Cameron Research Paper
On a cold December night in 2000, a beautiful, bouncing baby boy came into this world crying and
screaming. Cameron Mauller was born on December 3, and he is the fourth child to the proud parents
of Jeffery and Jenny Mauller. Cameron has one brothers and two sister. Being only fifteen years old,
Cameron is hoping his life is going to be full of excitement.
As a toddler, Cameron was a trouble makers and still is today. Cameron learned how to walk and talk.
That mouth got him in trouble, he loved to argue. Cameron s mother asked him to pick up his toys and
Cameron smartly said Then if you want the toys up, then you can pick them up. Cameron would
always get a spanking for his month. Well Cameron was walking inside his house and thought the bee

From kindergarten through sixth grade, Cameron went to Helmwood Heights, near Indianapolis. But
in that six years Cameron failed second grade, he had to take the class again. At Helmwood Heights
Cameron made millions of friends, and he still misses them badly. The one thing Cameron did not
miss about Helmwood Heights that Cameron felt that the teachers did not help him in anyway.
Seventh grade year Cameron moved to Croydon, Indiana, because his father found a better paying job.
Jeffery saw that Cameron was getting into trouble, by eighth grade Jeffery moved Cameron down to

Tax Evasion Paper
The Extended Arm of the United States Government in its Battle against Tax Evaders
Professor: Kenneth Lavery
Submitted By: Deanne Patterson
Week 6: July 31, 2011
Taxes are a major contributor of the American economy. The tax system in the United States depends
on voluntary compliance, which means that each citizen is responsible for filing a tax return when
required and for determining and paying the correct amount of tax . (Albrect, Albrect, Albrect Albrect
and Zimbelman). When individuals under report, exaggerate deductions, and hide money in off shore
accounts, this is clearly misrepresentation of their income to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and is
deemed tax evasion. The term tax evasion is defined as using illegal ... Show more content on

The Interpretation of the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States continues to
present many arguments as to the legality of income taxes in America and Globally. This student
believes that the interpretation of the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States
continues to present many arguments concerning the legality of the American income tax system.
When the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution was ratified (February 3, 1913) giving Congress
the power to lay and collect taxes on incomes , citizens began arguing that it was not properly ratified
and income taxes are illegal. Citizens continue to raise such arguments in spite of the fact that they
have no basis in law and the courts have repeatedly rejected their arguments as frivolous. Promoters
and their followers have long employed frivolous arguments concerning the legality of the income tax
as pretexts to enrich themselves or evade their taxes. Their motivation is usually monetary. Anti
taxation groups used different arguments to gain followers, they all share one thing in common; they
received substantial sentences in a federal prison for their activities. Their followers paid a steep price
for following bad advice. Some were prosecuted, many more were involved in years of litigation and
ultimately had to pay all taxes owed along with penalties and

Multiple Sclerosis Research
In adult patients suffering from Multiple Sclerosis (MS), research has been done to show that in the
brain, deep grey matter atrophy (damage or lesions) is measurable even within the first few years after
the first attack. The neurodegenerative aspect of Multiple Sclerosis is crippling not only to the central
nervous system, but to important brain substructures like the thalamus, putamen, caudate, and globus
pallidus (a major part of the basal ganglia) and could lead to a hindering of brain growth in the brains
of adolescents who are in critical stages of development. Researchers on behalf of the Canadian
Pediatric Demyelinating Disease Network teamed together to study just that, the impact of pediatric
onset multiple sclerosis on age expected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The research also confirms that females have higher thalamic volumes relative to brain size which
could explain why females are more susceptible to the disease. The thalamus, researchers believe, is

earliest and most prominent signed of subcortical grey matter pathology, even evident at the time of

Sam Esmail s Mr. Robot
Mr. Robot is a television show created by Sam Esmail that originally released in June of 2015. It is by
far one of the most thrilling and entertaining shows whose primary subject is hacking and
cybersecurity. Every actor in the show lends a tremendous amount of talent, but the one who I believe
defines the show is its star, Rami Malek. Rami is capable of delivering a performance that gets
viewers hooked immediately. The audience is able to understand everything that motivate Rami s
character, Elliot, just from the pilot episode. The episode I am choosing to focus on is season 1

Final Project Milestone 1: Introduction, Organizational Issues at the
Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant
My review of the Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant: Motivating in Good Times and Bad case study allows
me to identify certain organizational issues within the company.
There is an older incentive (Scanlon) plan put in place which worked very well for this company and
its employees, helping them to rise up from an unproductive state in the 1990 s. Now that it has been
in place for quite some time, it is getting stale. No bonuses have been given in months. The employees
are not satisfied with the management of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
* Collegial a type of supportive model a body of people working collectively, embodying a team
concept.
* System the result of a strong search for a higher meaning at work by many of today s employees.
They want more than just a paycheck and job security from their jobs.
(Newstrom, 2014, p. 39)
I also agree that management has to be able to change and grow and continue to listen to any upward
communication from the staff. In order to accomplish better communication, management should
provide an open door policy and also informal meetings where employees can either feel free to go to
their supervisors first with any questions or concerns and also raise issues with resources or basically
anything that interferes with their job performance (Newstrom, 2014, p. 70).
I believe that it is also important to support an organization culture including some key values
including the following: integrity, great customer service, unity, respect and compassion and
excellence. (Newstrom, 2014, p. 100).
Lastly, I think that having a fun place to work creates motivated individuals who will have an
increased job satisfaction. A fun workplace doesn t have to be an oxymoron. Anyone can choose to
create a fun workplace. Both qualitative and quantitative data exist to support our belief that a fun
work environment can have a positive impact on productivity, quality,

