Sharks In La Reunion
It looks like the main problem in La Reunion is that now it s being surrounded by sharks. People
are having a problem with this beause before they were able to go out in the water and swim or
surf, what ever they wanted to do, but now it s surrounded by sharks which stops them from
being capable of going in the water. Many people have been killed because of the sharks, but
there are still some people that decide that they want to risk their lives and go in the water. This
also causes a problem within the society because the people that choose to go in the water are
disobeying any rules that apply to the problem with the sharks. Not only that, but this can also
cause people to argue with each other because everyone will have a different opinion

What Is The Black Arts Movement
The Black Arts Movement began in 1965 after the assignation of Malcolm X. Richard Powell
explains in his book Black Art; A cultural History that
those who embraced the Black Power movement often fell into one of two camps: the
Revolutionary Nationalists, who were best represented by the Black Panther Party, and the
Cultural Nationalists. The latter group called for the creation of poetry, novels, visual arts, and
theater to reflect pride in black history and culture. This new emphasis was an affirmation of the
autonomy of black artists to create black art for black people as a means to awaken black
consciousness and achieve liberation.
These Cultural Nationalist where inspired to created their own art institutions and spread it thought

Examples Of Frankenstein Or The Modern Prometheus
In Frankenstein or, The Modern Prometheus , the author, Mary Shelley demonstrates the idea that a
creator, in this case, a scientist, is responsible for its creation in the sense that it s responsible for its
actions during its early stages of existence in the world. In the story and throughout several
nonfiction sources, authors show the concept that the creator is responsible for it s creation/product
since it creates a new type of responsibility towards the scientist him/herself, toward the product
/creation, and to the scientists family. Frankensteinwas unable to demonstrate responsibility with
these three, which is the main reason why the creature became so aggressive and rageful. The
reason for this was mainly the fact that Doctor Frankenstein is selfish and only thinks of himself,
and not of how his actions can severely impact people around him. This concept is also
demonstrated in our modern world through how scientists today are being cautious with new
inventions and products, such as CRISPR, which is a system that scientists can use to modify
human genomes. Scientists today are also making sure that they are monitoring their inventions and
making sure that they are responsible for whatever they are doing.
Throughout Frankenstein , Mary Shelley demonstrates how a creator is responsible for its creation
in the sense that the scientist also becomes responsible for himself. In the story, as Dr. Frankenstein
begins his project, which was to create a creature out of

Iris Running Crane: December 2009
Iris Running Crane, HBS Class of 2010, shook the rain and soggy snow off her umbrella as she
entered the lobby of Soldiers Field Park on a dark December night in 2009. Oh the weather outside
is frightful, she whistled as she took the elevator to her apartment.
Back home on the Blackfeet reservation in East Glacier, Montana, the wind would be howling
down from Canada, driving temperatures well below zero. Tonight, though, Iris had more important
things to think about than comparative climatology. Through a combination of preparation,

While LBO returns had outpaced those to venture capital during the 1980s, the pattern reversed
itself in the 90s, only to change again in 2000 and in
2007.
Starting in the early 2000s, LBO firms had enjoyed ready access to low priced debt and had
generated average returns of 15.6% between 2003 and 2006, compared to 9.9% for the Standard
Poor s index and single digits for VC.3 Accordingly, LPs flocked to invest in LBOs, which raised
$344 billion in 2008, while VC funds raised only $63 billion.4 Records fell for largest LBO deal
(the acquisition of Texas utility TXU by Texas Pacific Group, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, and
Goldman
Sachs for $45 billion)5 and largest fund raised (Blackstone s $21 billion Corporate Private Equity

VC firms, which had spent the first few years of the 2000s recovering from the telecom and
Internet bubbles, had little to crow about despite such high profile successes as Google s 2004
initial public offering (IPO). Fundraising recovered from 2002 s nadir of $12 billion, but
comparisons to the anomalous activity of 1999 and 2000 made for a sobering return to reality.
Figures for LBO activity in 2008 indicated the peak of a cycle, and the bust followed shortly
thereafter, as the global financial crisis shut off the supply of cheap debt for LBO deals. Such loans

Essay on Teen Pregnancy
It has been said that teens across the world have not been receiving enough sex education. This
has led to many issues with teens becoming pregnant, which most of the time is unanticipated.
Teenage pregnancy has been a social problem throughout the world for a number of decades
now. Many studies have been completed in several countries that pertain to the amount of teens
and the types of teens who are becoming pregnant. Rates among teens had been declining for
some time, but are starting to take a turn and increase. This is still a significant social problem,
though some people do not perceive it like it is. There are various reasons as to why this is such a
large social problem. There is not a clear answer as to why teens are... Show more content on

According to an American study, 750,000 girls get pregnant each year, 31% of teenage girls get
pregnant at least once before the turn 20, and the federal government spends about $7 billion to
help families that originate with a teen mother (Gilbert, 2007). Studies have shown throughout these
countries that America still has the highest rate of teen pregnancy. In Canada, the teen birth rate
declined from 35.7 per 1000 in 1974 to 14.4 in 2003 (McKay, 2006). This statement was made
referring to the United States, Since the teen birthrate is on the rise for the first time in 15 years, it
is critically important to focus resources and attention on this problem (Docksai, 2010). The teen
birthrates maybe declining in other territories around the world, but the U.S. is starting to see an
increase.
Many people believe that anyone that becomes a teen parent is someone who is coming from a
poor or broken home, but this is definitely not the case. A survey that was completed in the
United States found that 41% of U.S. teen parents come from homes at or above 200% of the
federal poverty line, and 70% were raised in two parent homes (Docksai, 2010). This shows that
there are teens that are seen as normal to society becoming pregnant. The results of the numerous
people who completed the survey proved what a lot of other people thought about the home life of
a teen parent. Two thirds of U.S. adults assume that most teen parents were raised in homes

All That Witters Is Not Gold Analysis
All that Gitters is not Gold
Candide is a short François Marie Arouet who went by the alias Voltare. It starts by introducing
its main character a young man named Candide who is the illegitimate nephew of a German
baron. At first Candide lives a very privileged life of royalty and looks at the world very
optimistically especially since his mentor pangloss looks at the world the the same way and
influences Candide to be more optimistic. But Candide falls in love with the barons doughter and
they are caught kissing the baron banishes candide from his home this trigers a series of

that even in paradise corruption is possible as I mentioned before candide became greedy and
suffered because of it. When candide leaves Eldorado was a place where even the mud was
made of gold and the stones were jewels. The society is technologically advanced, and the people
are peaceful. There are no religious conflicts, and they don t even have a court system because
there is no crime. You would think Candide would consider himself in

The Problem Of Bad Debts
INTRODUCTION
The accumulation of huge NPA in banks has assumed great importance. The depth of the problem
of bad debts was first realised only in early 1990s. The magnitude of NPAs in banks and financial
institution is over Rs. 150000 cr.
So gross NPA reflects the quality of the loans made by banks, net NPA shows the actual burden of
banks. Now it is increasingly evident that the major defaulters are the big borrowers coming from
the initiative to reduce NPAs in a time bound strategic approach.
Public sector banks figure prominently in the debate not only because they dominate the banking
industries, but also since they have much larger NPAs compared with the private sector banks.
This raises a concern in the industry and academia because it is generally felt that NPAs reduce the
profitability of a banks, weaken its financial health and erode its solvency.
For the recovery of NPAs a board framework has evolved for the management of NPA under
which several options are provided for debt recovery and restructuring. Banks and FIs have the
freedom to design and implement their own policies for recovery and write off incorporating
compromise and negotiate settlements.
DEFINITION
An asset, including a leased asset, becomes non performing when it ceases to generate income for
the bank.
A non performing asset (NPA) was defined as a credit facility in respect of which the interest and
/ or instalment of principal has remained past due for a specified period of time.

