into component parts here we are having two different approaches whereas the first takes the whole
person into consideration and the sum total of parts makes the whole in psychodynamics we

as a separate entity. In humanistic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on To what extent is experience necessary for face...
It has been claimed that experience plays a crucial role in the development of face processing
(Kelly, Quinn, Slater, Lee, Ge Pascalis, 2007, p.1084). To what extent is experience necessary for
face processing? Support your argument with empirical evidence.
There is much debate on the subject of experience in regards to face processing. Some say that
experience is wholly important in face processing while others say that face processing is innate
and will develop without experience. It has been argued both that face processing is a perceptual
process organized at birth and that it originates in a more general process that becomes specialized
due to experience of different faces (Sugita, 2009). It may be that there is an innate ... Show more

They were then asked to decide whether they were the same or different when upright and
inverted. Deprived patients distinguished faces from the featural set normally, but were
significantly impaired for the configural set. These results indicate experience is indeed necessary
for the normal development of face processing; specifically configural processing of faces. They
also suggest that when visual input is delayed by only two months, there are permanent deficits (Le
Grand et al., 2001).
It has been hypothesized that there may be a critical/sensitive period for certain aspects of face
processing to develop. Inferences from several data imply that there is a sensitive period and that
it is between the first 6 to 12 months of life (Mancini et al., 1994). Nelson (2001) proposes that
regions within the brain have the potential to become specialized for face processing and then when
the face perception apparatus becomes tuned by exposure to faces, this specification includes:
recognizing gender, age and emotional information. Sugita (2009) also suggests that there is a
sensitive period for face perception; as selective experiences significantly affect later development
of face processing. Although this theory has been inferred many times it is ultimately unknown for
how long this period may last. However, the concept of a sensitive period certainly supports the

The Importance Of Nursing Homes Are The Best Places For...
With the growth of the aged population, finding the suitable accommodation for the elderly
becomes a popular topic of interests. From that, an increasing number of the elderly are sent to
nursing homes, the facilities that specialized in aged care and are regarded as the ideal places
for old people. However, some question whether nursing homes are truly the best places for the
elderly. This essay will argue that there are still some issues that need to be addressed in nursing
homes, which may probably even make the elderly s lives worse. In this case, nursing homes are
not the best places for the aged people. Firstly, the facilities and staffs of nursing homes are
possibly not as adequate as one would like to imagine. One reason that nursing homes are
described as the suitable places for the olds is that they provide specialized facilities, doctors,
nurses and care recipients to protect the health for the elderly. Australian Aged Care Quality
Agency has set some standards for nursing homes and the Standard 2 Health and personal care
shows that nursing homes must put efforts on Staff development, Clinical care, Specialized
nursing care needs and Medication management. However, the facilities are actually rarely
checked to ensure that they meet the standards of basic health and safety (Brodwin, 2014) as well
as the percentages of nursing homes that lack adequate staffs to properly care for patients and
have been in violation of elderly abuse laws are 91% and 36% respectively

The Breakfast Club Psychology
The Breakfast Club The John Hughes film The Breakfast Club gives the account of a Saturday
detention at Shermer High School, where a group of five distinctively different high school
students comes together. Consequently, teen drama follows. The movie wholly spotlights social
psychology topics. These topics include but are not limited to social roles, relationships,
conformality, prejudices, and persuasion. Of these topics, the concept of social roles holds a vast
importance to the overall target of the film. Each of the five students represent a different social
group of modern high schools; John Bender, the troublemaker, rebel , Allison Reynolds, the social
outcast , Claire Standish, the over privileged, snobbish white girl , Brian Johnston, the nerd , and
Andrew Clark, the jock . These personifications are presented through stereotypical clothing,

Claire demonstrates an illustration of how apparel can inspire stereotyping through her wearing of
light pink pastels and a skirt. This wardrobe prevails style in the era and highlights her desire to
keep up with trends. Bender actively personifies his character verbally, through his aggressive and
disrespectful comments, to both the students and authority figures. Andrew supports his image of a
jock through external interactions when he defends popular girl, Claire. This represents the
strength, toughness and overall heroic aspect of a competitor. The divergence and singularity of
each stereotype lend motivation for the prejudices of the film. For instance, detention teacher, Mr.
Vernon, had characterized each of the students prior to the start of detention based upon the
previously discussed factors that motivate

The Sectional Crisis And The Compromise Of 1850
In efforts to better understand the Civil War most historians examine the Sectional Crisis and the
Compromise of 1850 in the decades leading up to the worst years in American History. Some
historians prefer to focus on the underlying theme of the war, others tightly examine individual
leaders, events, and political parties, connecting them all together like puzzle pieces to define the
years prior to the war. Despite the contrasting views, it is clear to realize the constant prevailing
issues of the Antebellum Period, the Sectional Crisis and the Compromise of 1850. In particular, the
Compromise of 1850 is deceivingly taught as only establishing 3 pivotal elements: the status of
slavery in future territories (popular sovereignty), California statehood, and the fugitive slave law.
Granted these elements of the compromise provide a great amount of controversy long after their
birth, but one element of the compromise perceives to fail in obtaining recognition. The TexasNew
Mexico boundary resolution seems to find itself fading away from its relevancy to the civil war,
shadowed by more prominent issues regarding the stability of the Union. Abandoning the
traditional teaching of the compromise, the Texas New Mexico border decision figuratively and
literally changed the identity of Texas. This was the long awaited result caused by deep rooted
social and political issues dating back to the Texas Revolution.
The end result of the dispute that led to the compromise held Texas to

