Meaning Of Cults
A cult has many different meanings. Our textbook defines a cult as a group that is
typically characterized by three things; the first being rituals and beliefs, showing
devotion to a god or person, the second being a charismatic leader, and the third is
isolation (Myers, 2015). In general, when people think about cults the response is
usually why are people persuaded to leave everything behind and join a cult? There
are usually two views on cults. The first is that a cult is not different from other
socially acceptable groups, however the second view is that cults use techniques
different from other groups that can be considered harmful (Pfeifer, 1992). My
interest in this topic stems from the time I learned about Charles Manson; in previous

The goal of this study was to make counsellors more competent in understanding
the challenges, needs, and successes of former cult members (Matthews Salazar,
2013). There is also mention of ways to improve this area of research such as a
further exploration of the experience of second generation males, gay, and lesbian
former member of a cult. The article was well written and gave me a different
perspective on the behavior of those who were born and raised in these groups. The
transitions were clear and the author made a compelling argument from the very first
line. It was a lot of information to process, but the author made sure the information
flowed well from the discussions to the conclusions.
The final article that I have chosen to review is A Self Psychological Approach to the
Cult Phenomenon by Doni Whitsett. This article was published in 1992 in the
Clinical Social Work Journal. The author states that the need for this article is that
professionals in mental health have not been giving this population the attention it
deserves and this article will take on biopsychosocial context to view the problem

Inventory Systems And The Inventory System
Merchandise Inventory
Merchandise Inventory has two types of Inventory systems, Perpetual and Periodic.
The perpetual inventory system is based on a running total of units as well as using
point of sales (POS) registers and scanner (Price, Haddock, Farina, 2015). The
perpetual inventory system on the other hand is based on a periodic count of goods
that are on hand, requires that a physical count of the inventory be performed when
creating the financial statements of a company. There are also different methods that
are used when assigning costs to products, these are: Specific Identification Method,
Average Cost Method, FIFO Method (First In First Out), and LIFO Method (Last In
First Out). When getting ready to choose a method it is ... Show more content on

The gross profit method will assume that the rate of gross profit on the sales and
the ratio of the cost of goods sold to the net sales are relatively constant for each
period (Price, Haddock, Farina, 2015). Whereas the retail method will estimate the
inventory cost by applying a ration to the cost to selling price for the current
accounting period (Price, Haddock, Farina, 2015). Finally there are also inventory
controls that each company should implement these can include but are not limited
to: limiting access to inventory, requiring documents for inventory to leave the
warehouse, taking a physical count, and including technology upgrades such as bar
scanners (these depend on company size) (Price, Haddock, Farina, 2015).
Property, Plant, and Equipment Property, Plant, and equipment will include real
property and tangible personal property (Price, Haddock, Farina, 2015). Real
property includes items such as land and land improvements, while tangible personal
property will typically include: machinery, furniture, computers and vehicles etc.
(Price, Haddock, Farina, 2015). When recording these it is important to remember
that there are certain costs which are associated to each of these. Included in the cost
of tangible personal property are; gross purchase price less the discount,
transportation cost, installation cost, as well as costs of adjustments or modifications
which are needed for the assets that are
The Joker In The Dark Knight
Character Analysis The Dark Knight, directed by Christopher Nolan, depicts Gotham
and its citizens defending their city from a malicious mastermind, the Joker. Crime in
Gotham virtually disappeared thanks to the efforts of Lieutenant Gordon, District
Attorney Harvey Dent, and Batman. The Joker aspires to corrupt the city by testing
its citizens integrity and moral principles. A clever criminal mind, the Joker develops
and alters schemes quickly to create mayhem throughout the streets of Gotham. The
chaos the Joker creates comes across as arbitrary and random to the viewer, however,
he surprises the audience with his meticulous planning. He knows that chaos will
incite terror among the citizens of Gotham and will test their ethical boundaries.
Easily distinguishable by his scars and distinctive makeup, the Joker draws attention
to himself and brings his diabolical intentions to light. He uses the story of his scars
to intimidate his victims with the infamous line, want to know how I got these scars?

their origin. He, then, uses cunning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On Mental Illness In Macbeth
Ladies and Gentlemen, in the trial of The People of Scotland vs. Macbeth, the
prosecution will claim a tale of a power hungry man who let ambition get the best of
him. They will present physical evidence of him with the dagger, him conspiring
with his wife, and him hiring men to kill. However, the evidence presented today by
the defense will tell the true story: a man overtaken by mental illness. Macbeth
displays the classic signs of narcissistic personality disorder: elevated sense of
entitlement and delusions about power. While Macbeth did commit the murders, he
was insane, and therefor did not commit the murders with criminal intent. The extent
of his mental disorder has manifested in hallucinations and the gradual unraveling of
his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Macbeth may talk of big plans to assassinate Duncan, but at the root he is still a
good person. His description predicts the eventual effect of his actions: total and
complete loss of rational self, and slippage into full blown psychosis. Following this
point, Macbeth should not be held accountable for his crimes, as he goes completely
insane.
A characteristic of narcissistic personality disorder is heavy hallucinations, caused by
a fantasy the person has imagined for themselves. Even before he murders Duncan,
Macbeth s delusion of him becoming king manifests through hallucinations involving
murder imagery. As he walks towards Duncan s room, a floating dagger, only
visible by him, leads him there. The mirage he has placed himself in, where he is
king of Scotland, has caused his subconscious to produce delusions, Is this a
dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch
thee. I have thee not and yet I see thee still (2.1.44 45). Macbeth acknowledges that
the dagger is not real, and yet he still attempts to clutch it, fully invested in his
fantasy. He describes later as A dagger of the mind , as if the very delusions he is
undergoing are ripping his mind apart (2.1.50). However, through the phrases of the
mind and I have thee not connote that he knows the visions

the purpose or direction for one or more other persons and gets them to move along
together with him or her and with each other in that direction with competence and

According to Nicole Fallon in Business News Daily on December 10, 2014, Leader
is someone who brings people together and guides them toward a common goal.
Anyone can tell others what to do, but effective leadership requires much more than
the ability to assign tasks to a group.
Although the goal is one, the ways to achieve the goals may vary. They may depend
upon characteristics, skills and vision of the leader

Dorothy s silver shoes took on the image of the silver coinage. Supporters of the
silver movement argued that it had flexibility and abundance for a long time,
likewise Dorothy felt the silver shoes would not wear out. But because she failed
to understand the ability of the shoes to carry her home to Kansas, she travels in a
direction not practical. The wizard and his different faces he wore was symbolic of
the corruption in politics, as well as the four main characters journey to the
Emerald City being compared to the tramps and poor that traveled to ask the
president for work in 1894 because dirty politicians had cost them their jobs. The
major figures in the story are personfied as a character from the late 1800 s.
Dorothy was used to portray the innocent of the United States. The U.S. always
had the chance to implement silver, but they were too simple to realize its power.
Likewise Dorothy owned the silver shoes but was too innocent to recognize their
power to take her home. The wicked witch of the West was symbolic of the
railroad barons, that tried to monopolize the railroad in order to have authority
over the common workers and farmers. In the same way the wicked witch of the

because he did not have a brain, he was considerate unable to reason ahead.