A Young Man s Folly Short Summary
Sadly, not all marriages have good endings. This could be caused by several reasons, such as
falling out of love, neglect, or lack of communication. The latter is the main cause of the short
story A Young Man s Folly by Susan Michalicka. The story revolves around a modern family,
where a boy tries to deal with the loss of his father leaving him. Michalicka conveys the message
of: Sometimes when you re chasing something, you lose sight of what is really important very well
through the use of conflict, characterization and symbolism.
Conflict was used effectively in the short story to reveal the theme of the story. The boy has an
internal conflict about which parent to stay with, and because his father left, he seemed to have
favored him. He wanted him back so badly that every night, he watches him on the six o clock
news while wearing his old jackets. He was blinded by his father s sudden departure that he forgot
about what is really important. Additionally, another development in the short story s conflict has
been used effectively to reveal the theme. When the boy went to Macdonald s to see his father s
true colors, he thought: I finished my drink quickly, thankful that he had to be back in the studio
for the news. By the time he saw his dad for the first time in a while, he knew he was not the man
he thought he was. At that moment, he also realized that he lost sight of what he had all this time:
His mother s unconditional love. If it wasn t for the characterization of

Reasons For Banning Pitbulls
Pit bulls should not be banned. In recent years, bans have been put on Pit bulls in many areas.
Because of some bad dog owners that may train these dogs to attack or fight, few people view
Pitbulls as kind and loving pets. Most people have negative opinions about them because of what
they see on the news With a little education and some positive exposure, more of us would see just
how wonderful these dogs can be. Pitbulls are extremely protective. They are most likely to bark
at you, or maybe even growl. Its most common to have them bark at you, not for no reason, but
because they are trying to protect their owner. Yes, dogs bark for unnecessary reasons like the

Incest and Sexism in Hamlet
In my readings of Hamlet, sexism was a immense element in the story. It is not fairly
unambiguous where the incest comes in and who is involved, but the unorthodox relationships
that have taken place shows how things were during the Elizabethan Age, or were they? My goal
in this paper is to research the gender roles between the males and females in the story and to
prove how women were treated during these times, and to determine who was involved in incest
and sexism. The characters in focus will be Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, and son of the deceased
King Hamlet; Polonius, counselor to Claudius; Laertes, Polonius son who has returned home due to
King Hamlet s death; Gertrude, Hamlet s mother and Queen of Denmark; and Ophelia, daughter of

In the relationship between her and Hamlet, he desired her like bait. He only showed lust for
her, and wanted her to fulfill his sexual desires. The majority of the critics have viewed Ophelia
as a week character, in both form and function, and many have dismissed her as a woman ... she
has been consistently viewed as the least complex of the principal characters of Hamlet, the least
useful. (Resetarits). Ophelia loses her identity as a woman as she becomes a pawn to the men.
Incest flows abundantly through this play like no other. The relationship between Claudius and
Gertrude could be considered incest from Hamlet s perspective even though they are not blood
related. He sees his blood uncle and his blood mother together which tortured his conscience.
Why did the thought of his mother having sex deter him so bad? Did Hamlet want to look to his
mother for sexual comfort? Hamlet was said to have Oedipus Complex which is explained as
every sons supposed desire to kill his father and have sex with his mother. Whether this is the case
is unsure the reason for him to be

Summary Of On Natural Death By Lewis Thomas
On Natural Death
In his essay On Natural Death , research pathologist, medical doctor, and biologist Lewis Thomas
attempts to console the reader about the weighty topic of death by referencing his own
observations, citing scientific facts and statistics, and using the universal fear and unknown of
eternal rest. Thomas first points to the example of the unforeseen death of an elm tree in his own
backyard. The death of an inanimate lifeform is something with which most people are familiar and
probably even comfortable. This first hand experience displays a situation in which death is quick
and free of pain. It also shows how quickly death can tranpire; in this situation, the tree appeared
to be in perfect health just a week before its sudden passing. The story of a dying mouse displays
Thomas s own sorrow at the demise of a fellow mammal and former participant in life. The reader
is naturally brought to empathize with Thomas s sentiments by his use of firsthand emotions and
experiences. Thomas even calls upon the reader to understand the feelings of the mouse itself by
describing what the experience likely felt to the mouse painless to the extent that the mouse is
inclined to shrug. Another of his observations is that of two soldiers unfortunate fatalities after
being in a mortal automobile accident. This example brings the reality of death even closer to the
reader, as this time the it is experienced by human beings not unlike the reader. This situation is
akin to that

Mike s Struggle With Alcohol Abuse
Alcoholism has little to do with what kind of alcohol one drinks, how long one has been
drinking, or even exactly how much alcohol one consumes. But it has a great deal to do with a
person s uncontrollable need for alcohol. Did you know that 88,000 deaths a year are attributed to
excessive alcohol abuse? Today, you will be hearing about a young gentle man just at the age of 22
that struggles with alcohol addictionand how it has affected his future. His name is Mike, a

There are 5 steps I recommend for Mike to continue his stoppage with alcohol. First, identify
your reasons. Find your why of why you want to change and continue the progress of having a
clean life. For Mike, baseball, school, and family is something he is passionate about so he will
base his life around those three whys and make them priorities. Second, make a plan. Have a
vision of what you want and go get it. Have a reminder around you at all times to make sure you
stay motivated in your progress. Mike decided to get a Rocky poster put above his bed at school
to wake up to, and remind him to conquer the day. Third, share your plan with others. People
who hide their problems from people are more likely to fall in those same patterns again. Take
pride in your change, and share with others your mission and how you are going to improve your
life. Mike wanted to change his physical body as a replacement of drinking, so he replaced his
beer gut with ten pounds of muscle. Fourth, evaluate your progress. Each week evaluate your
short team goals and stay on tract. Short term success leads to long term success. You can make
a leap of faith but it won t happen in one night. Mike is constantly reminding himself to Trust the
Process. Learn from the pass and have faith for the future. Lastly, continue your new behaviors.
After trying this plan for 30 days, try it for another 30 days. Like anything else in life, it is not
easy to change behavior, even when it might be in your best interest. Mike is sticking to his main
priorities which are baseball, school, and family which are helping him stay on tract while his

Evil Natures In Lord Of The Flies By William Golding
Every human has different attributes and abilities, but under the circumstance between death and
survival the evil natures of human beings seem to show. In William Golding s novel, Lord of the
flies he displays many different signs on how there s evil natures in every human being. Jack
represents eviland violence, Roger represents strength and humansavagery, the group of boys
represented cruelty inhuman actions, Kill the pig! Cut his throat! Kill the pig! Bash him in.
Firstly, Roger a young boy who had been stranded on the island with the group of children
displayed many times the evil natures in human beings. Roger feels no remorse for his action
and when the group frees Roger from the restraints of decency, an effect he feels as a sense of
delirious abandonment which essentially is a big part in his later on actions. Roger was the
offender during Piggy s death, as Ralph was assisting Piggy with finding his glasses, as he can t
see without them. Roger decides to plan out a first degree murder as he pushes the rock onto Piggy
which unfortunately results in the cause to his death, The desire to squeeze and hurt was over
mastering. Roger is one who enjoys the harm of others, and essentially just likes to hurt people as
he displayed evil natures just in his personality through this whole novel. As Roger displays
another act of evil as he throws stones at Henry as he was walking down the shoreline of the
island, with the pure mindset of evil itself.

