted that the majority of city councillors have been from the West
Side. As Rebecca Dhindsa puts it, the West Side is an area with higher incomes and less
unemployment than Vancouver s East Side. This shows that councillors tend to run from wealthier
segments of a city in at large systems. This can be because they may be more financially well off than
the candidates from the underprivileged sections, which can affect campaign financing, or as the
Berger Commission states, the richer and better educated have a greater chance of informing
themselves on civic issues and participating in political affairs. The defence that this system is better
for a council with a citywide focus is also largely false. Royce Koop and John Kraemer found that
many councillors in at large municipalities still favour a certain area. When interviewing Councillor
Bruce Hayne of Surrey, they were told this by him; I think everybody has some affinity to the
geography of where they live. I live in Cloverdale so I

Examples Of Romanticism In The Victorian Era
The Victorian era of British history (and that of the British Empire) was the period of Queen Victoria s
reign from 2o June 1837 until her death, on 22 January 19o1. It was a long period of peace, prosperity,
refined sensibilities and national self confidence for Britain. Some scholars date the beginning of the
period in terms of sensibilities and political concerns to the passage of the Reform Act 1832. Within
the fields of social history and literature, Victorianism refers to the study of late Victorian attitudes and
culture with a focus on the highly moralistic, straitlaced language and behaviour of Victorian morality.
The era followed the Georgian period and preceded the Edwardian period. The later half of the
Victorian age roughly coincided with the first portion of the Belle Époque era of continental Europe
and the Gilded Age of the United States.
Victorian literature is that produced during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837 19o1) or the Victorian

literature of the 2oth century. The 19th century is often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Darwin s ideas being assimilated into popular culture while Lamarck s work languished in obscurity.
Darwin s theory of Evolution proposed natural selection and adaptation , that an organism could only
change as a result of mutation , a change in the genotype and that mutation had to infer an advantage
in the environment (phenotype) to be selected and therefore passed on. This process according to
Darwin occurred below the level of consciousness [Darwin, 1859]. The organism is in essence
blocked off from its experience, leading to Weismann s idea of a barrier [Weismann, 1885] and the
central view of the genetic paradigm, which is reductionistic .
Lamarck s theory alternatively, is of transformational development, which results from the organism s
experience of its environment [Lamarck, 1809]. Its prerequisite is that of the organism being open to
the experiences of its environment. Interaction occurs at the genetic and environmental levels. Hence
logically leading to the Epigenetic paradigm, which supports the same holistic, arrangements proposed
by Lamarck [Burkhardt, 1977].
Two traditions with developmental implications were influenced as a result of the differing viewpoints
of Darwin and Lamarck; they were Genetic Determination and Epigenesis. Genetic Determination
sees human development as reaching an endpoint ; this is in essence preformational . The environment
is only there to explore where children s natural abilities lie. Development is

Ancient Greek Theater
Have you ever just wanted to kill your parents? Perhaps they are not letting you order a seventh slice

playwright Sophocles, was one of the many groundbreaking works to come out of fifth century BC
Greece. Works of ancient Greek theater, particularly Oedipus the King, embodied the spirit of
innovation that fifth century BC Athens was known for.

For a long time, only one actor was used, and often times the play s author himself would perform.
However, probably due to demand on a single actor s physique and voice, two actors were introduced.
Sophocles finally introduced a third actor, but three was the most Greek plays ever employed (Ley
25). Reminiscent of the dithyrambs from which they originated, Greek plays included a chorus of
anywhere from twelve to twenty four members who would provide poetic interludes and narrations
(Ley 22).
Theatric spectacle in Greece was not an everyday commodity. In fact, plays were only performed once
a year, at the Dionysia (Knox xx). For each of three days, sunrise to sunset, playgoers would sit
through three tragedies, a more lighthearted and whimsical satyr play, and a comedy. The tragedies
and the satyr play of the day would all be by the same poet, while the comedy was by a different
playwright (Knox xx). At the conclusion of the festival, awards would be given to the tragedians by a
panel of judges. Historians have no record on whether or not one of Simon Cowell s early ancestors
was on the panel.