Stonewall Jackson During The American Civil War
On January 21, 1824 around midnight in Clarksburg, Virginia, now West Virginia,
one of the South s greatest Generals during the American Civil War was born. This
was Thomas Johnathan Jackson, also known as Stonewall Jackson. He was the third
born out of four siblings. His parents were Julia Beckwith Neale and Johnathan
Jackson (Stonewall Jackson). Jackson s childhood was very rough. When he was
two, his father and older sister died of typhoid fever within the same year. The
death of his father caused his mother to be widowed and left with little money and
many debts. To support her, now three, children, she sewed and taught. Not only that,

During this, Jackson was a part of Major General Winfield Scott s army. He
participated in the Siege of Veracruz and the campaign against Mexico City (T.J.

permanent tittle of First Lieutenant. He also was a part of the assault of Chapultepec
Castle. There, he again proved himself and was ranked up to Major (American Civil
War: Lieutenant General Thomas Stonewall Jackson). Jackson then returned to the
United States post war and accepted a teaching job at Virginia Military Institute in
Lexington. He was a Professor of Natural and Experimental Philosophy and also an
Instructor of Artillery. Although, his students were not fond of him. In the time of
him teaching, he married twice. His first wife was the daughter of Presbyterian
Minister, Dr. George Junkin, Elinor Junkin (Stonewall Jackson). Like Jackson s
mother, Elinor died of childbirth on October 22, 1854 of a stillborn son (Elinor
Junkin). July 1857, after a tour of Europe, he remarried Mary Anna Morrison.
Approximately two years later, they had a daughter. Unfortunately, less than a
month later, the baby died (T.J. Stonewall Jackson). In November, Jackson got back
into military life. He served as a Virginia Military Institute (VMI) officer following

4 Effects Of The Proclamation Of Emergency
Four important effects of the proclamation mentioned in Article 353, 354, 358 and
359 are as follows: The first important effect of the proclamation is : Contrary to
the normal circumstances, during proclamation of emergency, the Executive
power of the Union extends to giving directions to the State as to the manner in
which the executive power is to be exercised. The legislative power of the Union
also is extended to making laws in the State List, for a State or a part thereof, and
has an overriding effect. This includes power to impose duties on the Union and its
officers. The President is given power to promulgate Ordinances in the matters
included in the State List. The second important effect of the proclamation is: As

being parts of the same Constitution, stand on an equal footing and the two
provisions have to be read harmoniously in order that the intention behind Article 359
is carried out and it is not destroyed altogether. Also the enforcement of a particular
fundamental right is, for the sake of security of India, for which the subjective

Ted Bundy
Throughout history, criminal investigators have encountered different forms of
serial killers. One of the many famous serial killers in the twentieth century was
Theodore Robert Bundy (Ted Bundy). Ted Bundy was responsible for the Chi
Omega killings and many more. When people think of serial killers, they visualize
some dirty, crazy, looking individual that would stand out from everybody else. In
Ted s case this was different. Ted Bundywas a very smart individual who had

different states worked together in the apprehension of Bundy. The conviction of Ted
Bundy was credit towards good criminal investigation; with police cooperation,
forensic evidence and the witnesses statements. The police cooperation was the first
initial process of the investigation. The murders had started in Seattle, Washington
on January 31, 1974. Ted Bundy was living in Seattle and attending school at the
University of Washington at that present time. The first reported victim was a
twenty one year old by the name of Lynda Ann Healy. She had been abducted from
her apartment and the officers could only find her nightgown that was neatly hung
up in her closest with blood on it and her sheets also had traces of blood. The police
conducted searches but was unable to find Lynda. On March 12, Donna Gail Mason

The Border Patrol State Summary
Leslie Marmon Silko is a Tucson based Laguna Pueblo fiction author and poet.
Having been based in the southwestern area since 1978, she began to notice the
increase in border security and checkpoints. In 1994, her essay, The Border Patrol
State, was published in The Nation magazine.
In it, she explains her concerns and criticisms for the development and enforcement
of the US Mexican border, arguing that it is an infringement on the free right to
travel. She backs these arguments up with a series of anecdotal accounts and
experiences, using few statistical evidence. As a result, Silko s essay becomes very
powerful pathos wise, but weak when it comes to logos and ethos.
Silko s audience seems to be targeted at people who would likely or already agree
with her. For example people who lean left politically, people living in the area and
may have possibly gone through a similar experience, and minorities. The first
reason being where it was published The Nation. The nation is considered to be the
flagship of the political left (The Nation 9) as seen in The Nation s about page.
Secondly, her arguments tend to have a one sided feel which works well for people
who would or may already agree. She seems to appeal more to minorities, noting the
more frequent stoppage of Chicanos and Asians. She also states the fact that she is a
minority herself, being Native American.
Her style is unique in that it has the feeling of a story. The first reason being her use
of anecdotal
Compare And Contrast The American Revolution And The...
The French Revolution leaves a noble mark in history where peasants of a lower class
claimed their rights from a corrupt system of monarchs and social hierarchy. Looking
deeper into the events surrounding the French Revolution shows that there are
striking similarities with it s American counterpart; both America and France were
becoming dissatisfied with their absolute monarchy, poverty and taxation bringing
citizens to a boiling point. These indignities coupled with the spread of Enlightenment
ideas lead two nations to break away from old ties to monarchies that were a virtually
universal standard of government for centuries within mere years of each other.
When America held their revolution for freedom, France was quick to follow suite,
indicating that the events of the French Revolutionmirrored and were inspired by the
American Revolution in the way that poverty and taxes played a role in fueling
revolution, they were both influenced by enlightenment ideas, and that specific
actions and people recurred throughout both revolutions. The causes of both
revolutions were essentially the same. The lead up to the American Revolution
consisted of more than a decade of tensions concerning taxation of the colonies by
the British government in order to raise revenue. The most notable acts of the British
government that led to war were the Stamp Act of 1765, Townshend Tariffs of 1767,
and the Tea Act of 1773. These acts which created more taxes for the colonists

just fought a civil war in which Atahualpa, the emperor, had defeated his brother

Girl, Song of Solomon, and Push
Throughout slavery, myths were created about African American women. These
myths of yesterday have tainted the image of the African American woman today.
These myths include two major ideas, the first being that all African American
women are perceived as more promiscuous than the average white woman. The
second myth is that black women are virtually useless, containing only the
capabilities of working in white homes and raising white children. These myths
caused these women to be degraded in the eyes of others as well as themselves.

The History Of Community Television In Colombia

Big satellite dishes cover the roofs of several community centers in city
neighborhoods and towns in Colombia. Their visibility is a monument of a moment
in history in which these devices accelerated the access to international media
contents, years before the privatization of television distribution in the country.
Images, ideas and practices that surrounded the introduction of these devices lead to a
range of larger questions regarding social aspirations and distinctions attached to
technology. As satellite dishes were adapted and adopted across the country, political

In Agreement 006 of 1996, the Colombian National Television Authority also
established a set of prohibitions to community television which include signal radio
diffusion, service commercialization, reception and distribution of codified signals.
However, a year later, the National Authority started to refer to community television
as non profit community television, in which it demanded from Community
television to produce contents for keeping their status.
Through these legal changes, I explore emerging ideas of participation and
community that turned these infrastructures into hubs for production. Under these
circumstances, community television has turned into a small scale cultural industry
for producing of local content, supported by the idea that these projects empower
local sense of communities. By following some of the democratic changes introduced
in the 1991 constitution, and the free market policies on this decade, I will consider
how community projects joined discourses of self sustainability and accountability as
a condition for an emergent techno communitarianism, rooted in the infrastructures of
satellite dishes from the 1980s (Hay, 2007).