The Electric Vehicle Essay
The Electric Vehicle
The technology of electric vehicles has been around since the turn of the nineteenth century but faded
as the gasoline powered engine took the spotlight. Now the future of electric vehicles is very bright.
Their impacts are very significant ranging from economic, to new technology that can be applied
elsewhere, to most importantly, the environment. Ford and GM, through its Saturn plant, have already
begun production on their own version of the electric vehicle and have made them available to the
public. In 1998 California plans to have one percent of its major auto makers sell electric vehicles and
other states have looked into the same possibility, mainly Massachusetts and New York. Imagine
driving a quieter, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mandate is set to take effect in 1998 in California and as many as five other states have
considered adopting the ZEV mandate for themselves, with New York already mandating the policy.
Several auto makers have filed suit against the ZEV mandate, but the latest rulings have gone against
the auto makers.
In 1989, Los Angeles City Council member Marvin Braude issued a worldwide bid for 10,000 electric
vehicles to be delivered to southern California in the mid 1990 s (Sperling 1995). The bid was met
with major skepticism from major automotive companies about the market for the electric vehicles,
and the bid was granted to Clean Air Transport, an Anglo Swedish company with a small number of
employees. The company spent millions to build a hybrid electric gasoline car but could not get any
funding to begin manufacturing. As a result, the company simply disappeared in the early nineties, but
it did not matter because by this time the major auto makers had taken interest.
Elsewhere in the world, many other countries were also experimenting with electric vehicles. British
manufacturers never stopped producing these vehicles and had turned out several thousand electric
milk delivery trucks a year. By 1990 it was estimated that 33,000 of these were on England s roads. In
Japan, major auto makers had indulged themselves in the development of the electric vehicle during
the 1970 s, but backed off their efforts in the 1980 s only after they had built a small

The Carson Show
One of the greatest talk shows of all time, The Tonight show has been entertaining Americans for
more than 60 years. The show, produced by NBC Productions, first hit the air under the name Tonight
in 1954. The show then settled on the name The Tonight Show in 1962. Among the name change there
were many additional changes that have taken place in the shows running. The show originally had
two openings, one for a news affiliate that began at 11:15 p.m. EST and another for those viewers who
joined in at 11:30. In 1965, then host Johnny Carson refused to appear until 11:30, thus the show s
start time changed to 11:30 p.m. EST. This was not the only time that the shows aired time had
changed, in fact the aired time as well as length time changed multiple times throughout the shows
running. A few additional impactful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each host brought a unique flare to the show, however there are four hosts; Jonny Carson, Jay Leno,
Conan O Brien and Jimmy Fallon, that gave the show its superior qualities, making it the longest
airing talk show of all time. Carson who hosted the show from 1962 to1992 is the longest serving host
to date. He was the Gold Standard of hosts. He exemplified charisma and depth. He could do political
and social commentary, comedy skits and handle all kinds of interviews from the serious to the silly.
Carson served as the role model for all other American talk show hosts who followed him. Leno who
hosted the show from 1992 to 2009 replaced Carson after he retired. The format of the show remained
largely unchanged, consisting primarily of an opening humorous monologue, followed by several
celebrity interviews, comedy sketches and musical numbers. Though I don t feel Leno was as comical
as Carson and his interview skill were lacking, he had an aura that drew people in. This likability is
what causes him to receive a second tenure from 2010 to 2014, after O Brien left the network due to

This essay will be exploring the psychosocial influences on a 68 year old lady called Susan Smith s
perception to her health, along with her response to illness. To do this we must look at a definition of
both psychology and sociology and discuss any possible effects these have had on Susan s perception
of health issues. Also this essay will be looking at any influences such as education, in relation to a
female of Susan s age and background, and discuss whether these issues have affected Susan s health
and her responses to illness.

Another factor affecting peoples perception could be their locus of control, Rotter (1954) made
distinctions between beliefs of people with an internal and an external locus of control: people who
are said to be internal are thought to believe that their own actions can change the outcome of
situations, making these situations under personal control, however externals are seen generally to
believe that the outcome is beyond their personal control, believing that their actions are unrelated to
the events. Therefore if someone has an internal locus of control they believe that they have a
significant say in how their lives are run, whereas a person with an external locus of control believes
that fate has already decided upon the events of their lives. Niven (2000) suggests that people who
have an internal locus of control may be more highly motivated to take action concerning their health;
however they are less likely to adhere to medical advice. This may be due to the fact that internals feel
that they have a choice and say in the outcomes of their health and can decide not to adhere when it is
appropriate. For example in Susan s case when she spoke about having a bilateral total knee
replacement, she said that when the doctor had advised having

Summary Of The Stranger By Albert Camus
My silent sustained reading book is The Stranger written by Albert Camus. It was first published by
Hamish Hamilton in 1946. Even though the story was written eight decades ago, the message Camus
was trying to convey is still pliable to current day.
The novel starts off with the narrator, Guy Meursault, just receiving news of his mother s passing and
her funeral that takes place the following day. Meursault shows no signs of remorse over losing his
own mother and even refuses to look at his own mother s body. Once the funeral was over the narrator
meets up with his former employee, who he takes to see a comedy movie and starts a relationship with
her. In the following days, Meursault assists his neighbor Raymond Sintès in exacting ... Show more

The story s protagonist is Guy Meursault, a Frenchman in his late thirties. While the protagonist is a
man, the antagonist is society itself. Society is the one who finds Meursault guilty, just because he
cannot grasp its composition. He finds it difficult to comprehend his own actions as wrong due to his
own logic of society. While the story takes place in Algeria, which is a country in North Africa, it feels
as if it could have taken place anywhere. In spite of the topic of the story, which is concerning death,
the tone of Camus writing makes it seem as if the narrator is uncaring and indifferent to the topic.
Throughout his mother s death and his neighbor s cruel acts Meursault doesn t feel anything about
these things; the author makes it appear that the protagonist is heartless and cold. The narrator seems
to have no reason not to believe Sintès story about his girlfriend and even helps him emotionally and
physically hurt her.
The point of view in the book is first person, which allows the audience to understand Meursault s
thoughts and opinions. We are able to hear that he feels no remorse for any of this actions and even
thinks of death as something trivial for it is part of everyday life. I feel that if the story wasn t in first
person the story would not be renown as a classic. For without the narrator s perspective Camus book
would not be known for describing the human condition. The central