Said to have often been awarded first prize, sometimes second, but never third in the Dionysia,
Sophocles is one of the most renowned and influential playwrights of not only his time, but of all time

321). Lastly, cloud system users also have to deal with the fact there could be an interruption of the
systems they use. It is expected by businesses and users for the systems to be available all the time,
but in reality power outages and server problems could make data retrieval and usage of the system
not possible (Laudon amp; Laudon, 2012, p. 321). The factors that contribute to the problem of the
distribution of data are the number of users of the programs. Having multiple distribution centers is
the way that cloud is able to have so many users and to store mass amounts of data. This also
contributes to the problem of tracking activities. The reason why some cloud providers do not (and do
not intend to) meet security requirements is the cost of audits. If a cloud provider does not have proof
of security requirements, they often have to have outside companies audit their data. Many providers
do not want outside companies viewing their data and it can be costly to hire someone to do this
(Laudon amp; Laudon, 2012, p. 321). Cloud computing is only as secure as the company using it is.
Even though cloud applications are secure and encrypted, it is the responsibility of the business using
the cloud systems to use encryption and other security measures. It is important that security measures

Warner Bros Fair Use Doctrine
The protection of intellectual property is important and necessary in order to promote progress. The
idea is that by trading exclusive rights to the creators of inventions and creative works in exchange
that the creative work or invention to be available to the public is mutually beneficial to both the rights
holder and society in general. By granting these rights, the creators and owners are able to benefit both
socially and financially from that which they created. This provides an incentive for people to pursue
the creation of and the investment in intellectual property. There are however limits to the rights of
such inventions and creative works. The Fair Use Doctrine recognizes and creates exceptions to
intellectual property law when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
was the source of Fortres Grand s Clean Slate product. At both the district court level and at the 7th
Circuit of Appeals, this argument was rejected. The court found that it was implausible that a
reasonable person would go to the fictitious website and believe that the product there was created and
marketed by Fortres Grand. Conversely, it was equally implausible that anyone going to the Fortres
Grand website would believe that the products there were produced by Warner Bros. As a result of this
finding, the courts did not need to go any further to address any First Amendment or Fair Use issues.
The court further found that the use of the term the clean slate in the movie was not a trademark
infringement. They found that the term is too broad in its meaning or application for its use to be
restricted in other endeavors such as the movie. It seems that what Fortres Grand was really concerned
about was trademark dilution. The claim would be that the use of the clean slate in its movies and on
the promotional website would damage the Clean Slate mark and make it less appealing to consumers.
This would only be valid if the mark was considered famous which Fortres Grand knew would not be
the case with their Clean Slate program. This is probably why they chose to purse the claim of
consumer confusion instead of trademark

Faith and Organized Religion Essay
Many skeptics in today s culture are convinced that organized religion does more harm than good.
Many of these people make persuasive arguments that are or can be conclusive. In some cases, they
say, a church, has too much power, is filled with politics and its rituals take away from God and put
emphasis on one s self; therefore, faith is what matters. In the novel A Portrait of The Artist as Young
Man by James Joyce, readers see Stephen go through life with faith, surrounded by others with faith
and religious activities. After a while, Steven loses sight of true faith, forgets God and becomes an
artist.
Faith is defined as the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. Many people
choose to either believe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The preacher then cautiously warns him that participating in this sin will take over his life. After this
confession, he found his faith and became a new man. Stephen began rituals, Sunday was dedicated to
the mystery of the Holy Trinity, Monday to the Holy Ghost, Tuesday to the Guardian Angel...
(Portrait, 103). Stephen immediately jumped from being only concerned with himself, doing nothing
for the Lord and engulfed in sin. Stephen even wore rosary, then at the end he lost faith. Stephen
consumed himself with acts and rituals so much that it could be said he lost faith. The rituals took him
away from God and put emphasis on what he wanted to be, an artist. The rituals of organized religion
pushed him to the edge.