Chaumapsipho Brunnea And Sirens Rock Research Paper
Distribution of Chamapsipho brunneas and Lepsiella Scobina at Sirens Rock
In Order to analyse the Distribution of C.brunneas and L.scobina, Year twelve Biology classes had
to go down to the Sirens Rock on the south coast of wellington. The Habitat is mainly rock but
there are rock pools from when the high tide went down the water couldn t get out. Chamapsipho
brunnea or Brown Barnacle are a type of barnacle found in the mid high tides parts of rocky shores.
Brown Barnacle are also known as filter feeders so they feed off of algae and plankton. Brown
Barnacle are not found in the low tide zones for this reason their shells can close off meaning
that they can survive out of water longer by keeping water locked in their shells. Lepsiella
Scobina or oyster borer are a predatory sea snail species. they feed off of barnacle and other prey
they are found in the mid high tide zones of rocky shores and not low tide. Oyster borer are
frequently hidding in crevices to hide from predators. Oyster borer are not found in high tide but

than the ideal VALUE. To scale these number as a percentage of the ideal we divided the value of
each option by the ideal value as it shown below in figure 3.

Erich Remarque s Magnum Of All Quiet On The Western Front
The First World War, or the ill named War to End all Wars, was one that brought hell to Earth and
mankind. For the first time in history, industry had appeared to make killing efficient. In static
trenches, young men from around the world were killed by artillery kilometres away, poison gas,
and disease. All nations in the conflict experienced the creation of a Lost Generation; men who lost
their lives, limbs, or the ability to live a normal life. Paul Baumer, the young German protagonist of
All Quiet on the Western Frontbecomes a member of this sad generation through his sad journey to
the ultimate elixir, death. In Erich Remarque s magnum opus All Quiet on the Western Front, Paul

already considered himself a dead man, a men that has lost all humanity. It is this moment that is
the first step in the hero s slow demise, in which he loses all joy and hope. It is impossible for, in
the conditions described, to be able to return home; death becomes the only elixir. Hence, it only
takes two more events in his short life for Paul Baumer to realise this elixir. After the initial

he returns back to the front, he reaches the climax of the journey, as he kills a man in close

Essay preview The purpose of this assignment is to critique and evaluate the chosen article in
terms of strengths and weaknesses, to demonstrate an understanding of the research process.
According to Polit and Beck (2004) the aim of critically appraising an article is an attempt to
determine its strengths and limitations. Therefore, the research critique should reflect an
objective and balanced consideration of the study s validity and significance (Polit and Hungler
1999). The task of critiquing is, according to Lo Biondo Wood and Harber (2006) a challenging
one and can only be effectively achieved through much practice and skill. For the purpose of this

shown in Diagram 3 below. This causes the sickled cells to get trapped in small vessels which
blocks blood from reaching different parts of the body leading to pain, tissue damage and many
more symptoms (University of Utah, 2015). The term anaemia comes from having a shortage of
red blood cells in your blood which occurs because sickled cells only last up to 10 20 days while
normal red blood cells last approximately 120 days. The name sickle comes from an old farm tool

sickled cells (Petch, 2012). Sickle cell disease affects millions of people worldwide and is most
common in those who have ancestors from Africa, the Mediterranean, The Arabian Peninsula and

American Reconstruction After The Civil War
Many historians argue about the result of the reconstruction. By reading the sources I concluded
that the American reconstruction after the war was somewhat successful. According to Frances
after the civil war, the north sent many generals to the south to control territories until the land was
settling. According to her augments the claims that the generals would force the people to bow
down to them. People in the south considered them as tyrants. Another thing that many people in
the south were angry about was the fact that most black in the south had more right to vote that
some of the whites themselves. She mentions that if blacks in the north could not vote why the
blacks in the south should (366). This clearly shows the high disapproval

Essay about The National Labor Relations Board
The ability for the federal government to regulate businesses activity is given in the Constitution.
Article 1, Section 8 is known as the commerce clause; it states, Congress shall have the Power...to
regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes
(Reed, 173). Through the commerce clause, the government is able to regulate business activity by
the use of administrative agencies, which is defined as a governmental regulatory body that
controls and supervises a particular activity or area of public interest and administers and enforces
a particular body of law related to that activity or interest (Administrative Agency, 1). There are two

To properly examine the NLRB it is imperative to understand how it is organized. The NLRB has
five members and primarily acts as a quasi judicial body in deciding cases on the basis of formal
records in administrative proceedings. Board Members are appointed by the President to 5 year
terms, with Senate consent, the term of one Member expiring each year (NLRB.gov). In addition
to the board members there is a General Counsel, which is appointed by the President to a 4 year
term and is independent from the board. The person appointed to the position of General Counsel is
responsible for the investigation and prosecution of unfair labor practice cases and for the general
supervision of the NLRB field offices in the processing of cases. (NLRB.gov) The NLRB also has
a Division of Judges, which is made up of 40 Administrative Law Judges who hear, settle and
decide unfair labor practice cases throughout the United States.
Next, it is important to understand what the NLRB does and does not have jurisdiction over. The
NLRB does not have jurisdiction over 6 types of labors: (1) governmental employees, (2) persons
covered by the Railway Act, (3) independent contractors, (4) agricultural laborers, (5) household
/domestic workers, and (6) employees who work for their spouse or parents (Reed, 631).
Technically the NLRB has jurisdiction over everything else; however, the NLRB has a limited
budget as well as time constraints and so must limit

However, one may well be aware of Swiss bank accounts, the shorthand for murky dealings,
secrecy and of course pilferage from developing countries into rich developed ones.
In fact, some finance experts and economists believe tax havens to be a conspiracy of the western
world against the poor countries. By allowing the proliferation of tax havens in the twentieth
century, the western world explicitly encourages the movement of scarce capital from the
developing countries to the rich. In March
2005, the Tax Justice Network (TJN) published a research finding demonstrating that $11.5 trillion
of personal wealth was held offshore by rich individuals across the globe.
The findings estimated that a large proportion of this wealth was managed from some 70 tax
havens. Further, augmenting these studies of
TJN, Raymond Baker in his widely celebrated book titled Capitalism s Achilles Heel: Dirty Money
and How to Renew the
Free Market System estimates that at least $5 trillion have been shifted out of poorer countries to
the West since the mid 1970.
It is further estimated by experts that one per cent of the world s population holds more than 57 per
cent of total global wealth, routing it invariably through these tax havens.