In this paper, we aim to fill what we, as researchers and teachers in qualitative psychology, have
experienced as a current gap: the absence of a paper which adequately outlines the theory,
application, and evaluation of thematic analysis, and one which does so in a way accessible to
students and those not particularly familiar with qualitative research. 1 That is, we aim to write a
paper which will be useful as both a teaching and research tool in qualitative psychology. Therefore,
in this paper we discuss theory and method for thematic analysis, and clarify the similarities and
differences between different approaches that share features in common with a thematic approach.
Qualitative approaches are incredibly diverse, complex and nuanced (Holloway Todres, 2003), and
thematic analysis should be seen as a foundational method for qualitative analysis. It is the first
qualitative method of analysis that researchers should learn, as it provides core skills that will be
useful for conducting many other forms of qualitative analysis. Indeed, Holloway and Todres (2003:
347) identify thematizing meanings as one of a few shared generic skills across qualitative
analysis.2 For this reason, Boyatzis (1998) characterises it not as a specific method but as a tool to
use across different methods. Similarly, Ryan and Bernard (2000) locate thematic coding as a
process performed within „major‟ analytic traditions (such as grounded theory), rather than a

Spider Visual Analysis
My visual interpretation, I have decided to create a spider and the web as a center focus that
creates and attaches to the ideas of agency, identity, culture, and structure. The spider represents
the dominant group (white race) creates these labels on how the world should look and be like.
It weaves these invisible norms, just as a spider weaves an invisible web to trap their prey. I
place these words in a circular motion surrounding the spider. The words that are closest to the
spider are created by the dominant groups and influence the rest of the other words. For instance in
the inner circle pictures of a (gay stripper, a woman with dark brown eyes working and poor are

speak, or live by. These identities are meant to put people in different categories and really limit the
mobility of people from the lower groups. In a multicultural environment, ever teacher and student

Abstract
This essay analyses the Samsung Mobile company by applying Porter s Five forces. Also each
factor will be compared with Apple and Nokia which are competitive companies in the mobile
industry and the strength of Samsung s strategic position will be demonstrated.
Introduction
Samsung Electronics, Apple and Nokia are the competitive mobile companies. To compare each
company s strategic position Samsung was chosen. Although many components are needed to make
mobile phones; semiconductors and the operating systems (OS) which companies use will be
mainly discussed because these factors have an effect on the function of a mobile phone. Therefore

The power of suppliers
Samsung, Apple, and Nokia use a variety of suppliers for mobile components (Husso, 2011). As
some mobile components of Samsung Electronics are provided by their subsidiary company, it
seems that they have low power of supplier. Also, the subsidiary company which is Samsung
Semiconductor was ranked second in the number of sales throughout the world in 2012(Leachman
et al, 2002). This means that their semiconductors could be delivered for a low price in high
quality. The most interesting factor is that Apple and Nokia chose the Samsung Semiconductor for
their supplier (Leachman et al, 2002). Therefore Samsung Semiconductor could reduce the fixed
cost as they produce large amounts of semiconductors to provide to two large companies.
In the case of Operating System, except for Samsung, Apple and Nokia use their own company s
OS which is iOS and Symbian respectively. In the OS market, Android accounts for over 50%
market share which means they provide OS to many mobile companies (Fernandez,2009).
Therefore Samsung which uses Android OS has high level of power of Operating System

Book Review
Speaking of sex : the denial of gender inequality
By Rhode, Deborah L
Publication: 1999
Speaking of Sex by the author Deborah L. Rhode, the title itself of the book attracts your curiosity.
She skillfully hints at the real material of the book by providing her readers with an appealing title
with a subtitle of, The Denial of Gender Inequality. The idea of Speaking of Sexchallenges the
audience to look further or explore the problems associated with gender inequality. The author
follows a mere systematic pattern, she begins by presenting society s constant denial regarding
gender inequality growth, in spite of the progress made lately in social, legal and regarding public
policy settings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the acknowledgment that considerably much has changed during the past twenty years,
Rhodes states how the issue behind no problem problem is the denial of gender inequality that is
still persistent and growing. Rhode s writing made me realize my denial regarding this issue and
how this denial is continuing to disadvantage women in society as a whole. The author
emphasizes on three basic patterns of denial, the first denial Rhodes states is the denial of gender
inequality, which is composed of the allowance of individuals as myself to ignore or not succeed
to identify or recognize the extent in which women still suffer from discrimination against. The
second denial is the denial of injustice which stands for the manifestation of the way in general
people rationalize women s inequality by blaming the women for the choices they make and their
own capabilities. Last but not least, the third denial is the denial of responsibility which stands for
the beliefs that as individuals we look upon the issue as not personally involved in the problem
women face, or the fact that we are not responsible somehow for contributing to finding a

Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder Essay
The Eye of the Beholder
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What is beautiful to me may not be beautiful to you. An
idiom that is known by almost every nation and culture. However, what happens when society on
a collective whole, perceive a certain characteristic, or body type as beautiful and desirable. When
you are told day by day what is considered appealing, or that a size zero is the ideal body size for a
woman. When women are told you would be prettier if...What is left to be said and done when
women don t meet the criteria of the Goddess like perfection that society decided to shackle
them with. It is a cancerous disease eating away at our sense of self growth and actualization. It is a
sickness that needs a cure, and we as a society must seek to eradicate it, so that we can grow as a
people.
Before Kim Kardashian or BeyoncГ© took over the airwaves, women have been objectified by
society, and their male counterparts, not for what s inside of their heads, but what their heads are
attached to. When a young girl looks in the mirror, they are no longer seeing themselves, but the
woman or girl they wished to be or imitate. They are seeing the cover girl model with the long
hair, smooth skin, and the small waist. As Mrs. Steinem wrote, The power lies not within us but in
the gaze of the observers. (340). No matter how well put together or intelligent a woman is, how
many degrees she has under her name, all that society sees is that she could be a little more pleasing