Failure To Meet Zoning Laws
City governments are tasked with writing and enforcing zoning laws that define all
aspects of private use of property within the city s district. In order for businesses
and other groups to build and use plots, or zones, of land that they own within the city
s district, they must get approval from various city government officials. Failure to
meet zoningrequirements for the specific use proposed, as interpreted by certain
officials, results in denial of the entity from using their land for that purpose. On
March 22nd, I attended a meeting of the Salt Lake City Planning Commission (PC).

status of the OSA s expansion is still uncertain. They cleared the first hurdle by
having the PC conditionally approve it, but they still need to appeal to the city

use of private property. This includes the proposed usage of each building and the
impact all structures have on the flow of foot and car traffic. I also learned all
about the good OSA are doing in trying to solve the problems of re incarceration,
homelessness, and drug addiction. I do not feel the meeting should be conducted in

perspective sets the facts down, so that the representatives of the program can

A Study on Mutual Funds of India
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
MEANING| A Mutual Fund is a trust that pools the savings of a number of investors
who share a common financial goal. The money thus collected is then invested in
capital market instruments such as shares, debentures and other securities. The
income earned through these investments and the capital appreciation realised are
shared by its unit holders in proportion to the number of units owned by them. Thus a
Mutual Fund is the most suitable investment for the common man as it offers an
opportunity to invest in a diversified, professionally managed basket of securities at a
relatively low cost. In other words, Mutual fund is a mechanism for pooling the
resources by issuing units to the investors and investing funds ... Show more content

Life Span Video Analysis
1.The first interesting fact that I got out of the video was over 1 quarter of babies
adopted in the United States are from China and most of them are girls. They are
girls because none of the Chinese families wanted girls. They do not want them
because they want their family name to live on where if they have a girl they
cannot. They also think a girl will move away from there area and never come
back where a boy will work in that area and will stay. The word that I am going to
relate to this is life span. Life Span is the maximum length of a species; for humans,
the longest that a human has lived. I think this relates by showing how girls in
China do not get a full life span. Well some didn t that get adopted. The others
though get either killed or abortion before they are even born. Life span is something
very nice to live through while some people do not to even get to live through that...

Another interesting fact that really grabbed my attention was Marissa when she
was leaving her China how she was sad because she was making connections with
her foster parents. She probably felt good with them because they looked like her
and that made her feel like she is at home. Her orphanage that she stayed at as a
young girl has 500 people in it now and that is very much to populated. They need to
figure out how they are going to get this population down and fast. A word that
relates to this is blended family. A blended family is a family whose members were
once part of other families. That relates perfectly with this by how Marissa was one
point with another family. Then she was put up for adoption and was adopted by an
American family. She was very happy with them but felt a little out of place because
she was Chinese. So her parents went and turned it around and went and adopted
another Chinese girl so Marissa has another one just like her. The blended family
really sticks out with this family with how many Chinese people there are and how
many Americans there

Should American Companies Follow American Laws When Doing Business Abroad
Rubin Ruiz
Miami Dade Community College
What is good for the goose is good for the gander, oh so some say. Well, if that is the
case, then why are American companies held to operate by certain laws in the United
States, and not when they operate in other countries abroad? For example, laws like
the ones that protect employee s rights, their earnings, and the environment. American
companies should practice the same laws when conducting business abroad because
those laws are imposed to secure social fairness and environmental safeties, amongst
other entities.
America is a great nation because of all the laws and regulation set forth to protect its

Lower employee wages are beneficial because they bring down the cost of products
used by Americans. But, some American companies exploit the lack of labor laws
of other countries by subcontracting work to the lowest bidders, no matter the harm.
As presented by Loomis (2015) a system of apparel production hunts down the
world s poor for exploitation without consequence for American companies . In
doing so, the employees wind up being underpaid or in some cases, they become
prisoners of sweatshops, where they get treated poorly. As depicted by Loomis
(2015). in his article, he quotes a young boy that was subjected to sweatshops He
used to hit the other two boys with a thick stick. Just like me he did not take them
to a doctor even when they were bleeding badly. Finally one day last month, the two
boys somehow managed to escape from the factory. Chaudhary did not even bother
to look for them, but he started locking me up during the nights after that .
Horrifying stories like this one are happening because there are no regulations or
laws to govern American companies with regards to these issues. U.S. companies
need to be held accountable for the issues introduced by their search of competitive
solutions.
Some of the American companies venturing abroad also play a part in the poisoning
of the environment. The United States regulates pollution control through the Clean
Air Act and Clean Water Act and hold companies liable for violating these

Aims And Objectives Of Ergonomics
(What is ergonomics?)
Ergonomics as a whole word means human factors. It is the scientific discipline that
is concerned with the basic understanding of social interactions among the humans
and the humans with the elements which are working in a system. It is the subject
that uses theory, and its well known methods and the principles to design a certain
situation which is good for the human beings working in an environment of the
organization moreover it helps to optimize the overall performance of the
organization.
The Ergonomists around the world have contributed in designing and evaluating
tasks, products, jobs, and workplace environments that make the needs, limitations
and the abilities of workers compatible. It is basically the science ... Show more

This situation affects their safety and welfare, as well as, that of organizations and
societies.
High technology can make our lives more efficient and exciting. However, fascination
with technology and overly ambitious business expectation can cause us to overlook
human factors risks. Neglecting these risks can have serious effects on
manufacturers, suppliers and service enterprises.
Therefore, ergonomics and human factors will be more important in postmodern era
than when it was first introduced in the nineteenth century.
Objectives of Ergonomics in Organizations of Pakistan:
пѓЁTo assess and quantify the safety measures taken at different sections of sugar
mills and other big and small industries of Pakistan regarding ergonomics and
occupational health.
пѓЁTo point out critical shortfalls in the existing design of machinery and suggest
the proper modification of the existing design to reduce accidents at different
sections of sugar plant to be incorporated in industries work force by laws
пѓЁTo develop appropriate training and education program for operators in order to
minimize occupational health disorders.

Aldera The Rise And Fall Of The Sith Empire
Civility. That is how one might best sum the qualities of Alderaan in one word. It
was an ordered world, a peaceful world. Estates and castles which dotted the green
landscape below the cloudless alps were a truly breathtaking sight to behold. Now,
however, those fortresses which existed more for decoration and title than true
defense were nearly all but rubble beneath the iron boot of the Sith Empire. Still,
Asher did carry a fondness for the cool climate and scenic warzones. The people of
Alderaan were not all that different to his own Empire, in a way. There were lords
and vassals; a caste of servants and an order to things which assured everyone was in
their proper place. There only true difference, as far as the young Sith was concerned,
was that the nobles of Alderaan claimed their title from birth without being born with

Essay on Unbearable Lightness of being
A touching and sad novel, at once a compelling love story, philosophical text, and
dialogue with Frederich Nietzsche The Unbearable Lightness of Being is all of
these and more, perhaps most importantly a manifesto of embracing nihilism. Milan
Kundera opens the novel with a discourse on Nietzsche s doctrine of the eternal
recurrence. He rejects any view of the recurrence as being real or metaphysical. It is
metaphorical he assures us. In a world of objective meaninglessness one must fall
into nihilism unless one acts as if one s acts recur eternally, thus giving our acts
quot;weight, quot; the weight of those choices we make, as though recurring
eternally, living forever. Kundera rejects Nietzsche s optimism and in compelling

Tomas follows in a few days, knowing that somehow this is crazy and he is
condemning himself to misery, but he must go, it is his fate and he returns. In a
second incident he had published a letter to the editor in a newspaper which
explored the notion of being responsible for acts whether or not one KNEW the
outcome. His model case was Oedipus who had no idea he was violating so many
social and moral rules of his society. Tomas is speaking about those in
Czechoslovakia who acted in a similar manner toward the Russians. Later on this
is taken as a socially subversive point of view and he is asked to retract. For
reasons he himself hardly understands he refuses and his refusal causes him to be
banned as a physician and condemned to low level manual labor, first in Prague and
later on a collective farm in a rural area. But even these choice are more his fate
than a choice of meaning. The notion of fate, or what Nietzsche refers to as
quot;amor fati quot; (love of fate) is the notion that nature somehow presents us with
situations which we cannot escape and we simply have to bear them. Tomas must
accept and bear his love for Tereza no matter how painful and hopeless. He must
accept his Oedipus letter no matter the consequences. Yet, even this acceptance
cannot escape the ultimate quot;unbearable lightness of being, quot; the
meaninglessness of all our acts in a world in which our acts simply don t live forever.