Obama Care Health Crisis
There have been many deaths going on around the United States and it has been caused by
people s health. Your health should be the main thing you are concerned about so if you haven t
already, you should go for a checkup. In 1980 healthcare expenditures were $256 billion,
according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. We become so involved in buying
fast foods when it is not good for the health. A serious illness can lead to financial ruin if you do
not have insurance. For those who do not have insurance can get Obamacare. It is the same as

The Pros And Cons Of Kerosene And Gasoline
Kerosene and Gasoline are energy sourcing fuels that are distilled from crude oil. Crude oil is
raw material consisting of many hydrocarbons, particularly 84 87% of carbon, 12 14% of
hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and sulphur (1 2%) (Simanzhenkov, 2003 ) Page 4. It s formed from
fossil remains obtained from reservoir s thousands of feet below the ground. There are 3 main
groups of hydrocarbons; paraffinic, naphthenic and aromatic hydrocarbons. The paraffinic series of
hydrocarbons have the general formula CnH(2n+2) and can be either be straight chains or branched
chains of carbonatoms. Naphthenic hydrocarbons have the formula CnH2n, with all bonds from
carbon to hydrogen being saturated. Naphthenic hydrocarbons are moderately stable compounds.
Aromatic hydrocarbons are cyclic compounds, that react readily since they have carbon atoms that
are deficient in hydrogen. All aromatic hydrocarbons have at least one benzene ring as part of their
molecular structure. (Simanzhenkov, 2003 ) Page 4,5,6. For Crude oil to be useful, these
hydrocarbons must be split into simpler compounds that can be used for energy source and fuel, the
oil refining process primarily involves distillation. The distillation process being used in this
procedure is simple distillation, this technique is generally used to separate substances in a mixture,
whose boiling points differ largely. It is generally used in the separation of volatile components of
the mixture from the other non volatile components with

Grandmother Symbolism
It is truthfully effortless comparing two well written stories when the elements of fiction are
attentively assembled. Due to the limited amount of fictional elements, there is not many to choose
from. The writings of A Good Man is Hard to Find, by Flannery O Connor, and Hills like White
Elephants, by Ernest Hemingway, display the presence of mutual elements. The uniqueness of both
stories is what predominantly stands out. Both authors present their anecdotes with parallel
approaches, but provide multiple dissimilarities in doing so.
The grandmothers role in A Good Man is Hard to Find, is defined by selfishness, greed and
egocentric opinions. Throughout the story, it is clearly pointed out that the grandmother will by
any means necessary strive to persuade her son, Bailey, to fulfill her desires. From the very
beginning, the grandmother affirms that she does not want to go to Florida. She then goes out of

Summary Of Celia Behind Me
Isabel Huggan s Celia Behind Me is a short story about bullying. It depicts a young Elizabeth
who finds solace and is accepted by her peers because she takes part in intimidating her
schoolmate Celia. Unlike them, she goes too far, physically assaults the girl and, unknowingly,
digs a hole into a world of suffering and despair. Using various repeating motifs and a similar
characterization of the two characters, Huggan demonstrates that those who purposefully do wrong
to others will eventually also suffer themselves. To start off, various motifs represent the similar
fates of the bully as well as the victim. In fact, a motif of watermelons, which represent heads, is
present throughout the story. Elizabeth first talks of her aunts ... [whose] heads smashed together

The Theme Of Disillusionment
Disillusionment
Paul and his friends became disillusioned with Kantorek, their school teacher who told them about

Sociological Explanations For Gender Difference
TITLE: outline and assess sociological explanations for gender difference in patterns of crime.
What is the relationship between crime and masculinity?
Crime can be described as an act that harmful to an individual as well as the society; such acts are
against and punishable by the law. While deviance can be described as acting against social norms,
for example a boy wearing a skirt would be out of place in the society
The sex role theory states that, when young males and females are younger they socialise in
different ways, resulting in young males being more reckless and neglectful. There are several
sociologist and different versions of the sex theory. Edwin Sutherland stated that the gender
difference when it comes to socialisation is very obvious. Girls are treated with more supervision
and control, while boys are treated not as strict as the girls and are emboldened to take more risk
to be tough, which makes boys more inclined and a higher tendency of committing crimes. Talcott
parsons believes that there are clear gender roles in a nuclear family, where the father performs the
instrumental role which portrays him as a leader and provider, while the mother performs the
expressive role of providing emotional support and talking of the children.
For girls, because their female role model who is their mother is always available unlike for boys
who don t not have as much access to the male figure in their lives (the father) because traditionally
the father would be at

Essay on censorship
Censorship is the act of suppressing publications, movies, television programs, plays, letters, and
so on that are considered to be obscene, blasphemous, or politically unacceptable (MccGwire 4).
Censorship should be enforced because it is needed into today s society. Censorship needs to be
used in media, hate speech, and obscene material.
To begin with, the media has very negative effect on society as a whole. The mass media movies,
television, and recordings need to be regulated, and not only because of appeals to irresponsible
lust (Lowenthal 19). They have immersed us in violence as well, habituated us to the most extreme

It corrupts taste and poisons the imagination (Kimball 20). Violent video games, movies, and music
lyrics influence people to retaliate against those people that hurt them. In the past few years there
have been a great number of school shootings. Many of these shootings were copied off of famous
movie scenes and video games. These obscene aspects of the media need to be banned from
children. Children are still learning the difference between rights and wrong, therefore adults need
to take on this responsibility of censoring what children watch, read, play with, and listen to.
Hate speech should also be banned. Free speech has a class line. It also has a class responsibility.
One person s beliefs cannot cross the line into threats of violence. Free speech does not cover that
(Albano 31). Those institutions most concerned with social fairness have proven to be the ones
most likely to promulgate anti hate speech rules (Albano 30). Part of the reason seems to be
recognition that hate speech can easily silence and demoralize its victims, discouraging them from
participating in the life of the institution (Albano 30). If so, enacting hate speech rules may be
evidence of a commitment to democratic dialogue, rather than the opposite, as some their
opponents maintain (Albano 30). People should not have to put up with harassment by others.
People should not have to constantly live in the state of fear because others are threatening them;

Before the procedures I gathered the supplies needed A surgery pack, suture material, gloves and a
gown for the doctor, and I set up the surgery table by turning it on and covering it with a clean
towel. I then made sure that the oxygen level was on full and that the isoflurane in the anesthesia
machine was full. I made sure that the correct size breathing tubes and bag were also on the
machine, surgery fluids were hung and ready to be connected to the patient, and the monitoring
machine we have was ready to go. Recap from Skill #1 and #2: Preparation Done in the prep room

As soon as the patient is positioned on the table, a thorough skin prep is completed. With new,
clean scrub, we clean the skin with chlorhexidine scrub from the prep tray, then rinse scrub with
alcohol squares. This is repeated a total of 3 times, since the all gross debris has been removed
from our first scrub. I begin each scrub in the center of the scrubbed area, over the planned
incision site, and scrub in a bulls eye pattern toward the periphery, never going back to the center
with the same gauze sponge. The skin preparation should be thorough but gentle to avoid
unnecessary skin trauma. The final application of chlorhexidine solution is allowed to remain
on the skin. It is important that the skin preparation is started as soon as the animal is on the
surgery table to allow for maximum scrub and contact time between antimicrobial and the skin.
After skin prep is complete, finish securing legs and make final adjustments in lighting. Limbs
are tied to help stabilize the patient. Soft ropes are double looped over each leg. One loop above
the carpus and one below on the front legs, and one loop above and below the tarsus on the hind
legs are sufficient to hold the animal s legs. The legs are tied to the surgical table without slack
in the rope using a quick release knot if possible. (This is also known as the halter tie knot used in
livestock and can be quickly released in case the patient needs to be repositioned in an emergency)

Impact Of Minimum Wage In Society s Influence On Social...
Society can have a major influence in the socially economic class in different levels. I believe
that poor people would like to move up in life and have a career and have a high rate paying job,
but our society makes it difficult for them to move up because jobs like Walmart, McDonalds, Jack
in the box, etc. pay them a minimum amount of money and it s not enough for them to survive. A
full time minimum worker gets $15,080 annually according to a povertyresearch, the same
researchers also figured out that In 2012 that the poverty threshold for a single person was 11,495
and for a family of four with two children it was 22,283. With this information given to us we can
see the impact that minimum wagecan have with poor people. In the article