The For A Future Dream
Leave your home, your loved ones, your security, and your refuge. Leave it all behind, begin a life of
constant threat and survival a continuous battle of severe weather and starvation for a hope and a
desired promise of a new beginning, a new foundation, and pursuing your faith freely. Would you ever
pursue this? Would you leave everything for a future dream? At first, some of us might answer yes,
right away, but Can we, or would we, ever put our words and our thoughts to the test? Would we
survive, just to keep our lives? Would we endure the weather for a promise? When the separatists
faced persecution for their faith, rejection from church, work and, for some, family, they were
considered treasonous and dangerous, and they faced imprisonment. They decided it was time to let go
and lose everything for a glimpse of new hope. Desiring freedom, a new life, a new home, as well as,
bringing and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who had never heard it before, in 1620, the
separatists let go, losing everything, all for a glimpse of new hope. Through unforgiving weather and
sickness and through the survival for their lives, many would sacrifice their lives, for the anticipative
promise of a new foundation and independence. Shielded with God s provision and guidance and
fueled and directed by the leadership of the journey elders seeing the promise in light ahead, they

Factors That Affect The Growth And Germination Rates Were...
Plants are an essential part of survival for humans and animals and contribute significantly to various
areas of the lives of organisms. In order to better understand the different plants and its requirements
the growth and germination rates were investigated. The hypothesis stated that if the dicotolydeons
and monocotyledons are placed in the same environment and watered regularly, then the dicotyledons
will have a faster growth and germination rate.
In order for plants to survive, it is a necessity for the process of photosynthesis to occur.
Photosynthesis is the process wherein plants create oxygen and food for themselves (glucose) using
carbon dioxide, water and energy from the sun. Once this process is completed, plants are able to grow
using the nutrients provided by photosynthesis.
Word equation: carbon dioxide + water (SUNLIGHT AND CHLORYPHYLL) glucose + oxygen
There are many factors that affect photosynthesis such as light availability, carbon dioxide
concentration and temperature. Light is a limiting factor as if there is not enough light available, the
rate of photosynthesis will decrease. This is because without the light, the chlorophyll (not be created)
will be unable to absorb energy from the sun, resulting in no food which is required for survival.
Temperature plays an essential role in photosynthesis as well. As the temperature increases, so does
the rate of photosynthesis. As it is a chemical reaction, an increase in temperature will cause enzymes

Asian Americans And Asian American Actors
Since the first half of the 19th century, Asian Americans have been involved in the media industry
when the original Siamese Twins Chang and Eng Bunker became naturalized citizens of America.
Roles in television and other media were scarce for Asian Americans, only available roles were very
stereotypical. Early Asian American actors such as Bruce Lee and Sessue Hayakawa could only land
stereotypical supporting roles in prime time television. While minority actors have progress through
the years, Asian Americans in the media remains an issue. The misrepresentation of Asians Americans
that continues the tendency of stereotypes and type casting. To this day, Asians Americans take on
roles that tends to portray the stereotypical roles. Asian Americans becomes easily targeted and
exploited from such representation. Model Minority Stereotype is consistently express through
advertising and primetime television; Asians being nerdy: having type casted into professional roles
ignoring real values and cultures, Asian women: seen as hypersexual, erotic, cunning and dangerous,
Asian men: dangerous, unfriendly, master of martial arts, undesirable male partners and weak. Media
representation of Asian Americans in America s media history, continue to influence and reproduce
dominant Americentric impressions, rather than the true authentic depiction of Asian American culture
and behavior. Americentric stereotypes of Asian American women and men has led to limited roles of

seeing an increase in young people with mental health issues today than ever before. My wife worked

Social Relations And Gender Roles
Every one of us have been influenced in one way or another by social relations to gender roles. All
human cultures have various expectations regarding the male or female gender. There are many
standards that dictate how individuals should dress, think, behave, and interact with the world around
them. It is when these roles begin to reduce the life chances of individuals and preserve inequality that
becomes problematic. Humans, as a society, crafted their own definitions of what it means to be a man
or a woman. Because of this if a female partakes in a masculine activity it is often met with disgust
and hostility and if a male partakes in a feminine activity it is scorned by men and women alike.
Gender norms have existed throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If she is African American, it is sixty four cents for every dollar earned by a man and fifty four cents if
she is Latina. Throughout a lifetime, a typical woman loses about $700,000 just because she is paid
less than a man. (now national, 2017) No one should be discriminated against in the workplace
because of his or her own gender. It is shocking that even fifty three years later women are still having
this fight for equal pay. Equal pay means economic growth for the nation. If women were making
more, the additional money flowing towards food, clothing, household items and services this would
expand the economy by at least three or four percentages. This would also strengthen the middle class
as well. If women were to be paid a fair share, more families can join the middle class and have a
chance at economic security. Women can hold the responsibility that jobs require. Some women
acquired their degree, attended a university or college and became an expert in their career and
performs the job just as well, if not better, than a male, then they absolutely should be paid equal
salaries. Women who work full time earn seventy seven percent of what a male earns. Why should
women have to work an extra sixty days (three months) to earn what the man did by the end of his
previous year? This is highly degrading of the morals of women all over America and the world. This
sends a message saying that no matter how hard you can work as a female you will never equal

How Was Canada West Formed
Canada West
By Eric H, Eric W and Rachel N.
How was Canada West formed?
Originally, there was no Canada West until February, 1841, when the Act of Union was proclaimed.
The Act of Union was suggested by Lord Durham, a wealthy politician who was sent to investigate the
troubles in Lower and Upper Canada (Lower Canada became Canada East, Upper Canada became
Canada West). The Canadas had various uprisings concerning the fact that they wanted a Responsible
Government. When Lord Durham got back to Britain, he gave the famous Durham Report. He said
that the Canadas should be granted a responsible government, and that they should be unified into one.

in the year of 1903 and with the a series of geographic, environmental and logistical challenges that
the workers had to overcome to complete this project which would become the main driver of