and obesity will continues to get worse, unless everyone takes action to their lives! Opportunities in
today s society show endless ways to get back into shape. Starting the activity of runningwill change
one s life for the better. The positive benefits of participating in running include experiencing a fun
activity, many healthbenefits, a low cost sport, and sponsoring charity organizations. When
starting to get into shape many people dread the thought of exercising. While getting in shape
anyone can experience fun and fulfillment. The task of getting in shape will change one s life for

improve your physical and mental health (Delorez and Hanc 16). Running allows anyone to
develop into a healthier person. When running one can run with a partner or a group of people.
Physically running with someone creates bonding, companionship and competition. Training with
someone for a race also provides and creates a positive mindset. A good fit for a running

Human Stain Quotes
There are many well known works that deal with social issues in America during the late 19th
century. Of those many, Philips Roth s The Human Stain is one of the most famous, a novel that
deals with the issue of racism in America and how many blacks pass in whites because of
advantages and privileges that the whites had during that time in America, especially Jews. The
author of the novel represents this phenomenon through his main character of the novel
Coleman Silk, who is a light skinned boy from a black family, who lives in New Jersey, and decides
to present himself as a white Jew and hide his real origin. Conversely, this was a big decision, and

Case Study On Fabindia
1.Can fabindia continue to grow? What problems are anticipated?
Ans: Fabindia has many strength and opportunities to compete and grow in the retail sector, so I
can say that fabindia can continue to grow. Fabindia was founded in 1960 with a mission to provide
work and employment to india s skilled rural artisans and to protect traditional weaving and printing
skills. Another point is change in customer consumption pattern increase income per capita has
given boost to domestic sale of fabindia. In last five year turnover of fabindia has increased by
335% profit by 422%.
Fabindia was set the plan to grow revenue to 8.6 billion from 200 stores by Fy 2011. The
management team anticipated growth to come not only from the opening of new store but also
from increase same store sales that would be generated by introduction of a premium series of
product. They also wished to expand their offering of organic product to fresh produce dairy, as

A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man By James Joyce
From the very beginning of the novel, A Portrait of the Artist as a young man by James Joyce we
meet Stephen Dedalus. From there, we perceive the world exactly as Stephen perceives it.
Through sounds, smells, and sensations we learn everything that Stephen is learning and many
times in incredibly specific detail. Stephen s overly sensitive reactions and consistent use of
imagery is proof to us that Stephen is different and views the world from an artist s perspective.
This uses of imagery and motifs by James Joyceis used to describe how Stephen is able to interpret
the world around him. Furthermore, Joyce reveals this through the name of the main character.
Joyce s ability to make stories realistic was one of the reasons that he was such a tremendous
success as a writer. Specifically, his use of imagery to establish motifs and symbols to provide a
consciousness flow throughout his work that almost transports you into Stephens memories. If we
can understand this imagery, then we can better understand Stephen s life and the time and place he
lived in. Stephen or Steven is a masculine first name, derived from the Greek name Stephanos , in
turn from the Greek word, meaning wreath, crown, honor, reward , literary that which surrounds or
encompasses and in Greek mythology, Daedaluswas a skillful craftsman and artist . The portrait of
the artist as a young man is not a story about a portrait or a piece of art by an artist but the artist
himself. It is about the experiences and difficulties in his life that lead him into finding his passion,
his purpose and himself. Joyce also uses the name Stephen Daedalus for his protagonist as a
reference to the builder of the Cretan Labyrinth. As the story goes, Daedalus, an architect, created
a maze called the Labyrinth to house a half man, half bull upon the Kings request. To keep the
secret of the Labyrinth safe, the King imprisoned Daedalus and his son in the Labyrinth too.
Trying to escape Daedalus created two pairs of wings from feathers and wax which he and his
son used to fly from the island. His son, who did not heed his father s warning and took too much
pride in believing he had outsmarted the King. He flew too high into the sky and the wax melted

The Importance Of Health Care In Arkansas
Health care in Arkansas is severely limited, but a few changes in the spending of the state s funding
could improve the quality and quantity of health facilities around the state. Making Arkansas
general public more aware of the disparities involving health care within the state could open the
door for filling the needed positions, as Arkansasalso has a significant unemployment rate. Robert
Bowman, leading researcher in rural medical education, is quoted as saying, It is no longer about
establishing family medicineas a discipline... It is about the kind of healthcare delivered in the
United States and our role in shaping the caregiver that will best serve our patients. This is no
easy task because the general awareness of these issues is low (par. 19). It would be much easier to

Pulaski County, but they are aimed at juniors or seniors, and it is hard to find informational health

On December 1, 2008, the National Bureau of Economic Research announced that the economy
had entered into a recession in December year 2007. The real GDP increased by only 0.4
percent for the year 2008, and it is decreased at the annual rates of 5.4 percent in the 4th quarter
of year 2008 and 6.4 percent in the 1st quarter of year 2009. The unemployment rate was
increased from 4.9 percent in December of 2007 to 9.5 percent in June of 2009. The Dow Jones
Industrial Average (DJIA) reached a peak of 14,279.96 on October 11, 2007, and then fell to

