World Peace And Security Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "World Peace and Security" can be both challenging and
rewarding. The complexity lies in the vast scope of the subject matter, as it encompasses a broad
range of historical, political, social, and cultural aspects. Crafting a thoughtful and well-
researched essay requires a deep understanding of global affairs, conflict resolution, international
relations, and the intricate balance between peace and security.
To begin with, the writer must delve into extensive research to gather relevant information from
diverse sources. This includes examining historical events, studying geopolitical dynamics, and
analyzing the policies of nations and international organizations. The multifaceted nature of the
topic demands a nuanced approach, where the writer must navigate through the complexities of
conflicts, diplomatic efforts, peacekeeping missions, and the role of various stakeholders in
maintaining global stability.
Furthermore, articulating a coherent and persuasive argument for the promotion of world peace
and security requires a profound understanding of the root causes of conflicts. Addressing issues
such as economic disparities, ideological differences, and cultural clashes necessitates a thorough
examination of both historical precedents and contemporary challenges.
The writer must also grapple with the ethical considerations surrounding peace and security.
Balancing the need for safeguarding nations against potential threats with the promotion of
human rights and social justice adds an additional layer of complexity to the essay. Striking a
harmonious chord between the pragmatic aspects of security and the aspirational goal of lasting
peace requires careful consideration and thoughtful analysis.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "World Peace and Security" is a formidable task that demands
a comprehensive understanding of global dynamics, diplomatic strategies, historical context, and
ethical dimensions. However, the process of exploring these complexities can lead to a profound
appreciation of the challenges and opportunities in fostering a more secure and peaceful world.

Environmental Issues In South Africa Essay
Introduction
Africa is the world s second largest and most populated continent after Asia. With 1.0
billion people as of 2009 accounting for about 14.72% of the entire human population.
Africa suffers from many environmental problems including deforestation, oil
pollution, air pollution, and land and water pollution. This issues is as a result of new
technologies leading to an increase in solid mineral mining, oil exploration, an
increase in the number of plants and factories, and on the whole increase in the
application of manufacturing tools. Consequently, the quality and richness of
terrestrial, freshwater, and marine environments have been polluted and has declined.
Other factors contributing to Africa environmental issues are rapid ... Show more

This has led to at the 2002 World Summit on sustainable Development (WSSD) which
was held in South Africa, the causes of water pollution were cited as: oil transmission
through shipping ports, poor water resources management, absence of effective
regional and basin development plans, and underestimation of the groundwater
potential to supplement irrigation and drinking water supplies.
To put the African environmental problem in proper viewpoint, some major
situations/countries will be looked at in terms of the environmental issue they are
facing at the moment.
1. Energy consumption in sub Saharan Africa varies dominates fuel consumption.
According to reports the use of wood for fuel is predominant in both rural and urban
locations and accounts for approximately 70% of total energy use. This is done by
cutting down trees which raises another environmental issue deforestation. In Sub
Sahara region of Africa, Nigeria consistently leads the commercial energy
consumption. Infact, according to data in 2001, Nigeria consumed 32% of all
energy consumed in the region. Although domestic demand for energy consumption
in sub Saharan Africa is growing rapidly, consumption levels remain well below
world averages. Africa is home to one of the world s largest rain forests. The
The Importance Of Screen Acting
Screen Acting Assignment.
There are many skills in the performing arts world, and as a professional actor, you
will need to acquire these skills in order to become the best actor you can be.
To start with, it is important that an actor follows the next two professional acting
rules. The first rule is to punctual. It is important to be punctual, as you may be
needed on the set to perform or rehearse lines before shooting. It could be argued that
being punctual is one of the most important rules an actor should follow, and without
punctuality, an actor or performer won t be cast in performances or hired. Therefore,
punctuality is a key skill an actor should learn, with techniques helping to keep
punctuality. For example, setting multiple alarms, or resetting your sleep schedule
have been proven to help people maintain their punctuality.
The second rule is being professional. As an actor, you may be needed to inspire or
empower others, and by not acting professional or being immature, you are letting
down your own work, the people who got you where you are now, but you are also
letting down yourself, in the sense that you aren t living to your full potential. It
could be argued that being professional increases the rate of employability as casting
agents will be more impressed with the attitude and behavior the actor is expressing.
Finally, it is important to act professional as you can promote respect, therefore losing
the lack of gender and sexual equality, and reducing the stigma around certain
character roles.
You will need to learn about the specific techniques known as technical skills. An
example of technical skills would be stage left and stage right. These skills are the
technical name for the sides of a stage. Actors use this term as they believe it is a
more technical and professional than the sides of a stage. Therefore, the technical
terms are skills that should be used on stage as it will make the actor sound a lot
more professional. It could be argued that knowing the technical terms stage left and
stage right allow the actor to act in a completely better manner, therefore resulting in
acting and looking more professional. Always remember that stage left and right are
from the actor s point
Stepping Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone
Many immigrants come to the United States in pursuit of opportunity, however they
struggle to adopt the dominant culture s language, which limits the job opportunities
available to them. Historically, immigrants assimilated by having to learn dominant
language, but this challenge led them to create ethnic enclaves that make them feel
more welcomed. Many enclaves in the United States, for example the Latino
population in San Francisco s Mission District, give a sense of comfort and nostalgia
of home because people from that community have similarities to their homeland.
Newcomers do not need to step out of their enclave because they have all the support
they need in their communities. Although many immigrants come to the United
States in hope of opportunity, they are limited to achieving and moving forward
because of their ethnic enclaves. Because these enclaves do not allow them to expand
into different cultures, they are limited both socially and economically.
Within ethnic communities, there are a huge number of people who face language
barriers that prevents them from seeking employment outside of their ethnic
community. People within these ethnic enclaves do not feel the need to learn the
dominant language, because the majority of the population with their community
speaks the same language as they do. Places like San Francisco s China town has
established their own enclave that includes everything from grocery shops to
hospitals. This

Social Darwinism in Cyberpunk Literature Essay
In the 1870s, the English sociologist Herbert Spencer applied Charles Darwin s
theories of biological evolution to human behavior and institutions. Spencer used
the idea of survival of the fittest in biology and theorized human society had evolved
the same way (Cooper 15). Social Darwinism, as Spencer s theory is called, pits
everyone against each other to survive in the world where humans are soldiers in a
war for survival. If a person is poor, it is their fault and no one should help that person
rise above the poverty status. If a person is rich, they are worthy of the position based
on their actions, even if morally wrong. So if one is poor, the person will be weeded
out of society while the rich survive.
The Social Darwinism of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not just the strong will survive, but the one with the strongest technology will
triumph. This is Cyberpunk.
For example, the story Burning Chrome by William Gibson illustrates the genre s
theme of characters manipulating technology to survive. The protagonists of
Gibson s story are Automatic Jack and Bobby Quine, a couple of hackers waiting
for their big score to come through. They need the financial windfall quickly too,
since Bobby is loosing his edge at the computer console and isn t getting any
younger. He was twenty eight, Bobby, and that s old for a console cowboy, (Gibson
170). Jack s job is to simply keep up with the hottest software to give the pair a
greater edge.
In general Gibson is describing two hackers losing the evolutionary battle for
survival. At age twenty eight, Bobby is already outdated. Cyberpunk is quick and
dirty when it comes to survival. The evolutionary fight is hard and normally a
character has one shot, like these two characters. What Jack and Bobby need is
something to place them above the rest of the hacker world, and in Cyberpunk that
can only be found though manipulating technology. This edge above competition
comes in the form of a black object:
It was obviously some kind of plug in military program. Out of the mailer, it looked
like the magazine of a small automatic rifle, coated with nonreflected black plastic.
The edges and corners showed bright metal, it had been knocked around for a while.