Breaking Amish Values
Amish values are focused firstly around God, and then around their family, which are
the same values many cultures around North America share. The children go to

may need help (Bax).
To keep with their importance of community and simplicity, they also believe in
equality of everyone in the community. They wear similar clothing so no one can

respondents with Dutch, Belgian, French and Spanish nationalities. This should be

experiences before, during, and after the Croatian Civil War. After losing her parents

lives in America. She encounters stark differences between her childhood in Croatia
and adulthood in America. Ana learns that although she physically left the civil war,

Gender Roles In The Renaissance
The Renaissance brought many artistic and social advancements, however, the role of
women in society continued to be objects for male consumption. Extremely defined
gender roles confined women to the domestic sphere, where they had very little
economic, legal, or political rights. The behavior of women was also an important
indication of the social status and reputation of their families. Femalesexuality,
particularly among upper society, was highly regulated to ensure chastity before
marriage and the legitimacy of heirs during a marriage. In the upper classes of
society, the patriarchal social system evolved as the primary way to regulate womans
behavior and maintain male social control.

The only nudity displayed by Mary is when she breastfeeds Christ, where one bare

Mary and Eve were used by artists and the church to police female sexuality.
sexualizing Eve in the depictions of the original sin to disparage female sexuality,

An excellent example of the Madonna/whore complex in Renaissance art is Carlo

the altarpiece, the Mary sits with Christ and is depicted as humble and virtuous, an
idealized woman to demonstrate the role of women in the Church. Below Mary lies

that Montresor s emotions escalated towards the end of the story. This escalation is
shown when Montresor basks in Fortunato s anguish and says: I re echoed I aided
I surpassed them in volume and in strength . Some things are missed by using the
first person point of view for storytelling, such as Fortunato s feelings, and reasons
for insulting Mortimore. The story as told is also one sided, we can only see how
things are from Montresor point of
Heston s The Never Ending Cultural Views
The Never Ending Cultural Views It started with a man named Charlton Heston
whom spoke his views at a Harvard Law School Forum. By him speaking his mind
it proved that the cultural balance is still in favor of ignorance. Charles mentioned
that we are fighting a great cultural war against one another that can hijack your very
own birthright. Charles has proven why we are in a cultural war within our own
fellow Americans. No matter the outcome that he instills in to any of his speeches
people would react no different no matter the background he has gone through. The
audience does not know who or what Heston has done to prove that he believes that
every fellow American is all one. Heston mentions, the stuff that made this country

Statement of Purpose for a Residency in the Fileld of...
Upon entering medical school I had no idea what type of medicine I wanted to
practice. I had originally anticipated that I would become some type of surgeon,
because of my enjoyment of working with my hands and visual attention to detail. It
wasn t until after completing my core rotations that I envisioned myself as a family
doctor.
During my rotations, the rounds were limited to inquiring about pain, fever,
nausea, vomiting, passage of gas and inspection of surgical wounds. The patient
interaction was unfulfilling, as the patient interaction was superficial and difficult
to see the patient as a whole. I did, however, enjoy all the clinic aspects of all my
rotations. I enjoyed caring for both the young and old, the well and sick, new
problems and chronic ones. I was able to get to know people of different
backgrounds; from the homeless, to Hispanic migrant workers, to upper class
suburban individuals. I enjoy approaching complex problems in a systematic
manner: taking a problem apart and dividing it into organ based systems, looking
for connections, and searching for the root of a problem. My strengths lie in my
ability to address and incorporate a person s cultural and emotional well being while
tackling a generalized problem and narrowing the options down to a single source.
Ironically, I began to have a change of heart while attempting to impress my internal
medicine attending by staying late after evening rounds to look up an interesting case

The Human Race s Progression Essay
As the world progresses in different ways concerning technology, resources, and
more, most people question if the human race s evolution and the world s
progression is acting in an inverse relationship. As the world becomes more
advanced and fast paced most people never have a chance to catch up with the ever
lasting progression. In order to stay on top of things, more and more people decide
to indulge in a technique known to many as multi tasking . Multi tasking is the act of
taking on more than one activity at once with the mindset of accomplishing both
around the same time. Although multi tasking might allow you to finish things more
quickly, the end product for the things will not be up to par compared to the idea if
you had worked separately on the tasks. Multi tasking not only hinders the end
product of the work but it also hinders our brain, and our processing methods.
Attempting to balance numerous things will push your brain to the limits, and hurt
its progress in the long run rather than improve it. Multi tasking is the epitome of
working to no end we will keep working, but there will be no end due to the effects it
has on the mind. Multi tasking in today s time is now effecting todays generation
more harshly than ever before. The effects of multi tasking are prevalent in their
school work. Multi tasking is effecting the outcomes of tests, homeworks, and how
fast students process things in the school environment. It s effecting students socially,
academically
Reflection Of A Project Manager Essay
Part 2. Reflection
Project manager as the name suggests is the one who has to everything from start
to end for a project and he has everything that goes on in a project is done under his
supervision. He is the commander of everything and in the end if something goes
wrong then he is the one who will be held responsible and not the workers or the
labor or anything for that matter. So obviously being a project manager is not an easy
task and cannot be given to anyone. To be a project manager you just don t have to
have the technical skills but also personal and professional skills. You should have
motivational skills and you should know how to create a positive and friendly
atmosphere at work. A perfect project manager would be the one who balances
everything in the most perfect manner possible.
A project manager has to have technical knowledge in depth and he should be
trained enough before he starts working for clients because clients put a lot of
money in their projects and it all risks in one man s hand and he is the project
manager. He should be knowledgeable enough to know how much to put and where
to put correctly. One wrong decision by him can cause hundreds and thousands of
dollars to the client and in some cases even more. He should be active and focused
on his work from start to end, there is no stage in the project which is not important
or less important. Everything and anything is important and a project manager should
know that, so until the project is handed
The Namesake Identity
In The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri, every main character struggles with his or her
identity and individuality. Many of the characters struggle with this because they are
torn between their Indian roots and American pop culture. They must adjust to the
American lifestyle by adapting to new cultures and customs. This transition proves to
be much more difficult than the Ganguli family expects. Throughout the novel, it is
evident that the characters constantly feel the tug of different cultures; however the
question is, will they stray from their roots and loose themselves along the way or
find themselves as they embrace change. The novel begins with Ashoke Ganguli and
Ashima getting married in Calcutta, India and moving to the United States.... Show

