2. Target Audience
• We have quite a different target audience to many of today’s. This is because our
target audience age was 28 and over this is because of the genre of music we would
have had featured on our station and it would’ve mainly of been 90s dance music.
This is because we thought it would be better to aim our audience at a different age
group rather than ourselves so we can get a better picture of what other people have
an interest in.
• There wasn’t a specific gender that we aimed our radio station at this is because we
believed that at the time 90s dance music was out everyone had an interest in it no
matter what age you were. Also within the radio station there is a very mixed content
so there is something for both genders.
• The socio economic group that our station was aimed at was the working class and
this is because at the time of the 90s music it was mainly working class people that
had a real interest in it and actually listened to it. Therefore we thought it would be
beneficial to aim our radio station at the working class group.
3. Profile of the listener
• Creating an ideal person that would listen to our broadcast would not be your
everyday person. This is because our genre of music is different to your everyday
radio station which includes the UK Top 40. Ours include 90s dance music so
therefore our ideal profile of the listener would be someone who was preferably
born in the early 80s as they would’ve been a teenager going through the 90s
listening to the dance music.
• We think the person would have other interests in your general things as we
haven’t got a specification of what a listener should have an interest in.
• We think that the profile of the listener would just wear a T shirt and skinny
jeans and desert sand boots as this is what your normal 28+ would wear.
4. Any Questionnaires?
• We conducted around 10 questionnaires, basing the questions on some of the
things we might include based on our personal opinion. We asked people what
they would like to hear on our radio broadcast. We found out that people wanted
to hear 90s dance music as most of the people that answered our questionnaire
were in their late 20s.
• As this was the majority we went with this as we already had an idea that we
were to do this.