Analysis Of Francois Truffaut And Alfred Hitchcock s Film...
Anyone who is even vaguely aware with film usually has a favorite director. Why? What
distinguishes one director from another? A director is the person who determines and realizes on
the screen an artistic vision of the screenplay; casts the actors and directs their performances; works
closely with production design in creating the look of the film...and in most cases, supervises all
postproduction activity, especially editing (Barsam and Monahan 496). Clearly, the director of a
film is lead visionary in how the film is made. But what makes some directors truly memorable and
instantly recognizable? Those directors take advantage of all different kinds creative possibilities

Alfred Hitchcock also used cinematography in a uniquely stylizing way. Hitchcock not only uses
the camera to create dramatic irony, but he also uses the camera to lie to the audience and create
anxious suspense. For example, in his film Psycho, when Marion is in the shower Hitchcock
frames the scenes very tightly. Marion is in a confined and very personal space. This makes her
incredibly vulnerable. Then Hitchcock heightens the suspense by creating dramatic irony with the
reveal of a shadowy figure closing in on Marion, unbeknownst to her. This creates a lot of anxiety
for the audience, knowing the protagonist is vulnerable and in danger with no way of altering the
inevitable. Hitchcock then manipulates the audience by revealing a brief silhouette of an old lady
as our shower killer. Hitchcock uses this reveal to lie to the audience, he makes the audience think
they have more inside knowledge confirming their already growing suspicions, when in reality the
audience is misled entirely and the murderer was Norman all along. The way Hitchcock uses the
camera to reveal both inside information and misleading information truly keeps the viewer
engaged and not knowing what to believe until the truth is finally revealed. By using this unique
technique of controlling the audience by only showing what he wants you to see, Hitchcock
masterfully defies expectations and creates suspense. Both

Bodily fluids are vital pieces of evidence in both criminal investigations and forensic analyses.
Fluids, including blood, semen, saliva, urine, feces, and vaginal secretions, can provide critical
information related to a crime and assist in reconstruction. However, in order for this type of
evidence to relay the proper information, forensic scientists need reliable methods to help identify
and process the evidence collected. Over years of research, those in the forensics field have
developed a number of methods for the identification of these bodily fluids. These traditional
methods are widely accepted by the forensic sciencecommunity as standard for use in laboratories.

Color tests are easy and rapid to perform because one simply needs to swab or rub filter paper on an
area thought to contain blood and add reagents to the swab or filter paper to observe a color
change. This makes the color tests non destructive as well, making the sample available for
further analyses. Both phenolphthalein and leucomalachite green can be used on older
bloodstains as well [1]. Color tests have another advantage in that they do not dilute samples
because it involves swabbing or rubbing filter paper on a stain and adding reagents to the swab
/paper itself [1]. The color tests have been found to have sensitivities of 1:10,000, which is quite
sensitive for a presumptive assay, and therefore very beneficial [1]. However, these color tests do
have a few different materials that will produce a false positive, such as plant materials and heavy
metal salts for phenolphthalein. Since each assay has its own list of materials that will cause false
positives, this is a disadvantage that all of the screening tests share because it may cause conflicts

Threats
Some threats can adversely affect the business of Sears Holdings Corporation. The most prominent
risk faced by Sears Holding Corporation is the competition among the local, national and
international retail companies. Top three competitors of the group are J.C Penney Corporation
Inc., Target Corporation and Wal Mart Stores Inc. (Hoovers, 2011). The retail business is a cut
throat competition. The market players have a multitude of companies across various states and
around the globe. Moreover, many companies are merging and becoming large entities. If any
merger of the magnitude equal to Sears can have an impact on the market position and share of
the Sears Holdings Corporation Sear s revenue growth will likely be affected. The housing market
crisis, as well as the increased food and utility prices, change the buying power of the people by
leaving the consumers with less disposable income. At that point, the lowest pay permitted by law
rate set by the US government has expanded the work expenses of the organizations worked in the
United States which has, thus, developed their costs of operating together in the business sectors

Essay On Homotopy Analysis Method
Abstract
This research presents Homotopy Analysis Method to Fredholm integral equations of the second
kind. An analytical method solving linear and nonlinear equations. The Homotopy Analysis Method
provides an efficient and powerful tool in solving integral equations. The method provides a great
freedom in choosing an auxiliary parameter h, an auxiliary linear operator L,an auxiliary nonlinear

The Importance Of Voting In Congress
Topic Statement The public in America is disillusioned to believe that they run the government
as they are on the top in the hierarchy of democracy. However in practice the incidents suggests
that the rich are ruling the country while the general public is left with no choice but to follow
the rules set in favor of the few. Ironically, there is an indifference towards this attitude in the

While certain groups believe that contributions are made to campaign of a particular politician

familiar diseases in the modern societies AD was first reported by Alois Alzheimer in 1907.The
AD is the most common type of dementia and a neurodegenerative disease characterized by the
damage of nerve cells in the cerebral cortex. The health statistics report that AD disease affects
more than 50 million people worldwide in 2003, it is expected this number to increase to 114
million by 2050.(1) It is reported that AD disease affect one in three people over the age 85.(2) The
symptoms of AD include depression, apathy, anxiety, agitation, aggression, delusions,
hallucinations, wandering, and inappropriate sexual behaviours.(3) AD patients suffer from
decrease in cognitive function and short term memory. AD is characterised by the formation of
insoluble clumps of protein or plaques, formed by proteins known as ОІ amyloids. These attach to
the cell surface of neurons and disabled nerve transmission. These plaques have been
demonstrated to contain relatively high levels of Zn2+, Cu2+ and Fe3+ (1 mM, 0.4 mM and 1

