Class Disparities In The Victorian Era
While there were many advancements in technology and literature in the Victorian Era, there were
also many disadvantages; these included child labor, class disparities, and atrocious living conditions.
There were incredible novels, artwork, and machinery created during the Victorian Era. However, the
people were treated horribly. Children were put to work, and severely abused while they were there.
The poor were seen as dirt on the bottom of the upper class s shoes, and were rarely allowed to
advance in society. Citizens lived in squalor, and many became ill because of it. Victorian society will
always have a negative connotation because of how the people were treated during that time. Dickens
is a major proponent of that connotation. He wrote ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The upper classes had all of the political power, and the middle and lower classes had absolutely none.
There was also a group below the working class called the sunken class. They lived in poverty and
struggled immensely in their daily lives. While the lower class people were working for a living, the
rich were living glamorously. They had large houses, plots of land, and maids and butlers. Even with
all of these amenities, the upper class paid no taxes. The citizens under the aristocrats paid nearly all
of the taxes, even though they worked for pennies a day. This created hostility towards the upper class,
and made the class disparity even more severe. In A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, Ebenezer
Scrooge was a wealthy, upper class man. He did not do anything to help the poor or the lower class
society. Meanwhile, Bob Cratchit had a sizable family that lived in a cramped house, and struggled to
make ends meet. Scrooge treated Bob Cratchit, his employee, poorly, and said multiple times that the
poor should be able to work their way out of poverty. He was incredibly disconnected from the lower
classes, and this showed in his treatment of them. He was unaware of the struggles of the poor, and he
was unwilling to learn until he was forced to. This is one very apparent example in fiction of the class
disparities of Victorian

Garner Down Syndrome
Kawanda Garner Down syndrome
Down syndrome is a condition in which a person has an extra chromosome. Chromosomes are small
packages of genes in the body that determine how a baby s body forms during pregnancy and how the
baby s body functions as it grows in the womb and after birth. (CDC, 2014) John Langon Down first
described Down s syndrome or Trisomy 21 in 1866. Trisomy 21 is caused by a combination of birth
defects when there is a nondisjunction or an error in cell division during meiosis, resulting in a
trisomy of chromosome 21. (Porth, 2011, p. 119) While the cause in unknown, evidence from
cytogenetic and epidemiologic studies supports the concept of multiple causality. (Perry, 2010, p.

(Chang Kelly, 2007) According to the article published by Salimbene, (2000), children are highly
valued and welcomed in most Bosnian families. Culturally, Bosnian s hold Physician s to a higher
standard than nurses. They may request to hear a diagnoses or treatment options from the physician
rather than a nurse. Teaching may become difficult if a relationship is not formed. The nurse should
introduce themselves and state that the doctor has asked him/her to perform which ever test or
procedure it is that is needed. The purpose of the upcoming testing should be explained thoroughly
without going into the specific details about the procedure. (Salimbene, 2000) Bosnians prefer herbal
or spiritual approaches to health care over western health care. Language barriers may become an
issue as well so an interpreter should be utilized as needed to ensure information is passed along
appropriately. It is critical to assess each patient individually and not make cultural assumptions about
a patient s beliefs or health practices. (Chang Kelly, 2007). Many factors affect this process of parental
adaptation, for example, the nature and severity of the child s conditions, preexisting family
functioning level, cultural background, income level, the availability of social support, and the attitude
of healthcare providers, especially at the time of diagnosis. (Choi, Lee Yoo, 2011, p. 113) Providing a

finally opens the door and heads up stairs to a bedroom pasting a room that s filled with toys and

about his childhood, and his parents who were also scientists. His parents are one of the leading
scientists in charge of running the government and conducting scientific experiments. They were also
the ones to give the order to disavow any knowledge of Lee or his failed expedition.

Wildfire Research Papers
Each year on the new you hear about more and more wildfires charing our land. Why are we hearing
about more fires every year and why are they burning longer. Wildfire are getting harder to fight and
are costing us a lot more money to fight. Wildfire are becoming more common and are taking longer
to fight.First off one of the main reasons for the fires becoming more frequent is because of people.
On a nice hot July day in the middle of the drought all it takes is one spark from your chain dragging
on the road to spark a multi thousand acre fire. Also with more people out in the woods camping they
want a fire so they build one but don t maintain it and just let it burn. This is turn lights the forest on

Las Vegas, The Original City Of Sin Essay
Las Vegas, the original City of Sin (Bull 2). Marketing campaigns flaunt the idea what happens in
Vegas, stays in Vegas (Bull 4). Now known for its attitude of permissiveness, especially regarding
sexual behavior, Las Vegas has grown tremendously from it s humble beginnings as a simple rail stop
between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City (Bull 2). In 1911, with a population of just over 2,000, Las
Vegas was incorporated and its first mayor elected. Fast forward twenty years, and the population has
almost quadrupled and gambling is legalized. Reminiscent of a perfect storm, the setting was ripe for
exploitation: Las Vegas was distanced from other towns or cities, the railroad allowed people to easily
travel, and legalized gambling opened up avenues for debasement. With it s remote location and
legalized gambling, it was inevitable that big time mobsters would come onto the scene. Additionally,
casinos were being erected, encouraging guests to spend money and drink liquor, thus leading to
uninhibited behavior. Furthermore, by providing workers in the oldest profession there would be yet
another way to line the pockets of the underworld figures who created the foundation for the Vegas of
today. Russell W. Belk has argued, the idea that Las Vegas provides forbidden fruit and guilty
pleasures;a vital part of the city s appeal (Bull 4). According to Hal Rothman, Las Vegas has a widely
accepted role as a place where generations of Americans have been allowed to self indulge

Movement of the people, manufactured goods and food is inevitable despite the fact that it may have
negative impacts on the public health. Nonetheless, not all these movements have negative impacts on
public health. Taking steps to reduce these movements is not viable since it will slow the development
of the origin and destination countries. Furthermore, it is almost impossible to reduce these
movements Therefore, the only alternative way to try and lower the negative impacts these flows have
on the public health.
The flows result to the spread of communicable diseases. This can be reduced proper immunization.

