Yoga Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Yoga Essays" can present a unique set of challenges. Firstly, the
breadth of the subject matter is vast, encompassing historical origins, philosophical
underpinnings, various schools and styles, as well as practical applications and contemporary
debates. Narrowing down such a broad topic into a coherent and focused essay requires careful
research and analysis.
Additionally, the topic of yoga often intersects with spirituality, cultural contexts, physical
health, mental well-being, and even political and economic dimensions in some cases. Balancing
these multiple dimensions while maintaining a clear thesis and argument can be challenging.
Moreover, the popularity of yoga has led to a plethora of literature and perspectives, ranging
from traditional texts like the Yoga Sutras to modern scientific studies on its effects. Navigating
through this abundance of information to select relevant sources and incorporate them
effectively into the essay requires critical thinking and synthesis skills.
Furthermore, given the personal nature of yoga practice for many individuals, there may be
diverse and deeply held beliefs and experiences associated with it. Addressing these sensitively
while presenting an objective analysis can be tricky.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on "Yoga Essays" demands not only a comprehensive
understanding of the subject matter but also the ability to navigate its complexities and nuances
while maintaining clarity and coherence in argumentation.

Landmark Decisions Of The Supreme Court
AMERICAN GOVERNMENT HONORS RESEARCH PROJECT Landmark
Decisions of the Supreme Court Your Quarter II project will involve research on a
landmark Supreme Court decision. Your paper should include internal citations
and a formal bibliography. At least one of your sources needs to be non Internet.
Note: If you fail to do parenthetical citations in your paper, you will receive an
automatic F on your paper. The paper should be double spaced, 10 or 12 point, and
follow the format found in the Media Handbook. It should be between 2000 2500
words in length (approximately 6 8 pages). In addition, you will be required to
submit your paper electronically via turnitin.com . When the Supreme Court is
deciding whether to hear a case or not, there are many things that it takes into
account. First off, if the Case will resolve a conflict of law, then the case will be
heard. A conflict of law is basically when the state supreme courts and federal
circuits reach different conclusions about an issue of federal or constitutional law,
and when that happens the supreme court can resolve the conflict of law by
deciding the law. Second, The Supreme Court will consider hearing a case that they
deem important or that they say has high significance. Some of these important cases
consist of U.S. v Nixon, which was about the Watergate tapes, Bush v. Gore, which
was about the insanely close election in 2000 and also Roe. v. Wade, which concerned
Analysis Of The Article Death Of High School By Kim...
Introduction
The two articles that I chose both went hand in hand with the struggle of learning
and teaching literature. I chose the article One High School English Teacher
because it complements my first article, Death to High School English . In this
essay, I will summarize and interpret the first article to show the deeper meaning of
it. Then I will research my second article and show the author s credibility to help
prove my argument, and finally I will tie together all my main points of my essay.
Summary
In the article Death to High School , written by Kim Brooks, she is a college English
professor who has noticed that her students coming into college their first year are
still not understanding the basic rules of Literature. She expresses how she did not
do so well in certain subjects her high school years and that English was her only
way out. She goes into more detail about how it stresses her out to grade student s
papers, and to have to re teach those students are even more stressful. Brooks
emphasizes that strongly by saying, For years now, teaching composition at state
universities and liberal arts colleges and community colleges as well, I ve puzzled
over these high school graduates and their shocking deficits. I ve sat at my desk, a
stack of their two to three page papers before me, and felt overwhelmed to the point
of physical paralysis by all the things they don t know how to do when it comes to
written communication in the English language. She is

The Federal Minister of Health Rona Ambrose has taken a positive step toward the
right direction by advising the federal standing committee on health to research into
the possible hazard and gain of e cigarettes ( The Canadian Press,2014) Due to the
health concern and potential hazard to adolescents the cities of York , Red Deer and
Toronto have restricted smoking of cigarettes in open places. This is a well come
development that Ottawa can draw from to take steps on controlling e cigarettes. No
doubt, there is an urgent need for the government to regulate the manufacture,
marketing and usage of e cigarettes because the manufacturers of e cigarettes will not
disclose the content of the cigarettes and canisters. No wonder Olivia Rose (2014)
concluded that other chemicals and the quantities included in e cigarettes apart from
carcinogen like formaldehyde are unknown. From the foregoing, it is pertinent that
the Canadian government regulate e cigerattes, because consumers don t know how
much nicotine or other chemicals exist in them, as well as the potential risk and
hazards associated with them.

The Supreme Court System Of Louisiana
After reading this week s readings I have come to the conclusion that the court
system of the state where I live which is Louisiana is somewhat unified. [1] In
order to understand how to file a law suit in Louisiana it is necessary to know all
the different kind of courts that exist here because a civil law suit can be filed on
multiple different courts depending on the kind of civil law suit, therefore I will start
with a brief explanation of the kind of courts that can be found in the state of
Louisiana. The Supreme Courtis the highest court in Louisiana and its main
responsibility is to review some cases from lower courts in which the decisions
that were made by the judges are questionable, some civil cases can also be
reviewed by the Supreme Court. [2] The Supreme Court is composed of one Chief
Justice and six Associates Justices, all justices and all judges in the state of
Louisiana are elected and they all had to practiced law for a certain amount of
years as well as complete a one year residency at the court they wish to work for
before they become eligible to become judges or justices. [3] There are five circuit
court of appeals in the state of Louisiana, the job of the circuit court of appeals is
similar to the one of the Supreme Court but the work load of the Circuit Court of
Appeals is much higher than the one of the Supreme Court, some civil law suits can
also be appealed at the Circuit Court of Appeals and they are able to accept new
evidence during appeals in

many ways it does this is by using the spotted cow motif. Across the United States,

Each system is personalized for each client, from the consumer to the large business

Gateway sells PCs without the merchandise, which in turn gives the consumer more

The Reason For The Existence Of Evil
The reason for the existence of evil is a topic that as been a debauchle among
philosophers for a long time. In this paper I am going to examine four major
perspectives: the Judaic/Christian family, Augustine s free will theory, soul making
theodicy, and eschatological perspective. All of these theories have valid points and
flaws in their writing. I hope to compare and contrast them, so that I can better
undertand.
First, there is the perspective of Judaism and Christianity. The cause of evil and the
extent of its power rely on conditional covenants. That is how it began in the garden
of Eden. God promised he would take care of them and humanity could continue to
live without pain, yet they chose to break the one rule God gave them. ... Show more

