Who is a Teacher?
The most important factor in the contemplated educational reconstruction
is the teacher – his personal qualities, his educational qualifications,
his professional training and the place that he occupies in the school
as well as in the community. The reputation of a school and its influence
on the life of the community invariably depends on the kind of the teacher
working on it.

Who is a Leader?
Leadership is "the behavior of an individual directing the activities of a group toward a shared goal.
(Hemphill & Coons, 1957)

•the learning zealot,
• the personal disruptor,
•the tough-minded optimist, and
•the eager experimenter.

TEACHING
• Teaching is a disciplined social process in which teacher influences the behaviour
of the less experienced pupil and helps him develop according to the needs and
ideas of the society. (Morrison)
• Teaching is human engineering and soul doctoring.
PREACHING
• The delivery of a sermon or religious address to an assembled group of people,
typically in church.( Wikipedia Dictionary)
• The giving of moral advice in a pompously self-righteous way.
LEADERSHIP
• Leadership is a communication process of maximizing people potential and
influencing people to achieve a shared goal, in a given situation (Lo, 2008).
• Leadership is largely a social construction based on the values and events of
the times. The idea of a leader is shaped by what people in a culture think a
leader ought to be .(Ciulla,2004) (pp. 116).

TEACHING • Teaching is a disciplined social process in which teacher influences the behaviour of the less experienced pupil and helps him develop according to the needs and ideas of the society. (Morrison) • Teaching is human engineering and soul doctoring. PREACHING • The delivery of a sermon or religious address to an assembled group of people, typically in church.( Wikipedia Dictionary) • The giving of moral advice in a pompously self-righteous way. LEADERSHIP • Leadership is a communication process of maximizing people potential and influencing people to achieve a shared goal, in a given situation (Lo, 2008). • Leadership is largely a social construction based on the values and events of the times. The idea of a leader is shaped by what people in a culture think a leader ought to be .(Ciulla,2004) (pp. 116). 11

Responsibilities of a Teacher 20  Considers the individual differences among students & accepts them as a whole.  Conscious about the security and rights of students.  Respects the privacy of students- keep the necessary information of students confidential.  To switch roles for students – Negotiator, organizer, mediator, friend- philosopher- guide.  Keep a check on his body language and use of vocabulary towards students.  Planning & Execution.  Provide democratic environment to students. Teacher are not only responsible towards students but also towards the community and society.