The altering of the genetic material is done in the laboratory. Genetically modified foods should be
consumed. The characteristics of any organism, whether a plant or an animal is defined by its gene.
The genes within an organism account for the all the traits in the organism. Therefore, modifying an
organism gene result to modification of its content. In other words, the modification results to another
organism that of different from the original.
Since organism s genes are modified, they can be having adverse effects on the consumer. According
to AAEM, genetically modified foods cause immune system and gastrointestinal disorders. Other
causes include infertility and accelerated aging. These are some of the reasons why such GMO foods
should not be consumed at all.
It s clear that Genetically modified foods have negative impact on the consumers. Furthermore, the
production of the GMOs results to increased use of herbicides and other chemicals. This chemical
have a negative effect on the environment. Furthermore, the genetically modified foods have
possibilities of producing unpredictable side effects. All this effects have costs that results to the
process of combating them. Therefore, the negative impacts and associated costs of the negative
impacts outweighs the cost of producing the food in the

Defining Love In Sir Thomas Wyatt And Samuel Daniels
Sir Thomas Wyatt and Samuel Daniels have sonnets in which the speaker is attempting to define love.
With one speaker stating his daily life and the other expressing the feeling through paradoxes, both
ultimately end up with poems that are not conventionally good love poems. I allege that the reason
they cannot effectively define love is that they do not truly understand it because their own egos blind
them from it. The scope of both sonnets is restricted to simply the speakers focus and they spend all
fourteen lines saying things of little consequence. Rather than getting across the point that they are in
love, they are showing their disillusionment in regards to what love is because they are so self
centered and thus inadept at writing poetry. I aim to reveal that these sonnets reveal more about the
speakers than about love through their choice of rhyme scheme, rhetorical devices, meter, and
repetition.
The speakers use different rhyme schemes. I find no peace is a Petrarchan sonnet and If this be love is
a Shakespearean sonnet. While not actually flouting the conventional patterns, the speakers use diction
that hardly allows the sonnets to be easily identified by their rhyme schemes. In the first and fourth
lines of I find no peace, for example, the speaker seems to rhyme done with on (Wyatt ll. 1, 4). Instead
of altering the word choice to better fit the Petrarchan rhyme scheme, the speaker writes in the only
diction he can think of. Wyatt s speaker is so focused on himself and his paradoxical experience of
love that he fails to create an effective sonnet.
We see a similar disregard for the standard form by Daniel s speaker. The rhyme scheme of a
Shakespearean sonnet is there, though not obviously with the speaker attempting to rhyme thoughts
and notes in the last quatrain (Daniel ll. 9, 11). I believe the weakness in the overall rhyme scheme
implies that the speaker is careless of tradition. This loose rhyming shows a lack of regard for the form
the speaker is attempting to emulate, further emphasizing the possibility that his goal has not been to
define love but to prove to others, and himself, that he is in love.
Wyatt s speaker describes love primarily by using paradoxes. However, he

Life Saving Weapons Of Mass Destruction
Life Saving Weapons of Mass Destruction The atomic bombs dropped in Japan during the Pacific War
were initially devastating, killing thousands of people in the blast, but they were also life saving and
beneficial to Japan and the geo political world. World War II officially ended after Japan surrendered,
putting an end to the deaths of soldiers from around the world. Japan s economy, which had taken a
great hit later in the war, began to improve with the aid from the United States. The modern public is
now well aware of the extensive damage these weapons caused, which has prevented further
deployments of nuclear bombs, keeping the global public protected from nuclear warfare. With the
lives lost in the decimated cities, there continue to be many more preserved. On the sixth and ninth of
August in 1945, the United States dropped Little Boy and Fat Man onto the Japanese military and
industrial cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki . Prior to the bombings, the Pacific War had already
claimed over 35 million lives, or about half of World War II s total death toll . Japan was starting to
lose traction by 1945, and the Allies needed to find a way to force them to surrender. The Japanese
military was proud and their soldiers preferred to die fighting than surrender, as shown by their
kamikaze missions , so a different approach had to be taken that not only affected the soldiers, but the
country of Japan as a whole. Leaflets began falling into major Japanese cities in late July and

Hundreds Years War Essay
Hundred Years War
The definition of the Golden Rule is that those with the gold make the rules. In other words, those
with the gold have the power as well as those with the power have the gold. History books will discuss
the general reasons for war such as freedom from adversity or freedom from religion. But the real
issue for any war is the thirst for power and control; and the means to finance them are the economic
issues. Nations will endure years of fighting for power and control. France and England fought each
other for more than a hundred years to have control of the Channel trade routes. 1 This century of
warring was known as The Hundred Years War and is the longest war in record history. It began in

Wine was Gasgony s largest export product and major source of income to the vassal. Wool was
England s largest export product and the source of its wealth. English pastures produced fleeces that
were the envy of Europe which Flanders depended on for its wool and linen market. 8 English sheep
growers sold their long fine wool to weavers in Flanders, across the English Channel. Flemish
weavers as well as English sheep growers depended on this trade for their business. In 1336, Philip VI
arrested all the English merchants in Flanders and took away all the privileges of the Flemish towns
and the craft guilds. Resulting in the Flemings revolting against the French control and making an
alliance with England. 9 Consequently, the flourishing market of the industrial cities of Ghent, Bruges,
Antwerp and Ypres were naturally coveted by the Kings of France and England. Moreover, the
Bordeaux harbor was within the borders of English Gascony and was the center of the shipping and

Bordeaux via the Dordogne and Garonne Rivers and the merchants were charged a customs fee for
these products. Also, Bordeaux would receive duties on wine, whether shipped in or grown on Gascon

grades started to fall lower and lower. Even with her grades falling slightly she is still doing an
excellent job in class, exclaimed Professor Lanoue, and she is still one of my top students, but I ve

her about light topics, like friends and significant others, but then I asked about her parents, and it

tiger parents. Tiger parenting is a common used word to describe most Asian parents in America. Tiger
parents are the extremely strict parents who push their children to be academically successful by being

Bruce Lee s Impact on American Media
42 years after his death, Bruce Lee is still viewed as the greatest icon of martial arts cinema. His
philosophy and charisma made him legend amongst popular culture. It s arguable whether or not the
martial arts film genre would have survived in American Cinema without Bruce Lee and his incredible
movies in the early 1970 s. Till this day, Bruce Lee s Influence in modern media is apparent. Bruce
Lee has become a household name, like Mickey Mouse and The Beatles.