The Colorado River passes through Rocky Mountains carrying water to Colorado, and to the states of
Los Angeles and Arizona. Thanks to new technologies of irrigation agriculture progress in a very
unpredictable and unexpected way. The advance of agriculture not only brought a lot of benefits to
farmers, progress was so great that agriculture created jobs outside the farmer sector , in sectors such
as goods and services. Many Yuma jobs were created by agriculture, which brought much progress
and income for the city.Agribusiness had a direct effect with 16,428 jobs, an indirect effect with 1,196,
and an induced effect with 3,120 jobs. It can be seen that the Yuma project affected a very big number
of people. After it was seen that in Yuma there was a good land for crops, many people decide to
move, this caused a massive move towards Yuma with a great impact on the population. The impact of
the population was so big that in other parts of the state were left with only 5,000 people. In the year

Hunter Avery s Short Story
Everyone in the conference room knew that there had been several very wealthy and extremely
gorgeous women trying to say they have some type of relationship with the actor Hunter Avery. There
were also numerous restraining orders being filled by the truck load each week because of his
delusional fan base. However, what has sparked my curiosity is the fact that no one knows the name of
the woman who he was actually dating or if there was only one. It wasn t until now that there was
proof that there is someone in the background. By the looks in some of the people in the conference
room eyes, they had doubts I had something. I changed those opinions in an instant when I announced
that there has been one name placed on the list for tonight s black tie charity dinner ... Show more

wanting to deny all involvement, I was sure they would be the last in line to stop me. My editor
looked excited, the owner looked thrilled, but everyone else in the room looked as if they had just left
a brown steaming bundle in their shorts. I continued by saying that wouldn t it be the perfect surprise
to be the first to report that Hunter Avery and this Good Samaritan date of his were in fact dating in
secretly? I would blame the two of them to keep their relationship out of the public eye with all the
crazed fans he has. For me it made perfect sense to do so. Now wouldn t it be an even bigger surprise
if Hunter Avery had kept this little secret from his friend Paulette

Hanford High School Transcripts Analysis
Transcripts
In my high school career my grades have been of great importance to me both at Lemoore High
School and Hanford High School. My whole freshman year I was able to maintain a 4.0. My
sophomore year I did have a little bit of a downfall with my grades but I was put in home studies so
that I could solely focus on my schoolwork and once I was focused again I went back to Hanford
High. My junior year I came to LHS and my grades improved, I ended that year with 6 A s and 1 C.
As of right now I am ending my senior year with a 3.84 GPA which I am very satisfied with. Overall I
am proud of the grades I have kept throughout these four years and I will strive to maintain a high
academic standing as I further my education in college.

Descriptive Essay About Restaurant
Amazing restaurants are few and far in between. It seems as if there is always something negative that
could be said about even the best restaurants in the country, not even one is entirely perfect. It s
incredibly hard to find a great restaurant that has attentive servers, high quality food served in a timely
manner, a friendly atmosphere, and overall cleanliness. Incredibly, I have found an impeccable
restaurant that not only meets all of the criteria listed above, it exceeds them. Uno s Pizzeria Grill in
Dayton Ohio has absolutely amazed me with unbeatable service, food, and much more every time I
have dined with them. On my way to one of the performances at the Schuster Center in Dayton, my
family and I decided to by a pizzeria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As soon as we were seated I noticed just how clean the entire restaurant was even though it was
incredibly packed. Due to the fact that the show we planned on attending started soon, we informed
our waiter that we were in quite a big hurry. We ordered our drinks and appetizers and I headed off to
the restroom to wash my hands before the food arrived. The restroom was just as pristine as the rest of
the restaurant, there were no giant globs of soap all over the counter, they had high energy efficient
hand dryers, and all toiletries were stocked. Even the mirrors were spotless! It s often said that you can
judge the cleanliness of a restaurant s kitchen by the cleanliness of the restrooms. With the
spotlessness of this restroom, I wasn t the least bit worried about the cleanliness of the kitchen.
I returned back to the table not even five minutes later and our drinks, as well as our appetizers were
served! I couldn t believe how fast it came. We ordered spinach artichoke dip that was served in a
bread bowl. I d highly recommend this appetizer, it was truthfully life changing. As we enjoyed our
appetizer our waiter frequently returned to our table and conversed with us, as well as to check on the
quality of our food and get our orders for the main dish. He was very attentive and very considerate of
our time limitations, I was extremely impressed with him. The menu had a wide variety of options

Internal Auditing And External Auditing Industry Essay
In the last decade, the world of business has been subjected to significant changes. Globalization has
given a new meaning to the way in which business is now conducted; i.e. business in a world devoid
of geographical boundaries or time zones. Global expansion has also given rise to many emerging
firms and laid the foundations for fierce competition amongst existing industries. Internal auditing is
no exception. In order not to face complacency or obsolescence, the internal auditing industry has to
be proactive and adapt to changing market trends.
Indeed, the possibilities available to internal auditing in our current global economic climate are
limitless. Nevertheless, for the auditing industry to remain successful in today s fast paced world, it
has exploit every resource and turn it into a profitable venture. For instance, one of the driving forces
of globalization is the increased use of technology in all kinds of business and trade activities. E
business is one of the most common and elaborate business solutions for a variety of firms, ranging
from architecture to retailing, amongst others. Many organizations are sometimes reluctant to using
technology to expand business since they may be struggling to keep up with the accelerated pace of
operations. Thus, it is an opportunity for internal auditors to step in and guide them as they explore
other business horizons. What is required for the audit industry to thrive in such an environment is a

Pneumoniosis
Several studies that go hand and hand with Pneumoconiosis Berylliosis is uncommon, that is affecting
workers, in the aerospace, nuclear, telecommunications, semi conductor and electrical industries. It
has been recognized as a cause of occupational lung disease since the 1940s and can cause an allergic
immune response (beryllium sensitization), acute beryllium disease (similar to acute pneumonitis) and
chronic beryllium disease (a granulomatous lung disease with symptoms similar to sarcoidosis)
(Patient plus). Historically, black miners have been evident to show higher dust levels than were white