Capital Punishment And The Death Penalty Essay
Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is the lawful infliction of death as a
punishment. (thefreedictionary.com). The topic is quite controversial, as its merits
and effectiveness as a deterrent for crime have been argued many times over.
However, the death penalty is perfectly within reason, as it rids the streets of
criminals that have committed serious crimes and is also cheaper for the
government versus giving life sentences. Even so, there are many who are against
the death penalty. One such argument that has been made is that the death penalty is
barbaric because many innocents have been sent to their deaths. Although this
would be true if these opposers lived before 1986, that is not the case in today s
world because there is access to DNAtests and profiling. According to
www.interpol.int, Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) molecules contain the information
all living cells in the human body need to function. They also control the inheritance
of characteristics from parents to offspring. (interpol.int). DNA profiling play
important roles in crimes as it has the potential to link a series of crimes and to
place a suspect at the scene of a crime. Not only that, but also DNA can help to
prove a suspect s innocence. With DNA testing, no innocent person will die from the
death penalty simply because DNA tests can be used as concrete evidence to prove
the suspect s innocence.
To start off, one should know what exactly DNA profiling is and its use for
prosecution.
Analysis Of The Year Strike By Cesar Chavez
Despite harsh working conditions, farmworkers have worked constantly for years
due to the need of necessities for their families along with themselves. After
thorough investigation, I have come to a conclusion that even after so many years
of protesting as well as working diligently, farmworkers still have experienced
unacceptable working conditions, however they were not as bad as the past. There
was a definite need for a drastic change due to the working conditions of the
farmworkers. Conditions may have improved due to the social justices that Cesar
Chavez including The 5 Year Strike has gained. As I was comparing both working
conditions of today s farmworkers with farmworkers of other times in history, I have
come to find many differences... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the documentary, Viva La Causa, farmworkers have gained
minimum wages, rights, and a union. During the strike, the Delano growers had
connections with the police, therefore, they were armed with strong forces against
the picketers. The picketers were cruelly treated and we know this because the
article, Fighting for Farmworkers Rights: Cesar Chavez, The Delano Grape Strike
and Boycott stated, Picketers were sprayed with pesticides, threatened with dogs,
verbally assaulted, and physically attacked. However, Cesar Chavez responded
with the nonviolent way of sending his allies in the clergy to walk the picket lines.
In June of 1975, The California Agricultural Labor Relations Act, the only law in
the country that protects farmworkers right to unionize, was passed. The act stated,

One of the first steps involved in carrying out a preliminary investigation include
understanding the problem or opportunity in sight. The analyst must first identify
which department, users and business processes the system request is involved in to
evaluate and assess the causes and effects related in the proposed system. Defining
the project scope and constraints is the second step. With clear indications of the
projects boundaries or extent the project scope is determined, while the requirements
or conditions the system must confer to or achieve determine the projects constraints.
The third step in a preliminary investigation consists of fact finding techniques, that
involve the analyses of charts, interviews with users, managers and review of
documents , observing operations and finally user surveys. Followed by the fourth
step that includes the process of evaluating feasibility. This step consists of evaluating
the feasibility of the proposed projects operational, technical, economical and
The Struggle Of Slavery In Douglass, By J. Jacobs
Prior to the publication of any slave narrative, African Americans had been
represented by early historians interpretations of their race, culture, and situation
along with contemporary authors fictionalized depictions. Their persona was often
characterized as infantile, incompetent, and...incapable of achievement (Hunter Willis
11) while the actions of slaveholders were justified with the arguments that slavery
would maintain a cheap labor force and a guarantee that their suffering did not differ
to the toils of the rest of the struggling world (Hunter Willis 12). The emergence of
the slave narratives created a new voice that discredited all former allegations of
inferiority and produced a new perception of resilience and ingenuity.... Show more

Like Douglass, Jacobs also exposed the harsh treatment towards slaves while
proving that American blacks could succeed at the same activities as whites (Hunter
Willis 26) through her own narrated experiences. Her resolve to write demonstrated
a resistance to the patriarchal system of slavery (Peterson 158) by sharing the
exploits of slavery through her own point of view.
Shielded from the atrocities of slavery during her childhood, Jacobs depicts family
life among slaves as one that remains intact in a comfortable home (29) through the
example of her own family. Each member held limited rights along with the ability
to work and the privilege to use their earnings as they pleased. It is not until the
death of her mistress where she finally begins to feel the effects of slavery in the
sudden separation of her family who are all distributed among her [mistress s]
relatives (Jacobs 33). The separation of family is one of the most integral subjects
of her narrative since motherhood [plays a great role] in her life (Wolfe 518).
Jacobs appeals to the emotions of her female audiences by contrasting a slave
mother s agonies in her separation from her children with the happy free women
(40) whose children remain with her since no hand (40) has the right to take them
away. The separation of families in Douglass s narrative does call for some pity but
the event is not as tragic in comparison to

Security Issues in International Relations Are Best...
Security Issues are Most Effectively Addressed by a Neo Realist Approach to
International Relations. Discuss.
Security has been the source for much debate within International Relations; ranging
from the optimum way to provide security, through to the definition of security itself.
Neo Realism has, in the past, been the dominant approach to security issues within
International Relations. However, in the past few decades events such as the end of
the Cold War, international terrorism and globalisation have dramatically changed the
world, which has only intensified the debate over which approach most effectively
addresses security issues within International Relations. This essay seeks to argue that
although, at one time it may have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neo liberals are prepared to go to war but it is generally accepted as a last resort, with
the use of economic sanctions the preferred security method; the belief of peace via
co operation. Neo liberals view sanctions as a means of preventing a rogue state from
violating the international norms (Martin, 1992). The neo liberal understanding of
the international community lies within increasing interconnectedness and the utility
of international institutions such as the EU and UN. The security of Israel has
weakened in recent years due to threat posed by Iran and their suspected research into
the development of nuclear weapons. In 2005 the EU imposed trade sanctions on Iran
due to resuming of nuclear activities (European Commission, 2012). A form of
collective security occurs when all states stand to lose something from war; collective
insecurity leads to security. Kant would argue that even though the international
system is anarchic, alliances and treaties still exist as a form of power and security.
Buzan (1991) takes this further stating that although economic activity can generate
many different factions within in a state, the international economy itself becomes
powerfully tied together trade, finance and communication.
As previously mentioned, neo realists place an emphasis upon security via military
power, and whilst there is no denying that military security is
Toyota Prius Narrative
The 2012 Toyota Prius is rated for a payload of 825 pounds. In my three years of
driving the daily 60 mile school commute, I learned that this is only a rough
estimate. Many times have I found myself embarking upon the hourlong trek with
about five young men, their football equipment, and school supplies totalling
roughly 1,300 pounds. All the bottoming out over speedbumps and severely
decreased fuel efficiency tells a story of my formation as a person, as this
background has shaped who I am today. I was one of the first students in my class
and the first child in my familyto obtain a driver s license. Driving home from the
DMV alone, away from the watchful eye of a licensed California driver at least 25
years of age, was a liberating feeling. Like generations of adolescents receiving their
licenses for the first time, my smile was from ear to ear. But, along with this
privilege came a responsibility that I had... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This meant that I was free from coordinating carpools and long waits for rides after
school, which constituted so much of my life for the previous year and a half.
Having the freedom to walk out of school and hop in my car to head home was a
privilege that I enjoyed immensely and have sorely (and selfishly) missed. Soon,
classmates and teammates who lived close to me became aware that they had no
ride to summer practices for football and that I had my license. This was the start
of my bus service from the Santa Clarita Valley to Encino, CA. We exchanged the
Suburban that I had been driving for a Prius and I devoted two hours of everyday to
making sure a core group of teammates would make it to and from school. Was it
legal? Not necessarily. Would my insurance have been void had I been in an
accident? Yes. Did I believe I was doing the right thing? Most definitely. My family
and I accepted the risk and I was able to make use of some of the resources that I was
blessed with to perhaps bless
How Does Unemployment Affect The Economy
UNEMPLOYMENT
The United State economy has been affect in many ways. Unemployment is one of
these ways in which the economy is affected. Manufacturing companies are taking
their business else where therefore causing many to be lead off.
The fall of the economy at the end of our former president George W. Bush as led
many of our citizen to be unemployed. It is the second highest rate that this country
has seen since the 1980s. Our highest unemployment rate was in 1982 with a percent
of 10.80 of our citizen been unemployed. The unemployment rate of our society
today is at 9.60 percent leaving it 1.20 percent shy of 1982. According to the US
labor report of August 2010, The unemployment rate in the United States was last
reported at 9.60 percent in August 2010. From 1948 until 2010 the United States
Unemployment rate averaged 5.70 percent reaching an historical high of 10.80
percent in November of 1982 and a record low of 2.50 percent in May 1953 (CIOL,
20010). Since the Obama administration, I have seen some changes in our
Unemployment. Companies are hiring more than they did two years ago. Therefore
opening up new jobs for our citizen such as welding, construction, and banking.
In Conclusion, it is now time for us to focus on the big picture. It is not the time to
turn a blind eye to the problems our country. If we as a society and a country
continue to force, our government to think of the people and not of themselves there
will be great changes. If our