With his minor success in Hollywood, Bruce returned to Hong Kong and was approached by film

Society In Dead Poets Society
Society is a group of individuals, characterized by a common interest whether it be religious,
scientific, or political interests. Individuals are the building blocks of society. Individuals as human
beings are social creatures who have a need to be in close quarters with other humans. Despite
individuals being part of a society due to a common interest, they may experience issues regarding
conflicting views that will affect their overall happiness thus affecting the efficiency at which society
is functioning. For that reason, it is the duty of society to teach the individuals that reside in it to live
their lives to the fullest, to think for themselves, as well as standing up for what they believe is right.
One of the duties of society owes to individuals is to teach them how to live their lives to the fullest.
In the film Dead Poet s Society, Mr. Keating says, They re (boys in old picture) not that different from
you... you can hear them whispering their legacy... carpe diem. Seize the day boys, make your life
extraordinary (Weir). Before this point in the film, the boys in Mr. Keating s class were never told to
live their life to the fullest. They have always done what their parents wanted of them. They have
never stood up against authority and taken their lives back. When Mr. Keating says this, he fulfills the
societal duty of teaching individuals to live life to the fullest by telling them directly to do so. While

Recent advances in comprehending the fundamental pathobiology of gastrointestinal mucositis
development, states that pro inflammatory cytokines and the uncontrolled activation nuclear factor
kappa B are the major contributing factors of gastrointestinal mucositis (Al Dasooqi et al., 2013,
Logan et al., 2008, Logan et al., 2009, Sonis, 2004). Gastrointestinal mucositis is known mainly to
occur due to the activation of nuclear factor kappa B, which causes the activation of pro inflammatory
cytokines such as tumour necrosis factor (TNF) , interleukin (IL) 1β, IL 4, IL 6 and interferon (IFN)
γ (Al Dasooqi et al., 2013, Logan et al., 2008, Logan et al., 2009, Stringer et al., 2010). This in turn
causes damage and inflammation, with the presence of ulceration (not conspicuous without a surgical

main thing that can be done to decrease the crime levels in America would be to incorporate

community should assign a few individuals to be the community patrol who work with their local

projects, low income, and ghettos in America were clean with well kept streets, buildings that were

current surroundings were full of drugs, infestations, alcohol, abuse, and run down buildings, would
you think you would be a college graduate someday? I surely wouldn t. I feel if communities could
work together with the help of the Public Works department, they could have an all hands on deck
week. This would include members of the community as well as the Public Works to clean the streets
first. Then the communities can try to work as one to get the abandoned building either rebuilt, or
refurbished so the community can actually have something it might absolutely need. A nationwide
cleanup would preserve the minds of individuals who are thinking of committing a crime and moving
their attention to making their home a better place. This could be vital to neighborhoods all across

Analysis Of Raymond Carver s Cathedral
In Raymond Carver s short story, Cathedral , we meet the character who is never named, and who is
known as the narrator to us. Although the narrator s character changed towards the end, and we don t
really learn much after the change of his personality, it is still a gradual change that took place. The
narrator s attitude is very important in the story because it revolves around him and the way he views
things. This short story is about a man who is married to a woman, and this woman has been friends
with a blind man who is going to visit her at her home, after his wife has just passed away. The
narrator does not like the idea of the blind man visiting his home, and finds himself very
uncomfortable about the visit. He criticizes everything the blind man does, and does not understand
that there is more to life than just having eyesight. The narrator has a change of insight at the end of
the short story due to the blind man named Robert, who shows him there is more to life than not being
able to see. The narrator in this story is a dynamic character. In the beginning of the story we learn that
the narrator is not into the blind man visiting him in his home, as he states, I wasn t enthusiastic about
his visit. He was no one (Carver 448). The narrator shows signs of jealousy towards the blind man, as
his wife speaks of him very highly, and he is very close to his wife. He is very close minded at the

How Generational Trauma In The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fist...
The way we live defines us, tradition defines us. Tradition is a very important thing. It is something
that spans many generations and is a part of one s identity. Tradition can define us. Therefore when
tradition is forcibly taken away it can hurt a lot of people and generations. An example of a people
who have had many of their traditions suppressed and taken away are the original inhabitants of the
Americas. Their tradition was taken from them and they were either killed or forced into following a
new tradition which erasing all of their identity. The effect this has on the newer generation is bad
because they will feel like a part of them is missing because their tradition was taken and it can cause
a trauma called generational trauma. The book The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist Fight in heaven,
focuses on a Native American named Victor in order to describe how generational trauma causes a
weakening of tradition because it becomes replaced with alcohol and isolation. In addition, Alexie
presents how a rekindling of old traditions is a way out of this harmful circle.
When Victor was a child his parents would drink a lot and would neglect him because they dealt with
their pain by drinking. They drank because they were drinking away the problems caused by the
generational trauma they and the generation before them had to endure. For example, during the New
Year s party, everyone got drunk, even Victor s parents, left Victor by himself. Victor s father and

exception that applies. But the number one guaranteed way for this to go smoothly is to get a search

from and what they can get from the search warrant. But in order to get a search warrant, the police
officers must provide that they have probable cause that there is marijuana in the house. Even though