It s the story of David and Bathsheba. Then, there is the question of corrupt people
and organizations. It is hard to imagine what purpose God could be serving by
letting them continue. God can use wicked people and things to accomplish his
purposes. He is always in control. Also, justice is guaranteed in regards to payment
for sins. If we do not see evil punished on Earth, it will be punished in eternity.
Specifically, suffering due to evil can also serve a redemptive purpose. This is
most profoundly seen in the doctrine of the Messiah, whom the Christians
understand to be Jesus. Our evil nature had created a chasm between humanity and
God. God sent his Son to bridge the spiritual gap. In order to do that, he had to
suffer and die at the hands of evil. Then, he rose again. God permitted this to
happen, but the people who crucified Jesus were not following God s orders. They
were motivated by the evil in their hearts. God simply used their evil deeds for
good, the redemption of all people who would come. This perspective has much to
say about the teleological answer for evil. God allows it, but He is still good and
great. The only problem is, not all events happen with for an instrumental purpose
for the benefit of the sufferer. This is cleary portrayed in the book of Job. Next,
there is Augustine s free will theory, which was heavily influenced by Neo
Platonism. According to Augustine, evil is a deprivation or lack of good. The only

My Personal Thoughts On Children s Development
Over the past few weeks through numerous discussions, debates, the use of videos,
documentaries and even experiencing some play ourselves we have looked the
many different issues within early childhood and analysed these through a number
of different perspectives and theories. Throughout this essay I will reflect on how
my thinking has changed and been shaped by these discussions over these few
weeks and how this new knowledge will impact my future regarding children and
the approach I may choose to take when working with them. This essay is
primarily a focus on the key person who work with a small number of children and
will be there to help not only when they first start school but throughout their time
together and who also inform the child s parents of how they handing school life,
any progress they have made since starting and any problems they seem to be
having. I will discuss my own personal thoughts and feelings towards this role in a
children s setting and whether I agree that this is necessary in helping children
adjust to the school environment and encourages the child s development not only
educationally but socially as well. During discussions early on I was unaware of the
role of a key person and their importance during a child s transition from the home
environment to an early years setting. The Early years setting is considered a place
that gives children a chance to become involved in different relationships with people
which differ to those relationships

It was an introductory class on physical chemistry and our chemistry teacher was
teaching us the allotropes of carbon . At the end of the class, he asked us, What do
you think makes a small piece of diamond more precious than tons of charcoal ,
although they are made up of same carbon atoms ?
Is it its appearance? No. It s the pressure that the carbon endured for thousands of
years to become a diamond . A diamond is just a piece of charcoal that handled the
pressure well , he quoted. No pressure, No diamond. Pressure shapes a diamond, in

Affordable Care Act Essay
The Affordable Care Act is an act used to help citizens that need help with medical
bills, and is also called Obamacare. The ACA was an act passed by President
Obama is 2010 and it is used to help people with health care. People around the
United States use ACA for medical bills, and health insurance. Affordable care act
is not only to help people with medical bills it also can be used for people who
really need help with medical bills and need help financially. The fate of the
Affordable Care Act is up in the air because the new president may or may not
repeal it. Some people would be against the act because they are mad that their tax
dollars go to it, and they would rather have their tax dollars go to something more
useful. America s medical cost rises twice as fast than the rest of the economy. In a
book written by Susan Dudley Gold she states that in 2009 60% of the U.S firms
provided some form of health insurancein the economy. In her book she also states
that retired personnel receive 29% of healthbenefits from former employers.
WIthout the ACA health insurance is used to help cover the cost of medical bills

who say the act should be removed. With the new president being put into office
some people wonder whether or not we will have it. In 2010, when the affordable
care act was introduced people thought the act would be good for people. Many of
the people who are against having ACA are republicans. Some people are mad
because it takes money out of there taxes and they have to pay for it when they feel
they should keep that money. Democrats are for the act and helping people and at
the time the act was passed the president was a
Why Do I Admire Martin Luther King I Have A Dream
Firstly, I admire Martin Luther king for his vision that we are equal. Even though
African American were no longer slaves to whites, they were living racism,
segregation, discrimination by government, neighbors, schools, places and public
transport. At that time, Martin Luther king stood up to fight for equality, where
everybody is the same. To do that he was dedicated, worked hard to convey the
same value of equality to everyone. He did not give up for his ancestor s past or for
the limitations in the present, he stood up with faith and hope that one day black and
whites will be together, as he said, We must live together as brothers or perish
together as fools.
Another aspect that I admire from Martin Luther King is that he used peace to fight
for civil rights. His philosophy was peace and not violence is always better http:/

that when he wrote this speech he was inspired in the future, he wrote this speech
with hope, with the faith to convey the dream of freedom and do not give up in
your dreams. As Luther king said in his speech, I have a dream that one day little
black boys and girls will be holding hands with little white boys and girls. Today we
can see children and adults, on the bus, in the parks, in restaurants, in schools, in
universities, and working together. If Martin Luther King could see his dream come

equality between human beings regardless their race and

Message Of The Princess Bride
What s the film s message
I thought the overall message that The Princess Bride portrayed was that true love
always finds a way.I say this because know matter what obstacle occurred, Westly
and Buttercup eventually found each other again. Some evidence that proves this is
when Buttercup told the king that Westly would come for her.Another message that
this movie portrayed was to never judge a book by its cover. This message is very
implied because all the events that take place are very sporadic and what you think
might happen does not occur, it might even be the complete opposite such as what
happens after Wesley s death in the beginning.
Plot
The first main event was when Westly and Buttercup fall in love on the farm and
have a dialogue that carries on for a dramatic ending of As you wish .Buttercup is a
master s daughter and Westly is a poor farm boy. After they confess their love for
one another westley has to go to America in search of riches. He is crossing a
dangerous sea and is expected to die.
Then word gets back to Buttercup that her love was killed by the Dread pirate

Coca Cola was the 1st international soft drinks brand to enter India in early 1970 s.
Indian market was dominated by domestic brands, with Limca being the largest
selling brand. Cola was the largest selling flavor with market share of 40%, Lemon
drinks 31% and orange drinks only 19%.
Up till 1977, Coca cola was the leading soft drink brand in India. But due to norms
set by the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (FERA), Coca Cola left India and did
not return till 1993 after a 16 year absence from the Indian beverage market. FERA
needed Coca Cola to reveal its secret concentrate formula as well as reduce its
equity stake which was not acceptable. Pure drinks, Delhi launched Campa Cola, to
take advantage of Coke s exit and by the end of 70 s, were the only Cola drink in
the Indian market. In 1980, Parle, another major Indian player launched Thums
Up, the drink which till date is most popular soft drink in India. Pure Drinks
strongly objected to Thums Up being called a soft drink as it felt its taste is too
strong. For over a decade, Parle led the Indian soft drinks market, with its market
share reaching a peak of 70% in1990.