Freire
It is my aim through this assignment to study the ideas and principles of Paulo Freire. I will
examine the relevance of these principles to the principles and practice of informal education,
drawing on my practice and how my practice relates to both the ideas of Paulo Freire and the
principles and practice of informal educationin general.
The educational thinker that I have selected is Paulo Freire. I have selected Freire as he speaks of
the banking concept and having travelled through the education system, I believe this is something
I have experienced. In order to succeed and pass the exams that I believed I needed to be
successful I conformed and simply banked the knowledge that my secondary school teachers passed
onto me. I was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The banking concept controls and prevents personal choices from being made. Freire speaks of
education as the practice of freedom as opposed to education as the practice of domination. (Paulo
Freire, extract 1 education thinkers) It is my opinion, that, informal education gives freedom to the
student. In my role, I am aware that the people, who I am delivering to or working with, have the
freedom to leave at any time.
In my practice, I see conversation as crucial. It allows me as an informal educator to explore the
expectations and requirements of the young people that I work with. Through conversation, I gain
an insight into their ethics and values and an understanding of their culture and environment. I
believe that the banking concept prevents the learner from exploring their own thoughts or voicing
their own opinion.
only through conversation can human life hold meaning. (Freire, Extract 1, educational thinkers)
In my practice, I am also aware that the people that I work with, often communicate with and share
their feelings and needs with myself because I have shown them respect and built up a relationship
with them, they may still experience difficulty communicating with others. As an informal
educator, I understand that, the people I work with may need someone to advocate on their behalf.
In doing so, we are still empowering them, as we are assisting them in making changes, which they

How Do Actions Speak Louder Than Words In King Lear
Shakespeare shows that actions speak louder than words, and that one should not give up their
power to another. Shakespeare does this by showing that even though two of King Lear s
daughters said they loved him they still refused to obey him, and by showing that giving up all of
your power is the same as being a nobody. Through the play King Lear, Shakespeare shows how
one should not be judged based on words, but by their actions. Goneril told King Lear that she
loves him more than words can wield the matter (line 53 54). This quote shows that King Lear s
oldest daughter says that she loves him, and the King believes this and gives half his kingdom to
her. Later in the play the King is told by the fool that he has borest thy ass on thy back o er the dirt
which is when the King starts to realize that his daughters, two of which were given half of the
kingdom, lied to him when they told him they loved him because they only wanted the kingdom
(line 157). The two daughters of the King show their true colors when they show their father they
lied to him, showing that just because someone says one thing they can do another.... Show more

At the beginning of the play King Lear controls land with shadowy forests and with champains
riched, with plenteous rivers and wide skirted meads (line 63 64). This shows that the King has
plenty of land at his disposal giving him power, but when he splits his land among his eldest
daughters he loses his power. When the King goes to talk to his second oldest daughter she tells
him to return and sojourn with my sister, dismissing half your train (line 201 202). This shows now
that the King s daughters control the land they can tell their father, the King, what to do. To the
King, losing his power meant a restriction in freedom which was devastating to him when he

The Uk s Data Protection Act And The General Data...
The UK s Data Protection Act and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) that
underpin this legislation is due to become law in May 2018. However, the new legislation is
complex so this article is intended to make you aware of some of the Data Protection Act and the
General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) more important implications. This means that the
implications of the legislation will be felt far beyond a company s legal or IT departments. It will
have implications across the organisation including marketing, finance and human resources, as
well. In order for companies to be ready for the introduction of the new legislation they have to

So, for example, new business startups will need to ensure that they are collecting personal data
in a manner that is compliant with this legislation. 3. Key changes Some of the most important
changes are: i) Handling of personal information Organisations must be able to demonstrate that
people have freely given their consent to the processing of their personal data and The ICO
recommends that this means giving people genuine ongoing choice and control over how their
data is used. Where an organisation processes data belonging to children under 16 years in the
UK (although the age may be as low as 13 in some EU states), then organisations must obtain
parental consent. The legislation introduces the following rights: Right to be informed Right of
access Right to rectification Right to erasure Right to restrict processing Right to data portability
Right to object Rights related to automated decision making including profiling Importantly, there
has to be express consent from the data subject before that information can be processed and data
subjects will have the right to withdraw their consent at any time ii) Accessing information held
Organisations are obligated to allow people access to the personal data held about them. This is to
allow them to: a.) be aware of the information held b.) verify the lawfulness of the processing.

What Is The Character Of Matilda Summary
Matilda is the story of an unwanted daughter who turns out to be something of a prodigy. Mr
Wormwood, Matildas father, is a dodgy second hand car salesman who rather foolishly sells old
broken cars to the Russian Mafia, Mrs Wormwood has a penchant for Latin American dancing
and dresses in garish costumes. The Wormwoods dislike their daughter Matilda intensely. They
do not understand her interest in books and encourage her to be like her older brother and fall
comatose in front of the telly . And Mr Wormwood even goes so far as to refer to Matilda as boy
even though she repeatedly corrects him. When Matilda heads off to school she surprises her
teacher Miss Honey with her mathematical skills and intelligence. But she falls foul of the child
hating headmistress, the former hammer thrower Miss Trunchbull. On the occasion I saw the
show ten year old Emma Moore took the lead as Matilda. Ms Moore is an enormously talented
young actor with a charming singing voice to match. She combines in the role intelligent
confidence with a certain intellectual aloofness she also achieved a lovely mixture of solemnity
and mischief as the heroine who discovers that to beat the wicked adults you sometimes have to
be a little bit naughty , and she gets maximum value from the songs too. A moment from Ms
Moore that stands out the most for me is when she is talking in sync with the male acrobat it is a
intricate and sad piece of dialect but she performed it beautifully, speaking in perfect

The Radio Frequency Identification Device ( Rfid ) Essay
The Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) is a powerful technology for companies in the
logistics and supply chain management industry. According to Jakobs (2000), he states that the
RFID system use tiny tags with embedded microchips that contains data. This data contains the
location and information about the product/item and transfers the data to RFIDreaders through radio
signals.
The RFID system is my innovation solution to improving the technologies Hunzal currently use in
managing their logistics and supply chain. RFID was introduced as a radical innovation, with a
significant impact in the logistics and supply chain industry. Now RFID is seen as an incremental
innovation as large firms in the logistics and supply chain industry are constantly making minor
improvements on the RFID. (Wamba, 2013).
2.5 The process of RFID
The process of RFID is relatively simple and does not take a long period of time to become an
expert with this system. Basically the Radio Frequency Identification system has three parts (see
appendix 2):
1.Firstly, a RFID tag this piece holds data including an identification number. This data is manually
entered from the reader to help identify an item. The rest of the tag consists of an antenna that
transmits radio waves between the RFID readers.
2.Secoundly, a RFID reader, which is a transceiver with a decoder to interpret the data. Whenever
the sensor tag is activated on the reader, it will interrogate and decode the data on the

The section s Chi squared was 1.54 with 3 degrees of freedom. The probability was 0.70 which
indicates a very good data set. The data is sufficiently accurate and fits the ratio from the above

difference in gender ratios. Discussion: The experiment tested Mendel s Laws of Inheritance
using two mutant recessive traits, dumpy wings and sepia eyes. The Laws of Inheritance state that:
alleles from an organism will separate during the formation of gametes and genes that are different
will assort independently from each other when gametes are formed. According to these laws,
Drosophila mutant traits should assort independently and segregate. The parental cross was a true