Eliminating silicosis is a priority of the International Labour Organization and the World Health
Organization (Environmental health). As miners continue to age and work for longer periods, the
burden of Pneumoconiosis will continue to increase, prevalence is particularly high in emerging
countries. The crude proportion of silicosis for white miners was six times that of black miners in
1975. By 2007, it was 1.5 times higher for black miners. The proportion of miners with
Pneumoconiosis increased from 0.03 to 0.32 for black miners and from 0.18 to 0.22 for white miners.
Pneumoconiosis is also a prescribed industrial disease. Financial compensation may be available
where an individual is able to show they worked in a job for which their disease is prescribed and that
their illness is likely due to the occupational exposure in modern times (Patient plus). The most
commonly occurring variant, apart from asbestosis, is coal worker s pneumoconiosis (CWP), arising
from the inhalation of coal dust. There is generally a long time lag between exposure and onset of the
disease10 years in the case of coal dust and 15 60 years with asbestos hence, newest cases or deaths
from pneumoconiosis reflect the working conditions of the past (Patient plus). The increase can be
explained by increasing age and employment duration for white miners. For black miners, it can be
only partly explained by these two factors (Environmental Health). Coal miner s as well as many other
minors, were defined as those who had ever been employed in the mining industry. The study
population comprised all miners who had been employed for 1 year and who died from an external
cause of death. External causes of death included those coded in the International Classification of
Diseases (WHO 1992) as injuries (e.g., as a result of mine or traffic

Footsteps in the hall got louder and louder, as I started to speed walk. My heart was pounding faster
and faster with every second. Once I turned around, there was a girl who was a few feet behind me,
looking straight at me with her piercing eyes. Then, I turned back around and continued in the
direction I was headed. As I was close to approaching my classroom, I turned around one more time
and the girl disappeared in plain sight. For a second, I wondered if she was really following me or was
it my imagination. I believe that I get worried over the slightest things, maybe not exactly like William

Minor was able to focus well, especially when it came to working on the dictionary project. When
William Chester Minor began his hunt for words to go in the dictionary, he would always take note of
words that interested him. Minor would arrange his written list of words in alphabetical order.
Winchester represents William Chester Minor s organization when Minor s placement was precise,
and it was carefully chosen. The reason for this was Minor s certainty that sooner or later he would
find another interesting word beginning with the same letter, b; that there was a very good chance it
would be put before buffoon and only a very much slimmer chance that it would need to be put after
(139). William Chester Minor s work ethic made it so much easier for the Oxford editors because they
wouldn t have to alphabetize the words, since Minor already did it for them. With each word William
Chester Minor found, it felt like he started the dictionary project all over again. Minor had the same
interest and the same enthusiasm as he did when he first started this project. As a result of William
Chester Minor s extreme interest in this project, he was able to stay up to speed with the dictionary s
progress. Minor was also able to generate many word lists and send these to the Oxford editors on
time. Simon Winchester displays William Chester Minor s

Critical Critique Of The Liars

Important Writing Critique In this article DePaulo and her fellow researchers try to answer the
question Do people behave differently when they are lying compared with when they are telling the
truth? They went ahead and combined results of 1,338 estimates and found 158 cues to deception were
reported in the study. The results showed that in some ways, the people that were lying were less
forthcoming than the truth tellers. The liars also told less compelling tales when asked to explain their
reasoning. Cues were also more visible when people were motivated to succeed, especially when the
motivations were about themselves rather than money or materialistic objects. This study had also
been approached 40 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other researcher also went on to explain the specifics of deception as the subject broadened.
Zuckerman in 1981 found that liars might also be experiencing a greater sense of arousal than the truth
tellers. This was noted by the liars having greater pupil dilation, more frequent speech, increased
blinking, as well as a high pitched voice. In 1985 Ekman wrote an article explaining the role of
emotions that are involved in deception. When Ekman was able to understand the emotions the liars
were experiencing, Ekman stated that it s possible to predict the behaviors of a liar that differ from
truth tellers. He gave an example by showing that the cues that involve fear like speech errors, faster
and louder speech, and high pitch gave a greater chance of a liar being pointed out. Ekman also found
that liars who felt guilt lying to someone they could trust showed certain behavioral indicators of guilt.
In De Paulo s study she explains that one of the main reasons that it is more difficult to lie than to tell
the truth is because when someone is lying they have to fabricate a new and never experienced
situation so the probability of error goes way up compared to when someone is telling the truth all
they have to do is simply tell the story as is. Liars are also more likely to fail when they know less
about their target or the target knows more about the subject at

Us Navy Chief Pinning Ceremony
US Navy Chief Pinning Ceremony
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines tradition as a way of thinking, behaving, or doing something
that has been used by the people in a particular group, family, society, etc., for a long time (2011). The
Navy is full of formal traditions such as saluting honors to the flag or senior personnel. One such
tradition is the Chief s Pinning Ceremony. The Chief s Pinning Ceremony is a formal tradition, the
first ceremony taken place on September 16, 1960. In 1959 the collar device of an golden fouled
anchor was the emblem of a Chief in the Navy. This anchor distinguish the Chiefs the junior enlisted
Sailors(Leuci 2015). The following year on September 16, 1960 the first Chief Pinning Ceremony
took place starting a long lasting tradition in the United States Navy.
The Navy is uniquely different from the other armed forces when promoting E 6 to E 7. In the Army,
Air Force and the Marines Corps, an E 6 is advance to E 7. In the. Eligibility does not guarantee
advancement. Every First Class Petty Officer, E 6, eligible for advance to Chief, E 7, undergoes a
massive selection and ranking board. Board members consist of Master Chiefs, E 9, the highest
enlisted rank, who hand select which of the eligible First Class Petty Officers will be advance to
Chief. According to the Navy Times each year 3,811 to 4,352 Sailors are eligibly for advancement to
Chief. However only 15% of those eligible Sailors, roughly 1 in 7, make Chief each year (Faram

demonstrates that people often struggle loss, most often losing friends or valuable possessions. Loss
can be a powerful thing that can control people, but it can also help people learn indispensable lessons.
It changed and deeply affected numerous characters in Gwilan s Harp, by Ursula K. Le Guin, The
Washwoman, by Isaac Bashevis Singer, and The Last Leaf, by O. Henry. It affected many, if not all, of
the characters choices. Each character reacted in a different way. They also all learned a lesson from
their loss. It changed them and grew them, encouraging them to become a better person. Loss is an