Ethan Frome Quotes
Cheating is when one is not loyal or faithful to the person one is currently in a
relationship with. Generally, when a person cheats on someone, he will tend to treat
the person that he is cheating with better than the person that he is cheating on. In
Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton, Ethan falls in love with Mattie, and Zeena notices it.
Zeena expresses the way that she feels about Ethan being with Mattie and that she
knows what is going on between them through her dialogue, actions, and what she
observes. It is easy to see that Zeena knows that Ethan is trying to replace Zeena with
Mattie. Zeena started to figure out how Ethan was starting to replace her when he
began spending more time on Mattie than on her. One of the first times in which
Zeena finds out that Ethan was using up his time for Mattie was when he did his best
to supplement her unskilled efforts, getting up earlier than usual to light the kitchen

was a smart cat [...] but I didn t know he was smart enough to pick up the pieces of
my pickle dish and lay em edge to edge on the shelf he knocked em of off (Wharton
69). This means that Zeena now knows that Ethan was trying to keep Mattie out of
trouble which would have allowed Mattie to stay longer. Another example of
Zeena knowing that Ethan wants to be with Mattie longer was when Ethan said,
You needn t come round; I m going to drive her over myself [...] I m going to
driver her over myself (Wharton 81). This demonstrates how Ethan is trying all he
can to keep Mattie by his side for as long as possible. By insisting on driving Mattie,
Ethan is making his motives conspicuous to

The act of speaking and communicating are two very distinct actions. It is a common
misconception that the only way to communicate with someone is by verbally
speaking to them; but how would people communicate if one lost the ability to
speak? The episode Hush in Buffy the Vampire Slayer an Emmy nominated series
displays the relationship between talking and communicating, when evil creatures
called The Gentlemen steal the voices of the citizens of Sunnydale. Buffy and her
friends finds ways to communicate better than when they had their voices. In the
episode Hush , when Buffy and her friends lose their voices and the ability to talk
to each other, they are able to resolve their issues and, ironically, communicate best
when they cannot speak. Buffy and her love interest Riley are able to better
communicate with each other after they lose their voices. Throughout the episode, it
is evident that Buffy and Riley like each other but are struggling to find a way to
express and act on their emotions. This in part is due to the fact that both of these
characters have a secret, double identity that they are keeping hidden from each
other. Buffy is a vampire slayer and Riley is a covert operative for the United States
military. They both help keep the town of Sunnydale safe from any harmful threats.
Furthermore, attempting to be honest about their feelings, while also keeping such a
tremendous part of their lives concealed from each other, has both of them struggling

Code Talkers Essay
In this precursor research paper, I will conduct a study of the code talkers from
WWII. The purpose of this study is to remind other colleagues the significance of
the Navajos throughout World War II. I will use the following articles for my
research, World War II Time Line (Nationalgeographic.com), Semper Fidelis, Code
talkers (Adam Jevec), Memorandum Regarding The Enlistment of Navajo

and lastly the Unbreakable: Remembering the Code Talkers (Hilary Parkinson).
The main idea of my paper would be an insight look on who the code talkers were.
Whose idea was it to form this group? What role did the Navajos play in World War
II, and why the Navajos? The first article that stood out to me was Semper Fidelis,

Japanese after they had bomb Pearl Harbor. The second article, Memorandum

Although Johnston was not a Navajo, he grew up on a Navajo reservation as the son

Phillip Johnston was the mastermind of code talkers, even though he didn t speak the
Catcher In The Rye Character Analysis
The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger is about a boy named Holden Caulfield
who got kicked out of Pencey Prep, a private school for boys. Throughout the story
Holden shows his dislike for society because he believes that it corrupts the innocent.
Some people might say that Holden doesnВґt understand that as an adult, most
innocent people stay innocent and he is just judgemental of all the people around
him. Salinger suggests that in order to transition to the adult world properly, an
individual must understand that we change and most become corrupt. Holden
achieves this understanding to the extent that he tries to save the innocent people and
rejects the corrupt, although in the end he learns to let them free even if they become
corrupt.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his mind, his brother was totally innocent and could do no wrong. Typically
when someone dies, their relatives try to remember only the good parts of their
relationship and life. Holden doesn t seem to understand that Allie and Jane don t
stay innocent as they approach adulthood. Not everyone is perfect, but he regards
them as so wanting them to stay that way. In another way, Holden is calling
everyone that is insincere that are more interested in playing a part than being
themselves a phony. It starts with Ossenburger, a man who donated money to the
school and had a wing named after him. He showed up to a football game in his
Cadillac and Holden could just see the big phony bastard shifting into first gear
and asking Jesus to send him a few more stiffs. (20) As he is talking about this man
he keeps judging him for flaunting his money in other s faces. He drives a
Cadillac and gives big speeches but says that he s just a normal guy like the rest of
them. Typically, when a person has more money than other they flaunt it as much as
they can. As he is talking about the school and about how they have been molding

Theme Of Power In Dracula
First of all, before analysing the theme, it is necessary to clarify the notion of
dynamic of power . In fact, this denotes the dialectic interaction between the subject
possessing the power and the object which is influenced by this power. In literature,
this liaison is expressed by the relations between a master and a slave. For instance,
the Russian writers Dostoevsky and Tolstoy explored the theme of the relations
between a master and a slave, an oppressor and an oppressed in their works. Since
this theme has stirred the imagination of many writers, it is not surprising that the
possibility to expose this type of relations has attracted the filmmakers for the
decades.
It is important to point out that such creative movement as German Expressionism ...

Dracula in this film refers more to the Sympathetic Cycle (1987 present) by the
classification of Tim Kane. The films of this cycle show the vampire with more
sympathetic qualities, with thoughts, feelings, fears, and dreams. The sympathetic
vampires of the recent films have developed into misunderstood, tortured romantic
figures or even ultimate romantic alpha hero. Coppola s Dracula seems to be on
the border of the Erotic and Sympathetic cycles. Seduction and allure are still
inherent to him, as well as his victims are ready to sacrifice, expecting gratification
from the master. The scenes of bite do not have sexual hints, they speak directly of
sex. For example, this is the scene when Jonathan is attacked by the Dracula s
brides, who lick and kiss him before biting, and the victim endures pain, fear and
sensual pleasure. When Dracula, transformed into a wolf, attacks Lucy, he physically
copulates with her. And again, we see that these relations develop with the consent of
the victim as the attack arouses Lucy, and she anticipates the vampire s visits. So,
overall, each participant of the vampire victim s relationship is not equal. One is
superior (stronger, with a hypnotic stare and other super abilities, moreover, he is
immortal) and another is subordinate (just a human being, fragile and helpless).
Nevertheless, this inequality, the power, that a vampire, a master possesses and
victim s eagerness to obey make these relations tempting for
Nickel And Dimed Analysis
Minimum wage requires maximum effort for the bare necessities. The middle and
lower classes of America are constantly being taken advantage of. They remain
overworked, underpaid, and continue to endure some of the most mentally and
physically draining tasks on a daily basis just to get by and provide for themselves
and their families. Nickel and Dimed, written by Barbara Ehrenreichis about the plight
of the working lower middle class American, and the author s own attempt to

Whether it be at the Hearthside or Walmart, it is important not to know too much
or do what is not necessary (pg. 195, Ehrenreich). There is a negative connotation
on over exertion at these establishments, as is understood, given the amount they

its characteristics. Those living in poverty have more health and educational issues,