Some interesting facts that I have found was when current technology has given police officers a new
way on searching humans, buildings, homes and even vehicles. Now marijuana is generally cultivated
with a lot of high intensity lamps; the police officers can now conduct an infrared scan that creates
thermal images of the outside of the homes. With that being said they can measure the heat originating
from the inside of the house. An example of this new technology would be the case of Kyllo v. United
States, 533 U.S. 27 (2001), basically saying that the police collected info from the ultraviolet scan was
used and can be used with other evidence to create probable cause for a search warrant. Within the
case of Kyllo, the proof that was acquired from the search warrant was in fact used against Kyllo at
his trial for developing marijuana and the court of appeals confirmed the verdict but the Supreme
Court of the United States revered the

The Chrysalids by John Wyndham Essay
The Chrysalids, by John Wyndham is a great novel in my opinion. It occurs in the future but it focuses
on prejudices, intolerance and torture, issues that exist now and will always exist as long as we do. I
believe the novel has a very important message for readers today. In the novel, The Chrysalids, and in
reality presently, many human rights are being violated. First off, child abuse and torture is a major
factor in the novel. Secondly, the intolerance towards the women of Waknuk, and how they are
treated. Lastly, the deportation of people to other countries around the world, and other area s of
Labrador.
The first issue that is a major concern in the novel, is the torture and abuse towards David, and other
members in the novel. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another human right being abused in the book, is the intolerance towards the opposite sex. The
women of Waknuk, are too familiar with this sitution. Women in Waknuk are not aloud to work
outside of the home. The men believe their rightful place to be, is in the home. Cooking, cleaning,
having childern, and keeping the house is complete order. This exact thing is happening around the
world, even in our own communities today, as we speak. But I believe this intolerance is most severe
in a country called, Afghanistan. Women in this country cannot attend school, have no right to work,
cannot have male doctors only females attending them, and have even been ordered to stay in the
home. But if they do choose to go out, they cannot show their faces in public, go outside the house
alone, wear certain clothes, or even wear shoes that make a clicking sound. Women can not walk alone
even in their own neighbourhood without the fear of being stopped, beaten or detained particularly by
the religious police as suspected moral offenders. This is because there are more constraints placed on
the behaviour of women than men. For instance they are not allowed to go anywhere, or leave the
country without a male guardian or his written consent.
Lastly, the human right abuse being

Social Class Analysis
When trying to establish ones self in society we are typically concerned with what kind of social class
or rank we fall into. In society, people attempt to define themselves according to specific social class
by what kind of things they own or how they may act. The theory of conspicuous consumption coined
by the Norwegian American economist and sociologist Thorstein Veblen can help realize a further
understanding in social classes and how they influence people. In essence, the overall goal of
conspicuous consumption is to demonstrate superiority over some other group of people or social
class. Typically when someone is referred to as a redneck it is not exactly a good thing. When
classifying someone under a certain class status we usually consider the things they buy/own, where
they live, how they act, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However even though it can have a great influence, economic status does not solely define someone s
social class. In order to maintain a certain social class one must adhere to a set of standards set by
society for that social class. When considering JD8 s various home improvement projects, they do not
meet the social class qualifications that the author believes he and the rest of the people that live in the
neighborhood belong to. For JD8, it does not matter if his home improvement project has a positive or
negative effect on the appearance of his home but just rather does the end result of the project do what
it is supposed to do. Though for the author appearance is just as important as functionality as well.
According to Erving Goffman, cultivation restrictions are where the difference in opinion between
JD8 and the author lie. In the sense of sophistication of furnishings, JD8 s home improvement projects
do not meet the tastes of the author and therefor influence JD8 s social class according to the

The Importance Of Self Confidence
Believing that you that you are unacceptable or unlikable socially can be painful. Lack of self
confidence can make you get afraid to interact socially. When in situations where you will be observed
by others or where you need to speak in front of a crowd or to strangers you might feel anxious. This
might cause you to act awkward. You might avoid eye contact and behave too cautiously. The idea that
you are socially unacceptable might get reinforced to you when you feel that other people react
strangely towards you.
As the result of the challenges you face you might end up avoiding social contact even though you
know being in social places and interacting with others is a big part of any persons life. We cannot
always avoid social situations in living our daily lives. You might get invited to parties where friends
are celebrating or by colleagues at work celebrating their birthdays. It is not always possible to avoid
interacting socially.
So how do you improve social self confidence when you do not have it? Before I tell you how, let me
start by telling a little story about a rat.
When you have a rat in the house that eats up your tomatoes and messes up your fruits. To catch it,
you would need to know how and when and where it operates. You would want to catch it when the
house is quite with a piece of cheese in the mouse trap or place a rat poison in places where the rat is
likely to hang around.
A similar approach is applicable to improving self confidence. You need to

The Pros And Cons Of Aneuploidy Testing
Chromosome aneuploidies are common genetic defects that can lead to diseases such as Down
syndrome. Current methods of aneuploidy testing exist, primarily in the form of chorionic villus
sampling or amniocentesis. Although precise, these tests are invasive and may result in intrauterine
infection and miscarriage.
Of recent, fetal genetic material, found in maternal blood, has been used to screen for fetal aneuploidy
in high risk women. This allows a potentially safe and easy means for detecting chromosomal
abnormalities during pregnancy by means of a simple blood draw. However, limitations of cell free
DNA screening performance creates issues for expecting parents. Failure of cell free DNA screening
ranges from approximately 1% to 8% and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maternal mosaicism, undetected tumors, the vanishing twin syndrome, and confined placental
mosaicism, as well as technical errors, are possible causes of NIPS false positive results. However,
correct identification of the causes and eliminating the false positives of NIPS may improve the PPV.
Using MPSS with GC sequence bias corrections, the authors developed a wide separation of Z score
thresholds for affected and unaffected pregnancies. Affected pregnancies had a Z score 8 and
unaffected pregnancies had a Z score 4. Further investigation led to the correct identification of the
abnormality due to maternal microduplications and global maternal copy number variation. Although
rare, these causes for NIPS false positive results could be identified using the new detection screen
and improve the PPV.
Unfortunately, the authors report that 10% of the women in the trial that received positive NIPS results
for trisomy 21 elected to terminate the pregnancies without confirmation by amniocentesis. They
remark that biological and technical issues can still account for false positive results and that NIPS
should remain a screening test