The Great Influenza By John M. Barry
The book The Great Influenza: The Story of the Deadliest Pandemic in History, written by John M.
Barry, covers the progression of the Spanish influenza, especially in the United States. Barry focuses
not only on the influenza itself, though, but also on the social influences that allowed the virus to
flourish. The book covers how medical practices in the United States had risen up just in time to
combat the virus, but, due to societal issues and the war, the doctors struggled in areas where they
should have been successful. Although medicine today is comparatively more advanced, that is a more
recent change than one would like to think. For instance, not even 150 years ago, Hippocrates and
Galen would have recognized and largely agreed with most medical practices. Barry addresses this
topic of medical advancement at the beginning of his book by producing a well researched, albeit a
little too long, history of western medicine. He provides examples of how medicine evolved from the
teachings of Hippocrates, Galen, and Vesalius to a more modern form of medicine. This was done in
order to explain how prepared the medical community was in the face of this impending virus. Unlike
the other epidemics, the people of the early 19 century should have been prepared to face the influenza
with all of their exciting and new medical equipment and practices, but there was something in their
way of advancement universities. While this new group of medical warriors, as

Vaccines Are The Tugboats Of Preventive Health
Introduction
Vaccines are the tugboats of preventive health (Billy Corgan). Vaccines are one of the most cost
effective health solutions; they are seen as the safest and best way to prevent diseases. They are also
effective in preventing bacterial infections such as whooping cough (pertussis) and tetanus. But there
are people around the world who purposely avoid it because of the ingredients inside or because of
their own bad experiences with vaccines. Due to the rise of conscientious vaccine objectors in
Australia, the Australian government introduced the No Jab No Pay legislation. The legislation
consists on the government cutting child care benefits and tax rebate if the child isn t immunised;
ultimately to improve the immunisation coverage rates in Australia. ( No Jab No Pay, Australian
Vaccination skeptics Network Inc. , 2016) It also provides a catch up plan that provides free service
for children under 10. The scheme aims to improve overall vaccination standards in Australia. But
why do people object getting vaccination? Is the No Jab No Pay the best solution? Is there a better
solution to vaccination rates? The report aims to answer the questions above through research and data
from Australia and around the world.
Importance of Vaccination
Vaccinations are an important force against preventable diseases, they fight many diseases and it
doesn t only protect the person vaccinated but can protect others. They can control the spread of
disease to people who are not

Sumer was a very prosperous country. They had enormous amounts of money and natural resources,
but they had one problem politically. They were divided into multiple city states spread throughout
their region of land. City states are cities that are also separate, independent states. These multiple city
states fought with each other for many years over land and use of river water and had been conquered
twice.
The first time they were conquered, they were conquered by Sargon the Great of neighboring Akkad

But eventually all good things must come to an end. After one hundred years of peace the city states
dissolved again and they no longer were a major power after two thousand B.C.. Now, they were

seventeen thousands B.C.. King Hammurabi called his new empire the Babylonian Empire. He created
and ruled this empire from seventeen eighty seven B.C. to seventeen fifty B.C.He did this by
conquering the city states of Sumer and lands far north.During his time period of rule he created roads
which made travel easier so in turn this encouraged trade. Babylonians location made it a crossroad of
trade so if caverns were making their way to Sumer or Assyria they would stop by the bazaars to trade
things. All this trade made them very rich. Agriculture also made them very rich. King Hammurabi
also made the beautiful city of Babylon the center of Babylonian, but his main accomplishment was
his code or a organized list of laws. His code was made to settle conflicts in all areas of life. Now,
keep in mind it was not fair because the punishment would depended on the rank of the victim and the

give the slave some money, but if it were a noble you stole the spoon from, you might get killed. Even

