Active Learning
 for Students
“Tell me and I forget. Show me and I
remember. Involve me and I understand.”
- Chinese proverb
What is Active Learning?
• Active Learning happens
  when students are given
time to work with the topic
  by interacting, games,
  activity, drawings, making
  maps

• Students are no longer mere
  receivers of information but
  they work and understand to
  generate knowledge.

• The role of the teacher shifts
  to being a facilitator.
Importance of Active Learning?
• Research suggests that
  active learning is an
  exceptionally effective
  learning methodology.
• Regardless of subject
  matter, when compared to
  traditional learning
  methods, students learn
  more material, retain the
  information longer, and can
  recall the information with
  ease.
• Much more later…

MEMORY/LEARNING & THE 3 R’s
 Three step process of learning
1. Register: It can also be termed as intake of information.
This process of registering can be enhanced with far
superior methods. By improving the quality of intake of
information we improve the over- all memory and ability to
     learn and recall.

2. Retention: Is when the information gets converted from
short term memory to long-term memory. Long term
memory is like a volcano which can be dormant or active.
Dormant information in the memory is of no use as it cannot
be recalled. Only memory which is active can be recalled at
     any required time.

3. Recall: Process of using the information which is stored in
the memory. When we improve the quality of register and
retention, recall improves automatically. Resulting in
     students performing better MYWS

Based on the understanding of 3R’s
we work with; The Stages Of Learning
1) State of mind

2) Intake of Information
Ways to improve on the intake process

3) Remembering and Activating
Ways to improve the Conceptual Understanding
     Ways to Improve Memory
Activation; as the information in the memory is like the volcano which
can be active or dormant. Dormant information can never be
recalled and it is only active information which can be recalled