Rhetorical Analysis of President Woodrow Wilsons War Message
With the status of the country s belligerency heavily in question, an apprehensive President
Woodrow Wilson prepared to request from an unmotivated and unprepared country a declaration
of war against Germany. After exerting every attempt possible to retain the peace and honor of
the United States, the President was finally forced to choose between the two, in which he opted
for the latter (Seymour 26). As he sat down to compose his congressional address proposing war,
the uncertainty of his decision overwhelmed him. He confided to a member of his cabinet, Frank
Cobb, that he had never been as unsure about anything in his life as the judgment he was making

He labeled the conflict as a war against all nations exemplifying the distress that other countries
have experienced due to the unbiased and relentless bombing of their own neutral ships (Safire
111). By associating the United States with other friendly countries who are also at odds with
Germany, Wilson s cry for war seemed more convincing. He went on to assert that the choice
made by the U.S must be befitting to the singular characteristics of the country and that they
must be very clear what their motives upon entry into the war were: not vengeance or profession
of physical might, but to defend the principles of peace and justice and to set up amongst the
free people of the world an observance of these ideals (Safire 113). We were entering the war not
to battle with the German people, but to combat a greater menace, the system that had impended
these violations (Baker 512). The president proceeded with regard to his stance on neutrality.
Aware of pacifists like Henry Cabot Lodge in the audience, Wilson appealed to those who had not
forgotten his promises of keeping America out of war. He admitted that his assumption that armed
neutrality would be adequate in safeguarding his people from unlawful violence was in fact

The Totalitarian State Of Oceania, By George Orwell
Thomas Sowell argues, As long as human beings are imperfect there will always be arguments for
extending the power of government to deal with these imperfections. The only logical stopping
place is totalitarianism unless we realize that tolerating imperfections is the price of freedom . In
George Orwell s agreement to Sowell s statement, he produced a visionary novel, 1984, established
by a haunting setting of the near future; the story implies a politician fiction novel surrounding the
elements of a dystopian society. In the totalitarian state of Oceania, Winston Smith is a member of

which demonstrates Orwell s concern for humankind s liberation against the cruelties and

Bee Symbionts Research Paper
Bees, when foraging for food, are constantly exposed to nectar toxins, pesticides and several
opportunistic pathogens. The specific bacterial community that harbors the bee gut seems to protect
bees when exposed to such stressors, since disturbances in this environment can negatively affect
bee health. Beesymbionts can help bees by both processing harmful compounds and by producing
secondary metabolites to avoid infection. Understanding the impact of secondary metabolites on
the bee gut symbionts is the main focus of this research proposal. First, nectar toxins and

His key traits were determined, visionary, risk taker, tenacious, dedicated, high energy, caring,
conscientious, motivated, persistent, and ambitious. Conrad Hilton recognized the importance
of individuals in the realization of success. He took a personal interest in all of his followers by
paying attention to their concerns and mentoring them (Alef 2009). He encouraged two way
communications between him and his followers to allow the people to express their views. He
tolerated differences among the employees and delegated most of the work to others. This
leadership style is important as it takes into consideration individual views of every person and
makes the employees feel valued (Eeden et al. 2008). Globalization has led to the establishment of
multinational companies that draw their employees from different backgrounds. There is need for
leaders to understand their followers and tolerate their differences for the success of the entire
team. Hilton also inspired his followers towards the attainment of common goals through a shared
vision. He gave the employees a sense of belonging by motivating them to continuously focus on
company goals. His wide experience in politics, military, and the entrepreneurial skills that he
learned at his father`s store was a great inspiration to his subordinates. The Hilton employees
viewed Conrad as a role model due to the high moral standards that he exercised. Hilton

Bates Motel Analysis
A young woman pulls into a motel, somewhere in California. It s raining. She checks in, alone, and
settles for the night. Once in the room, the woman then undresses and turns on the shower. As she
showers, a suspenseful violin music starts playing and she s surprised by what seems to be an old
lady holding a knife, who violently pulls aside the shower curtain. The woman screeches. The
attacker then stabs the naked woman multiple times until she lies dead in the bathtub.
Does this scenario sound familiar to you? Then you ve probably seen or heard of Psycho , Alfred
Hitchcock s chef d oeuvre. The master of suspense 1960 film and Robert Bloch s book of the
same name became the inspiration for the new A E television series Bates Motel, a contemporary
prequel to Hitchcock s movie that debuted March of last year. The series depicts Norman Batesand
the story behind the shower killer s bizarre personality, his murders, and his sick relationship with
his mom, which explains the aftermath we see in Psycho.
Bates Motel gives us the privilege of watching talented Vera Farmiga as Norma Bates and
English actor Freddie Highmore as Norman Bates. You ll probably remember Highmore as
Charlie Bucket in the 2005 reworking of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, where he shares the
big screen with Johnny Depp who supposedly endorsed him for the role or Peter Davis in Finding
Neverland (2004), his most acclaimed performance. In Bates Motel, Highmore shows a deeper

The Global Positioning System (Gps)
Introduction:
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite based navigation system made up of a
network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. GPS was originally
intended for military applications, but in the 1980s, the government made the system available for
civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. There
are no subscription fees or setup charges to use GPS.
The GPS is made up of three parts: satellites orbiting the Earth; control and monitoring stations on
Earth; and the GPS receivers owned by users. GPS satellites broadcast signals from space that are
picked up and identified by GPS receivers. Each GPS receiver then provides three dimensional ...