with a video clip titled Black Men in America and then we had a chance to have a

Americans males and portrayers them as criminals, drug dealers and rappers. In
the video Spike Lee, a film director explains how it s hard to push the media away
from the stereotype images of black men, because the viewers of these shows and

that he might be stopped by the police one day. His mother told him to always carry

The Ukrainian Chemical Industry And Petrochemical
Businesses
The Ukrainian chemical industry includes chemical and petrochemical businesses.
Products produced in Ukraine include mineral fertilisers, non organic acids, such as
sulphuric acid, and sodium bicarbonate. The petrochemical industry also
manufactures car and motor cycle tyres, hoses, and consumer goods. While some of
these items have applications in CW and CW decontamination, it is extremely
unlikely that Ukraine is using them in this context given the absence of several other
important components. State owned enterprises account for less than 20 per cent of
chemical industry enterprises but comprise over 30 per cent of the products. The
remaining enterprises are owned collectively, with open and close joint stock
companies being the predominant form. Within the structure of the industry, asset
and energy intensive basic chemistry enterprises are predominant. In order to stem the
flow of nuclear, biological or chemical (NBC) weapons scientists and to prevent the
illicit transfer of weapons usable material from former Soviet research institutes,
foreign funding has allowed for the creation of grant assistance programmes at the

Centre in Ukraine, and the Anti Plague Institute in Odessa, among others. These
projects are supported by a number of international funders, including: the Nuclear

Psychological And Emotional Effects Of Psychological Abuse
Psychological abuse, which includes verbal and emotional abuse, is a widespread
and common problem in our society. Mary Jo Fay (2007), states that verbal abuse,
includes name calling, shouting and yelling. She also goes on to say that emotional
abuse: includes blaming, accusing and restricting your freedom like preventing you
from using the phone or talking to family members, or recording the mileage on your
car to see if you ve driven somewhere not allowed. Attempting to confuse you
mentally (Types of Abuse section).
What makes psychological abuse such a large issue is that it is not recognized by
most as a true form of abuse. Therefore, the victims of psychological abuse cannot
get the help that they need. This is such a critical problem because the only way
for the victims of psychological abuse to be helped is for the bystanders of this
crime to recognize and take a stand for the victims. The everyday people in the lives
of psychologically abused victims need to be the ones that help them because these
critical bystanders are the only ones who can.
The reason that psychological abuse is not taken seriously is that there is a mass
cultural acceptance that people are going to say mean things. People in our culture
are taught at a young age that everyone should just take the insults in stride and keep
moving forward with their lives. All of which is accurate to some degree; however,
there comes a point when the line between mean kids, rude co workers, and spouses

identifying how the elements of my lifestyle have impacted the cycle. As it general
know that water is very essential to life in the ecosystem, through varieties of
purposes water is good for, like drinking, cooking, bathing, washing/cleaning,
building, toiletflushing, farming and irrigation. Water has a significant effect in the
life of a man, and the absence can lead to great occurrence, which can even lead to
death, if care is not taken. And as from the readings, Water is essential to life
because it is the substance within which all the chemical reactions of life take place
(Dorsner. K, 2015, p.181). From my part however, my impact on the water cycle...

This is because water is very essential to my well being, health, and existence. If I
reduce the drinking pattern, I can be dehydrated, with less of water, which can
cause health problem. If I reduce to take bath regularly, I may start developing
body odor, and unhygienic condition can started surfacing. Also, if I reduce water
for cooking, I may not be nourished enough to live in the ecosystem. Besides, I
cannot reduce the amount of water I needed for washing and cleaning purpose, due
to my hygienic condition. Further, water is needed in large quantity to wet my
farm land. And if a decided to reduce this, the crops will die, and the entire farm
system will be greatly affected. In fact, I do not need to give up any of the purpose
water is rendering for me at the moment. But the only thing is to contribute to the
prevention of water from being contaminated by oil spillage in my
Encounters with Angels in the Bible Essay
The Bible contains many stories of people having an encounter with angels. An
encounter alludes to an unexpected meeting. The word angel is a transliteration
from the Hebrew word mal ak in the Old Testament (Strong s H4397) and the Greek
word angelos in the New Testament (Strong s G32). Both words mean messenger
and describes one who executes the plan and will of the person whom they serve.
God, the Creator of all things in heaven and on the earth both the visible and
invisible, created an innumerable quantity of angels. The angels were designed by
Him for His glory.
For it was in Him that all things were created, in heaven and on earth, things seen and
things unseen, whether thrones, dominions, rulers, or ... Show more content on

Satan and a third of the angels were kicked out of heaven. The second heaven is the
stellar realm of stars and heaven. The third heaven is beyond the telescope. Some
holy angels abide on earth to minister to mankind for the work of redemption. In the
Old Testament, Jacob dreamed of a ladder between heaven and earth where he saw
angels ascending and descending. The ascending and descending on the ladder is an
affirmation and confirmation of the covenant that God made with Abraham. God said
He will be with Jacob until He fulfills the Abrahamic Covenant.
And behold, I am with you and will keep (watch over you with care, take notice of)
you wherever you may go, and I will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave
you until I have done all of which I have told you. (Genesis 28:15, AMP)
In the New Testament, Jesus informed Nathaniel that angels ascend and descend
upon the Son of Man. (John 1:51) Jesus reference to Jacob s dream advocates Him
as the Messiah, the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one can enter into heaven except
by Him. (John 14:6) The fulfillment of God s covenant is indicative of Jesus dying
on the cross and His resurrection. The crucified and risen Jesus Christ is the object of
mankind s faith. And the pinnacle of faith is to believe in Jesus without seeing Him.
Jesus said to him, Because you have seen Me, Thomas, do you now believe (trust,
have faith)? Blessed
The Rights And Effectiveness Of Drugs
Abstract This paper will explore The Kefauver Harris bill that which ensured
prescription drug manufacturers to provide proof of the security and effectiveness
of drugs before administering them to consumers. The background information
used in this paper comes directly from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration
website as well as from The New England Journal of Medicine to give an in depth
view on how the amendment was established. The focus will be primarily on the
effect of law, the criticism, support and opposition received as a result of the law s
ratification. Additionally, further discussion into the Kefauver Harris Amendment

Realism, Liberalism, And Marxism
Realism, liberalism, and Marxism are all different perspectives that can be used to
analyze situations and aid government officials to understandings and agreements in
relation to trade. Lawrence Herman s article focusses on the potential destruction of
the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) caused by the disturbing and
unacceptable proposals by the United Statespresident, Donald Trump. There are
many different views on Free trade but three main perspectives are the realist views,
which claim that all nation states have to rely upon their own resources and security
and act in pursuit of their struggle for power and self interest, liberal views, which
approve of free trade, and lastly, through Karl Marx s theory of Marxism.... Show