Hypokalemia Research Paper
Electrolyte Disorder Hypokalemia The human body contains blood and fluid
compounds and elements like chloride, phosphate, potassium, calcium, sodium, and
magnesium known as electrolytes that occur naturally to control important
physiologic functions. When the body levels of electrolytes are low (hypo) or high
(hyper) it results in electrolyte disorder. Depending on the affected electrolyte(s),
when body electrolytes are hyper (high) or hypo(low) it leads to electrolyte disorder,
which in turn disrupts bloodionized salts balance ( Buttaro, et al., 2017). For instance,
disruption of chloride leads to either hyperchloremia or hypochloremia, calcium

Wash and Sterilization Process
Washing and sterilizing surgical instrument and materials are extremely important in
the practice of asepsis. Sterilizing all surgical instrument and materials prevents
surgical sight infections. Over many years, there were many different ways the
sterilization process was preformed. Many microbiologists and physicians took part
in the discovery of and importance of the sterilization process. Today there are many
steps to sterilizing surgical equipment.
Before people knew what caused infection and many people died from surgical
procedures. In ancient times, demons and evil spirits were thought to be the cause of
pestilence and infection. Methods involving witchcraft and magic were used to drive
them away. (Skellie, 2010) In 1450 BC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today there are many precautions that are taken to insure that the equipment used in
hospitals and other heath care facilities are washed properly before being sterilized.
Shortly after the surgical procedure, the soiled and contaminated equipment is sorted
and is taken to the decontamination room. The decontamination team then should be
properly downed in attire used to handle blood and other contaminants. The
instruments and other equipment are rinsed off and soaked in cool sterile water with
an enzymatic detergent. Using saline is not advised as this permanently damages the
instruments. Each instrument should be individually scrubbed to help eliminate
debris. This starts off the washing process. Many facilities invest in washers like the
water decontaminator to minimize manual cleaning. Another means of washing
instruments is called the ultrasonic washer. This washer used sound waves by,
converting high frequency sound waves into mechanical vibrations (University of

Property Law Questions
There are two distinct types of property: real property and personal property. Real
property is land and buildings on land. Examples of real property include houses and
apartments. Personal property are valuable items that are not attached to a piece of
land. Personal property includes items such as furniture, jewelry, computers, and
clothing. (Sprankling, 2012)
Eminent domain is the legally permitted takeing of private property for public
purposes (Kerekes, 2011). While I was living in Arizona, an eminent domain issues
was actually voted on in the city of Mesa. The city of Mesa wanted to improve the
overall value of the downtown area by demolishing some old neighborhoods and
building a sports and aquatic center instead. The people voted for the demolishing,
so all of the home owners were paid fair market value for their homes and required to
move.
Adverse possession is a method of gaining legal title to real property by the actual,
open, hostile, and continuous possession of it to the exclusion of its true owner for
the period prescribed by state law. (West s Encyclopedia of American Law, edition
2). The elements of adverse possession are: Actual possession, hostile to the owners,
continuous possession, and for the prescribed statutory time. With regard to the
current foreclosure crises, it has forced the banks to ensure timely foreclosure actions
taken on all properties to prevent any encroaches (Urban, 2013).

Taking other juror s characters into consideration, Jury number 2 and Jury number 12
are a complete contrast to Jury number 8. They both are hesitant in taking their
stance. Especially Jury number 12 repeatedly changes his decision depending on what
the aggressive members were wanting him to say. Jury number 3 was the most
aggressive of all the 12 men. There was something not so appealing yet very
interesting about his personality. He was so single minded that he not only
disagreed to what others said, but was also willing to ask them to shut up and just
say guilty. His aggressive behavior gives us a reason to think that he might have a
bad relation with his son, which he actually had and reveals the story at the end.
Jury number 7 has a completely different approach. He wants the discussions to
end soon because he has got more important things to do in his life rather than
having a look at the evidence s that could help to save someone s life. According to
Benne and Sheats Functional Group Goals, Jury number 7 is an example of a
deserter. Deserter is a person who withdraws from the group; appears above it all
and bored or annoyed with the discussion; remains aloof or stops contributing (
Engleberg and Wynn 55). A deserter can also be called a self centered person. Jury
number 8 seems an initiator contributor, who proposes ideas and suggestions;
provides direction for the group; gets the group

How The English Changed North America Essay
For civilization to evolve, changes must be made. Imagine what the world would
be like if the Natives were just alone and no country migrated to North America.
Would technology even exist? Would the main weapons be just spears and arrows?
Would medicine be invented so people could live long lives without dying of
diseases? These are questions that will never have to be answered because the world
evolved into a much bigger and better place. The English changed North Americano
matter what the cost was. Some may argue that the English are the ones to blame
for King Phillip s War, but that is not the case here. The Indians did not want
change and overall, it did not work out real well for them. In this case, the war was
brutal on both sides. The Natives did not change their customs as much as the
English wanted them to. By not assimilating to European values and customs, the
Natives caused the war over hatred of English values and traditions and made the
world a dangerous place to live in. Daniel Richter was the author of Facing East
from Indian Country and Jill Lepore wrote The Name of War. Lepore made some
very interesting points that will be discussed that can make the Natives look like
savages, but the English were not angels either. King Phillip s War is one of the most
brutal wars in America and there really was not anything good about it. Mistakes
were made and history was changed. Richter took a standpoint that focused on the

The target of a seaboard attack is to capture a marine vessel, steal the cargo aboard
and take for an end result of a profit. A recent joint study by the International
Criminal Police Organization, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the
World Bank says that from 2005 until the end of 2012, 179 ships were successfully
hijacked off the Horn of Africa, primarily off the coast of Somalia. (Poulton, 2013)
With the number of attacks rising, companies that are offering security positions to
protect their goods and services travelling overseas are increasing in a parallel
motion. The objective of this document is to provide further details regarding the
factors of anticipating pirate attacks including location and economic risks of
shipping overseas in highly active geographic regions, strategies to prevent the
damages and losses, alternative ideas other than researched facts and our
recommendations involving all topics above.
ANTICIPATION
In order to anticipate the risk of piracy attacks, companies must take a multi faceted
research based approach. The keys to effectively anticipating a piracy attack include
variables such as: 1. The type of goods being transported and 2. The location risk of
the shipments. A major key factor that companies must evaluate is the location risk,
as certain locations account for nearly all of the piracy attacks that occur globally.
For example, Somalian piracy is unique in
The Arab Israeli Conflict And Arab Palestinian Conflict
The Arab Israeli conflict is the political and military conflict between the nation of
Israel and specific Arab countries. The Arab Israeli conflict began in the late 19th
century as a result of the rise of Zionism and Arab nationalism. The two sides have
fought over land that both parties regard as their holy land. The Jews looked to
reclaim the land promised to them by God after their escape from slavery in Egypt.
The Arabs, who already resided on and owned the land, looked to maintain their
ownership, which was a site of many historical events in the development of Islam.
This struggle between the two religions led to a battle for attaining sovereignty in the
Middle East. The tension between the two peoples eventually escalated into the
Israeli Palestinian conflict in 1947, which in turn evolved and developed into the
broader Arab Israeli conflict.
To fully understand the viewpoints of both sides of this conflict and the history that
comes with it, it is necessary to know the movements that are at the root of all the
tensions. These movements are the Zionist movement, the Arab Nationalist
movement and the Palestinian Nationalism movement. Zionism is the national
movement of Jews that supports the creation of a Jewish homeland in the Land of
Israel. The movement came to the forefront of global issue in the late 19th century.
Zionism looks to support the upholding of the Jewish identity. The movement
opposes the assimilation of Jews into other societies and pushes for Jews
Activist Judges Dbq
In this chapter, the question of if judicial independence is being undermined is
asked. Attacks upon activist judges is a recurring theme in the United States.
Various judges are attacked across the state for the decisions they make. In an
adversary system, a judge s decision often fails to find favor with the losing party.
These losing parties normally label the judge as and activist . This means that the
judge had made an unpopular opinion. There has been many examples of judges
being subject to the attacks such as when Justice Penny White was voted off the
bench because she voted in a death penalty case to grant the defendant more leeway.
These attacks on judges can have a harsh impact on the judicial independence. The