As Stephen was in the transaction of sanctification, he started to go through the motions. Stephen did
everything according to feeling. For example, when he felt like he was not saved, he repented to gain
God s power. A restless feeling of guilt would always be present with him: he would confess, repent,
and be absolved, confess and repent again and be absolved fruitlessly (Portrait, 109). Stephen was
entirely in control of his own thoughts; he knew he could go back to the way he was at any second.
Stephen wanted to be free and to express himself for who he was and not who everyone wanted him to
be. After a long struggle between this ritualistic attitude, he felt tied to the rituals of his religion.

  • 2. Freud s Theories Applied in Inception In every great piece of art there is usually an inspiration of some sort that gave the artist influence on their production. In contemporary society, we often see modern artists use influences from past theories, ideas, designs, etc. Inception, the 2010 sci fi action film, is a movie about illegal spying by entering the minds of certain individuals by sharing dreams. Dom Cobb and his partner, Arthur, use this tactic to extract or plant desired information from or into their unconscious. Mr. Saito, an exceedingly wealthy business owner, asks Cobb and Arthur to perform Inception (imbedding an idea inside a person s mind without them recognizing) on his only remaining business competitor, Maurice Fischer. Saito wants Cobb to implant the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second function of the dream, according to Freud, is to protect the dreamer s sleep from disruptions in the sleep environment. It is obvious to see this attribute operating in the movie Inception. While Cobb and his team go into the mind of another individual during a dream, they often do it on comfortable chairs, beds, or recliners. It is one team member s job to make sure that the dreamers are not woken up by anything, or in contradiction, they wake the dreamer up if the dream is not going as planned. The team member awakens them by measures of a kick, or a means of falling. When you dream and you get a feeling that you are falling, it often wakes you up in a jolt. Inception shows various scenes where the team member staying back is trying extremely hard to protect the dreamer s from awakening in their unconscious state. Freud strategized that the personality was composed of three elements; the id, ego, and superego. The id is the component of personality that is present from birth, and is exclusively unconscious. According to Freud, the id is the source of all psychic energy, making it the primary component of personality (Cherry,1). On the other hand, the ego is the element of the personality that is responsible with reality. According to Freud, the ego develops from the id and ensures that the impulses of the id can be expressed in a manner acceptable in the real world (Cherry, 1). It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Paul Laurence Dunbar And Maya Angelou Comparison For each of us, freedom plays a very important role in this life. With me, I think there is nothing which is greater than we are free to do what we want to do, dream what we want to dream or simply, eat what we want to eat. We all worship freedom. I or Paul Laurence Dunbar and Maya Angelou do too. Paul Laurence Dunbar and Maya Angelou expressed their freedom through their poems which are Sympathy and Caged Bird in a very personal, dramatic and profound way. Although we were published in two different times, I feel that these two poems also have harmonies in ideas or the way the authors think about freedom in them. Besides, each of them contains their own characteristics which make them have their own colors and meaning. During the civil rights era, the racism, that horrible system that discriminates against people based on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Maya Angelou and Paul Larence Dunbar were African American, who grew up in that era so they experienced and felt the sadness and pain that Africa Americans when they became slaves for White people received at that time. From the same feeling, the same inspiration, the poems express their feeling when they used to face with that discrimination in their life every single day. The poems also assert the importance of freedom and its value in life. Besides the coincidence of the subject and circumstances of the birth of these two poems, there is another interesting similiar thing is that the image of a bird which is trapped in a cage is used as a metaphor to symbolize African Americans who suffered racial discrimination during this period. I feel this is a very interesting metaphor. That same point also makes the poems special and have very personal beauty , not to be confused with other poems. Birds are always associated as a symbol of freedom. Everyone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Legacy Of The American Civil War The American Civil War was the result of decades of sectional tensions between the North and South. Over the next several months eleven southern states seceded and formed the Confederate States of America. During the first two years of the war, Southern troops won numerous victories, but saw their fortunes turned after losses at Gettysburg and Vicksburg in 1863. From then on, Northern forces worked to conqueror the South, forcing them to surrender in April 1865. The roots of the Civil War can be traced to increasing differences between the North