This document provides information about irregular verb stems in the future tense in Spanish. It lists several common verbs that have irregular stems in the future, including hacer, decir, tener, poner, venir, salir, oir, and traer. For each verb, it provides the irregular future stem, a conjugated example for each subject pronoun (yo, tú, él/ella, etc.), and a brief explanation of how to form the future tense for that particular verb. It also includes a practice activity for students to complete using the future tense forms of these verbs.

1. Yo –go verbs in the FUTURE tense
These verbs have irregular STEMS* in
the future tense.
(*STEM = the part of the verb that is left when you
drop –AR/-ER/-IR)

2. HACER = WILL DO/WILL MAKE - Irregular FUTURE stem = HAR-
Yo – haré I will do/make Nosotros – haremos we will do/make
Tú – harás you will do/make Vosotros – haréis y’all will do/make

Ella –hará she will do/make Ellas –harán they(f) will
Ud. You will do/make do/make
Uds. You all will do/make
Notice that the FUTURE endings are always the same! 
DECIR = WILL SAY/TELL - Irregular FUTURE stem = DIR-
Yo – diré I will say/tell Nosotros – diremos we will say/tell
Tú – dirás you will say/tell Vosotros – diréis y’all will say/tell
Él he will say/tell Ellos they will say/tell
Ella –dirá she will say/tell Ellas –dirán they(f) will say/tell
Ud. You will say/tell Uds. You all will say/tell
Both of these verbs have a C in the original STEM that drops in the future.

3. TENER = WILL HAVE - Irregular FUTURE stem = TENDR-
Yo – tendré I will have Nosotros – tendremos we will have
Tú – tendrás you will have Vosotros – tendréis y’all will have
Él he will have Ellos they will have
Ella –tendrá she will have Ellas –tendrán they(f) will have
Ud. You will have Uds. You all will have
For these verbs, change the –ER to –DR and then add the FUTURE endings.
PONER = WILL PUT - Irregular FUTUREstem = PONDR-
Yo – pondré I will put Nosotros – pondremos we will put
Tú – pondrás you will put Vosotros – pondréis y’all will put
Él he will put Ellos they will put
Ella –pondrá she will put Ellas –pondrán they(f) will put
Ud. You will put Uds. You all will put

4. VENIR = WILL COME - Irregular FUTURE stem = VENDR-
Yo – vendré I will come Nosotros – vendremos we will come
Tú – vendrás you will come Vosotros – vendréis y’all will come
Él he will come Ellos they will come
Ella –vendrá she will come Ellas –vendrán they(f) will come
Ud. You will come Uds. You all will come
For these verbs, change the –IR to –DR and then add the FUTURE endings.
SALIR = WILL LEAVE - Irregular FUTURE stem = SALDR-
Yo – saldré I will leave Nosotros – saldremos we will leave
Tú – saldrás you will leave Vosotros – saldréis y’all will leave
Él he will leave Ellos they will leave
Ella –saldrá she will leave Ellas –saldrán they(f) will leave
Ud. You will leave Uds. You all will leave

5. OÍR = WILL HEAR - FUTURE stem = OIR (DROP ACCENT)
Yo – oiré I will hear Nosotros – oiremos we will hear
Tú – oirás you will hear Vosotros – oiréis y’all will hear
Él he will hear Ellos they will hear
Ella –oirá she will hear Ellas –oirán they(f) will hear
Ud. You will hear Uds. You all will hear
Just drops the accent mark from the I in OÍR for FUTURE tense! 
TRAER = WILL BRING FUTURE TENSE
Yo –traeré I will bring Nosotros – traeremos we will bring
Tú – traerás you will bring Vosotros – traeréis y’all will bring
Él he will bring Ellos they will bring
Ella –traerá she will bring Ellas –traerán they(f) will bring
Ud. You will bring Uds. You all will bring
TRAER is REGULAR in the FUTURE tense. Just add the endings to TRAER.

Complete with the correct form of the verb in the FUTURE.
1.Este fin de semana, yo ____(tener) diecisiete años.
2.Mis amigos _____(venir) a mi casa a las siete para celebrar mi
cumpleaños.
3.Yo ____(traer) unos refrescos a la fiesta.
4.Paco ____(hacer) unos sandwiches para la fiesta.