Brain Tumors
Brain tumors are devastating depending on their malignancy and also their propensity to cause
neurological deficits which may cause permanent disability. Malignant brain tumors can occur at all
ages [1 2] and are associated with poor prognosis. Surgery forms the mainstay of treatment for brain
tumors [2 5]. It is well known that significant tumor decompression is associated with a relatively
favourable prognosis [6 10]. An important challenge in brain tumor surgery is the accurate recognition
of the tumor existence and positioning [11]. The tumor positioning has an unique importance in brain
tumor surgery. Tumors in the brain are surrounded by normal brain tissue. The lesions which are sited
within the substance of the brain are called intra axial tumors. Those in close proximity of the brain,
but displace brain tissue are called extra axial tumors. Even extra axial tumors may invade brain
tissue. In both cases, the functioning brain tissue surrounds the tumor.

and marking of the brain tumor position. The tumor boundary is defined by the operating surgeon in

The Role of Federal Agencies in Fighting Digital Crime Essay
Explain the existing challenges that result from the independent nature of these agencies, as well as
the other factors that are common to each of them. In the United States, local, state, and federal law
enforcement agencies, including FBI, Department of Homeland Security, among others, have taken on
roles to fight computer crimes and terrorism. The roles and responses of these law enforcement
agencies concerning digital crime have created challenges that limit enforcement efforts against digital

the lack of resources, expertise, training, and funding to solve cyber crime. Of these problems, are the

of pugilism. He links this with fatalities by stating that although a man can take a punch repeated

Rock And Roll Music Analysis
Rock n Roll music is a subgenre of the meta genre, Rock. Freed (2009, 169) described it by saying,
rock n roll is really swing with a modern name. Ennis (1992, 253) identifies, First, early rocknroll
allowed every performer to draw on the full musical resources of pop, country, and rhythm and blues.
and on rockhall.com (2014) his viewpoint is expanded upon,
The more immediate roots of rock and roll lay in the so called race music, or rhythm blues, and
hillbilly music, or county western of the Forties and Fifties. Other significant influences include blues,
jazz, gospel, boogie woogie, folk and bluegrass.
Rock n Roll drew inspiration from many different styles therefore it is a hybrid of multiple genres.

Generally, the time signature of Rock n Roll is 4/4, as it is in Pop, Country, Blues and many other
genres that Rock n Roll is inspired by. For the purpose of Rock n Roll, we can assume the common
time signature is 4/4 because it is simple and easy to move to. You didn t need to be a skilled dancer to
dance to it, essentially why it was kept simple. Rock n Roll makes use of syncopation and as songs of
this genre are usually in 4/4, the emphasis is on beats 2 and 4. Snowman (2009, 220) emphasises the
importance of syncopation by saying, All dance music makes use of this, and it s often a vital element
that helps tie the whole track together.
All these ingredients combined helps create the energetic beat, arguably the most identified ingredient
of Rock n Roll.
Although the foundation of the beat is very similar to that of Rhythm and Blues, it is clear to see how
Rock n Roll has built upon it, when we listen to the music. Initially, Rock n Roll songs were often just
recreated versions of existing Rhythm and Blues songs. Big Joe Turner s song Shake, Rattle and Roll

The Revolution Of The 1905 Revolution Essay
This along with his eagerness to arrest, imprison, exile, and hang his opponents only further divided
the tsar from the working class, earning him the nickname Nicholas the Bloody (Khrustalev and M.
Steinberg 25). The Russian people no longer felt safe under the tsar s rule. With more instances of
brutality accumulating on top of one another, the 1905 Revolution was inevitable.
Albeit the violent suppression of the 1905 Revolution, in the end it was regarded by revolutionaries as
semi successful. Nicholas II agreed to the institution of the State Duma, a limited form of
representative democracy, citing it as the revival of a custom and as a means to better hear the voice of
the Russian people. (Khrustalev and M. Steinberg 19). Although the Duma allowed for slightly more
political involvement by the people, the tsar remained the supreme autocrat (Chamberlin). Nicholas II
s rule continued, albeit much shakier than before. He decided to convene the Duma four times
altogether, each time experiencing conflict stemming from their calls for liberal reform and Nicholas s
refusal to compromise (Chamberlin). In the wake of the 1905 Revolution, Nicholas II was committed
to the ideal that traditionally conservative values and structures were necessary for Russia s survival,
and that failure to maintain these policies would be the cause of the decline of Russia sovereignty
(Khrustalev and Steinberg 5). Nicholas s conservative response to the revolution was misguided,

Resilience In The Movie Unbroken
The article, Unbroken: what makes some people more resilient than others, uses the example of Louis
Zamperini as shown in the movie, Unbroken, to examine the role of resilience in the ability to recover
after a traumatic event. Written by David Cox for The Guardian, the article discusses current research
on resilience, and explains how it can be used to treat post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Many
people experience a severe trauma in their lives, but only a few go on to develop PTSD. For a long
time, the focus has been on what makes people more susceptible to developing PTSD. A newer
approach to studying stress disorders, as the article establishes, is the study of resilience. Using the
example of Louis Zamperini, the article describes an interdisciplinary approach to studying resilience
including biological, social, and lifestyle factors.
The article begins by introducing the story of Louis Zamperini. Zamperini was an Olympic runner that
underwent a series of extraordinary circumstances. He was a member of the American Air Force in
World War II when his plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean. Zamperini was stranded in a tiny life raft
for forty seven days before being captured by the Japanese. He then spent two years in Japanese
concentration camps as a prisoner of war, enduring harsh punishment before being released. Cox
explains that after this severe physical and physiological trauma, Zamperini was able to eventually