Tariffs overall are pro producer and anti consumer which is why the United States are
making these destructive proposals, they are all to provide security and self help.
Consequently, through realism the zero sum game would likely aid the United States
and the United states only with their economic gains.
Liberalism is another concept that has significant arguments regarding international
relations. Liberal economics have determined the shape of the monetary system and
support the concept of open markets, where individuals have the freedom to engage
in commerce. Unlike realists, liberals oppose mercantilism and the zero sum game
much like the countries in NAFTA. This disagreement is the cause of many
disagreements during the NAFTA negotiations. If countries are able to work together
and trust one another to attain power, conflict is less likely to occur and overall
economic wealth for countries can be gained. Through free trade, the goal is to have
a decreased amount of wasted resources on inefficient production because the more
individuals that engage in this collective use of resources the more likely the system
would become efficient and acquire heightened economic gains such as wealth. )
Finally, there is the liberal institutionalism perspective which approves of regimes and
international organizations. Utilizing these rules through rapid growth of regimes,
regulate economic affairs, determine which activities are allowed and disallowed, and

The British Renaissance Produced Many Types of Literature and Was Influenced By
Shakespeare, Marlow, and Spenser
The British Renaissance produced many types of literature for the world to see.
Shakespeare, Spenser, and Marlowe all contributed to the shaping of the time period.
Christopher Marlowe s quot; The Passionate Shepherd to His Love quot; portrays one
of the typical love poems that can be seen from the Renaissance. A man is in search
of the love of another girl, or woman. Sir Walter Raleighwrote a poem in response to
this passage of Marlowe s entitled quot; The Nymph s
Reply to the Shepherd. quot; Although the name of the girl is not stated anywhere in
the former poem, Raleigh decided to use a wood nymph as his subject. The ... Show

His age also brings up another very interesting view of Marlowe s. In the poem,
Marlowe expresses the idea that age has no influence upon love and a person s
feelings.
The shallow rivers, waterfalls, birds singing, and flowers all personify the
Shepherd s feeling that age has nothing to do with love and his hopes of winning the
younger girl s heart. The scene that is created is highly discernible as
Spring, the time of year associated with love and light heartedness. The allusions to
these things also demonstrates the Shepherd s hollow sense of hope.
The Shepherd tries to lure the girl by offering her everything in the world.
This materialism clearly shows that Marlowe believes that only fancy trinkets and
beautiful possessions will win the heart of a girl. In virtually every stanza, there is a
reference to a nicety that the Shepherd offers the girl in pursuitof her love.
A belt of straw and ivy buds,
With coral clasps and amber studs;
Christopher Marlowe s Shepherd clearly believes that the only surefire way of
attaining love would be to offer as much as you can and lure your subject into a false
sense of being loved by giving her (or him) the world.
The world means nothing to Sir Walter Raleigh s Nymph, the girl Raleigh presumes
to be the object of the Shepherd s pleas, in his poem entitled quot; The
Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd quot; in direct response to Christopher Marlowe. The
beautiful forest creature is young compared to the elderly

Toll House Cafe is one of the most developed and successful franchises known.
Henri Nestle, a German entrepreneur, began the fundamentals of Nestle Toll House
Cafe in 1867 when he invented a nutritious product for infants that mothers who
were not able to breastfeed could utilize. This nurturing product is what gave the
Nestle brand the security, affection, nourishment, and nature that everyone looks
for when trying to buy a trustworthy product. During the years, Henri Nestle created
specific brands of chocolates. His best chocolate was milk chocolate, which over
the years, he perfected and the Nestle Semi Sweet Chocolate bar. The Semi Sweet
Chocolate bar also led to one of the best creations that made his company
successful until this day. Henri Nestle passed away in 1890, but his products are
still being created and sold. A young woman, Ruth Wakefield, purchased a Cape
Cod style toll house that was located near Boston. For over hundreds of years, tons
of people passed through the toll house to pay tolls, change horses, eat well cooked
meals, and to even sleep in. Ruth one day was trying to make something new for the
business, a dessert that everyone would love. Ruth incorporated the Nestle Semi
Sweet Chocolate bar into her new creation by breaking it up into pieces and added

Reliability And Validity Of Test Scores
In tests and assessments validity refers to the degree where theoretical and empirical
evidence supports the meaning and interpretation of the test scores (Reynolds
Livingston, 2013). Validity is important in testing and assessment as validity refers to
credibility from a trustworthy source. In this respect, validity is important for
scientist and professionals to select appropriate methods that support the meaning and
interpretation of testscores. In psychology, reliability is concerned with stability and
consistency (Reynolds Livingston, 2013). Reliability focuses on the context of
measurementwhich can be influenced by endless factors, that can affect a score

Reliability and validity can use improvement in terms of testing and assessment.
Reynolds and Livingston (2013) suggest that by adding more test questions can
improve the reliability and validity (Reynolds Livingston, 2013). Another suggestion
is for constructs and content to be clearly defined, otherwise, scores can get lost in
interpretation (Reynolds Livingston, 2013). The bottom line is that testing and
assessments are not for everyone. A person interested in pursuing psychometricsfield
must truly have a calling and interest in such a profession as it can be complex
with many factors to consider. In a sense, psychometricians are pioneers and
innovators who seek to answer questions of observations made. Thus, reliability
and validity may be more clearly defined by a person who has a clear idea of what
they are interested in testing. From a scholar s perspective, this writer utilizes

Fall Seven Times Get Up 8 Summary
Fall Seven Times, Get up Eight is a short documentary on Japanese women who
married American men after World War II and moved back to The United States to
start their lives. After the bombing in Japan roads and streets were not even
identifiable much less easy to navigate. About 10,000 Japanese women married GI s
that were stationed in Japan. The women first started talking to the men through a
newspaper ad that advertised teaching Gi s Japanese in exchange for English
conversations. The GI s were told to stay away from these women which was
impossible for them. As relationships formed these Japanese traveled back to the
United Statesto start new lives and families. However, the Japanese idea of The
United States was completely transformed as soon as they saw what their lives were

He accuses Adams for murder of Wood as he was in the event with Adams.
Immediately, Morris cuts to the red light after Harris interview, which simply
implies a suspicion of Harris guilt. Morris starts pulling our attention from this part
to look back on Adams guilt and Harris accusation. Moving on with his effort,
Morris continues to study the details of the story by continuing to interview Adams
and Harris. The two men continue the story how they came to meet each other until
a shooting event of Wood occurred. Morris does this beginning part to study Adams
case as he believes Adams was wrongly convicted and Morris was a real murderer.
The movie keeps progressing to support Morris belief of unlawful legal
proceedings and unjust conviction. Morris recreates a series of events to prove
his belief by establishing recreations. The first recreation is Adams interrogation
that he was asked to confess to the shooting of Wood but he would not confess to
what he had not done. He says, I do not remember anything after I got back to the
motel. I was not in a car during the shooting and I did not kill anybody. However,
the police officers do not believe Adams and suspect him as a murderer because of
evidence from Harris and the surprise witnesses. They continue investigating the case,
but no additional evidence can be found. To close the case fast, the police department
states that Adams singed a confession that he had confessed

gold, all they found was recently cut grass, giving place to the name the grass

returning with reinforcements, but that it was a foraging group sent from the
garrison early in the morning to gather feed for the hungry cavalry horses. The
majority of the volunteers were very disappointed with the finding but a few of
them saw the silver lining the victory represented. That the Siege of Bexar was
working. That Gen. Cos was getting desperate with the lack of food and supplies
available to him, to the point that he was risking his men in order to acquire feed
for his horses. The loss of feed was just as damaging, if not more, to the Mexicans
than the loss of a silver and gold shipment, since the horses cannot eat silver or gold.
This provided an invaluable insight to Gen. Burleson. The victory as well
temporarily lifted the morale of the All Volunteer Army, later on aiding in the final
push to oust Gen. Cos and the Mexican Army from the Alamo after their surrender,

