The aim of the present study was to investigate which hemisphere is specialised for
the perception of emotion. It was hypothesised that participants will judge
chimeric faces with smile presented in the left visual field as happier more often
than chimeric faces with the smile presented in the right visual field. Twenty six
psychology students were asked to judge chimeric faces with one half being a
smiling expression and the other half with a neutral expression. The images were
presented in their left and right visual field. Over 28 experimental trials the
participants were asked to judge which face they thought looked happier. The
percentage of chimeric faces judged as happier for both left and right visual field
was recorded. The hypothesis was supported: chimeric faces with smile presented in
the left visual field as happier more often than chimeric faces with the smile presented
in the right visual field.

When asked how they felt overall about the equality of their education based on
gender, only two people responded that they felt there had not been fair treatment
between the sexes, these two will be discussed in depth later. Every respondent said
that they had not changed the beliefs they held during school. However, the

twenty four respondents graduating from

Observation: October 7th, 2011 oak court Mall 2:45pm to 4:15pm I walked into
the Oak Court Mall from the second level entrance to observe the young people of
today. As I entered the mall, my first thought was that watching young people

taken an interest in watching people that I did not have any direct contact with. I
took the escalator down to the first level and I ordered some Chinese food and a
lemonade drink. I found an empty table and proceeded to let the observation begin.
Much to my surprise, I began to pay close attention to a group of very young white

Life as a teenager is arguably the most confusing, difficult, and stressful time in a
person s life. There is a great amount of expectations and insecurities placed on
teens that hinder them from being active participants in the world. They must
undergo all of the changes of young adult life to develop into successful members
of society. In the 1990 s and the 2000 s, two separate films were released that depict
the cultural norms, social expectations, and developments of teenagers at that
period of time. Those two films, Mean Girls and 10 Things I Hate About You,
successfully illuminate the motives and characterizations of young adult life and
the troubles and tribulations that come along with it. 10 Things I Hate About You
is a film about teenagers growing up in Seattle in the 1990 s. The music, clothing,
and slang presented in the movie all emulate the time period in which it was
released. The movie itself is based off of the play by William Shakespeare, The
Taming of the Shrew. Senior, Kat Stratford, portrays an angsty teenager, degrading
any and all typical high school experiences. Her sister Bianca, on the other hand, is
well liked and well desired by two boys in school. She emulates the typical teen girl,

People in developed countries all over the world have come to see automobiles as
the preferred way to travel. They allow independence: point to point transportation
without having to rely on others to get where we want to go, to do what we want to
do. Long range travel and short range travel can be undertaken whenever one desires,
either alone or with other people. Citizens of the modern world must often wonder
how people ever lived without automobiles. To think that human beings once traveled
everywhere by foot or on horseback is not just a humorous idea to reminisce; it is

Simple mistakes, that everyone makes, can lead to great harm. Even the most
cautious and agile driver cannot avoid every possible stalled car, unexpected
furniture, careless cell phone user, stray animal, unexpected construction, or drunken
driver on the road.
Automobiles are therefore a huge source of potential injury, and even death. In the
year 2001 alone, 37, 795 people lost their lives in automobile accidents in the
United States. That is more people than the populations of many small cities in
America. In fact, that is over ten times more lives lost than were lost in the horrible

were injured in automobile accidents in the same time frame.3 Neither of these
numbers includes the thousands of pedestrians who are killed or injured every year
by automobiles.
Given the risks involved in the use of automobiles much consideration should be
given to how to best make automobiles safer for humans. Often times, however, safety
is not the first consideration in automobile design. Some automobile manufacturers
do not even look carefully at safety considerations until a new product is sent down
the crash test line and adjusted until it makes government safety requirements. On the
other hand, some manufacturers start car design with safety as their first priority.