Medical Devices Are Needed For Modern Medicine
I. Introduction: Medical devices used generally in hospitals, are the articles used in treating health
related issues e.g., a disease in humans or in animals with the purpose of curing them from the health
problem. These medical devices are needed for modern medicine as they perform many patient
monitoring and management functions. Such medical device is called implantable if it is partially or
totally introduced into the human body or placed on the surface of the body. In recent years,
implantable medical devices have been advanced through developments in science and engineering, as
well as in microelectronics, and biotechnology. Implantable Medical Devices (IMDs) are mostly used
to monitor and help treat medical conditions. These include pacemakers, implantable cardiac
defibrillators (ICDs), neuro stimulators and drug delivery systems, which help in managing many
diseases [1] and thus provide substantial improvement in healthcare by saving innumerable lives.
They help to achieve the vision of pervasive healthcare that is used for identification, monitoring, and
treatment of patients. Therefore, these devices have already been deployed in the body of many
patients. The use of IMDs for monitoring is expected to be grown further in the future. In 2005, the
number of insulin pump users was nearly 245,000 and the growing rate that is expected for the insulin
pump market is 9% from 2009 to 2016 [15]. In [16], as reported by Hanna et al., there are 25 million

John Grisham s A Painted House
The words of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Water, water, everywhere, / Nor any drop to drink (121 22)
might well be applied to John Grisham s A Painted House (despite the fact there was ample drinking
water) because of the prominence of water in the novel. From the water pump in the Chandler s yard
(Grisham 20) to the demand of Hank Spruill to Luke Chandler for a drink of cold water (46 47) to the
constant drone of the farmers about rain, rain, rain, (323), this monograph is filled with water. The
most conspicuous water, however, is the St. Francis River and its tributary, Siler s Creek. Since time
immemorial, water [has been recognized] as the preeminent symbol associated with creation, fertility,
rebirth, renewal, [and] good harvests (Stowkowski 25). Grisham, however, stretches the symbolic
meaning of the waters to include things far beyond these that have been traditionally associated with
them. Like many other aspects of the South, these bodies of water are two faced, having both
attractive and unattractive visages; they symbolize both positive and negative aspects (Osthaus 750).
The river and creek separate but also bring together. The river separates by serving as a boundary, in
Luke s words, for our side of the river (Grisham 184). Siler s Creek, observes Luke, ran along the
northern boundary of our farm (127). Things were different once the boundary was crossed. The world
on the other side was dangerous; in contradistinction, there was safety on the

Plato s Summary Of The Soul-City In The Republic
Plato s analogy of the Soul City in the republic proposes to examine justice at the communal level
instead of at the individual level. He does this due to the complexities that come with the individual. It
is difficult to observe encompassing ideas such as justice through something that is not fully
understood by the individual itself. Comparatively, the political community is created by the
individual which allows for better understanding, making it a better agent for this examination. This
analogy created by Plato is of foundational importance for areas of academia where logic plays a part.
This analogy creates 2 important precedents in the field of philosophy. The first is the permission to
compare large ideas and forms regardless of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He does this in an attempt to identify similarities between justice of the individual and justice of the
community. After some attempts to observe existing cities, Plato realized that the cities which existed
at that time were not fully just, rather they had elements of justice and injustice, making them
inadequate settings to examine. To accurately examine justice in the city, they decide to speak in the
hypothetical and create an ideal city. This imagined city contains unequivocal goodness and justice.
Plato speaks about the virtues that exist in the ideal city: wisdom, courage, moderation, and justice.
These virtues become directly related to the individual. Wisdom is the virtue of the ruler, courage the
virtue of the soldier, moderation the virtue of the producer. This is where the idea of the soul city
analogy starts to come full circle as Plato claims that in order for these virtues to exist in the city they