Navy Seal Research Paper
Navy Seals Ever since I was about eight years old I have always wanted to be a Navy Seal.
Reading the book The Lone Survivor settled it for me. This book The Lone Survivor was written
by Marcus Luttrell, a former Navy Seal. In the book he says We were big, fast, highly trained,
armed to the teeth, and experts in unarmed and armed combat, Man we could do it all (qtd.
Luttrell 9). After reading that, it made me fantasise about being a Seal. Navy Seals were created
during WWII. Our military needed highly trained soldiers to remove land mines and obstacles
on the beaches of Burgundy France on June 5, 1944, the day before we invaded it on June 6,
1944 also known as D Day(Burgan 1). To be able to Become a Navy Seal is not just about me, it
is also the best way in my opinion to help defend my country. Navy Seals are one of the most
highly trained military groups in the world! The reason for that is because their training is very
brutal and vigorous. It is so brutal that men have even died in the training(Benefits)!... Show more

Compare And Contrast Ancient Egypt Vs America
Ancient civilizations and empires have captured the eye and attention of historians for hundreds of
years. From the lost civilization of Alexandria to the ever present myth of Atlantis (fact or fiction?),
history that has grown has caught the eye of many. Particularly, Ancient Egypt seems as rich in
history and secrets as Greece or Rome. Egyptand modern day America don t hold as many
similarities as one might think, but they seem entangled together regardless of differences. Ancient
Egyptand modern day America hold many similarities. In terms of roots in society, both Egypt
and America started out as simple agrarian societies. America was rooted in agricultural success in
its early life before it advanced towards a more industrialized one in the 1760s to the 1820 40s.
Both Egypt and America also, alongside the agrarian heritage, were multiracial and multicultural in
essence. Due to Egypt being situated in Africa, it supplied America with slaves as much as the rest
of the continent did. Egypt s African roots also added to the heritage and ultimate inhabitants of the
nation, but the rulers and royalty always held... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Cultural Diversity Is Changing The Workforce. In Todayв

How Cultural Diversity Is Changing the Workforce In today s society there are many culturally
diverse people in the workforce. Most organizations can no longer make the assumption that every
employee has similar beliefs or expectations. When entering into the global marketplace, people are
considered one of the most valuable resources to an organization s success. A well managed
culturally diverse workforce has the potential to thrive if managed correctly; or if mismanaged,
there can be devastating negative attributes. With great expectations, culturally diverse employees
can foster positive outcomes in the workplace. A company s acknowledgement to embrace diversity

From our research, we identified three different perspectives on workforce diversity that people
embrace, each with different implications for a work group s ability to realize the benefits of its
cultural diversity. We use these observations here to examine critically some of the themes and
basic assumptions of previous research and to propose new directions for both researchers and
practitioners interested in diversity (Ely Thomas, 2001). When organizations have a diverse
economy, it makes the company strong. Once our nation has embrace the changes from the
demographics that reap the economic benefits of a diverse and inclusive workforce. Burns et al.

million individuals in the labor force, 142,415,00 are currently employed, with unemployment
hovering around 8.2 percent .
Statics stated by 2020 the labor force is projected to reach more than 146 million U.S. citizens, a

O. Abiri University of South Alabama, Mobile, Alabama The gap in the demand and supply for
healthcare services in the US and around the world are believed to facilitate the development of
advance practice nursing (APN) (Kilpatrick, 2008) and this is the motivation for my pursuance of
an APN (i.e. NP) degree. The factors contributing to this gap and facilitating the development of
APN include physicians shortage, cost containment, etc. In the United States of America, there are
four functional roles for APN clinical nurse specialist (CNS), nurse practitioner (NP), certified

The Big Pine, Garlock, And San Andreas Fault
The three faults being considered are thought to have influenced the character of some 120,000
square miles. The Big Pine, Garlock, and San Andreas faults are all mutually active, deep, long,
and steep and noted as being conjugate shears. In concert, the faults have defined a primary strain
pattern of relative east west extension and north south shortening of the area of 120,000 square
miles. The large region is noted for its deformity, with the source of this being a northeast
southwest counterclockwise compressive couple. The compressive couple was potentially
supported through drag as a result of the deep seated movement of rock material from the Pacific
region (Hill Dibblee, 1953). The interaction of the faults in the San Andreas region since the
Jurassic period have served to shape and contour the present geology of the land, while a study of
the paleontology of the region likewise requires such knowledge to effectively determine conditions
at any given point in time.
Tectonic Stress and the San Andreas FaultAccording to Townend and Zoback (2004) the San
Andreas Fault (SAF) region has been noted for its possession of stress orientations in addition to
the lack of a distinct heat flow anomaly at the trace of the fault. These findings indicate that there
are average shear tractions that are less than 20 25 MPa in the seismogenic upper crust. Oftentimes,
shear tractions measure approximately 5 times greater than in the SAF. Due to the presence of high

Who Taught Me to Cook and Inspired my Cooking?
I remember this: I was 5 years old, a Spanish speaking Jewish girl by ethnicity and Catholic by
religion living with her family in a house in the state of San Salvador in El Salvador. We were a

San Salvador, earning money every day, which made us high middle class by Salvadorians
standards. I also have a brother. We lived in a time during war in the country and a combination of

My mama Nila took some of her precious time to teach me how to cook. I remember that at first,
I learned to heat the oven to 350 and then, heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium high heat.
That temperature is very high so, I was afraid of getting burned. But my grandma made it easy
for me because she just held my little hand and turn on the oven. This made me feel more
confident, and secure because she was next to me. Next, I learned to add onion, celery, salt, and
peppers to pan; sautГ© 6 minutes or until onion is tender. Then, Mama Nila taught me how to
combine cornstarch and beef, tossing well to coat. I tried to mix the ingredients with a circular
motion until well blended, but it was a little bit difficult to blend because it was my first time
doing it. So mama Nila told me to be patient and keep do it until I get all the ingredients in a
uniform consistency form. I kept trying it, until I got it right, and that makes me happy because I
learned how to blend the mixture