REVIEW OF LITERATURE
According to McCracken (1989), a celebrity could be defined as,
any individual who enjoys public recognition and who uses this recognition when
they appear in the advertisement in front of the consumers.
There are multiple roles that a celebrity spokesperson may play (and the roles may
not be mutually exclusive)
(Kamen, Azhari and Kragh, 1975) in an advertisement such as that of a
spokesperson, endorser, provider of a testimonial, or an actor. A spokesperson
represents the company or brand like a salesman, while an endorser is associated
with the brand even though he may not be an expert in the product category of the
brand. In case of testimonials, the superiority of the product is attested by an
individual or the personal experience of the celebrity. Lastly, the celebrity actor is
only a character in a dramatic presentation in the ad.
McCracken (1989) suggested four different modes of celebrity endorsers namely,
Explicit mode, Implicit mode,
Imperative mode, and the Co present mode. In the explicit mode, the celebrity
announces the endorsement of a product, while in the implicit mode, the celebrity
uses verbal or physical communication for the product. In the imperative mode, the
celebrity suggests the audience to use the endorsed product while the celebrity only
appears with the product in the co present mode.

Experience shared with other people provided important knowledge that helps
people find their place in the world. The novel, Microserfs by Douglas Coupland
displays these traits by having reader follow the diary of Daniel Underwood as he
starts to wonder if life has more meaning than just working. Firstly, lovehelps a
person understand to improve oneself, that they always have a person to talk too and
that love can make people cherish each other. Secondly, Loss can impact people by
having them deny about the loss, accept the loss and remember the loss. Finally,
friendships help people understand that there is more to life than work, friends are
always there to help that friends can provide a comfortable environment. The
experience people go through with each others helps people to figure out where
they belong. To begin, the experience of love teaches people to always improve
oneself, people with significant others always have a person they can talk too and
that love can make people cherish others. Starting off, Relationships teaches people to
always improve oneself. This is shown in the novelwhen Daniel, in response to more
men starting to notice Daniel s girlfriend: Karla as a women he starts to go to the

themselves because Daniel is scared that Karla might get embarrassed to be with
him due to his appearance, so he decides to improve himself to make him more

Cal State Northridge Reflection
After 3 weeks of being part of the ESW, I experienced a preview of how Cal State
Northridge would be like when school officially starts. We were all challenges in 4
assignments to test our writing skills. At first, I thought it would be a difficult time
since I am taking classes at CSUN. However, this taught me to think ahead and
prepared me for when schoolofficially starts. Working on an assignment that requires
you to have 500 words is not as hard as it would be. It certainly was not my first time

Arkansas, June 1, 1999. Aircraft Accident Report NTSB/AAR 01/02. Washington,
DC.
Abstract: This report is an overview of the accident that occurred on American
Airlines flight 1420 that occurred on a McDonnell Douglas MD 82 aircraft in Little
Rock, Arkansas on June 1, 1999. The plane overran the runway during adverse
weather that took place at the airport. The plane veered off the runway into some
tubes, through a chain linked fence and off into an embankment. This report will
address weather information that took place that evening; the pilot and co pilot
decision making, and the structure of the airplane. It also addresses the controller
actions during this period. It looks at the causes and findings in this report. It will
also discuss recommendations for safety from the FAA, National Transportation
Safety Board and the National Weather Service.
Introduction American Airlines flight 1420 was bound for Arkansas on June 1,
1999. It was the last flight of a three leg route. The plane touched down the runway
and struck several tubes, passed through a chain link security fence and went over
an embankment. There were several key factors that played a role in the accident
that left the captain and 10 passengers dead and injured over 105 other passengers.

Music Education Budget Cut
Many factors take part in the elimination of music education courses in public
schools, but the main one is budget cuts. In the New York Times article School Arts

lively arts programs, (Hernandez 2). Without the means to pay for musicprograms,

Events such as the stock market crash and the recession are the reasons for state

Rappaccini s Daughter Analysis
Rappaccini s Daughter, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is a short story about how
beauty is within and not just physical. When Hawthorne was four years old his
father was in an accident and died on the scene, leaving his mother to raise him and
his siblings alone. Thus, leading him to have respect for all women, and it is
reflected in the story. For instance, the main character Beatrice is this aesthetic, sweet,
and a naГЇve woman and Giovanni is just focused more on her beauty rather than
anything else. Moreover, when Giovanni first sees Beatrice in the garden, he
describes her as the most beautiful woman he s ever seen and is just blinded by her
beauty. What he doesn t know is that her father, Doctor Rappaccini, is a scientist
who cares more about science more than anything else. The place where Beatrice
and Giovanni spend all their time together is in the garden, which represents
loneliness , and unfortunately one of the main characters will learn that the hard
way. When Giovanni meets Professor Baglioni, a professor of medicine who is
Rappaccini s rival he helps him get Beatrice, or at least that s what Giovanni
thinks. However, what Giovanni does not know is that the love of his life isn t
who he thinks she is. Beatrice Rappaccini is the daughter of a scientist who is
experimenting with plants, and they have a beautiful garden in the backyard. She
is the most beautiful woman that Giovanni has ever seen and people around the
village agree that she is beautiful, but nobody knows the real her, they just notice
her appearance. She is full of life, full of energy, and her heart is so big and there
isn t a drop of evilness in her body. For an instance, the reptile contorted itself
violently, and then lay motionless in the sunshine. Beatrice observed this remarkable
phenomenon, and crossed herself (Hawthorne 411). When people cross themselves
it s because they re at a funeral, something horrible just happened to one, or someone
important to them. Beatrice and Giovanni spend all their time together in the garden
and it symbolizes a place of isolation and beauty because the flowers are poisonous
but beautiful. For example, a shrub catches his eye from the color, which is purple,
and its fragrance draws him