Fructose Research Paper
Fructose is said to be toxic to the liver. Only liver cells break down fructose in the
body. Fructose is found in its normal state when you bite into a fruit. Now
manufactures are producing fructose from corn, sugarcane, and beets, but they strip
fiber and good nutrients in the process of doing so. Fiber is what slows down the
fructose processing in the liver. In the liver when fructose is broken down,
triglycerides are formed when an excess amount of fructose is consumed, more then
the body can handle. Triglycerides build up in the liver and can potentially take
away the livers ability to perform all its basic functions. Triglycerides can too travel
to surrounding organs as well as the bloodstream. What this leads to is non alcoholic

Discrimination Towards The Lgbt Community
Throughout the years, the LGBT community has put forth tremendous effort to gain
rights and recognition in the United States. Yet there have been numerous laws that
have discriminated and made them feel unequal. LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual, and Transgendered. Many people in the community have a hard time
accepting who they truly are in terms of sexual orientationor gender identity. Coming
out is challenging enough on its own, and laws and regulations that discriminate
against those who only wish to live freely can make it hard for them to do so.
Living in the time period we do, we have seen many changes in the right direction as
far as having equal rights for all, but it has not always been this way. There have been
many movements and actions the LGBTcommunity has taken over the years to get
to where we are today. There have also been many laws and regulations specifically
targeted at same sex and transgendered individuals, some of which that still apply
today. Discrimination towards the LGBT community is not something new. Although
today it may seem normal to see two men holding hands walking down the street,
forty years ago it was almost unheard of. This is why the Supreme Court case Baker
vs. Nelson made headlines. In 1972, the Court ruled that a Minnesota same sex
couple had no constitutional right to marry. This all started when two male
University of Minnesota students went to fill out a marriage application form. When
the clerk denied the application

The thing which fascinated me towards his work was that the novels were mainly
inspired by the social discrimination in the form of apartheid, and disintegration of the

J. M. Coetzee s writings reflects the conditions of the people living in the era of

king a Look at Cancer
Cancer
Cancer is a disease, caused by uncontrolled cell division to form a malignant growth
or tumour in the body.
There are three types of cancers:
1)Carcinomas: A cancer that affects the skin and the epithelial tissues lining certain
organs and glands. It may spread to other parts of the body but generally stays in the
cells where it started.
2)Sarcomas: A cancerthat affects bone, cartilage and muscle tissue.
3)Leukemias: A cancer that affects the blood and lymphatic system. Leukemia
usually starts in the white blood cells.
The Liver
The reason I chose to research liver cancer, was because both my Aunt and my
Grandfather passed away due to liver cancer and it may be hereditary so it would
be interesting for me to see what the main liver cancer causing agents are and how to
lower the risk of getting it.
Normal functions of the Liver:
A healthy liver is the largest gland in the body. It has many functions which include
storing vitamins and nutrients, producing proteins, creating bile for digestion and
undergoing the process called Deanimation, which removes the nitrogen from the
excess amino acids. The liver also breaks down alcohol, drugs, poisons, solvents and
pesticides. It also makes cholesterol, converts excess glucose into glycogen and
convert glycogen back into glucose if needed.
Liver cancer
Liver cancers are malignant tumours that grow inside or on the surface of the liver.
They form from the liver or structures inside the liver, for example, blood

Using Phones And Other Mobile Devices
Modern technology has changed the way students learn new materials in the
classroom. Although it is a common belief that smartphones, tablets, and other
mobile devices are often seen as a distraction to the learning process, they also have
many benefits to the learning process. The use of cellphones and other mobile
devices can promote student engagement in the classroom and provide new ways of
learningthat are appealing to the modern student. When used in an effective way and
under proper teacher supervision, students learning experiences can be enhanced
with the use of educational mobile apps and interactive learning games available on
mobile devices. Mobile devices are different from a laptop because they are smaller

Mobile apps are a useful tool to help students reflect on what they learned and build
up a confidence for learning. ReFlex and TeamUp were implemented in a select
group of K 12 classrooms in the U.S (Leinonen et al.). After conducting pilot studies,
researchers found that using ReFlex and TeamUp made it easy for teachers and
students to integrate more reflection into everyday classroom learning (Leinonen et
al.) Researchers concluded that it was not the app itself that encouraged students but
rather the well guided use of the apps by teachers that helped students reach their full
potential and fully understand the material being presented (Leinonen et al). While
these apps focused mainly on student reflection, they serve as a model for other apps
used to motivate student learning and progress.
In addition, using mobile devices provides students with more opportunities to be
creative and become more excited about learning. There is a wide selection of
mobile apps dedicated to learning that can be altered to a student s specific needs
(Powell 1). Mobile apps can be selected based on the curriculum goals and standards
and also allows for the teacher to monitor a student s learning while providing
feedback (Powell 2). Apps
Gilmore V. Enogex Case Study
In Gilmore v. Enogex, Inc., 878 P. 2d 360 (Okla. 1994), while citing Hinson,

solely on the language of an employee manual; in Hayes, 905 P 2d at 783 (

Population Growth In America
The United States population is growing rapidly. At a rate of 0.7% per year
currently, that equates to about 9 million new people a year, after the number of
deaths are accounted for. With the number of people seen on the streets rising and
the number of incarcerated criminals dropping to around 0.2%, it is difficult to see
where all these new people are going to fit into society. As hard as it is to imagine a
new baby born every eight seconds, that is the reality currently facing America.
However, while this type of populationgrowth is likely going to cause America s
demise, another country is currently populating at a rate even America cannot
compete with: India. At an astonishing 1.7% increase per year, India is currently
populated with almost 900 million more people than the United States. With less than
half the land size and an undeniable need for more resources to survive, India has
been faced with the largest increase of population within the last century. However,
unlike the United States, India s government has taken crucial steps towards helping
to control their population. Albeit, their methods are a bit unorthodox and incredibly
appalling by Western standards. Regardless, in order to maintain a... Show more

Although no set standards have been implemented by the Indian government
regarding birth control and population control, there is still an overwhelming
number of female sterilizations being performed each year. While around 37% of
females in India have chosen to be permanently sterilized, the vast majority of men
have declared that male vasectomies are considered culturally unacceptable.
Additionally, the selected abortion of girls in addition to the sterilization of women
of child bearing age has caused the ratio of women to men, in some communities, to
be as small as eight to ten, with the younger generation being more susceptible to a