He is making something of himself and venturing into the life of a real adult. After
he earns his graduate degree in architecture, he moves into an apartment in New
York City. He then gets a laid back job at an architecture firm and gets invited to a
loft party by a co worker. There he meets a classy girl named Maxine and they
immediately hit it off. The two spend so much time together that Gogol hardly
ever stays at his own apartment anymore. His mother asks him to visit home
before his father leaves for a research job in Ohio, and he brings Maxine along to
meet the family. When Gogol is telling his father goodbye, his father calls him
Gogol in front of Maxine, which is odd for her because she has only known him as
Nikhil; however, she doesn t ask many questions and quickly drops it. As readers,
we may assume Maxine is thinking she doesn t even know the man she is dating
and we wonder if she is much more curious than she may seem. After returning
from a party with Maxine and her parents, he receives a call from his younger
sister, Sonia, informing him of his father s death. This is extremely symbolic
because not only has Gogol lost his father, but because of the connection between
his father and his name, he has also lost a piece of himself. Maxine offers to go with
Gogol and is very upset when he turns her down, but Gogol was firm in his decision
because he knows he must comfort his family in their time of mourning. On the

True Grit Analysis
The movie True Grit is set in a chaotic time period of the American Frontier known as
the Old West, or the Wild West. The American Frontier describes the edge of a settled
area. Throughout the 18th and 19th century, the frontier continued to expand
westward. In the mid 1800s, the frontier had been pushed into Nebraska and Kansas.
Gold mines were attractive sources of wealth for many to move West. Eventually,
railroads were built that connected the Western states and the East.( American ).
Throughout the West, many towns began to flourish in population due to the
attraction of mines. Gambling also became a prominent source of entertainment.
Although the West holds many opportunities, it also holds its fair share of
difficulties. The climate was dry, the land was difficult to farm. Money was often
short. As people struggled for their opportunities, chaotic violence became a telling
point of the Old West ( The Western ). The task of controlling the violence of the
West often fell into the hands of U.S. Marshals. They became renowned in the latter
half of the 19th century for their heroics acts of punishing the lawlessness of the
frontier towns ( U.S. ).
Part II The Film True Grit begins with Mattie Ross, a 14 year old girl, who is
determined to track down the murderer of her father. After receiving her father s
corpse at Fort Smith, Mattie decided to stay alone to find someone to help persecute
the murderer, Tom Chaney. Finding out that he has escaped to the Indian

Definitions Paper
What are creativity, innovation, and design, and how are these concepts important to
meeting the objectives of an organization? To understand these concepts they must
first be defined. Webster s dictionary (http://www.merriam webster.com) defines
creativity as the Ability to produce something new through imaginative skill,
whether a new solution to a problem, a new method or device, or a new artistic
objects or form. The term generally refers to a richness of ideas and originality of
thinking. Psychological studies of highly creative people have shown that many have
a strong interest in apparent disorder, contradiction, and imbalance, which seem to be
perceived as challenges. Such individuals may possess an ... Show more content on

New sciences have also contributed to technology, as in the theoretical preparation for
the invention of the steam engine. In the 20th century, innovations in semiconductor
technology increased the performance and decreased the cost of electronic materials
and devices by a factor of a million, an achievement unparalleled in the history of any
technology.
I would define innovation as the ability to apply this creative thinking to an existing
product, solution or approach that improves the outcome of a solution to a problem
or usefulness of a product. Innovation is the ability to put creative thoughts to use in
a way that is beneficial to a person, product, object, problem or situation. .
Design is defined by Webster as to create, fashion, execute, or construct according to
plan; to conceive and plan out in the mind; to have as a purpose; to devise for a
specific function or end; to conceive or execute a plan; or to draw, lay out, or prepare
a design.
I would define design as taking these creative thoughts and ideas, or applying an
innovative concept, and putting them into a plan of action. Design is the point at
which creativity and innovation become a useful part of a solution. It is the ability to
take creative thoughts and manifest them into a tangible object or cohesive solution,
and incorporate that into a plan of action to solve a particular problem or take a
product to market,

The Hero Loses
In the mystery thriller Seven from 1995, we meet the two homicide detectives
William Somerset and David Mills, played by Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt.
Together they are hunting a serial killer who uses the seven deadly sins as reasons
for his murders. At the end of the movie, the two detectives are out in the desert
together with the murderer, John Doe. He has told them that they are going to find
the last two corpses. The two detectives have already found five of his victims, so
the last two bodies will make his work complete. After a while, the sixth victims
head is delivered in a box. It belongs to Detective Mills wife, Tracy. This makes Mills
so upset that he shoots John Doe, who becomes the seventh corpse. ... Show more

Additionally, he has committed a murder, which is a really serious crime. He would
probably spend many years in prison to serve his sentence. And on the top of all
this, he will probably never get permission to work as a homicide detective again.
In other words, his life is practically ruined and it will never be the same again after
this day. Detective Mills is one of the heroes in the movie and a person whom the
audience sympathize with. So because it is a really tragical ending for him, the
audience would probably also think that it is an unhappy ending.
Above all, David Mills position as a hero is weakened because he is not able to
resist the temptation to kill. Mills chooses the easiest solution by shooting John
Doe. In a situation like this, it might be easier to shoot John Doe, than to defeat the
temptation and do the right thing. It is human to search for justice and when
someone has really hurt you it takes a lot of strength not to hurt them back.
Because David Mills would have shown more strength by laying down the gun and
also ruin John Doe s masterpiece, this murder weakened his position as a hero. As I
have mentioned earlier, David Mills is considered as one of the heroes. His job is to
solve criminal puzzles and he represents safety in the community. Consequently most
people expect him to do the right thing. So when he chooses the easiest solution and
becomes a murderer, it is probably also a disappointment for the audience.

Solar and Lunar Eclipes
Procrastination is part of the human condition. We avoid what s painful and stay in
our comfort zones. That s why we occasionally need a little cosmic kick in the
pants to push us off the fence and into action. Eclipses are these agents of change.
They fall four to six times a year and turn things upside down. In our disoriented
state, we may act out of character or see turbulence in the world. Eclipses can also
help break patterns and shift dynamics. However, most astrologers suggest waiting a
week or so before taking drastic action, allowing the eclipse energy to settle first. A
lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes behind the Earth so that the Earth blocks
the Sun s rays from striking the Moon. This can occur only when the Sun,... Show

Essay The Importance of Gender in Buffy, The Vampire
Slayer
The Importance of Gender in Buffy, The Vampire Slayer
What is gender? The answer to that is not so simple. Gender is what culture makes
out of the raw material of biological sex, (Unger and Crawford, 1995). Also, there is
a difference between what is gender identity and what is a gender role; a difference
which seems to be even more difficult to differentiate between than the words gender
and sex . Media and other parts of our culture seem to believe they know the
difference, yet up until a certain period in time, the same stereotypical characters
were portrayed and used as role models for others in most media. Women characters
being the helpless victims, while the strong men would come to save them (including

