1. Q3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
2. EMAP Limited(East Midland Allied Press) This is the company which published “Smashed Hits” a popular pop magazine throughout the 1980’s. http://www.emap.com/ EMAP would be suitable for publishing Pulse as it has been an established publishing company since 1947 and has had experience with the 80’s genre.
3. About EMAP EMAP is a multiplatform media group, whose brands inform, inspire and connect within the sectors they operate in. It maintains an undiluted focus on content and product quality across online and offline publications, conferences, awards, exhibitions, festivals etc. EMAP’s ethos is routed in innovation, in making brave decisions for a better offering that meet and exceed customer demands intelligently and proactively.
4. Top of the Pops I think that Top of the Pops would be suitable to advertise in my magazine because this was a very popular show throughout the 80’s as well as the significance of TV over the 80’s period. http://www.bbc.co.uk/totp/ Top of the Pops target audience is significant to Pulse’s target audience of young females.
5. About Top of the Pops Top of the Pops was a British chart music TV program made by the BBC and was broadcast weekly from 1st January 1964 to 30th July 2006. I think that this will be good for advertising in Pulse because of its significant contribution to 80’s music.
6. CD Walkman (Discman) I think that the (Sony) CD walkman would be suitable to advertise in Pulse because the walkman was a significant product throughout the majority of the 80’s, especially influencing the music scene, which is practical seeing as I have produced an 80’s music magazine! The first CD walkman was launched in 1984 which makes links it my my 80’s genre. http://www.sony.co.uk/hub/walkman?campaignId=15004039&s_kwcid=walkman|5287161137 However technology has improved from this period.
7. “Online presence” I don’t feel that it is appropriate to have an online version of Pulse, this is because I have chosen an 80’s genre, and at this time music magazines were appreciated in a different way as to what they are now. They were seen as a treat, you couldn’t just log on to the internet and get the exact same information, just in a different context.