The Influence Of The Nuremberg Trial On International...
For the victorious parties of war to determine the process of justice makes a
significant assumption that those parties will attempt to apply an extension of the
just war theory to include jus post bellum in that they will endeavor for a just and
lasting peace. This assumption is problematic for three reasons. First, nothing
guarantees that as a belligerent concludes acts of war that it has any intention
whatsoever of establishing peace. Second, the victor enjoys the privilege of deciding
what constitutes genocide or mass violence. Finally, the possibility always exists of
atrocities committed by the victor. Ultimately, in the Nuremberg Trial, the victor
retained the prerogative to determine that the wrongs performed by the Nazis were so
calculated, so malignant and so devastating, that civilization cannot tolerate their
being ignored because it cannot survive their being repeated. (Jackson, Opening
Address for the United States) In this example, four victorious nations controlled the
responsibility to determine the requirement for a trial, negotiate the employment of
the appropriate system of law, determining the definition of criminal entities, and
defining international law and that of a sovereign nation (Rosen, ed., The Influence
of the Nuremberg Trial on International Criminal Law ).
Genocide During The Holocaust
During 1933 through 1945 the Holocaust occurred that took place in Germany. The
Holocaust is one of the world s most well known topic of genocide in modern
history. During the Holocaust many people lives were perished because of brutal
acts by Nazi s and Germans. Once Hitler became chancellor of Germanyon January
30, 1933, many Jews were endangered to be killed. Until May 8, 1945, when the war
in Europe ended. During the war many Jews were persecuted and would be killed.
By 1933 there was a population of more than 9 million Jews in Europe and a large
portion of they were killed in Germany or countries operated by Germany. The Nazis
were also known as the National Socialist Party, they also complied with orders from
Hitler. These... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The persecution rate of Jews increased in 1938 that involved humiliation, beatings,
and vandalism. The first action committed by the Nazis towards Jews was
limitations on places for Jews the next was Kristallnacht, the night of the broken
glass. Kristallnacht was created in vengeance of a Polish Jew Herschel Grynszpan
who shot Ernst Vom Rath. Rath was a German embassy official that was stationed
in Paris when a 17 year old short him. Days before the shooting Jews were stripped
of their polish citizenship living in Germany. Kristallnacht was then taken out of
retaliation against Jews. This occurred on November 9 10, 1938, and was planned
by the German government against Jews. The government organized mobs that
would torch Jewish stores. This did not only occur in Germany it happened in
Austria and some areas of the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia, occupied by German
troops. During those two days Jews were afraid of being attacked by Nazis. Nazis
would torch down synagogues, jewish homes, businesses, and schools. Some Jews
were so afraid they did not want to take the risk of leaving their homes and getting
attacked. Twenty six thousand men were arrested during Kristallnacht and sent to
Concentration camps. Such as Dachau, Buchenwald, and Sachsenhausen. In those
two days alone at least 91 Jews were killed. 7,500 shops were looted from and 191
synagogues were destroyed. Apart from stealing items from stores mobs would smash
the windows that would create disturbances to the neighbors. To torment the Jews
even more the damage committed during Kristallnacht had to be payed by Jews.
Even though this did not eliminate the Jews if showed them that they were not
welcomed and that was just the beginning
Censorship In Education
Censorship In the Education System Often times, many ask why tools used to
enhance the learning of children are removed or revoked. Books, magazines, poems,
and films are all subjected to this offence, and most affected are children in the
education systems. Censorship has been happening for ages and is still continuing.
With religious, political, and moral censorshipthe affects on a child s learning is
astronomical. While, there are plus sides to this process, something must be done in
order for America s educationsystem to begin to measure up to those of other
countries. Therefore, this process must stop, and we must face the fact that
censorship is wrong and detrimental to society, and most importantly the youth of this
country. Practiced... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often times, parents and school board members cause a lot of material to be taken
off the shelves, but there are some that are fighting against censorship. Warren County
school board members voted 3 2 against banning the book Flowers for Algernon .
Challenged a plethora of times this book even made it on the American Library
Association s 100 most challenged list. This book contains sexual content, drug use,
and profanity. And although these topics aren t appropriate for school, they are topics
that will not be hidden from their daily lives. Out of all five school board members,
only two of them voted for removing the book, Traggott made this comment about the
appropriateness in that particular school saying that, Although many students see
movies and other entertainment containing profanity, drug use and sex, that isn t a
reason it should be included in school materials (White para. 14). The other three
members that voted toward keeping the book countered that, the main character is an
adult and his own actions do not encourage students that these actions are suitable for
their age group

  • 2. Environmental Issues In South Africa Essay Introduction Africa is the world s second largest and most populated continent after Asia. With 1.0 billion people as of 2009 accounting for about 14.72% of the entire human population. Africa suffers from many environmental problems including deforestation, oil pollution, air pollution, and land and water pollution. This issues is as a result of new technologies leading to an increase in solid mineral mining, oil exploration, an increase in the number of plants and factories, and on the whole increase in the application of manufacturing tools. Consequently, the quality and richness of terrestrial, freshwater, and marine environments have been polluted and has declined. Other factors contributing to Africa environmental issues are rapid ... This has led to at the 2002 World Summit on sustainable Development (WSSD) which was held in South Africa, the causes of water pollution were cited as: oil transmission through shipping ports, poor water resources management, absence of effective regional and basin development plans, and underestimation of the groundwater potential to supplement irrigation and drinking water supplies. To put the African environmental problem in proper viewpoint, some major situations/countries will be looked at in terms of the environmental issue they are facing at the moment. 1. Energy consumption in sub Saharan Africa varies dominates fuel consumption. According to reports the use of wood for fuel is predominant in both rural and urban locations and accounts for approximately 70% of total energy use. This is done by cutting down trees which raises another environmental issue deforestation. In Sub Sahara region of Africa, Nigeria consistently leads the commercial energy consumption. Infact, according to data in 2001, Nigeria consumed 32% of all energy consumed in the region. Although domestic demand for energy consumption in sub Saharan Africa is growing rapidly, consumption levels remain well below world averages. Africa is home to one of the world s largest rain forests. The
  • 3. The Importance Of Screen Acting Screen Acting Assignment. There are many skills in the performing arts world, and as a professional actor, you will need to acquire these skills in order to become the best actor you can be. To start with, it is important that an actor follows the next two professional acting rules. The first rule is to punctual. It is important to be punctual, as you may be needed on the set to perform or rehearse lines before shooting. It could be argued that being punctual is one of the most important rules an actor should follow, and without punctuality, an actor or performer won t be cast in performances or hired. Therefore, punctuality is a key skill an actor should learn, with techniques helping to keep punctuality. For example, setting multiple alarms, or resetting your sleep schedule have been proven to help people maintain their punctuality. The second rule is being professional. As an actor, you may be needed to inspire or empower others, and by not acting professional or being immature, you are letting down your own work, the people who got you where you are now, but you are also letting down yourself, in the sense that you aren t living to your full potential. It could be argued that being professional increases the rate of employability as casting agents will be more impressed with the attitude and behavior the actor is expressing. Finally, it is important to act professional as you can promote respect, therefore losing the lack of gender and sexual equality, and reducing the stigma around certain character roles. You will need to learn about the specific techniques known as technical skills. An example of technical skills would be stage left and stage right. These skills are the technical name for the sides of a stage. Actors use this term as they believe it is a more technical and professional than the sides of a stage. Therefore, the technical terms are skills that should be used on stage as it will make the actor sound a lot more professional. It could be argued that knowing the technical terms stage left and stage right allow the actor to act in a completely better manner, therefore resulting in acting and looking more professional. Always remember that stage left and right are from the actor s point
  • 4. Stepping Out Of Your Comfort Zone Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone Many immigrants come to the United States in pursuit of opportunity, however they struggle to adopt the dominant culture s language, which limits the job opportunities available to them. Historically, immigrants assimilated by having to learn dominant language, but this challenge led them to create ethnic enclaves that make them feel more welcomed. Many enclaves in the United States, for example the Latino population in San Francisco s Mission District, give a sense of comfort and nostalgia of home because people from that community have similarities to their homeland. Newcomers do not need to step out of their enclave because they have all the support they need in their communities. Although many immigrants come to the United States in hope of opportunity, they are limited to achieving and moving forward because of their ethnic enclaves. Because these enclaves do not allow them to expand into different cultures, they are limited both socially and economically. Within ethnic communities, there are a huge number of people who face language barriers that prevents them from seeking employment outside of their ethnic community. People within these ethnic enclaves do not feel the need to learn the dominant language, because the majority of the population with their community speaks the same language as they do. Places like San Francisco s China town has established their own enclave that includes everything from grocery shops to hospitals. This