At the same time, though, the show allows its characters to explore their own ideas
of what gender is, and how those ideas come into play with the ideas of the people in
their environment.
In the film, Buffy is a strong, demon fighting woman, taking on opponents who only
she can do any damage to; whereas the men in her life (Pike and Merrick) must
stand back or they might be hurt. But upon speaking, Buffy practically epitomized
the reason for every dumb blond female joke. She did not understand big words,
and spoke in the true stereotypical California girl manner, using the like after almost
every other word. She seemed like an airhead, and up until she truly understood
what her destiny was, she spoke and acted like one. But the film version was meant
to be a flaky comedy , while the television series is many times referred to being a
dramedy (it is considered a drama, in this case, a science fiction/action drama, with
a bit of comedy to keep it light .) In the television series, although Buffy still speaks
in slang and still appears to be the reason a dumb blond joke was ever invented, her
vocabulary has become much more mature and clear. She is more in control of
what is happening, or has happened to her, and is beginning to harness herself as
her own person, her own identity. She is not acting, or trying to be a certain type of
person because everyone is telling her that that is who she is. Instead she is taking
her identity and molding it; shaping it

In the beginning of my endeavor at Kent State University, it was a hard adjustment
for me at first but now that I am involved in many activities I feel as if I found the

it my new home, but I knew my roommate it made it easier. When I came into this
whole process of what people call a new start I at first thought I wouldn t like my
roommate because everyone says, don t room with someone you know so I came
into it being a little pessimistic and found all the flaws immediately about her and

Do not put your friends or hanging out with people over your academic studies, a
few of my friends did that and it did not end well for them. I would also tell the
incoming freshman to make sure that they love the major they are pursuing and if
they don t it isn t a big deal to change it. Being a freshman it is intimidating
definitely seeing all of the older people with their life all figured out, but it will all
workout in the end and be worth it. I can personally say that my first semester of
college did not end the way that I planned on it going, but it s a lesson learned and I
am fixing my mistakes and starting fresh 2nd semester. A few of my goals that I
would like to accomplish for next semester are to get a 3.5 gpa, to figure out the path
and career I would like to go down, and to be successful with whatever I do. I believe
that these are all good goals because they all lead to success. Success to me is a big
thing, the way I can achieve my other two goals is by being successful, if I study
hard, go to class and complete all the tasks given to me then I will get good grades
and be able to find the career that I want to have when I am older and get on the right
track. I believe that Kent State University has all the supplies that I need to be
successful in my life and I honestly could not be happier with the university that I

The Effect Of Sensitivity Of Sub Surface Fatigue Cracks During Service Stage Of
Gears R.Vyjayanthi ,Dr.B.Venkatesh Department of mechanical engineering
Vardhaman College of engineering India, Hyderabad, 500070
Vyjayanthi8@Gmail.Com Abstract Gears are one of the most critical components in
mechanical power transmission systems. Gear failures occur due to defect formation
during manufacturing and service stage of gear .Mostly failures during service stage
of gear show major effect on the component. Development in technology evaluated a
new technique of inspection called Non destructive testing technique to detect and
characterize such defects and anomalies in the component, and also ensuring pre
service quality and monitoring in service degradation to avoid pre mature failure of
the component. In this paper sub surface fatigue crack that occur most commonly
during service stage, ultrasonic inspection for finding sensitivity of crack in gears
and its effects on life of gear during service stage is discussed. Keywords sub surface
fatigue crack; ultrasonic inspection; Sensitivity of flaw;effects. I.INTRODUCTION
The field of non destructive testing (NDT) is a very broad, interdisciplinary field that
plays a critical role in assuring that structural components and systems perform their
function in a reliable and cost effective manner [4]. NDT techniques are used to
locate and characterize material conditions and flaws that cause major damages to the
systems and components.
Importance Of Music In The Movie
Music: Music Makes the Movie
Words make you think a thought. Music makes you feel a feeling. A song makes
you feel a thought (Y. Harburg). Not many people realize the impact that music has
on our feelings, especially in movies. The soundtracks give movie s life and their
implementation is key to the success of a movie. If music was removed from films,
the experience would be lacking for the viewers because music develops a mood,
keeps the audience focused, and connects to the story directly.
Music featured in movies develops a unique atmosphere for the spectator. After a
study on music s effects on the brain, scientists concluded, Music is linked to the
region of the brain that deals with euphoric stimuli. The blood flow in the brain is
associated with reward, emotion and arousal (Helen). The music is literally
affecting the brain which is causing the person to feel the mood more vividly and
realistically. The music acts as a tool to make the audience feel like they are in the
movie. A strategy that directors use in their movies is to use low frequency bass
waves that cause anxiety, extreme sorrow, heart palpitations, and shivering (Millar).
The vibrations give people the sense of being scared and immerses them farther into
a scary scene. This is important because it proves that music can change the mood of
a viewer depending on which music is being played.
A movie soundtrack can describe a character s traits and give the audience a preview
of a character before any
The Paradox In Robert Heinlein s All You Zombies
All You Zombies, by Robert Heinlein, is a famous science fiction story that
entwined one of the best paradoxes. The idea of one person being everyone,
including her own mother, father and daughter and has to continuously leap
through time to be able to exist. Despite that paradox isn t revealed until near the
end of the story, it is symbolised through the bartenders ring of a snake eating it s
own tail. Heinlein also shows how the paradox might affect a person s view of the
world through the idea of solipsism. The main point, however, is how the paradox is
literally everything in the story. The Unmarried Mother, or Jane before the sex
change, is the protagonist in the story, and all the other characters of the story as
well. Although in most cases this would be impossible, the story is a paradox. A
paradox, something that seems possible until further investigated and found that it is
logically unacceptable, is the very reason Jane exists. Jane was unknowingly born a
hermaphrodite, and lived unhappily in an orphanage. As the story progressed, she
meets a man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

presence. I know where I came from but where did all you zombies come from?...
You Aren t really there at all. There isn t anybody but me jane here alone in the
dark, knowing that their life is based off a paradox, Jane starts to wonder how
everything else is out there before stating that there is only Jane. This way of
thinking is Solipsism, the idea that the mind is the only thing that can be known to
exist and anything outside the mind is unwarranted. This is a motivation for Jane to
continue to replay the paradox over and over again, because Jane is everything. Jane
is every person, Jane is the reason behind everything and Jane is the

  • 2. Meaning Of Cults A cult has many different meanings. Our textbook defines a cult as a group that is typically characterized by three things; the first being rituals and beliefs, showing devotion to a god or person, the second being a charismatic leader, and the third is isolation (Myers, 2015). In general, when people think about cults the response is usually why are people persuaded to leave everything behind and join a cult? There are usually two views on cults. The first is that a cult is not different from other socially acceptable groups, however the second view is that cults use techniques different from other groups that can be considered harmful (Pfeifer, 1992). My interest in this topic stems from the time I learned about Charles Manson; in previous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The goal of this study was to make counsellors more competent in understanding the challenges, needs, and successes of former cult members (Matthews Salazar, 2013). There is also mention of ways to improve this area of research such as a further exploration of the experience of second generation males, gay, and lesbian former member of a cult. The article was well written and gave me a different perspective on the behavior of those who were born and raised in these groups. The transitions were clear and the author made a compelling argument from the very first line. It was a lot of information to process, but the author made sure the information flowed well from the discussions to the conclusions. The final article that I have chosen to review is A Self Psychological Approach to the Cult Phenomenon by Doni Whitsett. This article was published in 1992 in the Clinical Social Work Journal. The author states that the need for this article is that professionals in mental health have not been giving this population the attention it deserves and this article will take on biopsychosocial context to view the problem (Whitsett,
  • 3. Inventory Systems And The Inventory System Merchandise Inventory Merchandise Inventory has two types of Inventory systems, Perpetual and Periodic. The perpetual inventory system is based on a running total of units as well as using point of sales (POS) registers and scanner (Price, Haddock, Farina, 2015). The perpetual inventory system on the other hand is based on a periodic count of goods that are on hand, requires that a physical count of the inventory be performed when creating the financial statements of a company. There are also different methods that are used when assigning costs to products, these are: Specific Identification Method, Average Cost Method, FIFO Method (First In First Out), and LIFO Method (Last In First Out). When getting ready to choose a method it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The gross profit method will assume that the rate of gross profit on the sales and the ratio of the cost of goods sold to the net sales are relatively constant for each period (Price, Haddock, Farina, 2015). Whereas the retail method will estimate the inventory cost by applying a ration to the cost to selling price for the current accounting period (Price, Haddock, Farina, 2015). Finally there are also inventory controls that each company should implement these can include but are not limited to: limiting access to inventory, requiring documents for inventory to leave the warehouse, taking a physical count, and including technology upgrades such as bar scanners (these depend on company size) (Price, Haddock, Farina, 2015). Property, Plant, and Equipment Property, Plant, and equipment will include real property and tangible personal property (Price, Haddock, Farina, 2015). Real property includes items such as land and land improvements, while tangible personal property will typically include: machinery, furniture, computers and vehicles etc. (Price, Haddock, Farina, 2015). When recording these it is important to remember that there are certain costs which are associated to each of these. Included in the cost of tangible personal property are; gross purchase price less the discount, transportation cost, installation cost, as well as costs of adjustments or modifications which are needed for the assets that are