Achilles Vs Perpetua Quotes
Achilles or Perpetua: Who is the more heroic? Greek tГ®mГЄ means, in a literal
meaning, worth or value. It was a socially constructed value that measured a person
s value to their society. Namely that an individual s sense of honor was only valid if
others within their community perceived them to be honorable. Honor could be
achieved such as military, social, or political or ascribed, in the sense that a person
was honorable because of their reputation. In the same ways, a person could just as
easily be dishonorable or shamed. Furthermore, the most crucial tenets of honor in
antiquity would be whether a person has died with or without honor. Based on this
concept, Achillesis irrefutably more heroic than Perpetua. Under the persecutions
during the Severan Dynasty Perpetua, a twenty two year old new mother, was killed
for her Christian beliefs. Although in today s definition of heroism (perhaps
selflessness) we might answer this question differently, however if we are to examine
these characters and their actions within... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Values Of Compassio Forgiveness
We all have the ability to be compassionate towards others and forgive. Humans are
born as narcissistic beings; from the moment of birth we are selfish to our own
needs. Perhaps, it has survival value. We cry when we are hungry. We do not know
or care that our parents might be busy, in a literal sense, we are capable only of
thinking of and responding to our own needs. We are, as infants, not even capable of
realizing that other peoplehave needs, desires, or a life outside of us. As we grow up
over time, ideally, we learn compassion it becomes natural to most of us, but only
to a certain point. As such, most people never genuinely become good at it.
Compassion is the ability to put ourselves in someone else s shoes, imagine things
from their perspective, and then to feel kindness for them and seek understanding of
them even if what they do is harmful to us. This usually goes against our needs and
desires, and is at odds with our own experiences.... Show more content on

It does not mean the person occupies the same place in your life; nor does it imply
that you carry on as if the transgression never happened. You can forgive someone
and resolve never to see them again. You don t distance yourself out of anger or
spite but out of respect for yourself; out of a healthy need to set new boundaries.
Forgiving someone is not a gift to the person who hurt you but rather a gift to
yourself. The goal of forgiveness is freedom from resentment, bitterness, anger or
hatred (Macaskill, Maltby and Day, 2002). Harbouring these feelings cannot hurt
another person but can cause you great harm. Chapter 7 accurately describes
compassion and forgiveness. It details that the key to compassion and forgiveness lies
within caring for others, forgiving the mistakes of others and mostly importantly
forgiving yourself for your own mistakes. Ultimately, one cannot live harmoniously
without out compassion and forgiveness in their

  • 1. Yoga Essays Writing an essay on the topic of "Yoga Essays" can present a unique set of challenges. Firstly, the breadth of the subject matter is vast, encompassing historical origins, philosophical underpinnings, various schools and styles, as well as practical applications and contemporary debates. Narrowing down such a broad topic into a coherent and focused essay requires careful research and analysis. Additionally, the topic of yoga often intersects with spirituality, cultural contexts, physical health, mental well-being, and even political and economic dimensions in some cases. Balancing these multiple dimensions while maintaining a clear thesis and argument can be challenging. Moreover, the popularity of yoga has led to a plethora of literature and perspectives, ranging from traditional texts like the Yoga Sutras to modern scientific studies on its effects. Navigating through this abundance of information to select relevant sources and incorporate them effectively into the essay requires critical thinking and synthesis skills. Furthermore, given the personal nature of yoga practice for many individuals, there may be diverse and deeply held beliefs and experiences associated with it. Addressing these sensitively while presenting an objective analysis can be tricky. In conclusion, crafting an essay on "Yoga Essays" demands not only a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter but also the ability to navigate its complexities and nuances while maintaining clarity and coherence in argumentation. [At the end, without mentioning the topic, write that similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net.] Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net. • 2. Landmark Decisions Of The Supreme Court AMERICAN GOVERNMENT HONORS RESEARCH PROJECT Landmark Decisions of the Supreme Court Your Quarter II project will involve research on a landmark Supreme Court decision. Your paper should include internal citations and a formal bibliography. At least one of your sources needs to be non Internet. Note: If you fail to do parenthetical citations in your paper, you will receive an automatic F on your paper. The paper should be double spaced, 10 or 12 point, and follow the format found in the Media Handbook. It should be between 2000 2500 words in length (approximately 6 8 pages). In addition, you will be required to submit your paper electronically via turnitin.com . When the Supreme Court is deciding whether to hear a case or not, there are many things that it takes into account. First off, if the Case will resolve a conflict of law, then the case will be heard. A conflict of law is basically when the state supreme courts and federal circuits reach different conclusions about an issue of federal or constitutional law, and when that happens the supreme court can resolve the conflict of law by deciding the law. Second, The Supreme Court will consider hearing a case that they deem important or that they say has high significance. Some of these important cases consist of U.S. v Nixon, which was about the Watergate tapes, Bush v. Gore, which was about the insanely close election in 2000 and also Roe. v. Wade, which concerned
  • 3. Analysis Of The Article Death Of High School By Kim... Introduction The two articles that I chose both went hand in hand with the struggle of learning and teaching literature. I chose the article One High School English Teacher because it complements my first article, Death to High School English . In this essay, I will summarize and interpret the first article to show the deeper meaning of it. Then I will research my second article and show the author s credibility to help prove my argument, and finally I will tie together all my main points of my essay. Summary In the article Death to High School , written by Kim Brooks, she is a college English professor who has noticed that her students coming into college their first year are still not understanding the basic rules of Literature. She expresses how she did not do so well in certain subjects her high school years and that English was her only way out. She goes into more detail about how it stresses her out to grade student s papers, and to have to re teach those students are even more stressful. Brooks emphasizes that strongly by saying, For years now, teaching composition at state universities and liberal arts colleges and community colleges as well, I ve puzzled over these high school graduates and their shocking deficits. I ve sat at my desk, a stack of their two to three page papers before me, and felt overwhelmed to the point of physical paralysis by all the things they don t know how to do when it comes to written communication in the English language. She is

The Federal Minister of Health Rona Ambrose has taken a positive step toward the right direction by advising the federal standing committee on health to research into the possible hazard and gain of e cigarettes ( The Canadian Press,2014) Due to the health concern and potential hazard to adolescents the cities of York , Red Deer and Toronto have restricted smoking of cigarettes in open places. This is a well come development that Ottawa can draw from to take steps on controlling e cigarettes. No doubt, there is an urgent need for the government to regulate the manufacture, marketing and usage of e cigarettes because the manufacturers of e cigarettes will not disclose the content of the cigarettes and canisters. No wonder Olivia Rose (2014) concluded that other chemicals and the quantities included in e cigarettes apart from carcinogen like formaldehyde are unknown. From the foregoing, it is pertinent that the Canadian government regulate e cigerattes, because consumers don t know how much nicotine or other chemicals exist in them, as well as the potential risk and hazards associated with them. • 5. The Supreme Court System Of Louisiana After reading this week s readings I have come to the conclusion that the court system of the state where I live which is Louisiana is somewhat unified. [1] In order to understand how to file a law suit in Louisiana it is necessary to know all the different kind of courts that exist here because a civil law suit can be filed on multiple different courts depending on the kind of civil law suit, therefore I will start with a brief explanation of the kind of courts that can be found in the state of Louisiana. The Supreme Courtis the highest court in Louisiana and its main responsibility is to review some cases from lower courts in which the decisions that were made by the judges are questionable, some civil cases can also be reviewed by the Supreme Court. [2] The Supreme Court is composed of one Chief Justice and six Associates Justices, all justices and all judges in the state of Louisiana are elected and they all had to practiced law for a certain amount of years as well as complete a one year residency at the court they wish to work for before they become eligible to become judges or justices. [3] There are five circuit court of appeals in the state of Louisiana, the job of the circuit court of appeals is similar to the one of the Supreme Court but the work load of the Circuit Court of Appeals is much higher than the one of the Supreme Court, some civil law suits can also be appealed at the Circuit Court of Appeals and they are able to accept new evidence during appeals in