Essentially, the GPS receiver compares the time a signal was transmitted by a satellite with the
time it was received. The time difference tells the GPS receiver how far away the satellite is. Now,
with distance measurements from a few more satellites, the receiver can determine the user s
position and display it on the unit s electronic map. Figure: Working module.
A GPS receiver must be locked on to the signal of at least three satellites to calculate a 2D position
(latitude and longitude) and track movement. With four or more satellites in view, the receiver can
determine the user s 3D position (latitude, longitude and altitude). Once the user s position has been
determined, the GPS unit can calculate other information, such as speed, bearing, track, trip
distance, distance to destination, sunrise and sunset time and more.
When people talk about a GPS, they usually mean a GPS receiver. The Global Positioning System
(GPS) is actually a constellation of 27 Earth orbiting satellites (24 in operation and three extras in
case one fails). The U.S. military developed and implemented this satellite network as a military
navigation system, but soon opened it up to everybody else. Figure: NAVSTAR GPS satellite
Each of these 3,000 to 4,000 pound solar powered satellites circles the globe at about 12,000 miles

Jane Eyre And Bertha
Look at the difference! Mr. Rochester urges Mr. Woods and Mr. Briggs to compare Jane Eyre s
clear eyes and face with Bertha Mason s red balls and mask (p. 311). It is obvious that Rochester s
comments on his new lover are a lot more positive than those on his first wife. From his point of
view, Jane is a pure angel whereas Bertha is a raging beast. Rochester further overstates the contrast
between Bertha and Jane by dehumanizing the former into a demon and bulk while giving the latter
human characteristics and form (p. 311). Nevertheless, Rochester overlooks the connection between
the two women who marry him in succession. Bertha, the most enigmatic and problematic character

Analysis Of Maddy Whittier s Life
Eighteen year old Maddy Whittier lives her life in a bit of a bubble. This can be a clichГ© for
some people but for Maddy, it s much more than that. SCID is the acronym for Severe Combined
Immune Deficiency and victims of this dreadful disease must live in isolation from the outside
world for fear of germs and contamination that can lead to death. This describes Maddy s world
where she lives at home with her mother Pauline (who is also her doctor) and Carla, her long
time nurse and friend. Maddy seems resigned to a lifetime of books, movies, and board games in
her sterile but safe home. Her over protective mom dotes on her and there s no denying the deep
love they share. With the death of Maddy s brother and father many years before

The Florida Project Essay
The Florida Project is a film about a family living in a motel and how financial hardship affects
the children of this film. The family I choose to support is Moonie s mother, Hailey. Within the
film, Hailey is unemployed and having a challenging time finding a job which caused her to lose
the assistance she received from welfare. Hailey turns selling discounted items on the streets and to
prostitution as her main source of income. To try and support this family, I would offer Hailey a job
at my uncle s restaurant, which will allow her not to use prostitution as a source of income. If
Hailey was able to have a steady job should would be able to provide her daughter a better place to
live and a reliable food source. Additionally, Hailey having a steady would allow her to receive
assistance from welfare if she qualified.
The film ended with a good cliffhanger, having the viewer question what would happen next to
Hailey and Moonie or why Moonie ran away to Disney World. I feel that Moonie went to Disney
World because she thought that she would blend it with all the other children and not be taken by

Peace Conference Simulation
Peace Conference Essay
During the peace conference simulation, my character was Tamir and I am on the Israeli side.
My character s beliefs are that I am willing to compromise on the West Bank, the Refugees being
allowed to return Israel as a compromise, and the city Jerusalem. Also, my other character s belief
is that there is no compromise on security in Israel. Those are the beliefs of my character as Tamir
in the peace conference simulation.
For my character I played in the peace conference simulation, I feel out of 5 I would give myself
a 3.5 out of 5. I rated myself at this score because I could not persuade the leaders to accept my
ideas for the West Bank because they felt that giving 45% of the West Bank was a small number
for our first proposal. Another reason was that the leaders did not like my idea of letting 350,000
refugees back into Israel out of 700,000 because they thought the number of refugees was to many.
Also, with Jerusalem, I offered 45% to be given to the Palestinians, but the leaders felt there really
should not be a percentage on giving Jerusalem. The leaders did agree with my ... Show more

store is an independent supermarket; it has a food court, grocery area, and catering.
I inquired about the products that are not available at other supermarkets such as Korean Pears,
Korean treats, and Korean takeout. I asked the store employees if these products can be found in

Describe the owner/manager s experience with dealing with each supplier. What service level do
the vendors provide and how do they differ?
Store #1: Since Nations Fresh Food is a grocery store, they rely on multiple suppliers to operate
the store as it should be run. Thus, they have different experiences dealing with each vendor. For
example, Korean pears require a personal relationship with pear suppliers in Korea.
According to the produce manager, National Fresh food purchases their pears from a vendor in
China over the phone or online. The pear vendor can only ship products in the fall and spring
because that is when the pears are in season. Also, the produce manager said that the goods arrive
on time and in good condition and that they receive a refund if the products are damaged.
Moreover, the vendor deliveries that product to the store in a pre designed box with the product
name and logo on it. The pears are sold in boxes of 12 and 24. This type of packaging is different
from other produce suppliers because the pears come pre packaged and ready to sell as is unlike
other providers. For example, bananas are packaged in boxes that have to be opened by staff and

The Pawnee Rangers Essay
To demonstrate how this show has managed to weave positive feminist ideals into every aspect
of the show, it is not hard to find examples in almost every episode. Truly one of the strongest
example of this takes place is the episode The Pawnee Ranger, where Leslie fights the
discriminating policies of the males only Pawnee Rangers, which is led by her boss Ron
Swanson. They proceed to fight over their rivaling youth camp organizations, with Ron s spartan
Pawnee Rangers, who learn to appreciate fishing, camping, and complete silence, up against Leslie
s supportive and indulgent Pawnee Goddesses, who practice arts and crafts and self confidence
building exercises. This episode, while still remaining to be very funny, also shows the importance
of genderequality, depicting the value in teaching young girls to be self confident, independent
thinkers who understand and appreciate working together with boys.... Show more content on