  • 3. Tax Evasion Paper The Extended Arm of the United States Government in its Battle against Tax Evaders Professor: Kenneth Lavery Submitted By: Deanne Patterson Week 6: July 31, 2011 Taxes are a major contributor of the American economy. The tax system in the United States depends on voluntary compliance, which means that each citizen is responsible for filing a tax return when required and for determining and paying the correct amount of tax . (Albrect, Albrect, Albrect Albrect and Zimbelman). When individuals under report, exaggerate deductions, and hide money in off shore accounts, this is clearly misrepresentation of their income to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and is deemed tax evasion. The Interpretation of the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States continues to present many arguments as to the legality of income taxes in America and Globally. This student believes that the interpretation of the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States continues to present many arguments concerning the legality of the American income tax system. When the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution was ratified (February 3, 1913) giving Congress the power to lay and collect taxes on incomes , citizens began arguing that it was not properly ratified and income taxes are illegal. Citizens continue to raise such arguments in spite of the fact that they have no basis in law and the courts have repeatedly rejected their arguments as frivolous. Promoters and their followers have long employed frivolous arguments concerning the legality of the income tax as pretexts to enrich themselves or evade their taxes. Their motivation is usually monetary. Anti taxation groups used different arguments to gain followers, they all share one thing in common; they received substantial sentences in a federal prison for their activities. Their followers paid a steep price for following bad advice. Some were prosecuted, many more were involved in years of litigation and ultimately had to pay all taxes owed along with penalties and ... Multiple Sclerosis Research In adult patients suffering from Multiple Sclerosis (MS), research has been done to show that in the brain, deep grey matter atrophy (damage or lesions) is measurable even within the first few years after the first attack. The neurodegenerative aspect of Multiple Sclerosis is crippling not only to the central nervous system, but to important brain substructures like the thalamus, putamen, caudate, and globus pallidus (a major part of the basal ganglia) and could lead to a hindering of brain growth in the brains of adolescents who are in critical stages of development. There is an older incentive (Scanlon) plan put in place which worked very well for this company and its employees, helping them to rise up from an unproductive state in the 1990 s. Now that it has been in place for quite some time, it is getting stale. No bonuses have been given in months. The employees are not satisfied with the management of the ... They want more than just a paycheck and job security from their jobs. (Newstrom, 2014, p. 39) I also agree that management has to be able to change and grow and continue to listen to any upward communication from the staff. In order to accomplish better communication, management should provide an open door policy and also informal meetings where employees can either feel free to go to their supervisors first with any questions or concerns and also raise issues with resources or basically anything that interferes with their job performance (Newstrom, 2014, p. 70). I believe that it is also important to support an organization culture including some key values including the following: integrity, great customer service, unity, respect and compassion and excellence. (Newstrom, 2014, p. 100). Lastly, I think that having a fun place to work creates motivated individuals who will have an increased job satisfaction. A fun workplace doesn t have to be an oxymoron. The Electric Vehicle Essay The Electric Vehicle The technology of electric vehicles has been around since the turn of the nineteenth century but faded as the gasoline powered engine took the spotlight. Now the future of electric vehicles is very bright. Their impacts are very significant ranging from economic, to new technology that can be applied elsewhere, to most importantly, the environment. Ford and GM, through its Saturn plant, have already begun production on their own version of the electric vehicle and have made them available to the public. In 1998 California plans to have one percent of its major auto makers sell electric vehicles and other states have looked into the same possibility, mainly Massachusetts and New York. The mandate is set to take effect in 1998 in California and as many as five other states have considered adopting the ZEV mandate for themselves, with New York already mandating the policy. Several auto makers have filed suit against the ZEV mandate, but the latest rulings have gone against the auto makers. In 1989, Los Angeles City Council member Marvin Braude issued a worldwide bid for 10,000 electric vehicles to be delivered to southern California in the mid 1990 s (Sperling 1995). The bid was met with major skepticism from major automotive companies about the market for the electric vehicles, and the bid was granted to Clean Air Transport, an Anglo Swedish company with a small number of employees. The company spent millions to build a hybrid electric gasoline car but could not get any funding to begin manufacturing. As a result, the company simply disappeared in the early nineties, but it did not matter because by this time the major auto makers had taken interest. Elsewhere in the world, many other countries were also experimenting with electric vehicles. British manufacturers never stopped producing these vehicles and had turned out several thousand electric milk delivery trucks a year. By 1990 it was estimated that 33,000 of these were on England s roads. In Japan, major auto makers had indulged themselves in the development of the electric vehicle during the 1970 s, but backed off their efforts in the 1980 s only after they had built a small ... • 8. The Carson Show One of the greatest talk shows of all time, The Tonight show has been entertaining Americans for more than 60 years. The show, produced by NBC Productions, first hit the air under the name Tonight in 1954. The show then settled on the name The Tonight Show in 1962. Among the name change there were many additional changes that have taken place in the shows running. The show originally had two openings, one for a news affiliate that began at 11:15 p.m. EST and another for those viewers who joined in at 11:30. In 1965, then host Johnny Carson refused to appear until 11:30, thus the show s start time changed to 11:30 p.m. EST. This was not the only time that the shows aired time had changed, in fact the aired time as well as length time changed multiple times throughout the shows running. A few additional impactful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each host brought a unique flare to the show, however there are four hosts; Jonny Carson, Jay Leno, Conan O Brien and Jimmy Fallon, that gave the show its superior qualities, making it the longest airing talk show of all time. Carson who hosted the show from 1962 to1992 is the longest serving host to date. He was the Gold Standard of hosts. He exemplified charisma and depth. He could do political and social commentary, comedy skits and handle all kinds of interviews from the serious to the silly. Carson served as the role model for all other American talk show hosts who followed him. Leno who hosted the show from 1992 to 2009 replaced Carson after he retired. The format of the show remained largely unchanged, consisting primarily of an opening humorous monologue, followed by several celebrity interviews, comedy sketches and musical numbers. Though I don t feel Leno was as comical as Carson and his interview skill were lacking, he had an aura that drew people in. This likability is what causes him to receive a second tenure from 2010 to 2014, after O Brien left the network due to scheduling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To do this we must look at a definition of both psychology and sociology and discuss any possible effects these have had on Susan s perception of health issues. Also this essay will be looking at any influences such as education, in relation to a female of Susan s age and background, and discuss whether these issues have affected Susan s health and her responses to illness. Susan was admitted to hospital for a planned bi lateral total knee replacement, she lived with her husband John who suffered from bipolar disorder. Another factor affecting peoples perception could be their locus of control, Rotter (1954) made distinctions between beliefs of people with an internal and an external locus of control: people who are said to be internal are thought to believe that their own actions can change the outcome of situations, making these situations under personal control, however externals are seen generally to believe that the outcome is beyond their personal control, believing that