Crime in Gotham virtually disappeared thanks to the efforts of Lieutenant Gordon, District Attorney Harvey Dent, and Batman. The Joker aspires to corrupt the city by testing its citizens integrity and moral principles. A clever criminal mind, the Joker develops and alters schemes quickly to create mayhem throughout the streets of Gotham. The chaos the Joker creates comes across as arbitrary and random to the viewer, however, he surprises the audience with his meticulous planning. He knows that chaos will incite terror among the citizens of Gotham and will test their ethical boundaries. Easily distinguishable by his scars and distinctive makeup, the Joker draws attention to himself and brings his diabolical intentions to light. The only realties in life, according to the Joker, involve chaos, anarchy, and disorder. In the hospital, Harvey Dent is persuaded by the Joker that he needs to live his life without rules. The Joker, with a crazed look on his face, tells Dent, do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I m a dog chasing cars. I wouldn t know what to do with one if I caught it. You know? I just do things. The mob has plans. The cops have plans. Gordon s got plans. You know, they re schemers. Schemers trying to control their little worlds. I m not a schemer. I try to show the schemers...how pathetic their attempts to control things really are (Nolan). In essence, the Joker simply wants to disrupt what he views as a world filled with
  • 5. Essay On Mental Illness In Macbeth Ladies and Gentlemen, in the trial of The People of Scotland vs. Macbeth, the prosecution will claim a tale of a power hungry man who let ambition get the best of him. They will present physical evidence of him with the dagger, him conspiring with his wife, and him hiring men to kill. However, the evidence presented today by the defense will tell the true story: a man overtaken by mental illness. Macbeth displays the classic signs of narcissistic personality disorder: elevated sense of entitlement and delusions about power. While Macbeth did commit the murders, he was insane, and therefor did not commit the murders with criminal intent. The extent of his mental disorder has manifested in hallucinations and the gradual unraveling of his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Macbeth may talk of big plans to assassinate Duncan, but at the root he is still a good person. His description predicts the eventual effect of his actions: total and complete loss of rational self, and slippage into full blown psychosis. Following this point, Macbeth should not be held accountable for his crimes, as he goes completely insane. A characteristic of narcissistic personality disorder is heavy hallucinations, caused by a fantasy the person has imagined for themselves. Even before he murders Duncan, Macbeth s delusion of him becoming king manifests through hallucinations involving murder imagery. As he walks towards Duncan s room, a floating dagger, only visible by him, leads him there. The mirage he has placed himself in, where he is king of Scotland, has caused his subconscious to produce delusions, Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not and yet I see thee still (2.1.44 45). Macbeth acknowledges that the dagger is not real, and yet he still attempts to clutch it, fully invested in his fantasy. He describes later as A dagger of the mind , as if the very delusions he is undergoing are ripping his mind apart (2.1.50). However, through the phrases of the mind and I have thee not connote that he knows the visions

The wizard and his different faces he wore was symbolic of the corruption in politics, as well as the four main characters journey to the Emerald City being compared to the tramps and poor that traveled to ask the president for work in 1894 because dirty politicians had cost them their jobs. The U.S. always had the chance to implement silver, but they were too simple to realize its power. • 11. The Border Patrol State Summary Leslie Marmon Silko is a Tucson based Laguna Pueblo fiction author and poet. Having been based in the southwestern area since 1978, she began to notice the increase in border security and checkpoints. In 1994, her essay, The Border Patrol State, was published in The Nation magazine. In it, she explains her concerns and criticisms for the development and enforcement of the US Mexican border, arguing that it is an infringement on the free right to travel. She backs these arguments up with a series of anecdotal accounts and experiences, using few statistical evidence. As a result, Silko s essay becomes very powerful pathos wise, but weak when it comes to logos and ethos. Silko s audience seems to be targeted at people who would likely or already agree with her. For example people who lean left politically, people living in the area and may have possibly gone through a similar experience, and minorities. The first reason being where it was published The Nation. The nation is considered to be the flagship of the political left (The Nation 9) as seen in The Nation s about page. Secondly, her arguments tend to have a one sided feel which works well for people who would or may already agree. She seems to appeal more to minorities, noting the more frequent stoppage of Chicanos and Asians. She also states the fact that she is a minority herself, being Native American. Her style is unique in that it has the feeling of a story. The first reason being her use of anecdotal
  • 12. Compare And Contrast The American Revolution And The... The French Revolution leaves a noble mark in history where peasants of a lower class claimed their rights from a corrupt system of monarchs and social hierarchy. Looking deeper into the events surrounding the French Revolution shows that there are striking similarities with it s American counterpart; both America and France were becoming dissatisfied with their absolute monarchy, poverty and taxation bringing citizens to a boiling point. These indignities coupled with the spread of Enlightenment ideas lead two nations to break away from old ties to monarchies that were a virtually universal standard of government for centuries within mere years of each other. When America held their revolution for freedom, France was quick to follow suite, indicating that the events of the French Revolutionmirrored and were inspired by the American Revolution in the way that poverty and taxes played a role in fueling revolution, they were both influenced by enlightenment ideas, and that specific actions and people recurred throughout both revolutions. The causes of both revolutions were essentially the same. The lead up to the American Revolution consisted of more than a decade of tensions concerning taxation of the colonies by the British government in order to raise revenue. The most notable acts of the British government that led to war were the Stamp Act of 1765, Townshend Tariffs of 1767, and the Tea Act of 1773. These acts which created more taxes for the colonists angered them