But, even in her hesitation, her love of fairness and equality overcomes her as the young Pawnee

is able to inspire those around her to action, training the world to be a better place by being

Extinction Of Dinosaurs Research Paper
The extinction of the dinosaurs has caused great controversy all over the world. There are many
theories of how they were killed, such as; an asteroid impact, volcanic activity, climate change,
and eggs that took too long to hatch. Their extinction allowed humans to rule the Earth in their
place. One of the most widely accepted theories is the asteroid. In section 5, Death of the
Dinosaurs , of a book written by Donald Prothero, he states that, By 1990, the debate was no
longer whether the impact occurred that was clearly established (Prothero). An article in TIME

University professor establishes a timeline of anywhere from three to six months depending on the
dinosaur (How). For a long time, scientists thought that it took 11 85 days for a dinosaur egg to
hatch. They thought this because it is similar to the birds incubation time, and birds are very
similar to the dinosaurs. Gregory Erickson, the Professor of Biological Science at Florida State
University, discovered that it actually takes three to six months for the eggs to hatch.
Erickson and his team of researchers first found dinosaur embryo fossils. The article ,released by
Florida State University, says, Erickson and his team ran the embryonic jaws through a CT scanner
to visualize the forming dentition. Then, they extracted several of the teeth to further examine them
under sophisticated microscope (How). The teeth gave the team evidence of how long the
dinosaurs were developing. The same article states that, Growth lines on the teeth showed
researchers precisely how long the dinosaurs had been growing in the eggs

An Evolution of Dark Romanticism The Tell Tale Heart
Dark Romanticism illustrates the subgenre of Romanticism and it often explores man s capacity
for malevolence. Edgar Allen Poe is one the writers of Dark Romanticism and in his story, The Tell
Tale heart , he explores humanity s propensity to commit sin. The story is based on the concept of