  • 2. Class Disparities In The Victorian Era While there were many advancements in technology and literature in the Victorian Era, there were also many disadvantages; these included child labor, class disparities, and atrocious living conditions. There were incredible novels, artwork, and machinery created during the Victorian Era. However, the people were treated horribly. Children were put to work, and severely abused while they were there. The poor were seen as dirt on the bottom of the upper class s shoes, and were rarely allowed to advance in society. Citizens lived in squalor, and many became ill because of it. Victorian society will always have a negative connotation because of how the people were treated during that time. Dickens is a major proponent of that connotation. He wrote ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The upper classes had all of the political power, and the middle and lower classes had absolutely none. There was also a group below the working class called the sunken class. They lived in poverty and struggled immensely in their daily lives. While the lower class people were working for a living, the rich were living glamorously. They had large houses, plots of land, and maids and butlers. Even with all of these amenities, the upper class paid no taxes. The citizens under the aristocrats paid nearly all of the taxes, even though they worked for pennies a day. This created hostility towards the upper class, and made the class disparity even more severe. In A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, Ebenezer Scrooge was a wealthy, upper class man. He did not do anything to help the poor or the lower class society. Meanwhile, Bob Cratchit had a sizable family that lived in a cramped house, and struggled to make ends meet. Scrooge treated Bob Cratchit, his employee, poorly, and said multiple times that the poor should be able to work their way out of poverty. He was incredibly disconnected from the lower classes, and this showed in his treatment of them. He was unaware of the struggles of the poor, and he was unwilling to learn until he was forced to. This is one very apparent example in fiction of the class disparities of Victorian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Garner Down Syndrome Kawanda Garner Down syndrome Down syndrome is a condition in which a person has an extra chromosome. Chromosomes are small packages of genes in the body that determine how a baby s body forms during pregnancy and how the baby s body functions as it grows in the womb and after birth. (CDC, 2014) John Langon Down first described Down s syndrome or Trisomy 21 in 1866. Trisomy 21 is caused by a combination of birth defects when there is a nondisjunction or an error in cell division during meiosis, resulting in a trisomy of chromosome 21. (Porth, 2011, p. 119) While the cause in unknown, evidence from cytogenetic and epidemiologic studies supports the concept of multiple causality. (Perry, 2010, p. 1183) Children with Trisomy 21 can be born ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Chang Kelly, 2007) According to the article published by Salimbene, (2000), children are highly valued and welcomed in most Bosnian families. Culturally, Bosnian s hold Physician s to a higher standard than nurses. They may request to hear a diagnoses or treatment options from the physician rather than a nurse. Teaching may become difficult if a relationship is not formed. The nurse should introduce themselves and state that the doctor has asked him/her to perform which ever test or procedure it is that is needed. The purpose of the upcoming testing should be explained thoroughly without going into the specific details about the procedure. (Salimbene, 2000) Bosnians prefer herbal or spiritual approaches to health care over western health care. Language barriers may become an issue as well so an interpreter should be utilized as needed to ensure information is passed along appropriately. It is critical to assess each patient individually and not make cultural assumptions about a patient s beliefs or health practices. (Chang Kelly, 2007). Many factors affect this process of parental adaptation, for example, the nature and severity of the child s conditions, preexisting family functioning level, cultural background, income level, the availability of social support, and the attitude of healthcare providers, especially at the time of diagnosis. • 6. Las Vegas, The Original City Of Sin Essay Las Vegas, the original City of Sin (Bull 2). Marketing campaigns flaunt the idea what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas (Bull 4). Now known for its attitude of permissiveness, especially regarding sexual behavior, Las Vegas has grown tremendously from it s humble beginnings as a simple rail stop between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City (Bull 2). In 1911, with a population of just over 2,000, Las Vegas was incorporated and its first mayor elected. Fast forward twenty years, and the population has almost quadrupled and gambling is legalized. Reminiscent of a perfect storm, the setting was ripe for exploitation: Las Vegas was distanced from other towns or cities, the railroad allowed people to easily travel, and legalized gambling opened up avenues for debasement. With it s remote location and legalized gambling, it was inevitable that big time mobsters would come onto the scene. Additionally, casinos were being erected, encouraging guests to spend money and drink liquor, thus leading to uninhibited behavior. Furthermore, by providing workers in the oldest profession there would be yet another way to line the pockets of the underworld figures who created the foundation for the Vegas of today. Russell W. Belk has argued, the idea that Las Vegas provides forbidden fruit and guilty pleasures;a vital part of the city s appeal (Bull 4). According to Hal Rothman, Las Vegas has a widely accepted role as a place where generations of Americans have been allowed to self indulge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Defining Love In Sir Thomas Wyatt And Samuel Daniels Sir Thomas Wyatt and Samuel Daniels have sonnets in which the speaker is attempting to define love. With one speaker stating his daily life and the other expressing the feeling through paradoxes, both ultimately end up with poems that are not conventionally good love poems. I allege that the reason they cannot effectively define love is that they do not truly understand it because their own egos blind them from it. The scope of both sonnets is restricted to simply the speakers focus and they spend all fourteen lines saying things of little consequence. Rather than getting across the point that they are in love, they are showing their disillusionment in regards to what love is because they are so self centered and thus inadept at writing poetry. I aim to reveal that these sonnets reveal more about the speakers than about love through their choice of rhyme scheme, rhetorical devices, meter, and repetition. The speakers use different rhyme schemes. I find no peace is a Petrarchan sonnet and If this be love is a Shakespearean sonnet. While not actually flouting the conventional patterns, the speakers use diction that hardly allows the sonnets to be easily identified by their rhyme schemes. In the first and fourth lines of I find no peace, for example, the speaker seems to rhyme done with on (Wyatt ll. 1, 4). Instead of altering the word choice to better fit the Petrarchan rhyme scheme, the speaker writes in the only diction he can think of. Wyatt s speaker is so focused on himself and his paradoxical experience of love that he fails to create an effective sonnet. We see a similar disregard for the standard form by Daniel s speaker. The rhyme scheme of a Shakespearean sonnet is there, though not obviously with the speaker attempting to rhyme thoughts and notes in the last quatrain (Daniel ll. 9, 11). I believe the weakness in the overall rhyme scheme implies that the speaker is careless of tradition. This loose rhyming shows a lack of regard for the form the speaker is attempting to emulate, further emphasizing the possibility that his goal has not been to define love but to prove to others, and himself, that he is in love. Wyatt s speaker describes love primarily by using paradoxes. However, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