  • 2. Sharks In La Reunion It looks like the main problem in La Reunion is that now it s being surrounded by sharks. People are having a problem with this beause before they were able to go out in the water and swim or surf, what ever they wanted to do, but now it s surrounded by sharks which stops them from being capable of going in the water. Many people have been killed because of the sharks, but there are still some people that decide that they want to risk their lives and go in the water. This also causes a problem within the society because the people that choose to go in the water are disobeying any rules that apply to the problem with the sharks. Not only that, but this can also cause people to argue with each other because everyone will have a different opinion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Richard Powell explains in his book Black Art; A cultural History that those who embraced the Black Power movement often fell into one of two camps: the Revolutionary Nationalists, who were best represented by the Black Panther Party, and the Cultural Nationalists. The latter group called for the creation of poetry, novels, visual arts, and theater to reflect pride in black history and culture. This new emphasis was an affirmation of the autonomy of black artists to create black art for black people as a means to awaken black consciousness and achieve liberation. • 4. Examples Of Frankenstein Or The Modern Prometheus In Frankenstein or, The Modern Prometheus , the author, Mary Shelley demonstrates the idea that a creator, in this case, a scientist, is responsible for its creation in the sense that it s responsible for its actions during its early stages of existence in the world. In the story and throughout several nonfiction sources, authors show the concept that the creator is responsible for it s creation/product since it creates a new type of responsibility towards the scientist him/herself, toward the product /creation, and to the scientists family. Frankensteinwas unable to demonstrate responsibility with these three, which is the main reason why the creature became so aggressive and rageful. The reason for this was mainly the fact that Doctor Frankenstein is selfish and only thinks of himself, and not of how his actions can severely impact people around him. This concept is also demonstrated in our modern world through how scientists today are being cautious with new inventions and products, such as CRISPR, which is a system that scientists can use to modify human genomes. Scientists today are also making sure that they are monitoring their inventions and making sure that they are responsible for whatever they are doing. Throughout Frankenstein , Mary Shelley demonstrates how a creator is responsible for its creation in the sense that the scientist also becomes responsible for himself. In the story, as Dr. Frankenstein begins his project, which was to create a creature out of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oh the weather outside is frightful, she whistled as she took the elevator to her apartment. Back home on the Blackfeet reservation in East Glacier, Montana, the wind would be howling down from Canada, driving temperatures well below zero. Starting in the early 2000s, LBO firms had enjoyed ready access to low priced debt and had generated average returns of 15.6% between 2003 and 2006, compared to 9.9% for the Standard Poor s index and single digits for VC.3 Accordingly, LPs flocked to invest in LBOs, which raised $344 billion in 2008, while VC funds raised only $63 billion.4 Records fell for largest LBO deal (the acquisition of Texas utility TXU by Texas Pacific Group, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, and Goldman Sachs for $45 billion)5 and largest fund raised (Blackstone s $21 billion Corporate Private Equity Fund V). In fact, the co founder of the Carlyle Group lamented, We should have done every single deal everywhere in the world [in 2005 and 2006]. Every deal worked. 6 VC firms, which had spent the first few years of the 2000s recovering from the telecom and Internet bubbles, had little to crow about despite such high profile successes as Google s 2004 initial public offering (IPO). Fundraising recovered from 2002 s nadir of $12 billion, but comparisons to the anomalous activity of 1999 and 2000 made for a sobering return to reality. Figures for LBO activity in 2008 indicated the peak of a cycle, and the bust followed shortly thereafter, as the global financial crisis shut off the supply of cheap debt for LBO deals. • 6. Essay on Teen Pregnancy It has been said that teens across the world have not been receiving enough sex education. This has led to many issues with teens becoming pregnant, which most of the time is unanticipated. Teenage pregnancy has been a social problem throughout the world for a number of decades now. Many studies have been completed in several countries that pertain to the amount of teens and the types of teens who are becoming pregnant. Rates among teens had been declining for some time, but are starting to take a turn and increase. This is still a significant social problem, though some people do not perceive it like it is. There are various reasons as to why this is such a large social problem. There is not a clear answer as to why teens are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to an American study, 750,000 girls get pregnant each year, 31% of teenage girls get pregnant at least once before the turn 20, and the federal government spends about $7 billion to help families that originate with a teen mother (Gilbert, 2007). Studies have shown throughout these countries that America still has the highest rate of teen pregnancy. In Canada, the teen birth rate declined from 35.7 per 1000 in 1974 to 14.4 in 2003 (McKay, 2006). This statement was made referring to the United States, Since the teen birthrate is on the rise for the first time in 15 years, it is critically important to focus resources and attention on this problem (Docksai, 2010). The teen birthrates maybe declining in other territories around the world, but the U.S. is starting to see an increase. Many people believe that anyone that becomes a teen parent is someone who is coming from a poor or broken home, but this is definitely not the case. A survey that was completed in the United States found that 41% of U.S. teen parents come from homes at or above 200% of the federal poverty line, and 70% were raised in two parent homes (Docksai, 2010). This shows that there are teens that are seen as normal to society becoming pregnant. The results of the numerous people who completed the survey proved what a lot of other people thought about the home life of a teen parent. Two thirds of U.S. adults assume that most teen parents were raised in homes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Problem Of Bad Debts INTRODUCTION The accumulation of huge NPA in banks has assumed great importance. The depth of the problem of bad debts was first realised only in early 1990s. The magnitude of NPAs in banks and financial institution is over Rs. 150000 cr. So gross NPA reflects the quality of the loans made by banks, net NPA shows the actual burden of banks. Now it is increasingly evident that the major defaulters are the big borrowers coming from the initiative to reduce NPAs in a time bound strategic approach. Public sector banks figure prominently in the debate not only because they dominate the banking industries, but also since they have much larger NPAs compared with the private sector banks. This raises a concern in the industry and academia because it is generally felt that NPAs reduce the profitability of a banks, weaken its financial health and erode its solvency. For the recovery of NPAs a board framework has evolved for the management of NPA under which several options are provided for debt recovery and restructuring. Banks and FIs have the freedom to design and implement their own policies for recovery and write off incorporating compromise and negotiate settlements. DEFINITION An asset, including a leased asset, becomes non performing when it ceases to generate income for the bank. A non performing asset (NPA) was defined as a credit facility in respect of which the interest and / or instalment of principal has remained past due for a specified period of time. ... • 9. A Young Man s Folly Short Summary Sadly, not all marriages have good endings. This could be caused by several reasons, such as falling out of love, neglect, or lack of communication. The latter is the main cause of the short story A Young Man s Folly by Susan Michalicka. The story revolves around a modern family, where a boy tries to deal with the loss of his father leaving him. Michalicka conveys the message of: Sometimes when you re chasing something, you lose sight of what is really important very well through the use of conflict, characterization and symbolism. Conflict was used effectively in the short story to reveal the theme of the story. The boy has an internal conflict about which parent to stay with, and because his father left, he seemed to have favored him. He wanted him back so badly that every night, he watches him on the six o clock news while wearing his old jackets. He was blinded by his father s sudden departure that he forgot about what is really important. Additionally, another development in the short story s conflict has been used effectively to reveal the theme. When the boy went to Macdonald s to see his father s true colors, he thought: I finished my drink quickly, thankful that he had to be back in the studio for the news. By the time he saw his dad for the first time in a while, he knew he was not the man he thought he was. At that moment, he also realized that he lost sight of what he had all this time: His mother s unconditional love. If it wasn t for the characterization of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because of some bad dog owners that may train these dogs to attack or fight, few people view Pitbulls as kind and loving pets. Most people have negative opinions about them because of what they see on the news With a little education and some positive exposure, more of us would see just how wonderful these dogs can be. • 11. Incest and Sexism in Hamlet In my readings of Hamlet, sexism was a immense element in the story. It is not fairly unambiguous where the incest comes in and who is involved, but the unorthodox relationships that have taken place shows how things were during the Elizabethan Age, or were they? My goal in this paper is to research the gender roles between the males and females in the story and to prove how women were treated during these times, and to determine who was involved in incest and sexism. The characters in focus will be Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, and son of the deceased King Hamlet; Polonius, counselor to Claudius; Laertes, Polonius son who has returned home due to King Hamlet s death; Gertrude, Hamlet