  • 4. Essay on To what extent is experience necessary for face... It has been claimed that experience plays a crucial role in the development of face processing (Kelly, Quinn, Slater, Lee, Ge Pascalis, 2007, p.1084). To what extent is experience necessary for face processing? Support your argument with empirical evidence. There is much debate on the subject of experience in regards to face processing. Some say that experience is wholly important in face processing while others say that face processing is innate and will develop without experience. It has been argued both that face processing is a perceptual process organized at birth and that it originates in a more general process that becomes specialized due to experience of different faces (Sugita, 2009). It may be that there is an innate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were then asked to decide whether they were the same or different when upright and inverted. Deprived patients distinguished faces from the featural set normally, but were significantly impaired for the configural set. These results indicate experience is indeed necessary for the normal development of face processing; specifically configural processing of faces. They also suggest that when visual input is delayed by only two months, there are permanent deficits (Le Grand et al., 2001). It has been hypothesized that there may be a critical/sensitive period for certain aspects of face processing to develop. Inferences from several data imply that there is a sensitive period and that it is between the first 6 to 12 months of life (Mancini et al., 1994). Nelson (2001) proposes that regions within the brain have the potential to become specialized for face processing and then when the face perception apparatus becomes tuned by exposure to faces, this specification includes: recognizing gender, age and emotional information. Sugita (2009) also suggests that there is a sensitive period for face perception; as selective experiences significantly affect later development of face processing. Although this theory has been inferred many times it is ultimately unknown for how long this period may last. However, the concept of a sensitive period certainly supports the ... • 5. The Importance Of Nursing Homes Are The Best Places For... With the growth of the aged population, finding the suitable accommodation for the elderly becomes a popular topic of interests. From that, an increasing number of the elderly are sent to nursing homes, the facilities that specialized in aged care and are regarded as the ideal places for old people. However, some question whether nursing homes are truly the best places for the elderly. This essay will argue that there are still some issues that need to be addressed in nursing homes, which may probably even make the elderly s lives worse. In this case, nursing homes are not the best places for the aged people. Firstly, the facilities and staffs of nursing homes are possibly not as adequate as one would like to imagine. One reason that nursing homes are described as the suitable places for the olds is that they provide specialized facilities, doctors, nurses and care recipients to protect the health for the elderly. Australian Aged Care Quality Agency has set some standards for nursing homes and the Standard 2 Health and personal care shows that nursing homes must put efforts on Staff development, Clinical care, Specialized nursing care needs and Medication management. However, the facilities are actually rarely checked to ensure that they meet the standards of basic health and safety (Brodwin, 2014) as well as the percentages of nursing homes that lack adequate staffs to properly care for patients and have been in violation of elderly abuse laws are 91% and 36% respectively ... The Breakfast Club Psychology The Breakfast Club The John Hughes film The Breakfast Club gives the account of a Saturday detention at Shermer High School, where a group of five distinctively different high school students comes together. Consequently, teen drama follows. The movie wholly spotlights social psychology topics. These topics include but are not limited to social roles, relationships, conformality, prejudices, and persuasion. Of these topics, the concept of social roles holds a vast importance to the overall target of the film. Each of the five students represent a different social group of modern high schools; John Bender, the troublemaker, rebel , Allison Reynolds, the social outcast , Claire Standish, the over privileged, snobbish white girl , Brian Johnston, the nerd , and Andrew Clark, the jock . Andrew supports his image of a jock through external interactions when he defends popular girl, Claire. This represents the strength, toughness and overall heroic aspect of a competitor. • 7. The Sectional Crisis And The Compromise Of 1850 In efforts to better understand the Civil War most historians examine the Sectional Crisis and the Compromise of 1850 in the decades leading up to the worst years in American History. Some historians prefer to focus on the underlying theme of the war, others tightly examine individual leaders, events, and political parties, connecting them all together like puzzle pieces to define the years prior to the war. Despite the contrasting views, it is clear to realize the constant prevailing issues of the Antebellum Period, the Sectional Crisis and the Compromise of 1850. In particular, the Compromise of 1850 is deceivingly taught as only establishing 3 pivotal elements: the status of slavery in future territories (popular sovereignty), California statehood, and the fugitive slave law. Granted these elements of the compromise provide a great amount of controversy long after their birth, but one element of the compromise perceives to fail in obtaining recognition. The TexasNew Mexico boundary resolution seems to find itself fading away from its relevancy to the civil war, shadowed by more prominent issues regarding the stability of the Union. Abandoning the traditional teaching of the compromise, the Texas New Mexico border decision figuratively and literally changed the identity of Texas. This was the long awaited result caused by deep rooted social and political issues dating back to the Texas Revolution. The end result of the dispute that led to the compromise held Texas to ... In this paper, we aim to fill what we, as researchers and teachers in qualitative psychology, have experienced as a current gap: the absence of a paper which adequately outlines the theory, application, and evaluation of thematic analysis, and one which does so in a way accessible to students and those not particularly familiar with qualitative research. 1 That is, we aim to write a paper which will be useful as both a teaching and research tool in qualitative psychology. Therefore, in this paper we discuss theory and method for thematic analysis, and clarify the similarities and differences between different approaches that share features in common with a thematic approach. Qualitative approaches are incredibly diverse, complex and nuanced (Holloway Todres, 2003), and thematic analysis should be seen as a foundational method for qualitative analysis. It is the first qualitative method of analysis that researchers should learn, as it provides core skills that will be useful for conducting many other forms of qualitative analysis. Indeed, Holloway and Todres (2003: 347) identify thematizing meanings as one of a few shared generic skills across qualitative analysis.2 For this reason, Boyatzis (1998) characterises it not as a specific method but as a tool to use across different methods. Similarly, Ryan and Bernard (2000) locate thematic coding as a process performed within „major‟ analytic traditions (such as grounded theory), rather than a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This means that their semiconductors could be delivered for a low price in high quality. The most interesting factor is that Apple and Nokia chose the Samsung Semiconductor for their supplier (Leachman et al, 2002). Therefore Samsung Semiconductor could reduce the fixed cost as they produce large amounts of semiconductors to provide to two large companies. In the case of Operating System, except for Samsung, Apple and Nokia use their own company s OS which is iOS and Symbian respectively. In the OS market, Android accounts for over 50% market share which means they provide OS to many mobile companies (Fernandez,2009). The author emphasizes on three basic patterns of denial, the first denial Rhodes states is the denial of gender inequality, which is composed of the allowance of individuals as myself to ignore or not succeed to identify or recognize the extent in which women still suffer from discrimination against. The second denial is the denial of injustice which stands for the manifestation of the way in general people rationalize women s inequality by blaming the women for the choices they make and their own capabilities. From there, we perceive the world exactly as Stephen perceives it. Through sounds, smells, and sensations we learn everything that Stephen is learning and many times in incredibly specific detail. Stephen s overly sensitive reactions and consistent use of imagery is proof to us that Stephen is different and views the world from an artist s perspective. This uses of imagery and motifs by James Joyceis used to describe how Stephen is able to interpret the world around him. Furthermore, Joyce reveals this through the name of the main character. Joyce s ability to make stories realistic was one of the reasons that he was such a tremendous success as a writer. Specifically, his use of imagery to establish motifs and symbols to provide a consciousness flow throughout his work that almost transports you into Stephens memories. If we can understand this imagery, then we can better understand Stephen s life and the time and place he lived in. The portrait of the artist as a young man is not a story about a portrait or a piece of art by an artist but the artist himself. It is about the experiences and difficulties in his life that lead him into finding his passion, his purpose and himself. Joyce also uses the name Stephen Daedalus for his protagonist as a reference to the builder of the Cretan Labyrinth. As the story goes, Daedalus, an architect, created a maze called the Labyrinth to house a half man, half bull upon the Kings request. To keep the secret of the Labyrinth safe, the King imprisoned Daedalus and his son in the Labyrinth too. Alfred Hitchcock also used cinematography in a uniquely stylizing way. Hitchcock not only uses the camera to create dramatic irony, but he also uses the camera to lie to the audience and create anxious suspense. For example, in his film Psycho, when Marion is in the shower Hitchcock frames the scenes very tightly. Marion is in a confined and very personal space. This makes her incredibly vulnerable. Then Hitchcock heightens the suspense by creating dramatic irony with the reveal of a shadowy figure closing in on Marion, unbeknownst to her. This creates a lot of anxiety for the audience, knowing the protagonist is vulnerable and in danger with no way of altering the inevitable. Hitchcock then manipulates the audience by revealing a brief silhouette of an old lady as our shower killer. Hitchcock uses this reveal to lie to the audience, he makes the audience think they have more inside knowledge confirming their already growing suspicions, when in reality the audience is misled entirely and the murderer was Norman all along. The way Hitchcock uses the camera to reveal both inside information and misleading information truly keeps the viewer engaged and not knowing what to believe until the truth is finally revealed. By using this unique technique of controlling the audience by only showing what he wants you to see, Hitchcock masterfully defies expectations and creates suspense. Both ... A GPS receiver must be locked on to the signal of at least three satellites to calculate a 2D position (latitude and longitude) and track movement.