  • 7. The Reason For The Existence Of Evil The reason for the existence of evil is a topic that as been a debauchle among philosophers for a long time. In this paper I am going to examine four major perspectives: the Judaic/Christian family, Augustine s free will theory, soul making theodicy, and eschatological perspective. All of these theories have valid points and flaws in their writing. I hope to compare and contrast them, so that I can better undertand. First, there is the perspective of Judaism and Christianity. The cause of evil and the extent of its power rely on conditional covenants. That is how it began in the garden of Eden. God promised he would take care of them and humanity could continue to live without pain, yet they chose to break the one rule God gave them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s the story of David and Bathsheba. Then, there is the question of corrupt people and organizations. It is hard to imagine what purpose God could be serving by letting them continue. God can use wicked people and things to accomplish his purposes. He is always in control. Also, justice is guaranteed in regards to payment for sins. If we do not see evil punished on Earth, it will be punished in eternity. Specifically, suffering due to evil can also serve a redemptive purpose. This is most profoundly seen in the doctrine of the Messiah, whom the Christians understand to be Jesus. Our evil nature had created a chasm between humanity and God. God sent his Son to bridge the spiritual gap. In order to do that, he had to suffer and die at the hands of evil. Then, he rose again. God permitted this to happen, but the people who crucified Jesus were not following God s orders. They were motivated by the evil in their hearts. God simply used their evil deeds for good, the redemption of all people who would come. This perspective has much to say about the teleological answer for evil. God allows it, but He is still good and great. The only problem is, not all events happen with for an instrumental purpose for the benefit of the sufferer. This is cleary portrayed in the book of Job. Next, there is Augustine s free will theory, which was heavily influenced by Neo Platonism. According to Augustine, evil is a deprivation or lack of good. The only pro I can
  • 8. My Personal Thoughts On Children s Development Over the past few weeks through numerous discussions, debates, the use of videos, documentaries and even experiencing some play ourselves we have looked the many different issues within early childhood and analysed these through a number of different perspectives and theories. Throughout this essay I will reflect on how my thinking has changed and been shaped by these discussions over these few weeks and how this new knowledge will impact my future regarding children and the approach I may choose to take when working with them. This essay is primarily a focus on the key person who work with a small number of children and will be there to help not only when they first start school but throughout their time together and who also inform the child s parents of how they handing school life, any progress they have made since starting and any problems they seem to be having. I will discuss my own personal thoughts and feelings towards this role in a children s setting and whether I agree that this is necessary in helping children adjust to the school environment and encourages the child s development not only educationally but socially as well. During discussions early on I was unaware of the role of a key person and their importance during a child s transition from the home environment to an early years setting. The Early years setting is considered a place that gives children a chance to become involved in different relationships with people which differ to those relationships

At the end of the class, he asked us, What do you think makes a small piece of diamond more precious than tons of charcoal , although they are made up of same carbon atoms ? Is it its appearance? No. It s the pressure that the carbon endured for thousands of years to become a diamond . A diamond is just a piece of charcoal that handled the pressure well , he quoted. No pressure, No diamond. • 11. Affordable Care Act Essay The Affordable Care Act is an act used to help citizens that need help with medical bills, and is also called Obamacare. The ACA was an act passed by President Obama is 2010 and it is used to help people with health care. People around the United States use ACA for medical bills, and health insurance. Affordable care act is not only to help people with medical bills it also can be used for people who really need help with medical bills and need help financially. The fate of the Affordable Care Act is up in the air because the new president may or may not repeal it. Some people would be against the act because they are mad that their tax dollars go to it, and they would rather have their tax dollars go to something more useful. America s medical cost rises twice as fast than the rest of the economy. In a book written by Susan Dudley Gold she states that in 2009 60% of the U.S firms provided some form of health insurancein the economy. In her book she also states that retired personnel receive 29% of healthbenefits from former employers. Even though African American were no longer slaves to whites, they were living racism, segregation, discrimination by government, neighbors, schools, places and public transport. At that time, Martin Luther king stood up to fight for equality, where everybody is the same. To do that he was dedicated, worked hard to convey the same value of equality to everyone. He did not give up for his ancestor s past or for the limitations in the present, he stood up with faith and hope that one day black and whites will be together, as he said, We must live together as brothers or perish together as fools. Message Of The Princess Bride What s the film s message I thought the overall message that The Princess Bride portrayed was that true love always finds a way.I say this because know matter what obstacle occurred, Westly and Buttercup eventually found each other again. Some evidence that proves this is when Buttercup told the king that Westly would come for her.Another message that this movie portrayed was to never judge a book by its cover. This message is very implied because all the events that take place are very sporadic and what you think might happen does not occur, it might even be the complete opposite such as what happens after Wesley s death in the beginning. In Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton, Ethan falls in love with Mattie, and Zeena notices it. Zeena expresses the way that she feels about Ethan being with Mattie and that she knows what is going on between them through her dialogue, actions, and what she observes. It is easy to see that Zeena knows that Ethan is trying to replace Zeena with Mattie. Zeena started to figure out how Ethan was starting to replace her when he began spending more time on Mattie than on her. It is a common misconception that the only way to communicate with someone is by verbally speaking to them; but how would people communicate if one lost the ability to speak? The episode Hush in Buffy the Vampire Slayer an Emmy nominated series displays the relationship between talking and communicating, when evil creatures called The Gentlemen steal the voices of the citizens of Sunnydale. Buffy and her friends finds ways to communicate better than when they had their voices. In the episode Hush , when Buffy and her friends lose their voices and the ability to talk to each other, they are able to resolve their issues and, ironically, communicate best when they cannot speak. Buffy and her love interest Riley are able to better communicate with each other after they lose their voices. Throughout the episode, it is evident that Buffy and Riley like each other but are struggling to find a way to express and act on their emotions. • 22. Theme Of Power In Dracula First of all, before analysing the theme, it is necessary to clarify the notion of dynamic of power . In fact, this denotes the dialectic interaction between the subject possessing the power and the object which is influenced by this power. In literature, this liaison is expressed by the relations between a master and a slave. For instance, the Russian writers Dostoevsky and Tolstoy explored the theme of the relations between a master and a slave, an oppressor and an oppressed in their works. Since this theme has stirred the imagination of many writers, it is not surprising that the possibility to expose this type of relations has attracted the filmmakers for the decades. Dracula in this film refers more to the Sympathetic Cycle (1987 present) by the classification of Tim Kane. The films of this cycle show the vampire with more sympathetic qualities, with thoughts, feelings, fears, and dreams. The sympathetic vampires of the recent films have developed into misunderstood, tortured romantic figures or even ultimate romantic alpha hero. Coppola s Dracula seems to be on the border of the Erotic and Sympathetic cycles. Seduction and allure are still inherent to him, as well as his victims are ready to sacrifice, expecting gratification from the master. The scenes of bite do not have sexual hints, they speak directly of sex. For example, this is the scene when Jonathan is attacked by the Dracula s brides, who lick and kiss him before biting, and the victim endures pain, fear and sensual pleasure. When Dracula, transformed into a wolf, attacks Lucy, he physically copulates with her. And again, we see that these relations develop with the consent of the victim as the attack arouses Lucy, and she anticipates the vampire s visits. So, overall, each participant of the vampire victim s relationship is not equal. One is superior (stronger, with a hypnotic stare and other super abilities, moreover, he is immortal) and another is subordinate (just a human being, fragile and helpless). Nevertheless, this inequality, the power, that a vampire, a master possesses and victim s eagerness to obey make these relations tempting for