and the South and their growing divergence as the 19th century progressed. Among the issues were expansion of slavery into the territories, the South s declining political power, states rights, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the 21st, they met a Confederate army near Manassas and were defeated. Following the defeat at Bull Run, Major General George McClellan was given command of the new Union Army of the Potomac. In early 1862, he shifted south to attack Richmond through the Peninsula. Moving slowly, he was forced to retreat after the Seven Days Battles. This campaign saw the rise of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. After beating a Union army at Manassas, Lee began to move north into Maryland. McClellan was sent to intercept and won a victory at Antietam on the 17th. Unhappy with McClellan s slow pursuit of Lee, Lincoln gave command to Major General Ambrose Burnside. In December, Burnside was beaten at Fredericksburg and replaced by Major General Joseph Hooker. The following May, Lee engaged and defeated Hooker at Chancellorsville, VA. In February 1862, forces under General Ulysses S. Grant captured Forts Henry Donelson. Two months later he defeated a Confederate army at Shiloh, TN. On April 29, Union naval forces captured New Orleans. To the east, Confederate General Braxton Bragg attempted to invade Kentucky, but was repelled at Perryville on October 8. That December he was beaten again at Stones River, TN. Grant now focused his attention on capturing Vicksburg and opening the Mississippi River. Shakespeare created a character in this play that conforms to the idea that the Europeans had about native people during the time. The idea of a monstrous native came from details mentioned in Christopher Columbus letter home to the king and queen of Spain. One common characteristic that both Shakespeare s Caliban and the natives in Columbus letter share is that they are both depicted as being uncivilized. • 6. Economic Inequality In The United States Has Risen And Economic inequality in the United States has risen and absolute growth has slowed over the past half century. This growing level of inequality sparks in a wave of support for redistribution. The U.S. s inability to redistribute to the bottom quartile of the income distribution results a multitude of factors that explain why people would support or oppose redistribution. An explanation of economic inequality involves the argument that the wealthy have the needed resources in order to flourish in achieving political decisions that they favor, through campaign contributions and other forms of economic influence (Gelman 1213). The proposal for this paper is that there is a factor that is unaccounted for, in which it is possibly impacting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within the U.S., they computed the probability that individuals in different income brackets will reach levels of income in the future which will make them net losers from redistribution (Alesina, Glaeser, and Sacerdote 19). They make the claim that the probability of upward mobility is major predictor of one s support for redistribution. The second factor explains how social mobility for households is related in what influences the support for redistribution. The result of this is that families would have to achieve social mobility and move up higher in the income distribution, rather than the distribution itself moving. In simple terms, in the future, the growth in income is more likely to derive from income mobility as opposed to baseline growth. Because of this, the consequence is that the increase in income for individuals would typically come at the expense of other individuals. The third factor explains how immigration can affect redistribution. For example, as there is a rise in inequality, what occurs at the same time is the rise in immigration. This leads to the median voter s household income deviate drastically from the median household income in the nation. The major point is that low voter turnout amongst eligible voters is not driving the lack of redistribution in the United States. Rather, the change has come in the large number of residents in the U.S. who lack citizenship. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After these patterns are identified and described through early analysis of field notes, checklists become more appropriate and context sensitive. Focused observation then is used at later stages of the study, usually to see, for example, if analytic themes explain behavior and relationships over a long time or in a variety of settings. Observation is a fundamental and highly important method in all qualitative inquiry. It is used to discover complex interactions in natural social settings. Even in studies using in depth interviews, observation plays an important role as the researcher notes the interviewee s body language and affect in addition to her words. It is, however, a method that requires a great deal of the researcher. Discomfort, uncomfortable ethical dilemmas and even danger, the difficulty of managing a relatively unobtrusive role, and the challenge of identifying the big picture while finely observing huge amounts of fast moving and complex behavior are just a few of the challenges. • 11. A Bit of Earth by Suchen Christine Lim Historical fiction is often able to provide readers with an understanding into past events through the lives of the characters portrayed. Seen in Suchen Christine Lim s novel A Bit of Earth , we