their actions are unrelated to the events. Therefore if someone has an internal locus of control they believe that they have a significant say in how their lives are run, whereas a person with an external locus of control believes that fate has already decided upon the events of their lives. Niven (2000) suggests that people who have an internal locus of control may be more highly motivated to take action concerning their health; however they are less likely to adhere to medical advice. This may be due to the fact that internals feel that they have a choice and say in the outcomes of their health and can decide not to adhere when it is appropriate. For example in Susan s case when she spoke about having a bilateral total knee replacement, she said that when the doctor had advised having ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Summary Of The Stranger By Albert Camus My silent sustained reading book is The Stranger written by Albert Camus. It was first published by Hamish Hamilton in 1946. Even though the story was written eight decades ago, the message Camus was trying to convey is still pliable to current day. The novel starts off with the narrator, Guy Meursault, just receiving news of his mother s passing and her funeral that takes place the following day. Meursault shows no signs of remorse over losing his own mother and even refuses to look at his own mother s body. Once the funeral was over the narrator meets up with his former employee, who he takes to see a comedy movie and starts a relationship with her. In the following days, Meursault assists his neighbor Raymond Sintès in exacting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story s protagonist is Guy Meursault, a Frenchman in his late thirties. While the protagonist is a man, the antagonist is society itself. Society is the one who finds Meursault guilty, just because he cannot grasp its composition. He finds it difficult to comprehend his own actions as wrong due to his own logic of society. While the story takes place in Algeria, which is a country in North Africa, it feels as if it could have taken place anywhere. In spite of the topic of the story, which is concerning death, the tone of Camus writing makes it seem as if the narrator is uncaring and indifferent to the topic. Throughout his mother s death and his neighbor s cruel acts Meursault doesn t feel anything about these things; the author makes it appear that the protagonist is heartless and cold. The narrator seems to have no reason not to believe Sintès story about his girlfriend and even helps him emotionally and physically hurt her. The point of view in the book is first person, which allows the audience to understand Meursault s thoughts and opinions. We are able to hear that he feels no remorse for any of this actions and even thinks of death as something trivial for it is part of everyday life. I feel that if the story wasn t in first person the story would not be renown as a classic. For without the narrator s perspective Camus book would not be known for describing the human condition. Leave it all behind, begin a life of constant threat and survival a continuous battle of severe weather and starvation for a hope and a desired promise of a new beginning, a new foundation, and pursuing your faith freely. Would you ever pursue this? Would you leave everything for a future dream? At first, some of us might answer yes, right away, but Can we, or would we, ever put our words and our thoughts to the test? Would we survive, just to keep our lives? Would we endure the weather for a promise? When the separatists faced persecution for their faith, rejection from church, work and, for some, family, they were considered treasonous and dangerous, and they faced imprisonment. They decided it was time to let go and lose everything for a glimpse of new hope. Desiring freedom, a new life, a new home, as well as, bringing and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who had never heard it before, in 1620, the separatists let go, losing everything, all for a glimpse of new hope. Through unforgiving weather and sickness and through the survival for their lives, many would sacrifice their lives, for the anticipative promise of a new foundation and independence. • 13. Factors That Affect The Growth And Germination Rates Were... Plants are an essential part of survival for humans and animals and contribute significantly to various areas of the lives of organisms. In order to better understand the different plants and its requirements the growth and germination rates were investigated. The hypothesis stated that if the dicotolydeons and monocotyledons are placed in the same environment and watered regularly, then the dicotyledons will have a faster growth and germination rate. In order for plants to survive, it is a necessity for the process of photosynthesis to occur. Photosynthesis is the process wherein plants create oxygen and food for themselves (glucose) using carbon dioxide, water and energy from the sun. Once this process is completed, plants are able to grow using the nutrients provided by photosynthesis. Word equation: carbon dioxide + water (SUNLIGHT AND CHLORYPHYLL) glucose + oxygen There are many factors that affect photosynthesis such as light availability, carbon dioxide concentration and temperature. Light is a limiting factor as if there is not enough light available, the rate of photosynthesis will decrease. This is because without the light, the chlorophyll (not be created) will be unable to absorb energy from the sun, resulting in no food which is required for survival. Temperature plays an essential role in photosynthesis as well. As the temperature increases, so does the rate of photosynthesis. As it is a chemical reaction, an increase in temperature will cause enzymes and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The results showed that in some ways, the people that were lying were less forthcoming than the truth tellers. The liars also told less compelling tales when asked to explain their reasoning. Zuckerman in 1981 found that liars might also be experiencing a greater sense of arousal than the truth tellers. This was noted by the liars having greater pupil dilation, more frequent speech, increased blinking, as well as a high pitched voice. In 1985 Ekman wrote an article explaining the role of emotions that are involved in deception. When Ekman was able to understand the emotions the liars were experiencing, Ekman stated that it s possible to predict the behaviors of a liar that differ from truth tellers. He gave an example by showing that the cues that involve fear like speech errors, faster and louder speech, and high pitch gave a greater chance of a liar being pointed out. Ekman also found that liars who felt guilt lying to someone they could trust showed certain behavioral indicators of guilt. In De Paulo s study she explains that one of the main reasons that it is more difficult to lie than to tell the truth is because when someone is lying they have to fabricate a new and never experienced situation so the probability of error goes way up compared to when someone is telling the truth all they have to do is simply tell the story as is. Liars are also more likely to fail when they know less about their target or the target knows more about the subject at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. The Great Influenza By John M. Barry The book The Great Influenza: The Story of the Deadliest Pandemic in History, written by John M. Barry, covers the progression of the Spanish influenza, especially in the United States. Barry focuses not only on the influenza itself, though, but also on the social influences that allowed the virus to flourish. The book covers how medical practices in the United States had risen up just in time to combat the virus, but, due to societal issues and the war, the doctors struggled in areas where they should have been successful. Although medicine today is comparatively more advanced, that is a more recent change than one would like to think. For instance, not even 150 years ago, Hippocrates and Galen would have recognized and largely agreed with most medical practices. Barry addresses this topic of medical advancement at the beginning of his book by producing a well researched, albeit a little too long, history of western medicine. He provides examples of how medicine evolved from the teachings of Hippocrates, Galen, and Vesalius to a more modern form of medicine. This was done in order to explain how prepared the medical community was in the face of this impending virus. Unlike the other epidemics, the people of the early 19 century should have been prepared to face the influenza with all of their exciting and new medical equipment and practices, but there was something in their way of advancement universities. While this new group of medical warriors, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The scheme aims to improve overall vaccination standards in Australia. But why do people object getting vaccination? Is the No Jab No Pay the best solution? Is there a better solution to vaccination rates? The report aims to answer the questions above through research and data from Australia and around the world.