s mother and Queen of Denmark; and Ophelia, daughter of ... (Resetarits). Ophelia loses her identity as a woman as she becomes a pawn to the men. Incest flows abundantly through this play like no other. The relationship between Claudius and Gertrude could be considered incest from Hamlet s perspective even though they are not blood related. He sees his blood uncle and his blood mother together which tortured his conscience. Why did the thought of his mother having sex deter him so bad? • 12. Summary Of On Natural Death By Lewis Thomas On Natural Death In his essay On Natural Death , research pathologist, medical doctor, and biologist Lewis Thomas attempts to console the reader about the weighty topic of death by referencing his own observations, citing scientific facts and statistics, and using the universal fear and unknown of eternal rest. Thomas first points to the example of the unforeseen death of an elm tree in his own backyard. The death of an inanimate lifeform is something with which most people are familiar and probably even comfortable. This first hand experience displays a situation in which death is quick and free of pain. Sickle cell anaemia is the most severe form of sickle cell disease and is a genetic disease of the red blood cells (Gibbons, 2015). Red blood cells have a disk like form which allows them the ability to travel through blood vessels. Although in people with sickle cell, the red blood cells form an abnormal crescent shape which makes them rigid and sticky as shown in Diagram 3 below. This causes the sickled cells to get trapped in small vessels which blocks blood from reaching different parts of the body leading to pain, tissue damage and many more symptoms (University of Utah, 2015). The term anaemia comes from having a shortage of red blood cells in your blood which occurs because sickled cells only last up to 10 20 days while normal red blood cells last approximately 120 days. The name sickle comes from an old farm tool known as a sickle as shown in Diagram 4 below which represents the same shape as curved sickled cells (Petch, 2012). And because of them I was able to apply and get accepted into the Catholic high school where I can continue to pursue a high school experience of holiness. The students I have encountered not only helped me when I fell down but they made me feel like I belonged in Catholic school. I have made wonderful friends that continue to make me believe in myself even in my darkest times. The memories I made at my Catholic school is one I want to share with my children in the future. To me a Catholic education means the guarantee of good moral thinking, self confidence, excellence in academics, a safe, loving environment, self discipline, and most importantly to live as Jesus Christ would have lived. The Theme Of Disillusionment Disillusionment Paul and his friends became disillusioned with Kantorek, their school teacher who told them about the war, and how they should join immediately because they would be respected by women and be better men. What is the relationship between crime and masculinity? Crime can be described as an act that harmful to an individual as well as the society; such acts are against and punishable by the law. While deviance can be described as acting against social norms, for example a boy wearing a skirt would be out of place in the society The sex role theory states that, when young males and females are younger they socialise in different ways, resulting in young males being more reckless and neglectful. There are several sociologist and different versions of the sex theory. Edwin Sutherland stated that the gender difference when it comes to socialisation is very obvious. Girls are treated with more supervision and control, while boys are treated not as strict as the girls and are emboldened to take more risk to be tough, which makes boys more inclined and a higher tendency of committing crimes. These obscene aspects of the media need to be banned from children. Children are still learning the difference between rights and wrong, therefore adults need to take on this responsibility of censoring what children watch, read, play with, and listen to. Hate speech should also be banned. Free speech has a class line. It also has a class responsibility. One person s beliefs cannot cross the line into threats of violence. Free speech does not cover that (Albano 31). Those institutions most concerned with social fairness have proven to be the ones most likely to promulgate anti hate speech rules (Albano 30). Part of the reason seems to be recognition that hate speech can easily silence and demoralize its victims, discouraging them from participating in the life of the institution (Albano 30). If so, enacting hate speech rules may be evidence of a commitment to democratic dialogue, rather than the opposite, as some their opponents maintain (Albano 30). We use these observations here to examine critically some of the themes and basic assumptions of previous research and to propose new directions for both researchers and practitioners interested in diversity (Ely Thomas, 2001). When organizations have a diverse economy, it makes the company strong. Once our nation has embrace the changes from the demographics that reap the economic benefits of a diverse and inclusive workforce. Burns et al. (2012) stated in their investigation that: In June 2012, approximately 155,163,00 people were in the labor force (those actively employed or seeking employment). With a total U.S. working age population of approximately 243 million individuals, the labor force participation rate currently stands at 63.8 percent. Out of those 155 million individuals in the labor force, 142,415,00 are currently employed, with unemployment hovering around 8.2 percent . Statics stated by 2020 the labor force is projected to reach more than 146 million U.S. citizens, a 5.9 percent from today. Economists predict the labor force participation rate will decrease over the coming decades, as an aging ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Personal Nursing Practice Essay Running head: MY PERSONAL NURSING THEORY OF PRACTICE: A MODEL OF NURSING PRAXIS My Personal Nursing Theory of Practice: A Model of Nursing Praxis Oseni O. Abiri University of South Alabama, Mobile, Alabama The gap in the demand and supply for healthcare services in the US and around the world are believed to facilitate the development of advance practice nursing (APN) (Kilpatrick, 2008) and this is the motivation for my pursuance of an APN (i.e. NP) degree. The factors contributing to this gap and facilitating the development of APN include physicians shortage, cost containment, etc. In the United States of America, there are four functional roles for APN clinical nurse specialist (CNS), nurse practitioner (NP), certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) and certified nurse midwife (CNMW). My chosen role is the Advanced Emergency Nursing (AEN) (which is the combination of family nurse practitioner (FNP) and acute nurse practitioner (ACNP)). As an NP, I am training to provide nursing and medical care to meet the complex needs of patients, their families and the communities they live and interact with a holistic focus in both primary and acute care settings. I am therefore expected to improve patients, families and communities health through effective, integrated and coordinated care, contribute to the body of nursing knowledge and practice; and advance the field of nursing through helping to educate the next generation of nurses, and ... • 53. The Big Pine, Garlock, And San Andreas Fault The three faults being considered are thought to have influenced the character of some 120,000 square miles. The Big Pine, Garlock, and San Andreas faults are all mutually active, deep, long, and steep and noted as being conjugate shears. In concert, the faults have defined a primary strain pattern of relative east west extension and north south shortening of the area of 120,000 square miles. The large region is noted for its deformity, with the source of this being a northeast southwest counterclockwise compressive couple. The compressive couple was potentially supported through drag as a result of the deep seated movement of rock material from the Pacific region (Hill Dibblee, 1953). The interaction of the faults in the San Andreas region since the Jurassic period have served to shape and contour the present geology of the land, while a study of the paleontology of the region likewise requires such knowledge to effectively determine conditions at any given point in time. Tectonic Stress and the San Andreas FaultAccording to Townend and Zoback (2004) the San Andreas Fault (SAF) region has been noted for its possession of stress orientations in addition to the lack of a distinct heat flow anomaly at the trace of the fault. These findings indicate that there are average shear tractions that are less than 20 25 MPa in the seismogenic upper crust. Oftentimes, shear tractions measure approximately 5 times greater than in the SAF. Due to the presence of high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Mama Nila Who Taught Me to Cook and Inspired my Cooking? I remember this: I was 5 years old, a Spanish speaking Jewish girl by ethnicity and Catholic by religion living with her family in a house in the state of San Salvador in El Salvador. We were a hard working family by most standards. Both of my parents own a Jewelry store in down town San Salvador, earning money every day, which made us high middle class by Salvadorians standards. I also have a brother. We lived in a time during war in the country and a combination of irregular pay, hope, fear and military government. In this times, Mama Nila told me to have a positive attitude while teaching me how to cook. I call my grandmother Mama Nila, she was one of the few Jews who live in San Salvador ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My mama Nila took some of her precious time to teach me how to cook. I remember that at first, I learned to heat the oven to 350 and then, heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium high heat. That temperature is very high so, I was afraid of getting burned. But my grandma made it easy for me because she just held my little hand and turn on the oven. This made me feel more confident, and secure because she was next to me. Next, I learned to add onion, celery, salt, and peppers to pan; sautГ© 6 minutes or until onion is tender. Then, Mama Nila taught me how to combine cornstarch and beef, tossing well to coat. I tried to mix the ingredients with a circular motion until well blended, but it was a little bit difficult to blend because it was my first time doing it. So mama Nila told me to be patient and keep do it until I get all the ingredients in a uniform consistency form. I kept trying it, until I got it right, and that makes me happy because I learned how to blend the mixture ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