  • 6. Social Darwinism in Cyberpunk Literature Essay In the 1870s, the English sociologist Herbert Spencer applied Charles Darwin s theories of biological evolution to human behavior and institutions. Spencer used the idea of survival of the fittest in biology and theorized human society had evolved the same way (Cooper 15). Social Darwinism, as Spencer s theory is called, pits everyone against each other to survive in the world where humans are soldiers in a war for survival. If a person is poor, it is their fault and no one should help that person rise above the poverty status. If a person is rich, they are worthy of the position based on their actions, even if morally wrong. So if one is poor, the person will be weeded out of society while the rich survive. The Social Darwinism of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not just the strong will survive, but the one with the strongest technology will triumph. This is Cyberpunk. For example, the story Burning Chrome by William Gibson illustrates the genre s theme of characters manipulating technology to survive. The protagonists of Gibson s story are Automatic Jack and Bobby Quine, a couple of hackers waiting for their big score to come through. They need the financial windfall quickly too, since Bobby is loosing his edge at the computer console and isn t getting any younger. He was twenty eight, Bobby, and that s old for a console cowboy, (Gibson 170). Jack s job is to simply keep up with the hottest software to give the pair a greater edge. In general Gibson is describing two hackers losing the evolutionary battle for survival. At age twenty eight, Bobby is already outdated. Cyberpunk is quick and dirty when it comes to survival. The evolutionary fight is hard and normally a character has one shot, like these two characters. What Jack and Bobby need is something to place them above the rest of the hacker world, and in Cyberpunk that can only be found though manipulating technology. This edge above competition comes in the form of a black object: It was obviously some kind of plug in military program. Out of the mailer, it looked like the magazine of a small automatic rifle, coated with nonreflected black plastic. The edges and corners showed bright metal, it had been knocked around for a while. • 7. Capital Punishment And The Death Penalty Essay Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is the lawful infliction of death as a punishment. (thefreedictionary.com). The topic is quite controversial, as its merits and effectiveness as a deterrent for crime have been argued many times over. However, the death penalty is perfectly within reason, as it rids the streets of criminals that have committed serious crimes and is also cheaper for the government versus giving life sentences. Even so, there are many who are against the death penalty. One such argument that has been made is that the death penalty is barbaric because many innocents have been sent to their deaths. Although this would be true if these opposers lived before 1986, that is not the case in today s world because there is access to DNAtests and profiling. According to www.interpol.int, Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) molecules contain the information all living cells in the human body need to function. They also control the inheritance of characteristics from parents to offspring. (interpol.int). DNA profiling play important roles in crimes as it has the potential to link a series of crimes and to place a suspect at the scene of a crime. Not only that, but also DNA can help to prove a suspect s innocence. With DNA testing, no innocent person will die from the death penalty simply because DNA tests can be used as concrete evidence to prove the suspect s innocence. To start off, one should know what exactly DNA profiling is and its use for prosecution.

After thorough investigation, I have come to a conclusion that even after so many years of protesting as well as working diligently, farmworkers still have experienced unacceptable working conditions, however they were not as bad as the past. There was a definite need for a drastic change due to the working conditions of the farmworkers. However, Cesar Chavez responded with the nonviolent way of sending his allies in the clergy to walk the picket lines. • 11. The Struggle Of Slavery In Douglass, By J. Jacobs Prior to the publication of any slave narrative, African Americans had been represented by early historians interpretations of their race, culture, and situation along with contemporary authors fictionalized depictions. Their persona was often characterized as infantile, incompetent, and...incapable of achievement (Hunter Willis 11) while the actions of slaveholders were justified with the arguments that slavery would maintain a cheap labor force and a guarantee that their suffering did not differ to the toils of the rest of the struggling world (Hunter Willis 12). The emergence of the slave narratives created a new voice that discredited all former allegations of inferiority and produced a new perception of resilience and ingenuity.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like Douglass, Jacobs also exposed the harsh treatment towards slaves while proving that American blacks could succeed at the same activities as whites (Hunter Willis 26) through her own narrated experiences. Her resolve to write demonstrated a resistance to the patriarchal system of slavery (Peterson 158) by sharing the exploits of slavery through her own point of view. Shielded from the atrocities of slavery during her childhood, Jacobs depicts family life among slaves as one that remains intact in a comfortable home (29) through the example of her own family. Each member held limited rights along with the ability to work and the privilege to use their earnings as they pleased. It is not until the death of her mistress where she finally begins to feel the effects of slavery in the sudden separation of her family who are all distributed among her [mistress s] relatives (Jacobs 33). The separation of family is one of the most integral subjects of her narrative since motherhood [plays a great role] in her life (Wolfe 518). Jacobs appeals to the emotions of her female audiences by contrasting a slave mother s agonies in her separation from her children with the happy free women (40) whose children remain with her since no hand (40) has the right to take them away. The separation of families in Douglass s narrative does call for some pity but the event is not as tragic in comparison to

Security has been the source for much debate within International Relations; ranging from the optimum way to provide security, through to the definition of security itself. Neo Realism has, in the past, been the dominant approach to security issues within International Relations. However, in the past few decades events such as the end of the Cold War, international terrorism and globalisation have dramatically changed the world, which has only intensified the debate over which approach most effectively addresses security issues within International Relations. Neo liberals are prepared to go to war but it is generally accepted as a last resort, with the use of economic sanctions the preferred security method; the belief of peace via co operation. Neo liberals view sanctions as a means of preventing a rogue state from violating the international norms (Martin, 1992). The neo liberal understanding of the international community lies within increasing interconnectedness and the utility of international institutions such as the EU and UN. The security of Israel has weakened in recent years due to threat posed by Iran and their suspected research into the development of nuclear weapons. In 2005 the EU imposed trade sanctions on Iran due to resuming of nuclear activities (European Commission, 2012). A form of collective security occurs when all states stand to lose something from war; collective insecurity leads to security. Kant would argue that even though the international system is anarchic, alliances and treaties still exist as a form of power and security. Buzan (1991) takes this further stating that although economic activity can generate many different factions within in a state, the international economy itself becomes powerfully tied together trade, finance and communication. As previously mentioned, neo realists place an emphasis upon security via military power, and whilst there is no denying that military security is

Many times have I found myself embarking upon the hourlong trek with about five young men, their football equipment, and school supplies totalling roughly 1,300 pounds. All the bottoming out over speedbumps and severely decreased fuel efficiency tells a story of my formation as a person, as this background has shaped who I am today. I was one of the first students in my class and the first child in my familyto obtain a driver s license. Driving home from the DMV alone, away from the watchful eye of a licensed California driver at least 25 years of age, was a liberating feeling. Soon, classmates and teammates who lived close to me became aware that they had no ride to summer practices for football and that I had my license. This was the start of my bus service from the Santa Clarita Valley to Encino, CA. We exchanged the Suburban that I had been driving for a Prius and I devoted two hours of everyday to making sure a core group of teammates would make it to and from school. Was it legal? Not necessarily. Would my insurance have been void had I been in an accident? Yes. Did I believe I was doing the right thing? Most definitely. My family and I accepted the risk and I was able to make use of some of the resources that I was blessed with to perhaps bless

The video clip, Black Men in America, explains how mainstream media has a negative image of African Americans males and portrayers them as criminals, drug dealers and rappers. In the video Spike Lee, a film director explains how it s hard to push the media away from the stereotype images of black men, because the viewers of these shows and movies don t want see positive actions, they want to see violence. Products produced in Ukraine include mineral fertilisers, non organic acids, such as sulphuric acid, and sodium bicarbonate. The petrochemical industry also manufactures car and motor cycle tyres, hoses, and consumer goods. While some of these items have applications in CW and CW decontamination, it is extremely unlikely that Ukraine is using them in this context given the absence of several other important components. State owned enterprises account for less than 20 per cent of chemical industry enterprises but comprise over 30 per cent of the products. The remaining enterprises are owned collectively, with open and close joint stock companies being the predominant form. • 19. Psychological And Emotional Effects Of Psychological Abuse Psychological abuse, which includes verbal and emotional abuse, is a widespread and common problem in our society. Mary Jo Fay (2007), states that verbal abuse, includes name calling, shouting and yelling. She also goes on to say that emotional abuse: includes blaming, accusing and restricting your freedom like preventing you from using the phone or talking to family members, or recording the mileage on your car to see if you ve driven somewhere not allowed. Attempting to confuse you mentally (Types of Abuse section). What makes psychological abuse such a large issue is that it is not recognized by most as a true form of abuse. Therefore, the victims of psychological abuse cannot get the help that they need. This is such a critical problem because the only way for the victims of psychological abuse to be helped is for the bystanders of this crime to recognize and take a stand for the victims. The everyday people in the lives of psychologically abused victims need to be the ones that help them because these critical bystanders are the only ones who can. The reason that psychological abuse is not taken seriously is that there is a mass cultural acceptance that people are going to say mean things. People in our culture are taught at a young age that everyone should just take the insults in stride and keep moving forward with their lives. All of which is accurate to some degree; however, there comes a point when the line between mean kids, rude co workers, and spouses