follow the journey of the main protagonist Wong Tuck Heng. Through Tuck Heng s story, the novel provides a chronicle of the Chinese immigrant story, depicting the social situation in nineteenth century Malaya. The novel exemplifies the presence of anti colonialist feelings, the struggles amongst the various communities living in Malaya, highlighting issues of racial differences as well as conflicts that arose from the dichotomy of tradition and modernity. However, through the use of revisionist tactics, the text attempts to intervene in history and the historical imagination , disturbing the comfort of received knowledge and interrogating historical events for readers. The argument behind why this system is superior is that city councils have a more citywide approach to representation, as opposed to a regional one. Many political scientists have argued that a ward system, which splits cities into districts that are all represented by at least a single councillor, are a better way to hold more democratic and representative elections. Because of the current lack of representation for some lower income or underprivileged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The goal of ward systems is to make sure that all sections of a city are equally represented by at least a single councillor. Even though cities such as Vancouver have for some reason rejected it (as seen in 2004), it is a much more fair system to all citizens of a city. The at large system easily tends to favour wealthier communities in a city. When taking Vancouver as an example, the Berger Commission of 2004 found that [it] is generally accepted that the majority of city councillors have been from the West Side. As Rebecca Dhindsa puts it, the West Side is an area with higher incomes and less unemployment than Vancouver s East Side. This shows that councillors tend to run from wealthier segments of a city in at large systems. This can be because they may be more financially well off than the candidates from the underprivileged sections, which can affect campaign financing, or as the Berger Commission states, the richer and better educated have a greater chance of informing themselves on civic issues and participating in political affairs. The defence that this system is better for a council with a citywide focus is also largely false. Royce Koop and John Kraemer found that many councillors in at large municipalities still favour a certain area. When interviewing Councillor Bruce Hayne of Surrey, they were told this by him; I think everybody has some affinity to the geography of where they live. I live in Cloverdale so I ... • 33. Examples Of Romanticism In The Victorian Era The Victorian era of British history (and that of the British Empire) was the period of Queen Victoria s reign from 2o June 1837 until her death, on 22 January 19o1. It was a long period of peace, prosperity, refined sensibilities and national self confidence for Britain. Some scholars date the beginning of the period in terms of sensibilities and political concerns to the passage of the Reform Act 1832. Within the fields of social history and literature, Victorianism refers to the study of late Victorian attitudes and culture with a focus on the highly moralistic, straitlaced language and behaviour of Victorian morality. The era followed the Georgian period and preceded the Edwardian period. The later half of the Victorian age roughly coincided with the first portion of the Belle Époque era of continental Europe and the Gilded Age of the United States. Victorian literature is that produced during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837 19o1) or the Victorian era. Darwin s theory of Evolution proposed natural selection and adaptation , that an organism could only change as a result of mutation , a change in the genotype and that mutation had to infer an advantage in the environment (phenotype) to be selected and therefore passed on. This process according to Darwin occurred below the level of consciousness [Darwin, 1859]. The organism is in essence blocked off from its experience, leading to Weismann s idea of a barrier [Weismann, 1885] and the central view of the genetic paradigm, which is reductionistic . Lamarck s theory alternatively, is of transformational development, which results from the organism s experience of its environment [Lamarck, 1809]. Its prerequisite is that of the organism being open to the experiences of its environment. Interaction occurs at the genetic and environmental levels. Hence logically leading to the Epigenetic paradigm, which supports the same holistic, arrangements proposed by Lamarck [Burkhardt, 1977]. Two traditions with developmental implications were influenced as a result of the differing viewpoints of Darwin and Lamarck; they were Genetic Determination and Epigenesis. Genetic Determination sees human development as reaching an endpoint ; this is in essence preformational . The environment is only there to explore where children s natural abilities lie. Cheese s, or not letting you hang out with that dreamy hunk Bryan on Saturday. For Oedipus, killing his parents was not something petty he threatened when he got too worked up, but rather his fate. This suspenseful and masterful plot, conceived by the legendary playwright Sophocles, was one of the many groundbreaking works to come out of fifth century BC Greece. Works of ancient Greek theater, particularly Oedipus the King, embodied the spirit of innovation that fifth century BC Athens was known for. For a