However, a year later, the National Authority started to refer to community television as non profit community television, in which it demanded from Community television to produce contents for keeping their status. Through these legal changes, I explore emerging ideas of participation and community that turned these infrastructures into hubs for production. Under these circumstances, community television has turned into a small scale cultural industry for producing of local content, supported by the idea that these projects empower local sense of communities. By following some of the democratic changes introduced in the 1991 constitution, and the free market policies on this decade, I will consider how community projects joined discourses of self sustainability and accountability as a condition for an emergent techno communitarianism, rooted in the infrastructures of satellite dishes from the 1980s (Hay, 2007). Tomas must accept and bear his love for Tereza no matter how painful and hopeless. He must accept his Oedipus letter no matter the consequences. Yet, even this acceptance cannot escape the ultimate quot;unbearable lightness of being, quot; the meaninglessness of all our acts in a world in which our acts simply don t live forever. To analyze this, the research is divided in three topics. The first one discusses the interest from customers to buy online. The second looks at drivers and barriers for people to buy online. Finally, the third topic investigates the different product categories that Caddyhome should include in their assortment. To analyze these topics, a market research was conducted through a face to face questionnaire and the results analyzed through a statistical program called SPSS. These results can be found in Appendix A. On the basis of these results, recommendations are given to Caddyhome regarding these topics.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sample design For the purpose of our market research, we used a nonprobability sampling. We focused on people who, at least, sometimes buy online. We used a convenience sample, which means that we asked people who were available when and where we collected our data. Our sample was conducted among 100 150 respondents with Dutch, Belgian, French and Spanish nationalities. This should be enough in order to get some insight of the interest of the customers for the project and derive some relevant results from it. 5. Research questions, hypothesis and data analysis I. Extremely defined gender roles confined women to the domestic sphere, where they had very little economic, legal, or political rights. Femalesexuality, particularly among upper society, was highly regulated to ensure chastity before marriage and the legitimacy of heirs during a marriage. An excellent example of the Madonna/whore complex in Renaissance art is Carlo da Camerino s altarpiece, The Madonna of Humility with the Temptation of Eve. In the altarpiece, the Mary sits with Christ and is depicted as humble and virtuous, an idealized woman to demonstrate the role of women in the Church. The Human Race s Progression Essay As the world progresses in different ways concerning technology, resources, and more, most people question if the human race s evolution and the world s progression is acting in an inverse relationship. As the world becomes more advanced and fast paced most people never have a chance to catch up with the ever lasting progression. In order to stay on top of things, more and more people decide to indulge in a technique known to many as multi tasking . Multi tasking is the act of taking on more than one activity at once with the mindset of accomplishing both around the same time. Although multi tasking might allow you to finish things more quickly, the end product for the things will not be up to par compared to the idea if you had worked separately on the tasks. Multi tasking not only hinders the end product of the work but it also hinders our brain, and our processing methods. Attempting to balance numerous things will push your brain to the limits, and hurt its progress in the long run rather than improve it. Multi tasking is the epitome of working to no end we will keep working, but there will be no end due to the effects it has on the mind. Multi tasking in today s time is now effecting todays generation more harshly than ever before. The effects of multi tasking are prevalent in their school work. Multi tasking is effecting the outcomes of tests, homeworks, and how fast students process things in the school environment. It s effecting students socially, academically

Eventually, railroads were built that connected the Western states and the East.( American ). Throughout the West, many towns began to flourish in population due to the attraction of mines. I would define innovation as the ability to apply this creative thinking to an existing product, solution or approach that improves the outcome of a solution to a problem or usefulness of a product. Innovation is the ability to put creative thoughts to use in a way that is beneficial to a person, product, object, problem or situation. . Design is defined by Webster as to create, fashion, execute, or construct according to plan; to conceive and plan out in the mind; to have as a purpose; to devise for a specific function or end; to conceive or execute a plan; or to draw, lay out, or prepare a design. And on the top of all this, he will probably never get permission to work as a homicide detective again. In other words, his life is practically ruined and it will never be the same again after this day. Detective Mills is one of the heroes in the movie and a person whom the audience sympathize with. So because it is a really tragical ending for him, the audience would probably also think that it is an unhappy ending. Above all, David Mills position as a hero is weakened because he is not able to resist the temptation to kill. Mills chooses the easiest solution by shooting John Doe. In a situation like this, it might be easier to shoot John Doe, than to defeat the temptation and do the right thing. It is human to search for justice and when someone has really hurt you it takes a lot of strength not to hurt them back. Because David Mills would have shown more strength by laying down the gun and also ruin John Doe s masterpiece, this murder weakened his position as a hero. As I have mentioned earlier, David Mills is considered as one of the heroes. His job is to solve criminal puzzles and he represents safety in the community. Consequently most people expect him to do the right thing. So when he chooses the easiest solution and becomes a murderer, it is probably also a disappointment for the audience. Gender is what culture makes out of the raw material of biological sex, (Unger and Crawford, 1995). Also, there is a difference between what is gender identity and what is a gender role; a difference which seems to be even more difficult to differentiate between than the words gender and sex . In the film, Buffy is a strong, demon fighting woman, taking on opponents who only she can do any damage to; whereas the men in her life (Pike and Merrick) must stand back or they might be hurt. But upon speaking, Buffy practically epitomized the reason for every dumb blond female joke. She did not understand big words, and spoke in the true stereotypical California girl manner, using the like after almost every other word. She seemed like an airhead, and up until she truly understood what her destiny was, she spoke and acted like one. But the film version was meant to be a flaky comedy , while the television series is many times referred to being a dramedy (it is considered a drama, in this case, a science fiction/action drama, with a bit of comedy to keep it light .) In the television series, although Buffy still speaks in slang and still appears to be the reason a dumb blond joke was ever invented, her vocabulary has become much more mature and clear. She is more in control of what is happening, or has happened to her, and is beginning to harness herself as her own person, her own identity. She is not acting, or trying to be a certain type of person because everyone is telling her that that is who she is. Instead she is taking her identity and molding it; shaping it

The Effect Of Sensitivity Of Sub Surface Fatigue Cracks During Service Stage Of Gears R.Vyjayanthi ,Dr.B.Venkatesh Department of mechanical engineering Vardhaman College of engineering India, Hyderabad, 500070 Vyjayanthi8@Gmail.Com Abstract Gears are one of the most critical components in mechanical power transmission systems. Gear failures occur due to defect formation during manufacturing and service stage of gear .Mostly failures during service stage of gear show major effect on the component. Development in technology evaluated a new technique of inspection called Non destructive testing technique to detect and characterize such defects and anomalies in the component, and also ensuring pre service quality and monitoring in service degradation to avoid pre mature failure of the component. In this paper sub surface fatigue crack that occur most commonly during service stage, ultrasonic inspection for finding sensitivity of crack in gears and its effects on life of gear during service stage is discussed. Keywords sub surface fatigue crack; ultrasonic inspection; Sensitivity of flaw;effects. Not many people realize the impact that music has on our feelings, especially in movies. The soundtracks give movie s life and their implementation is key to the success of a movie. If music was removed from films, the experience would be lacking for the viewers because music develops a mood, keeps the audience focused, and connects to the story directly. Music featured in movies develops a unique atmosphere for the spectator. After a study on music s effects on the brain, scientists concluded, Music is linked to the region of the brain that deals with euphoric stimuli. The blood flow in the brain is associated with reward, emotion and arousal (Helen). The music is literally affecting the brain which is causing the person to feel the mood more vividly and realistically. The music acts as a tool to make the audience feel like they are in the movie. Near the end of the story, Jane travels to their personal quarters and thinks about presence. I know where I came from but where did all you zombies come from?... You Aren t really there at all. There isn t anybody but me jane here alone in the dark, knowing that their life is based off a paradox, Jane starts to wonder how everything else is out there before stating that there is only Jane. This way of thinking is Solipsism, the idea that the mind is the only thing that can be known to exist and anything outside the mind is unwarranted. This is a motivation for Jane to continue to replay the paradox over and over again, because Jane is everything. Jane is every person, Jane is the reason behind everything and Jane is the