  • 31. The Arab Israeli Conflict And Arab Palestinian Conflict The Arab Israeli conflict is the political and military conflict between the nation of Israel and specific Arab countries. The Arab Israeli conflict began in the late 19th century as a result of the rise of Zionism and Arab nationalism. The two sides have fought over land that both parties regard as their holy land. The Jews looked to reclaim the land promised to them by God after their escape from slavery in Egypt. The Arabs, who already resided on and owned the land, looked to maintain their ownership, which was a site of many historical events in the development of Islam. This struggle between the two religions led to a battle for attaining sovereignty in the Middle East. The tension between the two peoples eventually escalated into the Israeli Palestinian conflict in 1947, which in turn evolved and developed into the broader Arab Israeli conflict. To fully understand the viewpoints of both sides of this conflict and the history that comes with it, it is necessary to know the movements that are at the root of all the tensions. These movements are the Zionist movement, the Arab Nationalist movement and the Palestinian Nationalism movement. Zionism is the national movement of Jews that supports the creation of a Jewish homeland in the Land of Israel. The movement came to the forefront of global issue in the late 19th century. There are multiple roles that a celebrity spokesperson may play (and the roles may not be mutually exclusive) (Kamen, Azhari and Kragh, 1975) in an advertisement such as that of a spokesperson, endorser, provider of a testimonial, or an actor. A spokesperson represents the company or brand like a salesman, while an endorser is associated with the brand even though he may not be an expert in the product category of the brand. In case of testimonials, the superiority of the product is attested by an individual or the personal experience of the celebrity. Lastly, the celebrity actor is only a character in a dramatic presentation in the ad. McCracken (1989) suggested four different modes of celebrity endorsers namely, Explicit mode, Implicit mode, Imperative mode, and the Co present mode. In the explicit mode, the celebrity announces the endorsement of a product, while in the implicit mode, the celebrity uses verbal or physical communication for the product. • 40. Rappaccini s Daughter Analysis Rappaccini s Daughter, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is a short story about how beauty is within and not just physical. When Hawthorne was four years old his father was in an accident and died on the scene, leaving his mother to raise him and his siblings alone. Thus, leading him to have respect for all women, and it is reflected in the story. For instance, the main character Beatrice is this aesthetic, sweet, and a naГЇve woman and Giovanni is just focused more on her beauty rather than anything else. Moreover, when Giovanni first sees Beatrice in the garden, he describes her as the most beautiful woman he s ever seen and is just blinded by her beauty. What he doesn t know is that her father, Doctor Rappaccini, is a scientist who cares more about science more than anything else. The place where Beatrice and Giovanni spend all their time together is in the garden, which represents loneliness , and unfortunately one of the main characters will learn that the hard way. When Giovanni meets Professor Baglioni, a professor of medicine who is Rappaccini s rival he helps him get Beatrice, or at least that s what Giovanni thinks. However, what Giovanni does not know is that the love of his life isn t who he thinks she is. Beatrice Rappaccini is the daughter of a scientist who is experimenting with plants, and they have a beautiful garden in the backyard. She is the most beautiful woman that Giovanni has ever seen and people around the village agree that she is beautiful, but nobody knows the real her, they just notice her appearance. She is full of life, full of energy, and her heart is so big and there isn t a drop of evilness in her body. For an instance, the reptile contorted itself violently, and then lay motionless in the sunshine. Beatrice observed this remarkable phenomenon, and crossed herself (Hawthorne 411). When people cross themselves it s because they re at a funeral, something horrible just happened to one, or someone important to them. • 42. Achilles Vs Perpetua Quotes Achilles or Perpetua: Who is the more heroic? Greek tГ®mГЄ means, in a literal meaning, worth or value. It was a socially constructed value that measured a person s value to their society. Namely that an individual s sense of honor was only valid if others within their community perceived them to be honorable. Honor could be achieved such as military, social, or political or ascribed, in the sense that a person was honorable because of their reputation. In the same ways, a person could just as easily be dishonorable or shamed. Furthermore, the most crucial tenets of honor in antiquity would be whether a person has died with or without honor. Based on this concept, Achillesis irrefutably more heroic than Perpetua. Under the persecutions during the Severan Dynasty Perpetua, a twenty two year old new mother, was killed for her Christian beliefs. Although in today s definition of heroism (perhaps selflessness) we might answer this question differently, however if we are to examine these characters and their actions within... • 43. Values Of Compassio Forgiveness We all have the ability to be compassionate towards others and forgive. Humans are born as narcissistic beings; from the moment of birth we are selfish to our own needs. Perhaps, it has survival value. We cry when we are hungry. We do not know or care that our parents might be busy, in a literal sense, we are capable only of thinking of and responding to our own needs. We are, as infants, not even capable of realizing that other peoplehave needs, desires, or a life outside of us. As we grow up over time, ideally, we learn compassion it becomes natural to most of us, but only to a certain point. As such, most people never genuinely become good at it. Compassion is the ability to put ourselves in someone else s shoes, imagine things from their perspective, and then to feel kindness for them and seek understanding of them even if what they do is harmful to us. This usually goes against our needs and desires, and is at odds with our own experiences.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It does not mean the person occupies the same place in your life; nor does it imply that you carry on as if the transgression never happened. You can forgive someone and resolve never to see them again. You don t distance yourself out of anger or spite but out of respect for yourself; out of a healthy need to set new boundaries. Forgiving someone is not a gift to the person who hurt you but rather a gift to yourself. The goal of forgiveness is freedom from resentment, bitterness, anger or hatred (Macaskill, Maltby and Day, 2002). Harbouring these feelings cannot hurt another person but can cause you great harm. Chapter 7 accurately describes compassion and forgiveness. Ultimately, one cannot live harmoniously without out compassion and forgiveness in their