World War II officially ended after Japan surrendered, putting an end to the deaths of soldiers from around the world. Japan s economy, which had taken a great hit later in the war, began to improve with the aid from the United States. The modern public is now well aware of the extensive damage these weapons caused, which has prevented further deployments of nuclear bombs, keeping the global public protected from nuclear warfare. With the lives lost in the decimated cities, there continue to be many more preserved. On the sixth and ninth of August in 1945, the United States dropped Little Boy and Fat Man onto the Japanese military and industrial cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki . Prior to the bombings, the Pacific War had already claimed over 35 million lives, or about half of World War II s total death toll . Japan was starting to lose traction by 1945, and the Allies needed to find a way to force them to surrender. Individuals are the building blocks of society. Individuals as human beings are social creatures who have a need to be in close quarters with other humans. Despite individuals being part of a society due to a common interest, they may experience issues regarding conflicting views that will affect their overall happiness thus affecting the efficiency at which society is functioning. For that reason, it is the duty of society to teach the individuals that reside in it to live their lives to the fullest, to think for themselves, as well as standing up for what they believe is right. Unfortunately, the authors report that 10% of the women in the trial that received positive NIPS results for trisomy 21 elected to terminate the pregnancies without confirmation by amniocentesis. • 26. Brain Tumors Brain tumors are devastating depending on their malignancy and also their propensity to cause neurological deficits which may cause permanent disability. Malignant brain tumors can occur at all ages [1 2] and are associated with poor prognosis. Surgery forms the mainstay of treatment for brain tumors [2 5]. It is well known that significant tumor decompression is associated with a relatively favourable prognosis [6 10]. An important challenge in brain tumor surgery is the accurate recognition of the tumor existence and positioning [11]. The tumor positioning has an unique importance in brain tumor surgery. Tumors in the brain are surrounded by normal brain tissue. The lesions which are sited within the substance of the brain are called intra axial tumors. Those in close proximity of the brain, but displace brain tissue are called extra axial tumors. Even extra axial tumors may invade brain tissue. In both cases, the functioning brain tissue surrounds the tumor. Various preoperative and intraoperative techniques have been utilized in neurosurgery for detection and marking of the brain tumor position. In the United States, local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, including FBI, Department of Homeland Security, among others, have taken on roles to fight computer crimes and terrorism. The roles and responses of these law enforcement agencies concerning digital crime have created challenges that limit enforcement efforts against digital crime. The Revolution Of The 1905 Revolution Essay This along with his eagerness to arrest, imprison, exile, and hang his opponents only further divided the tsar from the working class, earning him the nickname Nicholas the Bloody (Khrustalev and M. Albeit the violent suppression of the 1905 Revolution, in the end it was regarded by revolutionaries as semi successful. Nicholas II agreed to the institution of the State Duma, a limited form of representative democracy, citing it as the revival of a custom and as a means to better hear the voice of the Russian people. (Khrustalev and M. Steinberg 19). Although the Duma allowed for slightly more political involvement by the people, the tsar remained the supreme autocrat (Chamberlin). Nicholas II s rule continued, albeit much shakier than before. He decided to convene the Duma four times altogether, each time experiencing conflict stemming from their calls for liberal reform and Nicholas s refusal to compromise (Chamberlin). In the wake of the 1905 Revolution, Nicholas II was committed to the ideal that traditionally conservative values and structures were necessary for Russia s survival, and that failure to maintain these policies would be the cause of the decline of Russia sovereignty (Khrustalev and Steinberg 5). Resilience In The Movie Unbroken The article, Unbroken: what makes some people more resilient than others, uses the example of Louis Zamperini as shown in the movie, Unbroken, to examine the role of resilience in the ability to recover after a traumatic event. Written by David Cox for The Guardian, the article discusses current research on resilience, and explains how it can be used to treat post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Many people experience a severe trauma in their lives, but only a few go on to develop PTSD. For a long time, the focus has been on what makes people more susceptible to developing PTSD. A newer approach to studying stress disorders, as the article establishes, is the study of resilience. Using the example of Louis Zamperini, the article describes an interdisciplinary approach to studying resilience including biological, social, and lifestyle factors. The article begins by introducing the story of Louis Zamperini. Zamperini was an Olympic runner that underwent a series of extraordinary circumstances. He was a member of the American Air Force in World War II when his plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean. Zamperini was stranded in a tiny life raft for forty seven days before being captured by the Japanese. He then spent two years in Japanese concentration camps as a prisoner of war, enduring harsh punishment before being released. • 38. Medical Devices Are Needed For Modern Medicine I. Introduction: Medical devices used generally in hospitals, are the articles used in treating health related issues e.g., a disease in humans or in animals with the purpose of curing them from the health problem. These medical devices are needed for modern medicine as they perform many patient monitoring and management functions. Such medical device is called implantable if it is partially or totally introduced into the human body or placed on the surface of the body. In recent years, implantable medical devices have been advanced through developments in science and engineering, as well as in microelectronics, and biotechnology. Implantable Medical Devices (IMDs) are mostly used to monitor and help treat medical conditions. These include pacemakers, implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICDs), neuro stimulators and drug delivery systems, which help in managing many diseases [1] and thus provide substantial improvement in healthcare by saving innumerable lives. They help to achieve the vision of pervasive healthcare that is used for identification, monitoring, and treatment of patients. Therefore, these devices have already been deployed in the body of many patients. The use of IMDs for monitoring is expected to be grown further in the future. In 2005, the number of insulin pump users was nearly 245,000 and the growing rate that is expected for the insulin pump market is 9% from 2009 to 2016 [15]. John Grisham s A Painted House The words of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Water, water, everywhere, / Nor any drop to drink (121 22) might well be applied to John Grisham s A Painted House (despite the fact there was ample drinking water) because of the prominence of water in the novel. From the water pump in the Chandler s yard (Grisham 20) to the demand of Hank Spruill to Luke Chandler for a drink of cold water (46 47) to the constant drone of the farmers about rain, rain, rain, (323), this monograph is filled with water. The most conspicuous water, however, is the St. Francis River and its tributary, Siler s Creek. Since time immemorial, water [has been recognized] as the preeminent symbol associated with creation, fertility, rebirth, renewal, [and] good harvests (Stowkowski 25). Grisham, however, stretches the symbolic meaning of the waters to include things far beyond these that have been traditionally associated with them. Like many other aspects of the South, these bodies of water are two faced, having both attractive and unattractive visages; they symbolize both positive and negative aspects (Osthaus 750). The river and creek separate but also bring together. The river separates by serving as a boundary, in Luke s words, for our side of the river (Grisham 184). Siler s Creek, observes Luke, ran along the northern boundary of our farm (127). Things were different once the boundary was crossed. He does this due to the complexities that come with the individual. It is difficult to observe encompassing ideas such as justice through something that is not fully understood by the individual itself. Comparatively, the political community is created by the individual which allows for better understanding, making it a better agent for this examination. He does this in an attempt to identify similarities between justice of the individual and justice of the community. After some attempts to observe existing cities, Plato realized that the cities which existed at that time were not fully just, rather they had elements of justice and injustice, making them inadequate settings to examine. To accurately examine justice in the city, they decide to speak in the hypothetical and create an ideal city. This imagined city contains unequivocal goodness and justice. Plato speaks about the virtues that exist in the ideal city: wisdom, courage, moderation, and justice. These virtues become directly related to the individual. Wisdom is the virtue of the ruler, courage the virtue of the soldier, moderation the virtue of the producer. This is where the idea of the soul city analogy starts to come full circle as Plato claims that in order for these virtues to exist in the city they must exist in the individual with connected virtues. To do this he breaks down the individual soul into three parts. The intellect connected to wisdom, the spirit connected to courage, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