The word angel is a transliteration from the Hebrew word mal ak in the Old Testament (Strong s H4397) and the Greek word angelos in the New Testament (Strong s G32). Both words mean messenger and describes one who executes the plan and will of the person whom they serve. God, the Creator of all things in heaven and on the earth both the visible and invisible, created an innumerable quantity of angels. The angels were designed by Him for His glory. Some holy angels abide on earth to minister to mankind for the work of redemption. In the Old Testament, Jacob dreamed of a ladder between heaven and earth where he saw angels ascending and descending. The ascending and descending on the ladder is an affirmation and confirmation of the covenant that God made with Abraham. God said He will be with Jacob until He fulfills the Abrahamic Covenant. And behold, I am with you and will keep (watch over you with care, take notice of) you wherever you may go, and I will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done all of which I have told you. (Genesis 28:15, AMP) In the New Testament, Jesus informed Nathaniel that angels ascend and descend upon the Son of Man. Lawrence Herman s article focusses on the potential destruction of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) caused by the disturbing and unacceptable proposals by the United Statespresident, Donald Trump. There are many different views on Free trade but three main perspectives are the realist views, which claim that all nation states have to rely upon their own resources and security and act in pursuit of their struggle for power and self interest, liberal views, which approve of free trade, and lastly, through Karl Marx s theory of Marxism.... Liberalism is another concept that has significant arguments regarding international relations. Liberal economics have determined the shape of the monetary system and support the concept of open markets, where individuals have the freedom to engage in commerce. Unlike realists, liberals oppose mercantilism and the zero sum game much like the countries in NAFTA. This disagreement is the cause of many disagreements during the NAFTA negotiations. If countries are able to work together and trust one another to attain power, conflict is less likely to occur and overall economic wealth for countries can be gained. Through free trade, the goal is to have a decreased amount of wasted resources on inefficient production because the more individuals that engage in this collective use of resources the more likely the system would become efficient and acquire heightened economic gains such as wealth. ) Finally, there is the liberal institutionalism perspective which approves of regimes and international organizations. Christopher Marlowe s quot; The Passionate Shepherd to His Love quot; portrays one of the typical love poems that can be seen from the Renaissance. In the poem, Marlowe expresses the idea that age has no influence upon love and a person s feelings. The shallow rivers, waterfalls, birds singing, and flowers all personify the Shepherd s feeling that age has nothing to do with love and his hopes of winning the younger girl s heart. The scene that is created is highly discernible as Spring, the time of year associated with love and light heartedness. The allusions to these things also demonstrates the Shepherd s hollow sense of hope. The Shepherd tries to lure the girl by offering her everything in the world. This materialism clearly shows that Marlowe believes that only fancy trinkets and beautiful possessions will win the heart of a girl. In virtually every stanza, there is a reference to a nicety that the Shepherd offers the girl in pursuitof her love. A belt of straw and ivy buds, With coral clasps and amber studs; Christopher Marlowe s Shepherd clearly believes that the only surefire way of attaining love would be to offer as much as you can and lure your subject into a false sense of being loved by giving her (or him) the world. Today, there is increasing evidence of scientific management becoming dated as we become more focused on incorporating ideologies of modern management approaches. Chowdhury claims that, There is much truth in the saying that every living practitioner is prisoner to the ideas of a dead theorist. (2000, pp. 21). It is emphasised here how our view of theorists has dramatically changed over time and one of the reasons for this different perspective as seen in this century is discussed by Grint, Management theory, especially American management theory, has generally been construed to represent this rational development towards a more effective system over time. (1997, pp. 48). Due to gradual changes in management practices, it is evident that Taylor s theory is arguably becoming less significant. By examining Taylor s theory and its impact on business management practices today, it is evident that there are still supporters as well as increasing critics of his concept. Whilst there are indications of successful implementation of his practices in businesses today, there are also many negative facets of his theory regarding its impact on the employee. Mobile apps are a useful tool to help students reflect on what they learned and build up a confidence for learning. ReFlex and TeamUp were implemented in a select group of K 12 classrooms in the U.S (Leinonen et al.). After conducting pilot studies, researchers found that using ReFlex and TeamUp made it easy for teachers and students to integrate more reflection into everyday classroom learning (Leinonen et al.) Researchers concluded that it was not the app itself that encouraged students but rather the well guided use of the apps by teachers that helped students reach their full potential and fully understand the material being presented (Leinonen et al). While these apps focused mainly on student reflection, they serve as a model for other apps used to motivate student learning and progress. In addition, using mobile devices provides students with more opportunities to be creative and become more excited about learning. There is a wide selection of mobile apps dedicated to learning that can be altered to a student s specific needs (Powell 1). Mobile apps can be selected based on the curriculum goals and standards and also allows for the teacher to monitor a student s learning while providing feedback (Powell 2). Apps

  • 42. Population Growth In America The United States population is growing rapidly. At a rate of 0.7% per year currently, that equates to about 9 million new people a year, after the number of deaths are accounted for. With the number of people seen on the streets rising and the number of incarcerated criminals dropping to around 0.2%, it is difficult to see where all these new people are going to fit into society. As hard as it is to imagine a new baby born every eight seconds, that is the reality currently facing America. However, while this type of populationgrowth is likely going to cause America s demise, another country is currently populating at a rate even America cannot compete with: India. At an astonishing 1.7% increase per year, India is currently populated with almost 900 million more people than the United States. With less than half the land size and an undeniable need for more resources to survive, India has been faced with the largest increase of population within the last century. However, unlike the United States, India s government has taken crucial steps towards helping to control their population. Albeit, their methods are a bit unorthodox and incredibly appalling by Western standards. Regardless, in order to maintain a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 43. The Influence Of The Nuremberg Trial On International... For the victorious parties of war to determine the process of justice makes a significant assumption that those parties will attempt to apply an extension of the just war theory to include jus post bellum in that they will endeavor for a just and lasting peace. This assumption is problematic for three reasons. First, nothing guarantees that as a belligerent concludes acts of war that it has any intention whatsoever of establishing peace. Second, the victor enjoys the privilege of deciding what constitutes genocide or mass violence. Finally, the possibility always exists of atrocities committed by the victor. Ultimately, in the Nuremberg Trial, the victor retained the prerogative to determine that the wrongs performed by the Nazis were so calculated, so malignant and so devastating, that civilization cannot tolerate their being ignored because it cannot survive their being repeated. (Jackson, Opening Address for the United States) In this example, four victorious nations controlled the responsibility to determine the requirement for a trial, negotiate the employment of the appropriate system of law, determining the definition of criminal entities, and defining international law and that of a sovereign nation (Rosen, ed., The Influence of the Nuremberg Trial on International Criminal Law ).

Days before the shooting Jews were stripped of their polish citizenship living in Germany. Kristallnacht was then taken out of retaliation against Jews. This occurred on November 9 10, 1938, and was planned by the German government against Jews. The government organized mobs that would torch Jewish stores. This did not only occur in Germany it happened in Austria and some areas of the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia, occupied by German troops. During those two days Jews were afraid of being attacked by Nazis. Nazis would torch down synagogues, jewish homes, businesses, and schools.
