It can be quite difficult to describe how you view the world around you. A way to do just that could be
to analyze how you view a specific film or piece of literature, describe how it makes you feel, and see
what that says about you as a person. As such, I will analyze my view on the movie, Schindler s List ,
one of my favorite movies. The movie is about Oskar Schindler who uses World War 2 as an
opportunity to make money as a manufacturer. He is a very smart and likeable businessman who
knows how to use his money and charisma to influence others. He manages to start his manufactory
near the Krakow ghetto and uses the inhabitants of it for cheap labor. Schindler changes throughout
the film, starting as selfish and ending up very selfless. His accountant, also a jew, takes hiring as his
responsibility and uses it to save people from being shipped to concentration camps. Schindler is
initially mad at this revelation but soon comes to realize the good it does and allows this to continue
and expand, demonstrating how he changes. Towards the end of the movie, he ends up saving over
eleven hundred jews, and his only regret that brings him to tears is that he feels he could have saved
more. This film demonstrates to me that people are responsible for their own actions, evil is inherent
in this world, and distrust in authority can be good and necessary. I believe people are responsible for

for my parents to say things to this effect. You get what you deserve and you get out what you put in

The feeling of sitting down in a dark movie theater with a bucket of buttered popcorn and your
favorite drink is a common experience for most Americans. The lights dim down and the theater is
filled with music; whether it s intense battle music, sweet soft ballets, or a somber melody, the music
sets the mood. What most people don t know is that just over four percent of the musicians in
American orchestras are of black or Latino decent, a statistic that hasn t gone through much change in
the last decade. This leads us to wonder why classical music is so racist. The four main issues with
racism in the classical music industry today are the low percent of minority s in the United States and
Britain, the lack of classical music opportunities in inner city schools, low advertisement of classical
music to minority s, and an unjust audition and commissioning process. In the United States, there are
117 symphony orchestras, and only four percent of those orchestras are made up of black or Latino
musicians(WQXR). The first issue of racism in classical music are the remarkably low percentages of

needed in the EBSco search. This gave me the selection of choices for my topic. One reason for this is

my research. I can use sources online, but one has to be very careful because some sources are not
scholarly reviewed, and may contain unsubstantiated claims not backed up by empirical research.
