Q3. What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and why?

Media Institution
 What is media Institution?
 Music institution is a type of company who writes, designs and
produce a music magazine, specifically made for there target
audience.
 There are many other types of institution and a wide variety of
them and they will all differ by target audience, producing
something without reaching the requirements for there target
audience would give the product a bad review because it
doesn’t suit them.
 An example for different types of is the film industry, news
papers and radio program.

Examples of institutions
 MixMag- MixMag is a electronic music magazine
institution, their target audience is aimed for 24
year olds and male. They are one of the top dance
themed music magazine in UK and in other
countries. They interviewed many famous musical
artists and producers like Skrillex, Avicii and many
more.
 DJ Magazine- DJ Magazine is like MixMag but its
more house anthem (progressive house) they are
very popular because they have there own awards
for the top 100’s DJ in the world. This mean they
are very known to the music industry

Why am I publishing my
music magazine?
 My music magazine is themed as electronic music from the year
2008-2015, I chose these part of the year because this was when
the electronic music industry began to change and turn into new
music types like ‘Trap’. This changed the music industry because
when everyone heard it they then thought Dubstep (popular music
late 2008) sounded like a rock version of electronic music. On the
other hand there are lots of news article and information's in the
electronic music tech.
 The artists in my magazine would have an interview but because
of the budget, interviewing artist can be very expensive e.g.
transport, renting rooms and equipment's. So to interview an artist
we have to make sure that the artist in on tour so our interviewers
can go backstage with the artist and do a quick interview, doing
this would be more appropriate because of the low budgeting.

Who would publish and distribute
my music magazine?
 Music distributers like DJ mag, would be a very choice
because they publish electronic music magazines, also
choosing this company would be more appropriate
instead of publishing it on a NME (New Musical Express)
which is an rock music magazine, which then wouldn’t
suit there target audience.
 Publishing from a magazine company like Dj mag would
mean having a large audience. Having a large audience
would make my magazine very popular and would be
seen world wide in multiple platforms digitally (phones,
tablets, pc’s etc..) and on paper.