long time, only one actor was used, and often times the play s author himself would perform. However, probably due to demand on a single actor s physique and voice, two actors were introduced. Sophocles finally introduced a third actor, but three was the most Greek plays ever employed (Ley 25). Reminiscent of the dithyrambs from which they originated, Greek plays included a chorus of anywhere from twelve to twenty four members who would provide poetic interludes and narrations (Ley 22). Theatric spectacle in Greece was not an everyday commodity. In fact, plays were only performed once a year, at the Dionysia (Knox xx). For each of three days, sunrise to sunset, playgoers would sit through three tragedies, a more lighthearted and whimsical satyr play, and a comedy. The tragedies and the satyr play of the day would all be by the same poet, while the comedy was by a different playwright (Knox xx). At the conclusion of the festival, awards would be given to the tragedians by a panel of judges. Historians have no record on whether or not one of Simon Cowell s early ancestors was on the panel. Said to have often been awarded first prize, sometimes second, but never third in the Dionysia, Sophocles is one of the most renowned and influential playwrights of not only his time, but of all time (Ley 35). Lastly, cloud system users also have to deal with the fact there could be an interruption of the systems they use. It is expected by businesses and users for the systems to be available all the time, but in reality power outages and server problems could make data retrieval and usage of the system not possible (Laudon amp; Laudon, 2012, p. 321). The factors that contribute to the problem of the distribution of data are the number of users of the programs. Having multiple distribution centers is the way that cloud is able to have so many users and to store mass amounts of data. This also contributes to the problem of tracking activities. The reason why some cloud providers do not (and do not intend to) meet security requirements is the cost of audits. If a cloud provider does not have proof of security requirements, they often have to have outside companies audit their data. Many providers do not want outside companies viewing their data and it can be costly to hire someone to do this (Laudon amp; Laudon, 2012, p. 321). Cloud computing is only as secure as the company using it is. Even though cloud applications are secure and encrypted, it is the responsibility of the business using the cloud systems to use encryption and other security measures. It is important that security measures be used on the company s side, not just the provider s side (Laudon amp; Laudon, 2012, p. 321). If ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The idea is that by trading exclusive rights to the creators of inventions and creative works in exchange that the creative work or invention to be available to the public is mutually beneficial to both the rights holder and society in general. By granting these rights, the creators and owners are able to benefit both socially and financially from that which they created. The court found that it was implausible that a reasonable person would go to the fictitious website and believe that the product there was created and marketed by Fortres Grand. Conversely, it was equally implausible that anyone going to the Fortres Grand website would believe that the products there were produced by Warner Bros. As a result of this finding, the courts did not need to go any further to address any First Amendment or Fair Use issues. The court further found that the use of the term the clean slate in the movie was not a trademark infringement. They found that the term is too broad in its meaning or application for its use to be restricted in other endeavors such as the movie. It seems that what Fortres Grand was really concerned about was trademark dilution. The claim would be that the use of the clean slate in its movies and on the promotional website would damage the Clean Slate mark and make it less appealing to consumers. Many of these people make persuasive arguments that are or can be conclusive. In some cases, they say, a church, has too much power, is filled with politics and its rituals take away from God and put emphasis on one s self; therefore, faith is what matters. In the novel A Portrait of The Artist as Young Man by James Joyce, readers see Stephen go through life with faith, surrounded by others with faith and religious activities. Stephen immediately jumped from being only concerned with himself, doing nothing for the Lord and engulfed in sin. Stephen even wore rosary, then at the end he lost faith. Stephen consumed himself with acts and rituals so much that it could be said he lost faith. The rituals took him away from God and put emphasis on what he wanted to be, an artist. The rituals of organized religion pushed him to the edge. As Stephen was in the transaction of sanctification, he started to go through the motions. Stephen did everything according to feeling. For example, when he felt like he was not saved, he repented to gain God s power. A restless feeling of guilt would always be present with him: he would confess, repent, and be absolved, confess and repent again and be absolved fruitlessly (Portrait, 109). Stephen was entirely in control of his own thoughts; he knew he could go back to the way he was at any second. Stephen wanted to be free and to express himself for who he was and not who everyone wanted him to be.
